Since I'm watching X-Files for the first time, here's my ratings of all Season 1 episodes for personal reference mostly:

Episode 1 (Pilot) : 9/10. Great Pilot. Loved Mulder here and the whirlwind Scully is being pulled into. The case isn't too exciting, though, but we get a good sense of the show's overall themes.

Episode 2 (Deep Throat): 5/10. Not too memorable? Was okay.

Episode 3 (Squeeze): 7/10. Eerie enough and some actual Supernatural stuff going on. Not too vague, but instead we get to see the Supernatural creature in action.

Episode 4 (Conduit): 6/10 just made me feel sad for Mulder. The case itself isn't too interesting.

Episode 5 (The Jersey Devil): 9/10. Interesting af. Some funny moments and the parallel between Scully trying to navigate her private life vs Mulder going all in is too entertaining. Loved it.

Episode 6 (Shadows): Umm. I did not gaf. 3/10?

Episode 7 (Ghost in the Machine): 6/10 pretty cool.

Episode 8 (Ice): why/10 you can't beat the OG. that scene with Scully and Mulder in the tiny room was hot though x

Episode 9 (Space): idgaf/10 boring

Episode 10 (Fallen Angel): 😩/10 this was the shit. mulder is insane and I'm living

Episode 11 (Eve): 6/10 bit too crazy for me bc wtf? ate

Episode 12 (Fire): 7/10 love a little drama, the case itself was mediocre though

Episode 13 (Beyond the Sea): 9/10 literally brilliant I loved every minute.

Episode 14 (Gender Bender): 6/10 had some good scenes but the overall plot was too ? vague for me ig?

Episode 15 (Lazarus): 7/10 kinda camp. kinda funny.

Episode 16 (Young at Heart): 8/10 ridiculous!!!! loved it

Episode 17 (E.B.E.): 😩/10 Scully and Mulder can only trust each other. I love it.

Episode 18 (Miracle Man): 8/10 Loved the miracle kid, bery interesting character. The real killer was obvious but I still enjoyed this episode a lot.

Episode 19 (Shapes): 4/10 I kinda didn't care

Episode 20 (Darkness Falls): 0/10 fell asleep

Episode 21 (Tooms): 7/10 interesting bc I like that they revisited an earlier case but I wasn't captivated saldly

Episode 22 (Born Again): 6/10 a bit ridiculous but enjoyable

Episode 23 (Roland): 8/10 I liked Roland's character a lot.

Episode 24 (The Erlenmeyer Flask): 😩/10 I wanna say ten out of ten this was a great season finale. Obsessed.

You and Adam probably wait awhile after your wedding until having kids, he wants to have his party lifestyle a little longer, and cmon, who can blame him?

At first he isn’t so sure, I mean, a small ball of flesh that just cries wasn’t the most entertaining thing to him… But he’ll do it for you

But the moment you tell him your pregnant, something in him clicks.

He’s very invested in the kids before their even born, he’s reading all those cheesy and old baby books constantly, cause honestly, he’s not as prepared as he’d thought he’d be

Simply because I see Adam as both a boy dad and a girl dad let’s say you two have twins 😛

He’s a good dad not gonna lie, but let’s be real, he tried to make at least one of his kids say “feces” as their first word… yeah, you weren’t too happy. 😀

Growing up, he definitely spoiled his girl and roughhoused with his boy, maybe a bit too much…

He was definitely a baseball or softball dad

Considering Adam’s foul language, they definitely grew up at swearing at a young age, but it stayed in the house dw

As the kids grew into their early teens they discovered their shared their dads powers — and bitch was through the roof about it

Adam started training them on how to use their powers to their liking, but also taught them the safety of them. He was actually a pretty good teacher ngl.

Lucifer

Obviously, from his past marriage with Lilith, he already had his first kid, so he was ready — he was just waiting for you to be as well

So when you were, he was stoked !

He was very aware and attentive during your pregnancy, trying to not make the same mistakes he did the first time around

He’s also very understanding about mood swings and he WILL go out in the middle of the night to get you cravings, he doesn’t have to, but he will

But when you both bring another daughter Morningstar into the world, Charlie is thrilled to have a younger sister!

She definitely babysits a lot, and the child definitely spends a lot of time in the hotel

Luci dedicates certain times of the day when he can not and will not have meetings or projects to be working on so he can dedicate time to both of his daughters.

He loves asking your daughter how her day was, and how schools going, but he also asks how her friends are to stress that grades aren’t the only thing that matter

As your daughter grows, she starts to develop Lucifer’s powers, only a small fraction — considering how powerful he is, but he’s stoked that not one, but now both of his daughters have his powers!

He’s been through training them before with Charlie, so he’s pretty skilled on how to do it now, but he tends to stress to your daughter the usage of the powers and the rights and wrongs are far more important than the strength you have

Vox

Vox was in no rush to have kids due to the current workload for VoxTech, but if you wanted them, all you had to do was ask

Vox, like Adam, couldn’t really wrap his head (or screen ig??) around the concept of a child until they were in his arms.

Vox wasn’t really sure how to handle a newborn, older kids were different, but this..? Maybe this wasn’t right for him…

It broke his heart every time he heard his son sob as a new born, and to be honest, he wasn’t sure what to do.

It’d be late at night and Vox would get out of your shared bed to go make sure the baby would stop crying before you’d wake.

He’d try everything, singing, rocking, bottle, changing the diaper, toys, everything. And it wouldn’t stop.

It’s not until you stir in your sleep and hear everything, you go to your son’s crib and simply hold him and he stops crying immediately, you set your son down and go back to sleep. Vox is literally amazed.

As your son ages into the ages of 6 and up is when it starts to get easier for Vox, by the time Vox can even slightly have a conversation with the kid it gets easier, the communication is a lot more clear

He doesn’t have a lot of time to play with his son due to VoxTech, so usually Vox will keep his son in his lap as he works in his office, he’ll even ask his son business questions! Even when he only gets gibberish back, he’ll take it. Hey, don’t judge him, client feedback is important.

As his son ages into his teen years, Vox starts turning a bit strict, he needs his son to be the coolest fucking kid in school, so Velvette tailors him a shit ton of clothes and Vox makes sure his son always has the newest gadget. Vox also is strict about keeping grades up, he wouldn’t ever take anything away for a bad grade, but your son may get a bit of lecture..

All of this is building up to something though, Vox really wants your son to take over VoxTech in his adult years, so he wants to make sure his son is prepared and experienced in the new world he’d enter, if he doesn’t want, Vox gets it, he may be a bit pushy though, but Vox has been in that place so he won’t push too hard.

At around the age of 15, your son developed Vox’s hypnosis powers.

Vox teaches your son how to use this to his advantage, like for example, VoxTech, but he also stressed there’s a time and place, and to not use it on someone you truly care about. Strategy is everything.

