"Jeez, man, this is nuts." Topper lets out a low whistle, staring at a boat nestled in someone's garden bed. "Agatha's a bitch," Rafe mutters. "Damn right, she is," Kelce adds as the three boys gape at the sight.
"I can't get it outta my head. It's on repeat. 'Your move, broski.'" Topper repeats JJ's words from a couple nights ago, when a gun was pointed at his head. "Bro, he had a semiautomatic pointed right at you!" Kelce chimes in.
"That's what I'm saying. It's insane!" Topper scoffs, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "Safety off!" he emphasizes, his voice rising. Kelce shakes his head, his expression a mix of disbelief and disdain. "That pogue," he mutters, his tone dripping with contempt.
Rafe, who had been staring intently at the waterline, snaps back to the conversation. His gaze sharpens as he looks at his friends. "They're freakin' pogues, man," he declares, his voice tinged with a mix of anger and exasperation.
"You know, you should get a piece," Rafe suggests, his voice steady as he looks at Topper. The gravity of his words hangs in the air. "What do you mean?" Topper asks, a puzzled expression crossing his face as he turns to Rafe.
"You gotta fight fire with fire and defend the homestead," Rafe replies matter-of-factly, as if it's the most logical solution in the world. "Better than being caught without one," Kelce shrugs, offering his own brand of nonchalant support. Rafe nods in agreement, his gaze unwavering.
"Listen guys, I'm gonna get him back, all right? I'm making it a little project of mine," Topper reassures them. Rafe hums approvingly, patting his friend's back. "Yeah, you should," he affirms with a smirk.
Kelce suddenly taps Rafe's shoulder. "Yo, that's y/n." Rafe and Topper turn their heads in unison, their curiosity piqued. They see you kneeling on one knee, talking gently to Joy, your mum's best friend's little daughter.
"Oh, so you left her in the boat?" you ask softly, your voice filled with understanding. Joy nods, her eyes wide with worry. "Okay, can you tell me what she looks like?" you stand up, smoothing down your shorts. Joy looks up at you, her face serious. "She has a trunk and blue eyes," she replies, her small voice clear.
The three boys watch intently as you smile reassuringly at Joy. "Okay, I'm gonna get her for you," you say, turning towards the boat. "Be careful of the electricity," Joy quietly warns. You smile to yourself, touched by her concern, and tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear as you carefully step onto the boat.
"Don't worry, I'll be okay. It's really dangerous, so stay there, okay?" you reassure Joy with a confident smile. Rafe, standing a few feet away, removes his sunglasses, his eyes narrowing as he watches your every move. "What's she doing?" he mutters to no one in particular, his concern evident.
"Watch her fall and make a big drama out of it," your brother scoffs, his tone dripping with sarcasm. He crosses his arms, clearly unimpressed by your antics. Rafe glances at Topper, eyebrows raised. "Hey! There's 14,000 volts in those wires," Joy's mum calls out urgently from the porch, her voice filled with anxiety.
You take a slow, deliberate step onto the plank, feeling it wobble slightly under your weight. With a mischievous grin, you glance back at the onlookers, enjoying the attention. A quiet shriek escapes your lips as you pretend to lose your balance for a moment.
"Hey, y/n, be careful!" Rafe hollers, his voice louder and more urgent now. He takes a step forward, his body tense with concern. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me," your mum mutters as she walks out onto the yard, her face a mask of frustration and fear. "Y/n, get down now!" she shouts, her tone a mix of anger and desperation.
"Mum, calm down. I'm an athlete. I got this," you reply playfully, flashing her a reassuring smile as you continue your careful approach toward the boat. Your confidence does little to ease the tension among the onlookers. The plank creaks under your weight, but you maintain your balance,
"You're gonna get electrocuted! Get down!" your mum screams, her voice trembling with panic. You ignore her, your focus on the gentle sway of the boat as you step onto it. "She just wants attention," Topper mutters, rolling his eyes in exasperation. "Are you kidding me?" your mum persists, her tone growing more frantic. You turn to face her, a playful grin spreading across your face as you shimmy your shoulders, teasingly.
"Oh my—no. When I tell your dad about this, y/n!" Your mum exclaims, her voice a mix of exasperation and genuine fear. "Y/n, that's not fucking funny," Rafe yells in annoyance, his frustration bubbling to the surface. He watches you with a mixture of concern and irritation, unable to shake off the worry that gnaws at him.
"Little fried y/n," Topper comments, a smirk playing on his lips as he observes the scene unfold. Kelce looks at him, puzzled by the comment, but Topper simply shrugs it off. "Top, your sister's crazy, man," Kelce remarks, shaking his head in disbelief as Topper snorts, "Tell me about it."
With a knowing smile, you reach the boat and spot the disconnected wire exactly where you expected it to be. "I see her!" you call out across the yard as you place a steady hand on the boat.
"Y/n!" your mum's voice echoes for what feels like the hundredth time, a mixture of frustration and genuine concern laced in her tone. "When I tell your dad—" Her words are abruptly cut off by your convincing scream as you pretend to slip into the boat. "Fuck—" Rafe's reaction is immediate, his instincts kicking in as he rushes forward.
After a few seconds, you grab the cord, swinging it in front of you with a smile. Kelce breaks out in laughter at your prank, the sound mingling with the collective sighs of everyone watching. Rafe's face fills with relief and annoyance as his tongue pokes agains this inner cheek. "It's disconnected!" you announce with a laugh.
"Holy shit!" Kelce smacks Rafe's shoulder, his eyes wide with amusement as he looks at you, clearly annoyed and unimpressed. "For the love of God," your mum mutters as she slips her sunglasses back on and strides away, clearly needing a moment to recover from the prank.
"She got you good, man," Kelce snickers, unable to hide his laughter at Rafe's bewildered expression. "Absolute suckers!" you crow from the boat, your laughter ringing out triumphantly. "Babe, you should see your face," you giggle, retrieving Joy's teddy bear. "Yeah, okay, yeah, I'm sorry that I care. All right, guilty," Rafe throws his hands up in mock surrender though his face expression remained annoyed.
As Rafe stands there, still trying to process what just happened, he feels a hand on his shoulder. "Congrats, dude. You're officially her bitch," Topper says with a smirk, offering his congratulations in his own unique way. Rafe rolls his eyes at the jest.
"Alright." Topper gives Rafe a hearty pat on the back. "Officially, did you know that? You're officially her bitch, alright?" Topper's laughter rings out as he teases Rafe, but Rafe isn't having any of it. With a swift motion, he slaps away Topper's hand. "Shut the fuck up, dude," he grumbles, shaking his head in annoyance before striding over to you.
"See! Just further proved my point, bro!" Topper yells amidst his laughter, clearly enjoying the reaction he's getting. Kelce joins in, chuckling at the playful banter unfolding before him.
Rafe reaches you, offering his hand despite his lingering annoyance. You giggle at the exchange, finding his frustration amusing. "Are you fucking crazy?" Rafe spits, his irritation evident, but you can't help but laugh at his reaction.
"Aww, I love you too, babe," you playfully pout, quickly kissing his lips before turning your attention back to Joy, handing her teddy bear over with a smile. Rafe stands there with a defeated look, unable to stay mad for long.

