1, 9, 10, and 18 for Kyra for that get to know your TWST OC ask thing!
Hi anon! Thank you for the ask! 💗
Questions for the TWST oc ask game here!
Club: Which club does your twst OC join and why? Is there anything memorable about the club fair day/their first day at the club? Which clubmate is their favorite?
Kyra is in the Equestrain Club!! Shes an animal lover through and through, and she couldnt pass up the chance to join!!! Her horse, Lady, was a noble gal. Extremely well trained and haughty, but she fell into a depression after an incident with her former handler.
Ever since Lady refused to run, often just staring into the wall of her stable. Kyra decided to try and take this challenge on, determined to get Lady back up on her feet and running like a horse should be !
Kyra was very gentle with Lady, and it was a slow process, but it was all worth it. Because slowly, Lady was acting like a proper horse again! Even more so as Kyra taught her how to misbehave and have fun galloping around again. You can bet you’ll find Kyra and Lady racing around as fast as they can, jumping around and having fun. Though its probably a safety hazard— nothing can really stop either of them from doing what they want. So! You can bet Kyra sneaks out Lady from time to time to go for a little run.
Lady adores Kyra, too! Super protective of her and… a man hater. Yeah.
As for club members, the one she gets along with the most is Silver! Though they’re very different, they get along really well! And bond during club hours :3
Name: What does your twst OC's name mean? Why does Rook/Floyd call them [insert nickname]?
OOOH IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE !!!!!
Depending on what language you check, it has different meanings, but every one of them suit her perfectly.
In Greek, the origin language for her name, it means “Queen”, “Ruler”, “Lord” or “Lady”; yet in Japanese it can mean “Glittering” or “Shiny”.
“Sun”, “Far-Sighted” and “Throne” in Persian, “Beam of Light” in Sanskrit, “Leader Of The People”, “Beloved”, “The One People Look To” in Russian, and “Beloved”, “Precious”, “Valuable” in Turkish.
As for her nicknames, I actually talked about why Floyd’s nickname for her is “Sea Angel” here!
As for Rook’s nicknames, he has two! Of course theres “Trickster”, but theres also “Princesse de la Lumière” , or “Princess of Light”! Kyra is very shiny, and she notably brings love and light along with her wherever she goes <3 (he also comments on how her beauty is ‘blinding’… yeah idk either but Kyra is flattered WHAHAHA)
Subject: What is your twst OC's best subject? Worst? Do they study with another whom excels at the same subject? Do they ask anyone for help with the subject they are bad at?
Answered this question here!~
Backstory: Tell me anything about your twst OC's backstory. Their childhood, their parents, their siblings etc. Does their backstory affect how they are as a character now and how they interact with the cast?
Kyra had a very lonely childhood. Never allowed to leave the castle she grew up in, alienated from the rest of her family and everyone else, seen as something ‘inhuman’. Her entire life, perfection was expected of her, it was an obligation. She was meant to be seen, never heard. A figurehead, someone who’s worth has always only been for her status and her beauty.
Coming to NRC, shes struggled a LOT with social cues. While back at home she knew how to handle many of the nobles and royals she interacted with, most of the time she never actually had to speak, seeing as she was expected not to.
Now… she basically cant shut up. There are some jokes that she doesn’t get either, and there are times where she takes things a little too seriously. She just… isnt used to interacting with other people as herself , and it takes her a long time to get used to it.
It definetly affects her relationship with some of the cast and how they develop in the storyline, which is why she values the people that accept her nonetheless so very much.

