Howdy everyone. Been a while since I posted anything, hasn’t it? Well, now I finally have the time to sit down, and talk about my feelings and what’s been happening. So, again this is venting, if you don’t want to hear it, you may disregard this post. But if you want to read, everything is in the “keep reading” tab. Thank you.
First of all, I’d like to say that it’s been difficult drawing digitally. My art device keeps acting up, and I’m fed up with it. So for the moment, you will most likely see me draw traditionally. A shame too because my traditional doodles don’t get as much love as my digital pieces, but it is what it is. So if I owe anyone any art pieces, chances are they’ll be done traditionally.
Second of all, which is relevant to the first point, it’s been getting hot where I live. 30+ degrees all week, making it hard to draw. I just apologize for taking so long in terms of art in general.
Third of all, my “parents” keep shaming me for who I am. Whether it’s as an artist, or for my body. But they adore to mentally bring me down, sometimes accusing me of having a mental illness or depression.
This household of mine is indeed a curse, you’re damn right Hol Horse. It’s simply infuriating that nobody understands my feelings around the house, everytime I express a single thing about myself, it goes to rot and put themselves first. And they say they worry for me for being away from home…please, it’s for my own good. My mental state has been declining a lot since then. The heat fries my brain, and my household is making me feel insignificant about myself. It’s bad enough that my self-esteem isn’t the greatest due to my past.
Fourth point, I’ll be honest. Making friends with a lot of people at this point feels pointless because 70-80% of the friends I make abandon me without saying a word, or neglect. Not a pleasant feeling. Hurts me a lot. There’s been many friends I’ve made that did just that, and even if I try to reach out to them every now and then, no luck. So I’ve kinda…stopped trying. People can be busy, or have more going on in life than expected and that’s understandable. But if you don’t say anything, I’ll never know a single thing.
What does it mean? It means that things have been very slow on my behalf. Too much stress on my mind, and I hardly have any time for myself anymore. It’s saddening, but I’ll still keep drawing, even if it’s severally slow. Just wanted to inform to those who’re reading this post that I’m still around, just exhausted from life.
I’d like to mention a couple people in this post: @spamtonjuice420 , @stardust-vi , and @fellow-traveller
Why, you ask? Simple. You guys have been amazing people in my life in many ways. Very talented artists, very kind individuals, and chill to talk to. We all know Hol Horse, so that’s a massive plus…I love how I’ve converted some people into liking Hol Horse too hah. But I just wished I could speak to some of you more often. But I can’t control what happens in one’s life, and I’ll simply have to be patient until I get an answer. But…even to all of my followers, it means a lot to me that you guys stick around too for my content. Even if it’s not that great. Thank you so much.
I’ll try to post commissions too. Even if they’re traditional, the prices will probably have to be juggled, but I’ll do something. Chances are, they will be rather cheap for a while. Just something to think about.
Thank you guys for sticking around, and have a good one. I’ll be trying my best to post something soon.

🐺🦌Deer-er Wolf🐺🦌
Dire Deer? Di(ee)r wolf? Idk y’all, I’m trying. You remember how I mentioned in my last post that one of the members in my DnD party has a dire wolf puppy? Well, as a circle of the moon Druid, that came in handy on more then one occasion. This is an interpretation of Aspen, my DnD character in her dire wolf form! I thought it’d be fun to give it a deer coat, since Aspen is basically a deer Satyr. This was a piece I drew originally last year, but added some color to digitally today because I’m really trying to start a pattern to my Instagram feed-grid-thing. I’ll have some new art soon, I’ve been working on a big piece as a wedding gift for this weekend, but I do have a painting almost ready to go for next week :)
[ID: A traditional and digital illustration of a dire wolf with deer-like patterns. It shows her full body, and she faces right, her head turned toward the viewer. Where her paws touch the ground, sketchy grasses and flowers bloom. The background green, with a rust colored square behind most of the body.
Image 2: Close-up of the Dire wolf’s face and neck, this time a solely traditional drawing. It is now a great scale drawing, except for part of the square that is visible, which is hatch marked and brown. The picture is cropped at the tips of the ears, and just after the front shoulder.
Image 3: Close-up of of the Dire wolf’s legs, this time a solely traditional pencil drawing. The grasses and flowers, along with the visible part of the square are in brown ink. The picture is cropped at the chest, the base of the tail, and the tops of the legs. /end ID]

Looking ahead to next year and starting to formulate a plan. I’m still in limbo with fafsa, making the precise time of return to college look a little murky. I’m hoping to be able to go back in the spring, I very much doubt fafsa will come through in time for January.
As such my plan is starting to look like:
Continue reviewing calc stuff & linear algebra as needed.
Start watching more college geometry videos in anticipation of taking that in the spring time, as well as differential equations videos
Continue working through: tilings & patterns and nonlinear dynamics & chaos
There is probably going to be incidental geometry review during this process as well.
Start playing around with geogebra, start reviewing python.
In addition to the maths stuff, I want to start working more on languages. I’m not sure if I’ll take any when I’m back in school, although I may take some German, if only a class or two is left for me to get a minor. I want to start reviewing German and using it more, specifically finding ways to start speaking it more & continuing to work on reading comprehension. It would be nice to get myself to a place where before I’m done with the degree I can finally take the fluency test in German.
I’ve started working on French which I have some childhood experience in & I’m continuing to work on deepening my understanding & skills with central Thai as well as the ne eastern dialect. Additionally I will be starting to work on Laotian (which is related to both Thai/Thai isaan) and I’ve slowly started to learn Mandarin, as well. I’m also reviewing Japanese with the intent of going further with it this time. I haven’t had a chance to really look at what my options are for testing to prove fluency in the other languages as I develop them, but hopefully that will all fall into place as it comes together.