・Haunted by the legacy of the Queens that came before her, Aerea, was like an underdog rising to show just how capable she was.
・It had surprised many by how well she ruled. Always being early for council meetings, keeping every White Cloak in line and telling them off whenever they needed it.
・She was very mature; a large shock as she was a passionate and wild woman.
・Many did not think she would thrive under such pressures but that was completely untrue.
・As the rider of Balerion - that should have proved just how well she was at leading. The large dragon had welcomed her gladly as its rider.
・Aerea, on her many royal processions, saw what it was like for the smallfolk. Aka., dwindling food, a lot of violence, hardships etc.
・She implemented particular programs to combat such issues, and ensured her subjects would not go hungry. Which only grew the love for both her and Balerion.
・Ironically enough, the dragon that was used to conquor the Seven Kingdoms, was now being used to create and nurture instead of destroy.

・She wasn't a 'normal' queen - no frivolity nor pagentry.
・Hated wearing formal wear. She was seen in pants 90% of the time
・As the Queen, Alyssa influenced a lot of the fashion in the Red Keep. A few brave women started wearing pants as well - and like a domino affect, it started to change the culture too.
・Alyssa implemented reforms in taxation and land ownership to alleviate burdens on the common folk, ensuring that the wealth of the realm is more equitably distributed.
・She loved showing off Meleys, and the Red Queen did not mind it either - as long as she got a good big feast afterward.
・LOVED sneaking out at night, using the hidden passageways of the castle. Not just being amongst the smallfolk but listening to how they felt about things and how life was down there

I'm sure that a PJ book mentions that the immortal children of the gods like to annoy and play practical jokes on their parents' half-breed children, how the yanderes would react seeing them Percy being bullied and belittled by her brothers and sisters, this is already shown to us in the last hero of Olympus when Triton wants to make Percy understand that she is a coward and emphasizes to him that he is the heir of the seas (I've always wondered what the need for an "heir" is if his father is immortal) and that she is not technically a princess according to the label she is a Bastard because Sally was not even Poseidon's concubine when he was with her and that those who are true princesses are the two daughters of Poseidon with Amphitrite being the legitimate wife and Queen from Atlantis (her daughters are called Cimponela and Rhodes if I'm not mistaken)

im trying to remember canon, but i think triton was the only sibling percy met who was a jerk to him and DIDN'T get killed/attacked for it??? 😭😭
literally most of the siblings percy met tried to kill her and she retaliated by killing them so even tho they bullied her, she DEFINITELY dealt with them promptly 💀💀💀
BUT ANYWAY, poseidon and hades would be the most pissed about this i think.
poseidon's already mad that he has all these kids that are either ugly af, monstrous, and just "imperfect" to him in general, and now he finds out that they've been bullying his daughter (and, in more extreme cases, trying to kill her). like, how DARE they? this would also fuel his hatred for pjo poseidon because "control your fucking sperms you pos, they keep attacking MY daughter 😤". since he can't kill the godly children, he'd probably just toss them into tartarus as a form of "time out" asjfhjahvf 😭😭😭
hades is GREATLY disappointed but not to a murderous extent at least. "this is not how you treat your little siblings, young man/lady 😠, i expected better from you". he's THEEEE big brother of big brothers, so he would be very disgusted at how pjo! posideon's kids are behaving (and the other godly children tbh cuz wtf leave your little half-blood siblings alone!!!). he would also click his tongue at pjo! poseidon's poor parenting and would probs scold him to get better control over his godly children: "your children are bullies, you should be ashamed of yourself for letting this go on!!! DO BETTER!"
as for beelzebub, he'd be the same as poseidon but more swift about it. the SECOND he realizes that percy's godly siblings like to either bully/attack her, he's throwing them into tartarus. won't even hesitate or anything, he is NOT letting this go any longer because he's paranoid and overprotective like that.
apollo would be a mix between hades and beelzebub. since these godly kids are his beloved's siblings, he would TRY to tell them to either leave her alone or be nicer, but they're obviously not gonna listen so he's gonna whisk percy away to delos (kidnap) while he "deals with her siblings 😊". can't risk his darling being killed!
as for loki, he'd be pissed at the treatment, BUT he would encourage percy to get revenge. she'd most likely say no cuz she honestly doesn't wanna deal with her godly siblings (can't remember), so he would avenge her instead by playing some "harmless" pranks on them.