Me either. Onu yeni gördüm. iyi görünüyordu (I just saw her, she looked good)- She stopped herself mind thought the second the conversation drifted to Aspen's sisters, or more specifically, one sister in question. Her thoughts quickly switched to Turkish to prevent herself from thinking anything she might regret. I don't know. I don't even have sisters. Cousins. Cousins I have. Do you have any cousins? Though... yeah. I'm not sure? I used to think I knew what to say, but I never really was a good therapist, Her nose dipped even lower in defeat, only to perk up slightly at the mention of the leg. Sitting up, she leaned forward, only for her eyes to widen in horror. Did it actually up and walk away? I guess we can at least tell Ben where it was. But, do you think an animal might have gotten it or... someone else?
"I have no fucking idea how he does it. I can barely keep up with what my sisters are doing." Granted, the Bishops liked to believe themselves to be built that way. As Elif crossed her paws, Aspen punched her hands on her hips. Every waking moment, she crawled closer to becoming one of the old maids who couldn't stand it when things were too loud, smelly, or infringing on her privacy. Not to mention how she was standing. Oh ... a belated realisation, that Elif's thought about privacy came through Aspen's head. "Yeah, I get it. Like, what do you even say about half of this shit?" It often made her speechless. Digging through the underbrush, she paused. "... but bingo, I think I just found where it was laying. Was." She made sure to be specific. It was an empty impression, but the scent resembled Ben's well enough.

Doctor Who is a Brazilian Telenovela.
Let me elaborate. It's (almost) as long;
all that romance and family drama (ooh, there are so many examples but let's say: "oh no, they can't be together, because they're siblings and they don't know it!" vs Doctor having a snog with all the Ponds);
sometimes unclear cause and effect sequence (timey-wimey?);
characters that died and came back to life, multiple times;
no one really knows what's going on;
(that motif when someone returns, changed, a new man, new face, and is not recognized at first (timelord magic));
digging back old characters and other plot devices (not necessarily bad decision);
it's fucking dramatic;
et cetera.
#i can't think of anything more and i'm not really a specialist of telenovelas#i used to be really into the turkish ones#and i'm talking about new who bc never seen an episode from classic who#(still s5 here)#i shouldn't have access to the internet after 9 pm#bc im bullshiting my terribly terid brains on tmblr#So dramatic#all of them#everyone has a crush on the doctor#so much drama#(i'm here for that)#and it gives a bit#the mortal instruments#with clary - jace - sebastian combo#“ so nonetheless you kissed your brother ”#never mind should be sleeping#doctor who#dw

once a ballerina, safiye held a somewhat peculiar relationship over hew own body. although such improves through those last dew years, she remained careful around sweets and a regular at gym, ultimately safi relied on her physique to earn a living. vanity, often denied, would always be a priority as she did relish on feeling confident. " thats the saddest thing i've heard all day… that i cannot have delicious carrot cake " a pout lingered on red lips, slightly dramatic, given the bakery has a myriad of options. " do you have something with blueberries? " perhaps this could help them narrow it down.
" no, not really. the bouncers stopped her from trying anything against me or the other girls, but the yelling was very annoying… " such an incident, although rare, wasn't entirely strange for an exotic dancer. " im good, dont worry, the guy paid me before she could get there " safiye couldn't quite blame herself or the club for a cheating man, as long as he set a generous amount for them, it really wasn't none of her business. " that sounds so good! bet you're gonna run out of stock in an hour " baking was indeed an art, one she couldn't master. " at the chance this might sound odd. but would you take an order for an specific dessert? a turkish one, my granny used to do it, but sadly i did not inherit her ability. "
nicolas felt pride flaring up at the words. as a baker, he took it as a great success when a customer couldn't decide which one of the desserts they wanted to take home. "you can take more than one," he suggested like usual, all sincere smile and bright eyes. "the carrot cake is fresh out of the oven—no, not really," he let out a small chuckle at that, "it's still warm, that's what i'm saying. what kind of dessert do you like? maybe i can help pick one that suits your taste." "ouch." his face twisted into a grimace as the image of said occurrence entered his mind. he could imagine, to some extent, how stressful the situation might be. "yeah, absolutely agree. but she didn't do anything to you, right?" nicolas eyed her critically. "you're okay?" at her question, he merely shrugged his shoulders. "nothing interesting. i spent the whole weekend finishing up my christmas menu list." with a grin, he rubbed his hands together. "there's gonna be so much chocolate and rum. imagine the smell!"

