i won't give up
if i may be sappy for a moment... 2024 has become one of the best years of my life completely unexpectedly, and i owe so much of that to dan and phil. i'm not the type of person who makes spontaneous decisions even if i know they would make me happy or improve my life, but something made me impulsively buy a ticket to tit and that decision was life changing. it opened up a whole world of possibilities for me; if i can drop everything and travel hours by myself via train to go see a fun show, what else can i do with my life? why have i spent so many years trapped in a fog of apathy, afraid of everything that could bring me joy? and on that note, why have i been so embarrassed by the things that make me happy?
sometimes i feel like my teenage years and early 20s were completely stolen by mental illness, but being able to earnestly enjoy something as silly as two gay british youtubers from my childhood has brought me back so much of the carefree joy from that time that i thought i'd never get to feel again. and that's not even mentioning the wonderful people i've either become friends with or gotten closer with because of dan and phil. i'm so thankful for this community because it allowed me to discover parts of myself i thought were long dead. thank you to every single one of you who have made my 2024 so memorable 🧡
anyway... in honor of embracing the cringe, i decided to close the year out with a sappy gif set inspired by those old school arial font lyric edits of the 2010s!

Ghost Driver 3: Timterlude
masterpost
“Inspector.” Batman arrived at the police building bare minutes after the selfie of their current biggest suspect had blown up on twooter. Robin balanced on the edge of the rooftop, fingers gripping stone. Woo, safe. He mentally cheered. A quick glance around showed only one other person, and it wasn’t the white-haired meta they were looking for.
“No need, Batman,” Inspector Gordon said. He looked like he had a lot on his mind, Tim thought. Gordon started walking for the stairs. “There’s no trouble here. Joker is accounted for, the ghost kid left.”
“Ghost?” Robin perked his head to the side. “Twooter guy is a ghost?”
“The Joker was broken out of Arkham by the same suspect who sent that twoot.” Batman was a dog with a bone about it. “Robin. Can we track him down by that Twooter account?”
“I can try,” Robin said, dubious. “You want me off patrol for that?”
He didn’t really see the point. What were they looking for, a message draft where the guy listed his name and address?
Batman grunted.
That meant yes. Tim held in a sigh. That was him, off patrol again. Banished back to the cave about an hour after finally getting to go out because the Red Butthead was down for the count.
‘Worst after school job ever.’
“Right,” Gordon said vaguely. He pulled the door open. “Go home.”
The door swung shut, muffling the sound of Batman’s answering grunt.
Robin followed his minder back to the Batmobile. He waited while Batman manhandled his bike out of the trunk and got it out. “See you at the cave,” he said, wishing Batman would say something nice like, ‘sure thing, Robin, I value your contributions.’
Pfft. As if. Tim sulked on his drive back to the cave, alone with the rushing wind and his thoughts. Batman was regressing lately. He was moody and insular again. It was outrageous. After all the work Tim had done to rehabilitate Batman, he was growling at people in public again!
He needed a muzzle for that guy. It wouldn’t solve anything, but it would be massively embarrassing and-
“No, it might solve some of the Catwoman related inefficiencies. That bad kissing habit.” Tim kicked out the stand and left his bike in the entrance where Batman always told him not to leave it. He pulled off his gloves on his way to the big, battiest of all the bat computers, and slouched in Bruce’s chair. “Blegh.” Tim turned it on and navigated to twooter. He looked through “ThePhantomHunk”‘s account with a wrinkled nose. There wasn’t much there, but what there was… was honestly kind of embarrassing. There were four basically identical selfies and hundreds of low quality replies arguing with people about anything from whether or not Batman liked him to how good the latest video game installment in some ancient series was.
“Why’s he have all these followers?” Tim muttered. “He doesn’t post anything.” Phantom wasn’t a big celebrity by any means, but he had a few hundred followers that seemed like real people. He noted a really pretty Ivy League university cheerleader, a weatherman from someplace called Amity, and… a mayor???
Tim squinted. Why was Phantom being followed by the official Amity Park Mayoral twooter account? He opened it to double check that it wasn’t some unfunny impersonation. It appeared to be legitimate.
“New contender for origin,” Tim muttered, taking a note. He scanned bios for more references to Amity Park and started finding them. Wild.
He closed that down and shot off a message to Oracle, telling her what he was up to. She sent back “HA”.
“Very helpful,’” Tim muttered. He scowled all his way over to the bat beverages fridge and extracted a sports drink.
That was when a brand new alarm went off. Tim startled so badly he nearly fell over. Then he rushed to disarm it before the ten second interval where the alert would be redirected to Batman’s comms. Once muted, he scrambled to see what it was.
“That’s… depressing.” Tim bit his lower lip. It was a new alarm on the cemetery where Jason was interred. There was nothing visible on screen, but Batman’s equipment didn’t really give false alarms.
Was that why… had Bruce put that new security system up because someone had threatened his kid’s body? No wonder Bruce was out of sorts. Tim felt a little sick. He felt angry. The chair scraped across the floor when he got up. “I’ll handle it.” Tim muttered to himself as he pulled his gloves back on, checked his mask, and jogged to his ride. “Real quick.”
This drive felt like nothing. The engine roaring underneath him revved him up into a righteous fury. If someone was messing around with Jason’s resting place, they were going to taste the soles of Robin’s boot.
The cemetery gate was still shut. Locked. Tim opened it and went in. Maybe no one was here.
He stopped in his tracks.
Or maybe there was a car parked somewhere impossible. How had anyone driven a car between the rows? Tim drove up in his motorcycle and came to a stop by the driver’s side door.
The driver looked up. White hair, tan skin, green eyes. He went still when he saw Robin and his face screwed up in confusion. He visibly said “huh!” out loud, and then shrugged. He waved through the window.
Tim raised his hand to wave back before he thought about what he was doing. He pulled the hand back down and scowled. “What are you-“
“So you’re like, haunting Jason?” the guy bulldozed over what he’d said. He kicked open his door and grinned. “So glad to see you! I know where one of his safe houses is, but he’s not there, and I can’t detect my way into a cereal box if I’m honest. Why’s he got a grave? I wasn’t sure this was the right guy but it’s clearly the right guy. Maybe my ghostdar is bad.”
“….safe house?” Tim ignored most of the rambling and pointed at the grave. That’s where Jason was. It was grim, but that was where Jason was. And haunting? He wasn’t haunting Jason. He’d maybe sort of stalked him recreationally a little bit, but he’d gotten away with that.
‘He said he was a ghost. What does he think is going on here?’
“Not here, I don’t think he spends time here.” Phantom’s eyebrows furrowed. “Gotta say I’m kinda surprised to discover he died. He’s so full of life, you know?” He shrugged.
Tim stared blankly. Jason was a tiny skeleton in a casket.
“Anyway!” Phantom clapped his hands. “Don’t suppose you know where else he might be? The police guy said Batman kicked his butt, so he’s probably recovering somewhere. Where would he go for that?”
A whole bunch of puzzle pieces slotted neatly into place with quiet clicks. Batman was out of sorts about the Red Hood and acting oddly in regards to Jason’s grave. He was as moody as he’d been after Jason died.
And then, of course, what Phantom had said could hardly be categorized as subtle.
‘Holy moly,’ Tim thought, ‘Jason faked his death and he is mad at Batman. Either that or he’s a ghost? I didn’t know he could do that. Could I do that? I need to see where this is going. And this guy is creepy… Is Jason safe? I need to make sure that he’s safe before I tell Batman anything.’
“Take me to the safe house that you know,” he said. “I can figure it out from there.”
He was officially going undercover.
The guy held up the keys to his clunker and jingled them. “Hop in, creepy Robin.”
“Creepy?” Tim asked, offended. He got in anyway. What was creepy about him? Tim didn’t have cat pupils, unlike some other people.
‘He assumed I was haunting that grave. Does he think I’m a ghost? Does he know a Robin died?’
“No offense.” Phantom carelessly started the car and lifted it directly upwards. Tim grabbed the door handle. “Wheee.”
Phantom drove like a maniac. Phantom belonged in prison. Tim held on for dear life and tried not to throw up. Why was the car even on? The wheels weren’t touching the ground. Phantom was clearly propelling it. Did he not realize he was doing that?
‘Maybe he likes the sound of the engine?’ Tim theorized. ‘Or maybe it’s just habit and he hasn’t thought it through. How long has he been dead, to still be doing that little mundane thing?’
The safe house where Jason had been staying was… well, it definitely looked like a safe house. The only pay dirt was a phone that had been abandoned on the kitchen counter. Tim snatched it up and immediately started running a geotag script.
“Yeah, he left that this afternoon,” Phantom said. He sat cross cross in the air and watched Tim curiously. “This is a weird tactic. Don’t you just know where he goes?”
“I haven’t stalked him for years,” Tim said, and then wished he hadn’t.
Phantom laughed. “Okay, damn.” He fidgeted. He was watching Tim too intensely. “Don’t wanna be rude, but you’ve got like, no ecto, dude.” He cocked his head to the side like that was a question.
Tim didn’t know what ecto was. “Is that what you think?” He said, in his smuggest, most insufferable Robin tone.
Phantom rolled his eyes. His mouth twisted downwards.
Shit. He might not have answered that well enough. Tim pretended to be absorbed in his task even though the tool he was using was running independently.
His heart thudded in his chest as the program ran. He licked his lips. Was this going to turn to a fight? Tension started to rise. Was it really? Was it just in his head?
Beep.
“I have some possibilities for safehouses.” Tim held up the phone. “Here, on James Ave, I bet that’s where he went after his confrontation with Batman.”
There was a long pause. Phantom’s eyes glinted in an animalian, predatorial glint. It sent a shudder through Tim. He felt like he was in danger-
“Neat!” Phantom chirped. The spell was broken. “Let’s go.”
He couldn’t help but feel that he had dodged a bullet. Tim kept a hand near his toolbelt as he followed Phantom back to the car.
The guy didn’t attack, for what that was worth. Tim buckled himself in and wished that he was in the backseat. He itched to get out of Phantom’s line of sight. If Jason really was down for the count after a confrontation between Batman and the Joker, Tim couldn’t leave him at the mercy of this guy. Phantom had released the Joker. The only thing in his favor was that Inspector Gordon hadn’t said he was a danger.
Phantom rocketed off. They passed through downtown Gotham in a queasy rush of color, backlit by the growing daylight. This was way too late for Robin to be out in Gotham. He shouldn’t be here.
…Batman was going to realize that he wasn’t in the cave. Very soon. Tim angled his body away from Phantom and tried to surreptitiously write a message on his wrist watch. “Done for the night,” Tim lied.
Boy, he hoped that he didn’t end up in some kind of trouble. Batman was not going to notice him missing for a long time, if he believed that message.
He crossed his fingers.

FADE INTO YOU - C.C.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
words: 1056
warnings: none
summary: you and Caitlin being in love and finally having time to show it because it's her off season
After the long (extremely long) basketball season, it was time for Caitlin’s off-season. I couldn’t be more excited. The thoughts of spending my days with her, rather than the limited time we had together before. Her either rushing off to practice or flying away for a game, I, staying home to finish my schooling while starting my job. I already flew out to Indiana when she got drafted to The Fever, but I couldn’t go everywhere with her. As much as I wanted too, I had to stay home and watch her games sometimes rather than be there for her. But now, it was the time of year where not too much was going on. She’d still practice, I still had work and school, but we were never really too far apart.
My alarm went off, seven in the morning, for work. I turned it off, just laying back in bed, looking at the ceiling. I didn’t want to go, I needed to go, but did I really? I looked over at my sleeping girlfriend. Her mouth slightly open as she breathed quietly. I smiled; she was adorable. I leaned over, placing a soft kiss on her head. I whispered, “I love you.”
I go to get up, sitting at the edge of the bed, when someone holds onto my arm pulling me back. I look back at her, sleep evident in her face, her wavy hair everywhere, and a dumb smile on her face; Caitlin didn’t say anything, just tugged at my arm softly.
“I gotta get up for work, Cait,” I say, almost whining at the thought. She shakes her head, I laugh. “Sadly, yes, I do.”
“No, call in. You work so hard, give yourself a day to rest, baby,” The pet name slipping through her lips. It’s been a while since I’ve heard it, I immediately broke. She became worried, her eyes looking suddenly awake, “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“We…we just haven’t been able to have time to ourselves recently. It’s just…I don’t know…”
She moves close to me, pulling me to lay on top of her, “No, no tell me what you’re feeling. I’m here to listen, I’m here to help.”
I nuzzle my head into her neck, feeling the warmth radiate off her body, “I know...it’s just…I’ve missed us.” I mess with the fingers of her hand that weren’t running through my hair.
“I did to, y/n, I’ve missed you so much,” She paused, taking my chin in her hand, moving me to look up at her, “Take today off, we’ll go have some fun. That sound good?”
I nod, a smile finding its way to my lips, “More than good.” I pull myself away from her, her pouting. I laugh, “I have call in, can’ t just not show up.”
“Okay,” She drug out the word, I chuckled.
“I’ll be quick, I promise,” And quick I was, I needed this. I told them that I needed a day because of mental health. It wasn’t completely wrong, I needed this day to improve my mental state, but also to just hang out with the person I loved most. “Okay, okay, I called!” I ran back to the bed, excited for today. Caitlin just laughed.
“Babe, I’ve never seen you so happy,” Her smile rested on her face, sweet and loving. She got out of the bed to walk up to me, her hands falling to my waist. My arms snaked around her neck, almost without a thought behind the action. I smiled up at her, hers beaming bright. “I love you.”
My breath hitched at the words; I’ve never been so smitten for someone in my life. I felt like my every waken moment needed to be spent with her, and the last year hasn’t been that. “I love you too,” I blushed, the words leaving my mouth with a shyness to it.
She leaned down, placing a small kiss to my lips. I melted into it, my hands going into her dark hair, my body pressing against hers. She separates our lips, making me pout. “Stop being cute,” She teased, “We’ll literally stay in the room all day if we don’t stop.”
“There’s nothing wrong with that,” I mumble, her snickering. “I mean, there is nothing wrong with that. Imagine all the stuff we could do in here…” I paused, reading Caitlin’s face, “You know, like watch movies, eat snacks, scroll on our phones.” Caitlin blushed; I laughed. “And what were you thinking, pretty girl?”
She blushed even more, “Stoppp,” She whined out causing me to laugh. I shrug.
“Stop what, hmm?”
“You know exactly what I was thinking…and stop calling me pretty girl,” She hid her face, her hands leaving my hips. I chuckle.
“But it’s the truth, I call a pretty girl ‘pretty girl’. That’s how it works,” I lower my hands to her waist, traveling slowly before stopping there. She looks through her fingers, a small smile on her lips.
“God, I’ve missed you.”
“Me too, Caitlin.”
We stood there, our bodies touching, just taking in the moment. I couldn’t have been happier. This seemed like the most intimate moment we’ve had in a while. Before Cait’s legendary senior year college season, we had nothing but these moments. Going on little road trips just to be in the car for hours, talking, singing. The waking up early in the morning so we could just watch the sunrise through the windows of our apartment in Iowa. Or the late-night drives to a secluded field to stargaze. We did it all, we did it together. Now, we were drifting apart, or it felt like it. This morning says otherwise. I’m still deeply in love with the woman holding me, and I can feel the reciprocation.
“Hey,” she said, slightly pulling away. I hummed in response. “You wanna go get something to eat?” I smiled, placing a soft kiss on her cheek before untangling us.
“Why don’t we try to make something,” I walk towards the door, “You know we do have a kitchen. Like, I don’t think you ever step foot in there.”
She laughs, “I do too!” She pauses, “I go in there to get bottles of water out of the fridge.”
I laugh, “Shut up, come on, cutie.”
She rolled her eyes, following me into the kitchen.
A/N: i'm sorry...this has to be the cutest thing i've written. Like...come on

hughes!sister x will smith au (samy + will)
things become too much for the youngest hughes causing everyone around her to worry for her well-being
wc: 4.1k
some warnings incase: some mental health struggle, burnout, struggling to reach out for help
i've had this one in the drafts for awhile and i finally finished it. wanted to write some more angst of the harder side of samy's collegiate life, but luckily she's got a real good support system by her side! (also trying some new things with my titles) (p.s. heading home again for winter break in 2 days so i’ll get to everyone’s requests then!!)