i kinda wanna talk about how an shiraishi feels relatable to me as an aromantic person
disclaimer: i am not saying that an shiraishi is canonically aromantic. i am just discussing the relation of my experiences to hers, which also ties into why i headcanon her as such. if u hc an otherwise that is perfectly fine!!! u r super cool
so basically, i know this may surprise people, but an's relationship with kohane of all characters is what started to make me headcanon her as aromantic.
the way she treats kohane, specifically how she is super affectionate to her and how she talks about her constantly, is incredibly similar to how i used to treat one of my friends.
for a while, i thought i had a crush on them because that's what all my other friends told me it was, but in reality, it was a squish. i was super affectionate to him like an was to kohane and wouldn't shut up about it, which led to my other friends believing i had a crush on them.
not only does an's general behavior remind me of that, but an's behavior in her first mixed event reminds me of something else i went through too— accidentally leading someone on that you're friends with that has romantic interest in you.
the way kohane compliments an and blushes around her during the event while an seems oblivious and treats kohane's compliments like it was just a friend thing is very similar to things i've gone through... especially since i've had to go through this kind of stuff three times now
i also headcanon kohane and an to be in a queerplatonic relationship... which i think one of my favorite things is about how the whole concept of partners in vbs lore pushes the boundaries of traditional relationships.
in nene's 2nd mixed, the character that akito plays's supposed partner is a ladle. this means that partners can be inanimate objects.
in akito's 2nd mixed, ishihara's dog, max, is his partner. this means that partners can be animals and also emphasizes how partners can be platonic. this is further supported by the 2nd white day card article having the artist describe touya's dragon in his card as his partner (although its likely to be an akito reference)
akito and touya are described as best friends. if you see it as nothing further than that, then partners can also be best friends
taiga and ken were also partners, but ken is married to yuka (not saying you can't ship them though)
idk i feel like this is clpls way of saying "it can be whatever the fuck you want!!" and i respect that.
but anyways that's basically why i find an relatable in this regard... and i think we should acknowledge vbs's queerness in this kind of angle more often, too

Chloe doesn't need to be the fandom punching bag
And before anyone tries to say I'm defending her actions in Do You Wanna Hang:
1. No I'm fucking not
2. Like all the characters in the show, she's much more nuanced than the 2017 one-dimensional fanonization a lot of older fans still have lingering on their tongues
Since it's the elephant in the room, let's discuss DYWH a little more in depth. (By all means if the subject matter is triggering to you, skim or skip as much as you need to.)
Are Chloe's actions completely out of line? Yes, I'm not denying that. Chloe does in fact kiss Jeremy unprompted, even after he expresses that he "has to go."

But might I remind you that the squip is Literally Preventing Jeremy From Moving And Forcing Him To Stay Just A Few Lines Before This.

Should Chloe have kissed Jeremy when he expressed that he wants to leave? No, and we don't know how stubborn she would've been even if she was sober. (Not that the alcohol is an excuse, obviously.)
On the topic of alcohol:

Despite what many animatics would have you believe, the squip is the one that makes Jeremy drink, THEN makes him kiss Chloe. Chloe didn't do that. All she did was hand him the bottle.

"But Chloe continues to harass him!" I hear you say. Well, let's look at the next few lines, shall we?

Hear me out on this: Before Jake shows up, Chloe's ready to give up. Katlyn's delivery (in two river, I cant speak for off-bway and on) is dejected and tired. Jeremy's giving really mixed signals, she never even liked him in the first place (see "you're less cute when you're talking" from before the Japanese section), she only ever wanted to make Jake (and probably Brooke) jealous, plus she's REALLY drunk and probably starting to feel sick from it. She's "had enough."
Jake finally shows up though, and NOW "the fun begins." Cue the fake sex noises and emphasizing that they're on Jake's parents' bed.
Plus, isn't it weird that only AFTER Jake can see her that she goes on top of Jeremy? She's not touching him while she's being loud and obnoxious, not as it's written in the script. (Granted it doesn't say when Jeremy's shirt came off, but only now does she try to make things LOOK incriminating now that Jake's here.)

She never wanted to sleep with Jeremy. She just wanted Jake to think she did.
Should she have ever put Jeremy in that situation in the first place? FUCKING DURR NO SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE. But can we please just fucking remember who the real villain of the show is? Ya know, the one force that actually made it so that Jeremy COUDLNT LEAVE.
The SECOND the squip is down for the count (after it spouts of "WARNING WARNING" and isn't heard from again until after Christine leaves), Jeremy guns it! And Chloe doesn't stop him! Jake is pissed off, mission accomplished! She doesn't need Jeremy anymore!
Chloe's an insecure teenage girl that's afraid of being insignificant so she makes stupid fucking choices. DYWH in particular is a REALLY stupid choice.
I'm not asking you to forgive her. I'm not asking you to listen to DYWH on repeat. I'm not even asking you to like Chloe. Maybe just don't declare her the worst character in the show and make others others feel like shit for playing with her character and making her more than Hot Girl #1.
Chloe is among the least developed characters, even after script changes, so maybe you can't pick out a lot of redeeming qualities. Maybe there are none in canon. That's never stopped fandom from making things up and projecting onto their blorbos.
She's catty, she's mean, she's pretty much written to be unlikable. But she's a terrible actress, she snaps a hanger in half at the mere mention of Madeline's name, she gives Jeremy the Absolute Most Backhanded Advice during VIMH and it's Hilarious in both versions of the script. ("She probably thinks that acne is hot," she a little confused but she got the spirit. "Don't dump her on Halloween," YOU CAUSED THAT DRAMA YOURSELF. Call it gaslighting but it's Literally played as a joke, much the same as her mini rant in the second verse of Smartphone Hour. And while we're talking about it,, the truth literally comes out during The Play when Brooke and Chloe find out that neither of them slept with Jeremy. How much that gets elaborated on off-screen is up for fanfic/headcanon to decide.)
As much as people can see all sides of the squipcident (ie how Jeremy and Michael both went through hell in their own ways) it seems like EVERYONE demonizes Chloe for one (1) scene that had way more squip interferance than it seems like ANYONE will admit.
I can compartmentalize: Chloe fucked up AND she has really funny moments. Chloe fucked up AND she has a lot of societal pressures as a conventionally attractive teenage girl. Chloe fucked up AND it barely holds a candle to the part the squip played in Jeremy's life ON HALLOWEEN ALONE.
She kissed him once unprompted, got on top of him for 3 seconds, and certainly made him uncomfortable. But the fucking squip assaulted him more than Chloe EVER did by MAKING him drink, MAKING him kiss her when he didn't want it the first time, PREVENTING him from moving, and KNOWING that Chloe was going to try and make a move on him IN THE FIRST FUCKING PLACE and ACTIVELY KEEPING HIM THERE when it surely would've known that there was SOME PROBABLE OUTCOME where he wouldn't be ok with it, if there was EVER an outcome where he would be ok with it.
Why the fuck are squip redemption fics a thing? (That's a whole other rant on its fucking own, but I have work tomorrow so)

