Imagine if I said I worked on this fanfic all night, holy shit. I was dead-set on getting it out — trying to push myself to a different style of one-shot and it worked; I’m almost certain this has to be longest one-shot yet and I am not complaining.
The idea isn’t inherently my own and I wrote it as a request/gift for @just-animaxiz but holy shit, Rebels on the Road was such a fun ride!
To summarize, this is set in an alternate post-canon setting- months following the defeat of the Sorcerer and due to time shenanigans, the main cast are all in their junior year of high school and one of them, our title lead Randy, has gotten his driver’s license. Shenanigans ensue when he ends up in a silly, little situation and well, it gets a lot more crazier from there!
This is technically written as a sort of sequel to “Escape from Scrap City”, but not entirely! Though trust me - you are going to have a blast with this, literally /lh
The word count has my tail thumping up and down. Also credit goes to the lovely @just-animaxiz for this. They designed me a flyer based on the event Randy attends in the fanfic! Unfortunately, Ao3 decided to be a butt and not properly upload the image so we had to resort to this instead, I’m afraid

grrrrr. I LOVE TNIS SP MUCH
I don’t have the words to express my true excitement and I am almost bouncing off the walls. I just woke up, so I really can’t think of anything to contribute! Smiles got me into those four (Randy and the punk bots) as adoptive siblings and now I can’t get enough of them.
Ok thanks to the 6Teen! RC9GN crew by @lsd-ink, I'm now thinking of funny/cute headcannons (Mostly about Punk Bots, Randy, and some of the other characters) SO IM DRAGGING YOU ALL WITH ME ON THIS ONE.
Starting off with my favs.
To pay off for their jail time, The Punks decided to work at the McMall (Cuz McFist owns 80% of the places), but somehow, Spike is not too keen on working so he decided to take a part-time job as a mechanic in a local station. Luckily it's not a product of McFist.
While Spike works at a mechanic, Thorn works as a bookstore worker and Skewer works in a Claire's type of store! Despite their appearances, they're really decently well with their jobs!
Thanks to @destiny-in-the-universe I do hc that the Punks do go to Randy's school to finish education, and surprisingly, they're really good at a few subjects! Most definitely, they're really skilled at creative writing, shop class, and gym!
Like always, Spike is envious when he first meet Randy. Seeing him have this normal life, with a loving parent, normal home, and everything. Though, Spike can't bully Randy because it doesn't make him feel better. They eventually bond over music, get to know after awkward moments, then eventually, the two got closer like brothers!
Spike got his attack dog moments not only to Randy but to Thorn and Skewer as well. He's been their provider ever since they escaped, and he doesn't want ANYONE to hurt them.
Doesn't matter if you're a girl, guy, nonbinary or anything - Spike will judge you when you're dating Randy or his brothers. He wanted someone who's good for them, and if they ever break a brother's heart, the wolf will bite.
While working at Claire's, Skewer gets asked by a little girl on why he's dressed like that. To humor her, he told the girl that he's the guard of the store, protecting anyone who tries to ruin the princesses' jewels and presents. His looks is a warning sign to anyone who tries to steal them. Astonished, she assumed he's a knight, along with Thorn and Spike, and she gave him the loyal knight ceremony where she tapped a toy wand over his shoulders and deemed him, "Sir Skewer!"
That encounter made Skewer happy in the inside, and if anyone makes of that, they'll know why his name is Skewer.
Thorn, meanwhile, loves working at the bookstore because he loves reading. He entertains the audience by reenacting the scenes, especially in manga books, and got the store a very good attention gain!
He does wonder about Japan and is always ecstatic whenever Mrs. Cunningham includes them on holiday trips to Japan.
Usually, when Randy's group comes together, Spike comes to visit with the other Punks on their breaks, and they have a good time hanging out!
Spike calls Heidi wrong names just to annoy her like how she annoyed Randy by calling him the wrong names.
Skewer and Howard have a chess battle, even though Howard thought it would be lame at first - The reason why he changed is because Skewer claimed Howard can't win.
Thorn have a little gossip fun with the girls, and sometimes would tease Randy over the girl he likes.