Obviously will continue to art & illustrate & I have some comics starting to formulate. I’ve been writing more for myself and I may be on the hook for writing something for an upcoming rpg soon. Beyond this I have a few ideas on the back burner for games (medieval Fraser, math based spells, tomb of the acid lich), as well as a city 23 project I will be starting soon (trying to get just a bit more caught up on illustration).
I’ve also been editing some materials for English language learning and am hoping to be creating some further tools for English acquisition (meaning frightfully I may have to do some review of English language rules) .
Finally hoping to get some time in there to write about autism & my experiences around it, both in long form and comics. I also want to experiment more with digital animation and traditional painting. And time allowing actually like relax and watch a lakorn or several.

Art Tips for Vibrant Lighting
Some tips and tricks for getting glowy, beautiful, vibrant lighting effects...especially in traditional art, with no ctrl+z! The example piece is a watercolor work in progress of mine and, if you’re familiar with watercolor, you know it’s super unforgiving. What you put down stays!
Tip 1: Create a thumbnail
Do a very loose, messy sketch of your illustration. This helps define the composition, but it can also help you pick where your light is coming from and what colors you’ll use for it. This way, you can reference the light source and colors while you’re painting!
Even if you’re working digitally, this creates a great color key you can turn back to. You can make a thumbnail digitally or traditionally.
This thumbnail only took about 20 minutes...and it’s saved so many headaches during the painting process.
When you have a thumbnail, the rest of your painting is just a translation of those colors with a better technique.
Tips:
Feel free to make many thumbnails! This is the easiest step to revise and repeat.
Use a photo for inspiration for your color scheme. I used clouds in the evening as color references.
Play around with layers and effects (like overlay, multiply). This can help you figure out new colors that you can then try to capture traditionally!
Tip 2: Don’t forget about your lines!
Line art is important for gradients! I did mine first, so I had to consider the glow effect too. It’s a bit blurry (as its a screenshot from a reel, lol), but you can see yellows to dark browns and blacks. This established the glow from the start!
Tips:
Consider using a media you can get gradients in. I used acryla gouache here, but ink, watercolor, and even markers can work well!
If it’s hard to visualize highlights in line art, do the lines after with pen or paint! Adding shadows and highlights that way can be easier.
Tip 3: Start with big gradients first
Once you have your sketch on paper finished, start with large gradients! This helps define your light source and keep your whole composition making sense.
Here, I started with the background sky, then added in the shadow coming off the wing before doing anything else. Take note of how helpful the thumbnail was in helping me lay this all out, too!
Tip 4: Think warm to cool
See how both the hair and wings move from warm (yellow/browns) to cool colors (blues, payne’s grey)? This is a surefire way to keep the strong light source and make it look like the light is glowing!
Tips:
This is all about keeping the colors close to your light source, so if your light source is cool (like the moon), your highlights are cool and your shadows are warm tones. The key is just to keep it consistent!
Lighting isn’t just light to dark gradients. It’s also warm to cool/cool to warm!
Think about all the spots the light catches (like that one front feather on the left top). It takes a lot of thinking through, but it’ll make a huge impact! (Remember, you can always revisit your thumbnail or add more details in there)
Don’t forget about reflected light, bouncing off another surface. It’ll be more subtle than the main light source, but still there!
Final Tips:
Love those gradients! Watercolor is meant for beautiful gradients, so use multiple colors for a glow. The feathers in the light go from yellow ochre to prussian blue to payne’s grey.
Start with the highlights first, then work into the shadows! Above, the skin isn’t even painted with shadows yet, because I wanted to get the lighting first.
This is just a WIP right now, but I hope these tips help! If you want to follow, I’ll be posting more progress pics (and the finished illustration soon too). :D

I finally have this introduction ready for you ^V^
Who am I?
I am a 26 soon-to-be 27 year old person from Denmark going by the names Marco or Njor - both works ^V^ my zodiac sign is taurus and the chinese zodiac is the pig. I am introverted autistic nerd who loves animated series especially the queer ones and I also have a soft spot for everything mythology, a love that started with Danish cartoons about Norse mythology and then later Percy Jackson. I strive to live as a kind and honest human being and I will be meowing at you if I feel comfortable so I am basically a 5,10′’/179 cm tall cat.
What is my gender and pronouns?
I am AFAB and identify as nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them. I am pre-medical transition and only started socially transitioning. Someday I’d love top surgery and maybe/maybe not take hormones as well.
What is my sexuality?
I am asexual and on the aromantic spectrum so aro-ace for short.
What are my hobbies?
I spend a lot of time drawing yet do also own some guitars and ukuleles that I like to pretend I can play decently. I can play enough to make some songs ^V^ I sing in an amateur choir once a week and also enjoy open mics in my city sharing my songs with other likeminded artistic wierdos (affectionate) Otherwise I love reading - which will mostly be fantasy or queer contemporaries - or keep up with some good shows especially if animated. Very seldom I enjoy lowkey cosplaying but I mostly “just” do Nico di Angelo because I like him x’D I also have a Castiel cosplay and a Pippin Took cosplay and I am kind of saving up to cosplaying one of my own characters xD
What kind of art do I make?
I mostly do fanart of my favourite movies and series and/or characters I like. Sometimes I’ll also share my original characters. I use both digital media (paint tool sai version 2) and traditional media (pen and pencil, sometimes coloured pencil too).