Ah man i really dislike fandom's general behaviour regarding canon vs not-canon (shoutout to the ff7 fandom for not being normal abt the compilation :) ) There is this belief that canon means good or is some sort of prestige, and that's why some ppl insist so much on placing their favorite spin offs or side stories at canon level, or try to "downgrade" some canon story bc they didnt like it. And in the end canon in terms of quality means nothing! I acknowledge that, for example, metroid other m is technically more canon than the metroid prime trilogy (including how it went out of its way to make the mp games explicitly not compatible w the main canon 🙄), yet i also will say that mom sucks horribly and will ignore its mistake of an existence while the mp trilogy is Peak. Heck i personally like the lore introduced in AM2R despite it being a fan game (aka def not canon). Or for a diff example, the CoD manga could be said to be less canon than PtR, but both are beautifully written and introduce plenty of interesting elements and themes to the main CoD story (plus Hector look at Hector the he hes so- ).

If you like canon, good! If you like an spin off, good! If you like the fanon/headcanons, good! You can try to mix up elements from both into your own version or interpretation, to do fanfics or fanart, etc. Something being canon or not is an objective (if debatable in certain cases) fact, but that doesnt means you need to like it or not

The CoD mangas are an interesting example. PtR was written by Ayami Kojima, who had a hand in creating at least Hector and Isaac, so it's technically a more "official" product than the MF manga which was written by a hired writer; but Kojima herself considers the MF manga more canon, likely because it's more detailed:

man as a original triology lover your impressions of the 2nd triology is scaring me haha. I know I should make my own impressions for the game but man it feels like Nick, Phoenix, Maya, Trucy and Apollo just keeps getitng written dirty.
I definitely think there's a notable quality drop and the more I play the more I understand the fans who only respect AA123 as canon, lol. I think it's tough because I think once you decide to continue playing past 3, there's not really a good off-ramp. AA4 is the best game of the "trilogy" imo BUT I think it makes an unsatisfactory ending for the series, especially for Phoenix (or any of the trilogy characters who evaporated off screen), so once you play it it's like... well now I gotta do 5 and 6... but they're really not coherent sequels to 4 like, at all, nor are they really related to each other in the way 1-2-3 make a cohesive trilogy. With each new entry you can feel Capcom behind the scenes trying to overcorrect for mistakes made in the previous entry.
I'm on the last non-DLC case of AA6 now and personally on the whole I think it is much better than AA5. I'm sort of surprised that even among fans who like the later games more, it seems like people prefer Dual Destinies. Spirit of Justice is a mixed bag that is enraging me quite often but it's also been more successful at hitting some interesting beats, and the overall quality of everything in the game (sprites, GUI, puzzle solving mechanics, etc) is leagues ahead of DD, which had negative interest in being a game or letting you solve puzzles or like... play anything.
(Seriously I think fandom gets so wrapped up in the story elements, or maybe so much of fandom is watching LPs instead of playing that they don't notice, but I can't get emphasize how much AA5 DOES NOT let you PLAY it beyond hitting 'next' in dialogue slides. There is almost no gameplay even by Ace Attorney standards, it's insane lmao.)
There are some things the sequel trilogy does that I really like. I really like a lot of the new characters, and there's some fun/cute moments with the og crew too. As a Doctor Who fan I feel like I was well equipped to mentally categorize pieces of one franchise on the scale from "most canon" to "least canon", lol, which is helping a bit; canon is a liar sometimes. But it's a frustrating experience and I can't really recommend playing unless someone is so invested they feel compelled to series completionism (me) OR .... so casually invested they just wanna play some mystery games and aren't gonna be bothered if blorbo seems out of character.

Okay, I have a couple more theories about Wish. As a fan of Star Darlings and Wish, I might be mixing a few things together (because of my personal headcanon), but I'll try to explain it with and without the Star Darlings context.
Alright, I still stand by my belief that Magnifico is a Starling. However, the last time I watched Wish, I think there's another character who could also be one. I'm referring to Asha's father. They don't really explain or focus much on him, but the way they refer to him as a "philosopher" and how he gave so much importance to the stars makes me feel like it would be interesting if he were also a Starling. In non-Star Darlings terms, he would be like Magnifico, a being from another place with magic, but with completely different ambitions.

So, the "little story" I created is about how a Starling left their place in Starland to discover the world for themselves, eventually fell in love with a human, and started a family in Wishworld (Earth). And that's why his family is deeply rooted in star beliefs and understands the effects of stars and wishes on people much better.
Also, I want to believe that Asha's selection for this super-powerful wish and her selection as a fairy godmother wasn't random, but because technically she would be half Starling, so it makes sense (at least to me) that they chose her.

I also don't quite know how to explain it, but I've been thinking about how to add Star to the equation. I really feel that Asha, in her world, whether canon or headcanon, is a truly special character. She's the kind of character who radiates positivity and helps others no matter what. I feel that's who Asha is, and as someone so special, she shouldn't receive just a simple wish orb. This relates to a previous post I made about Star. She should receive something that, like her, is equally unique and special, like Star. I mean, Star isn't just a star because it can do so much more than one that's just stuck in the sky. It's also not a simple wish orb because it's not something specific that Asha requested, like something materialistic; it's something connected to Asha's feelings. In fact, maybe I would have liked it if the movie had emphasized more when Magnifico captures Star, like when he destroys Sakina's wish, since in theory Star is Asha's wish. But well, that's just a small detail.

