Like there are VALID criticisms surrounding the show and ways to acc express those without being bullies. For example, I personally believe that both Sokka and Katara shoudlve been portrayed by darker skinned native people, as they’re essentially the most melanated in the original series and them being brown-skinned resonated with a lot of black/brown/asian kids growing up. I like that they chose native actors to fill these roles, but theres still that criticism there TOWARDS THE CASTING DIRECTORS AND PRODUCERS NOT THE ACTUAL ACTORS.

Or yk, Mai, Azula and even Ty Lees hair. I think a big issue is that those in that department could’ve done a much better job at properly framing the actresses faces with their hair and still staying true to the animated series. Even beyond just those three, the wigs and hairstyles in this adaptation are just poorly done. Like there couldve been more investment in stylists that know how to work with wigs instead of having some ppl look like theyre in Tyler Perry wigs. I mean look at princess yue like come tf on?? Her hair LOOKS TERRIBLE and idk ab the acting bc i havent seen the show, but from what Ive seen her acting isnt amazing yet I’m seeing ten times the criticism towards mai and azula in comparison to princess yue.

hey yall! gonna clarify stuff abt this post

outside of and including radfems, there are many reasons a woman might not "feel" like a woman. a huuuuge notable one is that we live in a world where women are not valued the way men are and that is reflected in media and politics and interpersonal experiences and like every second ever. of course a woman or girl might not "feel" like the caricature, stereotype, or role that is thrust upon women. she might not feel the same way the rest of the word "feels" a woman should be. that is not "called being nonbinary," its just a normal reaction to misogyny

additionally, when radfems say they do not "feel" like a woman, its often heavy on the word feel, in that we simply are women and our womanhood is not tied to an internal ("magic gender") feeling. (fyi ik the "magic" part is j lighthearted and a joke, but the content of the message applies.) that is why i do not "feel" like a woman because i cannot "feel" something that is merely my reality. (i don't feel like i have curly hair, i just have curly hair.) most actual feelings i have regarding myself and my inner identity are merely aspects of my personality.

i used to go by all pronouns and while never outwardly identified as "genderfluid" i heavily identified with it. and i do know that "vibe," and i cant describe the uniquely liberating experience it is to recognize that being a woman means nothing to my "vibe" or personality or anything like that.

i know the word "woman" takes on a lot, especially roles/stereotypes, but you don't ever have to reflect that in your actions. you can vibe with what makes you happy without attributing it to not being your observed sex. like you can legitimately do and be whatever you are doing while female and that qualifies as a woman!! theres nothing more to it!! its amazing!

when i hear radfems make the claim that "everyone would be nonbinary," it's more in the sentiment that no one 100% adheres entirely to the roles/expectations of man or woman, basically that to imply some people's "gender" or whatever IS binary is strange! not even the most tradwife or "alpha male" commits entirely to the role yk? not even they are 100% in either binary. it would be impossible, and every person inches out of these gendered expressions/performances/etc at LEAST from time to time (some more often than others, but it definitely is everybody)! so its just recognizing that sure there could be some "gender spectrum" but its far more real to acknowledge everyone is somewhere in the middle of these strict binaries than just a minor group of people. (at least that's my understanding of when radfems make that statement.)

lots of radfems used to be TRAs or trans-identified individuals-- even still have dysphoria-- and that contributed to their becoming radfems!! many radfems understand the pain of dysphoria, and their experience w medicalization and/or interpersonal experiences aid in their current understanding of gender ideology and what it means to be a woman. (also see below cuz i expand more on the other part, especially the last comment.)

the first comment i find so interesting because i think thats often the point. like often someone will claim they feel like a woman/man/nonbinary-person/etc or not, and are so sure of it. and because so much of this is dependent on the way you feel, one of the things that changed my mind abt gender ideology was j considering like, "how do i know this isnt the feeling of a woman? how do i know other women aren't experiencing this?" like even trans rights activists will state that not everyone "feels" being nonbinary the same way for example. so who's to say this feeling i feel is not also the feeling of a woman? yk? because chances are, theres a lot of other women feeling discomfort with their natal sex and perception/self-perception, and so much more!

so i'd ask anyone who says what the top comment says: if a woman is someone who feels like a woman, but you can't define or break down that feeling, how are you sure all of these women are feeling the same thing?

i consider myself a relatively patient person 99% of the time, but this is so aggravating! for anyone not in the loop, an egg is a term for someone who is trans but doesn't know it yet. hypocrisy is one of my greatest frustrations, cuz a huge TRA thing is that you can't tell other people if they are a man/woman/nonbinary-person/etc, and you always have to respect their identity, but apparently that doesn't apply now!!

