summary: well yeah

Y/N was undefeated.

Not in the literal sense, obviously—she had lost things before (not often, but it had happened). But when it came to control, to composure, to making sure she was always the one dictating the energy of a room—Y/N was untouchable.

Until last night.

Until Oscar—in his sleep, like some kind of subconscious ninja—had clocked her straight in the face.

She shouldn't be this upset about it. She knew that.

But when she woke up this morning, looked in the mirror, and saw the dark purple bruise swelling up on her cheekbone, she had just... froze.

She didn't look like her.

And that was enough to send her right back under the covers of Oscar's bed, arms crossed, hiding from the world for the first time in her entire life.

She hadn't left since.

Downstairs, Nicole glanced around the breakfast table before frowning.

"Where's Y/N?"

Lily, casually buttering her toast, answered without thinking. "Oh, Oscar punched her in the face last night."

There was a beat of absolute silence.

Oscar, who had been mid-sip of his coffee, choked. "IN MY SLEEP!"

Nicole's eyes snapped to him so fast he was worried he'd developed whiplash. "You did what?"

"Oh my God," Oscar groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "I accidentally hit her while I was asleep, mum. Please don't make this sound like domestic abuse."

"That's still bad, Oscar," Nicole deadpanned. "She's hiding in your room. You should probably go check on her."

"I tried!" Oscar defended. "She told me to leave her alone!"

Lily, finishing off her toast, stood up. "Then maybe we try again."

Oscar let out a deep sigh before pushing himself up from the table, following Lily up the stairs. "She's being dramatic, right?"

Lily glanced at him. "Oh, absolutely. But that doesn't mean she's not actually upset."

When they reached Oscar's room, the door was closed.

Lily knocked. "Y/N?"

Nothing.

Oscar sighed, reaching for the handle. "I'm coming in."

"If you must," came Y/N's grumpy voice from under the covers.

When they walked in, Y/N was buried under the blankets, only her messy hair sticking out from the top.

"Oh, for God's sake," Lily muttered, marching over and yanking the blanket down. "You're not dying, Y/N."

Oscar's heart sank a little when he saw the bruise fully—a deep, ugly purple swelling across her cheekbone. "Shit."

Y/N sighed dramatically, rolling onto her side. "Yeah. Shit."

Oscar sat at the edge of the bed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Y/N, I genuinely didn't mean to—"

"I know you didn't," she mumbled. "I just—" She stopped, frowning. "Ugh, I don't know."

Lily sat next to her. "You do know. You just don't wanna say it."

Y/N huffed, fiddling with the edge of the blanket. "It's stupid."

"You're literally never stupid," Oscar said. "So tell us anyway."

Y/N sighed again, eyes flicking up toward the ceiling. "It's just... I don't feel like me right now. I look in the mirror, and I see some idiot who got decked by her boyfriend, and I hate it. It's not even a cool injury. It's just—this."

She gestured vaguely at her face, frustrated.

Oscar's chest tightened. "Y/N..."

"Before you say anything," she cut in, "yes, I know it's ridiculous. But I don't care. It's how I feel."

Lily and Oscar shared a glance.

Then Lily, without a word, leaned down and kissed the bruise.

Y/N blinked. "What was that?"

"A reminder," Lily said simply. "That you're still you."

Oscar hesitated before doing the same, pressing a kiss right next to where Lily had. "And that you're still the most beautiful person on the planet, even if I accidentally assaulted you in my sleep."

That pulled a tiny smile from her, despite herself. "You are never living that down."

"I figured."

Y/N exhaled, rubbing her eyes. "I still feel weird."

"That's okay," Lily said. "You don't have to pretend like

you don't."

Oscar nodded. "But if you wanna get back at me, I would let you punch me back."

y/n finally sat up, crossing her arms. "Oooooh, that is tempting."

Lily smirked. "You should take him up on that."

"Wait—" Oscar started, but y/n was already moving, shoving him hard so he fell off the bed with a loud THUMP.

Oscar groaned. "I deserved that, didn't I?"

"Oh, 100%."

y/n laughed, and just like that, the weight in the room lifted.

She still didn't like how she felt.