there was a lot riding on this season now that samy was officially named 1st alternate captain. after lots of success and making it to the ncaa finals last year, the umich coaches decided to name the star freshman their alternate captain going into her sophomore year. she had proved herself with all the goals and strategies from last season and the girls on the team agreed no one else deserved the position more. samy couldn't be more grateful for the honor knowing how much her team was going to look up to her in the coming season to pull off the same thing and hopefully win the championships this year.
being alternate captain meant that the youngest hughes was pulled up incase any of the captains now couldn't fulfill their role, so she had to be in attendance to every captain meeting with the coaches and the other girls relied heavily on her since she had the strategy. it was rewarding, but also really draining sometimes.
on top of this, samy had a full course load to manage while also still finding time to hang out with her friends and keep in touch with everyone else. her busy schedule kept her out of the apartment most days and nights, not coming back in until hannah was fast asleep and sometimes samy hardly slept herself. her rushing around allowed little time for her to slow down and be in the present with what was happening.
she got up early for practice, saying a half-hearted goodbye to her roommate, and then was out the door with the chance of not returning until later that night. whenever there was downtime, samy's attention was stolen away by a girl on the team needing something or calling her parents and boyfriend, so in reality, she had very little time to herself.
it was starting to take a toll on the brunette. the sleepless nights left dark, heavy bags under her eyes and the caffeine consumption was at an all time high that just left her jittery and shaky the rest of the day. even trying to do homework and study made samy restless because she just couldn't sit still knowing everything else she needed to do.
however, if there was one thing about the hughes siblings, it was that they never asked for help. growing up in a constantly competitive environment led the four to become extremely independent and asking for help with even the smallest things was out of the question, especially samy who worked her whole life to prove that she could be just like her older brothers.
so even if she was struggling with balancing everything and taking care of herself, samy would not ask for help.
will learned this one the hard way growing up with the youngest hughes and now that he was all the way in california, he had no way of knowing if she was taking care of herself. he knew she was named 1st alternate captain and the work that came with it, but the text messages weren't enough to suffice if samy was still making time for herself. will started worrying when the messages from her started becoming vague and a lot less, more so when she kept putting off their nightly facetime calls claiming she was caught up with other stuff.
he knew she had a game in boston in two days, so will decided to reach out to the boys to make sure they seriously checked in with samy to make sure she was doing okay.
"i'm just a bit worried about her," will explained to gabe over the phone the night before the game.
"you know she's really good at hiding that kind of stuff. she's never asked for help when she's struggling," the darker-haired boy said which made the blonde sigh.
"yeah, i know which is why i want you and the guys to just check-in with her and see if she's okay. i'm worried she isn't properly taking care of herself," will said and gabe nodded even though his friend couldn't see him.
"yeah, we will, don't worry. leno and i have plans to get lunch with her before the game so we'll see how she is," the boy's words sent some relief to will's chest.
"okay, thanks. i appreciate it. we'll talk later," the two exchanged goodbyes and will tried not to think too much about it for the rest of the night or else he'd stress himself out.
he knew samy could take care of herself, but he just worried that with everything she had going on this semester it was becoming too much and she wasn't reaching out for help.
with the night game, samy had time to catch lunch with ryan and gabe downtown that afternoon. she entered the restaurant they discussed meeting at with a bright smile on her face. it'd been since late july that the three saw one another, so she was excited to have the chance to catch up with them. the boys spotted her at their table near the back, excitedly standing up to greet her in hugs. the girl jumped over to them with her arms already open.
"hey! it's so good to see you guys again," she cheered, embracing gabe first. the darker-haired boy grinned, wrapping his arms tight around her torso.
he noticed the change first.
as he wrapped his arms around her, she felt..different. or at least gabe thought so. he couldn't quite place what was different, but..she felt..smaller? lighter? he didn't know how to explain the change, but he definitely noticed it, especially when the girl pulled back and he saw the very obvious bags under her eyes.
he didn't say anything though, letting her go so ryan could hug her. when the two pulled away gabe glanced at ryan, speaking with his eyes by asking if ryan noticed anything too. the brunette was too caught up in the menu though that he didn't catch his friend's glance.
"i already know what i want," ryan hummed.
"of course you do. i haven't been here in so long," samy giggled, perusing the menu herself while gabe did the same.
"how've you been though? you're a big soccer captain now," the brunette hockey player roughed up the girl's arm making her flush.
"not quite captain, but i'm getting there. i've been..good. busy, but good," samy's hesitation made gabe look up at her briefly. he tried reading her expression, but she just looked back down at the menu.
"that's so awesome you got 1st alternate captain. what a status. you think you'll be real captain next season?" ryan kept talking.
"i mean i hope so. our head coach really likes me and so do the girls, so it's a possibility."
"we're excited for the game later. i think almost all the hockey boys are coming to watch you play," gabe finally chipped into the conversation.
"aww, that's so cute. i'm excited too. it should be a good game," her bright smile made the boys smile and maybe she really was doing okay, she was just super busy. every college student hit a really busy point in the semester that caused bags under their eyes and slight weight loss.
gabe decided not to pry now because he knew samy just wanted to enjoy lunch, so he eased himself into the conversation and listened to all the things him and ryan have missed since they last saw her.
if the three could keep talking, they totally would, but after two hours, they had to cut it short because samy needed to be back for enough time to get ready and get to the field for warmups. ryan and gabe graciously paid (even after samy told them they didn't have to pay for her) and walked back out onto the busy boston sidewalk. they exchanged a few last hugs for now.
"see you at the game! look for us, we'll have big signs," ryan chuckled as he embraced the brunette again. she smiled.
"i can't wait to see them."
gabe hugged her last, still not shaking how there was something different about the youngest hughes, he just couldn't put his finger on it. "good to see you, hughesy. we'll see you soon."
"see you super soon. thanks again for lunch," she patted gabe's cheek making him flush.
"of course. you're doing okay, right?" he stopped beating around the bush and lowered his voice a little.
samy gave him a quizzical look, a flush coating her own cheeks at his somewhat personal question like he just saw right through her or something, but she quickly played it off.
"yeah, i'm good. why?"
"no reason, just wondering. being nosy. being protective," gabe shook his head.
"i'm good, i promise. i'll see you guys later," samy finally said her last goodbye and they walked in separate directions.
gabe chose to believe her because if samy said she was fine, she was fine. she did know herself better than anyone else and who was gabe to say that she didn't look good? so he let it go and would tell will samy seemed fine, just tired.
later, at the game, gabe realized he should've poked more about his friend's well-being.
the lady wolverines had a big lead on the eagles. they were up a whopping 5-2 in the second half with no chance the lady eagles could catch up to them. at this point, the michigan girls were just playing to see how many goals they could rack up in one night.
the hockey boys definitely got a lot of strange looks when they took turns holding up various signs they made for samy and screamed her name as she ran up the field with the ball in boston's student section.
"hughesy, hughesy, hughesy," ryan got a chant going to which the boys and the small michigan student section joined in on.
"stop fucking cheering for the other team!" someone yelled in the middle of the chant, obviously annoyed that people from boston were cheering for michigan.
"shut up! she's our friend!" aram yelled back at the stranger who just rolled his eyes.
"they're gonna kill our girls," drew chuckled when samy's team scored yet another goal bringing it up to 6-2.
"honestly, i saw it coming. our soccer team is kind of shit compared to michigan, no offense," fowler shrugged a bit and the other guys snickered because they knew he was right. boston's soccer program wasn't the best even though they had gotten a bit better since last year. they just needed a star player to come in and change it around like samy had done for michigan.
the wolverines earned themselves a corner kick when the eagles rolled the ball out of line. samy hurried over to take the kick, but as she began slowing down to get into position, she felt a bit light-headed. her team worked to get into position for her kick, but the more the youngest hughes finally slowed herself down, the worse she felt. she stood in front of the ball trying to ground herself and get her bearings back, but instead, the whole field spun in her vision.
"is she okay?" teddy wondered from behind the sophomores as they waited for samy to make the kick.
gabe watched her from the stands and the way she swayed on her heels like she may pass out. his heart dropped and he cursed to himself. he knew there was something wrong.
despite samy's vision spinning, she attempted to make the kick knowing the team and refs were waiting. however, as soon as she moved she went down, landing face first in the turf.
the ref blew his whistle. people in the stands gasped and gabe was on his feet not even thinking twice as he ran down the bleachers and ignored the calls of the others. "shit," ryan muttered and ran after him.
the two boys were down on the field a second later, not caring that they weren't supposed to be down there. the refs who didn't quite know what to do let the boys in as they kneeled down to samy's side.
"samy? hey, samy?" gabe tried shaking the girl awake. her coach was across the field a second later while the others tried keeping everyone else away.
"what happened? is she hurt?" coach klein asked in concern.
"i think she passed out," gabe informed, gently tapping samy's cheeks to wake her back up.
a full minute passed before the girl's eyes fluttered back open and a wave of relief washed over everyone hovering over her. she saw gabe first and the concern written all over his features and she knew something bad happened.
"thank god. are you okay?" the darker-haired boy wondered.
"w-what happened?" the brunette rasped out.
"you passed out, hughes," coach klein informed before the boys could.
samy's face paled even further because she knew the exact reason why and that she definitely lied to gabe earlier when he asked if she was doing okay.
"oh," was all the girl managed.
"let's get you up. you probably need water and some food," gabe said gently as him and ryan helped her to her feet.
"you guys got her then?" coach asked and the boys nodded.
they supported samy's weight as the crowd in the stands clapped that she was up and the refs restarted the game with someone else taking the corner kick. ryan and gabe led the girl into the sports facility, finding the nearest bench to sit her down on for the moment.
"go find her some water and get her food from one of the vending machines," gabe instructed and ryan did as told.
samy's head hung low as she avoided gabe's lingering gaze knowing what he was about to say to her. she felt him sit down beside her, "i thought you promised me you were fine?"
his tone wasn't angry or anything, but she could hear the disappointment in it and that seemed to hurt worse.
"i don't really know what happened," samy frowned still not meeting the hockey player's eyes.
"samantha, come on. tell me what's going on," gabe using her full name meant he was being really serious and she grimaced at the use of it.
"i guess..i just haven't had a lot of time to slow down and it's finally catching up with me," she finaly admitted to which the boy sighed.
"have you been taking care of yourself?" he wondered.
"i..i guess not really. i haven't really been eating or sleeping properly. i've been caught up in a lot."
"you know that's not an excuse to not be nourishing yourself and sleeping right," the boy pointed out softly, not wanting to anger her.
"i know," samy kept admitting her defeat.
ryan came back down the hallway with a large gatorade and about five different snacks in his arms. he set it all down on the bench beside the girl and then exchanged a glance with gabe.
"will just called me asking about what happened. i told him you passed out. he wants you to call him," the taller brunette explained.
"i'm sure i have to call a lot of people. my parents are probably blowing up my phone right now," samy sighed, her head falling into her hands.
the two boys exchanged another glance where they spoke with just looks, "you know we're always here for you if you need to talk or need anything, right? just because we're in different states doesn't mean we don't wanna be there for you and help carry some of the weight on your shoulders. the same goes for will," gabe said gently as he rubbed his hand across her back in soothing circles.
"i know, i know. i just thought i'd be able to handle it and it'd become easier, but i guess it just kept piling up," the girl frowned again.
"is it something about the alternate captain position? has that been too much?" ryan wondered.
"it's definitely a lot and maybe i just didn't expect for it to be as much as it is. i've been kind of falling behind in work too," her words made the boys frown.
"do you think there's someone you can talk to about this to help you manage a little better? like your coach? or one of the other captains on the team to see how they manage it all? it might be helpful especially since you might be an actual captain next year," gabe offered because him and ryan knew eamon powell had a lot to balance being captain as well, but he also wasn't afraid to ask for help when he needed it. he actually relied a lot on the team when he was looking for new suggestions.
"yeah, yeah. i can talk to them," samy nodded.
"we're just worried about you, hughesy. we know you don't really like asking for help, but it's not a bad thing. it doesn't mean your weak or anything or any less. a lot of people ask for help. i'm sure your brothers do too," ryan tried his best to comfort the girl as he also joined in with rubbing her back.
"it's just so hard when i grew up thinking asking for help is a sign of weakness and i wasn't capable. like i know i can ask, but something in my brain is stopping me and i just can't do it," she leaned back against the wall, defeat clear in her system.
"well, maybe that's what you can talk about with your coach and she can refer you to a sports psychologist or someone who can help you work through these things. i'm sure your team and coach wants you to be at your best, but they can't help if you don't reach out," gabe hummed.
"i'm sorry i didn't tell you guys the truth at lunch today. i should've. i don't know why i didn't," samy shook her head and finally took a few sips of the gatorade.
"don't apologize, it's okay. we just hope you'll reach out to any of us when you do need help again. we were just freaked out when you passed out like that," the darker-haired hockey player said.
"a mix of not enough sleep or enough food knocked me off my game i guess."
"well, we're glad you're okay. try eating some more and then we'll walk back out to the field with you," ryan smiled softly which samy appreciated their soft tones. she probably could not handle them being angry with her and lecturing.
coach kept samy out of the rest of the game just so she wouldn't overwork herself again. once the game finished, the youngest hughes called her parents to update them and tell them she was okay and then her brothers who also blew up her phone because they were watching the stream and saw her pass out.
"yeah, i passed out, but i'm fine," she told them.
"shit, samy. you freaked us out when you just fell like that," jack huffed.
"i'm sorry. i guess it's just been a long few weeks and i haven't really been taking care of myself," samy explained with a frown.
"oh shit, sorry. are you okay?" luke asked.
"i will be. i just gotta figure out how to balance it all. probably talk to my coach and reach out to one of the sports psychologists," the girl informed the three older boys.
quinn, who hadn't said much since calling, was the most observant sibling out of the four and he also started realizing how neither of them reached out for help when they needed it most. "hey squirt, i know we raised you thinking getting help showed you were weak, but you know that's not true right? that was never our intention. getting help when things are hard is really beneficial," the oldest hughes commented.
"yeah, i know," samy said.
"yeah, i mean it's been a learning curve for all of us, but we always reach out when things get to be too much. we're always here to help too. plus, mom and dad are always good shoulders to lean on if you need to rant," luke chirped up and samy smiled at their words.
"yeah, thanks guys. i promise i'm gonna reach out to balance it all better," she nodded even though they couldn't see her.
"good. we want you taking care of yourself, seriously," quinn said.
"i will, i promise this time. i'll talk to you guys later, yeah?" the four exchanged heartfelt goodbyes and samy had one more call to make which was the one she was the most scared to make.
will knew her all too well and he already knew how hard it was for samy to reach out for help until it got way too overwhelming, so she worried he would be mad at her for not reaching out sooner.
"hi baby," will answered immediately.
"hi will," samy leaned against the hallway.
"are you okay? ryan said you passed out," the blonde wondered and the girl grimaced.
"yeah, i'm okay now."
"what's been going on? has everything been okay?" his soft tone took samy by surprise and for some reason, it just made her break down.
she sunk herself to the ground and basically started sobbing through the phone. will's heart broke hearing her cry and he couldn't do anything about it besides stay on the phone with her. he hated being so far away in moments like these that he couldn't physically be there for her.
"baby, talk to me. you're okay. i'm right here," he tried.
"i'm sorry will. i'm sorry. i'm just so tired and exhausted. i haven't had like any time to myself at all and i haven't been doing any studying and i already feel so burnt out from everything," it all poured out from the girl as she told her boyfriend everything that was going on. the blonde's heart tightened and twisted into a knot hearing his girlfriend sound so defeated and he was on the opposite end of the country.
"samy, don't apologize. there's noting to apologize for. i'm so sorry you've been feeling this way. i wish there was something i could do," will sympathized with her.
"i'm sorry i haven't been calling you either. i was scared to admit to you that i haven't been doing well and i didn't wanna burden you—"
"samy, nothing you do or say could ever burden me. you know that. i wanna talk to you. i wanna hear your problems. i wanna try and help you, i promise, but i can't do that if you don't talk to me," will cut her off.
"i know, i know. i guess i've just never felt this overwhelmed before, but i'm gonna reach out more, i promise. i'm gonna talk to my coaches and explain how i've been feeling," the brunette wiped her eyes from her tears.
"it's okay to feel overwhelmed, baby. no one is gonna be mad at you for setting boundaries and taking time for yourself, okay? we're all here for you," the blonde made sure he was firm so she knew.
"yeah, thank you. gabe and ryan took care of me and made sure i ate and drank some stuff," that made the hockey player smile a bit knowing his friends were always looking out for her even when he wasn't there.
"i'm glad they did. i wish i was there to take away your hurt and pain," the boy frowned.
"i wish you were here too. i miss you like crazy."
"i miss you a lot too, but i'll see you real soon, okay? hang in there for me, yeah?"
"yeah, i will. i promise," samy managed a smile.
"good. i'm always here for you. i love you," she heard will kiss the phone bringing a laugh from her lips.
"i love you too. i'll call you later," samy knew she needed to get herself together to get back on the bus in a few hours. the couple hung up and the girl stood up to wipe the rest of her tears and compose herself.
once her backpack of things was back together, she went to go find the boys who promised they'd wait up for her to continue catching up before she left. for once since the semester started, samy was gonna be in the present with them and choose not to think about anything else.
gabe saw her first, opening his arm up to bring her into the circle. the others excitedly said hi to her and then her and gabe exchanged a knowing glance. she nodded to say she was doing a lot better now and she felt him squeeze her arm as they continued talking with everyone else.