this subsequently damages his ability to form relationships with other people; he thinks he has no business doing so. he consciously puts up walls in the beginning but he eventually almost becomes unable to strike up *anything* at all with another person. from rtp onwards everybody he meets, no matter how attached the other becomes — they all become fleeting figures in his mind. buuuuuut if we're going down the route of johnny stays a douchesnozle, then i think it would be hilarious if he tries to break you up with your boyfies. it goes down like this: johnny runs into you on a date with san at the cafe you've been going with him since you two were twelve, and san is sharing a strawberry dacquoise and a grapefruit ade with you. johnny scoffs at the sight of him feeding you with the fork and is like, "i fuckin' knew it."

you don't notice your ex because your back is facing him, but san definitely does. the next bite he pretends to give you, san moves the fork out of the way at the last second and pecks you on the lips instead. you squeal and ask him, "what was that for?" and san simply replies, "just cause i can," and cause johnny can't. hah.

johnny stalks off grumpy, and lo and behold two days later he runs into you again at the mart filling a whole bag of ice cream to buy (not with your money, of course). but what the fuck? you're with hongjoong, and he's got you all wrapped up with your back against his chest as you both pick out the ice cream from the freezer. you spot the last of the magnum ice cream sandwiches, which you know is yeosang's favourite, so you lean into the freezer to dig it out.

hongjoong steadies your waist when he happens to look up and make eye contact with your ex, and if you notice your boyfriend's hands holding you a little firmer, you don't realise that it's because he is feeling a little possessive. hongjoong makes a show to nuzzle into your neck with fond endearment when you stand back up and present the wrapped ice cream to him, because you're his now, not johnny's.

it continues like that. johnny keeps running into you around namhae–at the beach, at different cafes, on the streets. he keeps himself hidden, but he sees you with a different boyfriend each time. coincidentally, the boys always manage to spot him, probably because they are always on alert whenever you are out with them. and it always goes down the same. you obliviously glow under their public displays of affection in the form of hugs, kisses, smiles and interlocked hands, whilst your ex fumes away in his anger.

until he cannot take it anymore. it's summer and you're out with all of them at the beach, one of those rare days when you are able to spend time with the eight of your boyfriends together. it's nostalgic lying on the towel with yeosang tracing patterns on your skin, watching your boys toss each other into the water, surfboards long forgotten on the sand near you. a shadow falls over you and yeosang, and when you look up, you're shocked to see that it is your ex.

"johnny," you stutter, because why is he here in front of you? you scramble to your feet, as does yeosang, and he pulls you behind him as he stands in front.

"what the fuck do you want?" the voice doesn't come from him, though. it's san, and the rest of your boys have already made their way back to shore to stand protectively around you the moment they realised who was approaching you.

your ex scoffs with disbelief, "you know this slut is cheating on you all, right? she's cheating on every single one of you behind your very backs and you still want her?"

hongjoong growls dangerously, "you want to say that one more fucking time?"

"yeah," johnny challenges, "she's a fucking slut."

"and you're a fucking idiot because she's dating all of us. she's our girlfriend, and if you fucking dare come close to her or any of us ever again, it won't just be your pea-sized ego that is bruised–it'll be your whole fucking face."

so basically johnny makes a clown out of himself trying to expose you for cheating, only to be told that lol jokes on him you're dating them all and a million times happier than you ever were with him. hongjoong and wooyoung are extremely close to knocking your ex's teeth out, but a single glance from you and your boys have heeled. johnny never bothers you or the boys ever again and you all live happily ever after.

Ok but like the thing about the Emperor that I feel like a lot of people don't get is that u can't just cross reference general mind flayer lore with them like.

The Emperor is the main character of their own game.

Balduran was the hero that evaded assumed death hinted at in BG1 and BG2 and yet again in BG3. He continually survived despite all odds because he was the player character. He was us. U. Me.

Getting a lil controversial here, let's look @ the Ansur situation. Imagine u r playing BG3 and u romanced one of the origin characters. They are ur best friend and u feel so strongly for them and have already gone on so many adventures together thru the game.

Then u get urself in a sticky situation and get turned into a creature that's known to be one of the most dangerous in existence. But ur still u. Ur still playing the game, controlling the character.

So u go back to ur s/o and all they want to do is fix u. Cure u. And u try but there's nothing that can be done until ur like. Bro its fine I don't need a cure let's just keep adventuring. But instead they try to kill you. A battle initiates. U cannot run bc if u do, theyll find u and initiate it again and again.

In order to proceed w/ the game, u have to kill them.

So many actual players of bg3, and video games in general, do this kinda thing without even thinking abt it! Nettie is a mirror of the situation (tho obv u didnt rly grow attached to her); youre being killed by her for the greater good. To protect others and yourself.

I don't want to derail a post about racism, but I do feel like this shit needs to get talked about.

