sometimes buds ask’ what is it like to be a neurodivergent artist?’ and this is great summary: the charts can look like this, and at same time people will be endlessly posting on how you are ‘not real’ or ‘a bit’. you can hold bestsellers in slot 1 to 4 and still not be 'serious'
i am ultimately ok with this. i love my trot and would not have it any other way, but i think it is worth investigation. when irony poisoning has seeped into everything, how many times does a neurodivergent person have to say ‘actually this is NOT so bad its good. its just good’
when you are autistic, or queer, or both, how much proof do you need to be considered good art? or good business? what do the charts have to look like for me to be a ‘real’ author? or allowed my face mask at a library association conference? or one person not a group of writers?
im coming up on a decade of writing tinglers soon, and people are still talkin about my ‘serious’ works vs my ‘joke books’ and at every turn, as kindly as i can, i shout from the rooftops: THEY ARE ALL SERIOUS BOOKS. THIS IS NOT A BIT.
but its hard when buds have had ‘the correct way to be a writer. the correct way to be an artist. the COOL way to react to a book that is TOO weird’ pounded into their heads by internet culture. 'kill it with fire' they say. 'i need eye bleach' they say without thinking. a line.
heres the thing, the tide IS turning. theres buckaroos jumping in and saying, ‘I want to be a part of this’ and for that they are being rewarded. the publisher who took me seriously is lookin pretty dang good right now with these charts and these sales. i am honored and moved
over time there will be more buds who shed that irony mask. the tide of sincerity is powerful, and the tide of love is inevitable. it is difficult to stand strong in our uniqueness but it also pays off, and I hope to be a shining example. eventually THE TIMELINE BENDS TO YOU
so this is not a thread to complain. i have been trotting long enough that these things do not really bother me. being made fun of and disparaged as ‘not legit art’ while also being objectively successful at the things im made fun of about is kind of the ocean that i swim in.
no. my point of this is to say THANK YOU to those of you who have been trotting by my side over these years. THANK YOU for proving love to me. im so honored by your support, and you should know that YOU have seen beyond the irony poisoned veil that stops many others. YOU get it.
and to those with their own unique perspective on creation: look what you can do. yes there will likely be a lot of resistance to something different, but there is also a LOT of reward. YOU can trot a new path. YOU can prove love is real, not in MY way, but IN YOUR OWN WAY
anyway thank you for reading buckaroos. thank you for your support. LUCKY DAY comes out next summer and it is probably as FAR OUT and existential as the tingleverse has ever gone. you can preorder it here

GT: I should preface this request with an overture of appreciation. GT: For how much your cool and brotherly friendship means to me. GT: It has just been… GT: Absolutely *bully* having a standup gent like you in my corner. GT: Just a grade a dude whos a cut above the others in class and camaraderie. GT: Phew… *gropes for fresh kerchief*.
Wow, Jake is fucking terrified of this guy - or at the very least, he seems incredibly intimidated for a guy who's ostensibly just chatting with a friend.
Unfortunately, this is exactly what I'd expect from a Bro who's not any different from his adult self. Jake's acting exactly like Dave did, back when he was forced to share an apartment with the guy.
TT: Take it easy, bromide. TT: Just about the only way I could salvage endearment from this perilous slope of horseshit would be to discover, really fucking soon mind you, it was a preamble to some floundering invitation for me to rush to your vicinity as nakedly as possible.
In other words, you wish he was hitting on you.
I really don't think he's kidding, especially since both Roxy and Jane seem to want a piece of English, too. Jake's sitting at the epicenter of at least three crushes, which is not a pleasant place to be sitting when you're fifteen.
TT: But since we've already shot that wad's eventuality on so many dry runs of flustered ambivalence that were as hilarious as they were one sided, TT: That leaves only one hope for this message to avoid spiraling toward qualification as a critical fucking defect in the hull of the Mach 10 rocket that is my precious spare time.
And here's the guy's actual personality. It's a fairly even mixture of Rose and Dave, a combination which synergizes much better than you'd expect.
He's still prone to Dave-style rambles - but unlike Dave, his streams of consciousness are every bit as eloquent as Rose's text, which some extra swear words tossed in for flavor.
It's very good, and immediately does a lot to humanize him, especially when all we've seen so far is "roof. now." and "State your business."
TT: And that hope lies in the extent to which you were practicing artful insincerity. TT: Now's your opportunity to pretend that's what you were gunning for. I suggest you seize it. GT: I… GT: Oh. Yes! But of course. GT: The ironies! GT: Good grief how i was bandying them just now. You know me dude. GT: *Blows smoke off red hot irony pistol.* GT: *NONSUGGESTIVELY!!!!!*
lmaoooo
Alright, I can't actually tell if that was a Freudian slip or not - but I kind of hope it was. If these two became a couple, the vibes would be incomprehensible.
TT: I'm guessing you're probably jonesing for uranium about now. No? GT: Ok can you please just sendificate me some more already?? Im in kind of a hurry! [...] TT: You know. I've offered to construct the rabbit for you many times before. I would craft a much deadlier model. […] GT: Damn it man ive told you this is just something i have to do myself. […] TT: Yeah, I know this is your policy. You've done a good job and you should be proud. TT: But it's my responsibility as your friend to offer one last time. TT: Just as it's my responsibility not to just fork over a bunch of uranium just because you ask me in a moment of weakness. […] GT: Why not??? TT: It's too easy.
Throughout this whole conversation, I've been trying to get a grasp on Bro's general vibe - and I think I'm starting to understand it.
When you're talking to Kid Bro, everything is a game - and he'll make damn well sure that you follow the rules.
Jake previously committed to making the bunny alone, and Bro refuses to rescind that rule, even if Jake's no longer following it himself. He strikes me as a guy who frames every interaction he has as transactional, confrontational, or instructional. He's not capable of just shooting the shit - there has to be an angle.
Mind you, I don't think there's any genuine malice in it. I think this is just how he's wired - and I really do think he's trying to help Jake develop as a person, in his own way.
The problem is, we've been down this road before...
...and nothing good lies down this road.
#homestuck liveblog#full liveblog#act 6#s183#4184#edit: ok interestingly he DID offer to rescind the rule#but only if jake lets him fully make the bunny himself#he demands all-or-nothing basically

