Actually, no, I don’t like that the accepted fanon is that the fight was Alastor’s fault tbh! And I especially don’t like that the general take is ‘Vox confessed his feelings and Alastor was disgusted and went running scared’ like being ace or aro or both somehow negates the fact that he’s a grown ass man and not a 7 year old on the playground running screaming from cooties! Alastor isn’t a child! He knows what sex and romance are! Even if your personal hc is that he’s repulsed by both, Vox was his best friend, and it’s irritating that so many ppl seem think Alastor would be unable to kindly reject him and still very much want to continue their friendship. Yanno, a thing people do all the time and that Alastor has also likely done before.

IDK fanon is gonna do what it’s gonna do, I can only create my own work, but the absolute refusal to put anything on Vox, as if it’s impossible that he could have been any part of the problem like say, pushing to include Valentino, insulting Alastor’s preference for older tech, Vox pushing Alastor away bc he didn’t want ppl to think he was weak and dependent on him, the potential list goes on! But the fandom will not hop off of ‘Vox confessed and Alastor cruelly rejected him and ran away scared and now Vox is sad bc Alastor hurt him and it’s all Alastor’s fault and Alastor feels nothing about it and is actively disgusted by Vox.’ Just. Obsessed with love between diary and devil bc every character seems to think they’re living in a different genre. Xiao Lanhua is convinced she’s in a silly romcom (and she’s right about half the time). To her, Dongfang Qingcang is doing all these things for her because he’s helplessly in love, not because he needs her skill and definitely not because she has any kind of power over him. Lord Changheng is in a palace drama—he’s returned from the war and longs to settle down with the sweet girl who saved him once, but his arranged marriage takes precedence over his true desires. Dongfang Qingcang is in, like, a power fantasy xianxia webnovel, so taking time to care for Xiao Lanhua pisses him off sooooo much. He just wants to skip to the part where he beheads everyone who ever opposed him

Welp. DST absolutely kicked my ass. I solo parented the entire day including: an outing for grocery shopping, a whopping total of ~4 minutes to myself, plenty of 1:1 time with each boy, tidying and dishes and laundry, and I managed to put together a lasagna and steamed veggies for dinner. Genuinely do not understand how ppl can prefer Aoi’s popular girl persona to her actual character. Like I’ve seen so many ppl say they hated her once her real personality was revealed and I just don’t get it. Do you want her character to be one-dimensional and boring?? Do you want her to be nothing but Nene’s best friend and Akane’s love interest?? Well maybe just Nene’s best friend since these same people are very set on keeping her away from the one person who truly understands her and encourages her to grow.

I know a lot of these people don’t understand her character (someone once explained their hatred of her to me by saying verbatim “boohoo she’s popular”) so I shouldn’t care that much but it’s part of a trend I’ve noticed lately of ppl wanting all media to be as simplistic and morally pure as possible. They don’t want conflict, nor complex characters with actual faults. Aoi isn’t even that bad, and she has character development, but that’s too much for some people to handle. They hate her for rejecting Akane without asking WHY she pushes him away, they hate her for lying to Nene without asking WHY she feels the need to do that. You don’t have to dig that deep to find the answers, the text spells it out for us.

Idk it just baffles me that some ppl would rather give Aoi the personality of a cardboard box rather than let her be her own flawed character. Not everybody has to like her ofc but the reasons ppl give for hating her make me think they’re just boring😭. At least with Teru haters I can kinda get it, you can understand his reasons for acting the way he does while still disliking him. But it’s so rare that I find an Aoi hater who understands her character. And when they do they, once again, want the story to be as boring as possible. Throw away all of Aoi’s complexities and everything that makes her unique to make her Nene’s supportive best friend. They want her to essentially be a Disney Channel side character. I’d come for Akane haters too but Ik they can’t read more than three words so I’ll let them keep their peace for now

Imagine if I said I worked on this fanfic all night, holy shit. I was dead-set on getting it out — trying to push myself to a different style of one-shot and it worked; I’m almost certain this has to be longest one-shot yet and I am not complaining.

The idea isn’t inherently my own and I wrote it as a request/gift for @just-animaxiz but holy shit, Rebels on the Road was such a fun ride!

To summarize, this is set in an alternate post-canon setting- months following the defeat of the Sorcerer and due to time shenanigans, the main cast are all in their junior year of high school and one of them, our title lead Randy, has gotten his driver’s license. Shenanigans ensue when he ends up in a silly, little situation and well, it gets a lot more crazier from there!

This is technically written as a sort of sequel to “Escape from Scrap City”, but not entirely! Though trust me - you are going to have a blast with this, literally /lh

People can unquestionably be deeply weird about food (see: recipe bloggers who are more about conspicuous consumption than actually good recipes; people who leave comments on recipe blogs about how fruit or god forbid carrots are unhealthy because - checks notes - they contain too much sugar; tr*dwives trying to politicize photos of bread; Silicon Valley guys selling fad diets). I find this as annoying as anyone (v possibly I find it more annoying, as a person who likes to cook!). However I also find it annoying when people act as if the act of cooking elaborate (or even not-so-elaborate) meals is in and of itself something weird and snobbish. Cooking is like the single most accessible hobby bro. The end product is food and you kinda need that to live, and also it’s often cheaper to make things yourself assuming you can afford the time cost. “God save us from people who make pasta sauce from scratch, why would anyone do this” well you see, sometimes people have hobbies. Sometimes people enjoy the process of creation as much as the thing itself, even. Sue me for finding joy in the stuff I’m compelled to put in my face to stay alive I guess