Is Vox the perfect parent? No. But no one is. But he genuinely has so much love for his son, and tbh he wants more kids…

Ok... I need to share! I just had a really big convo with my hubby about the possible connection between A and DM. What I'm about to retell are purely the thoughts of a mid-30s tech-savvy man who has absolutely no interest in the characters at play (no real bias) and in no way has drunk from the the delulu cup. He tolerates my passion, but does not share it. Ok, now I've put fourth that disclaimer, here are his batshit crazy, worryingly depressing theories...

I filled him in about recent Italy posts from DM and People, the whole situation with the woman who took the video, and the analytics re. celebs mentioned in DM and providing links to IG, and overall traffic of stories. His thoughts:

Given the analytics re. DM's behaviour (high number of links to A's IG, and relatively low traffic for stories concerning L&A vs. other people mentioned on their website), he believes one of two things could be happening. His first question was, is A wealthy? I said her family seems to be. I also told him about A's mother's interaction with DM and getting involved with negative posts. He was pretty convinced that this might be a family affair and a sizable amount of money may be paid to DM and People to publish these pieces and keep A relevant. They are not getting compensated enough through clicks and GA interest for there not to be some sort of external monetary compensation. Why else would you spend time on it? Based on A's sm activity, she is clout chasing and this seems to be her #1 focus (as is R, but that might be a separate issue). The only one benefiting rn, although slower than she probably expected, is A. He also made a point of mentioning that it was interesting that DM seems to be escalating their attempts at pushing a very A-friendly narrative, maybe because A is unhappy about how much time it is taking to boost her stocks?

This is the other, much scarier possibility re. the connection between A and DM. I'll also mention that before he said this, I gave him absolutely no backstory re. DM's past relationship with Bridgerton posting. He pondered on A and the escalation in her behaviours to get more clout, and how she seemed to be uncaring about her impact on L's career. He put fourth the most depressing theory. He wondered if A may have a bigger plan in place, a plan that coincides with working alongside DM to achieve a shared goal, negating the need for monetary compensation. He said he wouldn't be surprised if A 'caused chaos' during filming, by drawing out information and using this as fodder to boost her celebrity status. He would not be surprised if there were filming 'leaks' and DM profited off said leaks. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. I was shocked by this because I vaguely remembered how DM was writing negative stories post-S1 re. Rege leaving? I remember how the controversy around this brought in a shit ton of traffic to DM. I also vaguely remembered how DM said they were unable to get any more info re. S2 and/or S3 because everyone was tight-lipped. Shonda locked that shit down. Well, what if they've found a perfect infiltrator? Well, that's a scary thought! He kept saying that if the relationship continues, and she doesn't get the clout she's looking for because L isn't as public with her as she wants him to be, she is going to find a way to get what she wants, at the most high impact times (e.g., during filming, or god forbid if she's still around, when s4 is about to Premiere). Expect messiness.

My hubby truly believes that L is emotionally checked out. He's not aware of the mess around him, or if he is, he is constantly reassured and placated by these people that everything will be fine and they have his back. He may feel like something is not quite right, but he may not have the inner fortitude to question the people in his close relationships. I mean these theories are pretty crazy, it would be insane for people to do these things, if they purported to love and respect you.

I suppose the only shining light in all this is that A is a complete narcissist. And the good thing about narcissists is they eventually fail. They become too arrogant and underestimate the intelligence of those around them. They think they know better, are better, and fail to see there are much more powerful forces in this world. Anyway, I hope that none of this comes to fruition and we can reach a state of calm with L&N and Bridgerton. Holy hell, I need a drink.

Regardless of how things are going between L and A, if she is in the picture for any period of time for S4 filming I could see her being a liability.

So I finally finished (re)watching S6 of Winx Club few days ago, and I gotta admit this was exhausting, I felt like I was wasting my time for the most part. From what I heard, S7 is even worse, so this marks the end of my "live" commenting era on IG.

I shared only a few comments about S1, because I didn't think anyone would really be interested in what I had to say. However, when I was finishing S2 and moving to S3, turned out I attracted quite a big audience, and my followers were eagerly waiting for my comments, which was quite a nice surprise. Since then I made a commitment to write longer remarks and pay attention to details, and all of that was fueled by my audience's feedback. Exchanging remarks with my followers was fun and thought-provoking, especially when we talked about complex issues.

I posted almost 400 stories about S3, almost 300 stories about S4, almost 200 stories about S5, same for S6. I also commented on SOTLK (The Secret of the Lost Kingdom) and MA (Magical Adventure), as well as on two seasons of FATE saga.

This kind of "live" commenting was both entertaining and time-consuming. With every season getting worse and worse than the first three which are, according to many, the best, I decided it's time to bring the commenting activity to an end, because S7 is considered the absolute worse from what I know, and S8 style is something I honestly despise. I have no idea if I will watch World of Winx, and the upcoming S9. Right now I feel I just got bored with the way this show is, so I will now focus on posting art from now on.

PLS discuss rick's love w birdperson

we first meet birdperson in the s1 finale. morty's parents go on a trip and rick has to babysit the kids and by that i mean rick and summer throw a fuckass party and rick invites all kind of fookin creatures including birdperson (the crowd goes wild) at said party pers meets summer's best friend tammy and they. hook up and start dating. tragedy. but what also happens is we have our first hashtag emotional plot twist when it's revealed that rick's stupid fucking wubba lubba dub dub I HATE IT catchphrase is actually a normal phrase in pers' language! that very simply means "i am in great pain please help me". i have so many thoughts and prayers about rick choosing to express something so vulnerable in pers' language. (we will later see him choose to be vulnerable to/for pers so that's just a Thing. ig.) he travels the entire universe he could have easily chosen a language No One of the Few People be keeps around understands but he chose pers' language. some might say he trusts pers enough. batshit already.

anyway both the first and iirc second time we see pers morty's mad w rick and pers has his back and defends him and convinces morty to stick around which is. so polite of him. but something i Also wanna mention early on is that pers and rick met sometime in rick's idk young adulthood while he's out there killing other ricks. they meet at some kind of festival and rick's carrying like alien vape in a backpack and pers takes a hit and they pick up squanchy somewhere too (they're the Main Dudes In The Gang) they have a band. briefly. lmao. but also they're rebels fighting The Federation. rick calls it his star wars phase or smth. ok we'll get back to this era later

now. s2 finale. one of the Best Episodes. pers and tammy are getting married!!!!! [cursed emoji] and rick is SO GRUMPY abt it. he doesn't wanna go but they drag him along and once he's at the ceremony he gets so drunk he's like. almost passed out. rick is Always some level of drunk so for him to be like. going limp fnajfnjat it has to be Astronomical levels right. yet he picks himself back up enough to give a little speech proclaiming birdperson as his best friend and that he'll go along w whatever makes him happy so if pers loves tammy then rick loves tammy too!! and calls it his greatest adventure - opening himself up to others! and immediately after tammy reveals she's an undercover agent of the federation and Shoots Birdperson Dead. and rick cries out his name and goes nooooo. horrid