Hello! Many people have said this but ill say it too, I LOVE YOUR COMIC SO MUCH ( ´ ▽ ` ).。o♡
I really wanted to ask you about how you do the backgrounds? (Something i struggle with) whats the process? Like from start to finish, also, to do the rise backgrounds do you use reference from the show and generally real photo of ny? Or do you come up with them? And last question- The shadow and light on the background- Like HOW
i know it’s a lot of questions but i’m just so curious qwq and wanna learn to be better, thank you again in case you read this and respond, in case you don’t, i hope you have a nice day and a wonderful life uwu keep up the great work! (≧◡≦) ♡
Backgrounds are a really broad subject and I'm always a little overwhelmed when asked this question. Just like drawing the human body, backgrounds take time, repetition, and practice!
My answer got a bit long, so it's going under a read more :) but if you digest info better in video format I found this on youtube
youtube
It pretty much goes over everything I wanted to say, but in a much better way. I wish I had found it before writing all this out lol
ok, first of all, I'm not a teacher nor was I built to be one of those cool helpful art tutorial people who do a full coloured tutorial filled with illustrations. This is just going to be a messy "how I do backgrounds / environment layouts from start to finish." kinda thing.
... lets start with a sight tangent.
Sketch from Life!!!
If you want to get better at backgrounds I recommend doing some sketching out in the real world!
When I was first getting into doing backgrounds I went to cafes and parks to just sketch the buildings and objects. Sketch rocks, flowers, clumps of grass, garbage cans, bottles, tables, street signs, etc. If you are drawing a tree observe how the trunks twist, how the bark flows, or how the leaves are bunched.
If you can't leave the house the same still applies! Sketch the interiors of your house, the walls, or common objects like chairs and bookshelves. How are objects stacked? items on the floor?
If you aren't comfortable with drawing outside or in public you can take some photos to draw from! They are good for practice and you can use them again as references later. Alternatively you can find pictures online of buildings and objects to sketch as practice.
All spaces have objects in them, it becomes easier to draw those kinds of spaces when you already have spent time observing and sketching them.
ALSO! They don't have to be good sketches! It's just to build out your mental catalogue and strengthen your perception of perspective.
now the actual thing...
BACKGROUNDS

(the pictures used for this are my own. I dug them out of my 2022 folder)
Backgrounds have slightly different rules based on what you are making them for. Videogame Environment Concept Art vs Animation Layouts vs Comic Backgrounds vs Illustration backgrounds.
They all follow the same basics, which I will go over here, but the intention and function of those designs are going to be different. It's all about how you set up the scene and what it's purpose is!
Brainstorming and Thumbnailing
I like to think about a location as though it is a character. An abandoned old house with creaky sagging floorboards is very different from a futuristic space ship with sharp metal floor panels. A gas station has a very different feeling from a library.
I usually start by asking what is this location's story? Why was it built and for what purpose? What kinds of things does this room need to fulfill that purpose? You don’t need solid answers, but its good to be thinking about it while you are working.
Next, sketch some ideas for how this place is going to look. For me, this usually involves drawing the idea from multiple angles and then making lists & small sketches of the objects I think should be filling the space.

Example: The main character of my original work is a Wanderer. They collect a lot of things on their travels, but those items have to be small enough to be easily carried in a backpack. I wanted his room to be in the corner of an attic, walled off by curtains, and filled with trinkets. You can see some of my brainstorming above.
References
I only look for references after I've done some sketching and planning; this is to solidify my idea first so that I don't accidentally copy anyone else's work. I will make a moodboard with pictures of lighting, colours, items, rooms with specific ceiling beams, old chairs, etc. basically whatever I feel fits the vibe.
Honestly, I don't use references as much as I should. For ROTTMNT fanart I look at backgrounds and screenshots from the series to study the style. I also reference actual photos of NYC to get a feel for how Rise condenses the visual information.
In general, it's good to have references of real life objects/locations, because there are so many details like cracks in pavement, stickers on polls, crowning on buildings, fancy fencing, weird chair legs, etc. that you might not think of. It's the imperfect details that can make a location feel more alive.
Perspective
Once you have your chosen sketch we move to.... the infamous perspective boxes. Doing backgrounds is just learning to be comfortable drawing So Many boxes and carving items out of them.

Many better artists than myself have made videos on perspective, vanishing points, and all the technical bits. Videos like THIS ONE and THIS ONE are helpful (this post is great too!!). There are probably a lot of classes to be found on Skillshare or Schoolism. I learned a lot of this in my college art course, so I can't give you a specific video which helped me.
You can get by and be a good artist without learning this stuff. There are quite a few successful artists who have admitted they never bothered to learn perspective (one of these people even made a whole graphic novel series).
I personally avoided properly learning this stuff until I was in my 20s because I thought it would be boring and difficult to do. tbh I really wish I had learned it earlier because it's so much fun to make those silly little boxes imo. It looks scary and complicated but, just like drawing humans, it just takes time, repetition, and practice to develop the knowledge and skills.
Cleanup
You have your boxes and lines! Cool! Now to make a scene out of it. Fill in the details, get everything placed were you want it! Generally, the lines of each item will point back towards the horizon line, but they can have different perspective points.
Generally you would want to clean it up and get your room completely sketched before doing the lineart. I tend to combine the steps (not recommended)

Lineart
I've mentioned how I do this before. Closer objects have thicker lines and more detailed inside. Further objects have thinner lines and less detail. I didn't quite achieve that balance with the image below, but it's close enough.

Colours and Shading will have to be a separate post. In the meantime, I highly recommend the book "Color and Light" by James Gurney. I used to borrow it from my local library and a good chunk of my knowledge was learned from it :)
#Artist's Comic Rambles#asks#art related asks#thank you for the ask!! I'm glad to hear you enjoy the comc :D#i hope this was somewhat helpful...#i get overwhelmed by broad questions very easily haha#if you would me to elaborate on something specific I mentioned feel free to ask#i wrote this all out weeks ago and then forgot about it... I just added a link or two but yeah here it is

