“that’s just war” is what i keep getting told. women get raped and butchered? that’s just war. children get bombed and buried? that’s just war. when i read stories of the hamas hostages and the frustration and pain of jewish families caught up in the war, what do online politics offer? “that’s just war.” that’s just the price of resistance. when i tell my dad while watching the news on palestine “thousands more children were bombed by israeli forces this week” all he can say is “that’s just war.” if a man pointed a gun at you wouldn’t you want to have a gun, too?
were the allied soldiers better than the nazis? depends on who you ask. they bombed, raped, sabotaged the planes of women in their own army. nazis were terrible. did that make allied soldiers saints? we weep for the mass graves in 20th century concentration camps across the world. then when we grow up we learn that those black and white photos were actually grey all along. the victims had also victimized others. male prisoners could rape as the soldiers did.
“ignore war men will be men” some women say. “they’ll find a way to keep killing each other. let them have at it.” is it feminist action to bask in our own self righteousness as women? do people sleeping while sirens go off in their city have any choice other than to wake up and run? can they ignore such a thing?
where should i stand? will the white women online help me if their president ordered a siege of my country? my country’s history is riddled with blood. the resistance gave me freedom. I can walk on my own land. go to school and own a car. I can dress myself without dressing a white mistress first. I can farm for myself and not for some smelly englishman. that’s good, isn’t it? but they also killed scores of setttlers, the resistance. they raped white women and girls. slaughtered white children and dumped their bodies in pits for their husbands and fathers to find. wasn’t that bad? but wasn’t it the black kikuyu children and women that bent their backs over white fields? wasn’t it the white people who put them in camps and exacted harsh curfews. didn’t white men shove broken glass up black detainee’s private parts? which white women came to free them? didn’t they laugh at the same racist jokes as their husbands did? didn’t she smile and pour tea for him as he told her about work? didn’t she love having such a wide sprawling estate? wasn’t that bad?
“so you stand with the evil black men that raped white women just because they could? you think their rape served a purpose?” no, but— “so you stand with white women who were okay ordering your people to be shipped, slaughtered and starved?” no! these questions are like asking me which bullet i’d prefer to be shot with. the answer is i don’t want to die. i am not comforted by the rape of women or by the enslavement of my people. why would either be something i want?
what this all is, ultimately, is a question the entitled never like to hear. in regard to the oppression of women by men, blacks by whites, the indigenous by the colonial, the one question at the heart of it all is this:
who has the right to self defense?
why is the woman that killed her rapist jailed? why is the slave that killed his master himself killed? by what means and to what extent do we rule an act of violence as self-defense or something monstrous?
the answer is even more uncomfortable: to the extent that we view the aggressor as human.
it’s not an answer that really solves anything. it doesn’t change what happens in war. it won’t stop any war.
but in these scenarios, my way has been to accept that there is rarely such a thing as moral purity in a human, and for this reason, our default attitude may need to be humility, the acceptance that we can be hypocrites. that we aren’t exempt from tragedy or more special than another life. that we’re as alike as we are different, even if we may not be equally guilty of certain acts. because if we are open to the humanity and dignity of the life of others (and I do extend this to animals as well, because they have the capacity to suffer and the will to live), we are bound to be less prone to repeat the cruelties we decry.
and maybe that’s more of a solution than a neat, easy answer or a casual dismissal like “that’s just war” might be.

Solo Victory Noah AU, where Noah is in Team Victory, instead of DJ... Noah later ends up becoming the final Team Victory Contestant... Alejandro keeps trying to sabotage Noah, but Noah always outsmarts all the sabotages... Noah ends up in the Final 3, with Alejandro and Heather... Owen is super-duper proud of Noah! 🏆
I've actually been toying with an AU where Noah ends up on Victory instead of CIRRRRH, watches what's happening to his team with thinly veiled annoyance, eventually grows sick and tired of sleeping in Economy (he's not at all concerned for the people he's watched be manipulated and/or his own position in the competition, why do you ask?) and manages to make it to the merge through the power of sheer spite despite being a one-man-team.
It's... not a very fleshed out idea, mind you, and I usually only ponder over it to make myself laugh at different scenarios where Alejandro is desperately trying to get Noah- the surprise one man army that no one saw coming- eliminated, and Noah managing to either outplay him at his own game or twist the circumstances to his favour in a very Looney Tunes-like fashion.
Because Alejandro would see the continued existence of Team Victory as a personal slight, so he'd put an increasing amount of time and effort into getting Noah eliminated if only to prove that he can. And Noah's just smart enough and finally motivated enough (initially by spite, turned vengeance, turned pure amusement) to spin Alejandro's schemes on their head every time. They're literally the Road Runner and Wile. E. Coyote.
It usually ends up with Team Chris or Team Amazon heading to an elimination ceremony, only for it to be a "surprise reward challenge" or something similar.
(Of course, they'd go through a "Alejandro tries to sweet talk Noah into an alliance" stage, like Alejandro does with DJ in canon, but Noah's switched on to Alejandro's true colours since he's literally watched him eliminate the rest of his team. Maybe Noah plays into Heather's offered alliance instead? Again, I haven't really thought too much on this silly AU.
After Chris doesn't allow Noah to join Team CIRRRRH, and Noah himself refuses Alejandro's offered alliance, it turns into Alejandro driving himself crazy trying and failing to eliminate Noah.)
The main draw of the idea, for me at least, is Noah not making it to the final three though. Because (in my mind) Noah doesn't even really want to be back in the competition- he just kind of went along with the crowd for the Celeb Manhunt bus chase, and inadvertently bagged himself a spot on World Tour. He's under no delusions that he'll ever win the million, but floating his way to the merge would at least make up for the embarrassment of being voted out first from the Gophers his short run in Island.
So he makes it to the merge after playing a glorified game of cat-and-mouse (Tom and Jerry Style) with Alejandro. He's got a hypercompetent Archvillain gunning for his elimination, and now that the teams are null and void, alliances are the name of the game. So what does Noah do?
He gets himself eliminated, just to take the satisfaction of doing so away from Alejandro. Probably through a technicality or something too, like Izzy's departure from the competition, to save himself the shame effort of jumping out of the jet.
That's mostly because I really like the idea of Noah reaching the merge, thinking "I've reached the goal I've set for myself. Might as well quit whilst I'm ahead!" and just-
Tumblr media
Leaving.
(Which is ironic, because he's spent the last ~8 challenges actually trying to remain in the competition, and now he's just. Giving up. Drawing a line in the sand. "This is as far as I go.")
It's a shame that the London challenge happens pre-merge, because the idea of Duncan being forced back into the competition and the jet taking off before anyone realises that they're missing Noah- who snuck away into the city and is having a great time using Chris' debit card (of which he memorised during his time as Chris' assistant) to live it up bourgeoisie style in London- is fuelling me.
Realistically though, he'd probably sneak off in China during the eating challenge- because why would he stick around when Owen's gone? It wouldn't be hard for him to throw the eating challenge at the first round and then just. Not sit as the loser's table. Maybe he knows enough Mandarin to get by, and manages to stowaway himself back home to his family and beloved golden lab.
Meanwhile, Alejandro is seething.
Owen is really proud of his little buddy for making the merge, and a little disappointed in Noah for 'giving up', but when Noah expresses that he didn't have anything to stay for after Owen's departure, his disappointment turns to sentimentality.

I have to agree with your assessment that, whatever confrontation Guts will have with Griffith in the future, it sure as shit isn’t gonna be some Dragon Ball Z style fight.
I don’t mean to powerscale, but bleeding hell, does no one remember that Guts could barely stand against Ganishka, the person Griffith wiped the floor with? Does no one remember that Griffith didn’t care the slightest bit about Guts’ attempts to kill him because they just went through his body?
Some fans have speculated that Griffith is preparing to assault Guts and his friends, but from what we’ve seen, if Griffith actually wanted to do that, he could do it all by himself, no army needed.
This situation isn’t like the one with Zodd, Guts actually gave him a challenge, there was a possibility of victory there, but with Griffith, no amount of training or preparation is gonna close that gap in power.
So, yeah, I’d say that beating hearts and leftover emotions are gonna be more important than strength in the last leg of the story.
I just feel like people think they're reading Naruto or something sometimes. Mind you, that's not a dig against Naruto or shonen as a whole - I do like shonen a lot myself. I'm just saying that I don't see this specific series being about a big fight where Guts beats down the villain. I tend to feel like that's mostly a combination of the fans who really hate Griffith wanting to see him beaten up and humiliated and the assumption that the story boils down to a big fight because that's what people are used to, but....
Ultimately it doesn't make much sense. Sometimes powerscaling is actually relevant, and people do seem to realize (at least post-Elfhelm) that at the moment Griffith is completely unreachable from where Guts is. That's why so many people think Guts is going to get some kind of huge powerup, but Miura had also said he didn't want to do big powerups because it defeats the purpose of Guts' continued humanity.
Also where's the powerup going to come from? A lot of people think he'll become an Apostle, but that makes no sense because
Becoming an Apostle would just make him join Griffith's side! Ganishka's rebellion was literally part of Griffith/The Godhand's plan, because he had to re-reincarnate himself in order to turn into that huge tree thing!
No Apostle has anything like the ability to hurt the Godhand anyway. So what good would that even do him? And
The Godhand are the ones making the Apostles! Why would they create something that's able to kill them, unless getting killed was a desirable outcome?
It doesn't make any sense - I feel like a lot of people kind of assume that the Godhand are super-apostles, but that's clearly not the case. You've got Slan forming her body out of entrails and whole landscapes, Ubik manipulating timespace and invading people's minds, Femto grabbing tears in reality with his hands, Conrad exhaling plagues from his face made of rats, like come on man.
So yeah, if Griffith is literally going to lose a fight with Guts, the way that probably happens is through some kind of internal issue within himself. And this is actually pretty common in Japanese media - even stories that end with a big fight, e.g. Ichigo saying Aizen lost because for a moment he felt like he wanted to be a regular shinigami again. Manga and Anime do a lot of that... "the villain secretly wanted to lose because they are internally tormented by something we're not wholly aware of and thus self-sabotaged" thing, which is absolutely appropriate for Griffith but even more than that... even more than that!!!
I'm not 100% sure Griffith is even the actual villain. One of the things Miura had said some time ago was that the Guts-Griffith relationship is not static and Guts will remain this way as long as Griffith remains the way he is. He also said he was less interested in the relationship they have than in portraying how it changes. He's no longer here to do that, but I assume for the moment that something as serious as the movements of the primary relationship in Berserk would be something he'd share with Mori.
On top of that Miura also said some things that make me wonder how much of a "villain" Griffith is actually intended to be. Obviously, he had the one comment that was literally about not wanting to have strict good/evil or enemy/ally designations, but he also referred to Griffith as representing the collective/humanity as a whole... which doesn't seem to be something one generally says if they think of a character as a horrible monster. Especially if we're defining "horrible monster" the way most fans do - as someone sent by Evil to create some kind of Evil Trap to hurt humanity. I feel like Miura was implying that their difference is more one of perspective than anything else - which tracks with the way they're actually portrayed in the series. He also expressed some surprise that women liked Guts more than Griffith, which isn't surprising to me, but it does kind provide a clue as to where his head was regarding Griffith's standing.
So I mean, it depends on how that relationship changes. Griffith may end up being more like a Sasuke - many people thought he was irredeemable too while Naruto was still ongoing. I know for a lot of people - especially those in the West - the things Griffith did were effectively a point of no return, but inasmuch as that isn't the case in a lot of Japanese fannish circles, I do wonder.
Now, in fairness, I've seen people suggesting that he'll lose because of an internal issue but usually the internal issue they expect it to be is "the Moonlight kid working against him from within" or "his arrogance biting him in the ass" and... the former is possible although I D K if I think that whole situation is going to play out the way people expect it to. But the latter is silly because he's not actually arrogant, something that differentiates him from the shonen megapowers like Aizen or whatever. It also doesn't fit his character at all - his confidence has never been his undoing, if anything it’s always been what allowed him to succeed. It's been his heart that fucked him over every single time.
If I were forced to put money down on something, I'd choose "Griffith dies but in a redemptive way that makes his passing bittersweet and painful especially to Guts himself," but I wouldn't be surprised by much of anything.
Except for "Guts is simply more powerful than this cosmic being." That would surprise me.

I don't know how to cope with who I've been because I've been undiagnosed my entire life.
Imagine living for more than two decades as bipolar schizoaffective and being unmedicated.
Imagine the absolute yoyo effect, being so depressed with no end in sight and no hope of ever getting better and yet still finding a way to stay alive... to not kill yourself.
Then, imagine self sabotaging every single last good thing for yourself because your mania (with psychosis) controls you to the point of mind breaks resulting in two hospitalizations.
Imagine ruining the only relationship that ever mattered. I sob as I write this, but this is the only place I feel safe enough to be myself. Not even on pen and paper can I put this into words.
My husband has been with me since I was 15. I can hardly even begin to wrap my head around how toxic, abusive, and straight up hateful I have been to that man, and all he ever did was love me unconditionally.
Before medicine, I was cunning and deceitful. I wore the face everyone wanted to see, no matter who it was. Now, after this latest mind break, the last two to three months have been a blur. I've been manic since January of this year, and I am only coming down now because of my array of medications.
It is terrifying. I am terrifying. I do not even know who I am.
Being in a constant state of disarray since literal birth (my mother assumed I was just a difficult child) and becoming an extreme people-pleaser due to her inability to cope with having an unmedicated child...
I have ruined so many friendships by being too intense.
I know everything happens for a reason, but my insanity that only grew over time...coping with the fact that all those nights I laid in bed crying myself to sleep because I didn't know why it had been years, and the depression that was so normal around ages 10-13 (that went away for everyone else) stuck with me.
Imagine slowly descending into insanity, then one day you meet this man who is everything you've ever wanted, and your entire life is changed forever. You stick with him through high school even though he goes into the Army, and eventually marry him... only to suffer from your mind literally breaking from the pressure of being bipolar schizoaffective, unmedicated, and the stresses of being a normal adult who IS NOT NORMAL.