the federation then pieces pers back together w robot bits and sends him off to kill rick, rick knocks him out but doesn't kill him he just takes him home to fix him up as close to Before as he can but pers has sort of. put himself in a coma bc he Did care abt tammy. and not only did she betray him but now rick has also Killed her so he kinda just wants to rot and die. so. this is also one of my fave episodes. rick has to go in pers' mind and memories and convince him to basically come back to life. this is where we get their whole backstory !! as said they met at a festival and fucked around until rick joined the rebellion. it started as pers helping rick w "his stuff" and rick helping pers w "his stuff" in exchange. i'm realizing i'm making it sound like they were taking turns jerking each other off but what i mean is yea rick helps pers w the federation but pers helps rick w killing other ricks. so basially rick joins the rebellion for pers?? 🤨

culminates in blood ridge which is this big ass battle between federation and rebels and it ends WELL. they WIN. but rick talks abt blood ridge like it was a 9/11 type event so you're like WHY is he sad abt blood ridge. and then we see it. at the end of the battle rick is once again emotionally vulnerable w pers and he shares his Big Secret w him. his portal gun that can take him anywhere in any universe. he asks pers to go w him wherever he wants. i'm reminded of rick initially turning down rick prime's offer bc "it sounds lonely" and. i guess it fucking is. he wanted his best friend w him. he reveals a fundamental part of his mindset he always brings up - that there's countless versions of reality and therefore nothing matters, so pers asks him. if nothing matters why did you help me? and rick tells him. because you matter to me. pers reads this as the Fucking Love Confession That It Fucking Is, and Awkwardly Turns Rick Down As Such. fucking friendzones the fucker. he goes "our relationship,,," and rick doesn't deny nor correct him!! he just goes like OH MY GODDDD DON'T DRAG IT OUT JUST SAY NOOOO

anyway. this trip in pers' mind. rick has teamed up w a younger rick from pers' memories and after seeing blood ridge he's like ok i get why you were so bitter. it wasn't the battle that went bad. why do you wanna save pers then? and our rick goes because you love him. and memory rick goes I don't YOU love him maybe. and our rick is like yea bet are you gonna help or not. and he's so serious and focused bc this is SERIOUS. so once they finally do get to pers and rick tries to convince him to come back to life basically lmao pers is like i'm SORRY i'm not over tammy unfort we can't choose the ones we love HE SAYS THAT TO RICK'S FACE??? and in fact rick gets pissy and goes YEAH NO SHIT WHY DO YOU THINK I'M STILL IN HERE. he reveals pers has a fuckin daughter out there and pers decides to come back to take care of her he thanks rick for not giving up on him but quickly fucks off without his usual politeness bc he's a bit mad at rick anyway. fair

when we see him again in s7 he's having a hard time parenting his rebellious birddaughter but agrees to hanging out w rick and their friends and they seem chill. i hope to see him more next season i genuinely adore him so much. the only people rick is THIS weak for are like. morty obviously summer on some level and his fuckin Daughter. Y Birdperson. the only time he admits to someone that they're special is to beth and pers. not even morty gets to hear it ‼️ we also have like them kissing w tongue in the comics once and a faggy little musical number but those are just Barely canon. what Is canon is that rick is queer which is forever really funny to me. and he goes and has a one sided unrequited situationship w some bird dilf like. who's doing it like him. the you need a high iq to understand rick and morty crowd ain't ready for this

Hey MT! Marketing anon again. Sending you a hug through the ask box!! We still need an official confirmation, but May 11th was GOOD for Carylers. I may have cried a little when I heard she was trending on Twitter all day. I’m glad the strategy I mentioned wasn’t too off the mark (phew). It helps make the next few weeks more predictable from a marketing perspective. 

I figured I’d share a few more thoughts so we know what to expect and we're prepared. But still, quick disclaimer: this is just my perspective and speculation. Take it or leave it <3 

AMC is leaning into desires which is good. We should expect a slow trickle of Melissa-related news. Perhaps something more definitive around her birthday (I wouldn’t be surprised if Norman wishes her on IG, I’m sure he’s wanted to say something since she showed up in France lol). Let me take a moment to say I thought we’d get a glimpse of the stand-in or grey hair (can’t remember if I added that in the previous ask), and that's precisely what happened, and I was genuinely excited when I saw that haha. 

The thing to keep in mind now is any good company keeps an eye on/ tracks audience responses to lean into what's getting the most reactions and maximize the impact. Which means audience reactions should guide the flow of news/content we see in the coming week (for the most part). So being vocal about what we want to see may help show AMC what we’re tuning in (aka paying) for.

Mixed reactions is the worst sign. It means the marketing is not hitting the mark, and that's when companies start to shift strategies to get the most reactions or try to increase the audience pool (aka, it more or less explains S11). That doesn't mean you have to feign excitement about things you don't like. But it helps to refocus attention on being vocal about what you're excited to see.

I read an article about AMC losing a ton of subs lately, which may mean they’re more likely to take a route that keeps the audience with them for the long haul. And Caryl going canon would be a good strategy to bring back a huge chunk of the audience they lost in the last quarter. And keep them on for a couple of years at least (if they play their cards right).

So the best thing right now is talking about what we really want to see. Show them how much we love Caryl as a unit. How much we want to see them together. TOGETHER together.

To everyone reading: Your feelings are valid. This doesn't erase what happened last year or how we lost the original Caryl spinoff. However, it also doesn't invalidate that we're getting Caryl back. If we focus on making the most of what's ahead of us, we may see Caryl get the ending they've earned. I, for one, would at least like to try. Caryl on <3

I agree that it’s probably in our best interest to keep showing enthusiasm for Melissa, Carol, and Caryl. I also want to add that I think it’s a good way to continue supporting Melissa as opposed to arguing in circles with each other and making assumptions about her professional or private life that aren’t true.

We don’t have to excuse what happened last year, and we can remind AMC of that by simply not promoting, not watching, and not subscribing for S1. That’s my plan personally. Everyone else can decide what feels right to them.

I can’t write an essay on what I want to see as much as you’re tempting me, anon, but I hope to read what other people are looking forward to and I hope S2 will fulfill Caryl fans’ wildest dreams and Melissa’s as well. She deserves to get what she wants for Carol’s story.

Since everyone is talking about Belos' past anyway with the Hollow Mind portraits, I thought I might as well share my ideas/receipts about how Belos concealed his past when presenting himself as Emperor.

Like he's been a public figure in the Boiling Isles for a long time. So I was wondering how much others knew or suspected about the truth. Here's what I've come up with:

1. There are traces of Philip still around.

S2E4 Gwendolyn tells Luz, “Humans are rare. My great-grandmother told me about a human who once lived here. But one day he just vanished. Rumor has it he left something in the library.” 

S2E5 Luz finds an article in the library that tells her: “Hundreds of years ago, there was a human named Philip Wittebane living in Bonesborough. And he donated his diary to this library.”

The diary is so old that it’s kept in the Forbidden Stacks, only accessible by library staff members. It seems unlikely that many people have read it. But even if they did, there doesn’t seem to be anything really connecting it to Belos. Because:

2. Others think Belos is a witch

S1E18 Willow says, “the Emperor is the most skilled witch that's ever lived.”

S1E19 King says, “a mysterious witch appeared who declared that he, and he alone, could speak to the island.”