What kind of media do I like?
Here’s a non-exhaustive lists of fandoms I feel like I am a part of that you may or may not see me post/reblog on this blog:
Tales of Arcadia, Riordanverse, The Owl House, How to Train Your Dragon, Shadowhunter Chronicles, Osemanverse, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Arcane, Lord of the Rings, She Ra and the Princesses of Power, Supernatural, Pixar, Encanto
May you draw my characters?
You are more than welcome to draw my characters yet keep it SFW. All characters can be found on my toyhouse here - you guys would probably mostly be familiar with Mars and Pau.
Leftie or rightie?
I am lefthanded yet somehow still try to catch everything with my right - guess that could be one excuse for why I am this clumsy
What are things I cannot live without?
My headphones, some sort of comfort or stimming toy (rn that is plushies), drawing tablet and/or pen and paper
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask ^V^
#about the artist#meet the artist#yup that's me#probably went too wild with the describtion#sorry about that#I hope it is interesting information tho#my own art#digital art

Hi! I hope you're doing well! I've been meaning to reach out to you for a while but I'm always so nervous! I wanted to tell you that I'm always so impressed by your animations and I wanted to ask if you had any advice? I would like to learn but I have no idea how to begin. How do you go about it and how did you start learning this process? Thank you very much and I hope all is well!
Hello!!! First off I want to apologize for it taking so long to respond to you- we had a lot of autumnal food storing to do and I was short on time. Animation is something I'm very passionate about and I wanted to give you a thorough answer because I would absolutely LOVE to help you get started in animating!! If there's anything I don't cover, or if you have a more specific question, feel free to send another ask and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. :)
I didn't really do much to get started, I just kinda jumped in with photoshop cs5 (I DON'T recommend doing that LOL 😂) I wanted to make an animated series with my brother so I just started working on the trailer which is like 30 seconds pffft. Since then I've just been learning as I go picking up stuff from watching movies closely. I've still got a lot of basics to figure out like thumbnailing a sequence before you try to animate it, and timing charts (which is what I'm trying to work on now hehe)
My biggest piece of advice for you would be to just jump into it! I think there is no advice that can get anyone started better than to just start doing it. I know that can sound daunting, but there is no better way to get better at any form of art (drawing, writing, singing, etc.) than to just start. You'll learn the best by learning from your own mistakes, as hard as that can be. XD
You can start with some simple exercises to get the hang of moving something, like animate a ball bouncing or a hamster doing a backflip- just whatever sounds most do-able to you. (Do yourself a favor and don't start with a walk/run cycle though. They seem simple but are actually one of the hardest things to animate lol Be smarter than me. XDD) Just start small and work up from there. Go from animating a ball to animating a blink, then animate something turning it's head, saying something, waving, flapping wings. The more animating the more you'll catch the hang of it and drawing the motions will become intuitive. In general, just don't be afraid to try- and if it doesn't look right, don't give up! :D
Richard Williams book, "The Animator's Survival Kit" is a wonderful resource for getting started animating. He walks the reader through the very basics, and then the fundamentals of animation and how to apply it, like squash and stretch and takes. I was able to find a copy at my library and then later bought one off Abebooks for around $12. I haven't finished the book but I did peek ahead and see lip syncing and walk cycles and other wider motions.
I've found a lot of art programs come with an animation system built in. I don't know what program you're using, but I personally love the one for Krita. I find the entire program intuitive and easy to use (that's also my drawing program XD), and the animation window is seconded only by ToonBoom (the current industry standard software which is also EXCELLENT just pricey. You can get a one month free trial for each of the three versions if you want to test it out. Unlike Krita, ToonBoom can make 2d puppets and do "flash" animation.) If you are having trouble with digital animation you can still practice with traditional sketches, I made a tutorial thing for a friend on that here. Flipbooks are something I've heard of working? Like animating on a pad of sticky notes, but I haven't been able to get that to work well for me but you could try it!
If you have any more specific questions I'd love to help you however I am able! Here are some of the resources I've found useful:
Again, I can't recommend enough Richard Williams' book "The Animator's Survival Guide" (an animator trained by Milt Kahl) if you want to understand the basics and are still confused where to start. Also Frances Glebas' (a renowned director) storyboarding book "Directing the Story". Both of those books have been immensely helpful and I can't wait for the free time to read them more and put to action the lessons! XD
Here's a link to James Baxter's (my animator hero lol) youtube account, where you can study snippets of a master animator's work: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt2iDOfRW1WWu5SxgJJpP1g
I've also found following accounts of animators on instagram has been a help, they'll often post "breakdowns" of shots explaining why they chose what shapes and how they decided to pace motions and stuff like that. jakeleeanimation this dude posts a lot of studies of disney animations kenduncan9 director of the studio that animated Tarzan and Hercules, among others pumbaaguy animator of Kronk and Pumba! framebyframe_animation this helpful account slows animations down and really walks you through the forms and pacing johnpomeroyart worked on Pocahontas and Atlantis, likes teaching people animation! theanimationart explanatory username lol XD AND OF COURSE aaronblaiseart who has retired from animating to TEACH animation and was also trained by the original disney pioneer animators. He does have a website where you can buy a course, and while it is pricey it does often go on sale. I haven't caught the chance to watch through all the episodes yet but I was able to purchase the series for $10 last year.
Also I seriously mean it, if you have any other questions feel free to ask. XD There's so much info I'm not sure where to start or what would be most helpful for you to get you started. :,)

Allright. Elliott thread that nobody asked for. Part 4
The words you read seem to be some alien gibberish? Try these first:
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Don’t worry guys. It will be over soon, I promise.