I'm an anomaly. I should be dead by this point in time. It's a miracle I have lasted this long with my condition unmedicated for SO long. I am lucky to be alive, and my mother and I were talking just yesterday about how lucky I am to have had such a strong family. Otherwise, I truly believe I would be dead (suicide/overdose). It explains why I struggled so much at my father's house. It explains why I treated my husband as well as others around me growing up with such disdain.
Hell, I unknowingly drank enough tequila to kill me one time in high school one night because I couldn't cope any longer. I am some sort of alcoholic. I struggle to drink responsibly. I didn't actively have the intention to kill myself, but I tried once by drinking 9 shots of tequila at 9 am after being on a bender for days when my husband went to the field. This was November of 2021. Like. I actually attempted suicide. I fucking laid on the train tracks and begged god to help me before running away from my husband in utter psychosis to my closest family to get help for myself.
It's like I have lived my entire life on autopilot. Literally. Now, I've run away from him in another horrible bout of psychosis, been hospitalized for the second time... sure. I am doing amazing compared to where I was before. But I can promise you, if I wasn't on meds that keep me stable, I'd have killed myself. There is nothing more in this world, not one single man can ever compare to my husband. I knew that from the moment I met him. Why the fuck do you think I married his ass. It wasn't for his looks.
Don't get me wrong, my man is handsome, sexy, and downright ravishing. However, I married him because I knew in my soul he was a good soul. He had his struggles, responsibilities, and such, but no one on this Earth has ever made me feel as he does. He lights up my soul like the mania does. He makes me feel like liquid gold is seeping through my veins. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to kill myself, and I even wrote letters. Twice. But when I got to his... I just couldn't do it. It was like... he literally is the glue that has held every broken piece together for the last five years.
Imagine fucking that up. Imagine being so twisted inside, not knowing how to be an adult or even a normal human being, and giving up on medication, turning to weed (not the best for this mental illness, but it curbed the manic symptoms and eased the depression... until my mind broke that is). I'd been smoking on and off since I was 14, so I knew it helped. I did the best I could without having a proper diagnosis. With no support, in a state 3 hours from my nearest family member, yet 14 hours from my mother and brother (who are my true family) and my friends.
When SZA said, "Don't you know I did it all for us, I did it all sober, I did it all on no drugs..." I fucking feel it in my soul. I fought depression. I fought mania. I gave the fight everything I had for so long, I tried so hard that my mind literally broke (sobbing again). Twice. My mind snapped like a twig this time around. My husband... my husband doesn't deserve what I have done to him over the years.
It is selfish of me to even continue being in his life, but what else could I do? He is the reason I breathe.
Just had to vent.

I need to vent in a place where I know no one will care or judge or pay attention.
I’m not okay.
I am struggling. I have come off my antidepressants yet again after 3 years due to the excessive weight gain.
I thought I was handling it.
I’m juggling 2 jobs trying to cover my bills, both of which are extremely stressful and force me to fake a smile for hours on end.
I’ve finally met an amazing man, who is in the army & my trauma is trying to hard to make me sabotage it.
This weekend was meant to be so wonderful after not seeing him for 3 weeks. I picked him up from the airport and we watched movies, laughed, loved all of it, then he got recalled from leave due to a tragic accident involving one of his teammates.
I’m trying to be so strong for him to support him but the irrational/jealous/romantic side of me is really hurting right now. I held it together until I dropped him back at the air port 2 days early. But the second I drove away, I couldn’t stop the tears.
Now I’m struggling. Because I really needed him this weekend, but someone else needed him more and I understand, but that’s not stopping the hurting.
I have cried non stop the last couple of hours, had multiple panic attacks and have started having rather horrible thoughts so I have made the decision to get back onto my meds, but that’s making me feel extreme disappointment in myself.
I just want to feel good. I just want to know feel shakey, or anxious, or tired or exhausted. I just want to be happy for once. No strings attached.

Phase One: Avengers (Part Two)
Apparently I had so much to comment on this crappy book that I had to break this up into two parts (you can read part one here). No, I have nothing to say for myself. Lol
Let’s continue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clint Barton and Loki’s hand-picked strike team were in a stolen Quinjet with a faked S.H.I.E.L.D. call sign, 26-Bravo. That got them close enough that by the time the air-traffic officer on the Helicarrier knew something was wrong, it was already too late.
Whoa whoa whoa. I thought you said Loki didn’t care about the details. I thought you said such things were beneath him. Make up your mind.
With a last heave and twist, she freed herself from the fallen beam and ran. At that moment, the Hulk turned and saw her. She vaulted up a stairway and onto the next level. The Hulk swiped at the stairway and shredded it into scrap metal. Loki had gotten what he wanted. He must have been trying to time it so he could manipulate Bruce into becoming the Hulk right as his soldiers came to attack the Helicarrier. The Hulk would do at least as much damage from the inside as the rogue Quinjet could do from the outside.
Yes. Yes, he did. Lol
Natasha kept running, and the Hulk came right behind her. For a moment, she thought she’d lost him, but then he came at her out of the shadows, roaring. He was like walking rage, a single-minded engine of destruction. She shot a hole in the pipe over his head. Steam shot out of it into the Hulk’s eyes, stopping him for just the moment she needed to get a head start. She ran as fast as she could, but she knew she wasn’t going to stay away from him for long. He came after her, smashing through bulkheads and doorways like they weren’t even there and roaring the whole time.
Mood, though.
Steve got to the edge of the turbine mount about the same time as Tony. “I’m here!” he called out.
“Good,” Tony said, dropping into view and hovering in the Iron Man armor to survey the wreckage. He had the suit on, and Steve could hear his voice through the earbud microphone all S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel wore. At least that channel was still intact; if they lost communications, they’d be done for.
Convenient. Clint would absolutely know this, which means either 1) he's incompetent, 2) he's not as mind-controlled as we think, or 3) Loki allowed/arranged for his own team's semi-failure.Take your pick.
“What’s it look like in there?” Tony asked.
“It seems to run on some form of electricity,” Steve said.
Tony was shoving loose huge pieces of debris that prevented the turbine blades from rotating. “Well, you’re not wrong,” he said.
Steve fumed. He wasn’t here for technical support. But that was all he could do at the moment.
Ironic for Steve to call out Tony for being useless without his suit when Steve is apparently useless at anything other than beating people up. Lol
Tony stood inside the turbine housing, looking at the blades. He’d cleared most of the debris jamming the rotors. “Even if I clear the rotors,” he said, “this thing won’t reengage without a jump. I’m going to have to get in there and push.”
“If that thing gets up to speed, you’ll get shredded,” Steve said.
Hey hey hey now, I thought Tony wasn't the type of guy to sacrifice himself??
The Hulk stomped around the flight deck, roaring. He saw Thor and swung a fist twice the size of Thor’s head. Thor caught it in both hands, straining to hold both the Hulk’s arm and his attention. “We are not your enemies, Banner,” he grunted. “Try to think!”
Now, where have I heard that before...?
In answer, the Hulk punched him through the wall.
Jealous.
Thor got up and watched the Hulk coming after him. Now this was a fight! He held out a hand, waiting for Mjolnir to return to him. Mjolnir smashed through another wall and reached Thor’s hand just as the charging Hulk came within striking distance.
What's a little bloodlust between friends, amirite?
The Hulk caught the hammer, and a fierce grin spread over his face… then he toppled backward and Mjolnir pinned him to the floor of the hangar.
None but I can lift Mjolnir, Thor thought. Not even this giant.
Yes, yes. You're very special, Thor. We're all super impressed, promise.
“You like this?” Coulson asked, meaning the gun. “We started working on the prototype after you sent the Destroyer. Even I don’t know what it does.” He powered it up, and rings along its barrel glowed bright orange. “Want to find out?”
But Loki wasn’t there in front of him. Thor saw it too late to do anything. That Loki was an illusion… and the real Loki was behind Coulson.
Lokiception.
“You lack conviction,” Coulson said. He did not move from where he sat against the wall. Blood trickled at the corner of his mouth, and the enormous gun lay uselessly across his lap.
Of all the things Coulson might have said, this was perhaps the one Loki expected least. I have moved worlds out of conviction, he thought. Made bargains with beings who snuff out planets as an afterthought. “I don’t think I…”
"bargains"
“Tasha,” he said. “How many agents did I—?”
“Don’t,” she said. “Don’t do that to yourself, Clint. This is Loki. This is monsters and magic and nothing we were ever trained for.” Better than maybe anyone on the Helicarrier, Natasha Romanoff knew you couldn’t blame yourself for things you did while you were brainwashed. All you could do was try to heal and get things right the next time.
OH? DO TELL.
“Yeah, takes us a while to get any traction, I’ll give you that one,” Tony said. “But let’s do a head count here. Your brother the demigod, a Super-Soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend, a man with breathtaking anger-management issues, a couple of master assassins… and you, big fella, you’ve managed to piss off every single one of them.”
“That was the plan,” Loki said with a grin.
“Not a great plan,” Tony said.
YOU'RE RIGHT, TONY. IT'S AN OBJECTIVELY TERRIBLE PLAN. NOW ASK YOURSELF WHY HE WOULD DO THAT ON PURPOSE.
“You’re missing the point!” he said, and his tone got sharper. “There’s no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it’s too much for us… but it’s all on you. Because if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be sure we’ll avenge it.”
Weeeeeell...
With those last words, he tapped Tony on the chest with his scepter, just has he had Hawkeye and Dr. Selvig. Nothing happened. The Arc Reactor in Tony’s chest countered the scepter’s effect.
Loki tried it again. “This usually works.…”
“Well,” Tony said, “best-laid plans. You know the saying.”
Uncomfortable with mild swear words and dick jokes, I see. Lol
Look at this!” Thor shouted, holding Loki and forcing him to gaze out over the destruction in the city. “You think this madness will end with your rule?”
“It’s too late,” Loki said. Thor thought he was beginning to understand what he had done. “It’s too late to stop it.”
“No,” Thor said. “We can. Together.”
Loki looked him in the eye… and then betrayed Thor again, stabbing him in the side with a knife hidden in his sleeve. Thor dropped to the ground, clutching the wound. “Sentiment,” Loki said mockingly.
OH MY GOD. HE'S MOCKING HIMSELF, YOU ABSOLUTE KNUCKLEHEAD. I swear to god, this author sat down and went, "Hmm. How can I systematically erase any and all complexity this character possesses so he's as generic a villain as possible?"
CASE IN POINT:
On a bridge, Cap huddled behind a destroyed car with the Black Widow and Hawkeye. “Lots of civilians trapped up there,” Hawkeye said, indicating the nearby buildings. A flight of Chitauri went over, and Cap noticed something different about one of them.
“Loki,” he said. He was shooting at the civilians fleeing through the streets. “They’re fish in a barrel down there.”
It can be admittedly hard to tell because most shots of the Chitauri vehicles firing on people are from too far away to tell who's piloting... but I checked the clips from the Battle of NY and the only person Loki can definitively be seen firing at is Natasha. On another Chitauri whatever-you-call-them. Not even aiming for the street.
Thor was still watching the Chitauri zipping overhead. “I have unfinished business with Loki.”
“Yeah?” Hawkeye said. “Get in line.”
“Save it,” Steve said. “Loki’s going to keep this fight focused on us, and that’s what we need. Otherwise those things could run wild. We’ve got Stark up on top—”
Almost as if... according to plan...
Look, I have historically not bought into the full "Loki formed the Avengers so he could lose on purpose" theory because I feel that it contradicts the canon explanation that he was being influenced by the sceptre. But... you'd have to be an absolute moron to think he wasn't sabotaging himself, whether accidentally or on purpose. I suppose one could argue that just because it was amplifying his negative emotions, that doesn't necessarily mean it prevented him from working against his "allies". But if it wasn't affecting his actions at all, I don't know why they'd bother to confirm the theory as canon.
Also, like... according to this book, Loki is somehow targeting civilians and not targeting civilians at the same time ?? lmao
“Dr. Banner,” Steve said. “Now might be a really good time for you to get angry.”
Bruce was already walking toward the Leviathan. “That’s my secret, Captain,” he said over his shoulder. “I’m always angry.”
Same, tbh.
Thor reached the top of the Empire State Building and lifted Mjolnir. Storm clouds gathered and lightning struck down, hundreds of bolts reaching for Mjolnir. Thor turned the Empire State Building’s iconic spire into a lightning rod, gathering the force of the elements into it. Then he thrust Mjolnir in the direction of the portal. All the energy he had built up blazed out in a single forking bolt. It struck and destroyed every single Chitauri between the Empire State Building and the portal itself. Hundreds of them exploded and tumbled from the sky at once, including several of the Leviathans that tumbled down to smash into buildings below.
...so why didn't Thor just keep doing this for the rest of the battle? Too draining, or not exciting enough? Lol
Satisfied, Thor nodded and glanced over at the Hulk. Perhaps the scales were evened from their last fight against each other on the Helicarrier—
The Hulk shot out his left fist and smashed Thor all the way across the block-long gallery. Then it was his turn to look satisfied.
Jealous. Again.
Maybe that was just Loki, but Steve was starting to feel like the Chitauri were going to absorb every punch the Avengers could throw. They had to close that portal, or nothing was going to stop the invasion.
Well then. It sure is fortunate that Loki allowed Selvig to install a failsafe, huh?
Fury stood and listened to the World Security Council explain that they had decided to take the operation out of his hands. They were going to use a nuclear missile to destroy the Tesseract and close the portal—but at the cost of untold civilian lives. Fury protested as strongly as he could and one of the councilors cut him off. “Director Fury. The Council has made a decision.”
These crazy motherfuckers would have killed so many more people than Loki it's not even funny.
...and tbh, it probably wouldn't even have destroyed the Tesseract, so they would have killed them for literally no reason too.
The Hulk paused, confused.