Oscar groaned from his spot on the floor, rubbing the back of his head where it definitely made a concerning amount of impact with the hardwood. "I really don't know why I expected any other reaction from you."

y/n, now sitting up with her arms crossed, shrugged. "You offered."

"I meant a punch, not a full-body slam," Oscar muttered, finally pushing himself up and sitting back on the bed, still rubbing his head. "I think you gave me a concussion."

"Good," y/n huffed. "Now we match."

Lily snorted. "That's so romantic of you."

Oscar rolled his eyes before glancing at y/n, who was trying to keep up her grumpy act but failing miserably. There was still a tiny hint of insecurity in her expression, but at least she wasn't hiding under the covers anymore.

"You do realize," Oscar said slowly, "that if anyone outside this room hears about this, I am going to be publicly executed for 'punching' my girlfriend, right?"

y/n smirked, regaining some of her usual confidence. "What's stopping me from telling everyone, then?"

"Oh, you are evil."

"And?"

"And I'm gonna expose every embarrassing thing you've ever done if you do."

y/n narrowed her eyes. "You wouldn't."

"Try me," Oscar challenged.

Lily leaned in, intrigued. "Do I get to hear these stories?"

"Only if she sells me out," Oscar said, gesturing to y/n, who looked genuinely torn.

y/n clicked her tongue before sighing. "Fine. I'll be nice."

"Wow," Lily said, crossing her arms. "Look at you, being mature for once."

"Let's not get carried away," y/n muttered, but the tension in her shoulders had finally loosened a little.

Lily gave her a knowing look. "You do realize you're still beautiful, right?"

y/n hesitated, fingers fidgeting with the edge of the blanket. "I know." She exhaled. "I just don't feel it."

"That's okay," Lily said, nudging her lightly. "We'll remind you until you do."

Oscar nodded. "Even if that means risking my life in my sleep again."

y/n snorted. "Yeah, you better be careful. Next time, I will actually hit back."

"Duly noted," Oscar said dryly.

"I might even film it," Lily added.

"You two are gonna be the death of me," Oscar sighed.

But when he looked over and saw y/n finally smiling—really smiling—he figured that if it was for them, it'd be worth it.

y/n, Lily, and Oscar made their way downstairs, Oscar trailing slightly behind, probably because he was still fearing for his life. As they stepped into the kitchen, Nicole turned around from the stove, immediately narrowing her eyes at her son.

"Oh, look who finally decided to show his face," Nicole said, arms crossing.

Oscar groaned. "Mum—"

"No, no," Nicole interrupted, shaking her head dramatically. "You're lucky I'm not calling the authorities right now. Hitting your girlfriend? In your sleep?" She gave him a deeply disappointed look. "You were raised better than this, Oscar."

"Oh my God," Oscar muttered under his breath. "Why does everyone act like I deliberately punched her?"

"Because it's fun," y/n said, hopping onto the counter like she owned the place.

Chris walked in, looking between them with a confused expression. "What's happening now?"

"Oscar punched y/n in his sleep," Nicole informed him, stirring something on the stove like she wasn't casually throwing out defamatory accusations.

Chris blinked. "...Should I be concerned?"

"YES," Hattie said as she walked in, having apparently heard enough from the other room. "She literally has a bruise on her face, Dad."

Oscar dragged a hand down his face. "I didn't mean to! How many times do I have to say it?"

Nicole sighed, shaking her head before turning to y/n. "Are you okay, love?"

"No, you're not," Nicole called after him. "You're going to sit down and make it up to her."

Oscar sighed, dramatically dragging himself to sit at the dining table. "y/n, my dearest, my darling, the love of my life—"

"Uh-huh," y/n nodded, very pleased with herself. "Go on."

"I am deeply sorry for accidentally assaulting you in my sleep. It was truly the lowest moment of my life, and I will never recover from the shame."

"Wow," Lily said, sipping her tea. "That was beautiful. Almost made me cry."

"Almost," y/n repeated. "But not quite. Try harder, Piastri."

"I— okay, you definitely don't need an apology if you're this entertained," Oscar muttered.

Nicole sighed, shaking her head. "I still think you should sleep on the floor tonight."

"Mum!"