S1E19 King also says, "He's the Emperor! He's the most powerful witch alive!"

S1E19 Lilith says, "Being in the Emperor's Coven was my dream. I wanted to work alongside the most powerful witch on the Isles and make the world a better place."

I don't remember anything contradicting this. There are demons on the BI that look pretty similar to witches, and demons (like Hooty) can be immortal ig, so it matters to me that Belos was specifically presenting himself as a witch.

That said, the lifespan of witches is never officially confirmed afaik (and I do hate that thanks). Bump gets that throwaway line about 300 years until retirement or whatever. But since we are shipping witches and humans, they have to have similar lifespans. You cannot convince me otherwise lol.

So that makes it even more implausible that the human that showed up and vanished centuries ago is at all related to Belos, the ~most powerful~ witch on the Boiling Isles.

The fact that the Emperor also has a 16 year old nephew lends further credence to the idea that he's a normal witch, aging normally, with normal (if mysterious) family ties.

3. Belos’ appearance

S1E19 The Unauthorized Boiling Isles History reads, “Before he ascended to the throne, Emperor Belos gained prominence as a crusader for unity during the Savage Ages.”

S2E16 We get to see Belos during this crusade period. He definitely already looks old:

We also know that Belos has been Emperor for ~50 years:

S1E17 a Hexside teacher says, “Over 50 years ago, Emperor Belos appointed a head witch to each coven.” [Bonus fun: this means Terra could be the first head of the plant coven]

S1E18 Kikimora says, “Up until 50 years ago, witches and demons practiced wild magic during what we called the Savage Ages [...] until our great Emperor ascended to the throne, and taught witches how to use magic properly.”

So that's 50 years on top of his age when he was crusading. Hasn’t anybody noticed that Belos is unreasonably old for a witch yet? (And if so, what did they think he was?) 

I think Belos could have handled this discrepancy by carefully planning how he travels around the island and changing his name as he goes; standard secret immortality stuff. This would also serve the double benefit of making it seem like he has a broader base of support from the start, if there’s the appearance of several crusaders going around spreading the ~good word~. 

At some point, though, he did start covering his tracks. By present day (s1), Belos’ Emperor outfit makes his age much more ambiguous:

This is also how he appears in all the official, state-sanctioned portrayals of the Emperor that I remember seeing. Examples:

Which brings me to my main point:

4. History is written by Belos

Lilith is a historian and the former head of the Emperor's Coven. She didn't seem to know any truths about Belos' past. Hunter had access to and was actively reading restricted books about wild magic from the Savage Ages. We get no hint that he came across anything, either.

But they also weren't looking. So let's say you're highly suspicious of Belos and actively digging into his past. How much could you find out about him? We already have the official narrative: Belos ended the Savage Ages and united witchkind 50 years ago. So what about the unofficial narrative?

This brings us back to The Unauthorized Boiling Isles History from S1E19. This is a book owned by Eda, the most infamous wild witch on the Boiling Isles. Here's King's full narration from this scene:  

A mysterious witch appeared who declared that he, and he alone, could speak to the island. He said that we were using magic all wrong. His teachings took hold, his strength grew, and he became... So it sounds like Belos has indeed done a very good job of establishing and maintaining information control. He has erased his past so thoroughly that even an unauthorized history book offers no real rumors or speculation. Both inside the castle and in pockets of dissent, we find no trace of the truth of Belos' past. It is believable to me that even highly-ranked coven officials who are suspicious of Belos and actively looking for information about his past from inside the castle still wouldn't be able to find anything at this point.

With that said: there are probably rumors. There probably are witches who remember Belos from his crusades and grew suspicious. They probably did try to spread the word and warn others.  

At the same time, I’m sure that there are plenty of witches saying plenty of things about Belos. Belos is the most influential and powerful witch on the Boiling Isles, after all. So looking at it from the perspective of someone trying to piece together the truth:

How plausible does it sound that the witch ruling the Boiling Isles is actually a human? How plausible does it sound that he’s actually 400+ years old? How do either or both of those rumors weigh up against all of the other scraps of information and official propaganda and baseless conspiracy theories that you’re also coming across?

How much are either of these rumors worth considering if your primary concern is to, say, try to figure out what’s actually going to happen on the Day of Unity?

So, it’s been a busy weekend. I not only found attendees, I had my first class this Friday. I didn’t get paid for it, but I’m looking at the experience as market research. I learned one very important thing: I need an ice breaker. I can’t just launch into deep personal discussion and expect much. The group I practiced on was already established and had a culture of honesty so it still worked, but with a group of strangers, it certainly would not.

Sunday’s speaker also ended up in the hospital with an inflamed kidney so I jumped in to share. My theme has been spiritual super powers. Last time, I shared about repentance. This time, I talked about forgiveness. Afterwards, I was invited to a leadership meeting. I was very upfront about my status, and it was received with understanding. In the end, it was settled that I would be in charge of the speaking team with more leadership potential depending on how that settles. I think that’s wise for everyone.

On the business side, I’m still not making money which distresses me. Between homeschooling, speaking and writing, I’m already feeling at capacity. I decided to do a one-month experiment by trying path social to boost my IG. It works, but it’s a game. They give you just enough to keep you on the hook and paying. I’m pretty much going to give up on social media altogether after this. It’s not worth the headache and there is no payout. The only thing left for me to try is my own website.

I’m trying to get my business identity set up in the US so I can receive funds without using a platform like gofundme. I want to cut out all the middlemen. My website would combine my pictures with my speaking and writing and offer a channel for people to make small donations on a monthly basis. The problem would be promoting the website. It would be almost impossible to do without a speaking tour.

So, step 1: Get my business registered and open a business account. Step 2: Design my webpage but do not start paying yet. Step 3: Construct speaking content and schedule and secure venues in the US and elsewhere. Step 4: Activate web page. Step 5: Start tour.

Or maybe I’m going about this wrong. Maybe I need to start thinking about strategic connections. I’ve been trying to do things on my own for so long. Who can help me reach my goals without sacrificing my principles? Maybe that’s the question I need to start asking. Enough on this for today. My brain is hurting, and I’m getting irritated with the kids for interrupting my thoughts. Until next time.

I love the concept of a flawed Viktor. He has sorta diluted himself into thinking he will heal the undercity with hextech, but really all the technology he made only really helped harm it (hexgates and weapons) he thought he could help his people from within the system, and really maybe he knew this would never work but went into it anyways, because maybe he never even really prioritized them as much as he thought, he never fit in with them anyways, and now he has to reckon with this false sense of self righteousness he carried with him.