“You are, all of you, beneath me!” Loki raged.
Not yet, sir, but I would very much like to be. 😏
She knelt next to him and said, “It’s not your fault. You didn’t know what you were doing.”
Selvig digested this for a moment and then said, “Actually I think I did. I built in a safety to cut the power source.”
Of note and as alluded to previously:
1) The mind control over Barton and Selvig was not absolute either; therefore, if they are not responsible for their actions over the course of this movie, Loki is not responsible for his either.
2) If The Other could hear everything Loki was up to, it's very likely that Loki could hear everything Barton and Selvig were up to as well. Meaning that, at a minimum, he knew about the failsafe and did nothing about it.
The missile had a lot of momentum built up, and Tony’s Mark 7 suit was not operating at full capacity after the amount of energy he’d expended in the battle already. It was no easy task to get the missile angled up sharply enough to clear the tallest buildings in Midtown—especially Stark Tower. That was where the missile seemed to want to go. So, Tony thought, the World Security Council is jealous of me, too.
Look, I get that he's mostly just being witty, but seriously... this dude is out here accusing Loki of being an egomaniac? Lol
He got underneath the missile and angled it upward, straining against its stabilizers, which tried to keep it on course. But slowly he forced it up, and once he got its warhead pointed at an angle, pushing it into a steeper climb got easier. A little.
Steve Rogers’s voice broke his concentration. “Stark, you know that’s a one-way trip?”
So... you're admitting you were wrong, then? 🙃
The Avengers looked up. On the roof of Stark Tower, Natasha said, “Come on, Stark.”
They saw the explosion through the portal, brilliant as a new sun. There was no way Tony could have survived that.
I was wrong about him, Steve thought. When the time came, he did make the sacrificial play.
Thanks, Steve. That's really all I wanted.
Loki had just gotten himself put back together enough to get out of the hole in the floor. Painfully he dragged himself toward the door. Never had a mortal damaged him as much as that green monster. He would be healing for a long time.
He's literally in better shape now than when he came through the portal. And the author made zero mention of his health there.
But heal he would, and then he would have his revenge. Even though the portal had collapsed and he had lost the Tesseract. Even though his Chitauri army was destroyed. Loki would show the so-called Avengers they never should have opposed him.
Raise your hand if you watched Avengers and thought Loki was thinking about revenge right after getting Hulk-smashed. Why aren't any of you raising your hands??
Seriously, there are two emotions I felt from Loki at the end of Avengers Assemble: relief and anxiety. I have no idea why Alex Irvine is so intent on turning him into a boring, one-dimensional villain, but it made this book absolutely insufferable to read.
Anyway, that's it! I hope you all found this as entertaining and cathartic as I did. Lol

Tawnas departure
Wrote by: Ana González | Translated by: Oxide Mr. Crumb
- … Cortex was defeated. Do you know what that means? -
After an endless adventure touring tropical islands; Ancient ruins, rivers and waterfalls, mines, laboratories and even a macabre castle, our orange hero had finally managed to banish the villain. A battle between two opposite poles that, without hesitation at all, would surely have its revenge.
Now he just had to stay with the girl and live happily ever after, a wonderful ending to the story of these two lovebirds ... Or so it was supposed. -------- --------
Tawna and Crash watched the beautiful sunset on the horizon. Filled with vibrant warm colors, sitting in that old purple blimp. Crash was happy, fulfilled that he had achieved his main goal; his beloved was safe from any danger and no one was going to threaten them again, their own creator had fallen to a (possible) death and they were reunited again, but the girl did not look as happy as him. That confused him a bit.
While they "saw" the landscape, strangely the blonde girl was not paying attention to the beautiful image, instead, she was immersed in all her thoughts, doubts and desires staring at absolutely nothing. The little boy couldn't help but think that there was something wrong that was bothering him, so he slowly approached to see what she had.
- Uhm… ¿Mh? – The furry touched the blonde's arm gently, but hard enough to pull her out of her trance.
Tawna got up a little nervous and a little excited, turned to see the boy and began to talk to him in an animated way.
- Crash! You know, I really can't believe it, Yo- You came and rescued me. -She took a little pause to catch his breath. -Now that Cortex was defeated. Do you know what that means? - Crash shook his head somewhat confused, but interested in knowing the answer. Tawna leaned down to get closer to him and whispered. - It means we are free! -
- Woah. - Crash didn't quite understand; he knew all that, he had just experienced it ... Was it something so surprising?
"We can do what we want, be what we want…" Tawna moved from side to side, shaking a little. She could barely contain his excitement; Crash was quite curious of that. She was always someone very calm. - We can LEAVE THIS PLACE. - The girl took her partner's hands, joined them with hers and smiled at him. -Let's use this airship to get out of the Wumpa Islands. Crash, where would you like to go? We have so many possibilities. -
-…-
Crash did not take those words so well, he had to think about it for a couple of seconds, but he made the decision firmly, changed his face to a more serious one, taking a couple of steps away girlfriend and breathed a little. -Ah, ah. -
He shook his head firmly in denial, something unexpected for Tawna, who believed that the marsupial would be totally willing to go with her, that made her feel a lump in her throat. - No? ex-excuse me...? - With some pain, small tears began to fall from the blonde's face, even if Crash had not answered, her reaction would have been the same. She slowly sat down so she could catch up with the orange.
Crash felt bad, he didn't expect her to react that way, he got closer again and placed his hand on Tawna's shoulder and she looked up.
-I don't understand, why would you want to stay? - - Uh! Ah! - Crash tried to make various gestures, trying to tell the girl that he couldn't just leave, he felt that he should stay in this place.
Now that he thought about it, he had never seen beyond the Wumpas Islands, would it be worth leaving his home? Also, what about the flora and fauna of the islands? Without Aku Aku's protection something very bad could happen ...
I understand that your heart is very big, but you haven't seen the things that I saw when I was a prisoner. YOU HAVE NO IDEA ... - Tawna took a breath of air and began to count all the atrocities she had witnessed, things that only few mutants managed to see ... because she was not part of the army forces itself.
The blonde was created with a different purpose, her intelligence and attitude were perfect to stay after army operations and also to be Crash company; a hand that moved the strings, planning movements and giving orders, as well as a reason for his strongest general to always be loyal to his master.
Not being created to fight, the blonde never went through the lethal tests of Dr. Cortex and instead of having a strict training, she had some freedom to explore the castle, to learn the necessary and analyze everything she could. The girl was curious and would soon regret learning too much. ____________________________
Brio wasn't the best at keeping an eye on Tawna, regularly letting her wander alone and talking to other experiments wich she never saw again, very regularly wondering << Where will so many animals go?>>.
One of those days the girl found that "the subject" was being taken to one of the mysterious tests, the girl with some nerves began to follow her partner from a distance, while he was taken by two laboratory assistants; the mutant followed them quite happily, taking long strides while admiring the castle walls, as if it were a simple morning walk. After a certain time, they reached the test chamber, where the voice of their creator was heard through a speaker on the wall.
- Are you ready? - Asked the evil Dr. Neo Cortex, with some joy in his voice, Crash only responded by shaking his head up and down, while Tawna (without having entered) watched everything from a window placed in one of the walls.
What she saw did not liked at all, because, although Crash had no idea at the time, he was crossing highly lethal obstacles; Explosives, fatal falls and possible splinters could be seen from all sides ... this was inhuman, now the girl had an idea of where most of the friends that the bandicoot had made for weeks were going. Thinking of the worst for her partner, Tawna closed her eyes, wishing he managed to survive and not have to re-enter that ugly place again. Fortunately, the first of his prayers was fulfilled, unfortunately the second was not.
Weeks and even months passed, but the girl never managed to meet her goal, at least Crashworth was skillful enough to pass the tests without problems ... but only a few managed to reach the half. The blonde was grateful that she didn't have to go through all that, but she wished that no one else was forced to follow this silly plan of world domination, so she tried to resort to many things. She tried to talk to his friend and best company about the danger he was exposing to, but there was not much to do, Crash had a routine that became more and more strict, with less time in the cages and more in training, by far, whatever he wanted, he couldn't find a safe way to reunite with the girl without alerting the security of the place, so Tawna looked for other alternatives to undo all this. She spoke hundreds of times with Brio, it seemed that he did want to resign, however he always retracted his words, contradicted himself or ignored his surroundings.
- Yes, yes sweet one, we will end this soon, but I cannot disobey the master so easily ... maybe if we joined forces, we could… uh... No-no, I- maybe, ugh. SIGHT. I don't want to deal with this anymore. I feel like they're watching us, I could be in trouble …-
- But Brio I know you can convinc- The subordinate man's alien hand covered her mouth, seeing what appeared to be Cortex's shadow approaching.
- I can't, stop trying. It's time for you to go back to your cage ... you are not supposed to learn about this. - This was the case until the fateful day when the Cortex Vortex was used on the remaining mutants, after several failed tests and breakdowns that our blonde had caused in sabotage attempts.
____________________________
-I'm so glad that neither of us had become an evil slave of that cretin ... Now do you understand why we should not stay? He could still be here! -
- MHM! - Clearly Cortex could still be on the islands somewhere, but Crash was sure that there was still some goodness in that man, he could feel it, hear it. Something that Tawna surely did not know, if Cortex came back ... he should at least try and prove that there is still a kind heart within the doctor.
Having made his girlfriend understand this, she finally resigned herself to accepting her lover's wish. It was sad to think about it, both of them had supported each other when they did not know anyone else, always trying to see for each other, but now their paths were going in different directions ... they did not want to separate, but they were not going to force the other to do something they did not want.
Crash walked over to Tawna and gave her a big hug, while she was still sitting up. -Okay, you want to stay, but I can't do it… not with what I saw, not when I couldn't even protect myself, I wouldn't want to be a hindrance and that you have to worry about me. I'll be back… when I'm strong enough… Maybe we can go on an adventure together that day, okay? - A few tears came from both of them, each one gently dried the other's cry.
Thus, having agreed to separate, Tawna still couldn't leave and leave Crash completely alone and to his own devices, so she stayed for a few weeks while they built a nice home for him to live in. They spent beautiful times, laughed and rested on the seashore ... But despite all that new peace, they still felt the threat of Cortex in the air. His memories were still very fresh.
Crash took a stick and began to write in the sand "Where do you plan to go?", Then stung the blonde a bit slowly. Then she turned around and read the message.
- "I ... I don't really know." - The girl began to think a bit. She did not know the world as it is, she had only heard of it, but never gone. -I have a small map around here, maybe I could start with a somewhat remote place ... Wait, I'll go find it. - She stopped and entered the half-built house, looking among her things for a map that she remembered keeping. Meanwhile, Crash was waiting on the beach, Aku aku appeared out of nowhere (Literally), returning from having checked the status of the Islands. - Fortunately, there hasn't been any sign of Cortex around here in a long time, but I think I've seen an unknown mutant near here. I couldn't check if it was hostile or not so the best thing would be to prepare for whatever is coming. Its coming. –
Crash complied with what his mentor said and quickly stood on guard, ready to await a possible attack from a new enemy. Seconds later, the bushes in the distance began to rustle, moving strongly, much more than it would if a normal animal were behind them, so the marsupial was sure the enemy was there. A couple more steps and the creature emerged from its hiding place, falling as it became entangled with one of the roots of the plants around it. - Huhf! - The orange boy approached slowly ... looking at the creature he thought it did not look like a monster ... or a dangerous mutant, the creature was small, thin and with large blond hair. The girl got up slowly and our hero realized that he was a bandicoot just like him and Tawna ... how strange, they thought they were the only ones of that species created by Cortex
- ¿A-are you… Crash? – Said the girl touching her head. -Yes ... I would recognize I would recognize you wherever, you are something famous brother. -
Aku aku was quite surprised - Wait, brother? - The mask made his protégé move a bit away from the stranger, putting himself in front of her face (which Crash was unable to see, so he began to look out from all possible sides).
- Ehh… Ok, explained it. - He took a breath, raising one of his hands as if pointing to something.
- My name is Coco, I was created by this "Cortex" - While Coco said that Crash said in a low voice “¿Da-Daddy?”, something that made the minor make a somewhat disgusted face. -Yes ... you could say that he is like your father ... not mine, only the one who created me. He told me about you, he said you were still around ... he said you had abandoned me. And well I wanted to know if it was-true. -
- Crash, Crash!! I know it took me a long time, but I found the map. There is a very large island near ... - Tawna left the house euphoric, but stopped in her tracks when she saw the unknown mutant and was placed in a battle pose. - Who-who is she? -
-Coconut. Crash's sister… I need to talk to you. - Coco began to explain why he was here, what had happened these last weeks. -Well, while you guys escaped, I stayed behind. I always wondered why they had run away without me, it's strange. But I did not trust that strange bighead, if you are my family ... why would you? -Oh dear, we… we had no idea that you existed- The two older bandicoots went to hug the smallest, they knew that Cortex could be someone very cruel and liar.
-I think I've been lost for weeks… I didn't know if they were still here, I'm glad I found them. I thought I would be alone on this desolate island. Thanks. -
Coco smiled as they continued with the hug, which lasted a long time, the Bandicoot family just as it had suddenly grown a little more, in the same way it would lose a member. At least Crash would no longer be completely alone, with Coco and Aku by his side, any evil could be stopped. And Tawna? She would go a little calmer. Nervous about going somewhere unaccompanied, but she had to. She had to prove to herself that she would never be a damsel in distress again. Thus gathered all together, they continued talking throughout the afternoon, what they would make of their lives as they would keep communicated. The older blonde ultimately decided to venture to live near Sydney, Australia; due to the good reviews of the place. In addition to having received a curious message from some mutants that were established in that place. Tawna remembered them and thought they had perished during tests and experiments, but somehow, they also escaped without anyone knowing.
--------------
It took another 2 weeks until the house was completely finished. With decisions made and ready to be executed; Tawna packed her things, climbed into the old Cortex airship, and said goodbye to the brothers.