Chris chuckled, clapping a hand on Oscar's shoulder. "Tough break, son."

y/n grinned, nudging Oscar's leg under the table. "See? The justice system works."

"I hate all of you," Oscar muttered.

y/n just smiled sweetly, finally reaching for a piece of toast. "You love us."

Breakfast continued mostly as normal—if you considered y/n milking this entire situation for all it was worth normal. She had made herself very comfortable at the table, feet propped up on the chair next to her, occasionally touching her cheek like she was in immense pain.

Oscar side-eyed her. "You're doing the most right now."

"I deserve to do the most," y/n shot back. "I have suffered."

Nicole, who had been pretending to mind her own business, casually nodded along. "She has."

"Mum—"

"Don't fight it, Oscar," Hattie interrupted, grinning from across the table. "Just accept your villain arc."

"I don't have a villain arc, because I'm not a villain—"

"A likely story," Lily muttered, sipping her tea.

Oscar groaned, letting his head drop onto the table. "Why are you all like this?"

"Like what?" Chris asked, spreading butter on his toast like this wasn't the most ridiculous family debate in history.

"Against me!"

"We're not against you," Nicole said soothingly. "We're just... not on your side."

Oscar lifted his head to give her an incredulous look. "That's literally the same thing."

"Details," y/n hummed.

"I hate you," Oscar muttered.

y/n just grinned, absolutely thriving in this moment. "Again, you love me."

Chris leaned back in his chair, watching them with amusement. "So, does this mean Oscar is officially on trial?"

"Oh, absolutely," Hattie confirmed. "I've already taken notes."

"Notes?" Oscar repeated, looking genuinely horrified.

"Yep," Lily smirked, pulling out her phone. "We have evidence, too. Just wait until we tell the group chat."

Chris just shook his head. "Sorry, mate. You're stuck with them."

Oscar sighed deeply, rubbing his temples. "This is not how I thought today was going to go."

y/n reached across the table, finally offering a tiny bit of mercy by squeezing his hand. "Aww, don't be too mad," she said. "At least you're cute when you're miserable."

"Fantastic," Oscar deadpanned. "That makes everything better."

y/n just laughed, squeezing his hand again before letting go. "That's the spirit, baby."

And with that, the trial continued, because Oscar Piastri was never getting out of this one.

Oscar had resigned himself to his fate.

There was no escaping this. He could argue, he could defend himself, he could explain a hundred times over that it had happened in his sleep, but it didn't matter. He had accidentally punched his girlfriend in the face, and now, his entire family—the people who were supposed to love and support him—had turned against him.

And worst of all? y/n was milking it for all it was worth.

She sat at the table, completely comfortable, resting her chin in her hand, fingers delicately grazing her bruised cheek every so often with a dramatic sigh. Lily and Hattie, the enablers, kept sending her sympathetic looks, while Nicole kept sneaking her extra food, as if she were a wounded soldier.

And y/n, of course, was thriving.

"It still hurts, you know," she sighed, poking at her cheek for added effect. "It's actually quite tragic. I never thought I'd live to see the day where my own boyfriend would betray me like this."

Oscar's head hit the table. "It happened in my sleep, y/n."

"Does that make it hurt less?" she countered, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes!"

"Oh, wow," Lily mused. "So, if I accidentally stabbed you in my sleep, would that make it okay?"

"That's not the same thing!"

"But is it not?"

"No, it's not!"

"Hmm."

Oscar glared. "Don't 'hmm' me, Lily."

"I just think it's interesting," she said airily, sipping her tea.

"Okay, you all need to stop acting like I beat her up—"

"You kind of did," Hattie cut in.

"Oh my God—"

"Just own it, mate," Chris said, chuckling as he took another bite of his toast. "You're gonna be hearing about this for years to come."

"I didn't even get to fight!" Oscar argued. "It was over before I even woke up!"

"Sounds like a you problem," y/n hummed, biting into her croissant.

Oscar ran a hand down his face. "I hate you."

"You love me," she corrected, smiling sweetly.

"Debatable."

Nicole, who had been quietly observing, suddenly leaned over and pressed a cool ice pack to y/n's cheek. "Here, sweetheart," she murmured, ever the caring mother. "This should help."

y/n sighed, tilting her head to rest against it. "See? Someone cares about me."