2 Be Loved
this has sat in my drafts for... idk exactly how long, a month at least, because i was trying to decide if i even wanted to post it here. i wrote this for myself when i was Going Through It with my depression. now that i've sat on it a while, and i've generally been doing better, i've decided it's time to go ahead and share this. i hope you all enjoy it, and that it brings you some level of comfort or reassurance if you need it 💜
read on ao3 here | wc: ~2.4k | cw: gender neutral reader, plus size reader, mental health issues (reader is in a depressive episode), emotional hurt/comfort, some fluff at the end, really this is very self ship coded
Tumblr media
You’d spent practically the whole day in bed. And the day before that, and the day before that, and probably the day before that, too. You’d lost count, honestly; all the days bleeding together and blurring in the fog of your mind.
This was far from the first time this had happened, and you knew it would also be far from the last. Your emotional state had been a rollercoaster for most of your life, and had only become more volatile in the last few years. You would be fine, until you suddenly realized you were decidedly not fine, with some realizations being more gentle than others.
Like this time, for example. You hadn’t suddenly buckled under the weight of the world, but instead had woken up one morning and felt paralyzed; even just the idea of getting out of bed, for any reason, felt insurmountable. So you simply… didn’t. You stayed in bed and slept between episodes of your favorite TV show, grasping for anything that might stop you from sinking further into the depths of your depression.
Satoru had been as patient as ever, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead and whispering a little “I love you,” before he’d left for work. He knew you struggled this way sometimes, and had never been anything but supportive and loving. Suguru had called in “sick”, opting to spend the day taking care of you, which mostly consisted of slipping in and out of sleep all day and occasionally bringing a snack from the kitchen. Satoru had joined you back in bed as soon as he got home from work, effectively squishing you between himself and Suguru, where you were helpless to do anything but let them love you.
It had reduced you to tears, shoulders shaking as ugly, half choked sobs tore themselves from your chest. They had let you cry, not rushing to try and quiet you as they might have done when they were younger; they let you get it out of your system, only stepping in to comfort you when you started to speak.
“I’m sorry,” you’d cried, eyes shut tight as you tried to avoid their gaze. “I’m sorry I’m…” you’d struggled for words then, losing them between your hiccuping sobs and the darkness that clouded your mind.
“I’m too much,” you’d come up with eventually. “My emotions are too messy, and my mind doesn’t work right… I feel like all I do is cause problems for both of you. Like all I do is hold you back and drag you down.”
You hadn’t seen the look they’d exchanged, the pain that pinched their features, but you had felt the way they pressed in closer, as if they could crush the depression out of you.
“You are not too much,” Satoru had murmured, gently tilting your head up to meet his gaze, his cerulean eyes sparkling in the low light from the lamp on your bedside table. “You could never be too much, not to me – to us.” His thumb brushed lightly along your cheekbone, delicately wiping the tears from your skin even as they were replaced with more. “We love you so much, y’know? I love you so much. Taking care of you is not a chore, or a burden.”
You’d shaken your head, unable to believe his words. “You can’t possibly mean that.”
“But we do,” Suguru had been the one to speak that time. “You mean it when you tell me the same thing when I’m depressed, right?”
“Of course I do.” There wasn’t any hesitation as the words left your lips. “Taking care of you is a privilege.”
“Then why can’t you believe we feel the same way about taking care of you?”
His words had left you reeling, so much so that you almost didn’t hear Suguru when he continued.
“Satoru’s right, angel. I love you. We adore you, and we want to take care of you. Always.”
As Suguru had hugged you tighter with one arm and pressed gentle kisses to your shoulder, he’d placed his other hand on your white haired lover’s hip, keeping him as close as possible. Satoru had been eager to oblige, snuggling into you as much as possible. He’d brushed your hair from your face and pressed a kiss to your forehead, one hand cradling your face while the other reached across you to settle on Suguru’s hip. They had effectively caged you in, both with their bodies and with their love. It had shattered you, reduced you to tears again, but they hadn’t minded; they were there to hold you together, to pick up the pieces when you couldn’t do it alone.
Through some unspoken agreement, your boys switched places the next day; Suguru had gone into work while Satoru had called out “sick” to take care of you. They did their best not to leave you alone for too long whenever they could help it, but they could only get away with calling out sick when everyone knew the two of them were perfectly healthy; when the higher ups knew that you were the one keeping the two special grades and teachers from fully doing their jobs.
A few days passed with your lovers taking turns staying home with you, until one day they both called out to stay home, though you didn’t realize that at first, since Suguru was quick to return to you in bed, holding you close as you drifted off again, faintly away of the sound of the front door closing and locking before you were fully asleep.
When you woke up again, the first thing you were aware of was the fact that you were alone in bed. At almost the same moment, though, you heard music coming from what you guessed what the kitchen, though you couldn’t quite tell, since the bedroom door was shut; wherever it was coming from, it was definitely upbeat pop music, so you knew for certain Satoru was the one who had turned it on.
With no small amount of effort, you pushed yourself into a sitting position, rubbing your eyes for a moment and yawning before you crawled off the bed on Satoru’s side. You shuffled over to the dresser then, opening drawers and grabbing clothes pretty much at random. You wound up in a black sweatshirt and a pair of light blue sweatpants, both of which were at least two sizes too big for you, which even your fuzzy brain knew meant they weren’t actually your clothes; they belonged to your two giants of lovers.
Once you were dressed, you turned back to the nightstand, grabbing one of Suguru’s hair ties to pull your hair out of your face with, and, after a deep breath, you decided to brave the kitchen.
Opening the door to the bedroom allowed you to fully hear the music that was playing, and you were a little surprised to realize it was in English, rather than Japanese. Satoru liked to listen to anything that was happy and upbeat enough, but he – understandably – had a bit of a preference for J pop music.
Still a little surprised by the music choice and a little foggy from sleep, you make your way to the kitchen in a bit of a daze. Both Satoru and Suguru were in the kitchen: Suguru at the counter, mixing something in the stand mixer, while Satoru danced around to the music, occasionally trying to steal a bit of whatever Suguru had in the mixing bowl, and being effectively swatted away every time. You stood in the doorway for a few moments in silence, just watching them in utter adoration.
Eventually, though, Satoru noticed you, and he got a bright grin on his face as he raced over to you. “You got out of bed!” he gushed, wrapping you up in a tight hug and pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “I’m so proud of you, mochi,” he murmured against your scalp, and something about the nickname in combination with the praise made you feel like you were going to melt into a puddle right then and there.
Just as suddenly as he had engulfed you in a hug, the white haired sorcerer was releasing you, lunging for where he’d left his phone on the counter by the bluetooth speaker he was using for the music. You watched curiously as he opened his playlist, hastily skipping through a handful of songs before he got to the one he was apparently looking for. Seeming pleased with himself, he made sure the song was playing, turned the volume up a little bit, then turned back to you with that sparkling grin of his.
You blinked in surprise when you heard the singer’s voice, and you looked up at him with a look of complete bafflement. “I didn’t know you listened to Lizzo.”
He sighed dramatically and rolled his eyes. “No, baby, you gotta listen to the lyrics!” he insisted, taking your hands and doing a very small little dance with you right there in the doorway.
Though part of you wanted to argue, you had never been good at resisting your energetic lover, and this time was no exception. Before you even nodded, Satoru already knew you’d given in to him, and he pulled you a bit closer to himself as he started singing along with the lyrics. And not quietly, either: he sang them with all the enthusiasm in his body, and though you hated to admit it, it was contagious, even in your depressed state.
By the end of the first verse, you were smiling, a small laugh escaping you at your lover’s almost puppyish behavior. When the chorus came around, you started singing along as well, and you noticed belatedly that Satoru was singing the lines of the background singers, rather than the main chorus, like you were.
“Am I ready?”
“You deserve it now.”
“‘Cause I want it!”
“That’s what I’m talkin’ about.”
“Am I ready?”
“You gon’ figure it out.”
“To be loved, to be loved.”
Your singing faltered then, and you stared up at Satoru for a moment, suddenly realizing why he’d picked this song to serenade you with. He stopped singing as well, smiling gently down at you as he watched you fit the puzzle pieces together in your mind.
“We’ve always been ready to love you.”
The sound of Suguru’s voice from behind you caused you to startle a bit, but you looked up at him with wide, disbelieving eyes.
“Are you ready to let us love you again?” His tone held no resentment, no bitterness, only gentle adoration, and you were certain that if Satoru didn’t still have a solid grip on your hands, you would have sunk to your knees with the overwhelming realization of how much these two men adored you, despite how much your mind sometimes tried to convince you they shouldn’t.
Unable to find your voice, you nodded, blinking back the tears that threatened to spill down your cheeks. You allowed your eyes to flutter shut for a moment as Suguru leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of your head, but just a few seconds later, Satoru was tugging you back into his space, spinning you around so your back was to his chest. The song was still playing and he was apparently still determined to get you to dance with him.
Suguru laughed softly at his lover’s antics, shaking his head slightly at Satoru and offering you a slight shrug when you looked up at him for some sort of explanation.
Now the subject of Satoru’s whims, you allowed him to dance around the kitchen with you in his arms, still singing along with the song, though now his volume was lower, as he sang the words down at you. You smiled, allowing yourself to get lost in the warmth of his love, even if his fingers were cold where they wrapped around your own.
“He call me Melly, he squeeze my belly.”
Your eyes flew open as Satoru sang the words, his chilly hands coming down to squeeze at the soft flesh of your stomach, the touch pulling a rather undignified squeak from your lips, but he just continued to beam down at you. He wasn’t going along with the lyrics of the song to make fun of you – he’d expressed to you enough times that he adored the soft pudginess of your body for you to know he meant it – but it still surprised every time he made sure to pay special attention to the squishier parts of you.
The sound of your squeak pulled another laugh from Suguru, and though at first you were planning to glare at him, you couldn’t go through with it; not when his expression was full of so much love and relief. He crossed the kitchen to reach you again, whatever was in the mixer long forgotten in favor of you. When he reached out for you, going to him was easier than breathing. He pulled you close, pressing his lips to the crown of your head as he swayed around the kitchen with you. The movement didn’t match the energy of the song at all, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to care. You were safe and secure in his arms, and Satoru had enough energy for all three of you; it was impossible not to watch him as he danced around the kitchen, white hair and blue eyes shining, and he flashed you that brilliant grin of his every time he caught your gaze.
Things weren’t suddenly perfect; Lizzo and dancing in the kitchen was not a magical fix-it for the irregularities in your emotional state, but it was certainly a stepping stone back to your normal. And you knew, without any doubt in your mind, that you would have the support and full confidence of your lovers behind you every step of the way. They were your way back to yourself, after all. Suguru was your anchor in stormy seas, tethering you to something real, something sturdy; Satoru was the lighthouse calling you home when the waters calmed enough for you to move again.

artkita family stimboard when ^^??

artkita family stimboard
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
im SO happy to finally get to do this… this has been in my drafts. okay listen, i think artyom would hate his family and abuse his malewife as much as the next guy… but i am so incredibly depressed i need to imagine them as a happy couple with children.
also for my headcanons just pretend that artyom and nikita got better, moved to america, and became a happy gay couple…❤️
(im actually writing a fanfic similar to this.)
artyom definitely works as a doctor so theyre a little more well off and he likes to spoil their kid(s) with nice little trips or things here and there. he also likes to spoil nikita with nice things.
because hes a doctor hes not home all the time which leaves nikita to do a lot of the work. i feel like he would be a stay at home dad since he has poor mental health and is working on himself #selfloveking but he takes care of the kid(s) nicely.
artyom is the dad they go to for all the advice and logical stuff while nikita is the dad they go to for comfort and help. artyom never got very good at comforting and nikita never got very good at giving advice, so it works out.
they also go to artyom for any kind of medical things. anytime their kid(s) get sick hes the one to help with it and he’ll also help when they get hurt/cut… he will clean the wound and put a bandaid on it just for them. hehehe.
nikita is usually the one to put their kid(s) to bed because artyom is always so busy working/not home and i think theyd make it into a whole production. nice shower/baths and then he would tuck them into bed, but he would always get stuck there telling them stories and such… he ends up falling asleep with them.
i dont care what anyone says about this, but they need to own cats. at least two of them. it would be so cute.
their kids have definitely seem pictures and videos of them from when they were teenagers/kids and they think they looked so cool. one time they even convinced artyom to grow his hair back out which he did a little bit, so then they played with his hair and styled it.
nikita had also introduced them to purgen and gave them his old hoodie which they wear all the time. the band really grew on them and now they listen to the music together all the time.
nikita and artyom have both pushed their kid(s) to pursue music in some way. artyom has definitely taught their kid(s) how to play guitar while nikita taught them how to use certain music equipment and sound things.
they for sure both taught their kid(s) how to speak russian and they use it frequently in their household. they switch between using english and russian all the time in their sentences.
on that note, their kid(s) also grew up watching and reading russian kids shows and stories.
when the kid(s) are having a bad day and are cuddled up with nikita he will run his fingers through their hair or rub their back while he hums the tunes to some of the old songs he used to sing.
when artyom has off and they have someone to watch the kid(s) then him and nikita will go on little dates and trips to have time for themselves. it doesnt matter where, they just enjoy the break.
artyom and nikita definitely had to go through a lot of therapy and work to even get to where they are now. they both got over their issues and artyom cares for nikita a lot. i think nikita would have to take meds for things and would struggle to even get up a lot, so artyom will remind him to take his pills and stuff. when nikita is absolutely stuck in bed artyom will gladly take care of everything around the house.
artyom has an office at home that he works from sometimes, but when hes working in there a lot of the time their kid(s) will interrupt him and try to bother him as much as possible so nikita always has to come and get them out.
at night though when nikita puts the kids to bed and artyoms still working in his office he will go in there and be with him. it starts with him leaning on the desk, then sitting on the arm of the chair, before sitting in his lap and watching him work. its only a matter of time before hew completely distracted and theyre flirting/loving up on each other.

can i have some headcanons of what our twisted wonderland boys will do after they graduate? you can choose only 4 if there is a limit, thank you so much
Twisted Wonderland characters after their graduation at NRC
- This really tickled my brain so I'm going to write assumptions for everyone. I drafted this around last year then only got to post this right now, haha. -
Heartslabyul
Tumblr media
Riddle Rosehearts
After his graduation from NRC, and bagging home the highest honor for an exceptional mage, I can see Riddle furthering his education. If there's such a thing as Ph.D. in Twisted Wonderland, Riddle will pursue that. I can also see him becoming a "Double Doctor," a medical doctor, and a doctor of Philosophy. Not only that but Riddle will also pursue law, along with magical medicine. A doctor and a lawyer, all in one. Riddle would go on to be an internationally recognized mage. He will also be an advocate of Mental Health education, fueled by his past and his mission to never let anyone experience what he went through.
Ace Trappola
I can honestly say I see him being recognized as a famous basketball player or entering the military enforcement of Queendom of Roses along with Deuce. Occasionally, Ace will perform magic tricks along with his brother, which is always a hit of course, someone even offered the Trappola brothers to appear in a reality show but Ace had other plans. In his 3rd year, he will become the Dorm leader of Heartslabyul, while Deuce will be his vice.
Deuce Spade
Will become a high-ranking magical enforcer, his salary will allow him and his family to live comfortably, especially his mom. Once the Queendom of Roses gave Deuce an award as the 'Hero of the Year,' he broke down into tears as he hugged his mom. Will be buddies forever with Ace.
Cater Diamond
Will be a famous vlogger. Be it traveling or fashion, Cater will be a famous influencer. He will also have a successful studio with workshops on how to run a magicam account successfully. If there's a fashion show, he would always be on the VIP list, as he is acquainted with Vil. If he feels burned out, he'll try to stay away from social media. If Cater can't form long relationships, he'll just leave his mark in the world with his vlogs. #LonelyButNotReally
Trey Clover
Owner of a famous bakeshop. His family's shop will prosper under his guidance. On every occasion, their sweets will sold out. One time a magazine listed Trey as the "sexiest pastry chef," and Cater and his other friends will never let him live with it. The Clover's Bakeshop occasionally partners with Mostro Lounge, and when they do, everything sells out within seconds.
Savanaclaw
Tumblr media
Leona Kingscholar
He does not need to work, but he is a genius as Leona is still a prince of a noble family. Have you seen those alpha males ads? Leona will be all of that. A CEO of his own company and at the same time a diplomat of Sunset Savannah to other nations. His business started out as a mining corporation, gradually expanding into construction. A noble man who many people - beastmen and beastwomen - fawn over with. A millionaire. A bachelor. Once, Farena, the current king and his older brother, called to meet with him and Leona put harshly down the phone. Leona's reason for doing this? When he realized that Farena tried to marry him off to a noble from some rich kingdom 'for his future'. Leona's reply? Is a simple scoff and a very deep, "Fuck off."
Ruggie Bucchi
Will be an assistant to Leona. The next generation of Hyenas will not experience poverty as Ruggie did. His all-around skills will come in handy as a secretary. Ruggie will be a finance speaker. He will sometimes get his hands dirty. What? Hyenas are used to it. Fear not, he's still the same old Ruggie, just a little more rich.
Jack Howl
After graduation, Jack will get a lot of offers to be a professional magift player. Leona will offer to sponsor him tho, so he doesn't need to worry about financial things. Will be an advocate of physical health, his muscular physique is no joke. I can see Jack being a well-known magift player and a track and field competitor, with the help of Prof. Vargas as a head coach.
Octavinelle
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto
In every nation, there's a branch of Mostro Lounge. Azul will be listed as the "Top 100 most successful bachelors," along with Jade, possibly Floyd, Vil, and Leona. Azul would go on to accumulate a lot of awards for his splendid business skills. Will own a share in almost all known companies. He'll have to pull strings from Idia to let him invest or buy shares from Jupiter Enterprises. Azul will be compared to the Sea Witch due to how influential he is. Once his mother passed him their restaurant in the Coral Sea, Azul's work will quadruple, and so is his income. Because of him, the mermen's view of octomerpeople will change. But for a darker secret, Azul will be known as the Mediator, and every Mostro Lounge place will be known as a neutral territory for members of the 'other' world. Of course, the Leech twins will still stick with him.
Jade Leech
Jade will inherit their Father's mafia legacy, along with Floyd. The Leech family will prosper under the twins' rule. Jade will open a mushroom business, as to what kind of mushrooms he's selling Jade will smile in response and say it's a fresh mushroom from the mountain. Jade's favorite base of operation would be on land, it's just more fun and chaotic when he watches humans stutter and pass out once he interrogates them. Jade will work as Azul's concierge, working for both him and the Leech family. And in the morning, he'll be the vice manager of Mostro Lounge. But sometimes it does get a little boring. Once a company famous for being greedy with their demands easily relents when they realize it is The Jade Leech that will conduct business with them. Such a shame, Jade would've loved to see the look on their faces.
Floyd Leech
Floyd would be proud of his shoe collection! By now he would have a hundred pair of shoes. Of course, he's still with Jade and Azul, acting as the brawns of the trio. He will make it a point with them to only give him interesting jobs, if it's boring? Floyd would abandon that. One time he learned to drive, he brought his sports car to another country and accidentally got pulled over in the Queendom of Roses, to his surprise it is Mackerel (Deuce) who pulled him over! Floyd paid for the ticket and then went on to hang out with him. Floyd's favorite part of his job is squeezing everyone that owes them unpaid debts!
Though Floyd just doesn't understand why Momma Leech wants to introduce him to a mermaid. Jade is laughing at first, but not anymore once his twin realized that their Momma intends to introduce him to a mermaid too! Floyd will never forget the look on Jade's face - that's probably reflected on him - once their Momma gushes over about 'baby eels'. What? Mermaid eels have little populations. They have to do their part, don't they?
Scarabia
Tumblr media
Kalim Al-Asim
Kalim inherited his father's multi-million business. Through his easygoing personality, Kalim is well-loved by everyone. He established business trade routes with almost every nation, while still honoring his personal ones. An example is with the Felmier's, so that their apples will be enjoyed by everyone in Scarabia. The threats grew along with the Asim's already immense wealth. Don't worry, Kalim by now, will know how to defend himself using his unique magic. He just had to know how to reply with the various marriage proposals going his way, it pains Kalim to reject every single one, you know.
Jamil Viper
After his graduation at NRC, Jamil would take a year or two for himself. He will travel across Twisted Wonderland, and by this time Jamil's perception of the world would change. Finally prioritizing himself and is selfish for once. When he will come back, however, he will be met with a warm welcome from the citizens of Scalding Sands and the Asim and Viper family. Jamil would go on to become a successful businessman and bodyguard best friend of Kalim. But this time, they're on equal footing.
Pomefiore
Tumblr media
Vil Schoenheit
There's no spotlight if there's no Vil Schoenheit. He will become the highest-paid actor for straight 5 years, until Neige just slightly beats him, running off a few hundred thousand madol. But in the same year, Neige surpassed him in pay, Vil went on to win the Best Actor award for his work in a movie as a misunderstood villain protagonist. His movie even screened in the coral sea! As if there's no stopping him, his successful cosmetics company took off Twisted Wonderland by storm, his eye palette alone is sold out within seconds.
Rook Hunt
Oh dear, Rook will also inherit the Hunt's family business. One moment someone can see Rook in Quendom of Roses then the next he would be spotted on Sage Island. Of course, Rook will not stop admiring beauty and arts! He will fund archaeological studies, theater, art museums, galleries, and even beauty pageants. Rook will be one of the art and beauty industry's most important benefactors.
Epel Felmier
Will be known as the "pretty boy of magift." Not in a bad way, but more like a compliment. His talent is honed thanks to his NRC club. Sometimes Epel would attend fashion shows that present him as a "manly man", you know wearing suits and all of that. Because of his new-found fame, the Felmier's apple business will bloom, in part thanks to Kalim.
Ignihyde
Tumblr media
Idia Shroud
Will become the head of S.T.Y.X, but will also manage the Shroud's position in Jupiter Enterprises. On top of that, Idia will develop one of the best MMORPG and FPS games Twisted Wonderland had ever seen. Additionally, Idia won't just stop in developing games, he will also develop magic-infused medical devices that will drastically change the healthcare industry, crediting the Idia Shroud for its invention.
Once a magazine included Idia in their "Top 100 most successful bachelors," he almost sued them if not for Azul, Ortho and his parents convincing him it's a good thing. But Momma and Papa Shroud can't help but wonder when will they have grandkids, the Shroud's need an heir to continue their duties, you know.
Ortho Shroud
Ortho will stay at his brother's side! But his looks will drastically change, if the Ortho from before looks young, the Ortho from the future will have a much taller body, but he will still regain his childlike curiosity. Only the future Ortho is more mature and more open to take time for himself. He will ask Idia to send him off to faraway lands to gather information and to also satiate his curiosity about the real world. Ortho will become independent yet still close to his brother.
Diasomnia
Tumblr media
Malleus Draconia
Malleus' coronation is one of the most liveliest and solemn celebrations Briar Valley had seen for the last 5 centuries. Under King Malleus' rule, his kingdom will prosper. Faes and humans alike will come to a much more common understanding. Although the valley still heavily relies on magic, technology will become available, as a courtesy of the friendship acquaintanceship of Idia.
On some days, Malleus will truly get busy. Managing a country and it's affairs is no small feat. Through trades and partnership with every Kingdom, from Savanaclaw to the Coral Sea courtesy of his two alumni schoolmates from NRC, Briar Valley will prosper. It just gets annoying sometimes when the news reporters, the common folk, the fae senators, and even his own grandmother will ask him about an heir. Malleus still needs to find someone who will stay by his side, and it's not an easy thing to do.
Lilia Vanrouge
Sweet old man Lilia is on his way to retirement. In the chapter of Diasomnia, we learned that his magic is running out. Well, all good things must come to an end. Though his eventual retirement in the Land of the Red Dragon came true, he still returned. And Lilia had his fair share of adventures. Because Malleus is busy with the preparations for his coronation, Lilia is there to help him. On the occasion he's free to do anything, Crowley offered him a teaching position in NRC, which is the spot left open by Professor Trein. Lilia accepted, and for a semester he become a teacher, quitting right after to attend Malleus' coronation.
Lilia liked to think a had lived a full life. He was it all. A fearsome general, a caretaker of the young prince, an adoring father, and a good friend.
Sebek Zigvolt
No one dares to Disrespect the King under my watch! That is what he would occasionally say. If one of Briar Valleys' own Fae advisors disrespects Malleus, expect Sebek to speak, and even draw his sword. Yes, he's part human and half Fae but that doesn't mean he's not powerful enough to defend the king.
With this Sebek will grow in closer relationship with his grandfather and his mortal dad. His parents' dentistry business will expand, and for some time Sebek's face is the model of it, which made him embarrassed, yet he still loves his parents nonetheless.
Silver
I can see Silver honoring his promise to Lilia and staying by Malleus'side. However, that is considering if his feelings don't change. Silver will quickly become one of Briar Valley's most beloved humans, and for some reason, he always gets mistaken as an RSA graduate. Once Vil invited him to cover for a sick model in a fashion show and he declined but Vil already presented his picture to the photographers. For some reason, his picture was leaked to the public and Silver's name is trending for days. Some say he's a child of the king, and others compare him to Neige's beauty. His face was everywhere in magicam, with the hashtags "the most handsome sleepy prince," and the "dreamy prince of dreams."

Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Chapter 1: Spider-catcher
“Hey on your left!”
A man on a bike rushes past you while you are walking. Hands filled with overflowing grocery bags, you had not seen that you had wandered into the bike lane. Jumping out of the way you narrowly avoid getting mowed down by the angry cyclist.
“Mororon!” the man yells back at you
“I'm sorry!” escapes your lips as you shout out to the man who is long zipped by “dick…” you mudder under your breath. Sure you were in the wrong lane but you didn’t see your mistake so he shouldn’t have been so angry with you.
You sigh, taking a mental note: watch out for New York bike riders…stay out of their lane
The short walk from the store ends when you reach your new apartment building, well, new to you. The complex itself was ancient in a bit of a sketchy area but the rent was cheap for New York, so you would not rethink your dwelling too much, though sometimes it was hard to stay optimistic.
When you first moved into the apartment it was…depressing…It had bare walls with some cracks, the smell of smoke completely taking over the place, and decked out with some ancient appliances you were grateful at least worked. The last three days had been spent moving in your furniture, getting a job, and scrubbing down every wall in your apartment to rid of any suspicious grime. Now with your apartment decorated and you living there for the past few days, you felt like you were finally adjusting to the residence.
You hope that once you get your groceries in and have your first home-cooked meal in the place it will definitely feel like home. Being new to living on your own and new to the city everything was taking some…adjusting. Call it cliche but you had always dreamed of moving to New York ever since you were a little girl, so when you got the chance to move up here for school you were eager to jump at the opportunity. Who wouldn’t want to move to the city where dreams are supposed to come true right?
Now that you're living it however it was not the tale of living up your dreams like you had envisioned as a child. In your dreams, you expected to live in a large lavish apartment, unlike the more than modest one you were currently in. You would have tons of friends and go out every day, your going out consists of you going to pick up take-out and as for friends, you didn’t know anyone.
Classes didn’t start for a few days and you started work tomorrow, hopefully, some friendship opportunities will present themselves soon. Another childish thought you had in your mind was, that you would be friends with everyone at your complex, but with the way people seemed less than friendly towards you, that thought was seeming to fade more and more. Just need to stay positive, you haven't even been here a week, don’t let it get you down, was the mantra you just kept repeating in your head.
Pushing through the front door of the complex, you make a beeline for the elevator. There is no way you are going to be carrying all your groceries up the stairs where you live on the 12th floor, no way that is happening! Getting into the elevator after making the journey from the store to your apartment; you're thankful that the cramped elevator is empty so early in the morning.
Living on the 12th floor had its perks but also had its cons, especially when you had a slow elevator. It takes a creaking and shaking eternity to get to your floor; you're sure your ice cream must be starting to melt by now. Finally hearing the ding you get off and walk across your floor. As you set your groceries down, digging for your keys in your purse, slight movement catches your eyes forcing you to look up towards your door.
Right on your door above the knob was the biggest spider you had ever seen. Spiders and you had never been best friends, in no way did you want to kill one, you just thought that it was best they lived their lives away from you and your home. Looking at the spider it seems harmless, it’s not like it seems poisonous or life-threatening. Maybe you can just scare it? Shoo it away? It's huge but maybe it will get scared and run off your door. Just be tough, it's just a spider…a huge spider…with creepy eight legs…and fangs…staring at you….
Shuddering at the thought of the spider you can feel yourself developing arachnophobia by the second. Getting a grip on yourself, you push down the bubbling fear and motion your hand like you're waving the spider off.  Your whole body teases hoping it won't run anywhere near you or worse jump on you. It’s just a dumb spider, what could it really do to you?
Little did you know that this spider was no punk, this spider must have seen a thing or two because instead of being normal and running off it, hissed and you swear it jumped towards you!
The sudden movement of the spider makes you recoil with a startled scream. Now would you usually jump like this? No, but this spider was out for blood you could see it in his evil eight eyes!
As you're moving back in panic, the door across from yours flies open with a guy around your age coming out of it looking alarmed. The sudden appearance startled you causing you to jump away from him, landing your back on the door you were just screaming at. The fluffy-haired guy looks at you with wide eyes not understanding at all what is happening.
Opening your mouth to apologize and give an explanation you turn and see the spider close to your face, The sudden proximity makes you scream again which in turn makes the neighbor scream.
Jumping from your door you grab onto the stranger and hide behind his back using him as a human shield from the spider, “Get it! Get it! Get it!” is all you can manage as you cling to his shirt. His hands are raised in surprise as you paw at his back, keeping your eyes on the spider. His eyes are on you with that same look of confusion on his face as to why some random person is screaming and now clinging to him.
“What are you talking about?” He asks in a confused tone and a hint of frustration.
Looking up at him, pointing to your door you're an incoherent mess, “H-h-huge spider!”
“Huge spider…” He repeats before he looks at your door and sees the spider, in your eyes it’s an aggressive beast, to his eyes it's a common spider seen around the building all the time.
Understanding the situation he sighs and you take it as a sign to let go of the person you don’t even know. Watching as he shakes his head and goes back into his apartment you feel your heart sink that you won’t be getting help for your spider problem. Approaching your door you look around trying to figure out a plan, but suddenly a hand is tapping your shoulder. Turning around, you see he has reappeared with a paper and an empty Chinese take-out box nudging you to move out of the way.
Standing back you watch as he effortlessly places the box over the spider and then slides the paper under it. As you're watching him trap the creature you start to really take in his appearance. Looking at his outfit you see a worn-out T-shirt (crumpled in the back thanks to your grabbing) and plaid sleep pants, brunet hair that looks like it hasn’t seen a brush all morning. Now that you're looking at him closely, you can admire his athletic build with some great arms and large hands….damn…plus that face, though he looks completely exhausted he's still…kinda cute.
Once the spider is caught he closes the box and turns to you, quickly you adjust your gaze from his hands back to his face. Though when you look up at him with a smile you are only met with a look of annoyance, alright seems peeved. Wanting to lighten up the situation and thank him you go to say thank you but he just walks past you with a grumble.
“Dramatic…”.
Dramatic! The word echoes in your head leaving you slack-jawed as you watch him leave down the hall to the elevator disappearing inside. How can he call you dramatic, that thing was ferocious and sure you screamed and cowered but you're not dramatic! Plus he doesn't even know you. In a huff you finally get your keys and unlock your door, turning your head towards the elevator then to the door across from yours you roll your eyes.
Putting away your groceries you're still thinking about your grumbling neighbor, so much for you thanking him for his help. If he wants to call you dramatic you would be dramatic and not thank him. So much for the possibility of having the spider-catching neighbor as a friend.
As you're putting away your stuff your frustration must hit a peak because you decide it's time for you to give him a piece of your mind. Nobody just insults you like nothing! Who knows maybe he would respect you for it. Going over to your door you open it and see him about to enter his apartment turning his head to look at you with an unimpressed gaze.
Stepping out, you fold your arms before speaking, “Excuse me, but what gives you the right to think it’s okay to call me dramatic?”
Turning to face you he mirrors your stance “Oh, you heard that? I mean you were the one screaming over a spider.”
“A huge and scary spider”
Peter holds his hands up in mock defense, “You know you're right, I barely made it out with my life.” he says in a voice dripping in sarcasm. - great he's a smartass…
“Whatever, thanks a lot, next time I will handle it on my own.”
“Just make sure to keep the noise down next time.”
Rolling your eyes you shoot him a dirty look as you start closing the door,
“Just wait till you see the cockroaches…” he mutters
Your motion comes to a quick halt “What?!”
“Nothing~”
With that last remark, he shuts the door leaving you with your thoughts of all the other creepy critters this place could be littered with. He’s messing with you, right?
Right?!

