i have purchased TWO writeblr books recently

i found @aritany’s DEAD GIRLS DON’T SAY SORRY at my local Indigo book store, facing out and everything, and of course i brought a copy home with me. i’m low key obsessed with the cover and am so excited to dive in!

and i was finally able to preorder @ashen-crest’s THE SPIRIT WELL from Indigo! i read the first book in the series in one sitting and i look forward to devouring the sequel :)

anyone else reading writeblr these days?? (i feel like that should be a tag of some sort… #readingwriteblr anyone? surely someone’s done that already i’m not that clever)

Lana did such an incredible job creating this Day Court Elucien for us, she was so wonderful and a pleasure to work with💗

The flowers we chose for this piece are damask rose, saffron, and jasmine. These all grow in the Persian region, and symbolize love and beauty, light and sacrifice, and sensuality and grace, all of which embody Elucien and their story of tension, growth and healing💕

met a VERY charming lil friend yesterday who i have never (knowingly) seen before!!! 🖤💛

this is the Sequoia Pitch moth (Synanthedon sequoiae), yes, moth! these fascinating little creatures bear an incredible resemblance to members of the family Vespidae, like common paper wasps and yellowjackets, and that’s no simple coincidence!

the appearance of these moths is an example of Batesian mimicry, a type of mimicry where one species mimics the warning signals of another species, but without having the same harmful or undesirable defences.

in this case these moths look like they may give you a nasty sting, but really they’re about as harmless as a moth can be! (plus they have gorgeous slightly iridescent black-lined wings and fluffy little shrimp-like tails! absolute cuties!)

Okay so I’ve been a quiet Sonic fan since I was a kid and grew up playing Sonic Adventure 2 so naturally the Sonic 3 movie has me in a chokehold but can we just talk about this FAN MOVIE I JUST FOUND???

For people more into the fandom than me this is probably old news but for those coming into the fan base, please I am just in AWE and just sat here and bawled my eyes out while watching it.

“I wanted to ask a few things from ye while I was in this form. I wanted to know more about yer Link.”

Bunny’s eyes dropped to the ground. His lop ears lowered farther. A tiny whimper escaped him, and he wouldn’t look at Twilight.

“Do ye know he’s…”

Bunny turned away, confirming Twilight’s suspicions: Bunny knew the fate of one of his owners.

“’m sorry we couldn’t take ye back to yer other owner—Ravio, was it?” Another whimper from Bunny. “Ye must miss him.”

Slowly, Bunny nodded. He stayed silent.

Twilight regretted bringing it up at all. “Sorry, are ye okay?”

A low keen from Bunny. A definite ‘no,’ even if not a word had left Bunny’s mouth. In his eagerness to finally speak with Bunny, Twilight had gone and upset the poor creature. First, they had taken him away from his home and family, and now Twilight was reminding him of his recent loss.

“’m sorry,” Twilight repeated. “I shouldn’t ‘ave brought it up. If ye ever want to talk, I’ll listen.”

Bunny still wouldn’t look at him. Twilight had never known an animal to fall so despondent, and that protectiveness within his chest flared, bright and golden.

“Aw, c’mere.” Twilight paced around Bunny three times before carefully lowering himself to the ground, wrapping his tail over his forelegs to complete the little circle around Bunny. Bunny made a curious sound as he was surrounded, but he didn’t try to run nor escape, only gazed at Twilight with intensity in his eyes. “Get some rest, li’l one. I’ll protect ye tonight.”

Bunny’s violet eyes glistened. He dipped his little head, lop ears swaying. He paced in the small circle of space he had, three times just like Twilight, before settling down in Twilight’s fur, resting his fluffy head against Twilight’s. They fell asleep together, Twilight curled around his tiny pink bunny, protecting him from nightmares, monsters and the bite of the cold alike.

Come morning, Wild would have a dozen new photos on his slate, but the teasing fell on deaf ears when Twilight could only fawn over how small Bunny was, encircled by his wolf form. The protectiveness bloomed brighter and he couldn’t help but draw Bunny into his arms, and though it wasn’t the same, Bunny still rested his head against Twilight’s regardless of his change in form.