Oscar gawked. "Are you—?" He turned to his mother, betrayed. "Mum!"

Nicole shrugged. "You did hit her."

"IN MY SLEEP!"

"Excuses, excuses," Hattie tutted. "Typical man behaviour."

Oscar groaned, pushing his chair back and standing up. "I need better people in my life."

"Good luck finding them," y/n grinned. "You're stuck with us."

By mid-afternoon, Oscar had to admit—y/n's bruise did look bad.

It had darkened considerably, a deep shade of purple along her cheekbone. It wasn't massive, but it was noticeable, and Oscar felt bad. He still stood by the fact that it was an accident, but it was unfortunate, and he didn't like seeing her hurt.

Not that y/n would ever let him forget it.

When they were getting ready to leave for the paddock, she insisted on taking forever to do her makeup.

"Why are you taking so long?" he asked, watching her in the mirror.

"I have to make sure the bruise is covered, Oscar," she said dramatically. "You wouldn't understand because you don't have to cover up the evidence of your crimes."

"Oh, my God," Oscar muttered. "You are insufferable."

He just rolled his eyes. "Let's go before I leave you here."

Of course, the first thing people noticed when they arrived was y/n's face.

yn just thought he was busy that's all. he's a celebrity and celebrities are always busy, right? it wasn't until a week later where he finally invited her to a dinner celebration with other f1 drivers. his hand resting on her lower back the majority of the time as he whispered sweet nothings in her ear.

"you should've not worn this dress. you look out of this world" he whispered in her ear before placing a peck on her cheek. she felt herself start forming a smile at his compliment. no matter how hard she tried not give him an reaction she always failed. the sweetness from him quickly ended when he left her alone in the table going to chat along with the other boys.

she was incredibly bored, one of her fingers tapping the table. she didn't know anyone in the celebration. the girlfriends of the other drivers were in their own world not even paying attention to her. yn was safe to say she felt excluded by everyone here. she would've been talking to lily but lily seemed to skip this dinner party this time.

20 minutes ended up passing by, she felt incredibly small at this point. she flinched slightly feeling someone tap her shoulder. her gaze shifted to the person next to her. he was smiling at her widely. "hey! did charles dumbass leave you here alone?" yn chuckled slightly. "I guess he got too caught up with the others" he hummed with her response.

"I'm lando" she hummed giving him a soft smile, "lando? alright im yn" he grinned this time showing off his pearly whites. "yn, what a pretty name for a pretty girl" she laughed shaking her head.

she placed her chin on her hand taking in his appearance, "I would compliment you back but I don't think I can" he leaned closer to her. "oh really? why? is charles your boyfriend now?" she was going to say yes but he wasn't her boyfriend. "well not yet. though I only have eyes on him" lando tilted his head and leaned back onto his chair. "if I was him I would've made you my girlfriend already by the third month" his words made her heart sting.

the ride back to the hotel was silent. when the two had step inside charles closed the door behind them leaning against the door. "didn't know you were all smiles with lando" yn sat on the edge of the bed looking at him. "what? he was just keeping me company" she frowned, why was he acting like this?

"stay away from him pretty, he just wants to steal you from me" he spoke softly as he walked in front of her. "you can do that for me right?" his hand brushed her strand of hairs away from her eyes. she was a weak women, "yeah I can" charles smiled satisfied he grip her chin up placing a kiss on her lips. he slowly pushed her down onto the bed. "so good to me, yeah?" he heavily breathed.

"god, let's get you out of this dress"

yn felt stupid for waiting his notifications. she wonder what went wrong was it because she responded too quickly? she didn't know but she was tired. she was tired of his excuses for not asking her out officially. she was tired of him responding so late to her lately.

My decent into the Lily Orchard Rabbit Hole started from this video, well it actually started from the original Dungeon Meshi video, and ever since then, nothing's been the same. It would have been easier to just ignore the video and move on with my life, but I literally have a youtube channel where I review anime. I talk about it. So when Lily was pulling shit out of her ass to make this fantastic show look bad, that's when I had to do a double take and actually start looking at her critically.

