so a new yearly adventure 'bout to drop and half of the players are already simping for ithelia while another half is grieving her boring design. me? i'm more interested in the fact that zenimax gave us a lore-friendly way to make our own dardric prince ocs and uuuh lemme just grab a sketchbook real quick and cook up an opposite to mepahala and probably/possibly her twin whose sphere are energies of the afterlife, death and being the shepherd of the undead and the restless dead 👀 and maybe a babygirl of a dardric prince who is the opposite of hircine and oversees the wild beauty of natural world, shapeshifers, sentient trees and talking animals, and mysteries of wild magic and secrets of the untouched wilderness, who has the bottom half of a deer whereas hircine has a head of an elk🦌 ooh! maybe even some opposite to namira whose domain is beauty, poetry and all that is aesthetically pleasing and dreamy and nice who may look like one of those fairies with butterfly wings all over them 🧚‍♀️

anyways, feck the lore, i'm here to 100% milk herma mora's ability to just "conveniently hide" entire dardric princes outside of reality thus making any and all stupid little dardric blorbo ocs we make "technically lore-friendly"

Me, attending the latest in a ridiculous number of funerals this year in the place of a childhood friend who couldn't be there, watching the lifeless body of an old lady who used to make me snacks in the kitchen when I was a kid be carted away forever while my friend's mother cries and tells me she's grateful I could be there because it felt like having the support of her own daughter, hugging her and talking reassuringly and not processing a single one of these emotions: ... I am going to write soooo much fanfiction about this

#''this'' being collective grief. because tbvh it's the main reason I haven't written very much this year (but will slowly start to)#I write to remind myself I am lucky. I keep telling myself this but even now when I feel awful I am so lucky #I am lucky that none of these funerals have involved very close family members or friends of mine #and I am lucky to be living in conditions with the space to write and space to grieve #and space to come together to mourn with dignity while people not that far away from me are not receiving the same privilege rn #I am lucky my dad was with me today and I spent the evening chatting with him on the terrace I am lucky he is alive I am lucky I am lucky #(apologies if this sounds like a robot malfunctioning lmao writing is just how I process things)#(and apparently I just don't seem to feel like I have the right to feel bad about any of this anywhere except my st@r trek blog hehe)#anyway. To stay on theme I shall say something about Trills :D #I imagine loss and grief must register very differently to them. very Non Linearly in the literal sense but also a highly abstract one #even I feel this massive sense of time warp between all these funerals; and this chest-crushing distance between me and my friends #how do Trills even exist #how do they wake up every day remembering all those friends and children and parents who loved them and they loved and are gone now #and still function #how does Ezri feel walking around with memories of parents that aren't hers (but were soooo much better than hers) taking care of her #does she feel comforted by them? does it feel like the people in those memories were always comforting HER specifically?#does it even matter who it belonged to originally if a memory is HERS now?#does Ezri mourn for any parents of past hosts more than she knows she will mourn for her own mother one day?#does having all this lived experience bring her reassuring amounts of perspective for a 20-something or just overwhelm her all the more?#idk; but I hope she learns to take comfort in her past hosts' memories of family eventually...#(...again. just took and passed my last ever exam as a student hehe i’m graduatingggg!!

#spent every other week in my program convinced i was going to not pass an exam and be kicked out #(they’re not very forgiving) BUT i’m practically all done now and graduating (top of my class i might add hehe)#the first month in i was convinced i failed an exam bc the exam was half stuff they said would not be on the exam and i believed them :\#and i sent my friends texts from when i was spiraling along the lines of “’typing to you while crouching on my kitchen floor sipping #leftover coffe and surrounded by cans of beans’ (don’t ask) and every once and awhile they’d bring that text up for a good laugh BUT look #at me now.. i’m on the other side!!

I get the whole translation and publishers thing but like #581円 for one volume? That's like four dollars USD! We average $10 here! How'd that happen #I mean I still didn't pay even that much for them since they were secondhand hehe ♥#But reading them physically is such a weird experience now haha - I've spent years reading them only digitally!#Previously there was like this continuous flow from one volume into the next - no physical delineation! No hard stops!#So now re-learning where the story beats are and how that affects the timbre of storytelling - it's interesting :0 #Seeing that it took three volumes - or two depending on how you count it lol - it took til the third volume anyhow #For them to start to get on the same page and actually communicate and then all the middle-amble (preamble in the middle lol)#It's interesting! It's not quite like reading it blind again - especially since I can't actually read the kanji yet lol #But it does change a bit of the feel :) I'm excited to start to be able to put events to volumes rather than chapters! :D #The little bits of English that dot around are always very charming of course haha ♪#Since they got married in the US they put English on their wedding card! That's so cute!#That is an actual picture I took while reading haha ♪#That's another thing - reading in person really lets me see the toning as intended and ahhhh it's so pretty <3 #The details really pop! i went to this place today with a bunch of arcade and pinball machines and had a super fun time and now i'm thinking about arcade date fluff with copia....

#i lost track of time but we fully spent like 5 and half hours there lol and only left because i needed to eat #it was really fun!!#there was a phantom of the opera pinball machine and i played it a ton #i suck at pinball but it was phantom!! i couldn't help myself #it was based on the book and i kept nerding out on all the little details that i really liked #also played darkstalkers for probably over an hour #and i had to stop because i felt like i was getting carpal tunnel and i was getting way too frustrated because it was really hard #but i grew up playing a lot of arcade games so i had a lot of fun!!#we already know copia is a Gamer so i think going to an arcade with him would be really funnn #gonna cheer him on while he tries to get the high score on a game<33 #and being totally in sync playing co-op games and still trying to one-up each other even when we're on the same team hehe #we play a fighting game and he's annoyed that i'm using the same strat i've used since i was a kid #which is just randomly mashing buttons and wiggling the joystick aimlessly until i accidentally figure out a combo and then spamming it #and more than that he's frustrated that it's working and i keep winning #i could go on but yeah arcade dates my beloved <33 #what do you have to say doll?

I somehow just spent 4 straight hours making grid guides for myself, I think I have a problem

#ig its just very mindless so its easy for me to get into the groove but STILL #i am appalled at myself #and the fact that this isnt the first time ive spent hrs on end doing the exact same thing...#before abu dhabi 2022 i spent a while working on grid guides but tonight i was redoing them #its funny the difference btwn the first time i made them vs now #the first time they were all kinda random names except for a few so it felt like so much of my focus was on tbem #but now that ive watched 2005 and have learned a lot more history i recognize literally almost every name 😭#i wrote down 13 seasons in this block of time i think?#i had to carefully look at wikipedia page to do some of the 2000s ones #but then I swapped to doing the past 4 seasons and i could do them without looking at anything hehe #i mean i have to go back and add stuff but it was very satisfying #but yeah making guides are rly fun even if its just for my own benefit i feel like ive learned so much by doing them!#okay now to spend another horrible amnt of time doing italy 2005 gifs #i meant to read fic over the wknd but then just ended up doing so much other stuff :')#catie.rambling.txt