Bevore we start: This happened yesterday.
And I basically turned into that iCarly gif, where she’s on the Computer, sippin’ her drink and goes: interesting.
Because look who we have here. Our future husband acting all self-aware? Right after I assumed in my last post that he never talks about the possibility of his failure...
Elliott, do you know that I talk shit about you on Tumblr?
Please stop breaking the 4th wall...
To safe at least some of my ‘credibility’, he followed this up with something along the lines of:
“No, no...I am not fishing for compliments. Which does not mean I don't appreciate them ;) “.
Sure. Whatever.
In comparison to that:
A few in-game days previously, I had a cut-scene with Leah, where the player can suggest that she should organise an art show. And there, Leah openly communicated her fears of ppl not liking her art. I was surprised about how open she was, given that it was probably her 2nd heart event or something (?). It's interesting, how Leah (who I perceived to be more reserved than Elliott), was so willing to let us know about her insecurities. Meanwhile, Elliot seems to brush these thoughts aside rather quickly and returns to his nonchalant, graceful self.
I always thought that from the two of them, it might be Elliott who is more vocal about his emotions. But now, Elliott doesn't seem to wear his heart on his sleeves as much as I thought he would. Which changed the way I think about him quite a bit. Maybe he is more likely to hide behind platitudes and a self-assuring smile, after all.
And what can we take from this, when we would want to write, let’s say a scene with Leah/Elliott friendship dynamic?
What do you guys think?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyways, before I was so disgracefully exposed, I was roasting Elliott’s life choices. To which I now gladly return to.
You see, the "issue" I see with Elliott is, that he plays into a trope:
The brooding hermitic author, who turned his back onto society in favour of finding inspiration in nature.
While this might sound thrilling and "romantic", we know that Elliott is not the best candidate to conform to this lifestyle. Just compare, how we as the player, manage to form quite strong relationships with everyone in Pelikan Town just by talking to them regularly.
We see Elliott outside the beach-area quite often. But aside from Leah, he does not seem to interact with anyone much. I don't know if there are statements about Elliott made by other characters, to have some inkling on how they feel about him. But its quite remarkable, how all other friendships outside to his connection with Leah, are not explicitly known as canon (?).
After a whole year living in this town, previous to our arrival, I would suggest, that Elliott might still be very much an outsider. He even remarks how, with our arrival, it will be nice, to no longer be "the new guy" in town.
But the problem with that might have been Elliott's reservedness, to begin with. Polite, but yet, maybe, quite impersonal. All pleasantries and platitudes as mentioned above. It all plays into Elliott's refusal to experience the comforts of a normal lifestyle in favour of pursuing his art.
And I love how Elliott just brushes that aside as if its nothing. I'd really love to know: what would have been his plan b, if his debut failed?
Worst case cenario: What would he'd done, if he ended up stranded in Pelikan Town, penniless and unsuccessful?
Where would he go? Is there a place he can return to? A previous home, previous friends?
I don't think so.
But, dedicated, impuslive, sweet, dumb Elliott just thought to himself:
“I can do that. How bad can it be???, it will be fi~ne.It will be marvellous!
Authentic, truly!
It will be superb pictouresque and that is all I need to write my novel....”
Thanks Yoba. You’ll keep doing that please.
And then we also have interactions of the likes of:
“People have scaped a living off the sea for thousands of years....
I just go to the grocery store.”
A different thought I had on Elliott kind of plays into what I already said previously. But I will adress it as its own topic.
The downside of Elliott’s ego.
As much as we explored the rather whacky / chaotic elements of his character and how he does stupid shit for prestige itself, it is interesting to see what happens when the player challenges his self-dramatisation.
I keep re-thinking if and to what degree Elliott can laugh about himself.
He is not one for self-deprecating humour, I think.
I can imagine that to be more Shane’s thing.
We see different scenarios, in which Elliott reacts differently to things not going his way. One of the positives is the whole “A tiny crab made a home inside his coat pocket”- story. I have seen two interpretations of this scene. And both are dependent on the tone, in which you read his dialogue. One group thinks he is just complaining yet again.
On the other hand, you could read it more like:
“My, look what we have here. Can you believe that [y/name]?!“.
I think that Elliott does not appear to be angry or annoyed at all in that scenario, too. He could have vented to the player, how he needs a new coat, now. But he simply leaves it at that. And you know what?
But, there are other times, where Elliott reacts negatively to the player not doing what he wants you to do. Meaning: your reaction to him or your behaviour in a specific situation. Let's look at his 2nd (?) heart event at the Stardrop Saloon. He comes up to the bar, finds himself in the mood for company, and orders wine for you and ale for himself.
New Headcanon:
That little crab still lives there! It will probably live there long after you two get married. And he will feed it scraps from the dinner table even though you ask him not to.
Whatever...Sounds Cute.
My first reaction to that was: “aw, wHaT a GeNtLemAn!!!”. My second reaction was my inner feminist having a temper tantrum because: “how dare a man, to assume what I want to drink!”
New Headcanon on Elliott and gender roles, anyone? Or is it given, that with him being a good old fashioned lover boy, his expectation on any relationship dynamic might be more traditional?
As much as I find Elliott charming and all, this could be a great red flag and, again, beautiful material for character-conflict. Maybe Elliott needs to learn to not take everything at face value. Maybe he needs to learn, how to take a joke. Especially those made at his expense.
However, when the question arises, what the two of you should drink on, he will not laugh if you say “your doom”.
