very odd feeling to be reading a fanfic and then get to a part where you’re like “oh the person who wrote this is def like 16” (not in a bad way) and then realize that im not also 16 and that brain hasn’t actually been stagnant this whole time and my writing and reading preferences and skills have actually changed since then

I may repeat myself here because I don’t reread my own posts and immediately forget everything I’ve said before on here but I’m not really sure “how long it took me” to be honest because I am not sure how to quantify that. Sorry babe can’t talk rn I just started thinking about the final Victor + the Creature pas de deux from Liam Scarlett’s Frankenstein ballet again. What’s that? Yeah, the part where they start mirroring each others’ movements before colliding and you can’t tell if their actions towards each other are violent or not. And then when the Creature puts Victor’s hand on his face and clings to it and Victor raises his other hand to touch him but only to push him away, yeah. So I’m gonna need a couple hours you understand.

AHHHH. very good #we’re going up keys or octaves or something (sry girl who doesn’t know anything about music but loves it very much)#and it’s so dramatic and beautiful and heartbreaking and chilling #it’s funny how much I love this production when it has so many of the common changes from the book #that I’m usually complaining about in other adaptations #but something about the medium of ballet works SO WELL for the core story that I don’t care #like of all visual media #I think ballet is suited the best to capturing the turmoil and entanglement of Victor and the Creature #and in doing so it succeeds at communicating the themes of the original novel #and in that way it is somehow. like. the most faithful adaptation I’ve seen