-I will write and send you messages whenever I can. Don't stop saving the world, please. - The girl dropped her suitcases to be able to receive a hug from the two boys, the last hug.
- We hope you find your place soon. Be the best version of yourself. - Coco was quite happy for her friend, but sad for her departure while Crash shed a few tears that he couldn't contain.
- ¡A-dah! – Crash said enthusiastically.

My Top 10 Favorite Anime Villains (Updated) by DarkChild316
In a different time and a different world, I did a list of “My 10 Favorite Anime Villains”. I am older now, and hopefully much wiser and now thanks to the global pandemic and my new subscriptions to Hulu and Funimation I’ve had the opportunity to go back and revisit so many classic anime that I feel like I should re-do it. Plus I’ve gone back and looked at my previous list and shook my head thinking to myself: “My God man, what in the f**k were you thinking with some of these choices!” So, I’ve gone back and redone the list, now this list is strictly for the men only. If you want to see a list dedicated to my favorite female villains, check out my list of “My Top 10 Favorite Anime Villainesses.” But for this list, here is my updated list of My Top 10 Favorite Anime Villains:
#10. Shishiho Makoto (Rurouni Kenshin): Growing up as a kid, Ruroni Kenshin was one of the first anime I had ever watched, and this guy was someone who I hated with a passion. Looking back at it years later, I realize now what an amazing villain and foil to Kenshin that Makoto was. Unlike a lot of villains on this list, Makoto wasn’t just evil for the sake of being evil, Makoto’s evil came from the worst type of trauma: betrayal! In this case the betrayal came from Makoto’s own government, where Makoto survived not only multiple gunshots, but being doused in oil and burned alive, leaving him in complete and utter agony. What puts Shishio on my list is what he manages to do after surviving death. He compiles an army of the best fighters Japan has to offer and plots to overthrow the entire Meiji Government. While in complete agony. Who else can claim that? Did I also mention he’s topping the list of the best fighters in the show? His swordsmanship is second only to Kenshin himself as he proves in their absolutely epic fight.
#9. Hisoka Morrow (Hunter x Hunter): Hunter x Hunter is a show with several great villains that truly stand out, and while Meruem was memorable, pardon me for believing that Hisoka was the standout villain from that show. A devious killer and master Nen user, Hisoka is driven by little more than his desire to find and kill strong opponents. Be they young children or master criminals, he’ll pursue them to the ends of the Earth with a bloodlust on par with that of a wild predator. Likewise, he doesn’t care what happens to himself or others in this pursuit. Mass civilian casualties, the loss of his own villainous allies or even the loss of his own limbs barely phases him, so long as he gets to fight with someone that tests his limits. As a result, he more often than not embodies chaos incarnate, wreaking havoc in his pursuit of battle and leaving a mountain of corpses behind him. Needless to say, this puts him at odds with the series’ protagonists at regular intervals. Not only do Gon and his friends fit the bill for what he seeks, but they often take on enemies that prove to be exactly what Hisoka is looking for. And yet, this also serves to make him all the more interesting. Where other villains might strike out at the protagonists and heroes immediately, Hisoka schemes, allies himself with and double-crosses people regularly, always finding the best angle to work in order to reach his goals. He may not be a world-ending anime villain on the level of a Meruem with seismic ambitions, but he’s undeniably the most interesting and brilliant villain in Hunter x Hunter to see at work.
#8. Izaya Orihara (Durarara!!): If you think of a list of top anime villains and this guy isn’t one of the first people who comes to mind, please raise your hands so I can have a few words with you in private with no cameras or eyewitnesses. The crazy thing about Izaya is that he doesn’t even realize he’s evil, and that’s what makes him great. He loves humanity; from the depths of his bones he loves us all. This is why he makes it onto my list; he does progressively more cruel acts against humans, putting people in situations that generally lead to their deaths. He is also a master of parkour and highly skilled with a switchblade in his hand (as evident in the above picture), which he generally only uses in dire situations or fights against Shizuo. In short, I absoulutely love this guy. I thoroughly enjoyed the way he manages to manipulate an entire populous, and that’s why he’s more than earned a spot on my list.
#7. Dio Brando (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure): You might have thought it was someone else, but it was me, Dio! All meme-worthy jokes aside, Dio Brando is unquestionably one of the most iconic anime villains of all time and, thanks to his series’ late-blooming popularity outside of Japan thanks largely to the 2012 anime adaptation, one that still feels modern in our minds. Dio is a tenacious bastard that takes advantage of the generosity of the Joestar family to further his own power, being intolerably dickish to Jonathan by constantly tearing him down, trying to make him look bad in front of his dad, spreading rumors to sully his reputation, and sabotaging his relationships. This escalates into killing his dog (his f***ikg dog of all things!), poisoning and later stabbing his adoptive father (I mean WTF!), and becoming a freakin vampire. Even after decapitation, Dio gets his revenge and sets in motion many of the events of the series, making a formal return in Stardust Crusaders as the main villain once again. With raw ambition taken to the extreme, iconic lines, poses, and outfits, incredible abilities from Aztec mask-induced vampirism and the time-stopping power of The World, Dio’s menacing presence towers over his series and over anime as a whole, which makes him MORE than deserving of a spot on my list.
#6. Light Yagami (Death Note): Yes, he’s a VILLAIN, get over yourselves Light Yagami fanboys! Anyway, there are a number of different adjectives and superlatives that could be used to described the lead character of Death Note: Diabolical, calculating, and determined to make the world in his own image all describe Light who was easily the most clever man in  Death Note, as evidenced by the layers upon layers that composed his elaborate plans.  Light started out as a good kid, doing well in school and heading to a bright career in police work like his father. But when he gets possession of the death note, he begins a remarkable descent into a disturbing mastermind who becomes judge, jury, and executioner for the entire world. But what truly makes Light's character stand out remains complicated throughout the story. His ultimate goal is to make the world a happier, safer place; a noble but perhaps misguided goal. His idealism and nobility still shine through when he doesn’t have the Death Note. When he temporarily relinquishes ownership of the death note to throw L off his trail, Light loses all memory of the death note and he reverts to his normal personality. His sense of morality returns and he shows more compassion for those around him. He even refuses to use Misa Amane to get information out of her when L asks him to. These qualities help to create a complex character who ends up being a detestable villain, yet you still kind of root for him to come out of this story as a winner. Light’s progression through the series is marked by his sheer brilliance. He's got a calculated and strategic mind that would make the great philosopher Machiavelli jealous, and the power of the death note adds a callousness that makes him free to use people in whatever way necessary to accomplish his goals. It’s highly entertaining to see his intricate plans play out. But Light’s messiah-like ego is just as big as his brain, and that arrogance ultimately leads to his tragic downfall.
#5. The Major (Hellsing): An evil Nazi Scientist, I know everyone is just rolling their eyes right now thinking I’m reaching for the low-hanging fruit for this one, but just hear me out here. While he may seem like an obvious pick for a list like this, The Major’s goals, however, are somehow far more unhinged than what may first appear. Despite being an impassioned orator and uncompromising strategist willing to sacrifice countless soldiers, the Major himself had no especial loyalty or passion for the cause of Millennium. His sole obsession is to plunge the world into an unending conflict to the point of endangering not only the lives of others but also his own. The Major’s leadership of Millennium, his decades espousing the genocidal ideology of fascists, and subsequent war against the Hellsing organization, the Vatican, and the entire world serve only as a pretext to satiate his insatiable bloodlust. The Major is one of anime’s most insidious villains, a charismatic, nihilistic sociopath driven purely by his sadomasochistic death wish.
#4. Shou Tucker (Fullmetal Alchemist): Now, you may be recalling that in my previous version of this list, I had Envy listed as my choice as my favorite villain from this show. Well after careful reconsideration, I’ve had to reevaluate my decision and give that spot to this creep, because while Envy’s actions were despicable to a point, they PALE in comparison to this guy! He only really appears in one episode if I remember correctly, yet in that one single episode, he made more of an impact then most villains make in a lifetime, which really says a lot about this guy’s character. What was it that made him so memorable you ask? Well, it could have something to do with the fact that this man transmutaed his own dog and daughter to create a talking chimera, which hadn’t been done before, and for what other reason…all in the name of recognition in the world of alchemy! That mere fact alone made this guy the most hated man in all of anime, the fact that he sacrificed his own family for the sake of fame, with absolutely no hint of remorse, made this guy the definition of an absolute living piece of shit and the only thing worse is how the episode ended, but I won’t spoil that one for you if you haven’t seen it.
#3. Gendo Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion) Up next is a man competing with the likes of Medusa Gorgon for the title of “Anime’s Worst Parent”, Gendo Ikari, please step up to the front of the congregation. Now Gendo is a man who’s list of atrocities throughout Evangelion is far too many to name, but I’m going to try my best to list them here: You have being actively complicit in the premature instigation of a biblical apocalypse, resulting in a near extinction-level event that caused the death of nearly two-thirds of the human population. Emotionally neglecting his own son Shinji estranging himself from him for over twelve years, only to offer him up as a sacrificial pawn in his bid to artificially bootstrap humanity’s ascent into evolutionary godhood so that he could be reunited with his dead wife. Cloning said wife’s DNA into a harem of emotionally dependent albino ingenues who share a dogged infatuation for their creator. And that’s not even mentioning the horrific emotional abuse and mental manipulation he inflicts on Dr. Ritsuko Akagi and her mother Naoko. All-in-all Gendo is proof positive that love not only has the capacity to overcome any obstacle, but sometimes it can truly make monsters out of us all.
#2. Griffith (Berserk): Griffith did nothing wrong; at least, not by his own drives and ambitions. A peasant who grew to become the leader of his own mercenary band, Griffith was a self-driven man who pursued his desires with unparalleled efficiency. No matter the situation or obstacle, he found a way to overcome them, whether that meant facing down an army of thousands or assassinating a country’s leaders. All the while, he amassed a legion of friends and followers who would follow him to hell and back, caring for him as much or more than he cared for them. As a result, they were dragged down with him when his ambitions saw him imprisoned, tortured and maimed. They cared little though, risking life and limb to save him and help him salvage a life with what he had left. That wasn’t enough for Griffith though. When given the option to become a demon and continue the pursuit of his dreams, he whole-heartedly accepted it; even though it came at the cost of sacrificing the lives of each and every one of his friends and allies. But that wasn’t the worst of it, to further spite the early desertion of Guts, Griffith proceeds to rape Casca, Guts’ love interest, in front of him as Guts is held down by demons. So yes, Griffith did nothing wrong by himself. By everyone else though, he did them the worst of injustices, and continues to do so with each breath he takes, all of which makes him a compelling and infuriating villain.
#1. Johan Liebert (Monster): I’ve covered a wide variety of monsters (pun fully intended) on this list, but THIS monster (again, pun FULLY intended) truly takes the cake when it comes to anime villains. A serial killer who would fit in well in any blockbuster film, Monster told the story of a man who had truly become monstrous; a charismatic, intelligent sociopath with no other goal than to kill everyone else in the world. Johan didn't just kill people, he made other people into monsters just like him. This skill of his corruption is first displayed in his youth, when he used stories to convince the other boys in his orphanage to kill all the staff, and each other. Johan is often compared to Light Yagami of Death Note, but the two couldn’t be any more different. Light's fatal (and genius) flaw is his own ego, which leads him to put his own life above all else, even his goal of changing the world. But Johan has never been afraid of death. Quite the opposite, he welcomes and embraces it, being more than willing to put his own life at risk, and one of his signature traits is how he challenges people to shoot him. Another of Jonah’s signature traits is his skills as a masterful manipulator. Where Light and other on this list had to resort to supernatural means to get what they wanted, Johan just used his own wits and knowledge of human nature. He's easily the most frightening villain on this list because he’s the truest to life villain on this list and he exposes the base human nature of his victims and of human society. Monster's remarkable story was almost entirely due to Johan alone, and it’s why he’s #1 on my list.
So that's my updated list, what did you guys think about it? Love it, hated it? Go on and tell me what you think and let me know who your favorite anime villains are. See you soon!!!

132 Hours, Chapter 3:
“Let me step on your back,” I say abruptly.
Previous
Read chapter 3 on AO3, or read below:
“Sherlock Holmes.”
I barely have to think about it. “Sherlock Holmes was an omega.”
“No.” Cardan sounds totally affronted. “No way. How can you even say that?”
For lack of anything better to do, we have been playing this game for nearly an hour. Mostly fictional characters, but some historical figures, too, who are up for debate. As much as alphas would love to lay claim to every known conqueror, it just isn’t realistic. Cardan and I have already gone back and forth on Alexander the Great and Ivan the Terrible and Ghengis Khan. Designations live in a kind of middle space between gender and sexual orientation, so people make assumptions based on the way you present in society, but also whether you’re an alpha, an omega, or a mythical beta is, technically, no one’s business but yours. So, especially in older stories, these things go unsaid or are discreetly left for the reader to surmise.
“Why would he be an alpha?” I challenge.
Cardan is sitting in his corner, one leg propped up, elbow on knee, same as before. He shrugs. “I mean, he feels empowered to take charge in crime scene investigations, he’s assertive—”
“You’re thinking of the BBC reboot,” I scoff. “The way Conan Doyle wrote his Holmes wasn’t like that. He was an expert, yes, and knew it, but he admitted it when someone bested him, and he went out of his way to help vulnerable people. People who had been scammed, or… single women.”
As bad as it seems for omegas and women—especially omega women—now, it would have been even worse in the stratified Victorian era. We still have our strata, but they were more codified then:
Alpha men
Alpha women/omega men (depending on the situation)
Omega women
And, of course, it was all way worse when race and class got thrown in. The point is that someone like Violet Smith of “The Solitary Cyclist”—a woman, assumed omega, and poor—would have been in real trouble without Holmes’ help.
“So he’s an omega because he’s nice to widows?” Cardan asks, with a glare.