This is not something he sees as sarcasm or as a joke. In fact, you lose 50 friendship points! Like holy shit. That in itself is not much, but its a game-penalty. He is actively reacting negatively toward you. This is one of the few times, where your decision actively has an impact on the friendship-metre. Of course, that statement could be delivered in a non-joking matter. Which then justifies his reaction.... sure.
But even the fact that Elliott chooses, to not downplay or gloss-over your comment, leaves me with the following interpretation:
He hoped for a charming, flirtatious interaction. All you had to do, was to play along. But you ruined it.
Just imagine a situation with a little bit of miss-communication and a version of Elliott that is a little too proud for his own good and *chef's kiss* we have drama.
Me to Elliott and Farmer-OC: fight! fight! fight! fight! :D
All of you reading right now:
omg can't you just chill??? We are here for the fluff :(((
Also: depending on how it's written, that could be one of Elliott's major character flaws. The one that is not cute at all!
__________________________
I wanted to take some jabs at Elliott's likes and dislikes. But as it turned out: Yes, you can turn Duck feathers into quills. I had this funny headcanon that Elliott wanted to be extra special by choosing duck feathers as his preferred writing instrument. And I was all like: “use a pen!!”.
But then I found out about the Unobtainable Weapons-List and Elliott’s pen is one of them. Okay, whatever.
And then I asked google how to make quills. And while duck feathers are not the preferred or most popular option, there is also nothing that would speak against it, as long as the feather’s shaft is durable enough. So that theory has flown out of the window pretty quickly as well.
The only thing that comes to my mind instead is, how Elliott would still need a digital manuscript for publishing. But me screaming: “Where is your Laptop Elliott??? You need a computer! Its the 21 century!!!” is not half that funny anymore.
I guess I’ll end it here.
I hope you enjoyed this completely useless stream of consciousness.
I will now continue playing Stardew Valley and indulge in all my other quarantine-born obsessions.
I wish you a wonderful day and happy farming.
Welcome to Sam and Max Secret Santa 2020!
Hi! Welcome to the introductory post of the first year of the Sam and Max Secret Santa! This is all hosted by Theo/@tvvorld and the help of some of my friends as well! Before I get more into it, if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, then please message this account and I’ll get back as soon as possible ^_^!
So... What is the Sam and Max Secret Santa?
The Sam and Max Secret Santa is an event in which fans of Sam and Max can have a chance to gift art to one another and receive art as well! Fans are assigned with one another anonymously until December 25th-31st, in which artists can reveal themselves and give their gift to their partner! I decided to hold this with the new burst of Sam and Max content being released this year and to have a chance for fans old and new to be able to meet and get something nice for the year :)!
This is the first year this has been held and my first attempt at holding a Secret Santa so this may be a little rough, but I am open to keeping it as organized as possible and to improve this as well for a possible continuity for next year!
How do I sign up?
Sign-ups are on Google Forms and is linked here! There will also be a link at the bottom as well and will be linked in the description of this account. As a side note, if you change your url, please either update your form or let me know; it’ll help me a lot with organization!
Anyone can sign up, with the only restrictions to not ask or produce/or do any shitty stuff. This includes the promotion of anything racist, lgbt-phobic, pedophilic, being shitty about what you receive, etc. I will drop you if you behave in this sort of way. I want this to be an event safe for all and that includes trying to stray away from anything of the sort. Please, understand this, as it’s genuinely the only thing I really ask.
What is the timeline?
The due date for all sign-ups will be Monday, November 30th and partners will be assigned between Tuesday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 2nd. Unless you notify that you are unable to finish your piece or that you want to drop out, then submissions will be accepted until Friday, December 25th. You can still share your art up until Saturday, December 31st, but only if you have already submitted a piece and choose to refine it a bit before sending it or if you are a back-up Secret Santa.
Anything else I need to know?
As of now art and writing is what is accepted. Art can be defined as anything that is traditional, digital, 3D, anything like that. I would like to open up for other submissions, though I would rather keep the pool relatively small now and gradually grow this out! I am open to suggestions for whatever gifts should be available!
Do not use other people’s content to gift to other. What this means is don’t trace or steal other’s works and try to pass it off as your own.
Please be respectful of other’s discomforts and vice versa. If you aren’t I won’t hesitate to drop you.
Please don’t post WIPs or the content itself until after you’ve given the piece to your partner!
If you receive someone who’s request might be uncomfortable for you, then let me know through DM on this account or through a message on my discord (rosita#6036).
Once again, if you have any more questions, concerns, or comments, then feel free to let me know! I am busy with stuff in my own life, but I am trying my best to organize this and be able to respond to anything that’s needed!
Sign-ups here!
[ P.S. Reblogs heavily appreciated! The more the better :+) ]
Violet’s Commissions [OPEN!]
Oh look! Commissions! Here’s something I’ve never really done before on here. I spent quite a while setting all this up, so lets see how things go! Please ignore the lackluster price sheets I am not a graphic designer
A list of things I will and won’t draw are below the cut, as well as other information, links to my stuff, etc, etc!
If you’re interested in commissioning me, either dm me here on Tumblr or shoot me an e-mail at [email protected]!
Reblogs are very much appreciated!
Details and Stuff
I use Paypal Invoices, so I’ll need your Paypal address in order for you to commission me! Payment is required upfront, and I’ll get to work as soon as possible after payment has been received!
Finished artwork is completely digital, so nothing physical will be shipped
Completion time is estimated between one week to one month, depending on how busy I am, your space in line, and the size of your commission. I try to get things done as quickly as possible though!