That to me could be intresting but im like the worlds first stupid so idk what im even saying really.

moving on, It seems like now they are trying to make him a jesus like figure for the zaunites, tortured and flawless, which is fine ig, they can still move this a good direction.

there something to be said about how he never cared for Sky and all the sudden he is using her to further torture himself and use that to atone for his percived sins, a sorta self flaguellation. So his care for zaun doesnt come purely from the love he has for it, but out of responsability and mostly guilt. But then it won't even be his fault, like they are just gonna say it was the hexocore I am so surreeee, if they do that I will be so arghhhhhh

SPOILERS⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

Thematically perfect, like actual perfection. Only “problem” was execution in some scenes and it was a bit rushed. They’ll fix that in the anime so it’s all good🙏

My thoughts on ch 139 Eren: now to Eren. We can see in ch 121, Eren says “I’ve always been me, since birth”. In chapter 73 we hear him talk about freedom in a possessive way. In chapter 1 (before his mom got eaten and he got the Attack titan) we can see him obsess over not wanting to live like cattle. The thing with Eren is, he’s always on pursuit for freedom. Yet he’s never satisfied, because it’s never what he imagined. That is because he has a negative view on freedom. So what does this lead to? An obsessive pursuit. When Armin asked Eren why he did it in chapter 139, Eren said “I don’t know”. Now this, is the most miss interpreted line in Aot. The line wasn’t meant to be taken literally. He says “idk” because be doesn’t know, he doesn’t know why he was born with such a need to move forward and find freedom. He doesn’t understand his obsession with it. Read ch 121 and 73 and you’ll notice it. Even if he “doesn’t understand it” it’s still clear as day for him what he wants. That’s what adds a layer to it & makes his choice of path intentionally convoluted for us viewers to understand. The manga never highlighted Eren’s actions as heroic, and Armin didn’t speak on behalf of the world. Eren was declared a devil in the eyes of the world before he ever did anything. Then he proved them to be right. But in the eyes of his friends? He was still Eren. They ALWAYS talked about how wrong it was (except Jean) and Armin didn’t exactly thank him for it. It was more of a brother to brother farewell. Eren and Armin’s relationship was severed at the ocean. They didn’t share the same view on freedom. While Armin sees beauty, Eren sees a threat to freedom. When Armin asked why, he was trying to understand. “Why Eren?” “Why did u want it? Why have u always wanted it?” And it’s simply Eren’s nature to be destructive. Aot is a lot about nature vs nurture and the origin or life. What do i have to support that Eren’s nature is destructive? Well, he carved out his own tragic path in life by sheer will. He was raised with love but ended up thinking differently than Zeke who was raised to think the way Eren does but instead has the mindset that Eren should’ve had. If he were to be normal. Which is where the nature vs nurture argument plays in perfectly. Furthermore, Eren acknowledged his unhinged nature. One that he’s always battled with. He understood that if he weren’t to be stopped, he’d never free Ymir. He’d join his like a slave to his will forever in void. Which is why he trusted the task to Mikasa, stopping it before it was too late. To summarize it, 139 was perfect for Eren’s character and nature. I can’t imagine anything else being fitting? The Aoe stories just make him the average shounen mc who wants revenge. Eren grew past that in ch 91 and later in chapter 123 AND chapter 131. The only thing i want is more Eren pov. I want to know more about what went on though his mind so people (obviously many) who don’t understand his nature, might actually do.

you know, people love to complain about the ending and “wanting more” yet they fail to realize what we even got, lol. People still don’t get why Eren did the rumbling. They still don’t get that he’s always been this way, or how insane he actually turned. Nor to they understand the point of: as long as humans exist=conflict exists. Another thing, the titan curse did NOT come back😭like I’m sad that stupid people consume Aot. Shocker: Ymir did NOT love Fritz. She thinks she did. So it’s not Stockholm syndrome either. People love to analyse hidden messages but apparently when it comes to the ending, the thinking skills just suddenly disappear.

Let me make something very clear, if your reason for hating the ending is because Eren didn’t put his dick in a woman. Log out for me. there’s a reason erehisu fans were a minority. And it’s not because Isayama “portrayed them as—🤓” “drew a sketch of Eren and Historia🥺” “said in a interview🥱” no. By that logic, i can make up the same arguments saying Eren was in love with Reiner. majority ship Eremika or Eremin. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t understand where eh came from since the timelines never even matched? And Eren has always leaned against Mikasa so? But ig that’s why the shippers are a minority. Now, I’m not against any legal ship, (or if you do ship them) but if you’re mad Eren didn’t cream pie then your comprehension skills and miss-directed expectation of the series is beyond embarrassing. There’s a reason every EM knew how the story would end even before the last chapters and we were right🤷‍♀️

Isayama was 19 when he started, I’m 20 and i can’t imagine. The story us perfect and I’m sad people who use the term “chad” even get to have an opinion on it. At the end of the day, if they want “chad”. Eren did kill his mom and dad. Basically his whole family. He did face death without a blink of the eye. But he had a heart to heart with his best friend after they ignored his state for the past 4 years, he relived every horrific memory ever and omg 😱 “Eren is ruined” no. I love him more to feel broken about him finally letting himself be vulnerable. After all, Isayama did say

I’m only making these assumptions in order to alleviate the text.

The francetv slash YouTube channel releases an unexpected teaser video for an equally unexpected seventh season Skam France. The video features Tiffany, a white, cis female teenager, going into labour from denial pregnancy just after winning what appears to be a gymnastics championship. Overall, the video and its release are very dramatic.

The character of Tiffany, also called Tiff, was previously seen on season 6 of Skam France as a bully who persecuted the main character, Lola, both at school and on social media. Outside of this characterization, nothing is known about her. It is majorly accepted that Tiff is not a liked character; she rather poses as one of the antagonists of Lola’s arc.

Now you know the details of what happened, in the most objectively possible way. 

Now I’ll speak for myself.

Before I went digging around for people’s reaction, here is what I initially thought of this video.

1) Shock: I thought Skam France was over, so... Big, big shock.

2) Excitement: I hold this web series very close to my heart. It has gotten me through depressive episodes, anxiety attacks, coming out to my best friend. To see this new development? It couldn’t bring me more joy.

3) Curiosity: I recognized Tiff immediately. I was intrigued as to what would happen to her to set off a new season in true Skam Fr fashion. As soon as she started gripping her stomach, I knew she was pregnant and wasn’t aware of it. Big, big surprise here again.

4) Numbness/Overthinking: As I stared at my screen, motionless, my mind went off. What did it mean? How did she not know? Who is the father? Do we know him? Will the baby survive? Where are the other characters? Will Lamifex be present? What? How? When? Why? Who?

5) Disappointment: No, I did not like Tiff one bit in S6. Yes, I sincerely wished for a season on either Jo (ambiguous and funny teenage girl, cis + white), Sekou (seemingly neurodivergent teenage boy, cis + black), and my favorite, Max (mysterious and grave teenage boy, trans + white) So why Tiff? It felt to me like a missed opportunity, but I did not lose hope.

So, these were the five stages of my emotional process. And then I made the terrible mistake to go look for the fans’ reaction. I didn’t even look at the YT comments, I didn’t go on Instagram, I went directly here on Tumblr. Why? I’m still asking myself that. From S1 to S6 of Skam Fr, I kept my love for the show to myself and only looked at ig and video edits. I tried once, and only once, to look it up on Tumblr, and was greeted by fervent agressivity, disrespect and hate. Why did I ever forget that after watching the S7 teaser? I still don’t know.