Now I heard Randy is the Ninja in this au, and if so, Spike would 100% know it's him. Why? Cuz he's his brother. The others will know eventually.
One thing to note is how Spike's face changed whenever he passes by a McFist product or even a poster of McFist.
NOW TIME FOR OTHER RC9GN CHARACTERS
Bucky, Steven, and Flute Girl all work at the music store. Bucky is very happy and friendly - Flute Girl is cynical and annoyed - Steven is [Trombone Music]
Bash is the local bully and thinks he has power over everyone because 1. His stepdad is the owner of everything, including the mall and 2. Cuz he's big and powerful. Some of the only people who aren't afraid are The Punks and Mrs. Cunningham.
Remember the Creepy Swamp Wizard, CatFish Booray? He has a food truck outside of the mall and it... Well you decide.
Mrs. Cunningham, in my book, is a lawyer that is often not present to the boys. She's been working hard to pay off for everything, but when she does have time, she wants to get to know each of her boys well and hang out with them.
When she needs alone time, Mrs. Cunningham usually either reads novels or practices fighting at the gym. It gets the stress from work out of her. People saw her as agile and skilled, which is how they saw Randy being talented at athletics.
Morgan is one of the popular girls and she is the queen of dancing. She leads dancing mobs at public places for the popularity.
McFist is occasionally seen at the Mall during grand openings or new product advertisements; however, one time he spotted Spike in the distance and he can't help but feel like the punk's familiar to him.

Just a little something for @just-animaxiz
This is based on a specific post, aka this one!
I wanted to talk about the angle of this story from Randy’s perspective. To summarize, Spike is human and happens to be, well, an orphan if my memory serves me right! I don’t know how much Smiles wants you all to know but let’s just say you’ll be in for a shock, or you might not be who knows, over who his father is!
Spike, Thorn, and Skewer are orphaned children who grow up together in an orphanage but during their late teens (think 16-17) decide to cause havoc and get back at the system for abandoning them. Obviously they’re not bots so the motives are very, very different. They’ll still be parallel but still!
In comes Randy, who… might be the Ninja. I don’t know to be honest- but even if he isn’t, he’s more than likely in a martial arts dojo being trained by a human! Nomicon. Somehow he meets Spike, Skewer, and Thorn; currently my best thought is Randy almost getting jumped while trying to help someone and Spike reluctantly comes to his rescue.
Things are a bit tense at first since Spike’s envious of the life Randy has- he’s a bit resentful, but he also sees Randy’s selflessness, the kindness, the goodness that the boy has. Albeit a bit… misplaced at times. I genuinely don’t think him being the Ninja will really change the storyline I have in mind-
ANYWAY,
With Spike and Randy attending the same school (they’re both two years apart in my eyes), they get closer and Spike’s now the other’s unofficial Attack Dog. Their friendship turns into something akin to adoptive siblings- and then at some point, Spike finds out the truth of his family… and why he was abandoned. He flies into a rage, either runs away or ends up trying to confront said parental figure I absolutely don’t know :).
OR HE GETS STANKED if Randy’s the Ninja. This has so much potential but we’ll get to this later.
Things get a little hazy from here because this was not fully planned out- I do see that Randy becomes an honorary punk and it influences his attire a little hahah.
I’m going to leave this here because I am, once again, not home. We’re going to see some caves- might get an idea from that eventually. Oops.
But have fun~

This is for you! I made… chaos. It’s something. I tried
I made the punk bots as dogs- from left to right is Spike, Thorn, and Skewer; there wasn’t really any form of a green dog and I didn’t feel like going on ibisPaint but there you are!
Spike is based on a German shepherd, Thorn’s a golden retriever mix, and Skewer? Well, he’s a sort of hound mix!

You got five minutes - Longer than that and I’ll give you the boot.
Here’s Skewer AKA The Green Punk Bot! Even though he’s a brute and can be animalistic, he’s smart and tends to prepare plans in situations. He’s caring of his siblings and people, though he’s not the open-heart fella.