english (and almost every other european language tbh) has always been fucking weird to me because why the fuck would you need gender-specific names to like, body scent. why not just call them the same thing. what exactly is the difference between a perfume and a cologne?? or like, niece and nephew? i mean why go out of your way to invent two words that mean the same thing but one is only for men and the other is only for women? when they're quite literally the same thing???
#i remember back in 2020 i had met this nonbinary italian kid on an anime group chat#and they were fucking appaled when i told them we didn't have gender-specific pronouns in turkish#they were like what do you call people then?? and i explained we use the one syllable 'o' for any gender#they had joked then that they wished they lived here instead (or in another world where a not so transphobic Turkey existed i gusss)#but i remember thinking. we understand each other just fine without the pronouns. so why did anyone ever feel the need to invent them?#and in a further note in turkish we dont even use sister and brother. we just call each other siblings#sometimes when you really need to specify it you just say girl siblings or boy sibling. but we dont have actual words for them#as you can probably figure from the post we also dont have seperate names for niece and nephew or perfume and cologne#we do have different names for aunt and uncle though i'll give you that#but that's probably because turkish goes way too much in detail when it comes to terms of familial connection#on another note i just remember something else that fucking pisses me off in english#MISS AND MRS#like who tf thought yeah we need different terms for those#what was the thought process that went into that#in all seriousness though it feels like the western mysogony runs so deep that its affiliated the language in a fundamental level#thoughts#i talk#language#learning languages

#language#langblr#lingustics#english#(I’m sorry if the examples are a bit eurocentric but I tried to get some fun non-european ones in there!)#I love the ones (like Tamil) that are live long/live for a hundred years#and most of these have really cool follow ups for if you sneeze for a second time#(especially french and turkish!! go check them out!!)#At least three languages from the hypothetical Niger-Congo lamguage family simply has ‘sorry’ as the reply#which is also really cute#this is such a dumb little language topic (/pos)#but it’s so fascinating!!#I always get sorta put off when I’m reading/watching something and ‘bless you’ is the response to a sneeze#I guess I’m just so used to ‘prosit’#maria talks about things

i've tried everything, different ways, different times, different places. i just can't seem to find my passion for writing back.
#writers block my ass this shit has been going on for years#you love going around telling people that you write when in truth you haven't written anything in ages#i don't even consider myself a writer anymore because it feels wrong to call it that#everything i put out is influenced by something. ifeel like i can never truly be original#a few shitty pieces i wrote at the peak of a fixation don't really count because i've abandoned them too#yes i've written them but im so afraid to associate them with my name#how does one hate what they create so much#yet still want to create#when will it be satisfying?#when will i be like yeah. i like this. i made this. this is mine.#i dont think the problem is language either like sure it can be improved but i can't even write in my own language?#i used to love writing in turkish and peopel would praise me for my stories but looking back at it even that wasn't original#it was never mine#it was always about something that affected me#this is sad its just sad.#writing