After the original Dungeon Meshi video the veil that Lily covered herself with to make herself seem like a very well spoken media critic started to crack (for me). This was around the time @saiscribbles popped up in my feed with her Steven Universe Lily critque and I shit you not, I sat through all 2hrs of Sai's video and I was more entertained and energized watching that long video, of a much longer VOD, then I was watching any of Lily's video. Watching Sai was the first domino that tipped over and because of that video more Lily Orchid critcism popped up in my feed and I was introduced to people like @agramuglia and @crimsonender and the more I watched them, the deeper the rabbit hole became. At first, I was more interested in watching how these people took apart Lily's media takes because I was starting to realize that Lily has shit media takes and is as media literate as 4yr old toddler, but the more they took apart her takes, the more her takes started to seem........sinister.

Enter:

I remember Sai making multiple comments about the game: The Coffin of Andy and Leyley and mentioning that Lily likes it because it is a game that has incest in it. At the time I didn't know that Lily had made a video about it and that it was popular, so I just said, "Well this is pretty weird" and tried to move on from it. Then on a random day, a video from a youtuber by the name Courtney Peet popped up

This video was alot to watch, I honestly couldn't sit through the entire thing without feeling sick and taking breaks, and I've watched and read alot of deplorable things but this was just to much. The day after I watched this video. I shit you not, Lily released her video addressing the allagtions and I went "Allegations!?!?!? THERE'S MORE!!!!!!!", and I remember clicking on that video and in the first few minutes I clicked off immediatly, because I could tell right away that Lily was not taking the accuasations leveied against her seriously. I probably should have seen that she wasn't going to take the allagations seriously when she drew her sister, Courtney, as Leyley from the TCOAAL in the thumbnail addressing the allagations. I don't know the entire plot of the game but i do know that Andy is the one who preyed on Leyley (his sister), that should have signaled to me that this was going to be a dumpster fire of a video, but a part of me had hope in Lily's ability to be a decent human being, but reality is often disappointing.

I am skipping over alot more details here but to summarise it for anyone who read the first part and thinks that I don't like Lily because she didn't like Dungeon Meshi. That is not the reason I dislike her, it's not because she's trans either incase she or her wife stumble across this post.

I wanna make it clear that the reason I don't like Lily is because she's a bad media critic who is an alleged predator who might have assaulted her sister, and she is someone who has used the platform she is on and her populairty to allegedly, prey on her younger audience and has both written a fanfiction that has CP and partakes in stories involving incest (this is not alleged, there are multiple instances of Lily engaging in stories that have some form of incest in them).

I’m not the biggest fan of Bison and Kant. As in, I don’t know that they’ll stay together or that they’re necessarily good for each other. But I see Style and Fadel in for the long haul. Maybe it’s because Style was always very up front about who he was and what he was after. The only thing he lied about was liking heavy metal, and everyone knew he was full of crap so it hardly counts. Kant and Bison said a lot of romantic stuff to each other, but Kant also lied about what he liked and didn't like. It feels more like Bison is in love with the idea of being in love and Kant checked every box of his fantasy.

the evans sisters?? stop and consider for a moment. they grew up in a lower middle class family, father was always out for work, mother stayed at home and took care of them and the house. lily and petunia were all for each other, sisters, best friends. and then lily's magic started showing. one year their mom's flowers hadn't bloomed like they usually do and their mom was understandably upset. petunia tried everything she knew about gardening in hopes of fixing the flowers and lily just willed them to open with the wave of a hand. she jumped up in excitement and ran to her mom to tell her what had just happened while petunia stared at the flowers in shock, trying to figure out what lily had just done so she could too. but it never worked for her like it did for lily.

their parents thought it was strange at first, a coincidence or dumb luck whenever lily pulled some trick, but petunia knew and she tried so hard to replicate it, to no avail. eventually the jealousy turned into resentment, curios questions turned into insults every time lily would do something. lily was so confused because she hadn't done anything? she tried to not do it anymore, even if she herself didn't know how she was doing it, but her magic only grew stronger and petunia's insults became more intense. when lily received her hogwarts letter, she was so excited to finally be surrounded by people like her. her parents congratulated her, her mother kissed her temple and her father promised they would take her shopping to get everything she needed. petunia only glared at her, muttering how she would finally be together with the freaks where she belonged.