Thank you @katareyoudrilling for being the best beta, as always!!
chapter tags/warnings: fluff, dancing, flirting, touching, pet names (sweetheart), hand-holding, intense feelings, kissing, I think we've already covered all of the dance moves in this chapter but I added some links used previously just in case
Chapter 13
At call time, you were feeling much more relaxed and ready for the performance. You successfully avoided the tornado that was Greef Karga backstage (where Alexa and Vince were corralling him) and found one of your usual spots in the dressing room near Adrian. He was already dressed for Jee’s piece in a full-coverage bodysuit with a skin color background and abstract shapes printed on it in blue. You knew his fellow dancers were in similar outfits with different colors, and that the shapes were somehow incorporated into the choreography. Jee was good at things like that.
You quickly put on your bodysuit and your sweats over top. It was a little chilly backstage and you had plenty of time before the show would start.
Adrian leaned against the counter to your right and crossed his arms. “Where’s your other half?”
You pointed upwards – there were a couple of dressing rooms that were more private, and you were pretty sure that’s where Din had been getting ready. “He’ll be down in a bit. You ready?”
He nodded, smiling. “This is a fun one. Jee’s choreography is always weird, but cool.”
You laughed as you finished your stage makeup. “True,” you agreed.
Fifteen minutes later, Din popped his head into the room. He had on a loose t-shirt and sweats, but you figured he had his shorts on underneath. You noticed a few people waved at him and he nodded in response. He caught your eye in the mirror and motioned for you to join him in the hall.
You looked at Adrian. “See you in a bit.”
He smiled and shoved your shoulder lightly. “Get out of here.”
You laughed and joined Din in the doorway. He smiled and led you to the right and around the corner, and you realized where you were going. There was a tiny dressing room with no mirror that no one ever used, except for taking naps – it had a somewhat comfortable loveseat.
As you entered, you realized no one was in there but Din’s bag was on the couch. “Is this where you’ve been getting ready?” The room was so small that the two of you basically filled it.
He nodded, a bit sheepish. “I just drop by the other room to use the mirror.”
You smiled. “If I’d known I’d have come and claimed the couch,” you teased.
He ducked his head and smiled. “You’re always welcome.”
You moved over to the couch and sat down. “So, what’s up?”
Din leaned against the folding table that ran the length of the wall by the door. “Could you help me with the body paint? I think some of it wore off in the back.”
“Sure,” you said, moving to get up, but he waved you back down.
“Not yet. We’ve got a few minutes and it’s too cold to be basically naked in here already.”
You laughed. “True. But we want it to dry, right?”
He sighed. “Alright. Ok, come here.” His hands moved to the hem of his shirt and he tugged it gingerly over his head. You realized he was avoiding the paint. It was dry, though, and looked fine.
“Where’s the problem? The front looks fine.” Your eyes traveled over the swirls on his torso and you smiled, lightly. When you met his eyes he was smirking again.
“Should I take off my pants, too?” His eyes were almost sparkling as he teased you.
You gasped, just for show. “Din! What are you insinuating, hmm?” You stepped up next to him and took a closer look at the paint, looking for any spots that had rubbed off.
As soon as you were close enough, he grabbed your hips and pulled you forward between his open knees on the table. You flailed a bit as you looked for somewhere to rest your hands, eventually settling on his forearms. You didn’t want to mess up the paint, which was mostly on his torso and biceps.
Once you were steady, he leaned forward, far enough that his lips were almost touching your ear. “I saw you check me out, you know. Last week.” His voice was deep, and you shivered again. He pulled back and grinned.
“Din Djarin, you tease.”
He squeezed your hips and shook his head. “It’s not a tease, sweetheart. I checked you out, too.” He cleared his throat and looked down. “Not for the first time.”
You smiled. “Adrian said we were both watching each other in class, all the time.”
Din laughed. “I don’t know how you didn’t see me. It felt like I never looked at anything else.”
You felt your face heat. “Ok. Enough of that. We have a performance,” you poked him in the side and laughed when he tried to dodge, “get your head in the game.” He smiled and squeezed your hips again. “Now let me see your back.”
You moved back as he stood so he could turn in front of you. For a moment you simply looked – your eyes danced over his broad shoulders and then down his spine. You wanted to reach out and touch, to trace the lines of his muscles and curve of his waist with your fingertips. He was so strong.
You shook your head. The paint. You frowned as you looked for any breaks in the paint. “Din, it looks fine. I don’t see any spots where you need a touch up.”
When he turned back to face you, his expression was suspiciously blank. “Oh? Well, maybe I was wrong, then.”
You narrowed your eyes at him. “Din Djarin, did you have ulterior motives when you brought me in here?”
He smirked again and shook his head. “No, you know we’re saving those for later. I just…” he sighed. “I’d rather wait with you than alone.”
You rolled your eyes at him, but smiled. “You could have just said that.”
He shrugged. “There could have been some spots to touch up. You never know.”
You laughed and tugged him over to the couch. He sat sideways so as not to actually rub off any of his paint, and you sank into the corner. “How much time do you think we have?”
“Probably about ten minutes.” The first movement was after Vince’s piece, which opened the show. You needed to be backstage when it started. Then the second movement was between Talia’s and Jee’s, and the third finished the show.
You reached for his hand and laced your fingers together. It wasn’t out of the ordinary to get comfortable touching your pas de deux partner before a performance, but you knew this felt different, for both of you. “Want to go warm up?” He nodded. “Alright. Meet me backstage? I have to go do my pre-show thing with Adrian.”
Din raised an eyebrow, and you realized he’d never seen your “thing”, as you called it. “Or you can come and watch, if you want. We just have a silly handshake and then we hug.”
It turned out that he did want to watch, and he followed you back to your dressing room after stripping off his sweatpants. You allowed yourself to ogle his legs briefly before leading him out of the room. “Do you have any show rituals?”
Din shrugged. “Not really. I usually do the same stretches and warm up.” He thought about it for a moment. “Grogu says I have a lucky shirt. It’s in my bag.”
You laughed. You realized, as you grabbed Adrian and started your ritual handshake, that you felt more at ease, more comfortable than you usually did before a performance.
It must be because of Din, you figured. It was hard to be nervous when you knew he’d be there with you for every step. Adrian hugged you, and you squeezed him until he made an “oof” sound.
“Ok, ok, let me go. Don’t squeeze me to death.” You laughed at his grumbling as Adrian pulled back to check his costume in the mirror. “Go do your thing, I’ll see you backstage later.”
You pulled off your sweats and left them at your spot. You grabbed your pointe shoes and turned to face Din, who was looking at you. Well, he was looking at your legs. You grinned.
“Come on,” you said, grabbing his arm. As you passed him, you murmured, “who’s checking who out now, hmm?”
Din followed you out, and once in the hall, he said, smirking, “I already confessed.”
You made your way backstage together and found a spot where you could warm up in the large area behind the wings. You put on your shoes and began to help each other stretch.
Kuiil found you there a few minutes later, and he smiled down at you both. “Are you ready?”
You both nodded, but Din said, “we are.” His voice was firm and warm and it made you smile.
Kuiil nodded. “Yes, you are. Excellent. I will be in the audience. I wish to see it as I meant others to see it. I will see you soon.” He reached down and rested a hand on each of your shoulders. “Remember. Be in the moment, and be there for each other.”
WIth that, he turned and made his way down the hall and, you presumed, out to the audience. You felt warmed from his clear pride and belief in the two of you together.
As you finished stretching, you heard the audience settle down, and you figured the house lights had just gone down. Your guess was confirmed when you heard Karga’s voice welcoming everyone to the gala.
“Good evening,” he began, and you could picture the wide smile on his face. “Thank you for celebrating our 5th anniversary with us. We are so pleased to have you here.” The crowd applauded, and Karga chuckled. “Yes, thank you. We have a wonderful program planned for you tonight, with pieces that feature the best of what our amazing dancers can do. All of our choreographers – Vince, Talia, Jee, and our visiting choreographer in residence, Kuiil – have prepared new, never before seen pieces for you just for this gala.” The audience applauded again. “We are so grateful for your patronage, and we hope you enjoyed this season. Please, sit back and enjoy the visual feast we have prepared – and don’t forget about the free refreshments during intermission!" That got a light chuckle from the audience. “Thank you.”
The crowd applauded once more, and you assumed Karga was walking off stage. You heard the curtains open and nudged Din. You tilted your head towards the wings, silently asking if he wanted to go watch the quartet. He shook his head and motioned for you to stand with him. He leaned in and murmured, “I’d rather warm up a bit more with you.”
You’d seen the quartet in dress rehearsal, and it really was beautiful. It was funny to think that it had been your original role in this program. You nodded and joined him in some light jumps and lunges, and then spent a few minutes warming up your ankles.
You heard the quartet’s music begin to build towards its crescendo. Before you could turn to head backstage, Din grabbed your arm and reeled you in. He placed his hands at your waist and you let yours rest lightly on his forearms again. He leaned in and rested his forehead lightly against yours.
“You’re going to blow them away,” he murmured, and you felt that familiar feeling that he inspired start to well up in you. “Ready?”
You nodded. “You too, Din. Show them who you are.”
He pulled back and smiled at you. As you turned, you slid your hand down his arm and tangled your hands together. You walked backstage hand-in-hand.