Fuck it - I'm gonna make these guys into reoccurring characters into RC9GN because they're underrated (Especially the leader)
Starting off with lore bits for:
Spike
He is the leader of not only the Punk Bots, but also the leader of Scrap City. Ever since he failed to defeat the ninja and thus scrapped away, he gained enough sentience to start rebelling against McFist and Viceroy, shouting out the way they mistreated the robots like that.
He is the least scrapped Punk Bot out there, and that is due to his self-taught experience with mechanical repairs. He then began to take whatever parts out there and used them to fix the other bots, gaining their respect for him and vice versa.
Spike, as designed, is a punk, so he fonds over Punk music and guitar - Fortunately, McFist dumped other materials such as magazines, old guitars, and other items into Scrap City. In the middle of the heap is an untouched shiny red guitar. Spike claimed it as his and named it, "Ruby Bolt.
During their imprisonment, Spike realized the heaps of cars and vehicles stacked up like ladders. To test his theory, he created a rope out of cable and started to climb the stack. It took him 12 tries before he finally made it on the wall. Looking down, Spike found himself at the edge of a long fall, so he lasso'ed the cable to a glued object, like an impaled stick or heavy pole, and climbed down.
Once he made it, he learned that no one came after him. He's free... But then he looked up at his mates and realized they're still trapped and too many escaping can lead to getting caught. So Spike devised a plan. He talked this out with the group, and using hacking skills and convincing, they pulled in outside help into it. At a precise time, Spike and his punk bots leave Scrap City. Then when the humans are occupied (At a grand party or very busy), the Punk Bots trashed down a McFist establishment.
While they trashed the area, Spike stole a few items for personal reasons, and when they came back to Scrap City, Spike used them as upgrades.
He made upgrades on himself - making him faster, stronger, and more agile than ever. Additionally, he made personal upgrades like having sharp teeth, a tongue piercing, and a cool new torso.
He also had stolen photos of not only Mcfist and Viceroy, but the Ninja too. He kept drawing personal threats for his revenge.
As much as everyone agreed to vandalize at a specific time, Spike would sometimes go out on his own to take a breather. Wearing long sleeves and a hood over his head, he hides himself from interacting with humans... Or McFist.
A person caught his eye - A young bright boy with purple hair and a red shirt, like his. He's enjoying a night out with his family, meeting up with his best friend, and talking about the girl he has a crush on... Spike wished he could've been that boy, instead of being a scrappy mistake.
Thorn
Thorn is the yellow punk bot, and personality-wise, he's the "I may be sweet but I'm not merciful" type.
He is Spike's Right Hand Man and he always inform Spike about upcoming events or news from the outside.
Thorn may not be as scary or threatening as his brothers, but he can be with his words alone. Spike taught him that!
When McFist dumped random trash into Scrap City, Thorn found an abandoned set of manga. That caused him to be addicted in different types like Shojo, Isekai, and Shonen. He would spend all night reading, learning small Japanese words.
It was until Skewer, the green Punk Bot, gave him a book he found about Japanese culture and their language. Thorn thanked Skewer for the gift and dedicated into learning about his interests.
Before Spike fixed him, Thorn used to be the most damaged. He lost his head a dozen of times, cannot run as fast, and he had a squeaky arm. Even after he's repaired, the squeak's still there. It made him feel like a repaired doll but they still have cracks on their face.
When Thorn joined his brothers out to vandalize McFist stores, he would sometimes steal manga, figurines, or Japanese books to fulfill his interests. He even made theories about Yokai and think they're real, so he showed respect whenever he passed by small statues or paintings.
He's not the type who just sees Japanese as a trend or media thing, but he truly respects their culture and wished to travel to Japan just to learn more and appreciate its beauty. He wondered if they would accept a broken doll like him over there.
When Thorn learns that the Ninja came from Japan, he wished to meet them during a fight so that he could ask them questions about their occupation, wanting to learn their moves and their history.
He would be the type to punch a jerk if they disrespect his interests or even embodies humiliation towards it. Like I said, he's sweet but not merciful.
Skewer
The scariest Punk Bot. Every bot, except for his brothers, feared him.