I’ll draw most ocs and fan characters! Though if I don’t feel like I could draw a character well I may have to politely decline your request.
Please provide references of your character, digital is preferred for colour picking but high quality images of traditional work is also okay.
I am not doing design commissions, so if you don't have a drawing of your character for me to reference from, then I won't be able to draw them.
Generally I'm more confident drawing boys and more androgynous characters, but I can and will draw more feminine characters.
If you're looking for something a bit different to what I have listed here, feel free to get in contact with me and we can chat and maybe figure something out!
I Will Draw
Humanoids
Anthros
Ferals (sometimes)*
Cute Stuff
Mild Violence
I Won't Draw
NSFW (Sex, gore, etc)
Mechs/Robots
Real People
Excessively complicated designs/outfits
Extreme anatomy**
*My skill at drawing animals is still very much in development. For headshots and smols I should be fine, but half-bodies and full-bodies may not always be possible. It depends on the character though, so feel free to ask if you're unsure. **Things like super buff characters, characters with oversized breasts, stuff like that, feel free to ask if you're unsure about this though!
You can find my Terms of Service here!
Commission Progress Thing on Trello!
If you don’t want to commission me, but still want to support me, here’s my Ko-Fi!
You can find plenty of art examples in my art tag!
All my other links and things are on my Carrd!
I hope to hear from some of you soon!
Step-by-step guide on how to participate on the Bingo Fest: a manual for the uninitiated
As there may be people who have never participated in a fandom event like this before, we thought we’d provide you all with a step-by-step guide you can refer to throughout the fest in case you have difficulty figuring any of it out.
This post will walk you through how to sign up and participate on our current fest, but if you have any further doubts don’t hesitate to ask us :)
Step 1: sign up
The first thing you need to do to participate is to go to this google form to sign up. All that we require is a way to contact you (like an email or your tumblr url) so we can send you your bingo card. Once you’ve done that, you’ll receive your card shortly and can start creating!
Step 2: the bingo card
Here is an example of what the bingo cards will look like:
As you can see, the cards will be 5x5 with a total of 25 prompts. After you read all the prompts, consider which you’d like to use as inspiration. Some people start with whichever prompt inspires them, some try to find which line of prompts they like the best (remember you get bingo by completing a straight line of 5 prompts, horizontally, vertically or diagonally). Some even attempt to complete the entire bingo card!
Once you decide which prompt(s) you’ll use, get started on your writing and/or art! You can combine different prompts for one piece or make one fanwork for each. For example, you can use the prompts ‘family’ and ‘prequel’ in one work. Remember that for this fest we set a minimum word count of 500 words per prompt for written fanworks, so if you choose to combine prompts into one fic, the minimum word count adds up (if you choose to combine ‘prequel’ and ‘family’, that’s 2 prompts, so that fic should have at least 1000 words; if you choose to combine ‘prequel’, ‘family’ and ‘torchwood one’ into one fic, the word count should be at least 1500 words, and so on). There is no maximum word count.
Artists can combine as many prompts into one piece as they want, but the total number of individual art pieces we require for bingo is three fanworks (can be a mix of different types of art). Participants can also combine writing and art as their submissions to get bingo.
Edit to add: for fanvideos and video edits you need a minimum of 30 seconds per square to fill the prompt. Prompts can be combined, and there is no maximum length. For playlists and tracklists, you need at least 3 tracks per prompt, plus a few lines of text to tell the story you’re putting together. This explanation can be written however you want, it can read like a summary of the story, like not!fic, like a short drabble, or you can just say why you picked the songs (e.g. “I picked this song because this lyric fits how this character was feeling when X happened”, or “this song illustrates this character’s opinion about Y”). As usual, prompts can be combined, and there is no maximum length.
I’ll use the sample bingo card to give you some examples of what completing a line might look like.
Note: for the prompt squares that have more than one option separated by slashes (like “plants/vegetables”) you need to use only one of them, the slash stands for “or” in this case.
Example 1: vertical line bingo (writing)
Fic #1: bed sharing, 650 words
Fic #2: rarepair + meet the family, 1000 words
Fic #3: torchwood one, 1400 words
Fic #4: the hub goes on lockdown, 520 words
In this case, each fic reaches the minimum word count of 500 words per prompt, as you can see. This could also look like one fic of at least 2500 words which hits all the prompts. More on posting after a few more examples.
Example 2: diagonal line bingo (art)
Art piece #1: bed sharing, moodboard
Art piece #2: crossover+undercover, digital painting
Art piece #3: family, edit
Art piece #4: plants/vegetables, digital painting
This example has one piece that combines two prompts, and three pieces for single prompts. With a total of four pieces, this counts as bingo (minimum for art submissions is a total of three if all your fanworks are art).
Example 3: horizontal line (writing+art)
Fic #1: torchwood one+prequel, 1200 words
Fic #2: family, 2000 words
Art #1: dancing, traditional drawing
Art #2: andy davidson, craft
This example combines different types of fanworks and clears all the requirements (at least 500 word count per prompt and more than three pieces total).
Sidenote: if you’re having trouble thinking of what to do with a prompt, a good way to come up with ideas is to crowdsource the brainstorming process! Post about it on your blog asking for suggestions, ask a friend, discuss it in groupchats with other fans, or send us an ask for some suggestions. Remember, you don’t have to go with the most obvious interpretation of a prompt, trope subversion and creative interpretations are welcome here! You got ‘mpreg’ but don’t want to get into an mpreg story? Write about Jack mentioning how there’s a humanoid alien race where everyone can get pregnant! Or have him make a comment about a male friend of his from the 51st century who carried a child for a friend of his. Or have any male character have a dream about being pregnant, whether that’s possible for them or not (and this is Torchwood, so nothing is quite impossible). Take the prompt and twist it into something you like!
