Today's bird is this gentoo penguin chick who is just done with life
Photo taken last summer at the Edinburgh Zoo, who also hosts a livestream of their penguin habitat year round. They're all set up with their nests for this mating season, in a couple of weeks they should have eggs showing up, and little penguin babies in early summer!

something that is like the baseline of amys entire character to me is that shes lonely. shes clingy and physically affectionate in a way none of her friends really are, shes always getting pushed aside and left behind. yeah, she helps out people she doesnt know because shes a nice person, but also, she sees part of herself in them. she wont leave someone else behind because she knows the feeling —and more importantly, hates the feeling. if she doesnt have somebody to stand by her and be there for her, then shes going to be that person for everybody else. something something her obsession with sonic is really just like a manifestation of that desire for closeness with someone, and she thinks that romance is the only way to get that. idk... this hedgehog can have so many abandonment issues.

From a very young age, Kaeya held such a fondness for handholding. Whether it was his father clinging tightly to him to make sure he didn’t get lost, Adelinde’s gentle, grounding hand closed over his to comfort him whenever his nerves got the better of him, Crepus’s rough-palmed, firm yet comforting grip as he brought him back home, or, as it was most often of all, Diluc’s warm, yet at times uncomfortably tight hold as he dragged him anywhere, everywhere, determined to always keep Kaeya close and eagerly show him all there was to see, Kaeya treasured the gesture greatly.
Of course, being as shy as he was, initiating it himself was always the harder part. So much so, he would tend to hold pinkies, rather than outright take a person’s hand in his own. Eventually, it would become his most common way to go about the gesture of affection.

Tw: mentions of ed
The main audience for fan fiction is the author first and foremost. Write what you want to write because at the end of the day, someone will always have problems with it. It could be the purest thing on earth and someone will go "oH bUt I cAnT ReLaTe-" or "tHaTs OuT oF cHaRaCtEr"
It's fiction. With fictional characters. Not everyone will be able to relate. Not everyone wants to relate. Relating to something is perfectly fine and makes the experience even better (depending on some aspects - going extreme here, but it's not healthy to relate to a scene where a character enjoys hurting ppl or animals out of cruelty and for enjoyment ex. bullying someone irl)
But just because you don't relate to it doesn't mean others can't enjoy it. Also why did you have to bring ED into this lmao? There are different types not just ppl who starve themselves, so idk why you're brining this up anon. Idk how that makes your statement true? It's fine to be upset that your fav author doesn't write for a certain thing anymore but that doesn't give you the right to bash them for it.
And don't generalize everyone in that echo chamber of yours (when you called every ED victim fat phobic) - I just know you're in a community that thinks just like that. It's good to see outside of that chamber anon otherwise you're always going to be narrow minded. Saying as someone who used to think just like that <3
As I said earlier, the audience for fan fiction is the author first and foremost. If you have a problem, block, unfollow, simple as that.
It's up to you to post this or not, but just wanna say you should continue to write what you want to and take care of yourself ❤
posting it because It’s important 2 mi and I want everyone to see 💗💗💗 thank u so much u have no idea how insanely thoughtful this is

When i think about the messed up ways people treat sharing art online i always end up thinking about thank yous. Like when a youtuber takes the time to thank their audience, not for financial support or even for sharing the video with friends but just "my last video got more views than any previous, thank you guys so much" and so on like...
I KNOW it's so minor and most of the time it probably comes down to courtesy and ingrained social ritual but in the context of the insanely toxic mindset yt and other content sharing platforms encourage in their creatives... The idea that watching your video is a FAVOUR or service that I'm doing you out of kindness rather than something i watched for the selfish purpose of enjoying it..... It doesn't sit well with me....
And i do realise that especially on a small scale communities are way more pleasant to be in if there is a level of "I'll give this person's work the time of the day because i want them to feel good" type mentality. But content sharing platforms usually encourage chasing interaction for its own sake and once you get into that mindset if you're thinking about it in terms of "more interaction = people being nice to me / less interaction= people being mean to me" you're just gonna have such a bad time. And really it morphs into a kind of entitlement where artists feel wronged if a piece of theirs doesn't "do well".
Idk i guess i recognise the value of ppl taking a bit of responsibility for the happiness of others in their community or even that of total strangers but still i just hate it when things that are supposed to be done for your own fun are turned into things you do for other people to make them feel better. The flipside of this btw (as in another thing which is super minor and probably has more to do with preexisting rules of courtesy than anything specific about social media but which is still indicative of an unhealthy way to view making and sharing and consuming art) is when artists feel the need to apologise for not sharing enough content for whatever reason. As if they're obligated to do so for their audience's sake

Happy Make A Terrible Comic Day 2024!!! I hope you enjoy participating in this annual tradition which we’ve all done for ages!!! You must participate so you might as well enjoy it!!!
If you make a comic (again, it’s mandatory) and you want to share it, post it on the tag #makeaterriblecomicday2024! Or don’t, I’m not a fucking cop.
Remember, the goal is to make something terrible! So if you can’t draw or have never made a comic, or if it’s just been ages since you made something just for fun — that’s perfect! You’re all set! If you fuck up and make something that’s NOT terrible… well, some might say there’s a joy to that too.
Ok stop reading this and go make something!!!