Cw: race, genocide denial, antiblackness
Just working through some thoughts after seeing the millionth annoying "Are x group white? Discuss" tweets.
Honestly I think like 90% of discourse around race and whiteness in leftist spaces could be solved by people saying "I don't know that history well enough". Like, people when they discuss race, have these competing internal desires to treat race as solely defined by current social standings, and also point to historical oppression as evidence. Neither works. If you go purely by current social standings, then we have absolutely nothing to build off of besides personal lived experiences. I've met Italians who have had old white people call them wops. Does that mean Italians aren't white? Are Polish people not white because of the existence of anti-polish sentiments? Are Russians not white because of how often they're portrayed as villains? Are Armenians white universally bc of the Kardashians?
But then if you base it entirely off history, then you have to accept that no Jewish person has ever attained whiteness. That race is a permanent and immutable aspect of someone's character - something that just... That's just racial ideology, same as it ever was.
The reality is whiteness is nebulous and difficult to pin down because it serves a social function. It needs to be fluid, but it needs to justify itself by appearing as if it's immutable. It also props up European nation-building myths. Like, if the question is "Are Italians white" the question should be "Well, who's an Italian?". Who's a Russian? I know Black Russians, and Black Ashkenazim. Is the understanding they're somehow less part of those groups due to their Blackness? Because I know they would take serious issue with that. Romans (as in, Italians from Rome) are a core part of the Western nation-building myth. You can't exclude them from whiteness without whiteness collapsing. But Sicilians were ruled by North African Muslims for hundreds of years - they're noticeably darker, and their culture is distinct. So Sicilians were denied whiteness, and they were used as a scapegoat for xenophobic sentiments during waves of Italian immigration. When they had sufficiently assimilated, then suddenly Sicilians were "Italians" and Italians are white, so Sicilians are white. So you've now managed to redefine whiteness across an era of immigration to build white unity and maintain a white supremacist majority.
White Fascism is self-destructive and suicidal because it maintains rigid immutable boundaries and requires constant expansion, which means eventually whiteness WILL be a minority. Liberalism upholds whiteness by redefining whiteness over time to maintain a White social majority. When whiteness needs to be mutable, there needs to be a population that can be used as the scapegoat. (Which is also why anti-Blackness is a core component of White supremacist racial ideology - it functions as a permanent fixed class to pivot other groups' whiteness around).
That's how it functions in America. But the rules of whiteness ARE mutable, and they change based on time and region. So the question of "Is x person white" really depends on time AND location, and how their identities exist in relation to nation-building myths. And it reaches a point where asking a question like "Are Armenians white?" or "Are Balkan Muslims white?" or "Are Jews white?" stops being useful, because the point shouldn't be to reify race, it should be to point out that people who fail to fit neatly within these national racial narratives are the best possible example to show how Whiteness contradicts itself. Is an Arab white? Is a Jew white? Is a North African white? It depends, when, where, and who are we talking about?
#this was prompted by the billionth annoying arab#posting about how al anfal was about purging whiteness from thr middle east#like my brother in Allah you ARE THE MAJORITY HERE#you are the whiteness here#we'll both be not white in Louisiana but you'll still have the money and backing of Arab nationalism#and if you fail and Kurds somehow form a nationstate we will inevitably become the whiteness of that state#and also like one of the most famous Kurds in history was a Black man freed from the Arab slave trade#you did it because your nationalism fails to account for the falsity of racial ideology#and you need to justify your continued existence and power#This is also why I've stopped really fully IDing as Kurdish bc like#im Shabak and a Kurdish Jew#both things ive seen the KRG fail to account for#so even if Kurdistan somehow becomes a nation state my family will still be SOL and stranded#also I only touched on it but it does need to be made clear that antiblackness is a core part of white ideology#even in supposedly post-racial ideologies like Anzaldua's Mestizx ideology#Blackness is positioned as something that needs to be solved to resolve the contradictions in post-racial nationalisms#the only people who have given me kindness about my complex familial history in the US are other nationless minorities and Black folks#and being allowed to sit in on an Anakarta reading group changed my life#if anyone is curious for more about the discussion of racial construction in the Middle East#read Nesting Orientalisms and The White Turkish Man's Burden#this is basically just me processing how coexist with my experiences + the knowledge I've gained from loved ones#also if anyone has issues with anything I've said here feel free to DM me but dont reblog this#I'm def open to discussing things and having my understanding corrected or challenged#but if you do it via reblogs ur getting blocked lmao

watching a turkish drama now and its just the right touch of fucking insane
#its called duy beni btw#and first I like watching it cause I speak persian and I never realized how similar persian and Turkish are#like so much of the same vocabulary#second the plot is so crazy 😭#its a bit dramatic#honestly watching so many foreign dramas im starting to realize american media is not nearly as dramatic as these other shows#nor are they as long THESE TURKISH DRAMAS ARE 2 HOURS LONG PER EPISODE#like is it that serious do we really need this many scenes#anyways let me break down the plot cause it kinda reminds me of elite#its basically about this girl named ekim who is best friends with this girl leila#and one day while ekim and leila are walking to school leila is hit by a car#and the person that hit Leila was wearing a clown mask and then drove off into the parking lot of a nearby school#where only rich kids attend#and so people are able to conclude that whoever hit leila was someone that went to that school#but the school covers up the whole thing and then to make amends offers a scholarship to three students from the neighborhood#and ekim wanting to be the avenger attends the rich school along with her two friends bekir and ayse#and boy does this school have its problems. like crazy ass bullying#and its all about how ekim’s trying to figure out who hit leila while also trying to survive the very intense bullying culture at the school#and you know after watching so many foreign dramas and seeing how bullying seems to be a very common issue in all of them#its starting to make me see how the us is a little bit different in that regard#don’t get me wrong we have some very sick and twisted bullying happening here#but a lot of is cyber and relational bullying#so not necessarily as physical or even verbal but mostly done through rumors and gossip and exclusion#and then with the added fact of being jerks on the internet#and although relational bullying is terrible the stuff ive seen in these kdramas and turkish dramas seems... like REALLY bad?#Ive seen a lot of Koreans talk about how bullying is a really severe problem in their schools but I wonder how bad it actually is in turkey#cause I assume duy beni is not the 100% accurate portrayal of turkish schools#anyways