The reactions on this platform were wild. People are furious (I get that). People are disappointed (I get that). People are anxious (I get that). People are also verbally agressive, insensitive, hateful, disrespectful and bullies. I don’t get that.

Comments along the lines of “What she gonna do with a fucking baby?”, “Are we gonna watch the baby do nothing all fucking season?”, “Wowwww, teenage pregnancy, so new and relatable!” (note the sarcasm made in the comment here), “Who gives a shit about Tiff?”, etc. 

And then all the mistakes Skam Fr ever made flooded back onto the feed. The wlw misrepresentation, the whitewashing, the overdramatization, the dubious sex scenes between minors, all of it.

Let’s take a break here. Do I condone these mistakes? Nope. Am I a white-bully apologist? Nope. Did I forget every horrible action Tiff has made in the past? Nope. She manipulated a whole school against Lola, she profited from Lola’s mother’s death, she bullied her, harrassed her, pushed her deeper into mental distress. Tiff was a despicable character that I never once liked. The way she was played by the actress made it clear that Tiff was not intended to be a good guy. If I could replace her as the main of S7, I would, in a heartbeat. I’d choose, as I said, Jo, Sekou or Max.

Skam France deeply lacks diversity and made mistakes when attempting to diverse the issues represented. This is not an opinion, it’s a fact. 

Poc representation is very, very low. Only one season has a woc of Islam beliefs as mc (Imane, S4) with poc entourage/family. Only 2 other characters not related to Imane were poc (Sekou and Sarah, S1-S2). These 2 characters were very in the background and served to further the mc’s plotline, they had no real content. (I am not a poc, and so my opinion does not matter here. If you are not poc, your “opinions” don’t matter here, this point is not for you to debate. These are facts.)

While I do not particularly find the wlw representation bad, I do understand how it hurts/bothers other queer women. From my perspective, the bar was very low regarding my expectations of the Lola/Maya pair (none of them died *yay* they had a happy ending *yay* they were not typically overfeminized or overmasculinized *yay* Lola  and Maya were respectful of each other, understood each other, accepted each other with all their flaws and their beauty *yay* I truly believed in their love and it gave me confidence and hope *yay* I ould really go on but this is not my main point so I’ll stop here) Regardless of my opinion on Mayla, I understand that to some queer women, it was bothering/hurtful. (If you are anything other than a woman / wlw, this point is not for you to debate. Keep your “opinions” to yourself, it does not matter here. These are facts.)

Like every remake of the original Skam where the S4 was given to Sana/Imane, the Muslim community was not represented at its best, at its most beautiful and respectfully. The character of Imane, although she is my favorite girl of the series, was not portrayed in a way that respected the majority of the Muslim community. (If you are anything other than Muslim, this point is not for you to debate. Our opinions do not matter here. These are facts.)

And so the same goes for the portrayal of sexual assault and child pronography in S2, of mental illness and homophobia in S3, of disabilities in S5, of addiction, transphobia, self-harm and neurodivergence in S6. Again, if you are not part of these communities, your opinions do not matter on these issues. These are facts that are not up for debate.

In other words, Skam France, as well as the original Skam, Skam Wtfock, Skam España, and probably all the others I haven’t watched in their entirety, are NOT perfect shows. They (maybe) tried their best to portray issues of the younger generations that are ugly, shameful, taboo, hard-to-swallow-pills. Of course they made mistakes. Of course they have to be held accountable. Of course they can and should do better. Of course it must be spoken about.

Here is my problem.

The so-called “fans” shamelessly SHITTING on the WHOLE show because of ONE TEASER TRAILER. (btw, this is where I get angry)

I am not talking about the fans making fun of the show and this season’s premise like “Better MCs than Tiff for S7: a romance between the car that almost hit Lucas S3 and the car that hit Arthur S5, or the school’s nurse, or Imane’s dad, or Elu’s rabbit” (that shit’s funny and I’d watch all of these).Or the joke about Wtfock and Skam Fr shaking hands while signing the same contract to disappoint the fans with white MCs (it’s funny cuz it’s trueeeee).

I am not talking about the fans criticizing the producers’ choice of Tiff as MC. There is a difference between shitting on issues and adressing/discussing them. I WANT to talk about how this season’s issue would have been so much better if a woc, specifically a black woman, had been the MC, because black women and doctors are a whole different level of issue than white women and doctors. Add on top of that an unplanned teenage pregnancy? It would have been IMMACULATE. I WANT to talk which wlw couple was better represented, Mayla or Croana/Crisana, and why is that. I WANT to talk about disabilities in black and poc communities. I WANT to talk about headcanons, AUs, to rectify the missed marks. I WANT to talk about our takes on seasons about Max, Sekou and Jo, instead of Tiff’s.

I DO NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT YOUR SHITTY, NEGATIVE, UNHELPFUL, HURTFUL COMMENTS.

Just because the protagonist is white, doesn’t give you ANY right to dismiss the issue that is unplanned teenage pregnancy. This is a problem that affects countries WORLDWIDE. Do you know how many deaths are related to minors giving birth? Do you know how many babies die at birth from these pregnancies? Do you have any idea the trauma it puts you through, to go into labor without even knowing you were pregnant in the first place, and then giving birth, and then having to care for a defensless human being? The dilemma of keeping it, or giving it away? The fear that lives in every person able to give birth, that one day they’ll become pregnant, because society turns sych a shameful look to that? No matter your ethnicity, your gender identity, your sexuality, your political stance or whatever shit you bring up to justify your disgraceful and downright degrading comments, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY THAT A MINOR GIVING BIRTH IS NOT AN ISSUE. 

You think the topic has been covered plenty before? Yeah, because shows like “16 and pregnant” and “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant!” are such good examples and show the reality with such an objective point of view! 

Bullshit. Teenage pregnancy is still a taboo, it still kills, and people are still morons about it. 

“Well I guess everybody is secretly pregnant now!” No, Jessica, but you wouldn’t know about it, would you? Because I wouldn’t tell you shit if you were my “friend” and I was going through it. The whole message of all the Skams is not that it presents super relatable issues of teenagers, although it is a big topic of the show. They present some issues that affect the youth in an authentic light, but that’s not it.

So don’t you dare tell me that Tiff deserves this, that her baby deserves to die, that teenage motherhood is irrelevant. Y'all: I have THOUGHTS.

Where Wednesday and Tyler will meet again for the first time post s1? And what they will say to each other?

I think it will be one of two ways:

1) he's on the run from Willowhill after breaking out the van in the last episode. Wednesday tracks him into the woods/surrounding area, finds him, and they become begrudging allies. Be pretty funny if when she found him, she surprised TF out of him and they rehash the whole "Do you make a habit of scaring the hell out of people?" "It's more of a hobby" line.

2) He doesn't escape Willowhill AKA they capture him or subdue him after he tries to break out. And then Wednesday gets called in to Willowhill because "He says he'll only talk to you." This would play nicely into Hunter's desire to see him completely unhinged while also giving them a reason to talk. My favorite fanfic that explores this is turn my heaven into hell (i'm under your spell)... so damn good.