do you think i have forgotten (about you)
Tumblr media
a part two to come pick me up.
summary: eddie finds himself out of jail and right back on your doorstep. running from his past while trying desperately to fix the mess he had left you in only leads to complicated situations.
a/n: so this is actually not what i had expected to post lmfao but similar to part one i reread this in my drafts and literally fell in love.. like it needed to be posted.
18+. smut, smoking, drug and alcohol use. mentions of jail and creepy therapists. angst.. sweet sweet angst. as before, this is stevexreader however this part is way more about eddie and r.
you can’t lie. the last few months had been pretty tough, on both you and steve. through no fault of his own though.
you were just.. unwell. perhaps you always had been and the process of seeing someone you regarded as your best friend beat the shit out of someone and subsequently be jailed for it had brought all those feelings up.
‎♡‧₊˚
not to mention the emotional toll of him dipping in and out of your life and the countless other reckless shit he’d pulled you into before.
currently things were stable, yours and steve’s relationship was good, you were going to work and succeeding in being mostly sober. a little help from a short stay in a psychiatric ward and some nice new pills had you feeling semi-okay again.
it had started not long after eddie was sentenced, you’d sat in the docks of the courtroom and watched the judge bang the gavel down as he was sentenced to twenty four months. it stung knowing that he’d gotten himself in this position because you’d dared to kiss your boyfriend in front of him.
nevertheless, a few short weeks after the horrid court date you’d suffered a complete breakdown at a party. throwing anything you could get your hands on, sobbing hysterically as steve tried his best to calm you. right in front of everybody, their gawping eyes prying as you were escorted out by the police who had then issued a caution and had recommended to the judge that you needed some sort of mental health intervention.
at the time it was humiliating. the worst part being that it felt like everyone around you was walking on eggshells, trying to coddle you and tell you that it was all okay. you’d known it wasn’t. maybe it could be, but for right then, no.
coming back into the apartment and the real world had been quite frankly, awful. missing the safety of the ward, you couldn’t hurt anyone in there.
steve had been your saviour through it all. making sure he was there for every visit with a great big smile on his. he was gentle, giving you your meds, making sure you were eating and he’d even found you a job, helping you apply, christ he’d even ran through a mock interview with you, putting on a deep voice and asking you silly questions.
and do you know what?
eventually things got back to some sense of normality. braving your first gathering, trembling as you walked through the door, terrified that everyone would hate you only to find that all anyone had really cared about was making sure you were well again.
and that lands us here, finally finishing a dragging shift and traipsing home to collapse into bed to wait for steve to get home.
except, nearing the front door you notice it’s cracked open slightly. the door handle looks busted and you’re ninety percent sure that either someone was currently in your apartment or had been in and ransacked it.
you push the door open with one finger, it freaks loudly as it opens slowly, startling the intruder who curses and drops whatever they were holding.
‘you have five seconds to get the fuck out,’ you warn, creeping from behind the door frame nervously.
there’s a figure stood in the middle of the room, back turned to you who very slowly puts his hands in the air, surrendering.
he turns to face you, a shit-eating grin on his face and you finally recognise the cocky face staring back at you.
‘eddie?!’
he breathes a sigh of relief, ‘holy shit i was startin’ to think you’d moved out and i’d just broken into some strangers apartment,’ cackling as his arms outstretch to hug you.
‘what the fuck- what are you doing here? you’re supposed to be in jail!’ in utter disbelief that he was stood before you, debating whether pinching yourself would wake you up from this strange dream.
‘i got out! duh,’ he grins, making his way towards you, arms still outstretched.
‘you.. you got out? what? you’re not supposed to be out for like another year.. i don’t- i’m not understanding,’ carefully wrapping your arms around his shoulders as he pulls you into a hug.
he felt stronger, sturdy as his arms wrap around your waist. the hug lasts for what feels like an eternity until you back to properly examine his face and to once again check that you weren’t hallucinating.
‘i can’t believe you’re actually here.. how are you? i’m sorry i’ve been.. busy,’ trying to recover over the last few months had meant that you’d sorta neglected eddie, his last letter still in the clutter on your desk somewhere.. unanswered.
unfortunately for him, you’d had a few more important things to focus on. like trying not to break down and keep your relationship with steve afloat.
‘i’m good, i’m always good.. what’ve you been up to? i missed your letters,’ it was a simple statement but you’d never truly comprehend just how much receiving anything from you had meant to him, how much it kept him going.
you let go of him fully, motioning for him to take a seat, ‘it’s a super long story..’ sighing as you jam the bursted door shut, steve would have to look at it on his day off.
‘well it’s a good thing i’ve got time,’ collapsing into the cushions, making himself right at home.
-
you and eddie are sat on the couch smoking when the key turns in the door and steve walks in, looking just as exhausted as he did when he left this morning. the tiny shadow of a smile that was on his face is dropped the second he see’s eddie, replaced with a state of pure confusion.
‘what the fuck?’ he exclaims, dropping his bag onto the floor as eddie clambers off of the sofa to greet him.
steve’s face is a picture, eyebrows knitted together as eddie’s hand claps his back, ‘you’re supposed to be in prison?’
eddie pulls back, holding onto steves shoulder’s, ‘and you’re supposed to be happy to see me,’ faux-offended by steve’s confused stature.
‘no.. i am, what? why are you out?’
eddie shrugs him off, coming back to the couch, ‘ehh it’s a long story.. come.. sit, how was work, big boy?’ taking the spliff from your outstretched hand to offer to steve.
steve plonks himself down next to you, placing your legs over his thighs instead of the couch, ‘yeah.. it was alright, i’m sorry- why the fuck are you in my living room and not in federal prison?’ taking the burning joint from eddie’s fingers.
‘i got out,’ eddie offers back, the exact same thing he’d said to you. you had come to the conclusion that his departure from jail had perhaps not been entirely legal but it was way easier to brush it off rather than trying to probe him.
steve narrows his eye’s, obviously also not buying his bullshit but decides instead to smoke whatever had been handed to him, humming as he exhales a thick cloud of smoke.
‘i said that he could stay here.. just for a few days, if that’s okay?’ you ask, looking up at your boyfriend with hopeful eyes.
he pauses, contemplating if harbouring a, presumed, escaped convict was really a great idea, ‘uhh.. yeah i’m sure a few days is fine..’ he didn’t sound so sure himself.
‘thanks man,’ eddie nods, eyeing the door to his old bedroom.
the thing is, when eddie was convicted, his uncle had come to collect most of his stuff, taking it back to hawkins in his van. you’d thought he’d be locked up for at least two years so sending his things back to hawkins was the smartest idea. that meant when you guys moved out, you weren’t left to deal with his mountains of crap.
you catch him looking, feeling a tad guilty that he’d come back to nothing, ‘the bed’s still in there but.. it’s mostly storage now,’ scrunching your nose as you grimace.
‘that’s alright.. anything’s better than prison,’ he jokes, offering a saddened chuckle.
‘yeah.. exactly,’ not that you had much idea what prison was like, but from what eddie had told you, your living room floor would be an improvement.
the three of you spend a few hours right there on the couch, listening to eddie’s tales from jail, entangled with your stories of all the thing he’d missed. steve nudges you at some point, muttering something about bed which you agree with, rushing around to find eddie a spare blanket.
‘you’ll be okay in here?’ you ask, poised in the doorway.
‘yeah it’s great.. thank you,’ he smiles, sitting down on the edge of his old bed, peering around the now mostly empty room.
it felt a little suffocating if he was honest, the sheer amount of memories these blank four walls held. he swore he could hear echoes of your laugh from the times before, remembering the nights where you’d stumble back here and subsequently pass out in a heap on his bed. he shakes his head slightly, ridding himself of the thought before it got too deep.
‘okay, well.. goodnight,’ flashing him a tight-lipped smile before closing the door and making your way to your own room.
steve is stood facing the window, already stripped out of his clothes, ready for bed. he spins when he hears the door click shut, walking over to where you stood undressing with a grin, hands finding their place on your waist.
you hum at the feeling of his palms on your skin, ‘what’re you doing?’ shimmying out of your horrendous grey work trousers.
his lips softly press against the back of your neck and maybe it’s the weed or maybe it’s spite but he can’t help himself, fingers coming down to mess with the waistband of your panties. placing your hand over his to stop him from going any further.
‘we can’t,’ you hush, acutely aware that eddie was just a few doors down and would most certainly hear.
‘we can.. you’ll just have to be quiet,’ murmuring against the back of your neck, your hand doing absolutely nothing to really try and stop him. ‘can you do that for me?’
he travels further down, past the flimsy waistband, feeling his smirk widen against your skin as you sigh softly, sliding your hand onto his forearm, using it for leverage while his middle finger begins to circle your already sensitive clit.
your sex life hadn’t been what it was in the beginning, both of you busy with work and mental health crises that it was now more of a rarity to find the time. it’s not really lost on you as to why steve is so eager for it tonight but you couldn’t help but to feel at least a little turned on by this sudden bout of possessiveness.
your eyes flutter closed as he adds another finger to the equation, letting your body lean back against his bare chest, ‘my god,’ you moan softly, leaving crescent moon shapes indented in his skin.
‘hmm? is that good, baby?’ his plump, pink lips pressing gentle kisses to you neck and shoulders, teeth grazing the agile skin. he’s unforgiving and really not trying to be quiet at all.
it was definitely spite.
you can feel his erect cock against your ass, unknowingly writhing around, brushing up against him. his fingers hastily leave the safety of your now sodden underwear, manoeuvring your body to face him.
‘you’re such an asshole,’ you hush, gripping onto his arms for balance, walked backwards towards the bed.
a menacing smirk plastered on his face as he falls on top of you, knowing full well that eddie could definitely hear your soft pants and the way your lips echoed his name. stevestevesteve.
his fingers are brushing the hair from your face, making sure you were looking at him. it’s disgusting how attractive you find this. steve wasn’t usually one for such outward jealousy but you couldn’t say you hated it. legs wrapping around his torso after he had slipped your underwear off.
you don’t even attempt to conceal the whimper that ripples through your throat when he slides into your cunt. gripping onto his shoulders as the bed begins to creak, headboard knocking into the dry wall, unapologetic with his movements.
completely unashamed.
-
you’re eternally grateful that eddie doesn’t mention anything the next morning though he avoids steve’s eye and keeps his head low until he leaves for work. breathing an almost undetected sigh of relief when the door clicks shut.
the pair of spend most of the day lounging on the couch in front of the television, watching the overdue videos steve had neglected to return. the darkness eventually creeps up on you. the moon shining through the windows.
‘c’mon.. let’s go out,’ eddie nudges your knee with his, a devilish grin plastered across his face. he’d been bored shitless all day, as much as he enjoyed the mundane with you.. he wanted to go out. feel that rush through his veins as you got into something you shouldn’t.
‘i shouldn’t.. i’ve been doing good lately, it’s.. i can’t,’ sinking further into the sofa. you wanted to go out, really. but you and eddie going out alone together was a recipe for disaster.
‘and that’s why you deserve a treat.. c’mon, i know you want to,’ egging you on, now poking your knee with his finger, his other hand gripping onto the warm beer can.
you ponder for a second, pursing your lips as you weigh up the pros and cons. you don’t have to get wasted.. you could go out with eddie and be back before steve got home from work. yeah. you could do that.
‘where?’
eddie’s smile widens, he’d anticipate a hell of a lot more nagging and pleading than this, ‘fucking.. anywhere, the night is young and so are we.’
‘okay.. but, we’re having a normal night.. nothing crazy and i wanna be back here before steve is, got it?’ raising your eyebrows as you down the last sliver of wine.
‘absolutely.. whatever you want,’ eddie chuckles, slapping his knees as he stands from the couch, ‘c’mon.. get dressed.’
you stare up at him for a moment before getting up from the couch and slinking into yours and steve’s room. he wouldn’t be happy about this but if you were home and in bed before he was, he wouldn’t have much to complain about and if he did, he’d get over it.
and hey, maybe you could prove to him that you were okay now. that you were ready and able to handle things on your own.
-
everyone goes absolutely crazy when eddie walks in, almost as if he’d been locked up for a year. there are a few unhappy murmurs, worried onlookers who had been there that night.
but he doesn’t seem to care, shaking hands and chatting to everyone that came up to him. people handing him cups of mystery liquor which eventually got passed onto you.
you’re perched next to him on the couch, drinking the vile tasting liquid without a second thought. the odd person still coming up to him in shock, asking all sorts about what life was like on the inside.
and he just laughs and tell them the same generic story about earning his way and how eventually people listened to him. you doubt much of it is actually true but let him continue nonetheless. what did you know about prison?
bedsides, you’d seen the scars that now littered his knuckles and forearms. how his muscles had grown and the way his nose now bent slightly to the left. he must’ve done something to earn them.
your head is pretty fuzzy the first time the plate full of mystery white powder is passed around. respectfully declining and mumbling about sticking to drink.
but by the second time it comes your way, you’re glancing down at the porcelain with eager eyes. one tiny line couldn’t hurt, right? you still had plenty of time to sober up and get home before steve.
so you pick up the rolled up note, eddie’s eyes watching like a hawk, ‘hey.. you sure?’ his own jaw clenching from his previous line.
‘it’s fine,’ you nod reassuringly, holding one nostril and sniffing the pre-cut line, sniffing harshly. you’d forgotten how much it stung, making your eyes water as you pass the plate onwards.
you sit back into the couch, watching as the conversation roars around you. waiting for that sweet, sweet feeling when it finally hit.
and oh boy, does it.
one second you’re sat on the couch and the next you’re pulling eddie up onto his feet, trying to make him dance along to the pounding music with you. it all sounded so good. your body warm and loose. heart pounding in your chest as the beat vibrates through your limbs.
you’re not sure how long you’re dancing for, keeping your eyes closed while other people start getting up to join you.
not even questioning the second line when it re-emerges. still slowly sipping on what was now a dark liquor, bitter in taste, burning your throat on the way down.
eddie’s hand gingerly touches your waist causing you to pull your eyes to him. he’s dancing too, clutching onto the beer bottle, pupils dilated as they cling to you. cling to your body. moving in time with his.
everything’s a little blurry but you keep your eyes steady on eddie, smiling as the music distorts in your ears. it sounded robotic and weird but still had you wiggling your hips in time with the odd beat.
his other hand meets your waist, more confidently this time, pulling your body towards his. you think nothing of it, focussed on moving in time to the music.
eddie’s hand moves up to cup your cheek, the party bleating on around you as he tips your chin up towards his. a soft smile on his face as your eyes meet his fully.
the next few seconds happen so quickly that you’re not even sure if it actually happened.
his lips crash against yours, pressing himself to your chest, hand clinging to your cheek. he’s desperate with it, hungry and insatiable.
the magic dust you’d just inhaled must have softened your inhibitions because you’re kissing him back. palm pressed against his chest, fingers curling into his t-shirt.
until you finally realise exactly what you’re doing.
pulling yourself away from him, stumbling backwards as you blink up at him. had you actually just kissed him? no, why the fuck had he kissed you?
‘what the fuck are you doing?’ you exclaim, mind still hazy under the influence of whatever narcotics they were passing around.
your stomach twists. steve was probably sat at home waiting for you to get back, worried sick about where you’d gone. all the while you’re kissing his best friend at a party he had no idea was happening. it makes your stomach twist, guilt coursing through your chest.
you back away from eddie, tripping over another party goers outstretched legs as you go. head pounding, hands tingling. everything surrounding you had become a massive blur of flashing lights and distorted faces.
‘fuck.. wait!’ eddie calls out from the living room but you’re already gone, pushing past the gaggle of people in the hallway as you fumble for the doorknob.
the cold air hitting you the second the door is open, you hadn’t brought a jacket. or had you? you can’t really remember.
there are people strewn across the front yard, watching as you stumble down the path, fumbling for your phone in you pocket. the letters all jumble into one as you click through searching for steve's contact. slamming the green button the second you recognise the slight curve of the s.
he answers on the first ring, ‘hello? where are you?’ you’d missed the tens of missed calls from his number.
‘i’m.. i don’t know,’ sobbing into the receiver as one of the onlookers from the party approaches you, ‘where are we?’
from what you can make out, it’s a young girl, she looks worried as she takes the phone from your hand and places it to her ear, telling steve whatever street you were on. her spare hand reaches out to rub your back, keeping you close to her body as steve fucking sprints from your apartment to the address.
eddie makes absolutely zero attempts to try and find you, assuming that you’d already run off home. fuck it, he was out now. might as well prolong the inevitable argument with steve for as long as possible.
when steve arrives, he’s practically frantic, taking you from the kind girl as he leads you off home. his arm keeping your body held upright as you wail the entire way home.
‘steve..’ you sniffle, being guided into the empty apartment, ‘we kissed- eddie kissed me.. i didn’t mean to, i promise,’ clinging onto his neck as you’re lead into your bedroom.
he’s weirdly silent, placing you gently onto the bed, taking off your shoes before sitting down on the edge of the mattress.
‘have you taken anything?’ he questions, choosing to ignore your confession, for his own sanity mostly.
you nod into the pillow, sprawled out on the mattress as the room spins around you. it’s dizzying, and not just the room spinning but the fact that steve was still so gentle even after your admission.
‘what? what d’you take?’
‘i don’t know.. coke i think.’
he nods, swallowing the growing fury in his throat, ‘i’ll get you some water, try and sleep yeah?’
he goes to get up but you’re already grabbing onto his forearm, keeping him firmly on the bed, ‘don’t go.. please,’ your voice hoarse from the party.
god, you thought. you sound utterly pitiful, ashamed that even after all he had done for you, you couldn’t hold your shit together on your own and were still relying on steve.
‘okay,’ he whispers, kicking his shoes off and swinging his legs over and onto the bed, sitting up on the pillows rather than joining you properly.
his arm snakes around your back, lifting your body ever so slightly to slide his arm under, pulling you onto his warm chest. stubbly chin coming to rest atop of your head.
you nestle your head into his cotton shirt, ‘i love you,’ head rising with every breath he took, closing your eyes and attempting to fall asleep despite the fact it felt like there was something stabbing into the side of your brain.
-
steve’s sat, deadpanned on the couch when eddie attempts to creep back in. startled by his presence in the darkened room. by this time, the birds had begun to chirp as the first rays of sunlight crept through the blinds.
‘shit man..’ eddie clutches his chest, ‘you scared me,’ he fumbles his way through the room, still pretty intoxicated, lips sore from chewing on them all night.
steve blinks, scrunching up his face as the other boy takes a seat next to him. eddie’s sure he knows. you had definitely told him. jesus christ, why wouldn’t you? he fucked up. again.
‘you can’t stay here anymore,’ steve states, stoic.
he wasn’t letting much on here. eddie almost wishes he’d just beat his ass and get it over with at least it’d be better than this creepy shit he had going on.
‘bro.. i’m sorry, i was fucked up.. i don’t know what the hell i was doing,’ he’s staring wide-eyed at steve who’s staring straight ahead, jaw tense, ‘shit, punch me if you want.. god knows i’d deserve it.’
‘i don’t care,’ steve presses his tongue to the back of his teeth, ‘you come back and you fuck everything up.. do you know how hard i’ve tried to help her.. all these meds and doctors appointments,’ steve’s shoulder’s slump, ‘fuck man, i even had to take her to this creepy ass therapist and try not to beat the shit out of him every time i dropped her off.. d’you know how hard that was?’ he sounds desperate now, dropping the weird, unsettling facade, turning to eddie with a genuine look of hurt upon his face.
eddie’s mouth opens to reply, but he has nothing to say. hasn’t a clue how to answer that because he didn’t know. yeah, you’d told him about it and how steve hadn’t left your side throughout it all but he had no idea that this was how steve had felt.
‘no,’ steve scoffs, ‘no you don’t know.. because you weren’t there,’ he sighs before continuing, ‘you didn’t have to watch the love of your life be dragged away because some judge had deemed her crazy. you weren’t there week in, week out in that hospital.. helpless.’
steve wouldn’t ever think of you as a burden but fuck, he needed to tell literally anyone the shit he had bottled up and eddie was now the (un)willing participant to catch the brunt of his frustration.
eddie swallows, staring out into the dark room, ‘i didn’t know.. i’m sorry,’ he’s scrambling now, trying to think of something, anything to say that could help, but he can’t. in steve’s eyes, he’s the one who continually seems to ruin shit for you. ruin you.
‘so no, i don’t want to hit you because you kissed my girlfriend but i do want to fucking kill you for coming in here and messing her up all over again,’ steve spits, his words like venom as they hit eddie square in the face.
any traces of intoxication had been pummelled from his body, head beginning to pound from the impending hangover, chest heavy under the weight of steve’s words.
his eyes squeeze shut. he was a fuck up and he knew it. he wasn’t sure why he’d even done it. you just looked so pretty and blissful and.. and you’d smiled at him the way you used to and he’d thought that maybe that had meant something. the few seconds that you’d kissed him back had felt like euphoria, for the first time in so long everything felt right again.
steve interrupts his train of self-pitying thought by standing from the couch, turning to walk away but pauses, ‘i’ll help you find somewhere tomorrow.. maybe nance n’ all will let you stay,’ and even through all of this steve couldn’t help but be kind to the man.
that’s what hit eddie the hardest, that even though he had hurt his best friend.. he was still stood in front of him throwing him a line and offering a sense of patience and understanding that eddie hadn’t felt in far too long.
he watches in silence as steve slinks off to your shared bedroom, head hanging low in utter shame. he’d never admit aloud, and especially not to steve, but the thought of you was the one thing getting him through his sentence.
the first few months were pretty rocky, having to prove himself time and time again, resulting in a multitude of different injuries but at the end of the day, he’d climb into his bunk and re-read the letters you’d sent. thumbing the pages until they were yellowed and worn. the mere thought of you still thinking about him was enough to make him get out of bed each morning.
he peers down at his scarred hands, tracing over the glistening white indentations. they all told their own individual story, the big one that ran across the large part of his hand was the worst after being slashed with a makeshift shiv during a fight. he was quite lucky really, his hand had taken the majority of the damage and had meant he wasn’t left to bleed out on the floor.
so he’d gotten stitches, kept his mouth shut and things had started to change. and yet still, every night he’d go to bed thinking of your face, telling himself that it wasn’t long to go.
you were his saving grace. the only thing that had stopped him slipping into darkness. he’d thought about it plenty, hurting himself or one of the douchebag inmates he shared the small space with. at least that way he’d get moved into solitary, maybe he’d even prove himself to the other guys.
-
you keep quiet when steve comes into your bedroom, unsure of whether to let him know you had practically heard their entire conversation. the mattress dips when he gets into bed, exhaling softly and making sure the blanket is covering both of you.
he sits in silence for a moment, you can feel his eyes burning into your face before he eventually settles in and lies back on the pillow.
‘are you mad at me?’ you squeak, gazing at him from tired eyes.
your voice startles him, so sure that you were still asleep but he answers quickly, ‘no, never,’ turning on his side to face you, inches from your face. it felt so intimate like this, vulnerable.
‘i heard what you said.. i’m sorry for..’ your bottom lip wobbles and you try hard to blink away the brimming tears, ‘for putting you through that.’
he’s immediately comforting you, placing a warm hand on your sodden cheek, ‘you’re okay.. it’s okay, you didn’t do anything,’ steve’s gut twisted, he hadn’t meant for you to hear any of it and the thought of you feeling guilty for eddie’s sake pricked at his heart.
you nod, not completely believing his words but for the sake of not causing a problem so early in the morning, deciding to just accept it. no matter how much it had been parroted to you, there was no accepting that none of this was your fault.
‘it’s just the way your brain is wired,’ dr. foster had said during one of your sessions, ‘but i’m here to make it all better,’ his eyes were narrowed, carefully watching you from his leather chair.
the memory alone makes you shudder, he’d been all for this authentic, organic approach.. hosting the sessions in his home and perhaps at times, becoming a little too familiar. his hand patting your knee as you spoke, asking creepy questions about your relationship with steve and overstepping a shit ton of boundaries. he had these icy blue eyes that lingered on yours for too long, there was something deeply unsettling about the way they narrowed when steve was mentioned. the utter anger they held when you brought up eddie. oh no, he really didn’t like eddie.
he’d been the one to suggest that you slow down with the letters to eddie, telling you that focusing on recovery was more important. it had worked in his favour anyway, the letters becoming the least of your concerns as you navigated recovery.
nonetheless, he didn’t last long. you were still in that mellow adjustment period, getting used to the meds when steve had informed you that dr. foster was no longer going to be your therapist. something about a conflict of schedules but you weren’t sure how true that really was.
-
it had been a few weeks since you’d last seen eddie, unsure of where he was or what trouble he’d gotten himself into. maybe even a minuscule part of you was hoping that he’d got himself arrested, at least that way you’d know he was safe inside and not wrecked in a ditch somewhere.
for the most part, you’d managed to put him to the back of your mind. it was only when things got quiet did you worry about him. deep down, you knew it was for the best. you couldn’t be around him without that niggling voice in the back of your head creeping back up. there was too much history there.
and steve had been so wonderful. you’re not sure you’d ever felt love like this. so transparent and pure, so void of expectations that he could see you at your worst and still be just as content to love you.
it all makes your heart ache, were you enough for steve even when you were like this? he had bore witness to the most horrific times of your life and yet, he’d be there everyday with a smile on his face and an open heart prepared for whatever that day may bring.
he’d taken the day off of work to purely spend it with you. granted, you’d only wanted to sit on the couch and watch a bunch of terrible movies with him but it was good enough. you’re not sure how long you’ve now been on this couch, but you knew it was late as the street lights glimmer that harsh orange through the blinds.
this film has you falling asleep, steve’s pick, obviously. you’d slid down the couch to rest your head on his lap, eyelids weighing heavy as sleep threatens to take over.
until you’re both startled by the incessant banging on the door, fist pummelling into the already brittle wood. your head snaps upward towards steve, pouting at the rude awakening. who on earth could find the need to pound the door at this time?
‘you expectin’ anyone?’ steve asks curiously, sliding your head from his thigh, very cautiously getting off of the couch to answer the door.
‘no? robin, maybe?’ unless robin had turned into a rabid zombie, you were sure it probably wasn’t her on the other side.
steve peers through the peep hole, seemingly taken aback but what or whoever he sees on the other side, ‘shit..’ cursing under his breath as he slides the chain from the door, opening it just slightly.
‘what?’ petrified by his reaction, sitting up on the couch to prepare for the impending insanity on the other side.
‘jesus man.. what are you doing here?’ he’s pushed aside as what looks like one eddie munson barges through the door, gasping for air and looking worse for wear.
he’s clutching his knees, doubled over as he tries to catch his breath, ‘i fucking.. ran the whole way here..’
if you’re being honest, he looks terrible. hair limp as it hangs around his face, clothes dirtied and you can’t see his face properly but you’re sure there’s a shiner of a bruise on his cheek.
‘what are you doing? what’s wrong?’ you fret, swinging your legs over the side of the couch as steve closes the door, bolting it up again in hopes that whatever eddie was running from was not following him.
he exhales before standing up straight, wiping the sweat from his forehead, ‘i need your help.. both of you,’ looking to steve who was stood with his hand on his hip, concerned about the inevitable mess eddie had just welcomed back into your lives.
‘why? where have you been?’
the last you’d heard from him, nancy had, very reluctantly, agreed to let him stay in their couch for a few days until he got himself sorted. but they’d woken up the next morning to find that he was no longer on said couch, not a trace of him left behind. he was completely unreachable, no phone, no idea where he had escaped off to and absolutely no one had seen or heard from him.
initially it had been a frenzy to try and find him until you collectively realised that he didn’t want to be found this time. and you had to mourn him all over again.
‘steve, d’you still know how to make fakes?’ completely ignoring your question, blinking at a puzzled steve.
your eyes flit to steve, unaware that he apparently had a history in counterfeit goods. perhaps a crucial bit of information he’d glossed over there.
‘not anymore.. what the fuck do you need that for?’
‘you know anyone that does? i’m desperate man.. i- i’ll pay,’ eddie pants, ‘name your price,’ chest heaving as he stands in the middle of your living room. he felt out of place here now, stuck out like a sore thumb.
steve ponders for a second, ‘uhh.. i dunno, maybe.. what’ve you done?’ sighing softly.
‘i need to leave the country.. i fucked up.. big time,’ eyes flitting to you with a certain sadness. even now, he didn’t want to disappoint you yet it seemed to be all he could do.
‘what’ve you done?’ you press, chewing on the inside of your cheek. mind running to the worst possibly conclusion. murder wasn’t out of the equation if you were honest.
eddie runs a dirtied, ringed hand over his face, ‘you know how i’m kinda s’posed to be in jail right now?’ it was already glaringly obvious that he hadn’t been released early.
‘yeah..’
‘well, i uh- i paid some guys off, they said they could get me out.. get me away from here,’ only now is he realising how fucking stupid that sounded.
‘eddie.. what?’ you exclaim, astonished by the sheer stupidity he constantly displayed. you’d thought that maybe he’d have learnt something from jail, that was the point of it, wasn’t it? learn from your mistakes and better yourself.
‘look, it doesn’t matter.. they’re asking for more money and i don’t have it,’ he says exasperated, ‘i need to disappear.. just for a little while, til they forget about it,’ eyes steady on you, as if to seek your approval.
you blink, where was he even planning to go? were you just never going to see him again?
‘i can’t get you outta the country but.. i might have a friend that can help,’ steve’s voice pipes up, tearing your eyes from eddie to look at him.
‘how?’ you exclaim, wondering what other things he had kept secret from you.
‘my friend’s out in california.. i think he’d put you up there,’ nodding at eddie, he probably didn’t deserve this kindness but steve couldn’t just leave him stranded. there was too much history to ever turn his back on his friend, even now, after everything, he was still holding his hand out for eddie.
‘that’d be.. fuck, that’d be.. good,’ eddie nods along, appreciative of anything you could do for him. turning to meet your gaze once more.
he knows this is it.
there wasn’t any coming back from this. no next time. it was california or it was death. and he sure as shit wasn’t a fan of the second option.
you think, deep down, that you know it too.
the likelihood of seeing him again is next to nothing. if he didn’t get himself killed, he’d certainly never be coming back here. this wasn’t for him, never had been really. well, maybe once upon a time when you looked at him without that sadness in your eye it had been.
when he thought back to it, he was sure the he knew you’d never loved him, he’d just been pretending for so long that his mind had played tricks on him, made him believe it. that’s why he’d lashed out that night, he’d convinced himself that you were in love with him. but you weren’t, and his heart had realised that fact quicker than his head had.
steve disappears into your bedroom in search of his phone, leaving you two alone in the living room. everything you want to say stays unsaid. heavy as it lingers between you. there’s not really much you can say in this moment that wouldn’t make things worse.
instead, you just nod.
as if to say that he could go. he could let you go.
eddie understands. but he’s not sure he ever will.