Step 3: posting your works!
Once you start completing some fanworks, you can post them at any point for the duration of the fest (August 18th to September 30th). While you do not have to post them as you make them and could wait until the last day, we do not recommend that as we foresee there will be more people finishing some works at the last minute and so it’ll be easier for your fanworks to get attention if you post them early.
The posting process is simple: you need to post your work on your own tumblr first. This post needs to have; 1) the fanwork or a link to the fanwork, and 2) any relevant content warnings (check our list of mandatory content warnings here). That’s it! Please note that anything that requires a content warning (including sexually explicit content) should be under a cut.
For fic, we recommend that you share some information in order to give potential readers an idea of what it’s about (title, summary, rating, prompt, and you can add an author’s note if you want), and if you post to ao3, you should add it to our collection! You can do this when you first post it (or go back to edit later) under ‘Associations> Post to Collections / Challenges’, where you simply have to type torchwoodbingo2020 and select our collection. Art can also be posted to ao3 and added to the collection!
Step 4: submitting your work for us to reblog
After you post your fanwork to your tumblr, you need to copy the link of the post and submit it to this google form so we can reblog it to this blog. We will not reblog posts that don’t have the appropriate content warnings so please be sure to warn as needed.
Step 5: creating your masterpost (optional)
Once you’re done with the fest, whether you’ve managed to get bingo or not (or if you’re very ambitious, if you’ve cleared the entire card), we would recommend that you make a masterpost of the works you’ve made for this fest. This is not required, but it’s very satisfying and it’s a good way to look back on what you’ve accomplished and to promote your fanworks again :)
Like the examples above, the typical masterpost would have your bingo card (with the prompts you’ve used marked in some way) and a list of your fanworks with links to each of them and which prompt they fill.
You can submit this masterpost to the same google form as above and we will reblog it as well :)
And that’s it!
If you have any further questions, you can send them here and we will try to answer them as soon as possible.
We hope this post helps clear some doubts about how the fest works and that we get as many people involved as possible ^_^
🐺🦌Deer-er Wolf🐺🦌
Dire Deer? Di(ee)r wolf? Idk y’all, I’m trying. You remember how I mentioned in my last post that one of the members in my DnD party has a dire wolf puppy? Well, as a circle of the moon Druid, that came in handy on more then one occasion. This is an interpretation of Aspen, my DnD character in her dire wolf form! I thought it’d be fun to give it a deer coat, since Aspen is basically a deer Satyr. This was a piece I drew originally last year, but added some color to digitally today because I’m really trying to start a pattern to my Instagram feed-grid-thing. I’ll have some new art soon, I’ve been working on a big piece as a wedding gift for this weekend, but I do have a painting almost ready to go for next week :)
[ID: A traditional and digital illustration of a dire wolf with deer-like patterns. It shows her full body, and she faces right, her head turned toward the viewer. Where her paws touch the ground, sketchy grasses and flowers bloom. The background green, with a rust colored square behind most of the body.
Image 2: Close-up of the Dire wolf’s face and neck, this time a solely traditional drawing. It is now a great scale drawing, except for part of the square that is visible, which is hatch marked and brown. The picture is cropped at the tips of the ears, and just after the front shoulder.
Image 3: Close-up of of the Dire wolf’s legs, this time a solely traditional pencil drawing. The grasses and flowers, along with the visible part of the square are in brown ink. The picture is cropped at the chest, the base of the tail, and the tops of the legs. /end ID]
hello hello its been a few days but i, the dream nonsie, am back! (also my name actually means "dream" irl 👀) personally, i think a silveny flavored popsicle would be cinnamon-y as u said, but also... sparkly? in a way? not- not like actual glitter, thats disgusting, but.. when u eat it it just *feels* magical. not sure if im making sense lol ^^ aww, glad my crazy dream made you happy! :D ask word limit is getting close so imma continue in another ask if thats okay with you! <3 1/?
hello!! welcome back--i gotta admit I was not expecting this, but it's so nice of you and I really appreciate it <33. I hope you don't mind me compiling this all into one post, that way it's just a little more organized. you're entirely welcome to send as many asks as you want, so don't worry about continuing in others! I don't mind at all!
1. oo that's a really cool name meaning!! I always think it's interesting to hear what other people's name mean, or they meanings they've chosen to associate with them (as some have more that one). Quil doesn't really have a meaning, so I love hearing others'!! The only thing I miss about my dead name is the meaning, tbh, because it was pretty !!
also, I can totally imagine the cinnamon/sparkly popsicle. when you say that I immediately think of sparkling water for some reason, like it's not a taste it's a feeling. you put it in your mouth and it's an experience. you're wild dream was probably the highlight of my day!! something about it just stood out and I kept coming back to think about it. long silveny popsicles can do that to you, i guess
2. oopsie! my bad! when someone says writing I usually just default to the wings au, because that's the writing most people know me for. but!! i'm glad you like all the analyses I've done! I don't think they'll be stopping anytime soon--it's like everytime I answer an ask I get two more, which means there will be a steady stream of them for the forseable future. I really enjoy doing them, so I love hearing that people enjoy reading them! they're mostly just me rambling until I find a pattern or connection to latch onto, and then I build from there. and depending on the ask I might grab a book from my shelf to reference something if needed
also: thank you! The wings au is a pretty big project I've wanted to take on for a while, so it's absolutely thrilling to see people interact with it and talk about it--even if they haven't read it. There's absolutely no pressure on you to read it, just so you know! Honestly sometimes baffles me that I've gotten fanart and so many asks and comments on it, enough so that people who haven't read it still know what it is. like?? my wings au?? silly little idea I had all because of one stray thought one day?
as for writing it while taking college classes: yes! that's what I've been doing! I think i've had a combined total of like three weeks of break since January (i don't get summer), but aside from that i've had four or five classes while writing the au. Actually was taking an A&P class (which are notoriously difficult, even more so on summer schedule) this summer while working on it, which was wild. But a lot of the excited comments and theories and general interaction helped motivate me to keep going.