The quartet was just finishing up when you found a place to stand together, out of the way of their exit. You caught Phil’s eye where he stood with his headset on by the tiny backstage lamp, and he nodded at you. You tugged on Din’s hand. “Here we go.”
He nodded at you and released your hand. You would go out first on your own, and then Din, and then you would be on stage together. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. Just before you stepped forward, you heard Din murmur, “beautiful.”
You stepped into the wings with a smile playing around your mouth. And then the music started, and all you thought about was the dance.
…
You’d never felt like this before. You’d never danced like this before.
From the moment you stepped onto the stage, you could feel it – you were going to nail it. And you did.
You whirled through your solo, and leapt off the stage just in time for Din to enter after you. You watched him and you could see it – he felt it, too. You grinned, and then forced it off your face. He was a stranger, and you were meeting for the first time.
You spun back onto the stage at your cue and you felt his eyes trace across your shoulders like a caress. The two of you danced past each other, circled each other, glanced off of each other, just barely not touching. The connection between you pulled taut and you swore you could see where he was on stage even when you weren’t looking at him.
It would have stolen your breath away, if you had let it – you’d never felt so in sync with another dancer before.
The first movement ended with the two of you touching, briefly, and then dancing away from each other. As you were about to exit into the wings, you looked back, and caught him already looking at you. You both froze, and then darted off stage.
The audience burst into applause. You grinned at the dancers waiting backstage for Talia’s ballet, and they met you with silent cheers and pats on the shoulder as you passed.
You headed straight for the door to the backstage area, looking for Din.
He must have had the same idea, because as you turned into the hall that ran behind the stage, you found him almost jogging towards you, smiling wider than you’d ever seen him.
“You and me,” he said, breathlessly, and you nodded.
…
You had to wait through two longer pieces for the second movement, which would be between Talia and Vince’s collaboration piece and Jee’s. Wary of getting too cold, you returned to Din’s small dressing room, grabbing your sweats on the way. You didn’t want to break the bubble you could feel forming around the two of you.
Din pulled you into the room behind him and then into a loose hug. “I want to hold you tighter,” he murmured, “but this paint.”
You laughed. “It’s probably for the best.” He hummed. “Ok. We can rest for a minute, and then we need to get ready for the second. And go stay warm.” He nodded.
“You were beautiful.” His voice sounded deeper than normal and you shivered in his arms.
“So were you, Din.”
…
There was a barre set up backstage for warming up, and the two of you stayed there as you waited. You watched as the dancers heading backstage moved around you for Talia’s piece and then Talia and Vince’s collaboration, but you and Din stayed in your own little world. That wasn’t unusual, for a piece like yours. You practiced a couple of lifts just to have something to do.
You were ready.
With only a few minutes to go, Din leaned into you again. “Ready?”
You nodded. He grabbed your hand, this time, and led you backstage.
The piece Talia and Vince had collaborated on was almost over – it had three couples, a mix of principals and soloists, and you let yourself watch them for a few moments. When it was almost time, Din tugged you in again, foreheads together.
“Let’s blow them away,” you said, stealing his words from earlier. He smiled.
For the second movement, you started on stage, so you stepped away from Din to go take your place when the lights went down. Alone on stage, in the dark, you took a deep breath. As the music started, you stretched into position, and sank into your character.
You felt Din’s presence when he leapt on stage, and from there, the chase was on.
In the second movement, you circled each other, sometimes coming closer, sometimes moving farther away. Glancing touches brought you together and then hesitation drove you apart. You wanted to know each other, to understand each other, but you had to find a way to communicate. To make yourselves understood.
You began to mirror each other’s movements, to adopt each other’s styles. You found common ground between you to build on and with the first lift so firmly grounded, it felt like you flew into the air. Din held you aloft and then flipped you downwards, catching you in another hold. You spun away and felt him follow you, and the connection between you strengthened.
Just like the first movement, you could barely think, could only feel – and it felt amazing. You knew, distantly, that you and Din were performing at a level neither of you had managed alone. You had created something new, something that could only exist because you made it together.
The second ended with you and Din briefly together, and then your character shied away – you ran from him, twirling off stage without looking back. He reached for you just before the lights went down.
The audience erupted. You were grinning so wide your cheeks hurt. Adrian was backstage, ready for Jee’s piece, and he looked like he wanted to run over and hug you. But just then Din came through the wings behind you and you felt his arms circle your waist.
He didn’t pull you too close (the paint) but he leaned forward to breathe into your ear, “so fucking beautiful.”
You shivered, and Adrian winked at you. You laughed and tugged Din behind you into the hall.
You didn’t have as long of a break this time, only the length of Jee’s piece, which was only about 25 minutes. You knew you didn’t really have time to go far.
As you entered the hall, Din grabbed your hand, and made a sharp right. Just around the corner out of sight he backed you against the wall.
He leaned on the wall with his forearm by your head. For a moment neither of you said anything – you were both breathing hard, chests almost touching every time you took a breath. His eyes caught yours and you couldn’t look away.
“I’ve never…” he trailed off, and you nodded. You understood.
“Me neither,” you breathed, and his eyes darted down to look at your lips. The feeling that had built inside of you during the performance turned into fire.
“Din–” you started, but he cut you off by pressing his lips to yours in a searing kiss. He pulled away almost as quickly.
“I know,” he said, “I know.” He leaned back, and looked at you again. “I never dreamed it could be like this. I think I was meant to dance with you.”
You were glad you were already leaning against the wall, because your knees threatened to give out at his words. “Me too,” you said. His hand came up to cup your cheek lightly, careful of your makeup.
“Come on,” he said, “let’s get ready for the third.”
You nodded and let him lead you back down the hall.
…
You thought you’d be nervous, as you stood in the wings before the third movement. You’d gone backstage a little bit earlier than before to watch Adrian, but it wasn’t distracting you.
But that might have had something to do with Din’s presence at your back and his hand tangled with yours.
You breathed together as you watched and sank back into your characters. In the third, you were almost always touching – almost always chasing or being chased, grabbing or holding on. The movements revolved around your need to be together and create something new together.
As Jee’s piece came to a close, you felt Din step closer. He kept hold of your hand but wrapped his other arm around your shoulders from the back. “One more,” he murmured in your ear. “Let’s show them who we are.” You smiled and nodded. He squeezed your hand.
In the third, you started off stage. In the wings you both took a deep breath, and then the music started. You darted on quickly with Din at your heels, and from there you were off.
He chased you across the stage, and you let him catch you on the other side. You twirled around each other, leaping together, pulling each other along. He supported you through turns and lifts and jumps and you let yourself sink into the music. You internally marveled at how you seemed to be two dancers with one brain – you would reach for him, and he would be there, every time.
When you reached the pique turn, a smile played around your mouth. Din tugged you backwards by your ankle, capturing you and lifting you into a spin. Your body moved through the familiar steps, and when it came time to launch yourself through the air so he could catch you, you fought a grin off your face.
He lifted you over his shoulder, and let yourself appreciate, just for a moment, the strength of the muscles in his back.
Din tilted you back up and let you slide down against his chest. You sank into it with ease, and the two of you let the moment linger. You met his gaze and saw the smile dancing behind his eyes.
From there the choreography built to a crescendo that had you breathing hard, coordinating your movements perfectly to stay in contact – your hand on his leg, his arm around his waist, your arm around his neck, his shoulders supporting you. It pushed you upward and forward until, suddenly, you stopped, facing each other. You breathed as the last note held, staring into each other’s eyes, and then slowly folded into an embrace that took you both to your knees.
The lights went out, and for a moment you couldn’t make sense of the sound that washed over you. You looked up at Din, and then out to the audience. It seemed like everyone in the theater had taken to their feet, cheering and applauding.
The rest of the company was backstage cheering, too.
Din leaned backwards and stood, offering his hand to pull you up, too. You took it, and he tugged you forward so that you had to lean into him just a bit. He looked like he wanted to say something, but then the lights came up.
You both turned to the audience, bodies moving into the familiar stance, ready to take your bows. But you were both taken aback when somehow the applause got louder.
You glanced at Din, but he swept you forward, and before you could stop him, presented you to the audience.
You smiled, and when it was his turn, did the same for him.
As soon as you were done, the rest of the company poured out of the wings to join you on stage, and the standing ovation seemed to go on forever. Adrian popped out of the crowd at your side and wrapped you both up in a hug, which startled Din and made you laugh. “That was fucking amazing!” he shouted in your ear, and you laughed. Din started to smile, too, and you squeezed his hand, still tangled with yours between you.
You looked at him as the company moved to take a final bow together, and for a moment, you couldn’t hear the noise around you at all.
You could only see Din, smiling at you, so widely his eyes crinkled.
Beautiful.