Another detail, but this one is small. It's about Asha and Cinderella's Fairy Godmother. Really, this was just a big reference to her. It's not that I dislike the character's race change or anything, but I would like both characters to interact as two separate characters. Also, people forget that, actually, all magical characters, or most that I remember, use the same shade of blue. So… it was a small detail, but I like to think that Asha is a new fairy godmother in the group of Disney wizards. I mean, I'll keep calling her a princess because she's my princess and I love her, but I also love that she's the most recent magician or fairy godmother in Disney. And yes… I think that's everything. ❤️

About this album
"Thort’s latest addition to the indie rap canon with Smokey131 is all you would expect from Australia’s weirdest wordsmith and Germany’s throwback master producer. Following Weightlifters, which was and probably still is my favorite Thorts album, Together Alone finds the duo with some big shoes to fill and I think it can safely be said they’ve managed to duplicate the magic that made Weightlifters so special.
Smokey’s beatmaking has, to me, has always shown an abiding love and respect for that classic pre-turn of the century era sound. It utilizes the dustiest of jazzy samples, looping them in such a way as to emphasize their percussiveness over melody. Think Muggs or Ant before he Turned That Snare Down (as opposed to other jazzy sample choppers from that era). The result are these gloomy, eerie offerings that are so effective with Thorts sense of off color humor and willingness to address difficult subjects and ideas.
I’ve heard a few other rappers songs with Smokey, and I truly believe Thorts is the one most suited for these soundscapes out of all of them. I expect much of that comes from that fact that these two undeniable veterans came up steeped in that sonic quality of the mid to late 90s, so when it comes to the proper treatment of some throwback jams it just comes naturally.
I dunno. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what works so well when these two hit the studio. But as I said above, if you’re looking for something dark, deep, moving, gritty, and above all nostalgic look no further than Together Alone (but do yourself a favor and cop Weightlifters also because Thorts131 shit is as close as I’ve ever found to the rap that got me into rap a few decades back.)
Oh and big ups to CalQTeK, Staplemouth (these guys should do a full length together),Parkwaechter Harlekin, heirMAX and the peerless Kady Starling for the guest vocalizing, and Swab for some razor sharp cuts. Every guest feature elevates the song and meshes well with the mood, something that is not always possible working with quirky personalities like those behind Thorts131."

But on that note, what is your opinion on how the boys should affect one another?
A popular opinion on the more grittier/mature side of the Fandom is that the rrb should think less of one another as brothers because they're evil. It never makes sense to me though since the boys are still together as a trio. In some fics they're even all each of them has before meeting the girls again.
I always figured the trope exists because it's edgy and some people want to emphasize that the boys like the girls so much it surpasses their brotherly bond.
In certain scenarios, I can get it. Hopeless romance fills the void that is my shipping heart. I really want the ppg and rrb to be so in love nothing could break that, even if they broke up, I love the thought of them being so in love and distraught. In the same breath, it always causes post realization 😶 after the climax I feel a little... judgemental about their whole relationship.

Anyway, this is such a fun ask!!
I know I’ve talked about it before, but I’m the oldest of three with two younger brothers. A lot of my inspiration for the rrb, I draw straight from my own relationships with my brothers. We’re a tight-knit group, even if my youngest brother insists he’s a lone wolf 🙄🙄
Obviously, every sibling group is going to be different, and people only write what they know, so I tend to make the boys close no matter what because of my own relationships. But given the show's canon, which highlights the importance of love and family, I think that's how both sets of triplets would be anyway, and not this weird, grittier version you see in most fics. So, nah, I don’t subscribe to the “we’re evil, so we can’t love each other or have anything in common” mindset I see with rrb characterizations. Like you said, it wouldn't make sense for three people who practically hate or disrespect each other to be a trio.
Plus, it’s so much funnier and exciting to write a family that’s evil together (that's also why I love the Smith Family so much). Most "evil" characters in folktales were just marginalized people irl who came together because the rest of society kicked them to the curb. Why can't that be how it is for Mojo and the boys? I definitely think the boys should have a bond, and I think that bond should affect their decisions!
Of course, it doesn't have to be a healthy bond. I think it would make complete sense if these three boys were toxically co-dependent on each other, which would fit in with the gritty and mature themes you described in the ask just as well as this weird apathy (? aloofness?). I'd also argue you can do the same with healthy bonds, too, especially if you throw romance into the mix.
Like, for example, my brother, Shane, is in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend and moved a state away to be with her. Despite his gf being a lovely person, Log (my other brother) and I were still salty about it. Because Shane is the one who inspires my Boomer, it would be fun to write a story where Brick and Butch just don’t like whoever Boomer end's up with, not because they’re apathetic towards Boomer and his love interest but because they’re afraid he’ll leave them (this is the familial conflict part). But because they love Boomer, they have the incentive to get over themselves and accept this new person into their lives, maybe even for the better (this is the character growth part).
Also, I think romantic love can't surpass brotherly love because you're dealing with two different types of love. When I say this, I'm afraid people think I believe siblings automatically love each other, which isn't what I believe. Sibling relationships are still relationships that you have to work at, so when I say "brotherly love," I'm literally referring to the people who chose to love their siblings because they love them, not because they feel they have to love them, though that does make for an interesting story (which could fit into those gritty themes once again).
But I'm digressing! When I say romantic love and brotherly love are two different types of love I mean, for example, using the blues, Boomer isn't getting the same social fulfillment from Bubbles that he would get from his brothers, so there's no reason for Boomer to ditch them over Bubbles. Of course, that could be part of the conflict. He could ditch them for her, but the plotline shouldn't just end there! It needs to be resolved, either by making amends, or breaking up the brother relationships for good (because even siblings can "break up"), or something frustrating and ambiguous, but you can't ignore it.
So, if the fic you're reading pairs the blues together and Boomer is no longer getting any social fulfillment from his brothers, either that should be a significant plot point used to create a conflict OR it's just bad characterization.
Unfortunately, many romance fics aren't good because the characters aren't well-rounded. Even if the plot revolves around an obsession with another person, you still have to show how the obsession destroys (or "surpasses") other well-rounded relationships. You're probably judgemental about the relationships in some of these fics because after the climax, after one of the boys "gets" one of the girls, what else is left? That's it. They're together. End of story. Either they get married, or they break up.
That's why the climax in a good obsession story isn't the character getting their obsession; it's when they lose it. SO like, buttercup and blossom stealing bubbles back, or butch/brick killing her, or bubbles killing boomer (the list of ideas can go on).
If that's not the type of story you want to write, you must give your characters other relationships and goals. And if it's done correctly, your ships are better for it!! Just like irl you need hobbies outside of your partner.
So yep, that's the long and rambly answer, haha, but the short answer boils down to characterization! It's my opinion that the rrb should affect one another, but how is up to the story you write! It can be unhealthy or healthy, but I really don't think they'd ignore each other. And if they openly disrespected each other, like I've seen in a few fics, I think they'd punch each other out.
On the flip side, i don't think they would be super lovey-dovey bros for lyfe kind of people. haha there's the gritty stuff you were talking about, but my other pet peeve is the stories that make brick into a dad and butch/boomer his bumbling, idiotic sons. that's too much brother love for me lmao