petunia never sent any letters to lily while she was at hogwarts, at least not on her own accord. lily would send her birthday gifts every year, something she had made herself. a happy birthday card that was charmed to sing when it opened, a sparkling bouquet of flowers charmed to never close. every year without fail petunia would send the birthday gift back, either untouched or ripped to shreds. lily never gave up trying.

i genuinely believe lily's relationship with petunia fundamentally shaped her understanding of the world. the closest person to you, the one meant to protect you and love you, shunning you and leaving you to fend for yourself? it's no wonder lily clung to the first bit of kinship she sensed in severus and refused to let go of him even when everyone told her to. because he was always there for her and she wouldn't dare leave him behind (not like petunia had). also just a personal hc for lily, but i think she trouble making female friends specifically because of how her relationship with petunia had deteriorated. like in my head she had severus and no one else until like... fourth year maybe when she finally started coming out of her shell and became friends with mary and marlene

lily never stopped loving petunia, she knew harry would go to her and she still trusted petunia enough to protect her son. yet petunia did the exact opposite. i wanna put her under a microscope because how does it get that bad??? how do you let your childish jealousy take over your life to the point where you neglect and abuse an innocent child - your own nephew??? you don't stop being a sister just because the other half is dead, but i think petunia had stopped seeing herself as lily's sister long before lily died.

everyone talks about the black brothers but the black SISTERS??? arguably even more interesting bc you have more dynamics to explore bc they're all so different but in the end they're one in the same.

they were all raised to be obedient and quiet, their last name meaning nothing but an easy way to marry them off because continuing the bloodline was all they were good for. bellatrix was always loud, even as a child, because she was taught her family was superior and she couldn't understand why she wasn't treated the way she deserved to be. did her family name mean nothing just because she wasn't a male heir? did her extensive knowledge in magic mean nothing because the only way she could make her parents proud was by becoming a wife and a mother? why was she punished for the same behaviors her male counterparts were rewarded for? bella never thought to question blood purity as it was ingrained in her since birth, but the roles that she was forced to play didn't seem noble to her.

andromeda was quieter in comparison, but never far too behind bellatrix, always nodding along and eager to make her older sister proud. the seeds of doubt in her mind were planted later at hogwarts and she foolishly asks questions, only getting punished in response. when she's pushed away by her mother, she turns to the one person who would never hurt her for her curiosity but even her sister can give her no further answer than "father said so". frustrated and disappointed, andromeda closes in on herself and seeks her own answers, coming to conclusions that make the entire foundation of her family fall apart.

narcissa was the "perfect daughter", the one that would only speak when spoken to, the one that could walk into a room unnoticed and leave without anyone saying a single word to her. she was a slytherin, engaged to the malfoy heir at 16, she had practically completed all of her duties by then and proved to be useful. but she was also bella and andy's little sister, the one hiding behind them so no one could see her, the one tugging on their sleeves when she felt anxious, the one braiding flowers into their hair when she was bored, the one watching silently as both of her sisters drifted away and she was left alone.

andromeda leaving is such a heartbreaking moment to me because i think both bellatrix and narcissa knew it would happen, they had seen the signs but had never known the cause. i think bellatrix tried to to stop her from going through with it, tried to convince her to stay, to explain what was troubling her because bellatrix was her older sister, she could help, that was her job. and andromeda pushes her away because she knows bellatrix would never look at her again if she told her what was troubling her. when the truth is finally revealed, the only question bella can muster is: "do you trulu love him more than your own family?" and andromeda's silence is enough of an answer. she refuses to be like her mother, like bellatrix is soon to become, like narcissa will be forced to, a wife stuck in a loveless marriage with children she didn't want. ted loves her and she loves ted, that love means more than the conditional affections she was given in her family.

that action, the betrayal of choosing someone of dirty blood over her own sisters had surely left a mark on both bellatrix and narcissa. narcissa attempted to get closer to bellatrix again, tried to provide some comfort and familiarity but bellatrix was inconsolable. she fled england completely, choosing instead to focus on her magic as her mind slowly closed in on itself. and narcissa was left alone again, her only solace a marriage she forced herself to pretend would make her happy, would fill the void of what her sisters had destroyed.

and so many years later, you can tell the wound never closed. narcissa, who watched as everything unfolded without daring to interfere, looking the dark lord in the eyes and lying to protect her family because she understands andromeda now, nothing is worth losing the ones you love and the ones who love you. her son looks toward her for protection and she will provide it in any way she can, because her son's life means more than anything the dark lord could ever offer.