Push Through
Summary: Your ADHD makes it difficult for you to focus like normal. When you spiral, Bucky helps you calm down.
A/N: Things about this may seem crazy and unrealistic but as someone with ADHD I can confirm that I have had this exact experience. (Minus the sexy supersolider to help me unfortunately) TW: Mental health, lack of sleep and eating, ADHD, burnout
The room was an absolute disaster. Clothes all over the floor, endless cups of coffee, water, and tea taking up space on the desk, and there you were at the center of it. Sitting on your floor with your laptop, typing away furiously. Being in college and an avenger was already extremely difficult and it was even harder while struggling with ADHD.
You had gotten home from a three day mission yesterday, so stressed about the first draft of your thesis paper that was due in two days that you didn’t even shower or change before taking your medication and getting to work. A half-eaten sandwich sat beside you but you didn’t even feel hungry. Your meds suppressed your appetite and had you focused on one thing and one thing only: your homework.
Bucky was away from the tower on his own mission and while you couldn’t wait for him to get home safely, you could hardly even think about it in your current frenzy. You hadn't slept since getting home, taking another pill every time you felt the last one wear off. When your medication started to subside, it made you feel horrible. Jittery, but also depressed and just generally like life had no meaning. It was an awful feeling, especially when you knew it was caused by medication that you needed for your brain to function normally.
The bedroom door creaked open but you didn’t even hear it. You didn’t look up from the words you were typing as your boyfriend’s body filled the frame. You usually greeted him by running into his arms but this time, it was like you didn’t even know he was there. And you practically didn’t. The quiet voice of your subconscious whispered to you to go greet him, but the dominant hyper-focus muted that thought into silence.
“Hellooo,” Bucky called playfully, whistling to you to try to get your attention. You still didn’t look up, grabbing the can of Redbull beside you and taking a sip. “Y/N!” He said, loudly.
You shook your head and finally tore your eyes away from the screen. “Oh my god, hi! You’re home! How was the mission? Are you hurt? Did it go well? Any scratches?” You rapidly fired questions at him, the combination of your medication, caffeine and lack of sleep causing you to be in a manic-like state.
Bucky knew about your struggles with ADHD. He knew how hard it was for you to function everyday like everyone else. He saw as you read a passage of your schoolwork over and over and over again because the words just turned to mush on the page. He had listened to you cry at your frustrations over why school was so hard and how you had to put so much brain power and effort into every little task. He knew how you hated the crash of your medication but you needed them to survive, a constant struggle that you had to pick every morning. Did you wanna be able to focus today and not be able to get out of bed after 4pm, or did you wanna be happy but not be able to do a single productive thing?
“Woah, there, take a breath,” he laughed. His eyes scanned the room, looking at the mess surrounding your frame. And he noticed that you were still in your uniform. “Hey, I thought you got home yesterday. Why are you still in your uniform?”
You looked down at yourself, realizing that you had in fact not changed. “Oh, shit. I sat down to do my homework as soon as I got home and-” you stopped abruptly. “Wait, did you say yesterday?”
He looked at you, confusion clouding his expression. “Yeah. It’s Sunday, babe.”
“No, no, that’s impossible. I just got home I’ve only been working for…” you clicked your phone, displaying the date and time. “26 hours…”
“What did you just say? You’ve been working for 26 hours? Babe, have you eaten? Slept? Have you even gone to the bathroom? How did you not know it had been that long?” He was extremely concerned for you. He had seen you manically power through assignments before, but nothing like this.
“I…uh,” you ran your fingers through your hair, still trying to wrap your head around the fact that you had been working for so long. “Sandwich,” you pointed to the plate on the ground.
Bucky walked over to the plate and stared at the barely eaten food. “Babe you had like, one bite of this. Is it your meds?”
You nodded. He knew that you often didn’t do simple things to take care of yourself when you took your meds. You would be so focused on the task at hand that you would usually set reminders every hour on your phone, telling you to take care of your basic human needs like eating or going to the bathroom. But you had been in such a frenzy after the mission that you didn’t do it this time.
“Honey, you look exhausted,” he smiled at you sadly.
You shook your head. “Don’t feel tired. I need to keep working. I’ll go in the living room if you wanna unwind.” You grabbed your computer off the floor and started to walk out the doorway but were stopped by a large hand on your shoulder.
“No,” he grabbed your laptop and shut it, holding it over his head.
“Give it back, Bucky!” You began to jump, trying to reach the laptop. Bucky was considerably taller than you, meaning that it was a lost cause for you to try to get your computer from his grasp. He couldn’t help but laugh at how adorable you were, despite his extreme concern for your condition.
“Can’t do that, baby.” He placed the computer on the highest shelf in the room.
“Bucky, I need to keep going. My draft is due tomorrow!”
“And you’ve been working your ass off on it for the past 3 months. And the past 24 hours, alone. Your brain must be fried, baby, especially right after a mission.” He looked at you, eyes pleading for you to just take a break. Even if you felt fine from the extreme amount of medication and caffeine in your system, you were gonna crash soon. “How much medication did you take?”
You thought back to how many times you felt it wear off and opened the bottle. Technically, you could take it every 4-6 hours. You weren’t being that reckless by using it so much, but of course you knew deep down that it wasn’t great to use it so much so frequently. “Uh… 5?” You admitted quietly.
His eyes nearly popped out of his head. “5 times? You've practically been hopped up on Concerta for an entire day straight?”
You didn’t know if the most recent dose was wearing off or if the pull away from the computer was causing it, but you could feel yourself crashing. Exhaustion tugged at your eyes and it fully hit you what you had been doing to yourself. You hated that this was how you were. People never understood how frustrating and debilitating ADHD truly was. There was no real “normal”. The medication made it easier for you to do work, but then you ended up like this. Your eyes filled with angry tears at yourself. “I hate this, Bucky! I hate this so much. I just wanna be able to function and do homework like normal!”
“Oh baby…” he pulled you into a hug. “I know it’s hard for you. I know I won’t ever truly understand how your brain works and what it feels like for you but I know you struggle. But you don’t just struggle, you fight, okay? You’re so smart, you’re the smartest person I know. The things you say, the way your mind works… god, I’m just so amazed by you, honey.”
“I hate the way my mind works!” You cried into him.
“I know baby, I know,” he stroked your hair as you cried, just wanting to bring you comfort. “But you don’t let it stop you. You don’t let your ADHD prevent you from doing and learning all of the things that you want to. You could have given up so many times but you didn’t. And that’s what counts, okay?”
You took a deep breath, calming yourself. You were so tired. And hungry.
“I tell you what, baby. Why don’t you take a shower and I’ll cook us some food. Then you can pick out any sweatshirt of mine that you like and we’ll relax and get some rest.”
His plan sounded so appealing but you still had work to do. “But Bucky, I-”
“Shh. No more working tonight. You still have all day tomorrow to finish up. And it’s only a draft, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t you think taking a look with fresh eyes tomorrow will be good for you?”
“I-” you opened your mouth to argue, but he was right. “Okay,” you sighed. “You’re right.”
He kissed the top of your head. “Oh yeah. Go shower, babe. And wash your hair. Please,” he teased.
“I hate you,” you laughed as you made your way into the bathroom.
You look at a long shower, letting the hot water cleanse both your mind and body. When you walked back out into the living room, in Bucky’s sweatshirt, of course, your favorite meal was sitting on the table. “Oh baby, you didn’t have to do this! You could have just put in a frozen pizza or something.”
Bucky smiled at you. “Hey, I wanted you to have your favorite. Plus I need to make sure you eat enough to nourish yourself after being up for so long.”
After you ate and Bucky also showered, you got into bed. Your eyes were so heavy and you couldn’t even think about the paper anymore, just wanting the soft blanket of sleep to take over.
“Thank you, Bucky,” you whispered as he wrapped his arms around you.
“Always, my love. I’ll help you work more tomorrow, okay? And I’ll make you a deal. Every page you finish, I’ll make you cum,” he whispered seductively.
Within seconds, you were out cold, resting up for the long day of writing and other things that tomorrow had in store.