Hi there and thank you for asking for my advice!🥰 I hope I don’t get too technical in my explanation, but consider it a professional distortion because I specialize in this very field. I will try to keep it as simple as possible but don’t hesitate to ask me further questions if you want to go deeper. Also, no question is stupid, and all deserve an answer. It is right to ask anything about what you doubt or are curious about. If you find someone in me who can satisfy them, I’ll gladly answer, even if within the limits of my knowledge🥹
Na’vi is an arbitrarily created language, like Esperanto, and this makes it a little easier to grasp and study than a natural language, as grammar and phonetics should have no exceptions because of the evolution of the language in time and space. Although Na’vi actually does have them in pronunciation due to actor errors that have become canonical.
Fictional languages for cinematic use have become a very serious area of filmmaking, particularly in historical, fantasy, and sci-fi. James Cameron's will for the Na'vi language to sound authentic is no surprise. The aim was for it to sound alien, but for it to be replicable by the actors, whether they were playing natives or humans approaching the language. So, basically, it involved the phonatory apparatus of the Na’vi being similar if not identical to the human one, but the sounds produced were mixed to make them sound from another world. Paul Frommer (the Na’vi language inventor) combined elements from various languages, including Polynesian, Eastern European, Japanese, and Swahili. From Japanese and Swahili in particular, he took the agglutinative structure. Swahili is a lingua franca that arose from trade between the inhabitants of the East African coast and the Arabs, from whom it has been heavily influenced.
I am doing all this tedious background because the structure of full names in Na’vi is derived from Arabic more or less (Arabic names are far more complex).

But to give a dry answer on the structure of Na'vi names without at least an excursion into the language itself seemed to me to be fragmentary.

As usual, the only things that are hard lines are the squicks listed on the Yuletide form, but I'd prefer if you respected my other dislikes/squicks as well, even if our likes don't match and you chose not to use any of these prompts! Feel free to mix and match what you like ;)
I'm a very wordy person overall, so I mostly tried to place things as bulletpoints. I'd rather you have plenty to choose from and a good grasp on my likes/dislikes if you don't have an idea in mind already, than you wanting ideas and not finding any you like!
As a warning, the fandom-specific sections are exactly as in the form! They're here mostly for treats and archiving, so there is no need to read them again if you already went through the assignment info!

GENERAL LIKES
Truly egregious amounts of pining! Truly egregious amounts of increasingly obvious denial!
Non-established relationships - what I love most is the progression of the dynamics between two characters! The "pre-relationship or gen" tag works great for me!
Fake dating - it's one of my favourite tropes if you want to give it a whirl. Same for time loop fics!
As more or less stated on the second item, either gen or romance is fine! What really does it for me is the development of the dynamics between the characters, and how they find unprecedented levels of kinship and trust and intimacy and comfort and understanding with each other, not necessarily romantic acts. In fact, I don't particularly like huge romantic acts either, and would love a more subtle sort of thing if you're going down the romance road! (also if you wanna do like REALLY messy crunchy love-hate-leaning-on-hate relationships i also love those, but there should be some genuine fondness somewhere beneath all the rest);
If the characters are already petty by nature feel more than free tokeep that in, I love petty bitches;
Sticking to the tone of the original characterizations/canon/humour is definitely a plus! I love when ways of speaking and running gags and references to the original material show up!
Casual intimacy! CASUAL INTIMACY! I'm a sucker for this and it's super fun, especially if placed amidst bickering or an otherwise negative relationship - it throws a whole different depth to their interactions and really shows how comfortable the characters are with each other. DOUBLY so if they have some enmity going on at that point since that makes it downright hilarious and/or really interesting imo. A pair that communicates without needing to use words is also so intimate and great (regardless if they have a friendly relationship at the moment)! I love this kind of thing;
Trope subversion all the way!!!
Usually smooth characters not really knowing how to react at the possibility of feelings or the presence of the person they may or may not have feelings for, I'm so weak for that;
Enemies/rivals-to-reluctant-allies-(to-maybe-friends?)-to-lovers are *chef's kiss*;
I really need to emphasize how much I don't need a full romantic resolution or even a full story/ending resolution - like I said, what I like the most is how the dynamics between the characters evolve, both in gen and in romance! Ambiguous endings are fine both in terms of relationships and plot.
GENERAL YIKES
I really cannot overstate how much I don't want to see pregnancy or motherhood related stuff, mpreg and babies/toddlers included. Kidfics, babyfics, next gen fics, anything related to pregnancy or kids at all. This is my biggest squick alongside scat. Fandoms which have canon moments of this can reference it but I'd prefer if you didn't go super into it (and in the context of MJTY I'd rather it go unmentioned in general);
Unhappy endings (ambiguous or hopeful endings are more than okay!);
On the completely opposite direction, the stereotypical 2.5 kids white picket fence sort of happy ending;
For these fandoms, I'd pass on playing around with gender when it comes to characters that aren't canonly prone to it (RNZ and LQS), and even for those nothing permanent;
Most hard AUs (like merpeople AU or high fantasy AUs) are a pass from me. Further specified under each fandom;
No going into the hows and whys of a character's sexuality or gender or huge discussions of it - if they're bi/ace/etc, then they're bi/ace/etc and that's that, going into the backstory of it and other people's reactions (including their own) is a no from me. I would prefer if there were no depictions of homophobia, sexism, racism, transphobia, etc, even from the mouths of villain/background antagonistic characters;
A huge focus on a character's mental health/neurodivergence/physical disability; do feel free to include them (in particular if they exist in canon) but not center the entire fic on those issues;
Huge dramatic declarations of love (unless it's for a con or a bit);
Huge time skips. Except for some specific situations it makes me feel as if I've missed way too much development, which is my favourite part when it comes to relationships and character development;
Angst is.... *waggles hand*. I don't dislike angst, but it really depends on the kind. I'll give it a hard pass on stuff to do with major character death (unless they get better), sexual abuse, self-harm, gender/sexuality angst, and suchlike. I'd also rather not read one long torture/depression fic. Other than that, feel free to go ahead (but please don't give it an unambiguously bad ending!);
Huge non-canon past trauma;
Cheating and infidelity are HUGE no-nos, and even if you're not writing the characters as a ship please don't place them in other relationships;
Sickfics, dysphoria, deep dives into mental illness and other disorders;
Script-based or roleplay fic is not really my preferred format, I really enjoy prose instead of nearly 100% dialogue!
Tons of gore, permanent disabilitating injury (it's fine if it's like… one limb of your chosing or one eye getting fucked up, but more than that I'll pass), etc. I don't mind it, but I'd rather it not be the main focus of the fic. Note that I mean this for the main characters in particular, if you want to get really into background characters exploding into little bits I'm not stopping you;
Fully unrequited love between the main characters;
Flashback/nightmare/dream sequences.