📺 a Feb 15th morning double-sided Sawyer Study piece, the sequel to a previous post! maybe this will become a series, who knows.
Dr Dingus has arrives, as foretold! and Yarnaby!! first time drawing Yarnaby how we feeling chat. i also read his wiki a little before this one, so there’s some sorta-lore unless i remembered it wrong. also this post’s text was written in various scenerios so the wording might be jank. that’s ok though. enjoy! 🫶
i like to think this was doctor during the adjustment time following his robot transformation. later on after everyone died, his ego and confidence probably ballooned without the constant nitpicking the other scientists gave him. poor guy. i hope he dies too <3 (he’s so toxic like jesus christ)

anyways, a collage of caricatures!! i love doodle pages that look like a chaotic collage, especially in a sketchy style when working with pen. i did sooo much art of Dr. Dingus on Feb 15, but i couldn’t post it because tumblr wasn’t cooperating :[. oh well. expect a bombardment. on second thought this is now a series💥💥💥💥

and yes you read double-sided right!! *throws him at your face again*
i actually drew this one before the doodle collage, but i like the doodles being presented first ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. so the idea of doctor walking yarnaby originated here and was expanded on later
i was sketching out my interp of doctor’s design after a break since the last Sawyer Study, and it really helped me figure out how to draw him; what i remembered and what could be drawn differently. the doodle collage afterward helped even more! character design, especially funky character design, is very cool 2 me B]

(if this was already asked im so sorry! i cant with tumblrs search thingy) hii!!! i havent drawn in ""my style"" in years, but your art has inspired me to try again. do you have any tips on how to develop it and become more consistent? much love and thanks <3333
hello !!! dw i don't think this has been asked beforee so ur good :3
imo you can't really brute force developing your own style. i think it slowly develops over time the more media you consume and get inspired by ! (i mean, i'm still trying to find my style so yk,,)
in my case, i tend to gravitate towards more semi-realistic styles, so i would need to develop my fundamentals (gestures, anatomy, line of action, etc, etc..) first as a base point. i would say learning your fundamentals is important even if you want your style to be super cartoony bc it really does help when it comes to deciding which parts you want to exaggerate and stylize and stuff. (it may be boring for some people but i promise u it rlly does help a lot !!!)
btw ur anatomy doesn't have to be perfect on the get go when u want to try stylizing 😭 shit even my anatomy was p bad before i started drawing in my 'style' so dont be discouraged !
@/atie1225 @/jasminjaegerart @/quietgom @/AmiThompson_h
ok when it comes to stylizing what i find helpful is copying certain aspects of an art style i like. ur not stealing their whole thing btw !! but u should try to analyze what parts of someone's style that you like !
like for example, i like how Alfons Mucha does hair, so i implement it in how i draw. i remember i liked how Ken Wakui does noses bc its simple enough, so that's what i currently do, i liked the nose bridge lines thing from mha and jjba so i added it to my drawings, and so on and so forth
obv these arent all my influences, there's probably thousands of artists i like, shows i've watched, comics and manga i've read that influenced me etc etc and our art styles are just a mish mash of all of that ! it's actually super cool to see how different people draw depending on what influenced them so ykkk
as for consistency don't be afraid to use your own art as references ! shit even i have a couple of my drawings in my inspo board because of how much i like them and sometimes i would look over and try to remember how i did those LMFAO
but idkkk i don't think you have to strictly adhere to your style. imo experimenting is good and seeing how it changes over time is super cool ! so you shouldn't stress urself out about that :3 eventually you'll develop the habit of sticking to your style, it just takes a bit of time !!
i think that's all, i hope this helps :3
heres the drawing by itself bc i kinda like it
#im so glad my stuff has somehow inspired you wahgghhhhuhuhuhuhu.............#i wish u the best of luck !!!! and as always this is not all gospel do whatever seems right to you !#franswers#shitty art advice (dont listen to them)