3. it's not dissapointing at all! I don't expect for anyone to read it, it's not something you have to do in order to interact with me and the stuff on my blog. it's just something I happen to be doing so if you like it you're welcome to engage with it! I actually don't read fanfic very often either, which may be surprising as I write it. Occasionally I binge a bunch of fics in a certain ship when I'm in the mood, but that's only once every few months. Ships just don't hold huge appeal for me, so I don't find a lot of fic that interests me. Also wow! mine was one of the first you've heard of?? that's a huge accomplishment to me, thank you! Where did you hear about it? I honestly don't know where people find my au, so I'm curious.
speaking of reading fanfic, Nattie's (theunmappedstar) fic is one of the few I've read! I haven't talked to them in a while, but they're very accomplished and it's an honor to be considered alongside them in terms of writing!
as for committing to mine, feel free to take your time! no rush! it's always going to be there! although I will say it does just keep getting longer, so be prepared for that. I update every two weeks on sunday, so you've got time. if you do read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. truly, comments and just hearing what people think are the best motivation. it also enriches the story! I never know what's going to stick out to people or what they'll remember, so hearing from people gives me ideas for scenes in the future! I have a general idea of where this au is heading, but a lot of the details have been impacted by theories and comments. You absolutely don't have to though, just if you'd like I'd love to hear
4. thank you so much <33. I'd love to get back more into traditional art, as i've been focusing on digital recently. I just love how watercolors look! I actually have a few art requests from an embarrasingly long time ago (April) that I'd like to do in a traditional style. I also just haven't posted as much art recently, so I'd love to get back into that. Coloring and lighting were mostly me just winging it, trying to imagine a few colors that would look nice next to each other and then just going for it. Also, i cant even count how many times I would accidentally switch up the light source in in the middle of a piece. I actually took an art class a few semesters ago, so I have leftover supplies from that I could use for some keeper pieces! I've had a few ideas, so hopefully your encouragement can help me get back into that <33
the writer and artist thing: thank you!! both writing and art are interests of mine, so it's so cool to get recognized for both!! I remember when I started posting art I was doing it as a "I'll do this for now until I get to the writing" thing and then i accidentally became fairly well-known as an fanartist and i was just there like wait a minute this wasn't supposed to happen. But I love it!! I love doing fanart and I'd love to do more. But I also love writing! i have some ideas for aus and other one shots I'd like to do when the wings au is done, not that I'm trying to hurry that along. I thoroughly enjoy working on the wings au, and i'm not in any rush to get through it.
and don't worry, you have nothing to apologize for!! i'm glad you feel comfortable talking to me! You don't need to be concise or anything, you're welcome to take up as much space and use as many words as you'd like. I think it'd be a little hypocritical if i didn't believe that, considering how long my responses to the asks i get are (partially why they sometimes take a bit to answer). it was very much so a fun read!! I really appreciate you and wasn't even sure how to respond to everything in a way that conveyed that. I absolutely blown away by how genuine and sweet you are
i really loved this ask, and I've reread it several times because it's just so kind. thank you so much <33
#it's currently afternoon so I will try to have a good day!#I hope you have one too!#I've got some homework and a class in a few hours#but aside from that I'll kinda just chill#I know it's monday but we can try to have a good one!#I'm probably repeating myself but I don't know what else to say#i'm speechless /pos#quil's queries#long post#dream nonsie#nonsie love
Oohh I've always been a fan of curly haired Gaara!! And I've seriously become a fan of your artwork as well!! 😍😍💗💗 I love love love LOVE the way you draw Gaara and Lee!! And the backgrounds you've done are something to marvel at!! I love how subtle the background is in your gaalee comic!! And how lush and organic the floral is in your gaalee pieces with the kiss-the-hand poses!! 😍😍😭😭 if I may ask, do you make your art traditionally or digitally? And um... any tips to make lush backgrounds like yours? 😂😍 thanks, regardless you should know that I love your art!! 😍😁😂
Thank you so very much for the compliments! It means so much me that you went out of your way to tell me all of this! I work both digitally and traditionally! I usually share my digital work because it's faster and keep a lot of my traditional stuff to myself because they're usually practice sketches or things I need to get out of my system as soon as possible or else I'll forget it. I've been trying to slowly include more backgrounds in my work by not really drawing places. I mostly just include elements that might be in the bg that's important. For example, if a character is by the beach, I'll include some waves, seashells, and sunshine. None of it has to be to scale, just in a place where scale and composition makes sense. For my Gaara/Lee flora drawing, I chose plants native to where the characters live. I chose Saharan plants for Gaara's home and Japanese plants, with a lotus flower being the one plant that's more Chinese, for Lee. I varied the scale for each plant to make sure they all fit in a way that fit in a nice composition and in a way that compliments the accompanying drawing. However, I have a different approach to drawing backgrounds of places such as a bedroom, instead of what I'd just said lol