It was awful, thank u for asking <33 the beginning didn’t make any sense (when did Tedros devolve from suave cult leader to street rat who doesn’t shower), Jocelyn’s arc didn’t make any sense (why is she abruptly a boss bitch who needs no man), Troye Sivan contributed nothing to the story, and oh my god do not get me started on Rachel Sennott and how her character did literally nothinggg. The only thing we got from this is music and fits. I think the wardrobe for Lily’s character was cool despite the on the nose sexualization (I loved her white dress look in the finale). I also think the wardrobe for the Levinson version is better than that for the Amy version (they leaked a while ago & I found the outfits mediocre).

My fav track ever that I rewinded for the longest time is A Lesser Man. It’s just mwah. I also rly loved One of the Girls, Fill the Void, and I’m a Freak (in that order). The Mike Dean synths paired w The Weeknd’s soulful Trilogy vibes were soo much fun to listen to. I also loved the theme score. I think it’s called The Lure on Spotify or something.

The whole plot twist about Jocelyn being this conniving mastermind left such a bad taste in my mouth. Like imagine the optics of making an abuse victim seem as though she’s the perpetrator / asked for the abuse, while letting the actual abuser / literal pimp off the hook (the angelic score playing in the background to Tedros’s reintroduction was so confusing, like I guess we’re just gonna forgive he’s a pimp???). It just goes to show where Levinson’s and The Weeknd’s headspaces were making this. Nothing at the end felt organic or deserved. It just felt forced and flat.

The finale wasn’t even fun bad. It was just boring bad & such a drag. This will not be winning an Emmy anytime soon (to no one’s surprise lmao)

(edit because i actually answered this a few days ago, but i also find it very sus that she did a "yahoo news interview" pertaining to re2r and how she "received criticism" for her role, (which would be nearly impossible to find now as re2r came out in 2019.) it would be hard to verify whether or not she actually received widespread criticism, which i still think was only pertaining to the voice change (not a huge amount of disappointment) and her usage of swears (which is hardly a criticism on her acting ability and rather the script choices) it's just weird to be preemptively stating that she was harassed for the role and that she "accepted the criticism" and that claire "matured and no longer swears as much anymore" which is hardly a character change? how is she supposed to swear constantly in death island? which is A SCRIPTED MOVIE?? she "stopped swearing" because they (infinite darkness and death island were HEAVILY SCRIPTED. was she supposed to just yell FUCK YOU all the time??? this also had an outpouring of comments on a particular tweet where everyone essentially, didn't know she received criticism, but that she "took it in stride"

IT'S JUST KINDA SUS TO ME. the implications and timing of it are weird considering Lily is still receiving harassment to this day.

she's essentially a grifter- in ways that she panders to cleon shippers but also doesn't at the same time- i'm not the first one to say it and i won't be the last, but a lot of people do not like stephanie with the role of claire (particularly with how she characterizes claire.) a lot of people also wish that claire's face model was changed back to her more mature one since she's not 19 anymore

(at the same time again- if they did something COOL/INTERESTING with claire, then i'd like her more- but she's just bleh as a character to me)

the "fall" scene was never scripted. also i find it odd considering i rarely see stephanie on nick's streams but that's neither here nor there lmao.

stephanie holds this weird self insert ship with leon but at the same time (like cleon shippers) always have to cast out other women and put down ada, as ada is literally leon's only love interest par for some fan service. this is one of my favorites off the album and it is very much dumbledore and grindelweld. (unfortunately? idk bc zar did so amazing fleshing or their backstory that its fascinating and i dont like them as people, but their characters are fascinating and the PARALLELS mmmm so good)