THANK YOU!!!! I’ve been looking for ages. I need smthg ✨nice✨ to rest my crackly wrists on 😂😂😂😂
HELLO WERE YOU THE PERSON WHO MADE THE DOC OCK MOUSEPAD??? I feel like it was your art style that I’m remembering from like a year ago??? Two years ago?? What is time?
Anyway do you know what I’m talking about bc I actually have money now (and worse wrists) and I can’t find it ANYWHERE
Nooo that wasn't me :0 but I know the exact thing you're talking about, at least I think- I did find the artist who created it after some digging! But sadly I don't think they're selling it any longer, could contact them yourself and ask though: https://twitter.com/wolfsweetjune/status/1503164307948793857?lang=en
#please note that I thought that you made it bc your art is magnificent and you’re always the first Doc Ock artist I think of when I think#semi-realism and I have some of your art in my photo gallery just for the serotonin (hope that’s ok? idk what’s stealing sometimes. I promis#I’m not reposting it or anything. I just love looking at 1. Doc Ock. but also studying your art style and colors and being a general art#nerd at the same time. lmk if you want me to delete my saves tho bc I respect artists’ wishes on that!!!)#anyway you’re really cool and thanks for the Doc Ock assist😁

Not so much of an ask as a "thank you" for all of your amazing art and also for "A Novel Experience"! DU Drow is my favorite "someone else's tav" of all time, and it's because of how much you've brought him to life in your art and writing. He might as well be canon at this point. And, he's definitely one (besides my tav, of course...ha) that I really trust to take good care of that darling vampire. He's so great! Having said that, I just wanted to pass on that I've had a little project of making playlists for the BG3 companions (and a few special npc's) of songs I associate with that character for whatever reason. I've lately been inspired to add one for DU Drow! (hope that's ok...if not, please let me know) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFYJvBUBuyR_ZjR8uHLPsZl-LjeD9pV5q&si=7ZU1L0J1ODtjb5VJ Anyway, thanks again, and keep up with your hugely inspiring work!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THIS IS SO COOL AND YOUR MUSICAL SELECTION IS SUPERB 😭😭😭 World coming down is actually a track I heavily associate with DU drow myself!!! I hope you don't mind me sharing this ask publicly so others can check it out as well.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND FOR THINKING SO FONDLY OF MY HULKING WEIRDO ❤️

Hi! I am sorry to bother you. I just wanted to thank you for the amazing art and everything you do. I've been crying horribly and smiling a lot over your comics, because to me they are not just drawings, they are real, and they tell about tangible emotions we often try to push down for the sake of living "normally". And I thank you so much for helping bring them back to the surface, even if it hurts. That's what purest art is, making us feel and remind us we aren't machines and it's ok to cry. Sorry, I hope I wasn't weird... But on top of that, your storytelling is immaculate, your colouring is perfect, and I admire your skills so much! I would love to send you so many hugs. But there is a fun part to this message, I swear! I couldn't help but notice how my Kall and yours have a lot of unfortunate traits in common. So I decided they should have a nice, long and recharging spa day where they can finally take time off for themselves. Also, I picked a spa that, instead of relaxing music, plays positive messages. I think they might need it.

Thank you again for everything. I wish you the best💙
I JUST woke up and had to run laps around my house before I could come back and formulate my thoughts on this. I'm having trouble writing words today so I hope any of this makes sense:
This wasn't weird or bothersome, don't worry!! Honestly this is an awesome ask to get, the absolute highest praise I could receive is hearing that I made someone laugh or cry or contemplate something that happened to them irl. Specifically your line about my comics bringing feelings to the surface means a lot to me, a lot of my stories tend to be about like....putting on a mask, so to speak? Being someone in a position that forces you to be calm and composed while everything is crashing and burning? Literally am working on a lamb + shamura comic about that EXACT topic rn, so I'm happy to hear that something I made could make you feel like it was okay to not have to stuff those emotions down, even if it's hard to let them surface.
YOUR DRAWING IS SO CUTE BTW IT'S MAKING ME FERAL. I'm so happy for those two tbh, just hanging out having a good time and drinking cocktails out of coconuts while internalizing positive affirmations...no angst in sight, just vibes. I recall when you posted your giant fucking epic picture of the 20+ kallamars, I kept going back to look at it and was like "this is so cool, I wish I came back from hiatus sooner so I could've offered my squid for the anatomy lesson". But this drawing is really special to me tbh I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING, this was an absolute delight to wake up to. I was REALLY going through it last night and was trying to draw something of specifically kallamar, but was failing miserably and gave up, so this is really sweet to see. Thank you so much for this ask, I really appreciate hearing your thoughts and seeing your wonderful art!!! I'm gonna be looking at this on and off because it gave me a well needed smile...kallamar FINALLY got the day off they wanted so bad in that one comic I made :')
(also, I shan't reveal the details because I still have a lot of work to do on it, but I may have been working on something shamura related that maybe includes your spider as well. But you didn't hear it from me)
#EVERYBODY LOOK#kallamar#cult of the lamb#THE CUCUMBERS ARE TAKING ME OUT I always wanted to see what it felt like to do the spa cucumber eye thing