“No, he’s an omega because he pays attention,” I reply. “Alphas don’t need to pay attention the way Sherlock Holmes does. You just waltz in and traipse all over whatever or whoever and always get your way. Who cares about the details when you’re an alpha? But Sherlock Holmes looks hard at the little things. You don’t do that if you don’t have to, if you’re not used to walking into a room and assessing threats, figuring out the balance of power. All the time. Because it’s exhausting, but you have to do it.”
Cardan is quiet for a beat too long, and I realize I may have actually said more about myself than about Sherlock Holmes. But he spares me by saying, “Surely we’re not all that bad.”
I make a noncommittal sound.
“Your dad’s an alpha, right?” he continues. “He took you and Taryn in after your parents died. He didn’t have to do that.”
I have to keep myself from snorting. No one who’s met Madoc would ever describe him as particularly nice or even giving. “Did you know Vivi has a pet conspiracy theory that he killed our parents in the first place?”
“What?”
“Not himself, obviously. That he hired someone to sabotage the car we were in.” I don’t know why I tell him. The second it leaves my mouth it feels like a family secret, or an in-joke I’m not supposed to share. But I can’t stop talking. “I mean, it was just luck we weren’t killed, Taryn and Vivi and I. But my parents’ car was new. The brakes shouldn’t have given out like they did. Anyway, Vivi thinks he took us in because he felt guilty.”
“I mean, that’s… crazy to think your dad was involved.” But Cardan says it too slowly, and hastens to add, “He isn’t a supervillain.”
“Yeah, I know. Just with everything that happened after, the way he swooped in, she was always suspicious.” I feel my mouth twitch, but I don’t know whether I want to smile or scowl. “I think she wanted us to be like The Boxcar Children and run away to live in the woods.”
“Well, you’re getting the one-room, no-running-water experience now.”
I catch myself smiling—he’s funny—and force my mouth into a frown, scouring our little room again for anything useful. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Even the socket that would hold a bare lightbulb is empty. Finally, my eyes settle on the one tiny window, set close to the ceiling, letting in a meager amount of natural light that does seem to have grown brighter as we talked.
“Let me step on your back,” I say abruptly.
“You want to what?”
“Step on your back,” I repeat, exasperated. “Are you tall enough to reach that window without a stool?”
“No?”
“Well, neither am I.” I fold my arms. “So I’m going to need you to give me a boost.”
He arches a critical eyebrow. “Why don’t you just sit on my shoulders?”
I blink at him. “Because… I thought you wouldn’t want to put your head anywhere near my crotch? Given how I reek and all.”
“But you thought I’d want to be stepped on? Jesus.” Cardan rubs a hand over his face. “What do you think I’m into? Look, I’ll crouch down, you get on my shoulders and look out the window. It’s not like I’m putting my face in your vag.” I shudder, and he adds, “We’ll never have to talk about it again. Okay?”
“Sounds great to me,” I say.
He nods and crouches down. I am not prepared for the way my heart thumps in my chest at the sight of the guy who made my life miserable since I was in seventh grade, who pushed me during gym, who whispered vile things in my ear whenever he could, who empowered other kids to do the same or worse waiting for me to climb onto his shoulders with his head bowed. It’s not real power, it’s just temporary, but it is intoxicating.
Then Cardan says, “Taking your time, huh?” and I snap out of it.
“Why the rush?” I ask. “Got somewhere to be?”
“I was thinking anywhere but here would be great.” He looks up at me. “Whenever you’re ready.”
I swing my legs over him and let him hoist me up on his shoulders. I haven’t exactly been invited to participate in a ton of games of chicken fight in the pool, so it’s been some time since anyone carried me like this. Maybe not since Taryn and I were very small, just after our parents died, when Madoc would help us get things from high kitchen shelves. I gasp when I’m lifted. Cardan is strong enough that it seems effortless, but I also hear him let out a small grunt.
“Not a word,” I say, dreading the jab he might make about my weight. “Move me closer to the window.”
“I wasn’t going to say anything,” Cardan mutters, but he obliges.
I am extremely conscious of his hands on my bare thighs, the way his muscles shift under my shoulders. Some alphas, like the guy who tried to grab me at the party, are kind of muscle-bound in an unattractive way. Not Cardan. Cardan has just the right amount to be fit and lean, with the bare minimum amount of body fat, but not so much muscle that he tips over into ungraceful. He’s a sports car of a person, lithe and elegant. It’s no mystery why his shirtless TikToks get so many views.
I get my hands on the windowsill so he’s not bearing my full weight, and then I groan. “Bad news.”
“What?”
“Well, I definitely can’t fit through here. I can kind of see the sky, so I would guess it’s maybe ten a.m. Otherwise there’s just a window well. Plastic and dirt. I can’t make out our surroundings at all.” I sigh. “We’re in a basement.”
There’s an awkward pause, and then Cardan says, “At least we know for sure.”
“Yeah. Put me down?”
He does, and we go back to our respective seats, mentally reviewing what we know. The only door is, of course, locked from outside. The floor is bare concrete, the ceiling exposed insulation and tubing, so we might be in a storeroom of some kind, or an unfinished basement in an older house. Our kidnappers left us with absolutely nothing, so no phones. Even my keychain, with the Swiss army knife Madoc gave me before my first summer at sleep-away camp, is gone.
We are growing hungrier and more sullen with each passing minute when there is a knock at the door.
Cardan and I glance at each other from our opposite sides of the room. “Um,” I say. Are kidnappers supposed to be polite?
Cardan shrugs one shoulder, then straightens up, lifting his chin in a decidedly imperious way. Trying to summon some air of command, some macho alpha-ness that will help us out of this. It could work—it is half working on me, I begrudgingly admit to myself, because my stupid brain is wired that way—if we weren’t both grimy from sitting on the floor and still a little woozy from the drugs.
“Come in,” he calls.
The door is opened slightly, and the first thing to poke through it is the barrel of a pistol. A 9mm, by the looks of it. Cardan’s Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows.
“You kids willing to behave?” comes a voice. It’s a man’s voice, strangely melodious. I was expecting the sandpapery roughness of an old-school gangster. I know it’s stereotypical, but I’ve never been kidnapped before, and it’s not like they make a manual.
Cardan and I glance at each other again. I’m not sure what we’re looking to find in each other’s faces.
“Yeah,” I say. “We’re good.”
“Oh, good. I’d hate to shoot you.” The man pushes the door open the rest of the way, and I have to press my lips shut to keep from gasping. There are disfiguring scars that cut across his cheeks, down his jaw, even one across the bridge of his nose. I’m not even sure what makes scars like that, jagged and rough-edged. If it was a knife, it wasn’t clean work. Someone was making a point.
I am immediately relieved, though, because his resonant voice had made me think we could be dealing with a real alpha, someone whose words hold command. This man is of average height, average build. If not for the scars, for the obviously broken nose, he would be totally unremarkable.
“Who are you?” Cardan asks. I am reluctantly impressed that he manages to sound haughty in this situation. He’s sitting up straight with his back against the wall, one leg outstretched, the other bent, his foot planted on the floor. He’s resting his elbow on that knee, like it’s all effortless.
“Breakfast service,” replies the man, still pointing the pistol at us. He tosses a McDonald’s bag into the room, then he and the gun retreat, and the door shuts behind him. We hear the click of a lock and then, to my horror, the sound of a deadbolt sliding into place.
Cardan exhales and reaches for the bag.
“Don’t!” I exclaim. “Seriously, it might be drugged.”
“It—what?” he asks. “Now you decide to care about whether the food is drugged? This isn’t Flowers in the Attic, Jude. We’re hostages. They want to ransom us. They’re not going to poison us.”
I blink at him. “Flowers in the Attic? You’ve read a book?”
He rolls his eyes and reaches for the bag. “Well, if you’re not going to eat it, I will.”
When he opens the bag, the smell of sausage grease and egg hit me like a truck. My stomach growls. I am suddenly very aware that the last time I ate was before the party, and my nerves had kept me from eating much then. “What… is it?”
“Two McMuffins.” He looks up at me. “See? They don’t want to starve us. They’re keeping us alive.”
“They could still tamper with them. Sedatives or something. Keep us complacent, keep us from doing what we’re going to do, which is try to escape.”
Cardan arches an eyebrow. “Has anyone ever told you you’re unbelievably paranoid?”
I think of Taryn and purse my lips. “Did you know it wouldn’t kill you to take something seriously?”
He holds up one hand, fingers spread wide. “Okay. How about this. I eat a McMuffin because I am fucking starving, and if they put anything in it it’ll get me and work through my system faster. You can stay up scheming or whatever. If nothing happens after like fifteen minutes, you get to eat yours. Or if you decide to be stubborn, I’ll eat it. Deal?”
“It’ll be cold and gross.” I cross my arms. “But fine.”
“Good.” Cardan takes a McMuffin out of the bag—his hands are so big that it barely looks like enough food for him—and devours it in what must be record time. I turn my head away.
“Where’s the nearest McDonald’s, do you think?” I ask
“Huh?”
“We were in East Hampton. They don’t have one there.”
“Uh-huh. That’s a good point.” I look back to see Cardan sucking grease off his thumb. “Dunno. Closer to the middle of the island, maybe?”
“Maybe,” I echo quietly. Without knowing how long we were out, it seems impossible to figure out where they could have taken us. “You’re right. We couldn’t be in the city.”
Cardan shakes his head. “Nah, don’t think so. Too quiet, and like you said, that’s definitely daylight, so people’d be out and about.”
“Yeah,” I say, looking up at the window.
He looks at the window, too, but doesn’t say anything, and we lapse into silence. It’s strange, to be sharing space with him, to be quiet. I could never have imagined anything like it, not with our fraught history. There’s no world in which Cardan Greenbriar and I could be friends, but, at least temporarily, we are not enemies.
“Did you like it?” I asked at last, when the silence stops being neutral and begins to make me feel anew how tired and tense I am.
“Like what?”
“Flowers in the Attic.”
“Oh.” He blinks twice, his dark eyelashes fluttering. “I read it a few years ago, but, yeah. I did. You know, it was nice to read about a family that was more fucked up than mine.” He raises his eyebrows. “Spicy, too.”
I scoff. “How can your family be so fucked up you’d read a gothic novel for catharsis?”
Cardan drums his fingers on his knee. “How much do you know about my family?”
“You’re old money. One of those alpha families that claims they’re pure alpha for generations.” Which is pretty much impossible, but everyone in that tier of society tells the same lie. Half the kids in my school claim to be pure alpha, and on paper both of their parents are alphas. But while alpha men and women can reproduce—they have the right gametes—it’s not easy. More likely omega egg donors, and, before that, omega surrogates who were well-paid. It’s no wonder they see us as breeders.
I start ticking off additional facts on my fingers. “Your great-grandfather was one of the great American magnates, but it was his alpha daughter, Mab Greenbriar, who really made something of his millions. Your dad was her only son, so he inherited the whole corporation. You have five older siblings: Balekin, Elowyn, Dain, Caelia, Rhyia—”
Cardan holds up both his hands. “Yeah, yeah. I get the point.”
“It’s all on Wikipedia.” I shrug, and to sound less like a weird stalker, I add, “And Vivi and Rhyia are like best friends.”
“You know, and I know you said it before, but I do forget Vivienne’s your sister. She’s so cool.”
I roll my eyes. “Thanks.”
I get it, though. He probably thinks Vivi’s cool because she’s an alpha, but she also gets points for being the family rebel. Her biological dad, Madoc, adopted us all after the car crash that killed our parents, but she never wanted to be the natural successor he hoped for. Now she plays rugby at an all-girls’ college, has three cartilage studs and a septum piercing, shaves half her head, and is defiantly, unapologetically queer. It’s a different path than I would take, but marching to the beat of your own drum is definitely something that appeals to people.
“By the way,” Cardan says, “it’s been a few minutes and I feel fine. Well, as fine as one can feel having eaten only one McMuffin. I don’t feel any worse.”
“Okay.” I hold out my hand. “Toss me the bag.”
The bag crinkles when he picks it up, then he looks inside. “I think I’m owed a poison taster’s fee.”
“Huh?”
Cardan takes my McMuffin out of the bag, takes a bite out of it, then drops it back in the bag, which he proceeds to lob at my head. I catch it, face wrinkling in disgust. “Ew!”
“What? I need the calories more.”
I shake the bag at him. “I am not eating this,” I huff.
“We split the water bottle. That didn’t kill you.” Cardan sits back against the wall and closes his eyes. “Besides, who knows when they’re going to decide to feed us again?”
“You’re all so gross,” I mutter as I open the bag and pull out my breakfast. He’s right, and I hate that he’s right. I also hate that my hunger is enough to overcome my revulsion, at both the stolen bite and the undeniable fact that my McMuffin is now cold. I stuff it in my mouth, devouring the rest of it in only a few bites.
“Who’s gross?” he asks. “Alphas? Boys?”
“Alpha boys,” I inform him, with my mouth full.
“Big words from somebody whose designation’s known for leaking fluids everywhere.”
I fold my arms over my chest. “We’re not the only designation that leaks,” I point out. “We’re just the only one that gets shit for it. We’re the ones who’re thought of as gross while you and your type get to go around ruling the world.”
“Oh, sure. That has nothing to do with the way you guys are totally incapacitated for three straight days if you don’t take your drugs.”
“If we don’t get out of here, you’ll be just as screwed as I am,” I snap. “Stuck in a room with me? You won’t have a chance. We’re both going to become brainless fuck machines if that happens, so… shut the hell up.”
He does, to my surprise. I do too. I wipe my greasy hands on the McDonald’s bag, then crumple it into a little ball and toss it into the corner of the room. My anger is a living thing, running through my veins like electricity, vibrating under my skin. It’s been there for so long, but I would never have dared to say that to his face before. The rest of our situation is so absurd, so dire, it feels like there are no consequences for mouthing off at him.
That’s dumb, of course. There are always consequences. But at least they won’t be coming anytime soon.
“‘Brainless fuck machines,’” Cardan whispers quietly, and then he snickers.