I’ve been thinking more about reverse robins AU with Duke as the Dick/Nightwing parallel, and I have some ideas.

So like, Duke came first. He was the light to Batman’s darkness. I don’t know if he would start off with Signal or another mantle and become Signal later on, but he definitely had the bright colors from the start. Batman might be the Dark Knight but Duke was Gotham’s (K)night Light. Batman fought what hid in the shadows but Signal chased the shadows away, provided a guiding light home. He was the Sunshine when the never ending grey clouds got too thick. He was Gothams hope and inspiration for a brighter future.

But don’t forget he was also a menace. I don’t think it would go down exactly like it did in the comics, it was the early years for Batman-and for the villains as well. After Duke’s parents were gone (maybe by Joker still turning them mad with Joker gas in Joker earliest year, maybe year one for him or something else) he started planning. He started working harder in school, focusing on the sciences to one day make a cure but also would go out looking for his parents, like in canon. He would stumble into things way bigger, overhearing plots from villains and mafias and decided to become an inconvenience for them. Letting the airs out of tires when no one was watching, a fire alarm pulled right before an attack, door stoppers on the outside of each door to a warehouse trapping the villains who where planning inside. A sudden strong of bad luck befalling the main terrors of Gotham. It didn’t go unnoticed, especially by Batman. Duke kept his streak of being unseen until one night he crossed paths with the Bat.

Bruce for his part would have know about the little boy who lost his parents in the attack, and it would have also brought up some memories for him as well. He would have kept a small track of him, but noticed he was in foster care so didn’t do much until one day he came across the reason behind all the karma the villain have be having. Looking into the boys eyes and seeing the same fire that he had, blazing more fierce as Duke explains how he will find his parents and save them, and if he could prevent more bad things along the way he will. Something pinging in Bruce’s soul, this kid lost his parents like he did but not fully, and he still had hope among the need for justice, something that had faded so long ago for himself. He took Duke back that day, promising that he will find Duke’s parents, and kept a closer eye on him after the fact.

Duke noticed that after that day it became like clockwork, he would sneak out, search Gotham, cause a little chaos, get caught by the Bat and brought back to his current foster home. Bruce did some digging, looked for Dukes parents but also found out that Leslie Thompkins was the person in charge of Duke’s case. After a few weeks of the new schedule he met up with Dr. Thompkins. They talked about how Duke has been bounced around from home to home and sneaking out to find his parents almost every night. After a long conversation, and not as much convincing as one would expect, Duke found himself being driven to his next foster home, Wayne Manor.

Okay I’m going to leave this here for now. I ended up writing so much more than I though I would lmao. I have more ideas and will probably continue this soon.

With that, he gently lowered Link back down to himself. This finally seemed to settle the boy, though it was likely the contact as he seemed to melt into the embrace. He snuggled closer, sniffling a little, breath warm on Ganondorf’s chest, hair caught in his beard. The Gerudo chuckled a little as the boy got comfortable, hearing him sleepily mumble, “Mkay g’nigh’ love you.”

It took everything in his power to not outright laugh at the poor delirious child. Instead, he pressed a small kiss on his head, rubbed his back, and whispered, “Good night, sweet boy.”

I’m so exhausted and finished the biggest speech tournament of the semester(got 4th in my speech on butch lesbians btw. LESBIAN W) and still have a few showcases + I’m in the midst of writing final essays + just got back from the beach and need to rest for realsies but. I so severely miss creepypasta. Driving home from the ocean with my friend and it was freezing cold and pitch black and my eyes felt swollen and numb from the wind but we lamented on creepypasta for the hour long drive because we have been neglecting it lately for school. This will change. I miss it. I gotta draw Toby.

Going to do a Nevermoor series reread in June + July + August ? if anyone else also wants to do a reread around that time, could be fun to have more of the fandom prepping for Silverborn

Did initially make a roadmap plan to split the books up into weeks on top of already being months, so that people could focus on specific parts and discuss each week….. but between the fact that I messed it up the first time, Silverborn kept getting delayed as I planned it, and I’m actually really bad at keeping to stuff like that (looking at you, Silverborn Countdown Challenge…) I’m deciding to just go for it at whatever pace happens.