OK FIRST OF ALL HOW DARE YOU??! We got baby Orion, look at that bean, so small and cute, but at what cost? The cost of our hearts being shattered….
Now the dramatics are over! The Megatronus doll?! I can hear d-16 seething in jealousy somewhere lmao.
Please tell me I’m not seeing things and Prima pulled out a weapon when he heard the door open?! Ready to defend but not when it was needed most because sentinel is a little bitch.
ZETA BEING ORIONS FAVE?! (It’s so cool you included that because it is part of canon, it’s in the movie novelisation if anyone is curious)
It’s so much more tragic with that piece of info, the way you drew Orion feeling like he’s lost something and having to be snapped out of it 😭 I love your art so much.
It does raise a question though, how old is Orion? Did he age slower or did sentinel do something to was with his ageing?
baby prime orion au
AKJSHDKAHDA THANK YOU I'M GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT!!! and that it seemed to hit the way i wanted it to! it is my mission with this au to make it unbearably cute and painful as fuck <33
that doll... i have plans for that doll.... no spoilers but it will come back...
AND YES THANK YOU FOR NOTICING THAT!! you're the first person i see that points out Prima's reaction to hearing someone come in! he's a little (a lot) overprotective of OP and he's always on guard even when they're deep in the tower where no one but their siblings and some trusted members of the High Guard are allowed to enter. he's also lowkey training OP to keep quiet when he hears someone come into his room and to be cautious of strangers. he doesn't want his baby brother to be scared of the world but he just... wants to keep him safe at all costs. most of the primes think he's being a little paranoid but he Does Not Care. once OP is older and can take care of himself they can talk about his anxiety but until then he's sticking to his guns.
and fun fact! when Sentinel sent his trackers to take custody of Optimus during his coup, it took them just long enough to search his rooms for him to allow the High Guard to send reinforcements and take him away. so. anxiety for the win babeeey⁓
and yeah zeta being OP's favorite is directly taken from the novel! in my mind Prima is OP's primary caretaker with everyone else taking turns to switch out with him, but Zeta being the matrix holder doesn't get the chance to do it as often as everyone else. so him dropping by is a special occasion! and because he doesn't want to ruin the little time he gets with his baby brother with anything, he lowkey spoils Optimus the most. so it's a mix of novelty and over-indulgence that gives him the edge over everyone else 🤭
AND YEAH THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING FOR! in this au OP is looking for the matrix for the good of everyone, he does believe bringing it back is the best thing for their society but deep down he also hopes it will fix the gaping wound in his spark he's been nursing his entire life. and when he sees Zeta Prime's lifeless body he knows the matrix being missing from it should be the thing he should focus on but... it's really not. and he doesn't understand why.
and orion's age is... something i kinda hoped no one would remember to ask about (/▽\)
jk but for real he's about 52 cycles old. he's definitely older than the rest of the squad for at least a decade! buuuuut as a prime he also does age slower than them. this one is not on sentinel, it's just a him/prime thing. a small part of dee's frustration with orion in this au is because he's under the impression that they're more or less the same age but orion acts much more immaturely than he should, but this is kinda because orion literally doesn't mature at the same rate than he does.
it's not by much but the difference is there and they can feel it even if they don't understand it.
i have a chart in case anyone cares about it akjsdhkja
not my best work but it'll do for now.
so basically OP's mental development is one year for every 2.5 cycles while everyone else's is one per every 1.5. he and dee met when OP was 36 cycles old and Dee was 24 which was the exact moment where their mental development was almost equal, which made them hit off pretty well! but after that it was just a matter of time before dee started leaving Orion behind.
again, it isn't by much but the difference exists and is just one more straw to break the camel's back.
also the poor high guard that stayed behind to keep an eye on Orion was working overtime trying to keep people from wondering why this particular sparkling was growing up so slowly. they faked a bunch of records for him and officially speaking Orion is 47 cycles old, when he's actually 52, but even that only gave them a very limited amount of time before everyone started noticing that Orion was kinda little for his age.
they also did their damn best to keep Orion from entering the mines at the age he was supposed to because there was no fucking way they were letting the equivalent of 12 year old go in there.
they did so much crime and falsification you guys.
as it is OP was still mentally younger than everyone else when they went in, but officially he was almost 5 years older than he should've been. it was the best they could do.
so... yeah!
thank you for asking because i had been postponing doing this for weeks now xD
#hey i got an ask#Anonymous#transformers#optimus prime#baby prime orion au#THIS WAS SO NICE. THANK YOU SO MUCH I'M GONNA CRY 〒▽〒#i adore when people leave their thoughts in the tags and getting this ask made my entire week!! thank you so much!!!!#hope this was worth the wait!#and thank you for getting the brainworms working (/▽\)(/▽\)#tf one

I caught myself staring at your stop-motion art again and I'm curious about some parts of your process because this whole medium is fascinating and really impressive! And I think you're neat!
How do you plan out your animations? Is there storyboarding? (Especially for something like your TSunderswap amv that has a lot of shots, and some longer ones!) I also love seeing how you ease in and out of movements, do you just do those by feel? Crazy if true
I think I remember hearing that your puppets have a wire skeleton underneath the felt tops. Does that wire ever get brittle or harder to work with after bending them so much?
Would you ever try making puppets from different materials? 👀 Mostly because I think a mimirobo claymation would be news of the century
Auughhh my goooshh THANK YOU!! I think YOU'RE neat!!? I love your art!! It's so GOOOOOD!! So this means a lot!! :DDD Stop motion IS really impressive!! And I'm glad you also find it so interesting!! If done right I think it's one of the best mediums when it comes to storytelling, you can show so much with so little. And there's something so... Touching? Personal? I'm not sure what but you can really feel something in it...
Ok, to the questions!! Most of the time I don't really plan it out, I have a rough idea on what I want to happen and that's it. Straight to the animation table! I usually get carried away as well, keep animating more to it and add different things going on. Sometimes I play it out, just get up and act what I want to happen, it helps sometimes, I know what would feel more natural or better. (It mostly makes me look crazy tho XD)
Yes!! The TS!US had storyboarding!! Not sure if you could call it that... Mostly just a messy comic thingy which I made while listening to the music I wanted to use and imagining scenes for it!!

I lost the paper a while ago, but here are some pictures!! You can probably recognise a few scenes, most didn't make the final cut unfortunately :(
I'll definitely keep doing storyboarding for longer videos like this, keeps me more organised and I actually know what scenes I need to do. (Also I can skip a few scenes and then come back and do them later! Power of post production!!)
And yes! I do easing in and out a LOT! One of my favourite parts to do when I'm animating actually. I'm glad you like it!! And again, yes, it's all done by feel XD
Yeah the puppets all have a wire skeleton sort of frame underneath. The wires haven't been a problem really, AND I HOPE THEY NEVER WILL. Maybe they're just not old enough yet? Or I haven't used them enough for it to start to be an issue? The only real problem is that the arms sometimes fall off, the wire slips out of its place!! Which is annoying... But I have changed wires before, so it's not a very hard fix if it does become a problem!
OH PUPPETS FROM DIFFERENT MATERIALS!!? That'd be so cool!! Apart from this I've only worked with LEGO, whiteboard animation and some random objects. So CLAYMATION sounds epic!! I actually even did something really quickly!!
Here's a lil lizard guy, not exactly from clay, but close enough! :D
Wanted to try out what it'd look like... I really like it!! His tail kept falling off tho XD But I think doing stop some motion with clay would be awesome!! Thanks for the idea!!
#answered ask#nice person#stop motion#long post#news of the century huh#XD thx!#i THINK this is my first “claymation”?#the lizard isn't out of clay and is nearly a year old#THANK YOU FOR THE ASKS AND KIND WORDS!!#so happy someone as cool as YOU likes my stuff!!#stay awesome!!#:D