It's not his fault though; Skewer was made with the scary face by Viceroy and McFist, which made others back away whenever they felt like he's glaring at them.
Despite this, he's also the smartest. He helped Spike set up the upgrades and hacking. This is due because of the dumped items in the heap.
Skewer found a guide to hack and a manual to repair and rebuild. He also find trashed books from Math and science (Thanks Bash) and took them in for his research.
There, his intelligence became stronger than ever, storing data after data and using them for important tasks.
The data also led him to his fond of chess and checkers, which annoyed a specific chess-obsessed robot.
Even though he's smart, he still lives up to the scary bit - He's the frontman, the bulldozer, and the brute of the pack. Someone messes with him or his people, and they'll be skewered.
Bots cannot even tell what mood he's in, questioning if he gave them compliments or subtle threats.
When he and his brothers vandalized McFist Industries, Skewer made observant notes of everything. He noticed how Thorn would stare at a store with Ancient Japanese antiques, or how Spike gaze at a happy boy before he soberly looked away. Other times, Skewer made notes of seeing a red light on a camera, or hearing an annoying voice from a distance.
If they needed time, Skewer would purposely cause a destruction somewhere else as a diversion and make an escape route to go back to his brothers in time.
Skewer questions the Ninja's existence and purpose. He learned that they had been in Norrisville for several years, which is impossible for humans. (Wink) And he discovered from articles that the Ninja came in different forms, wondering if there's a deeper reason behind it.
He also wondered why McFist would go out of his way to built world-destructive robots just to destroy one Ninja. It doesn't make sense in his way.
Hope you enjoy some lore bits I made for them!

RC9GN SHORT FIC - SPIKE
It's Saturday. Which means Gathering Week.
As two long, metallic arms stretched out in the air, the leader of both Punk Bots and Scrap City rose from his bed and yawned. Feeling a bit stiff, he rose one shoulder and rotated his arm around 360 degrees, before he set it down and did the same to the other.
Spike then stood up from his flat, hard, iron bed - the one he's so well used to lying for a while. Right across the room, on the opposite side of his room, is a mirror with his newly sewn red vest hanging off the top corner. The leader walked past the mirror, his reflection showing a neutral but determined expression.
At the exit of his room, Spike's door is decorated with dozens of pictures, ripped magazines, and target signs of Hannibal McFist and The Ninja. Additionally, there are rubber cables used for exercising and a handle bar glue above, useful for doing standing pull ups. Spike usually practiced on Tuesdays for that. He paid no mind, however, as he just opened the door and headed left towards the bathroom.
On his way, Spike passed by the room where his buddies, Thorn and Skewer, resided. Without stopping, he rose one arm and knocked three times, alarming the two brothers to wake up. As expected, Skewer was always the first to open, first looking for Spike before stating, "Mornin'." Spike only waved one hand in response, "Mornin' - It's Gathering Week tonight. Get Thorn's ass off."
--
10:30
30 minutes of getting ready for the meeting, Spike and his two brothers walked down the streets of Scrap City.
Well, not Street per se, but a pathway.
While walking, A small elf robot came up to the tall leader, "Spike, boss! My friend needs a hexagonal bolt and an extra wire to reconnect the left leg movement!"
"I'll keep in mind - Use the crutches as a substitute in the meantime." Without hesitation, Spike answered with ease. The elf nodded and rushed back, just as a robo-ape walked beside the three, "We're out of oil and my fists are getting stiff from walking."
"Stop walking and we'll get it here by tomorrow morning."
"Thank you." THUMP. The bot then fell, followed by a couple of robots that carried him off to safety.
Spike, Thorn, and Skewer finally arrived at the meeting area. The meeting area, in question, is a broken circular table with McFist's dumb face plastered on the cover. Luckily, other robots had their time drawing doodles on his face so that it'd be less of an eye sore to stare at it. Surrounding the tables are other groups discarded by McFist.
The only one's not present is Dale, whose memory shall be remembered as he's off in a more friendly care. By who? I don't know.
At the presence of their leader, the robots surrounding the table stopped whatever they're doing and watched Skewer and Thorn set down a large blueprint.