T. Zegras - Disheveled Duckling

Trevor Zegras x Reader
Requested✨
Word Count: 4.2k
Warning(s): Insecurities, and a tiny tiff
—————————————
“Whose decision was it to make Zegras the cover of NHL 23?”
“Tried and failed to make the new face of the league Trevor Zegras.”
“What an absolute joke.”
“Too flashy. Not enough skill.”
“Good thing the Ducks hired another useless player. I was afraid they might actually make the playoffs.”
“Wonder if he has to hold onto sh** when the wind blows”
“His girlfriend need a man’s man?”
“Holy shit!” I slammed the door to the house I’d slowly grown to love. Trevor and Jamie’s.
Jamie’s head shot up from the couch, startled and frightened by both my abrupt arrival and my anger.
“You good?” I heard him chuckle. No doubt nervous. I took my shoes off, locked the door, and turned to look at my boyfriend’s best friend. Silence filled the air around us. Jamie’s nervous smile immediately disappeared.
“It’s impossible.” My shirt was dripping with water, as were my hands. “And you didn’t even come outside to help!”
“Trevor’s car is really that unclean-able?”
“It’s yours! It’s your Jamie! What are you driving through?” His cheeks turned red. Trevor was out for a hockey game, but when I informed him that my work place was trying to schedule a late night meeting, and we hadn’t known how long Jamie was going to be at the doctors office, Trevor said he’d simply take an Uber. I felt bad when Jamie came home five minutes after Trevor had left. So I decided to go out and wash their cars for them. It was a nice day anyway, a little outdoor time hadn’t hurt.
“I don’t know?” I had managed to get Trevor’s car practically spotless before I had waxed it. But Jamie’s was something else. It had tiny asphalt pieces all over. Which was usual on a car, but I couldn’t scrape them away without chipping paint, and they wouldn’t just wipe away either.
The sun had begun setting mere minutes ago. I had given up on Jamie’s car. I was tired, I’d missed more of the hockey game than I wanted to, and now I was simply angry.
“You’re lucky I have a moral compass that says I shouldn’t hit injured people.” I grumbled as I left the living room, walking through the house to find mine and Trevor’s bedroom. I needed a change of clothes. Something comfortable.
I had been getting notifications for a while on my NHL app. I had only stopped to look at a few, but from what I’d seen, the Ducks were losing. Another reason to be stressed. Another reason to worry about my boyfriend.
I met Trevor when he played for the USA hockey team. We just happened to be in the same town and in the same pastry shop the night it happened. He was trying to order a bear claw, and I had let out a rather exaggerated sigh over the fact that it was the last one. We shared it over two cups of iced coffee.
After that, we became friends and remained so for a long time. The year he got drafted into the NHL, it seemed he’d been on enough of an adrenaline rush to ask me out. I said yes. He pursued his dreams while I pursued my own. Our paths of life ran parallel, but close enough to hold hands along our walks.
I’d been around long enough to see Trevor make records in USA hockey, get drafted, play in the AHL, and eventually join the league permanently. I’d also seen the rise and fall of his mentality as those years went by as well.
I couldn’t pinpoint when it truly started, but I would certainly say when the media began pushing to make him the new face of the league. That was when Trevor began to feel the anxiety.
To everybody else, he loved it. To everybody else, he ate up every second of attention he got. He loved the videos online, the commercials, the sponsorships and free stuff. And part of that was true. Trevor did love all of those things.
But people put so much pressure on you when they expect you to be the poster child of anything. It can change people. Hell, Sidney Crosby’s first year in the NHL was spent screaming at any ref he could over a call he didn’t like. Getting misconducts and penalties he ought not to. Good men can fall long ways under immense pressure. But when the spotlight is on you, all people want is to see you fall and fail. People want to see the hero bend and bend and eventually break.
Trevor loved the attention, but he despised the hate. He didn’t like opening his sports news apps to find articles on himself, and not having the impulse control to not read them. He hated posting something on Instagram, and going back to check a comment from a friend, only to find hate surrounding it. He hated hearing people he looked up to all his life’s putting him down left and right. He hated being misunderstood, but not given the platform to express his grievances. He had no right to discuss his feelings. Nobody would listen.
Perhaps that had been what made him feel like he couldn’t come to me. What made him pull away when I could tell he was tense and disappointed. It took me forever to really understand why he would come home looking so defeated. Looking like a parent who should have expected better from their kid. It took me forever to realize how much Trevor hated himself.
I blamed it on the publicity over and over again. They built him up so much, just to tear him back down. And I knew with each loss, there was a new article. A new post. A new video. A new comment.
My hopes were whisked away when I opened the NHL app to see the score. 5-1. Not a good look for the Ducks. Then of course, upon further inspection, opening the live summary of the game, I realized Trevor had his own ten minute misconduct.
I was never happy that he fought. That he got in people’s faces and picked fights with guys who could have pinned him down to the ice in one shove. But I understood somewhat. Trevor was just trying to look out for himself. Trying in his own short tempered way to be heard in a league that would not listen to him. But we both found through time that nobody was on his side other than his team and few friends.
“Jamie!” I tossed my phone down onto the bed as I grabbed a spare shirt and a pair of shorts. I quickly changed, the lack of response leading me to assume Jamie was ignoring me. I rolled my eyes as I walked back down the hall, stopping once I was in the living area and over the couch.
Not ignoring, somehow asleep. I worried sometimes about him and his pain medication. He was responsible with it, but I still worried. I gently nudged him. Easy to wake, per usual. And he couldn’t have been out that long.
I nudged Jamie again, watching his eyes flutter open. I gestured for him to move, and he quickly cleared a space for me on the edge of the couch. I sat and took the tv remote, turning the screen on.
“Have you had the game on at all?”
“No.. it’s been.. kinda- stressing me out.” I nodded.
“Trevor got into another fight.” Jamie wasn’t surprised. But he knew as well as I did that Trevor was struggling. On his own little broken sailboat, refusing help because he didn’t want anybody else to be caught up in his storm.
“It should be over by now.” Jamie shifted and sat up, leaning against the arm rest of the couch.
I found the channel and flipped it on. Sure enough, Jamie had been correct. I crossed one of my legs over the other, eyeing up the tv in search of my boyfriend. When I couldn’t find him, I assumed they had kicked him out of the entire arena for the last ten minutes of the game. Banished to the locker room.
I used to love games that took place in the middle of the day. Trevor would come home and we’d have dinner together. Then we’d curl up in bed and whisper for hours until we fell asleep. Now, games in the middle of the day meant there was extra time to avoid aggravating Trevor.
We sat in silence until the goal horn sounded, frustrated Ducks players exiting the ice. It was a waiting game now. One Jamie and I were happy to do together, so neither had to worry about Trevor alone.
“He’ll probably be fine.” Jamie broke the silence with a statement we both knew to be false.
“He hasn’t been fine.” I knew that in my mind, but my heart broke at the first confession of the fact. Trevor had been a wreck of emotions and I hadn’t been able to fix even one of his problems.
And he hid it all so well underneath that big smile. And all those jokes.
Jamie and I returned to silence not long after, but when we caught the headlights through the window, he had been the first to get up to leave.
“You should handle this one.. right?” I gave a nod in approval to his suggestion.
“I’ve got him.”
Jamie retreated to his room after that. Always only one call away if Trevor or I ever needed him. I was supposed to be one call away for Trevor too. Why didn’t he ever dial my number?
I waited for what felt like hours for Trevor to come inside. He never did. So I decided to see what was going on. I unlocked and opened the front door, surprised by the sight of Getzlaf’s car in the driveway. I could just barely make out the silhouette of two figures, one pointing at the other in a manner that looked tense.
I leaned in the doorway, and waited patiently before I was spotted. Getzlaf gestured, and Trevor climbed out of the car. He grabbed his gear from the back, and I heard his voice shout something to his old captain before making his way up the short drive to the door. I wasn’t sure what to say, so instead I stood there, staring at Trevor as his eyes met mine. He looked like he was waiting for something.
“Can I come in?” I was surprised by Trevor’s tone. Playful and lighthearted. I looked skeptical, but I nodded and stepped aside nonetheless.
“I was thinking we could do dinner? I miss that. Maybe- we could try.. like steaks? I know Jamie just got a pack the other day.” Trevor’s always been talkative, but this time it feels off. There was a sound in his voice I didn’t know how to place.
“Trevor I can’t cook steaks.”
“Let me do it.” I stared at him as he shut the door. He hated cooking.
“Come on! It’ll be fun! Let me take care of you.” I shrugged. What’s the worst that could happen?
Trevor insisted I sit at the table while he did his thing. I was hesitant, but I allowed him space nonetheless. Trevor tried to talk about the game a bit, but the bitter laugh that occasionally fell from his lips, and the sad sound in his voice usually caused him to stop before he got into any good details. He often stopped his own comments with something like, “guess it doesn’t matter anyway.” And the repetition of the phrase made me feel like it was a media interview. Like he was repeating and repeating just to get me to go away and stop asking questions. I hadn’t asked any in the first place. That’s what he was hesitant about.
“And the misconduct?” I hoped to look disinterested. Like it didn’t bother me, so I looked down at my phone. Trevor never turned to look at me.
“It was bullshit.” I glanced up at him. His shoulders rose slightly.
“What was it on?”
“You didn’t watch?” Trevor turned to look at me, and I don’t know why, but this time he seemed upset. I had missed games of his before… but this was the first in a long time.
“I was a little busy.” I smiled at him, hopeful to keep the clean car a secret until he could see it in the morning.
“No that’s cool..” he shrugged it off and turned back to the stove. It was definitely not cool, not to him, but he wanted to move on. So we moved on.
I listened to Trevor occasionally mumble under his breath about whatever he was making, the sweet smell of cooked meat filling the kitchen along with the sound of the sizzle of two steaks on the pan. I was certain I hadn’t missed out on Trevor learning how to cook.
Once they were finished, my boyfriend beckoned me over, and I was quick to join his side. He cut a piece and I waited for it to cool off before biting the tender piece of meat off the knife he held. At first it was perfect. Then it was oddly sweet. I made a face. Trevor noticed.
“What’s wrong with it?”
My eyes searched the various items and ingredients strewn across the counter. When I noticed it, I giggled.
“Trevor,” I nodded my head toward the container I used for sugar. I never labeled it because I knew what it was, and the boys didn’t use the big box of sugar I had set aside for baking.
“That’s sugar.” His face fell for a split second. Then he started to laugh. I thought about joining him before it all just felt off. Trevor’s eyes quickly adopted a glazed over look, his smile falling into a frown as the laughter ceased and an overwhelming look of grief overcame his features.
Trevor shook his head before turning the stovetop off. I reached for him while he reached for his keys in his pocket.
“Where do you wanna eat?”
“Baby no. We’ll fix this.”
“I don’t want to. Where do you want to eat?”
“Trevor.”
“I said I don’t want to!”
We didn’t get into fights much. We didn’t like to, but I couldn’t keep disregarding his feelings for his comfort. Something had to give.
“I love you, but you’re gonna sit your ass down and talk to me Trevor.”
“Fuck this.” He shook his head, tossing his keys onto the counter and turning to walk away.
“Trevor!” I snapped and followed him. “I am so sick of seeing you so- so sad! You have to talk to me!”
“I don’t!”
“Then who are you going to talk to? Huh?” Because I knew he was horrible at opening up.
“I don’t know! Nobody fucking listens!” I followed him all the way into our room, pushing the door shut behind myself.
“I’m listening!” I was desperate. “Trevor, I’m right. Here.” He turned to look at me. His anger eased into a blank stare, and it seemed my offer brought everything crashing down at once.
We stared each other down. Both waiting for the other to give up or make some kind of move.
“I’m so tired.” Trevor’s voice quivered, his lips pulling into a frown I hated to see. His eyes fell to the floor.
“Everybody’s so…” he drew in a breath. “Too much- it’s all too much.” Trevor sat down on the side of our bed, his head fell into his hands. “They hate me.”
There was a little kid in there. Devastated. Heartbroken that his heroes wanted him gone. That kids parents didn’t deem him a good role model. That he was ruining his own track record by trying to stay afloat. Trying to survive when nobody respected him. When refs pushed him around and legends dragged his name through the mud. Trevor just wanted to live his dream. He had fun before all the publicity. He didn’t need it, but it was forced on him.
“Nobody hates you.” I slowly made my way over, raking my hands through his hair. Trevor lifted his head to look at me, his brow furrowed and his cheeks red.
“Everybody does! I don’t want to be the guy everybody hates!” Trevor raised his voice, but I couldn’t be bothered to be upset. This was only the tip of the iceberg.
“They liked me..” his voice dropped to a mere whisper. My brow furrowed as I rested my hands on his cheeks, prepared to wipe tears as they began to fall.
“Huh?” I met his volume, Trevor closed his eyes tightly, swallowing the lump in his throat.
“They liked me.. and I ruined it.” Sure, he hadn’t been perfect, but even the aggressive egotistical asshole players had fans. This wasn’t Trevor’s doing. This was the media realizing they failed and then deciding to spin his story. To make him a villain.
“It’s all my fault.” His words were interrupted by a broken gasp, I guided his head to lean against my stomach, pushing a sigh past my lips as I tried not to get too emotional.
“Trevor, this is not your fault.” I ran one hand through his hair while the other held his head.
“I just can’t- fuck!” His voice was muffled in my shirt. “I don’t want this.” I glanced down at him again, my hands travelled to his jaw to move his head from my body.
Trevor’s eyes met my own. So sad. So lost. So broken.
“I don’t want hockey if it comes with all this shit.” He tried to bury his head back against my body, but I held his jaw tightly.
“Trevor.” I carefully moved forward, resting my legs on the bed on either side of his own. I sat on his thighs and pulled Trevor in for a tight hug. His hands gripped the sides of my shirt.
“You just have to be patient. They’re gonna test you.” I whispered against his ear as his head buried in the crook of my neck.
“They test me every day.” I sighed. I didn’t know how to help. “I mess everything up.. they don’t want me. They want somebody who can actually get shit done. They want somebody bigger and faster.. and stronger. They want what I’m not.”
I rubbed at his back with one of my hands.
“Trevor, nobody gives a shit about your weight.” I had never heard a single thing on it before. Sure, maybe his mom made a comment or two about how skinny he was, but it was more so commentary when she was trying to feed him. It never had anything to do with his job.
“Yes they do.” He was insistent. I knew this was a projection. Him trying to find a reason to blame himself for something he couldn’t help. Not everybody gained muscle easily. It wasn’t a bad thing. But to him it was. To him, it was embarrassing.
“I think you look great already. If you get too big, then you can’t lay on top of me any more.”
“That’s not the point.” My joke crash landed. It only seemed to frustrate Trevor more. “People just.. they say shit.” I rested one of my hands on Trevor’s forearm while I worked the other through his hair.
“Like what?”
“That I can’t keep up.. that I’m too scrawny. I need to ‘build up.’ But I can’t! I try and I can’t! I don’t know what’s wrong with me!” He sounded desperate. Desperate for answers I didn’t have.
“It’s genetics Trev. It’s not something you can help.” I knew he tried a million different things. Nothing ever worked. And I knew how hopeless he could get when he’d go to take a peek in the bathroom mirror, and see absolutely no progress. Trevor never had an issue with his body until people started saying things about it.
He’d always wanted to get bigger, but he was patient before. He was willing to really take his time. Now one comment could leave him in the gym for more hours on end than he ought to be in there for. One chirp left him laid down next to me in bed with a shirt on and a pair of pants, curled in on himself like it would somehow make him and his insecurities any less noticeable.
“Or maybe I just shouldn’t be playing hockey. Maybe I’m just not cut out for it.” His sadness had shifted into acceptance. Like he was ready to give up.
“They drafted you Trevor. People talked about you forever. People were elated to have you in the league.”
“Yeah. Were.“
“They still are.” I sighed. “So you have an attitude? They’ll get over it. You know how many people have said they love you? They love your personality, and your talent? You’re a new version of the game. A new type of style everybody is going to know you for.” I moved my hand from Trevor’s hair. I gently traced his jawline with my fingers, holding my breath at the sight of my disheveled duckling.
“What if it never gets better?” Trevor had thought about this more than I realized. I shook my head.
“It will. There’ll be some new hotshot they’ll idolize and attack. Some new player who takes a downward spiral that they decide to torture. This won’t be you forever.. you just have to stay strong while it happens. Okay?”
“I just wanted to play hockey..” exhaustion was evident in his tone. I allowed Trevor to rest his head on my shoulder again, his breaths were heavy from trying to hold back the tears that hadn’t fallen.
“It’ll all work itself out, Trev.” My voice lowered to a whisper. “They did the same thing to Jack.. they did the same thing to Crosby. You just have to handle it better.. that’s all. You know I love you, I just think they get under your skin too easy.”
“I know.” Trevor sighed.
“You have to remember to calm down sometimes. Nobody’s ever going to listen if all you do is yell and fight.”
“That’s what Getz said.” I had been curious, but at no point did I consider asking what Getzlaf had said to Trevor. It hadn’t been my place. But I was happy Trevor told me nonetheless. It was reassuring to know somebody else was telling him the same things.
“You need a stress ball out there or something.” I joked softly, running my hand through Trevor’s hair one last time before I rested my hands on his shoulders, pushing him back so I could see him.
Trevor mustered a sad smile at my words.
“Maybe you just need to chew on your glove like Jack.” I added, trying to go two for two. It seemed that comment earned a giggle from him.
“Or reach out and talk to him.” My tone took up a more serious sound. Trevor pursed his lips and nodded. “You guys don’t talk as much as you should. He probably gets jealous of Jamie.”
I went three for three the second I noticed Trevor’s smile widen, his eyes squinting as well when he laughed.
Silence enveloped our own little world. I tucked a strand of his hair behind his ear. Trevor seemed to finally relax.
“We’re gonna be okay,” I whispered as I gently placed my hands on his chest. Trevor picked up the cue to lay back as I propped myself up over him.
“And I love you.” I added softly, pressing a kiss to his collar. “And Jamie loves you,” Trevor smiled again. “And your mom, and your siblings, and your dad. And all of your friends all scattered about.” I climbed off of Trevor and slipped off the bed. He looked confused before sitting up to look at me, eventually standing as well.
“You don’t have to be perfect.” He stepped closer, resting his hands on my sides as my own slipped beneath his shirt to hold his hips. “Nobody needs you to become a body builder.” I continued. Trevor nodded slowly. “And nobody needs you to lose that attitude.” I wrapped my arms around his body beneath his shirt, gently scratching his back. His weakness. He loved back scratches. “Just keep being the Trevor I know and love. Just be yourself, okay? Everything comes after that.”
And everything did come after that. I didn’t want Trevor to lose himself or his confidence because of others.
After I got him settled, Trevor and I had cleaned the mess in the kitchen and I took him out for a quick dinner. We ate on some curbside, talking and laughing over nonsense. When we did get home, I had checked up on Jamie, prepared to ask if he was hungry before I found he’d been asleep. After that, I slipped back into our room and got settled in bed with him, flipping through streaming services until we found something to fall asleep to.

Still Blue
Summary: It's been a year.
Warning: fluff, angst
Word Count: ##
Note: I've got two unfinished requests sitting in my drafts for so long but still don't have the motivation to finish it. Sorry :(
Inspired by the Rookie S4 E01. I don't watch it but I saw a scene in Tiktok and thought it'll be cute.
Tumblr media
You entered your office, slumping on the couch, stomach flat, Tony had forced you to buy before when you're just starting to work at the Stark Industries. You sighed out of relief, taking a mental note to thank your wonderful husband again, the couch is a blessing as your bum is already tired seating all day on those meetings you attended.
Not minutes after relaxing in your position, you heard a knock which made you stand up and say come in to the person in the other side of the room.
"Mommy!!" Your daughter, Morgan, exclaimed as Happy opened the door while his other hand is holding Morgan.
Morgan quickly takes her hand from Happy as she excitedly run to you, full of energy. You bend down to hug her and kiss her cheeks multiple times which made her giggle. That sound alone vanishes your tiredness from the exhausting day you had.
"Hurry, mommy! I had something to show you and Daddy!" She yell excitedly once she broke the hug.
"Happy, have the car ready, I'll just get my things and we're good to go," You instructs, guiding Morgan to Happy once again. "Because someone here is a little excited to see his daddy." You continue, bopping you daughter's nose.
"Copy, we'll now head downstairs." Happy replies and you mutter a thank you before walking to your desk, tidying the papers and getting your bag, make sure you didn't forget anything.
After you arrived home, Tony's at the door greeting his girls, you and Morgan, as well as Happy. But before you could reply, Morgan already got his daddy wrapped around her finger, settling the both of them to the living room to play and chitchat while you went straight to the kitchen to prepare your dinner. Happy went upstairs, carrying Morgan's trolley bag to put it in your daughter's room.
Before you could start, Tony must have noticed as he shouted from the sala.
"I've got the dinner going already, honey." He states. "I asked FRIDAY, with Dum-E and U, for assistance to cook the chicken, we also got the side dishes covered so just relax."
You couldn't help but tear up at your thoughtful husband. Maybe because you had an exhausting day but seeing him like this, happy playing and listening to Morgan's stories and got the dinner ready to help you relax, you couldn't ask for a better husband because you already got the best.
As Happy went downstairs, you have offered him to have dinner in your home but he politely declined, stating that he and Pepper had already plans for their dinner, which you just smile and guide him to the door.
"Thank you, Happy. Have a nice ride."
After dinner, you put all the dishes in the sink, leaving FRIDAY to work on it. You sat in the couch beside your husband as Morgan tells her day in the school to the both of you. You and Tony couldn't help but chuckle as Morgan even acted some of the scenes as she's in front of the coffee table, exaggerated words and the tone of her voice is too cute to not react.
After some time, as you sense that Morgan is getting tired from her scheme, you had her take a bath and to call it a night. You left your husband in the living room as you went upstairs with Morgan to help her.
Once Morgan took a bath and you settle her in her own bedroom, you went to kiss her forehead and wished her a goodnight and sweet dreams.
"Mommy, I have a question." She starts, you hum as a response for her to continue with a smile on your face, wondering what's going on inside her tiny very curious head just like her dad.
"Why is daddy still blue?" That made your smile go away for a second before you force yourself to put one again.
"It's already past your bedtime," You changed the topic. "and don't think that you'll get away for sneaking a juice pops with your daddy earlier." You kiss her cheek and forehead one more time before leaving her to her room.
You let out a sigh as you close the door behind your back. It's not the first time Morgan had asked you about that but it's been getting often these past few weeks and you don't think that changing the topic would help you next time.
You close your eyes and take a deep breath. You flinch as Tony made an appearance to the hall.
"My lovely wife." He greets, but as soon as he sees your reaction, worry starts to conquer his face.
It's been minutes since you and Tony settled in the living room, you remain silent while Tony tries to talk to you, asking what's wrong. Yet, you give him no answer.
It's hard. It really is. What Morgan had asked earlier gave you a cold hard reality check. Suddenly, it's like you're back to square one. You're back to day one, feelings are overwhelming your system. You play pretend so much to the point you'd forgotten how your daughter needs to know the truth— which she might have already known about it she's just waiting for you to actually say it, something that you're not so sure if you have the courage and energy to say it to her because even yourself, doesn't want to believe the sad reality you're living in.
"Honey, please talk to me. You know how I worry about you going completely silent around me." Tony's voice snapped you from your train of thoughts. You couldn't get yourself to his holographic figure right now so you looked away.
"Darling, look at me, tell me what's wrong."
"Morgan asked me why you're still blue." And that made Tony halt.
You both went into complete silence. Unspoken thoughts echoed through the room. Both of you can't say anything because both of you can't do anything about it.
"Is there anything that I could do to you?" He broke the silence, voice filled with hope that maybe he could make it up— the hardest yet also the easiest decision he did before.
You shake your head—no. Because there's nothing that he could do right now to ease you.
"At least tell me, do you.. need anything?" His voice is almost cracking up, and you didn't even knew how could a holographic figure of his could do that. Could make you feel so much emotion, could make you feel like he is really there. With you.
"The 365 days back."
"You know I can't do that honey." He replies, so gloomy and filled with remorse. You could ask for anything in the world and he can make it happen.
Gosh, if he had given the chance to move the heavens and the mountains for you and Morgan, he would literally do that. And it's breaking his heart that the only thing you ever ask for is the one thing that can't do.
"I know." You reply as a tear went down your cheek, giving him a nod to completely show how much you understood him. Because you really do, you knew your husband well enough to know that he didn't want to do it either. It's just that his need to protect and give his family a better place to live is much stronger than anything in this world that he would gladly do it even if it meant it'll cost him his life. Which what happened a year ago.
And you didn't know if you're starting to slip away from reality again and slowly imagining things but you swore you could almost feel his arms around you, giving you the comfort you needed the most and whispering 'I love you'.
"I know."