hey so, was SKIP! ever on American TV? and if so, how?????? cuz I am 100% sure that I watched SKIP! on the TV when I was younger, like, an actual child kinda younger. it was like PBS or something showing student animations I guess?? and I was so enamored with it, I was desperately upset that I had no idea where I'd be able to find it again because I didn't know what it was called. and then later on I just happened to read tpoh (cuz i love webcomics) and there it was. right beside everything else. do you have any idea how crazy that is. It was like finding a long lost friend! Anyway that was years ago but I just wanted you to know that, since I don't think I've told you before but I've been following you for years.
Also your doodleduck comics are REALLY GOOD and are my single entry point into that kind of older-ducktales stuff. (also this is kind of random but I think your comic about gladstone and white guilt is one of the better works of art I've seen on that subject matter which I find very impressive)(source: I am black lol) OH AND HOW COULD I FORGET!! The princess and the jester is, like, phenomenally well made both visually and with its writing. It literally gives me CHILLS to read it. Frankly everything you make is so gorgeous, I kind of want to be like you. In the back of my mind when I'm like "what kind of artist do I wanna be?" your little checkered blog icon always pops up eventually haha. ok bye!!
;A;
damn this whole message means a lot to me, and yes! for a short time VFS was airing on a tv channel, I forget which but that was very cool and they gave me 500 dollar bucks which was a huge windfall for impoverished student mod :D :D :D it means so much to me that you like my work and found me again, and that particular duck comic was so scary for me to make but I've had so many wonderfully supportive messages from people like yourself that I'm really glad I stuck to my guns and listened to it. that was another 'seized from beyond by something bigger than myself' story moment... I'm glad it paid off and I hope I can continue to make things that scare me shitless but do some good in the world.

AHHH i could not wait to post this until tomorrow, i am so hyped about their designs, i demand that you look at them now !! :33
ok a lil bit of rambling:
- first off, yes i forgot the lamb & goat’s crowns. i was gonna to go back to add them, but i found out a bit too late that resizing your canvas can completely ruin your line art so. :)) if i were to add them now they would look weird & out of place. ;—;
- ok anyway, let’s start with the cat boys. so they look a bit like little ninjas, which wasn’t my intention but i’m not mad about it, it kinda fits lol. i didn’t want their clothes to be too complicated since their robes are already pretty detailed, & i feel like they would prioritize comfort & mobility over appearance. otherwise, i didn’t really change much about their robes or physical features. :v
- now lamb’s design; i love it so much eee. :33c so i want their & narinder’s designs to be kinda similar, cuz of course you gotta have matching outfits with the god that you serve, like c’mon. the main similarities are the lil cloth around their not-pants(?), & then i changed the lamb’s shirt to be the same cold shoulder top that narinder has, with a sick ass corset to go with it. i wasn’t vibing with the poncho anymore. :P i also added shin pads of some sort? i think those look cool too. & then i added some little earrings cuz i am a sucker for piercings hehe.
- finally, goat’s design!! i think their design is my favourite so far. i’ve noticed i seem to really love character designs with the gold/purple colour combo.. *glances over at fnaf* >.> anywayyy.. it’s kinda hard to see if you aren’t zoomed in, but i just *had* to give them a septum piercing & a notched eyebrow, it felt absolutely essential. then they have lil gauntlet things (similar to the lamb’s shin pad things) & some funky pants with a lil cloth. also, in my head, lamb doesn’t care much for pants, & the goat doesn’t care much for shirts. why? who knows lmao. it just makes sense to me. & final note: YES THEY HAVE LIL FANGS, NO I DO NOT CARE IF ITS ANATOMICALLY CORRECT !!! I THINK IT LOOKS COOL & THATS ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME !!!
anyway.. i hope you like them. pls like them. ówò 👉👈

how do you come up with such creative names and designs? once ive made over 200 ocs its hard to try and find names for new ones that dont seem repetitive or overlap too much with canon names ... love ur art sm you truly inspire me ! you are kinda the reason ive got all my little feral cat ocs !! thank u for sharing ur art and ideas !
wow!!! thank you!!! i'm so glad you have so many funny guys!!! for names, i try to create names that 1) sound funny (eggfluff, fishweed, firfur, spikypike, etc) 2) have a prefix and suffix that either rhyme or sound similar (... firfur, spikypike, calamusmoon, skinkslither, squirrelslug, tangerinetwig) or 3) use words that you wouldn't see in canon/are really unusual! (virevalley, coyotegame, sphagnumstar, boreweb, martenwink, doverstick, bellweather, stellarsspeckling, basiliskhaze, lindwormstar, etc!). truthfully it's just about coming up with weird words! i also love to reference warrior cats name generators (here's mine). i try to avoid words overused in canon, -stripe, -heart, -claw, -tail unless the prefix is something really cool. a rule i tend to abide by is if i have a really cool/really long prefix or suffix, the other half of the name needs to be really simple! (lambsearleaf, ponderinglight, shepherdbelly, tangerinetwig). however at the same time, i do break this rule, mostly if i'm using one of the three points i mentioned above (chimingchaffinch, steppingsquirrel, etc). try to think of really weird words! i like using words which end in -ing or -ed or even a plural s! (stellarSspeckling, martyrSomen). lately i've also enjoyed translating cat's names into other languages! (aimaorasi, korakifovia, heidelandkit, kasanagon'silo, langitlap-ok). for designs, a lot of it is just... designing nonstop for ~~~4 years.... you get good at it eventually.... well there are some pieces of advice i can give! 1) trying your goddamn hardest to avoid same face syndrome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! giving your characters different faces is a really good tactic to making them look cool, especially if you give them really unique features! (differently shaped nose leather, nose ridges, chins, head shape, ear shape, weird shaped eyes, funny eyebrows, etc). something else that i make note of is you should also try to avoid giving your characters the same Body and Anatomy! make some really wide & fat or thin with long noses and tails. short legs with a long body, a completely unnatural and un-cat-like build! even if it isn't "realistic", making your cats look weird will make their designs even better! 2) this is something i'm very specific about but: place markings with purpose! markings should wrap around the body where there are curves and such. i try to make marking sizes, placement, and style cohesive throughout the design, unless i have a specific reason to go against it. i don't place markings willy nilly, like some may think to do for pelts like tortoiseshells. unless you have a really detailed style, try to keep small teeny markings to a minimum. 3) have fun with weird body traits or accessories! recently i've been liking giving cats really weirdly shaped ears and giving them funny markings inside of their ear leather. fur can help with this. i love giving cats weird accessories and scars too! i think it helps my designs that i change my artstyle so often. difference in artstyle for me also means difference in how i draw pelt markings. i have a really big tutorial about how i think about designing here! i hope this helps? maybe?