"Alright, mates - Listen up. During our last heist, intel told us McFist is raising the security here downtown." Spike explained, grabbing a rusty pole and pointing the tip at the area known for every "Mc-Fist" businesses. "Our job is to head somewhere were more equipment are stored."
Spike then pulled the pole away, giving a little twirl before pointing it at a robo-ape with a broken arm, "You. You're scrapped here since last Friday night by McFist. Any insights?"
"Yes - Mcfist is having a birthday party for his wife, Marci, and he'll be gone for a couple of days. Meanwhile, Viceroy is storing the spare equipments at one of the secret units, to which McFist shared it to me to "remember.""
"Seriously?" A cowboy bot interrupted, tilting his broken hat up by this revelation, "He told you to remember it but you're scrapped here?"
"He also told me and other robo-apes to destroy The Ninja."
Everyone in the table groaned, letting out rants and babbling about the Ninja; however, a smack on the table startled them silent, turning their gazes at a darkened silhouette of Spike.
His eyes, looming bright yellow, indicated a sign for them to know the rules, "Remember rule number 1 - We don't talk about the Ninja in this city!"
The bots nodded in fear, and Spike took a moment to breathe in and out. Once he's calm and his silhouette lightened, his tone changed, "We only talk if the Ninja's around the area we're gonna steal or he's very active lately. He's the reason why McFist created us and McFist is the reason why we're here. We don't want any loose distractions on Gathering Week, don't we?"
They nodded again.
"Very well - Now continue." Spike then looked back at the robo-ape with the broken arm.
"Ahem - So McFist is heading out and Viceroy placed the equipments in this storage." He then pointed to the area up north, far from Down Town, "It's right near to the bookstore."
"Perfect." Spike smirked, "And the Ninja?"
"While fighting, I heard that the Ninja is going on a day-off for a moment. I think that's because of what happened a month ago."
Right. A month ago, word got around that a mysterious entity known as "The Sorcerer" managed to invade Norrisville High. Spike didn't know, but he very well remembered the sight of green mist above the city from afar. It looked like a toxic exploding mushroom to him, and boy is he glad the schedule's moved later that day.
But now everything's back to normal, and the residents of Scrap City are back at their gathering game.
"Alright - So we're on the clear for today. We need a total of 45, and that means we don't have heavy loaders. Got it, mates?" Spike explained, and everyone agreed in favor.
---
Later that night.
Three Punk Bots climbed up a heap of cars, carefully gripping hold and making sure they don't hear any creaks.
"Don't you think it's kinda dumb for McFist to dump all cars like this, ey, bruh?" Thorn, the yellow Punk Bot, spoke up amongst the grunting. He kicked his left foot against a stiff rock, then raised his arm to hold onto the corner of a crushed minivan. His arm let out small squeaks, reminding Thorn of his early damages, but he paid no mind.
"If anything's right in that man's head," Skewer, the green Punk Bot, grunted as he gave himself a little jump before climbing upwards, "It's that his ego overloaded his intelligence!"
The two shared a laugh, followed by a quiet chuckle from Spike. They already knew he find it funny despite his attempts to resist it. They knew him better than himself, including his taste for humour. A good McFist roast gets him going, even with all the pressure of being the leader of Scrap City and the only one who has the biggest hate on McFist.
Once the trio made it to the top, they jumped from the tip of the heap to the border. All three's circuits jumped as their feet nearly pushed deep to the edge, but luckily they held each other back and sighed.
"Ok, remember - Distract anyone who gets too close and destroy any cameras on sight." Spike warned, followed by two nods. Skewer turned to his side and tied a rope, letting one end down.
It's go time.
---
In Norrisville, late at night, the three invaders sped in the shadows, turning to alleyways when streetlights are on and running out when it feels like total darkness. Occasionally, Spike would raise his hand to halt, and he pulled out the blueprint to make sure they're on the right track. He traced his finger on the path they chose, and with a few calculations, he pointed right. Spike then tucked the paper away and without a doubt, the three continued their run.