Moderate masochism (pain is nice - anything from spanking to knife-play is A-OK - but maiming or an actual beating for sexual situations not so much. Dry penetration with no prep is no good (F/M or M/M), but the character being underprepped/understretched or too little lube used if M/M is fine!);

Them being absolutely unhinged for each other (think LQS handing RNZ the axe barely after meeting them, RNZ trading the broken egg for his own, being willing to go hungry for the other's sake without letting them know, etc)
RNZ's canon gender fuckery and crossdressing, and LQS absolutely not being able to deal with it/being weak to Zhu Meng or Ruan Baijie; RNZ getting kind of jealous over himself; RNZ taking LQS's weakness to Zhu Meng/Ruan Baijie to get closer to him/flirt with him or fake-date LQS in front of others
The two of them being tender with each other while very much not being in a relationship (yet). Making everyone wrinkle their noses at them and assume they're together, especially if RNZ is the smuggest bitch on the planet and LQS remains permanently oblivious to how they come across; permanent heart-eyes
RNZ being possessive and clingy over LQS, bonus points if at some point LQS returns the possessiveness (bonus BONUS points if he doesn't even realize that that's what he's doing)
An exploration of the canon bed-sharing they keep doing inside the doors, how RNZ always loves eating LQS's noodles, etc; they trust each other more than anyone else your honour 🥺

Things I'd love to see:
Their post-Prometheus travel and how their relationship might have developed during that time and the difficulties that come with it;
David and Shaw learning to moderately trust/appreciate one another despite... well, everything. Growth!
Missing scene during Prometheus where they get to talk/debate some more and there's some mutual appreciation;
David trying to revive Shaw... and succeeding, to some extent. Either actually succeeding with no twist and having to deal with the fact he actually wants her to live, or bringing her back via experiments that might change her, or building a Shaw simulacrum as a fellow android or ship AI and having to deal with it not really being her anymore;
Shaw deciding to return home or to another colony because David is malfunctioning too much and they got close enough she can't make herself watch him "die" (and then have to deal with the void of space on her own);
A fucked up little relationship where they kind of loathe each other but also couldn't stand to think having to continue without the other;
Returning home for... reasons (David or the ship malfunctioning, Shaw getting sick, finding the Engineers turns out to be a dead end, etc) and Shaw/David having to deal with the terrible fact that they unfortunately want to stick together (whether they like each other or not is irrelevant, but David got used to her treating him like a person and no one else does, and to Shaw he's the only one who experienced everything she did that no one else can hope to believe or understand) and trying to figure out how to do so when Weyland Industries will surely try to get in the way, or how they try to go on to live a "normal" life after all that.
DNWs:
The fic set during/after Alien: Covenant, at least without changes to it to ensure Shaw's survival

The spy vs spy game they're always playing with each other and their relationship is NUTS and I adore it and would love to see more interactions like that
Torture scene or post-torture scene interactions and exploration in regards to their mixed feelings at it happening and what came after (the near-touch, the recovery, the visit, etc)
SGQ and/or GSJ being conflicted about being reluctantly fond of the other despite all of his suspicions/her mission
Post-canon with them finding each other and having a situationship about it (they keep finding each other and spending the night together only for GSJ to keep waking up alone, or help each other when in predicaments/wounded and then run away before the other can catch them, or SGQ building a new identity solely so that she can openly flirt with him in public and him letting it happen, etc)
A slice of life scene of their sham marriage where they're actually fond/tender of the other and spend some time quietly together with mostly minimal scheming
SGQ topping, and this being a central point to their relationship in regards to them being honest with each other/to themselves regarding their own feelings towards the other (SGQ planning to leave; GSJ knowing she's a spy and doing it anyway; post-canon; etc)
GSJ gets wounded and SGQ is struck by how much she actually cares whether he lives or dies, maybe sneaks in for reluctant wound-tending while thinking he's unconscious (or, the other way around, post-torture scene wound-caring on GSJ's part)
Canon deviation FTW! For example, SGQ tried approaching him earlier, a scene went down differently, etc

