Obsessed with love between diary and devil bc every character seems to think they’re living in a different genre. Xiao Lanhua is convinced she’s in a silly romcom (and she’s right about half the time). To her, Dongfang Qingcang is doing all these things for her because he’s helplessly in love, not because he needs her skill and definitely not because she has any kind of power over him. Lord Changheng is in a palace drama—he’s returned from the war and longs to settle down with the sweet girl who saved him once, but his arranged marriage takes precedence over his true desires. Dongfang Qingcang is in, like, a power fantasy xianxia webnovel, so taking time to care for Xiao Lanhua pisses him off sooooo much. He just wants to skip to the part where he beheads everyone who ever opposed him

#love between fairy and devil #maybe I’ll make another post about this later but it totally cracks me up when a character’s expectations of the genre #are turned upside down. like Lord Changheng COMPLETELY ignores how Xiao Lanhua got stuck in a fucking vibe when she was trying to be elegant #Xiao Lanhua complains about almost dying for about thirty seconds before completely changing focus and thinking only about #the pretty men in her life (good for her)#and. as mentioned above. Dongfang Qingcang is so so angy when he has to do romantic drama things for Xiao Lanhua. collect morning dew.#heat up her room.#count the flowers in the greenhouse. y’know. leia organa truly has one of the best bait-and-switch character introductions of all time because when you meet her she's this brave, stoic picture of elegance and justice and always knows just what to say to vader and tarkin and is clad in white like an angel and is this perfect two-dimensional archetype of pureness of heart. and then approximately half an hour later into the film she meets luke and han and she IMMEDIATELY shows her true colors as a sarcastic, bitchy control freak with a massive impulsive streak and a deep mine of hyperspecific insults. 10/10 character design i'm obsessed with her