"So sad we can't meet the Ninja again..." Thorn sighed quietly, "I really wanted to ask him about his adventures 800 years ago!" The three coordinated Spike's moves as they jumped over fences, dodged trash cans, and pressed themselves as the wall as they tip-toed underneath light windows.
"Can you stop hoping karma, Thorn? You don't need the Ninja to solve every question you have." Skewer argued, also quietly, before the three turned to a corner and ran across closed stores. While dashing, Spike grabbed a rock and successfully threw it on a rotating camera stuck on a streetlight. With that much momentum, the camera spun around due to the hit and fell on the ground.
"But you gotta be curious too, don't ya Skewer? You told me that last night!"
"I was groggy - And I only say it to shut your trap!"
"(Gasp) Liar!"
"Will you two - STOP -"
The two immediately froze, as Spike blocked their drift forward. They looked in front to see a construction area, filled with cement, machines, and signs that warned them explicitly to turn around and go the other way. Inbetween the signs are lasers, and with a glance around, Spike could see sleeping cameras on the corner of the area.
"Crap," Skewer cursed, "If we go this way, we'll trigger some kind of alarm. We'll take another route. This will make gathering more difficult on the way back."
Spike snarled, clenching his fists. Why does the big man always make things harder for him?! Humans always treat robots like him as if they're nothing. THEY ARE SOMETHING. THEY HAVE FEELINGS AND SO DOES HE. HE WON'T BE SCRAPPED ANYMORE.
No cage can lock us away.......
Release the rage......
Explode in thunder.....
"Huh?" Spike shook his head, confused and stammering. Everything became a white noise until he stopped shaking, and he turned to Skewer, "What did you say, Skewer?"
"I said we can go to the Game Hole. The storage is just in the back, and then we'll take a shortcut over there." Skewer explained, almost sounding concern at Spike's reaction, "Are you alright?"
"Yeah... Let's just go."
The three turned and ran down to an alternate route.
---
At their new pathway, the three robots scurried towards Greg's Game Hole, and they abruptly stopped once more when their robotic lens caught sight of a truck. Without a thought, Spike gestured Skewer and Thorn to duck and find another way, but just as he's about to follow them.
"Hello? Someone there?"
Crap! Only by a second near the corner, someone caught a glimpse of Spike. He glanced back and saw the figure walking forward, getting close to their area. The leader scanned around before spotting a box conveniently filled with clothes fitted for him. He removed his red vest, which is a very clear icon on who he is, and tossed in the bag.
"What are you doing?" Skewer questioned with gritted teeth, to which the red bot responded in a hushed tone, "You two go get the equipment. I'll distract whoever caught us! Now go!"
Spike grabbed a green coat, a black mask, and a crimson scarf before grabbing the box and shoving it to Skewer. With no futher questions, the two quickly turned away and ran.
"Hey, someone there?" Spike turned around and... Oh no...
Not him.
Spike stared back at the blue eyes of a teenage boy, wearing a green jacket over a red shirt and black pants. His purple hair, noticeable from afar, made a clear silhouette.
"Uhhh..." Spike cleared his throat and slacked over, trying not to straighten himself up for the incredible and strange height difference between the two, "I'm good... Just walking at night."
"Oooh.. Sorry about that! I thought I saw something quickly hiding over the corner like they don't want to be caught!" Randy chuckled, but gradually turning to an awkward laugh when Spike didn't follow along with him.
"Ahem... Um... I gotta go get back... To my night shift." Randy pointed to the Game Hole and walked down, which made Spike confused.
"Work? At night?"
"Yeah, it's called a night shift! I'm only doing this for today because I need to save up money!" Randy responded, walking into the store before backing up, holding a trolley with an arcade machine on board. Spike walked towards him, hoping to stall enough time, "Why?"
Randy stopped and stared at him. Then he pondered, "Hmmm... Well, if you help me then I can tell you!" He chimed, smiling with a smug look. This gave Spike a chuckle and he nodded, "Sure, kid."
----
"Wait, you're going to what with who?" Spike asked, lifting up one side of an air hockey table while Randy held the other side opposite from him.