The months went by slowly.  The pregnancy was hell at first, Y/N running to the bathroom all the time and her emotions all over the place.  After the first trimester she finally seemed to calm down, and the nausea eventually subsided.  She was worried about never hearing from Steve, and getting no notice from the army about him or his whereabouts.  Bucky tried making some inquiries with some war buddies he’d made, but no one seemed to know anything.  He tried to put her at ease so she wouldn’t stress herself out, being advised by Dr. Banner to keep her stress as low as possible.  Most of the time the only way to distract her enough was to make love, which she was especially excited about during her pregnancy and Bucky was all too eager to give her.
During the summer months Y/N struggled with how tired she was.  She tried to keep up with her work, but doing house calls was becoming too much of a physical task as her belly got bigger and heavier.  By mid-August she was struggling to just get up from sitting, and Dr. Banner put her on maternity leave rather than firing her.  “Just focus on this baby,” he instructed her.  “If you decide to come back to work after birth, you let me know.  If not, then we’ll make sure you leave with all the help you’ll need.”
At the beginning of September Bucky was looking for jobs, since she couldn’t work anymore.  He’d been unsure about getting a job for a while, not thinking anyone would hire someone missing a limb.  Then the war ended.  Y/N was happy, but scared at not hearing from Steve.  Surely she would have heard something from someone by now?  The army usually let families know when someone was missing in action, especially when someone was killed in action.  As the nation celebrated Y/N and Bucky were getting the nursery put together in what was Bucky’s old room.  She was in full nesting mode and wanted everything to be perfect.
“Alright the clothes are ready, the crib set up, the bottles cleaned…let’s see,” Y/N was hurriedly flitting around the room as she made mental notes of what needed to be done.  “We should really give the kitchen another deep clean, I swear the dust accumulates so fast–”
“Babydoll, we’re ready,” Bucky laughed as he stopped her constantly moving.  “You’ve gotten everything.  If anyone knows what they need for babies, it’s you, and you got it all.”  He hugged her, petting her hair.
“I’m sorry,” she laughed with him.  “I’m just…I wanna be ready.”
“You are,” Bucky said, pulling away to look at her properly.  “We are.  It’s gonna be okay.”
Y/N smiled up at him, kissing him before sighing heavily.  Then there was a knock at the door.  They both frowned, glancing at the door and then back to each other.  Bucky shrugged and walked to the front door as Y/N stayed in the nursery, refolding a blanket that she’d already folded twice.  She heard voices and then Bucky gasped loudly.
“Buck?” Y/N called out.
“What the fuck?!” Bucky shouted.
Y/N ran out of the nursery then froze in the living room.  Standing by the entryway was Steve, but…it couldn’t be Steve.  He was an inch taller than Bucky now, with broad shoulders, long legs, filling out a military uniform.  He looked built, and big.  Bucky was staring at him in shock, Steve looking sheepish and worried.  Steve gave Bucky a grimace of a smile.  “Hey Buck,” he said.  It was definitely Steve’s voice.
Steve looked to Y/N and his eyes widened as he saw her pregnant belly, his mouth dropping open.  “Y/N?” he asked, his eyes glancing between her and Bucky.
“Steve?” she whispered.
Steve nodded, taking off his military hat.  “Yeah, uh,” he paused, looking down at himself.  “I know it’s quite a…difference.” He smiled at her.  It was Steve’s smile.  “You look quite different, too.”
Y/N broke down in sobs, nearly falling to her knees before Steve quickly stepped forward and caught her.  She clung to him as he helped her sit on the couch.  “Steve!” she cried.  Her hands moved to cup his face as she stared at him.  “How?  You’re so…so big!  What happened?”
Steve smirked.  “Turns out the experiment was me,” he said.  “They called it a super soldier serum.  I don’t know if you’ve heard of somebody called Captain America?”  Y/N frowned but nodded.  “That was me,” he said.  “My job was to take down the inner workings of the Germans, and a group called Hydra.  But we won,” he smiled.  “And now I’m home.”  Bucky walked over and sat across from them on the chair, staring at Steve.  Steve looked between the two of them, glancing at Y/N’s belly again.  “Looks like you two have been busy,” he said, giving Bucky a friendly glare.
Y/N scoffed and Bucky finally cracked a smile.  “Sorry pal,” Bucky chuckled.  “I couldn’t help myself.”
Steve scoffed then turned to Y/N.  He slowly held up his hand toward her belly and she took it and rested it on her bump.  “It’s okay,” she reassured him.  He looked at her in question.  “I’m happy,” she nodded.  “We’re happy,” she said, glancing toward Bucky.
Steve sighed but smiled.  “I’m happy for you.  Both of you.”  He then started giggling.  “I’m gonna be an uncle.”
Y/N and Bucky laughed at his giddy expression.  “You’ll be the best uncle,” Y/N said.  She felt like her heart could finally ease.  Her brother was home.  As Steve and Bucky caught up and Steve told them all about his adventures in Europe Y/N couldn’t stop smiling.  As screwed up as it all was, with Bucky missing an arm, her marrying him as an arrangement at first, and Steve coming back as a whole new man, they were all together again.  She relaxed against the couch, letting their voices lull her to sleep.  All was right.
***
Steve had been working with their neighbor, Tony Stark, behind the scenes while he was with S.H.I.E.L.D.  Y/N knew that Tony was some kind of genius, she just didn’t know how much so until he showed up on their doorstep a few days after Steve got home with a large, long box.
“Hey Y/N/N,” Tony greeted her, stepping inside without an invitation and kissing her cheek quickly.
“Oh, uh, hey Tony,” Y/N said, eyes wide as he walked through the entryway like he owned the place.  “Please, come in,” she said sarcastically.
Tony ignored her and set the box down on the coffee table in the living room.  “Rogers!” he barked.
Steve came out of his room and rolled his eyes at Tony.  “Stark,” he greeted him.
Y/N sighed as Bucky walked out of their room with a frown.  “Ah, Barnes,” Tony said, “the man of the hour.”
Bucky’s frown deepened and he glanced at Steve curiously.  Steve looked a bit sheepish and smiled.  “What’s going on?” Bucky asked.
“I have something for you,” Tony said.  “Rogers was talking to me about your loss of limb and I’ve been toying with some things, talking to some interesting people in Africa, and made something that I think could be helpful if you’re interested.”
Bucky blinked at him.  “What?”
Tony rolled his eyes.  “Behold!” he announced, and ripped off the top of the long box dramatically.  Bucky, Steve and Y/N stepped forward and peered into the box.  Y/N gasped at the sight of an arm made of some kind of metal.  It was a muted, dark gray color with gold peeking through the plates.  It looked otherworldly to her, but when she glanced at Steve he was smiling.  Bucky looked incredulous.  “Now, obviously it will take some work to attach it, and it will most likely be a bit painful, but I have an idea of a way to make it work.  It’s made of the same material as your shield,” he gestured to Steve, “so it’s nearly indestructible, and functions like a normal arm, just a million times stronger.”
Bucky reached his hand out and stroked the arm with his fingertip.  “How?”
“What on earth would he need an indestructible arm for?” Y/N spoke up.
“I believe he was given a version of the super soldier serum, too,” Steve interjected.  Y/N shook her head as she stared at him.  Steve looked at Bucky who looked like he was trying to remember something.  “You’re stronger now, aren’t you?  You have to really hold back or else you break things easily.”  Bucky’s eyes narrowed at him.  “You move a lot faster, so you have to slow yourself down.  You can hear, see, and sense things from long distances away.  You could probably tell she was pregnant before she knew but didn’t know how to explain the second heartbeat you heard,” he said, gesturing to Y/N.
Bucky’s eyes widened at that, his mouth agape.  “How did you–?”
“Because that’s how I feel,” Steve said, pointing to himself.
Bucky exhaled sharply and looked at Y/N, who was looking back and forth between them in shock.  “They…they kept injecting me with things,” he whispered.  “Some of it did nothing, some of it hurt like hell.  I…”  Y/N covered her mouth to stop herself from sobbing.  He’d been hurt so badly, then somehow escaped just so he could come home to her and Steve.  “Oh babydoll, it’s okay,” Bucky quickly walked over and hugged her.  “I’m okay.”
“I know you’re due soon,” Tony interrupted, looking at Y/N then Bucky.  “But if you let me, I think I can get this on before the baby gets here.”
Y/N shook her head and looked up at Bucky.  “You don’t need it, you know that right?” she whispered.  He looked down at her with an unreadable expression.  “You are good and whole just as you are.”
“I know,” Bucky nodded.  “But,” he glanced at the arm, then looked at the other two.  “Excuse us,” he said before pulling Y/N into their bedroom.  He shut the door and turned to her again, cupping her cheek in his hand.  “If I can have a chance to touch you,” he whispered, his thumb rubbing across her cheek, “to actually hold you, hug you completely, to hold our baby, to not feel so off balance, not feel the phantom pain, get a job more easily,” he said, his voice rushing out more earnestly as Y/N sighed.  “Even if it’s just a small chance, I wanna take it,” he said, leaning his forehead against hers.
Y/N stared up at him.  The hope in his face was pleading with her to understand.  She slowly smiled.  “If you feel good about it, then I feel good about it,” she said quietly.
Bucky sighed heavily as he closed his eyes, nuzzling his nose against her nose.  “I do,” he said.
“Then do it,” Y/N said resolutely.

Bus stop part 7
Adam Faulkner-Stanheight x F!reader
Check masterlist for m!reader version! (If it's not up, send me an ask to remind me!! I always forget to post them lmao)
Warnings: none, just pure fluff
Summary: just a little glimpse into life living with Adam
Tumblr media
Y/n and Adam had been living together for about a month now, and despite the stress of the move, life couldn't be better. The pair now resided in a cosy apartment in a clean, safe, and friendly part of the city. The rent was a little higher than their old places, but with rent being split between the two of them, it was manageable. The walls were covered in an array of posters, artwork (some thrifted, some painted by Adam), and of course, plenty of framed photographs that Adam had taken. While putting up these pictures Adam had remarked over and over again that this made it feel like a "real home." In his childhood home, family portraits were pretty much unheard of, so it was a non negotiable that a picture of Adam, y/n and their new family member- a black cat named Frank- took pride of place on the small mantle in the living room.
Days in this new home would often start with the smell of coffee and toast, but on weekends y/n would sometimes spoil Adam with pancakes and crispy bacon drenched in syrup. This was the case on a particular lazy Saturday morning.
"Adammmmm" y/n whispered from the doorway to the bedroom.
The sleeping Adam responded with a grunt, and a mumbled "five more minutes," before pulling the covers over his head"
"Fine, I guess I'll just have to give all your pancakes to Frank"
That got his attention.
As if he were a sleeper cell, only activated by the word "pancakes" Adam shot out of bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
He looked ever so cute in black boxers and a baggy band tshirt, his hair elegantly tousled and his sharp nose twitching at the smell of breakfast.
"Come on, sweetpea," y/n smiled lovingly, holding out a hand for him to take.
Adam took more than a hand, opting instead to hug y/n's waist and lean his tired head on her shoulder.
"You are literally my dream woman" he mumbled, and y/n could hear the smile in his voice.
"If I'd known pancakes were gonna illicit a response like that, I would have made them the first day I met you" y/n chuckled, hugging Adam back and kissing his cheek.
The pair made their way to the beat up sofa in the front room. It was the same one from Adam's old apartment, the same one they'd shared their first kiss on. It was falling apart and needed patching up on a regular basis, but it was too special to throw out. Curled up on the sofa, drinking hot coffee and inhaling their pancakes at lightning speed, Adam and y/n (and Frank the cat) channel surfed all morning. It was a perfectly uneventful day, and after all the chaos that Adam had been through, it was moments like this, the beauty and joy in pure monotony, that just solidified to him how perfect life could really be.
A/n sorry this took so long! I sorta lost my creative spark over the last few weeks due to some mental health issues, but I'm starting to feel like myself again, so hopefully more fics will be out soon! I've got a bunch in the drafts that I've been working on :^)) I know this was short but I hope you enjoyed!

Christmas Miracles | Tee Higgins
Kinzi’s 25 Days of Christmas: Blogmas Day Five
Summary: In which Tee and Y/N have been trying for a baby and they receive a Christmas miracle.
Pairing(s): Tee Higgins x Wife! Reader
Warning(s): mentions of pregnancy, mentions of trouble conceiving, mentions of morning sickness and puking.
Tumblr media
The snow fell slightly in the city of Cincinatti, it was around two weeks until Christmas and Y/N had woken up in her and Tee's house alone. She knew that he had early practice, and he would be home later at a decent time. Usually, Y/N would become very active while Tee was at work and get everything on her to-do list done. However, today that was far from the case.
When she woke up, she had felt sick to her stomach. She wasn't sure what would make her feel so sick, but she was hoping eating would improve her nausea. After fixing breakfast, she started washing her dishes before the wave of nausea hit her and she went running towards her master bathroom. Everything in her stomach was emptied into the toilet before she flushed and decided to take a shower to feel better.
While she waited for the shower to get warm, she picked up her phone and texted her friend, Olivia. She had met the girl when she was introduced to her boyfriend's team, when they, tee and Joe, had both got drafted.
"Hey, can you come over and bring me some ginger ale? My stomach hasn't felt the best." Y/N reread her message before hitting send and jumping in the shower. She knew that Olivia didn't work today so she was sure that the girl would head on over, especially since Joe was at practice with Tee.
Y/N went ahead and took her shower and was hoping for the best. That was until she got out and felt a bit faint. She had wrapped herself in a bath towel and her robe before sinking down to the bathroom floor, sitting on the bathtub rug.
"Hey, you didn't answer the door so I let myself in-" Olivia's voice broke through the room before her eyes widen and she rushed to her friend's side. "Are you okay? What happened?"
Y/N blinked a few times, hoping the feeling would go away. "I thought I was going to pass out." she spoke honestly before looking at her friend.
Olivia thought for a moment, she knew that Y/N had mentioned that she wanted a baby, and she had mentioned that they were actively trying. Tee and Y/N had an appointment to meet with a fertility specialist next month to see if there was anything to help them become successful in their trying.
"I know you don't want to hear this," Olivia started thinking of the way she could suggest it without being insensitive to her. She knew that it would hurt her if she took the test, and it was negative. "Maybe you should take a test? Just to make sure you aren't pregnant..."
Y/N's head shot up when her friend made that suggestion. She would love if she was pregnant and that would be a perfect gift for Tee, but she also knew it would harm her mental health if the test was negative. "There's no way. We've been trying for over a year and haven't been successful." she muttered, her fainting feeling slowly going away.
"Gracie told you that she felt like this before she found out." Olivia reasoned before going to the double sinks in the master bathroom and pulling out a pregnancy test that Y/N had stuffed in the back of the shelf. "Please, just to make sure you're fine."
Y/N sighed but gave in and grabbed the test. Olivia helped her stand before seeing her way out and waiting in the couple's bedroom for the girl to get done. Y/N did what needed to be done and laid the test on the bathroom sink before washing her hands. "This is a bad idea!" she yelled through the door to the future Mrs. Burrow.
"Are you okay?" Olivia asked concerned when she could hear the anxiety in the girl's voice. She knew that it would be a breakdown if the test was negative, but the girl needed to know before she went to any more parties. "Has it formed yet?"
In the bathroom, Y/N's hand covered her mouth as tears formed in her eyes. the two pink lines were super dark on the stick that she was holding in her hands. The tears fell freely as she let out a small laugh in disbelief before letting a grin overtake her face. She was currently carrying Tee's baby and she could not be any happier.
"It's positive." Y/N said as she opened the bathroom door. Happy tears still flowing freely. "It finally happened."
Olivia gave the girl a wide smile, happy for one of her best friend's to be taking this next step in her life. "We should go buy a few things and let you announce it to Tee tonight." Olivia suggested.
Y/N agreed and off they went to go get some things to make an announcement for Tee. She was planning on beating him home, so she could get everything set up.
When Burrow texted Olivia saying that he would be leaving the stadium within five minutes, the girls booked it back to Tee and Y/N's house so she could set up the surprise for him.
"Thank you for everything." Y/N told Olivia as the girl bid her farewell and left to head back home so she would not risk running into Tee. Y/N quickly fixed the present and laid the white box with a black satin ribbon on the foot of the bed. She knew now that it was a waiting game.
Y/N waited for about 20 minutes before she heard the front door open and Tee's sports bag being thrown by the door. She made her way down the stairs to greet her husband with a loving smile. "Hey, baby." She whispered as she wrapped her arms around him, his doing the same to her. "How was practice?"
"The usually." He mumbled before pressing his lips down on hers to greet her properly with a warm and caring kiss. "How was your day?"
Y/N shrugged, trying to play it cool but she was freaking out on the inside. "Fine. I invited Olivia over." she spoke softly, placing a quick kiss on Tee's cheek before separating from him. "What do you want for dinner? I was thinking we could order in, just for tonight?"
Tee's footsteps followed hers as they made their way through the house, "Anything you want. baby."
Y/N smiled before grabbing her phone and door dashing their favorite take out and paying for it. "Done." she smiled before turning her full attention back to Tee. "While we wait on food, I have a present for you."
Tee's eyebrows raised in shock as he followed Y/N towards their shared master bedroom. "Is it an early Christmas gift?"
Y/N thought for a moment, "You could call it that." She agreed before pushing open their bedroom door and urging him to go in and open his present. Y/N stepped forward to watch his reaction to what he was about to open.
He carefully took the ribbon off before opening the box up, he read the top and then look at the shirt and the stick in the box. "Are you-" He cut himself off not knowing if this was real life or not. He knew how sensitive of a subject it was to both of you. Y/N nodded so he would know that she was in fact pregnant. "I'm going to be a father?"
"Surprise." Y/N muttered almost shyly. "I just found out this morning and I couldn't wait to tell you because we have been wanting this for so long and-" Tee cut her off by pulling her close and placing his lips on hers.
"You have made me the happiest guy in the world." He spoke softly to not ruin the moment. "I want you to know that I will be there for you and our baby. No matter what, I'll always take care of you and make sure your needs are met. I love you two so much."
"We love you too."
again, this could have ended better, but I suck with endings. Maybe I will eventually get better at them. I sure hope so.