tagged by @lolotr almost a month ago. it took me a while to get to this, half because i kept forgetting and half because i legitimately struggled to come up with ten different fandoms i can claim to be in, but whos going to pass up a chance to rave about their blorbos
Final Fantasy XIV Online (FFXIV) - i love so many of the characters from this game. its not hard, the game is designed to make you love them. they feel like real people, especially in the last two expansions which emphasized their relationships with each other and with the wol (aka the player character). its difficult to choose one favorite but if i have to id say its gotta be alisaie leveilleur. despite not being relevant to the main story until the second expansion, her character is so rich and compelling. shes just a girl who wants to understand why her beloved grandpa left her to save a bunch of strangers, and she also wants to find out who she is and become her own person out of her familys (and especially her brothers) shadow. she also likes violence and explosions and how can you not enjoy that in a girl. unlike a lot of people who like alisaie, i also love alphinaud, and i love the way they interact. alisaie is my preferred twin but only by a slim margin. you can blame the backwards ass way i played this game for the fact that i love alphinaud even in 2.0
Marvel Comics - obviously its loki laufeyson! name a bitch more iconic. canonically genderfluid since 2014. your doomed by the narrative fave. raised by a father and a society that hated them for who they were, forced into the role of a villain to juxtapose their brother who was the only person to ever believe they could be more, at least until he didnt. killed and ate and burned themselves over and over to become something new. literally broke free from the narrative to become their best self but still a morally dubious shithead trickster in any (well written) form. my absolute blorbo of all time, dm me for a reading list
Norse Mythology - loki laufeyson again lolol. name. a bitch. more. iconic. canonically genderfluid since the viking age. born from a forest fire after lightning struck a tree. canonically hot but in a fucked up and dangerous way. odin was like "whos this hot weirdo" and decided they were brothers. your ultimate doomed by the narrative baddie. prophesied to end the universe. the god of fucking around and finding out. there are so few verifiable facts about this bitch, he is a complete enigma even among the rest of norse mythology which is already so fractured and weird. we straight up dont know how, why, or even IF he was actually worshipped. hes the only god to not have a single village dedicated to him. there are, like, two or three runestones depicting him. snorri made him into a jesus figure in the eddas but he serves so much cunt that he is repeatedly misinterpreted as literal satan. your fave could never.
LegendLark/Dames and Dragons - this is another difficult one because the characters are all so great, but im giving it to laika because i have a funny story about it. my first listen through i was in the middle of the gray manacle arc when i started asking myself who my favorite was. i decided it was laika literally the episode before she leaves 🥹
Dungeons and Daddies - i feel like my favorite should be scary, as someone who was once a goth/emo teen girl. however im gonna have to give it to my boi normally lee oak-swallows-garcia, the perky peppy chipper cheery mixed up mascot who doesnt know who he is anymore. imagine knowing your parents are disappointed with you at like, 14. imagine inheriting a generational curse except its a literal eldritch curse that you cant do anything about. imagine connecting with the mind of an incomprehensible eldritch being that is killing your reality out of loneliness and fear and hatred and deciding to show kindness.
The Locked Tomb - probably an obvious pick but its gotta be gideon nav. shes your butch sword lesbian. shes your jock trapped in a science convention. shes your tragic unloved child. shes your doomed by the narrative/came back wrong double threat. shes everything to me.
Paranatural - im not actually current, unfortunately. ever since zack changed formats ive found it difficult to read. i understand why they decided to do it the new way, but my attention span is simply not long enough. eventually i will catch up probably maybe. that said, my favorite is of course max. i just love how sassy and exasperated he is. he literally didnt ask for any of this shit. like he just moved to a new town where he doesnt know anyone and suddenly theres ghosts and he has to join an organization to fight them and his bat has a monster inside of it and he almost gets run over by a train, how fucking exhausted must this kid be all the time
Hunter X Hunter - its the only anime on the list baybee. i thought about including others but none are super current and hxh is the one that i still feel strongly about. my fave from hxh is the one, the only, killua zoldyck. my son. my angel. my precious catboy murder child. a boy who was tortured by his own family and trained to not care about other people and who was so lonely he latched onto the first boy his age that hed ever met. he is so full of love and he would do anything for his best friend, including kill people, but to be fair he would also kill people for literally any other reason
The Wheel of Time - my most recent experience with wot was rereading the eye of the world in preparation for the amazon show, which was a huge letdown for me and a lot of fans of the books. my last experience with it before that was when i was, like, 12. as a kid my favorite character was egwene, and now my favorite is...still egwene. she is a strong, confident young woman who knows what she wants and doesnt shy away from going after it. shes very strong-willed and doesnt bend to the will of others, she is unrepentantly herself. she also reads very heavily as a lesbian despite being in a (rather annoying imo) het romance with the mc. i dont think this was intentional (given the aforementioned het romance) so i wouldnt call it coding but like. shes a young adult who eschews traditional female roles and aspires to be unmarried and spend her time with other women how ELSE am i supposed to read that
Homestuck - very much NOT a current fandom, but it defined a great deal of my life, so i feel like it should be included. my favorite for this one may be the most difficult to predict, or maybe not idk, but its kanaya maryam. i remember the first time i was reading, waiting for my patron troll to pop up, and it was her. at first i paid attention to her just for that, but i fell in love with her pretty fast. i have a thing for female characters who go through arcs of self discovery and learning to value themselves outside of the opinions of others. something about starting out thinking youre a prop for other people and ending as a whole ass person is so *chefs kiss* also shes sassy and wields a chainsaw which is badass. i personally think her arc fell flat and she was underutilized in the end, but shes hardly the only one that got overlooked tbfh

Or maybe tragic is too strong a word, but basically, she is yet another example of a woman whose work went ignored by society at large, because she was a woman. Even though her husband encouraged her, and she put in time and effort for her playing and composing technique, and even though a few of her chamber works gained mild recognition at festivals and conservatories, she was never able to make a big enough name for publishers to trust for sales, and she was overlooked by musicians of the time [despite the praise she got from major figures like Schumann and Berlioz]. It also doesn’t help that her music style is more “19th century conservative” in harmonies, but Mendelssohn is considered more conservative as well, so that’s not a good enough excuse. While I could keep writing in a funk about how much of a shame it is that so much great music gets overlooked in history, I should instead be happy that I live in the Information Age and can not only read the name “Farrenc” but hear her music performed. This performance is great, full of youthful energy, and is helping me wake up before my morning coffee. Movements: 1. Allegro 2. Adagio 3. Scherzo 4. Finale