"Well, there's this competition happening near Norrisville. It's about talented gymnastics fighting to the death with twirling batons and pom poms! Well, not to the death, per se, but more like a competition! See, there's this pretty girl there - Who I mean, totally is my girlfriend but she's really amazing but - I mean!" Randy stammered, clearing his throat mid-way before continuing, "She's going there to compete and I wanted to save enough money for me to go and watch her game! I would ask my friend, but he's off on a vacation with his parents, unfortunately."
They carried the table to the truck and placed it to the left side. Randy scooted over the table and made his way back to Spike, "It's really expensive, so I took up a couple of jobs to earn some cash! It's the bruce!"
Spike walked beside him to get the last arcade machine, "I see... That must've been hard work."
"Eh - I had worse..." Randy muttered, not noticing Spike's raised brow beneath the hood, "I mean, I had worse jobs before! It's terrible, but I learned my lessons! For example, there's this product called The McStachlé"
Oh no...
Not this.
Spike remembered it well, secretly cringing at his debut spot.
He and his buddies were made by Viceroy to attack the Mcstachlé store at its grand opening. The reason? Guess.
When they failed, Viceroy set up a back-up plan which is to fused the three of them into a larger robot made out of McStachlé material. Why did they fail again?
Well, it turns out that McFist needed to low costs so he had the regular zippers than indestructible zippers.
The Ninja defeated the bots, and they're taken to Scrap City.
That was the most embarrassing and worst day of Spike's life.
"I'm not exactly fond of those things. Don't you think they're ridiculous?"
"Well, it nearly costed me and my friend's friendship, so maybe yeah? But they're really cool, though!"
The two finally stopped in front of a machine, coated in red, orange, yellow and black. A title smeared on the top and bottom covers of the machine, with a depiction of a rather horrifying beast with horns and tusks. Spike narrowed his eyes to read the dirty title, "The Roar of the Oni."
Oni? Spike heard Thorn mentioned it a while ago, due to his excitement and love for Japanese culture.
"Yeah. Those big burly red guys with horns and a club? I think they're yōkai, according to my studies. I heard stories that they actually come from another realm. Isn't that scary?" Randy asked, then he noticed Spike staring at the machine with a hypnotic gaze.
Spike's eyes scanned at his reflection, as though he is another version of himself beneath the hoodie, mask, and scarf. He saw himself, dawn in an orange scarf covering his mouth, decorated with fangs. His eyes glaring yellow, glowing in the dark. He felt rain tapping his shoulders, getting harder and faster when his emotions boiled harder.
Suddenly..
BAM!
Spike jumped, hearing a mix of something unusual. Is it thunder? He turned around and spot a tall lanky man with a short brown bob, and a thin stache on his face. He had one hand holding a door knob, indicating he just closed the door.
"Randy? Who's your friend? Did you get everything loaded?" The man asked, putting on his groovy light jacket.
"Oh, he's just helping me carry the heavy stuff, Greg!" Randy chuckled, then he looked up at Spike, "Hey I didn't get your name, though..."
Spike switched between them, then he cleared his throat and pulled his hoodie down to shadow his features, "Uh... I'm just a friend, but I have to go. I think I'm late for... Curfew."
With his poor excuse, Spike rushed out of the Game Hole, quickly dashing out of the scene. Randy stared at him with confusion, and a hint of sadness.
"Hmm... At first glance, I thought he looked like the Ninja!" Greg said in the midst of silence, "But he looked too tall to be one."
---
At the destination, Spike removed his disguise and tossed them to the dump, then he turned to the storage area where he saw Skewer and Thorn in a truck.
"Where did you get the truck?" Spike asked, climbing aboard. Thorn, who used to be in the passenger seat, made space in the back which fits cozy for him.
"Oh, we just randomly found it!" He perked up with a response, and Spike put on his seatbelt.
"How's the distraction?" Skewer asked, glancing at Spike. Spike took a moment, glancing at himself on the side view mirror. He could've sworn he saw the other reflection staring back, but he turned to answer.
"It's nothing.... Just drive."
Skewer pressed the gears and drove forward, "Well, we got intel that it's going to rain soon, so we grabbed some extra for shelther."