“You—shut up,” I say, feeling unlikely mirth bubbling at the corners of my mouth. Cardan lets out another huff of laughter, and then I am giggling, and he’s laughing outright, clutching at his stomach. It’s ridiculous, all of my nerves coming out like that, but he’s laughing and it feels like there’s nothing for me to do but laugh too.
“Oh, man,” he says, wiping at his eyes. “I didn’t know you were a poet.”
“I’m serious!” I squeal, my abs cramping from laughing and trying not to laugh harder all at once. “That’s what happens!”
“God.” Cardan lets his head fall softly into the corner. “We are so screwed.” He points one finger up in the air. “Metaphorically. So far.”
“Jesus.” I cover my face with both of my hands. “Jesus.”
“Jesus was an alpha.”
I peek at him through my fingers. “He was not. He literally said ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega.’”
“I’m just fucking with you.” Cardan grins, his hair flopping in his face, but then his cheer vanishes abruptly. “Wait, you’re not actually religious, are you?”
I shake my head. “Not really.” But I still know that common theology holds that Jesus—and angels, and any other holy beings I don’t know about—are not alphas or omegas, but they aren’t betas, either. They are all things and nothing. Must be a good life. I pull my hands down and squint at him. “Were you worried about offending me?”
“Me?” Cardan shakes his head to toss his hair out of his face. “Nah.”
“Well, good.” I cross my arms again. “Because you’ve never cared before, and it’d really freak me out if you started now. Then I’d know we were both losing it for real.”
“I just thought…” He shrugs. “I mean, it’d be nice if one of us believed in something. That praying could help. I’d like to believe that. Seems tidy.”
“Yeah.” I let my cheek fall against the cold wall, too, and blink away the memories of screaming at the night sky, demanding someone give me my parents back. I can’t fall into that pit. I will not.
I just say, “I stopped believing that anyone was listening a long time ago.”
Cardan scratches at the wall with his finger. “Me too, Duarte,” he said. “Me too.”

Botched Rescue (BnHA vore) 2/5
A/N: So this is also a thing. Warning for unwilling prey, fearplay, all that jazz.
__________________________________
Never in his 16 years would Izuku imagine the number two hero enter through those doors. I-is he here to save us? Or what if… could it be Toga wearing Hawks’ face? His terror spiked, just imagining the blood-lusting girl sent shivers down his spine. Looking up, he noticed that the winged hero’s face was strangely passive, chatting with a long-nosed villain as if nothing was out of the ordinary. As Hawks stepped closer to the jar, following long-nose’s lead, his golden eyes widened ever so slightly once catching a glimpse of the U.A. students.
“H-Hawks!” Izuku cried out, pounding on the glass to get the hero’s attention. Hawks stared back at him, blinking blankly. He raised a feathery brow and turned to long-nose, “What’re Endeavor’s interns doing here…?” he trailed off, sharp eyes honing in on the students, “And why are they so small?” Long-nose’s perpetual grin never left his face, “Why Hawks, they are for you. We thought this size would make them easier.” Izuku slowly quieted down while Todoroki stiffened, Easier for what? Izuku thought while the hero before them voiced the same concern. “For consumption,” Long-nose answered simply as if there was no need to provide a further explanation. The blood drained from both students’ faces. Izuku faltered backward, his brain going on overdrive. Consumed by what? By who? But the answer was glaringly obvious. Long-nose had brought Hawks in the hideout to perform their death. Judging by the winged man’s affability towards the villain, he wasn’t there to break them out. Izuku’s heart plummeted; getting eaten would be tantamount to death. It couldn’t be their fate, this man had to be lying. Todoroki punched the glass, a scorching storm of raw emotion taking over his form. “Enough with your tricks, let us out!” he demanded. Still, his words fell upon deaf ears as the hero’s achingly indifferent eyes lingered over them before returning to face the villain—as if they were some kind of insignificant buzzing.   — Hawks balked, did he hear that right? No, keep your cool. Just remember your mission, I can’t afford to sabotage this. “Heh, you want me to eat them? Never thought the PLF would be into cannibalism,” he answered nonchalantly, putting his arms behind his head. Re-Destro shrugged, “I know, it is a rather unconventional method to dispose of hostages, but think of the advantages. No evidence of the corpses and imagine the humiliation the heroes would experience if they found out one of their own did the deed," he raised his hands in the air, words flying out of his mouth in eager anticipation. “It is too great of an opportunity to pass up!” The blond hero stepped back, his thoughts twisted while his gut knotted up. This shouldn’t be possible, he shouldn’t be able to do this, he can’t. “I get why you’d want me to do it, but wouldn’t it be more impactful if a big shot villain did it? What difference would it really make if I,” he took a deep breath and swallowed, regretting his next choice of words, “ate them?” The formerly stressed boss narrowed his eyes, stepping closer to the shorter man, “I thought you would be grateful, after all, this would provide an opportunity to continue to prove your allegiance to us. My successor still has his doubts.” Hawks’ eyes darted back at the students, the finger smashing kid was yelling something incomprehensible to him. No doubt thinking he was going to murder them, his guilt swelled. You’re killing me here. How do I save them without any casualties, without revealing myself? “But you get my hesitation, right? This is just a lot… more than just fighting for the liberation of quirks. I’d discreetly kill them for our cause, but actually consuming those kids is another story. It’s a huge taboo, cannibalism, y’know?” “I understand, but it’s a question of whether you will or will not do what is asked of you. We value your contributions, but we need allies who are loyal.” Shit. “Nope! Not a problem at all. I was just making sure I heard you right," he pressed a thumb to his forehead in an 'L' shape, eyes dead serious. "Everything I do is for the Liberation.” Re-Destro smiled wider, shaking the hero’s hand,
“Good good, that’s what I like to hear!” There was a pregnant pause, and Hawks stepped closer to the jar, taking off his visor and resting his chin in his arms, now eye level with the aspiring heroes; he winced inwardly as the two jumped back. He really didn’t want to do this. Would it be too late to back out now? If they kill me, would the kids still get to live? If he was being honest with himself, probably not. “What’s wrong? You look nervous.” It was a test. Re-Destro’s eyes were closed in slits, but his tight-lipped smile was telling. If he didn’t do as he was told, Hawks would be branded as a traitor and most likely subjected to the Liberation Front’s torture. Everything he worked towards would be for nothing. He cringed, and no doubt would Dabi burn him to crisp. “Ok, ok.” he grabbed the jar and tried to avoid looking at the terrified gazes of the students. Hawks plucked a thrashing Todoroki Shouto from the jar and popped him in his mouth without a second thought. “You…YOU TRAITOR!” Shouto shouted before the mouth snapped shut, pushing past his guilt, Hawks internally gagged at the boy’s flavor. Todoroki’s body was salty and quivering with hateful tears. The kid was fired up, though and he winced as a fist made contact with his molar. Shit, I'm actually going to have to swallow him. I’m going to hell. This is so sick, even for me. He repressed the urge to vomit and tilted his head back, distinctly feeling the squirming figure traveling down his throat. Hawks brought a hand to his mouth, the tiny student was going down so slowly, so painfully, it was only a gross reminder of his deed. Urk, I’m gonna throw up, his wings shifted uncomfortably and he shot a glance at Re-Destro, who was staring expectingly. Can’t look reluctant. They’re gonna suspect me. Just ignore the fact you’re eating Endeavor’s son—- ugh. Hawks tossed the former leader of the Liberation Army a wry smile, internally recoiling at the fact that Shouto hadn’t even passed his esophagus. “Can I have some water? Jeez, he’s so dry,” he complained as he rubbed his throat. The villain called up an underling and quickly, he was given a bottle of water, “Thanks!” the winged hero gasped out as he greedily gulped down the water. The younger Todoroki had finally gotten unstuck from his gullet, and he could feel him descend to his stomach. Sorry Shouto, I need to do this as quickly as possible. Please don’t drown. —— Izuku watched in abject horror as he watched the bulge of his friend slide down the former hero’s neck, quickly disappearing past his collar bone.   “T-T-T-Todoroki?” Izuku stuttered out, overcome with pure shock as he watched the death of his friend. Out of the many possible deaths Izuku thought he would encounter, being shrunk and eaten by a top hero didn’t quite make the list. As he watched a gigantic hand make its way back to the jar, Izuku held a shred of hope in his heart. He didn’t just watch Hawks, the number 2 hero, just knock back Todoroki like a mere snack. No, it was too outlandish to be real, he must still be unconscious, and these were nightmarish projections of his subconscious. It explained their predicament and why Hawks was even chummy with a villain in the first place. Despite himself, he mustered up his fear and looked up at the shadow looming over them: massive passive golds reaching tear-welled greens. While the winged man peered down at them, Izuku’s large eyes gazed up with desperate hope, but the former’s face was completely devoid of emotion: Izuku felt his insides liquefy. No. They were about to die in one of the most gruesome ways possible in the hands of a trusted hero. He collapsed on his knees. Despite the instability of the jar, the sense of hopelessness overwhelmed him. This was real. He was actually going to die. As the gloved hand neared the jar, Izuku found himself running in front of the unconscious blond. Keeping a protective stance, right when the hand was about to snatch Bakugou, Izuku leapt in front of it. The hand jolted, causing the man to drop Bakugou and grab Izuku instead. Time stood still as Izuku was lifted to the awaiting maw. As he drew nearer, he could see every pore of the man’s face, every hair of his stubble, and more importantly, large and daunting his mouth was from this perspective. Izuku was a shaking, dizzying mess as he was nearly thrown into the mouth, barely able to get himself reoriented before he was slammed to the ridged palette. Sandwiched between his tongue and palette, Izuku’s only light source was cut off, and all he knew was the damp humidity coupled by Hawks’ easy breaths. He waited in blind terror for what felt like a good minute and finally let out a sigh of relief, “Oh good, he’s not going to—” A resounding swallow echoed, and with a flick of the tongue, Izuku was dragged down.

Underwing Challenge Day 6 - What does your portfolio look like? Talk about as many other WIPs as you’d like here.
So how far back do I want to go? I’ve had a lot of WIPs. Not as much as some people I’ve seen in this challenge. A lot of them I’m not actually working on anymore, but I’d like to get back to one day.
Besides Bo and Shen, these are the WIP’s that are still, well, in progress.
Elissa:
The next most recent WIP I worked on is called Elissa, because the main character is named Elissa.(I am very creative). Elissa began as a project with a friend of mine, based on a dream she had. The title character is an android who has been raised believing she’s human. The story begins when she discovers she is an android. She has been raised by two people: her adoptive mother is Claudia, a devout Catholic who has been following the rules of the lab by not teaching Elissa any of her faith. She regrets that now, and begins trying to introduce Elissa to the faith. The other is Jacob, a staunch atheist who doesn’t believe Elissa is honestly human. He hasn’t really been raising Elissa, not like Claudia has, but he’s been very involved as a scientist. Elissa has to deal with the existential implications of her nature, and that's before she learns about the apocalypse which occurred a hundred years ago.
The Technarchs Rule:
This one still doesn’t have a name, because there’s no one story so far, just a universe I find super interesting. It actually began as the history of the anarchic period of the world of Boot Camp Renus, but as things developed, I found myself more interested in a post-apocalyptic world instead. I also found myself forgetting my fictional planets more and more, and focusing much more on Mars.
The solar system has been colonized for a while. Martian Iron, the product of smelting the red soil, is one of the most powerful metals of the solar system, and is vital for modern spaceship hulls. It's also incredibly common, being the literal dirt on Mars.
Eventually, there is tension over who gets to use the dirt, as Earth-based companies continue to mine it without permission from Mars. This blows over into an actual war for independence between Mars and Earth, with all other colonies picking sides.
During the war, each side races to create the perfect AI, which could predict the location of a ship and its strategy in seconds. Mars wins this race by performing unethical experiments on children, creating the first Computer-Child. This boy soon rises through the ranks of the army, and once he has the authority, orders the nuking of the Earth's surface. This was a line that previously, neither side had dared to cross. After rendering Earth uninhabitable, the computer-child assumes control of Mars as Technarch, cybernetically enhancing himself until he is functionally immortal. The rest of the solar system falls into chaos and anarchy. This is the setting.
The Technarch creates a cult following around himself, and out of his followers, selects several (probably 12) to be his Olympians, cyborgs who had been enhanced to the point of being nearly unstoppable.
Other characters include assassin bots Kenta and Deko, and a bounty hunter named Van Dorn.
A Christmas Story / A Letter from Pelznickel:
Does it count as a WIP if it's finished? This is the only project I’ve ever finished, and it got second place in a writing competition. It's my idea of the origin story of Santa Claus. I can’t decide between the two titles. Pelznickel is actually a character in folklore believed to be a proto-Santa Claus, which is why I used that name. I tried to only use names in actual Santa lore, and it worked really well, I think.
Under the cut, I’ll include the WIP’s that hold a deep place in my heart, but I haven’t worked on in years, for various reasons.
Yellowstone:
One of my first projects ever. It's about a post-apocalypse but with superheroes. When a radioactive meteor lands in Yellowstone National Park and starts infecting people with a fatal disease, the government builds a radioactive-proof wall around the park and the surrounding areas, leaving the people trapped inside to fend for themselves. A small percentage of people are immune to the disease, and the children of these survivors are discovered to have strange powers. A generation later, people have left the cities and settled around farms and villages for food. Damon and his sister Emma are no different, living on the ranch of Jarod Levin, an immune survivor of the radiation. When a newcomer named Jonas Reed arrives trying to make the first map of the area, everything changes for them. By everything changes, I mean a raiding party appears, burns the ranch down, and kills everybody but Damon, Emma, their friend Ian, Jonas, and another girl named Melissa. I then realized I had no plot after that, and have not written for it since. But this was my first foray into worldbuilding with seven chapters of introduction to the world, as well as dynamics between the characters before the place burns down. They are definitely some of my favorite characters I have ever created, probably more than even the characters in Bo and Shen.