Man I hate tomatoes, but what I really hate is how people are like "hear you loud and clear" and then hand me tomato stuff
#like I actually mean it... and that includes most red sauces... pizza sauce is the only way I don't mind it#but legit; I know people love being dicks about food; but I can't stand spaghetti cause I actually mean it about not liking tomatoes#red sauce sucks to me; it's nasty... so my mom very kindly has made tomato and red sauce for the chicken#and like... can't live without rotel (which is basically just tomatoes)#and like... she know; she knows I don't care for red sauce#but of course... that's only for places it's bad to her#if she likes it then clearly it's an exception#but no... I just... dislike... tomatoes#I don't know why pizza sauce is the one exception... maybe it's the way everything comes together... I don't know...#but legit; the number of tomatoes I want is zero#and if I had an allergy people would have killed me 1000 times over#...ketchup; that's the other way I actually like tomatoes; and by extension bbq sauce (the ones that use it)#I guess I'm ok for some reasons with some processed forms of it#and like listen... I can appreciate a really fresh ripe tomato; great quality and firm... I just can't stand eating it#get why someone else wants to... but I don't#just... what... what does it take; other than me totally taking over 100% of cooking; in order to get zero tomatoes#to have no one say to me 'well I get that; but of course you'll like it like this!'#no... to offer me a taste of something; to explain why this is different... fine; I like trying things#I like turkish coffee very rarely even though I don't like coffee#but like... I just... I want people to just fucking respect me when I say 'I don't like tomatoes'#and... that's half of why I hope I ever make that soap; cause I know it's worse when it's allergies#want to be someone they can come to and say 'your formulation doesn't work for me'#and be able to say 'what does? I'll start researching if I can make something using that instead'#and even if I can't; at least take them seriously and shoot straight with them#hide zero of my ingredients; straight up snap photos of labels for people to examine themselves if they want#...want to show the respect I wish literally anyone would give me

im thinking of changing isaacs last name, it IS used as a surname however im afraid that because it is also a first name that it will be confusing...
#i really only mark ethnicity for the purposes of finding surnames bc he IS a skunk right#that is his race#however since these characters are all americans i have to figure out their ancestry which is usually european#isaac having greek ancestry blake turkish on her dads side etc#i think isaac is the only one with SEMI recent immigration#not his parents or grandparents tho like great grandparents#well blake technically had more recent immigrants her grandfather was a british immigrant#but i meant for surname purposes that was on her moms side#so ermmmmm#Michail -> Michelakis ?#its basically the same thing exempt it goes from michael (english spelling) - 'son of michael' name meaning#again it IS used as a last name but its usually just#a different spelling of michael#sanctuary#actually according to this website michail is a more popular surname#however it still sounds like a first name so :/#oh also to be clear bc i said skunk was his race#i do NOT do animal racism in the story lmao its honestly more charater flavor#characters species ARE relevant but only for like. size purposes#eve is large because she is the largest species of canine and THAT is relevant#not the fact she is a wolf at all#also mild religion shit bc jesus IS dog jesus in the story#but yeah just saying bc i personally think animal racism is REALLY hard to do well#and i dont want to tackle it unless i think of a story ABOUT that#which sanctuary is not