---
The Creeper stood in the dark, his orange hair and cowboy hat dimmed beneath the shut down street lamps.
He raised his eyes at the moving truck, knowing who he's referring to as he spoke. The entity wearing red, with a soul waiting to be released within
"Live your life the best you can, but soon, you're more than nothing in this journey. See ya around.... Oni."

RC9GN IDEA / RAMBLING: SKEWER
Ok, here's my rambling again but I'm thinking of another Punk Bot, who I named "Skewer". Skewer is the Green Punk Bot seen in "McSatchlé" and "Escape From Scrap City."
Skewer first started out as a "No Talking" Side Character, only seen as a part of Spike's team; however, it changed during the Ninja fight where he really showed it off.
youtube
In the fight, Skewer is seen doing the heavy work out of the two before their mega form. He acts animalistic, violent, and determined to take down the Ninja. He didn't even let in the others to help or tag them to take over.
Later on, he then appeared in Scrap City, only to come in duplicates.
youtube
I get it it's to save production costs so they reuse the same model, but it got me thinking some lore stuff about Skewer.
What if he's a prototype? A set of prototype before they made the final version?
Viceroy isn't always a man with perfect machines, so I like to think he test their durability out before the final version. In this case, Skewer was built before Spike and Thorn.
Skewer is then tested over and over, with different versions after the other, to be the toughest of them all; however, no matter what, even the final version failed to complete his mission.
And not to mention, Skewer has to LIVE in Scrap City, where the dead corpses of his previous forms are there, lying dead while some can't even be stable enough to walk or talk. And to make sure HE and HIS BROTHERS have to survive, they have to take apart the prototypes to use as their own.
It's fucked up, isn't it?
It also makes Skewer feel like he can't show any weakness or vulnerability to anyone, including his brothers. With his smarts and strength, he wanted to feel like he's still a part of the team, not wanting to be dead like the others.

- SKEWER ROMANTIC INTERACTIONS -
Skewer is a straight man. Not straight as in sexuality (They're all pan in my hc), but he's straight-forward. If he likes you enough, he'll come at front and say that.
It's okay if you say you're not interested. He gets that. He'll just leave you alone and those feelings are done.
If you agree, then it's good! He'll help you discuss a schedule, time, and what to wear depending on the mood! He's that kind of guy, you know?
Just like Spike, he doesn't want any McFist supporters, and just like Thorn, he'll give compliments... In his own way.
He is a poet at heart, but he doesn't show it often because he's not the type to just show off what he makes. If it's special for someone, then he'll personally send it to them during their week/month anniversaries.
As you can see from his scenes alone, despite being a gentleman, Skewer is a brute. If anyone dares to make fun of the two of you, then you'll have to hold him down before he scares them off 'till the next town over. Unless you like him that way, then it's their problem.
Skewer tends to be violent if things aren't exactly as he planned. McFist's robots disrupting your date? He'll pay that big man a visit as well as a hospital visit. If there's some kind of demonic entity scaring off your peace and quiet together? He'll have them scurrying back to where they came from and never come back! If a Karen takes up most of your time in the schnoobiest way possible? Everyone will have to take safety in a bomb bunker before he explode!
Sometimes, he even lash out at his partner, accidentally or in purpose. Accidentally might happen if any of the events above triggered him, causing an indirect response. He'll take responsibility afterwards and try to find calmer ways to control his anger, even if it means breaking up with you to give each other space. In purpose, however, is when his partner tends to waste their time together and disrespect his gifts for them like nothing. He spent all week planning and you're just going to ditch him off to be lazy and inconsiderate? He'll leave you once he's done destroying your tree and lawn.
Skewer's love languages are quality time and gifts. He's a man with a plan, and he wants to make your days together the best one you've ever experienced. This might involve some stealing from the rich, but many of his gifts are hand-crafted with his brothers' help and ideas. Spike helps him set up a perfect spot for your date and Thorn brings him cute things to make, like metallic bracelets or paper flowers!
To give him love in return, you have to spend time with his planned dates. Sometimes, there might be mistakes but he'll appreciate it if you stay with him no matter how messy they might become.