I also think the theory that Wednesday is his new master is pretty on point. Would be interesting forced proximity plot line, give her a pretty powerful ally in the fight against an (probably) nefarious stalker, and I think give us a direct line to look further in the whole thing they teased at the end that Laurel was just a small part in a larger more evil plan.

Where and how/why they will kiss again?

I'm pretty this ain't happening for A WHILE. My dream for s2 is that they do the whole "we're on a mission/adventure together" and get shoved into a tight space where they're all pressed together and there's ~*tension*~ that something might happen or we know they're at least THINKING about it, but it doesn't actually happen.

But, in my dreams, I've had this plot line where the house that Jenna shared on IG where she mentioned it would be "Her and Hunter's Place" would be the rendezvous point for Wednesday and Tyler, now begrudging allies, and its where they make their plans to stop whatever nefarious villain is up for S2. And they keep meeting there until they figure out how to untether Tyler from Wednesday as master, so now he has full control of the Hyde. But, of course, during the entire season, we've got tension but nothing concrete between the two of them. They might even discuss like "how much was real between the two of us?" but there's still a lot of ???? in the air between the two of them. Wednesday goes back one last time to the house to kind of "close up shop" at the house, thinking Tyler won't be there because he has no Hyde/Master responsibility to her. But he's there. And she halts upon entering the house and is like "Why are you here?" And he's like "You know exactly why I'm here" and then he just walks over to her, bends her backward and they kiss and then FADE TO BLACK END OF SEASON. It's really all I want, why can't the writers just give it to me???

Admittedly it’s been awhile since I watched Skam or looked through their instagram posts, but in my memory it always felt like the instas were just used to give another glimpse into the characters, never anything really flashy, and the way each character used their accounts always felt really true to who they were. But I think the remakes use it way more as an extension of the storylines and it feels less realistic? (For lack of a better word) Like a lot of posts just feel like pure

staged fan service (see: Wtf, Skamfr) or they go a little overboard with content (see: Druck) that goes beyond what I’d actually envision the characters “sharing”. I don’t know if that makes sense? And I could be idealizing how Skam used it too, since like I said it’s been awhile since I looked at the og stuff. But yeah, I feel like the remakes have turned the social media aspect of the shows into a bit of a cringefest. 😳 What do you think?

Hi anon 📳 Sorry for the delay, I think this is a very interesting ask, and I wanted to think about it a bit before answering.  

I’ll leave aside the question of realism, which you noted yourself you used for lack of a better word. I think at this point the discussion about the way Skam approaches “realism” is more nuanced than how it was used when there wass only one Skam.   

I guess I would say that Skam used the instagram accounts mainly in two ways: 1) so the characters could all show how they wanted other people to see them, and 2) as the cherry on top to a character arc, when the character would post something more vulnerable on his/her ig account. 

I think in general the remake teams didn’t fully get the point of the ig accounts because these teams weren’t really fans who followed Skam as it dropped. They came to the ig accounts as a finished product. 

Skam France posted a veritable torrent of content for s1 and s2, and I think some of it was really good. I really liked Yann’s ig account, for instance. I thought his posts really leaned on Jonas’ political side, which not all remake Jonases did. I also liked that the girl squad would hang out at random places (like a Sephora and a park iirc) without Manon, in s2, to show how Manon was growing distant from the squad because of her relationship with Charles. 

But one thing that started with Skam France was creating ig content for every clip. So that when a clip dropped, a bunch of pics and stories from every character involved in the scene would also drop. I think this is just not really necessary? Most high school students don’t document every school day like this, or even document every time they go to the movies, meet up to discuss fundraising ideas, go buy some snacks at a convenience store, and so on and so forth. 

On the other hand, we also have to allow for the idea that technology marches on. When Skam was airing, ig stories were still pretty new. Most people posted memes and random shit to their instagram feed, rather than to their stories. Nowadays feeds are more curated, and stories are for shitposting. So one aspect of how Skam used igs, which was to post content that would clearly define a character (such as Paradise Hotel memes for Eva, cheesy inspirational quotes for Vilde, or news clips for Sana) would probably all just go on stories nowadays. Compare the Skam igs with the Skam Austin igs in s1 (or, like, your memory of the Austin igs, since FB deleted them............), which were also created by Julie Andem and Mari Magnus, and we can already see some changes in the way teens used instagram (even allowing for cultural differences between Norway and the US). The pics would look “better” as in more professional, better lit, better angles used. Whereas the Skam characters seemingly would take a pic and then posted it, it was as if the Austin characters had taken a bunch of pics and posted only the really good ones. I also don’t remember the Austin characters posting memes either to their feed or even to their stories. 

When it comes to Druck... I absolutely agree that I don’t really buy high school students would post that much content and so personal, and it also loses the effect when there’s so much content posted. For instance, Nora’s Nov 13 post is the first time Zoe appears in Nora’s ig feed, which was a momentous occasion because Zoe confessed to her sister that she felt judged by Nora. But Nora had previously posted so much Zoe content on her stories, that the milestone of posting Zoe to her feed went unnoticed.

But then on the other hand, Druck has a limited episode runtime (where Skam didn’t) and viewers have consistently responded favorably to the Skams developing storylines on social media away from the main. People ate it up when Isak posted pics of his life with Even in s4. And I don’t necessarily dislike the concept of giving more meaning to certain lines or moments by adding context over social media. E.g.: without social media, we would have little to no idea what Finn and Zoe argued about towards the end of the season. Thanks to the chats we do, and thanks to the ig content, we’re actually invested in Finn and Zoe working out, because we’ve seen them act coupley in so much content. What about Kiki and Carlos’ apartment? Would we care that much about it if there hadn’t been so much content of the gen 1 characters “renovating” it? 

Since we’re talking about different remakes, I admit I’ve never been a huge fan of how much content the Skam España characters posted. Much like with Skam France, I feel like sometimes they just shot content to go with the clip, pretty much to promote the clip in a way, and when I look at their feeds now, I just feel there are so many generic posts that are super cute, yes, but don’t really tell me anything about the characters or what they were going through at the time or what they wanted people to think their lives were like at the time. To be clear, a lot of their posts do tell me stuff about the characters and what they were going through and what they wanted people to think their lives were like. But many of those posts could be gone and I wouldn’t miss them. For me, it’s the difference between having Mari Magnus, who for so long was Julie Andem’s right hand woman and assisted in every step of creating Skam, come up with and post the ig content, and hiring someone like Gominuke, a well-known influencer, who knows how to use ig to promote a product. While we’re talking about the way a social media manager’s background and personality will affect the sm content for the Skam, Druck hired Farid-Philippe Bouatra starting with s2, and he was really good at coming up with reasons why introverted characters such as Matteo would post consistently (#MatteoMonday and #FlorenziFriday). 