Because people will say literally the most deranged shit about Ed. I've heard the idea that he's gonna lose interest in Stede because he views people as hyperfixations floated. He's volitile and unstable (citation needed) he's messy (but he thinks pets befoul the ship and he couldn't believe he was living like this after letting Stede's cabin get covered in maybe a weeks worth of depression clutter) he needs a minder (despite constantly minding other characters). And all of that shit when pointed out as racist invariably gets explained away with "but I think he has ADHD"

And it's like, first of all that's a headcannon you have, where as his race is very much cannon. so I think even if you have the adhd headcannon, which to be clear, I do, you still need to lend more credence to the marginalized identities that are in fact cannon about him. That's not to say that these two things are contradictory it's just to say that you need to treat your headcannons about a character of color with awareness for how their race overlaps with other identities they might have and how their race might be impacting their behavior, and how projecting issues onto them, even if those issues are things you yourself struggle with, might be perceived by fans of color who are already constantly fielding racism both in fandom and in their every day lives.

but second of all, and I cannot stress this enough, yall are ableist as fuck.

Like, I simply do not know how to explain to you people that Ed losing Interest in Stede like that would not be a symptom of ADHD because treating PEOPLE like HYPERFIXATIONS is not a symptom of ADHD. If someone loses interest in you because they have adhd, and I feel like I've said this before, one of three things happened. A. they did not lose interest in you they are just forgetful and do not experience friendship decay so they think you are still friends, B. You were never a friend to begin with you were someone they exclusively did their hyperfixations with, or C. you are blaming the ADHD for something completely unrelated friendships fall apart all the time.

And it's like that example is just the most egregious. half the time when I see ADHD headcannons nobody's talking about like... Ed picking up a brand new activity on a whim, or him tattooing himself because he's experiencing the evil boredom. It's all gotta be traits contradicted by canon. And often it has to be about pain and suffering, and often it really just feels like an excuse to make up bullshit about Ed while beating the racism allegations.

and there's two enormous issues with this. The first one is that if you're gonna have a headcannon about a character you have to figure out how to apply the headcanon to that character without making up a brand new guy. Ed is in the 99th percentile in terms of executive function. His executive functioning skills are genuinely a strength for him. He can't stand mess and he keeps a clean ship, he doesn't get angry unless directly provoked. He also has a large number of shitty tattoos on his person, he stims, he's probably got some hyperactivity going on, and some emotional dis-regulation in terms of managing his disappointment and catastrophising. You have to actually look at the character and figure out what cannon things translate into ADHD and what adhd traits are contradicted by cannon and if you're just hollowing him out and putting an ablist idea of ADHD in as a stand in for a personality.

Like.. ok. My favoriate cannon ADHD rep in the world is the Percy Jackson series. Every one of those kids has adhd and dyslexia. This does not stop Annabeth from being a very functional character with a million irons in the fire who's an avid reader and a Smart Girl TM. Percy by contrast cannot focus for five seconds especially when you put a book in front of him, but he can think on his feet really well. Both of these characters are fairly realistic representations of ADHD because sometimes ADHD is severe executive dysfunction and mess and emotional dis-regulation, sometimes ADHD is having a million projects going at once in a desperate attempt to beat the evil boredom and sometimes it's being able to pick up new things with relative ease. Different people have different levels of these things, which is why in my favoriate childhood book series Rick Riordan was able to have so many different diverse characters with distinct personalities and have them all believably have ADHD.

But a lot of people who headcannon Ed as ADHD don't seem to be interested in figuring out how Ed's personality is compatible with that headcannon, they just want to hollow him out and give him every symptom ever and it's just like... oh, so that's what you think of us then. got it cool.

hi! it's actually lowkey the opposite? i had a Bad Time at the start of 2023, and completely forgot like pretty much everything until i pulled myself out of that hole. i started writing again in july but i figured with the intense delay between my last post and now i should get two chapters out instead of one. anyway, chapter nine is kind of a quicker one (and i had already written the c romance lock and one of the other ro scenes, and chapter eight was previously drafted i just had to edit and add a few ro scenes spontaneously), so i figured why not. i'm also gonna release chapter five publically then, so ive been going back and making sure the first five chapters r as polished as i alone can make them.

if i simply cannot for some reason finish chapter nine by the end of this month, i'll just go ahead with posting chapter eight, so it won't be fully no updates for a while. it clocks in at about 20k words (and the parent scene is not written and will not be written), so its not unsubstantial i hope.

chapters 10&11 are both bigger than 8&9 in theory, but ive already written the romance locks for k&a (which take place in those chapters respectively) so there's a little work done there too. all in all, i'm about 75% of the way done w ZD and i have no plans to abandon it given how much it's taken to get this far,, im just bad w social media bc it gives me a lot of anxiety lol. im gonna log off again until ch. 9 is done (or aug. 31 hits lol), and im sorry if i havent gotten to ur ask, this was literally just the one at the top of my inbox. ik im rambling, but tysm for reading this far <3