Boot Camp Renus:
My first foray into Science Fiction. After centuries of anarchy, the three colonized solar systems have finally been united under the Interstellar Democracy, or ISD. Deko Fost, a Martian teenager, is struggling with guilt after the death of his sister 2 years ago. In an attempt to redeem himself, he decides to join the Star Force, and is sent to the planet Renus, a small, dense world dedicated to the military boot camp. There, he meets Earthling Norenaya Amankai, daughter of missing war hero Roka Amankai; and Hagane Kenta, an Atlantean man who has no restrictions on what he will do to succeed. Minor characters are two twins who are intentionally carbon copies of the Weasley twins, just different hair color. The themes focus on Deko’s Catholic faith, and on his recovery. Norenaya, or Naya, is not mentally prepared for boot camp, and has to find strength to make it through. Kenta learns to respect Deko for succeeding even despite being sabotaged.
I wrote to the point they got to the bootcamp, and then had no idea what happened next.
My favorite part of this was the worldbuilding. I made three really cool planets. Atlantis has an atmosphere of water, and the Atlanteans live miles beneath the surface in specially constructed buildings. Atlanteans have stupid pale skin, and was also originally settled by the Japanese. Vrill is a massive planet with a strong gravitational pull, and is populated by massive dinosaur creatures that are big enough to build a city on, which people do. The only time people built a city on the ground didn’t end well. Vrillan settlers, over generations, have become short and strong. Kol is a planet that spews gas and dust constantly, and is full of valuables for mining. As such, it has a reputation as a planet of oppressors who exploit the population to maximize their riches. The people have been around the natural pollution for generations, to the point that their skin pigment is now a dusty gray.
The astute among you will realize I use the same names in Boot Camp Renus as in the Technarch Rule. This doesn’t mean anything, I was just lazy when coming up with names for my Martian androids.

in sickness and in health
set immediately after s8.6, because i think Danny being worried about Steve’s health is literally the most married thing ever
1. change his diet
It doesn’t happen overnight. It doesn’t happen overnight because Danny knows that it can’t happen overnight - otherwise Steve will notice and all of his efforts into our sneaking the SuperSEAL will go to waste because he and Steve will fight, and Chloe made it very clear that he and Steve fighting was not good for Steve’s health.
Even if it significantly improved Danny’s mood everytime he got Steve riled up. His serotonin levels could take a hit for a bit (he’d just finagle more time with Charlie from Rachel).
It takes a lot of back and forth, and a promise to let Kamekona buy into their restaurant (currently un-named because he refused to have an italian joint named Steve’s) but Kamekona finally agrees to reduce the amount of butter he puts on his shrimp.
“But only for Steve’s plate bruddah,” he says, a frown on his face, “I’m not changing my recipe for anybody else. This is prime shrimp you’re messing with here - I hope you know that. This shrimp won me awards.”
Danny grimaces, “Technically, Chef Morimoto sabotaging your competition won you that award, but we’ll go with your version of things. As long as you keep this from Steve. I do not need him knowing that I’m messing with his food.”
“You got it bruddah.”
Everything else after that is slightly easier. Even with Junior home, Steve still comes over to Danny’s a lot - so Danny starts shopping smarter; buying low fat food and including more greens in his diet.
The jersey in him is crying, weeping for some good grease - the kind that slithers off the meat and onto your fingers, but he reminds himself it’s for a good cause. Besides, it’s not like he isn’t still eating good food - he’s just eating it less.
That’s not a terrible thing.
2. to do list
He’s in his office, finishing up the last reports of the drug bust they made earlier that day - when there’s a sharp rap on his door. Danny looks up to see Steve standing on the other side, clutching a piece of paper in his hand.
He waves him in, and Steve slams the paper against his desk. “What are you, some sort of caveman? Did they not teach you how to politely put things down in the Army -”
“ - Navy - “
“Why do you gotta,” he gestures at the paper, “now my ink is all smudged.”
Steve ignores him, which is par for the course at this time, “What is this?”
Danny looks at the paper, and then back at Steve, “What do you mean, what is this? How should I know? You’re the one that brought it in.”
Steve points at the paper aggressively, “Look at it, and explain to me what it is.”
He smoothens out the paper, “It’s looks like a to-do list. Are you getting old babe? Do we need to take you to an eye specialist, maybe get you fitted for some glasses? Reading goggles?”
“Danny I don’t need -” Steve cuts himself off, and honestly, Danny is really enjoying how worked up Steve is about this whole thing, “I mean, what is it doing on my desk?”
Danny bites his lips, spreading his hands out wide, “I don’t know maybe you uhh, maybe you decided that you needed to make a list, make sure you know everything you had to do for today. Did you hit your head or something during our drug bust today? Maybe get a concussion - lose a couple of braincells?”
“I didn’t write this Danno,” Steve says in a frustrated tone, “Lou sure as hell didn’t write it, Tani’s too new to even think of pulling something like this - and we both know Jerry doesn’t have the balls for this kind of thing. That just leaves you. So I’m gonna ask you again, what is this doing on my desk?”
“Okay look, we’ve both been really busy with the restaurant right?”
“Steve’s.”
“No, not Steve’s because I’m still undecided on the name - but the point is, we’ve both been busy. So I thought you might you know, benefit from having a list of things that we had to do for it. So that you could plan your day better.”
Steve opens his mouth and shuts it again, furrowing his brows at Danny.
“And that’s all this is? Making sure I keep up to date with the restaurant?”
“That’s all it is babe.”
“You’re up to something,” Steve grabs the paper, pointing a finger at Danny accusingly, “I don’t know what you’re up to - but you’re up to something.”
“Just making sure our restaurant doesn’t fail!” Danny calls after him, but waits until he’s out of sight to pull open his drawer and pull out the pile of unfinished to-do lists.
He’s going to have to be sneakier about them this time.
3. less bickering
Danny ponders over this one for a while, mainly because Steve expressly told him not to change. It would defeat the whole purpose of sneakily managing Steve’s stress if he notices, so Danny’s careful about it.
Mostly because after her day with Steve, Chloe pulled Danny aside and gave him enough of a scare to last him ten lifetimes.
“Look,” she’d said, “I don’t mean to tell you how to manage your relationship with your partner. From what I hear, you guys have been together for close to seven years, and I’m sure you worked out some sort of rhythm. But from what I can see Detective, you fight him on everything.”
“What do you mean I fight him on everything, I,I, I let him drive my car, I let him eat at my house, he even sleeps at my house on occasion - and what do I get for it? I get shot at and almost killed three times before lunch.”
“You guys don’t have an easy job, I agree. But I don’t imagine that for the Commander, someone who’s come from the Navy and is used to absolute obedience, that it’s easy when you question even his smallest actions.”
She had a point, which is Danny is now trying to figure out how to organically stop fighting with a man he literally punched just hours after they met.
“Okay here’s what’s going to happen,” Steve says, just as they pull up at the suspect’s house. They’re chasing the kidnapper of a twelve year old girl, so everybody’s a bit ramped up, especially Danny. He hates cases with kids. It makes it easier to take a backseat and give up control to Steve on this one.
“I’m going go through the front door,” he gestures with his hands, “Lou, Danny - I want you to get the back. Tani? I want you out here, in case our perp tries to make a run for it?”
Danny has to physically swallow back the words on the tip of his tongue, because asking Steve if they should wait for back-up would be questioning his actions - and Chloe said that was bad for his health.
Steve gives him a look, like he knows that’s something’s wrong - but before he can say anything there’s shot fired inside the house and everything goes to shit.
Danny and Lou turn the corner as quick as possible, just in time to see someone run outside the back entrance and jump across the fence.
“Lou, get back to the truck, see if you can cut him off like that,” Steve jumps after him, panting into his ear-piece, “Danny?”
“Right behind you buddy,” he says, even as he aims and shoots at the two guys who wander out behind their perp, clearly looking for him, “our friend over here had company over.”
Thankfully, there doesn’t appear to be anyone else coming out of the house, and when Danny makes his way in - 12 year old Danielle Rodriguez is tied to the radiator, shivering despite the constant sweltering heat that is the fine island of Hawaii.
“Hey hey,” he swings his gun behind his back and lifts his hands up, “my name is Detective Danny Williams okay? I’m with Five-0. I’m one of the good guys. Now how about I get you out of this and back to your parents?”
Later, when they’re back at HQ and Danielle has been reunited with her teary-eyed parents - Lou mutters to Danny, “so how come you didn’t ask Steve to wait for back-up?”
“I’m trying something new.”
4. well bred social behaviour
“Danny!” The door swings open, even though Danny is fairly certain that he locked in, but he doesn’t reach for his gun, because there’s only one person on this entire island who walks into his house like they own it.
“In here!” he calls out, and sure enough, Steve walks in a couple seconds later with coffee and a brown bag.
“Are those malasadas?” he asks, reaching out for the coffee in one hand, looking up briefly from floor plans to ensure that there’s contact between his palm and the coffee cup, “Did you bring me malasadas?”
“No I bought myself malasadas, but since I’m generous I’ll give you one or two.”
“What’s this?” he asks over a mouthful of malasada, peering over his shoulder and Danny bats at him because he’s dripping sugar all over the plans, “Is this Steve’s?”
“For the last time, we’re not calling the restaurant Steve’s I don’t know how many times I have to go through this with you. But yes, to answer your question, these are the tentative plans that our interior decorator drew up for the restaurant.”
“Interior decorator?” his voice comes out all muffled, and Danny sends him a withering look, “You’re disgusting you know that? Can you finish chewing before you talk? Please? Is that too much to ask for?”
Steve swallows obnoxiously, and grins at Danny. He’s got cream on the edge of his mouth, and it should disgust Danny - instead he’s thinking about leaning up and licking it off.
“Thank you, for the coffee by the way,” he says instead, “I appreciate it. That was a nice thing to do.”
“You’re welcome,” Steve replies, and Danny can hear the surprise in his tone, but he resolutely ignores it - instead pulling Steve into a conversation about the booths.
5. sex
There’s probably a code of conduct somewhere, Danny muses, that involves something about not having your ex-girlfriend spy on your partner. Well, spying might be a bit extreme.
He and Melissa split months ago, because it was clear after two disasterdly Valentine’s Days, that it just wasn’t working between them. Her exact words were, and he quotes, “You’re never going to love me the way I love you. Not when Steve occupies all the real estate in your heart.”
She wasn’t wrong, was the thing, and after they’d gotten past the initial awkwardness that the fact that Danny was in love with someone that wasn’t her - they actually fell into a good friendship.
It helped that Melissa didn’t know a lot of people in Oahu except Danny, and that their relationship had been a lot like a friendship in the first place. Except with more sex.
Like a lot more sex.
Honestly, given that Steve was the reason they broke up, Melissa was surprisingly gamely when Danny asked her to stay in touch with Lynn, and let him know how things were going with her and Steve.
(He thinks it’s pity, but he doesn’t actually ask because then she might actually answer)
“They broke up,” Melissa says with little fanfare, over their weekly coffee, “Lynn won’t tell me much. But they split about a week ago. Guess she got tired of waiting around for him too.”
It might also be the fact that Melissa is convinced that Steve is just as much in love with Danny as Danny is with him, nevermind the fact that Steve has never showed interest.
“What do you mean they broke up?”
“I mean they’re over. Ended things. Done.”
“Huh,” Danny says, over his coffee, trying to figure out the best way to convince Steve to let Danny take him out for a guy’s night to get over Lynn without revealing how he knows that Steve needs a guy’s night to get over Lynn.
In the end, he doesn’t even have to be all that sneaky about it, because Steve comes to him - asks him out for drinks; so all Danny really has to do is play the dutiful wingman.
“I’m sorry about you and Lynn,” he yells over the music, after the alcohol has sufficiently loosened his tongue, “you guys were good together.”
“It was never going to work out,” Steve yells back, and gives Danny a significant look, “bit like you and Melissa.”
“How do you - how do you know about that?”
“What you think that you and Melissa are the only ones who engage in pillow talk? Lynn talks too, on occasion. When we weren’t you know, busy with other stuff.”
“Other stuff?” Danny chuckles, “Is that what we’re calling it now? You can say sex Steve. This must, must put a damper on your whole two or three days a week thing. Oh wait no sorry, how many days did you say it was? Five?”
“I’ll have you know,” Steve says, staggering on his feet as he and Danny stumble outside the bar, “that me and Lynn had a lot of problems. But sex wasn’t one of them.”
“Well -” he furrows his brows, and stops suddenly, pulling Danny close to him, “Sex might’ve been one of them.”
“What happened? You need tips in bed? Smooth dog?”
“I am very good in bed!” Steve says, affronted, “It was not my skill that was the issue here.”
“Then what was it? No come on don’t clamp up on me now, I have to hear this. What was the issue?”
Steve turns bright red, “I might’ve - I might’ve said the wrong name in bed, a couple of times.”
“Babe, you are unbeatable. No really, you are. First you, you leave the engagement ring that you were going to give Catherine just lying around - then you take off with Catherine in the middle of a romantic dinner, and now you’re yelling her name in bed? Buddy I’m surprised she didn’t break up with you sooner.”
Steve’s giving him this look, like he can’t for the life of him understand what Danny’s saying. “No it wasn’t Catherine why would you think it’s Catherine. No it was - “
And that’s about as far as Steve gets, because a second later, he’s retching their dinner all over the side of the road.
//
+ 1: love him
They’re all out on his lanai: Danny, Tani, Junior, Kamekona, even Duke’s made it out - and Steve’s got the grill set up just a couple feet away from the chairs. Half his attention is on the grill, the other half is on Danny - the way he’s stretched out on the old chair; loosened from the beer he’s been nursing, and smiling at something Tani said.
“Keep an eye on that meat,” Lou says, startling Steve, “I don’t want my dinner burning.”
“I’m not gonna burn your dinner Lou jeez, have a little faith. When have I ever burnt your dinner before?”
Lou looks over at Danny, and back at Steve with raised eyebrows, “you’re a bit distracted today. Forgive me if I’m cautious.”