Anyway. Obviously Skam France hiring professional photographers for their sm content and posting these photoshoots to the characters’ accounts is cringy as all fuck, and no one beats Wtfock at generic, bland posts that don’t say anything about who a character is, what they’re going through or what they want people to think their lives are like. There was a time where I was slightly salty about Wtfock characters posting more memes and shitposts than the Skam España characters, but that all went away after oh, the 20th generic food post coming out of Antwerp. People come at Nora Grace for her feminist posts, but do we want to talk about Zoë’s abundance of shallow “girl power!” (I will not call those posts feminist) pics? Or what about literally monetizing the social media by having Kato post a legit ad for makeup?

There's lots of back and forth on who Victor should be with, but all s1 and s2 showed me is that Victor isn't cut out to be anyone's partner at this point in his life. He did Mia dirty and couldn't even properly apologize for it in s2 and the Victor who actually prioritized Benji's happiness and tried to take all responsibility for their kiss with Derek so they can keep dating disappeared in s2. He couldn't even articulate that breaking Benji's trust was wrong with spilling his secret to Rahim, let alone understand him at any point during the season. I don't know if it's supposed to be an international character flaw to be worked on or if the writers think having everything from Victor's POV is a good excuse, but it bothers me a lot. I really thought Malex was the height of showrunner bias and uneven writing, but Venji is so much worse. Alex at least always had a POV and a well-defined personality I could easily empathize with. You can't pile a ton of trauma on a character and never explore it, especially if it's supposed to be half of your main ship. I don't know how reflective a Twitter poll is of the audience split (the one they did on Instagram was much more overwhelmingly in favour of Venji, but they also don't show how many people voted), but it's not surprising that a dynamic that was basically written to be pretty much perfect so far and a fun alternative for the main ship's drama is appealing to so many people. They could have easily sold Venji better this season as a couple. They can lay a better foundation for future romantic them if they spend real time together platonically in s3 and stop putting each other on pedestals. They can also ruin what's appealing about Vahim with drama in s3. It's anyone's guess how s3 is going to play out. All I know is if Venji is still the endgame, I don't want a redo of s1 with Victor trying to work harder at a relationship he ultimately doesn't want to be in than he ever tried to make it work with the guy he's supposedly in love with. That's a recipe for disaster. A lot of shows are guilty of never showing us an endgame ship actually working on screen before putting them back together at the end of the show. I really want better here.

A lot to unpack

Victor did apologize to Mia, said he loves her and never meant to hurt her. It’s a bit complicated because Victor never went into the relationship with bad intentions and it took him the majority of the season to come to terms with his sexuality. Yes, he should’ve ended it right away when he figured it out, and he shouldn’t have kissed Benji when he was still with her. But still, there is a fine line here because there’s only so much of an apology Victor can give without it feeling like he’s apologizing for who he is, for being gay, and that’s not something he needs to feel sorry for. I think we should also keep in mind that Mia had her little thing with Andrew at the same time and never told Victor about it. She didn’t cheat or anything (or when he kissed her she stopped it) but she had obvious feelings for Andrew that she hadn’t dealt with. Luckily they finally got resolved in s2 but they were definitely there when she was still with Victor.

Now, what is it with this Victor slander in my house? He and Benji were pretty much constantly arguing or making up, but I’ve rarely seen people apologize to someone else as many times as Victor did to Benji about things that weren’t even his fault. He spent all season apologizing for his mother, even though he has no control over what she thinks or does, but also assured Benji that she is trying and that she is getting better. And he would know that better than Benji because he knows his mother and Benji does not. Or apologizing for not being ready to come out to everyone. And then turned around and did it anyway, which was what he wanted to do, but it also felt a lot about Benji and something he was doing for him as well. Which, fine, it’s Victor’s decision and he didn’t regret doing it. But then when there were consequences that hurt him by his team being homophobic, Benji first shrugs them off and then encourages Victor to quit the team so that he’s not around homophobic people. Which okay, first of all homophobes exist everywhere but I digress. Victor was miserable after he quit the basketball team. It’s not actually what he wanted to do, and he loves basketball, and Benji had no respect for that either. He acted like basketball with some kind of leftover heteroness that needed to be expelled from Victor. And he talked shit about it with his friends right in front of Victor. In fact, every time Victor tried to express himself, he would be essentially shut down by Benji and end up apologizing. Until episode 6 with the birthday and episode 8 after Isabel caught them together.

So look, I don’t think Benji had to tell Victor anything about his alcoholism because it’s his personal business and it’s really difficult to talk about something like that and it was definitely up to him when he wanted to open up. But then he turned around and was basically pissed at Victor for knowing even though Victor found out by accident. And then he refused to talk about it. And then when Victor expressed his hurt that Benji didn’t want to talk to him, Benji responded by completely attacking Victor and straight up saying it was exhausting work being with him bc he’s got a religious homophobic mom and is newly gay. Like….what?? 

Benji judged Victor for 1) being a jock 2) his mother and 3) being a baby gay. Victor never once judged Benji for his alcohol problems, he was just hurt Benji didn’t share with him. He didn’t judge Benji for anything else for that matter. He definitely shouldn’t have told Rahim about Benji, even though I do understand he needed someone to open up to and he trusts Rahim, it was a violation of Benji’s trust and not okay. But that’s like…the only bad thing Victor has done all season.

As for the pov thing- it wouldn’t be such a big deal if they actually developed Benji as a character, which they have not. We get no moments of him where he’s not with Victor (except the one conversation with Isabel, which was about Victor). If you’re going to have a character not share about their life to the protagonist, you need to find another way to share it with the audience. It leads to a disconnect and lack of emotional investment in Benji for many people. The fact that I feel I know Rahim better after 5 episodes than I do Benji after 20 is saying something. But the writing has given Rahim development that it hasn’t given Benji. It’s not surprising a lot of people in the audience are feeling more connected to Rahim as a result. Polls are never the most reliable thing since it depends on who sees them and how many people (twitters was about 20k respondents iirc but no idea about ig). I see a lot of vahim shipping on twitter and ig, tumblr not so much. But I will say I’ve seen people coming around on vahim who are watching the season now, as opposed to the smaller number who immediately watched the moment it came out, went in shipping Victor and Benji and had a knee jerk reaction about the possibility of another romance for Victor.

This is not comparable to malex in any way so I have no clue why you’re bringing them up.

And personally, I was never invested in Victor and Benji’s relationship. Even in s1 I was like 🤷🏻‍♀️ And now, with or without vahim, I think Victor and Benji should break up. They’re just not a great couple and I feel like the show would do well to make it okay for your first relationship to not necessarily be right for you. Especially for a gay couple because that like…NEVER happens on tv. It doesn’t take anything away from what v*nji mean to each other. Sometimes people just aren’t compatible. I didn’t start shipping vahim bc of anything with v*nji directly, I just loved their dynamic. I love seeing Victor light up. I love seeing him comfortable instead of constantly feeling insecure and apologetic. To me, vahim connect in a way v*nji do not.

Victor did not develop feelings for Rahim just because he was having issues with Benji. Just like Benji did not develop feelings for Victor just because he was having issues with Derek. Implying that does a disservice to both relationships and kinda takes agency away from a character and their feelings. But I want him and Benji to end things for real before anything happens with Rahim. Which might mean trying to make it work for a while longer. 

We will see!!