“He thinks I don’t know what he’s doing,” Steve says in lieu of a response, “but I found his list the other day. All the things that stress management specialist said, Chloe or whatever her name is - he’s got it all written down. He’s driving himself crazy, worrying about this thing.”
“Have you ever stopped to consider why he’s so worried?”
Steve turns to Lou with a frown, “it’s not that hard to put together Lou. He’s worried about my health. I get it, I am too - but I’m not running myself into the ground thinking about it day and night.”
“Look man, I’ve been with you guys for a couple of years now, and let me tell you something about Danny. Now I’m not pointing fingers or any of that, but I’ve seen that man care about a lot of things - but nothing the way he cares about you Steve.”
Steve opens his mouth to reply, but Lou just holds up his hand, “you didn’t see him Steve. The day you got shot? The day you almost died? You didn’t see him that day.”
“Danny was - he had broken ribs, and scratches all over his face. They told him to land the plane in the water did he tell you that?”
Steve shakes his head silently.
“The people in Air Control or whatever you want to call them, they told Danny that his best chance at survival was landing the plane in the water, swimming to shore. But he knew that landing the plane in the water meant that you might die, and it wasn’t a chance he was willing to take. He didn’t even stick around long enough to watch you get taken in for surgery, he was already on his way out looking for the sons of bitches that shot you up.”
“And I’ve never seen anything like it Steve, I’m telling you - I didn’t know he was capable of that kind of violence. There was this one guy, their ring leader, who managed to limp his way over to the helicopter. When me and Kono got there, Danny was standing over him with his gun out, and he had this look on his face - I was worried if I stepped in, he might shoot him just to get to this guy.”
“And after all that was done, he marched right back into that hospital, barrelled right past all of us, and offered up his liver. There wasn’t even a second’s hesitation. Apparently he’d already had the blood-work drawn up, in case anything like this happened.”
Lou claps him on his shoulder, “I love you man, I do. But I don’t love you the way Danny does. I don’t think anybody does.”
“Would you -” he gestures at the steaks, “would you watch over the grill for me? Just for a bit. There’s something I gotta do.”
He doesn’t wait to hear Lou’s reply, just stalks over to Danny and grabs him by his elbow - hauling him up.
“Hey where are we - why’re we going inside, you Neanderthal I was in the middle of a conversation what’re you tugging me around for like I’m some sort of -”
The rest of Danny’s sentence gets lost against Steve’s lips, as Steve turns him around and braces him against the nearest vertical surface. His mouth is already open, which Steve uses to his advantage; pressing his full weight against Danny and licking into his mouth; memorising it with his tongue.
They break up with a wet sound, and when Steve opens his eyes, Danny’s pupils are blown black.
“What was that for?” Danny whispers between their lips, and Steve half smiles at him, “that was me saying thank you. I know what you’ve been doing, trying to manage my stress for me. This is me saying thank you.”
“Huh,” Danny slides a hand around his neck, squeezing, “Why don’t you run that thank you by me again one more time?”

Note
When you have the time could you share the bad au?
Anon, I am deeply grateful that you asked, but I must warn you that this is LONG (16+ arcs long and that’s because I havent conceptualized the others yet) and i am only sending you pt.1 Be warned.
More under the cut:
Deviation from canon:
·        Anything involving the aliens is dropped
·        Algos island won’t be a gas station, but an actual fucking island
·        The Voice is spiritual in nature.
·        The Old is New scene occurs around Book 5
·        Trellis eventually gets some fractions of his memories, but I dunno how yet
·        The Resistance at Frontera won’t be THE Resistance but the Elven resistance – they refused contact with the human resistance because they’re very discriminatory and hostile. The ER is composed of the researchers/engineers/etc and their kids that the Elf King failed to purge when they revolted once they fully realized that they are actually creating weapons of mass destruction
·        Emily gets trapped in the Void
·        There’s a whole lot more, but I can’t recall all of them
Note: Do take that these are not yet properly developed. Many of these are ideas I just enjoy playing around with. It WOULD not put much attention to most characters because a.) I haven’t nuanced their roles nor what part they should play in the story and b.) the narrative focuses on Trellis because I’m biased and ngl the potential of the story he could create is a LOT. He has sooo many potential conflicts, be it in self, society, and nature I couldn’t help myself. Also, do take note that this story is meant to be a tragedy – it’s going to explore Trellis and his reign, and the burden and subsequent consequences from it. The narrative doesn’t seek to “punish him” because 90% of the problems he encountered are out of his control and there is barely a perfect solution to anything, so he is bound to create ruthless and even questionable decisions as a result of his inexperience and young age despite his intelligence; all of these I am intrigued to explore about because all of it I just made up lmao.
In addition, my head blurred between what is canon, what I want canon to be, and what you know about the “canon” in my head (which is likely, not a lot because I never post abt it), so I may suddenly spout things that may seem out of context because you guys lack the background behind it. So if you have questions, pls feel free to send them my way. These arcs are INCREDIBLY condensed because if I spout too many details, I’d forget the details in other arcs. So. Yeah.
ARCS
STONEKEEPER TRIALS
-      Guardian Council arrives at Algos Island which contains the knowledge to purify the Voice from the Elf King (which should weaken him and thus easier to kill him)
-      Stonekeepers of past made sure to put security measure to prove the worthiness of the person seeking said knowledge and using it responsibly for the right reasons by subjecting them to a Trial (they will experience their deepest greatest desires and greatest fears as well)
-      Technically, the knowledge isn’t a concrete thing – it only works once per keeper, but it modifies itself to fill in the gaps of the knowledge they lack but seek (so like if youre seeking how to heal, the Temple will give you that knowledge and THAT knowledge only)
-      Lacking time, all three decided to take the Trials separately but at the same time.
-      This is supposed to be the fic on ao3 is about, even had an outline n all but its too long so I’ll post it later
-      tl;dr: Tellis finished first and is the one who gained the knowledge, and Vigo finished second, but Emily isn’t waking up at all. Eventually they all got attacked by the shadows
-      Trellis sends Vigo up to get the airship to them as he stays behind to protect Emily from the shadows
-      He’s getting super desperate as the enemies increase but Emily isn’t waking up until she suddenly transforms and tries to kill him
-      He barely survives but the Firebird gets away. The rest of the crew retrieved him, but when he retells them what happened…
-      They didn’t believe him. They think he sabotaged Emily.
BURNING OF IPPO
-      It more or less goes the same in Supernova, except the memory thing doesn’t happen and none of the Amulet trusts him except Riva and Vigo. Leon Miskit and Karen are still on Cielis while Navin n Aly are on Frontera but they don’t know that yet.
-      So the firebird attacks as usual, but instead of taken out early in the game, he is pushed to the limit protecting the city and its citizens as he’s the only one who can create a barrier while Vigo distracts FB and Riva evacuates the people
-      Trellis also bothers to release the elf soldiers in prison when it burns so they would be able to evacuate (will be important)
-      He nearly dies from exhausting himself, but manages to repel the FB to leave Ippo alone after much of it is burned. He is devastated by the aftermath because most of the people burned right in front of his eyes (will be important)
-      Worried at FB’s destructive power, they argue between pursuing it or ending the war. Riva argues trellis can’t go around protecting every city as its too fast for them, so it leaves only one viable option; end the war as quickly as possible to focus on Emily before she  burns everything and kill everyone
-      They eventually reunite with the Cielis army, but eventually gets abandoned again alongside the human resistance because they refuse to serve under Trellis, who was going to command the assault
-      Lacking an army, the elven, Luciean, and Ippoei soldiers then offers to help
-      They reconvene with the ER on Frontera, finally reuniting with Navin, Aly and Pil, who were all horrified by the news. Navin has mixed feelings but ultimately agrees it was his fault and is optimistic Em will be ok. Aly on the other hand is apprehensive but continues to trust him.
-      Meanwhile, Vigo departs to convince the CA to change their minds and get more allies, while Trellis, Luger, and the rest forms a plan…
BATTLE OF VALCOR
-      Trellis pretends to be captured by Elf Army to get close enough to the Elf King to kill him – avoiding as much bloodshed as possible. Unfortunately, he was decided to be executed before he could confront him so all hell breaks lose as the disguised soldiers ditches their disguises and fights the remaining EA on the king’s side
-      Note: Trellis is waaay more powerful and skilled here although his destructive powers are nowhere near Emily’s
-      He tries to make his fights as curt and decisive as possible to avoid wasting precious energy for the confrontation (I swear to god the fight sequence is more elaborate in my head but hnng I’m busy rn). Eventually he does make it at the temple of kings – where his father was waiting
-      Trellis was nowhere weak, but he barely holds ANY dice against his father’s power and was very close to nearly dying
FALL OF THE KING
-      He was saved by the timely intervention of Vigo and Riva – who has finally arrived with the CA (who got threatened into cooperating)
-      They barely get the upperhand, but they manage to get Trellis close enough to enact the Scission but, got uphold by the fact that the man they were trying to kill wasn’t dead in the first place but ALIVE
-      The Elf King begs Trellis to end it all, the mercy of release, for death, and it horrified him into freezing into place – MISTAKE
-      He gets a fatal wound being stabbed because the EK was tricking him (he is alive, but he was not really manipulated by the Voice – He was always evil all along), sneering at his softness that was never quite wrung out by the abuse
-      But that also gave Trellis the perfect opportunity to cast the Scission, which he then does at nearly the cost of his own life
-      The Voice gets cut off from the EK and retreated to the Void, and the EK dies from his wounds, and Trellis was about to meet the same fate
-      All three of them are barely held together by threads, but Vigo uses the last of his power so trellis could survive. At this, Trellis just has a mental breakdown and he doesn’t want to go any further, being so close to his breaking point because of all the horror he has to endure (ohh boii and it doesn get better from here)
-      But Riva was pleading for him to get up, get the mask and get to the other side, to show the mask, the soldiers that he WON and Gulfen surrenders and end the war. These two stumble slowly, but steadfastly, Riva practically the only thing supporting Trellis as they try to get to the fighting
-       They eventually manage to reach it, but trellis has to stand alone, composed, undefeated, because if it were anything less, people would challenge him. He declares a surrender.
-      The battlefield silences. One by one, the weapons drop.

Prep for the 60th: 1st Season of Doctor Who
“It all started out as a mild curiosity in the junkyard, and now it's turned out to be quite a great spirit of adventure.”
As someone who discovered Doctor Who through the reboot, I often try to picture how I would feel watching these episodes for the first time with no prior knowledge of what Doctor Who is or what it becomes and if I would be hooked on it or not. But then I remind myself, this is the third time I’ve rewatched the First Doctor era, so obviously I do enjoy it and I probably would have back in the 60s if that’s when I was born (at least I hope so). Part of the reason I think it did do well is its clear in the first season that there is something in it for everyone. Having four different main characters to follows help, but so does the variety of stories and rewatching it, I found that there elements of Doctor Who that have been there from the beginning and things I’ve missed or realized, Chris Chibnall is somewhat trying to bring back. So first, let’s talk with our first TARDIS Team:
Tumblr media
From left: Ian Chesterton, Doctor, Barbara Wright, and Susan Foreman
We don’t know much about the Doctor when we meet him and its intentional. In fact, he’s irate that Barbara and Ian have the gall to check in on Susan and run into his ship which is why he kidnap them because he doesn’t want them to reveal who he and Susan are or report them. Too bad he can’t properly control where the TARDIS goes though so as he begrudgingly tries to get rid of them time and time again, he ends up in the wrong time, wrong planet, or wrong country and thus the four continue to travel. Of course this causes friction, but you can tell how much these people start changing him, making him more open to other people’s opinions and gaining a sense of protection for them. Sure they may drive him crazy, but they end up bonding and learning a little about this mysterious traveler by his small quips and schemes.
Susan Foreman is the doctor’s granddaughter. She’s 16, which at this point in the series is truly meant to have her be a teenager though in Gallifreyan years, she must be an infant. But she has a curiosity to explore new places and though often it gets her into trouble, she also proves to be quite capable of taking care of herself and the others even when she is fearful. This grows more through the first season too as she continues to bond with Ian and Barabara who protect her, continue to teach her, and provide her other perspectives than her grandfather. Its why when she learns she has a high capacity for telepathy she’s frustrated that her grandfather is too overprotective of her. She also is very friendly which is why most people she interacts with, she genuinely makes friends with them.
Ian Chesterton is a high school chemistry teacher, though while he is good at spotting chemicals, learns he is much more of a fighter the more he travels with the Doctor. He also often feels like he must fight to protect everyone on the TARDIS, though his closeness with Barbara is unmistakable. In the stories, this could be a potential romantic interest, but mainly as two colleagues taken away from home, I think they bond more because of their shared interaction. Still while Ian can be hotheaded at times, he is loyal to the Doctor and helps him scheme when its needed to save everyone.
Barbara Wright is a fantastic companion to the Doctor. While sad and troubled by their circumstances of having been taken from 1963 England, she also loves exploring new places and meeting new people and because she is a history teacher, she loves getting to meet historical figures or being in timelines she knows to see history in action. Also, she’s smart and courageous. Often speaking up for the truth and justice of situations and wanting to find peaceful solutions, even when it seems there isn’t one. Truly her tenacity for the adventures that they are on, I believe shape the Doctor the most into opening up and taking care of them and that’s because while she relies on him, she calls him on his bullshit.
The Serials:
1. An Unearthly Child (4 Parts with the Cave of Skulls, The Forest of Fear, and the Firemaker)
Tumblr media
Concerned with the wellbeing of one of their students and mystified by her high intelligence and gaps of common knowledge, Ian Chesterton and Barabara Wright follow her home only to wind up in a junkyard with an old police telephone box. While wondering where Susan goes, they meet a grumpy old man who turns out to be her grandfather and the owner of a mysterious space ship. Angry with them for discovering the TARDIS, the Doctor takes them on a trip and winds up in the times of early man in the prehistoric era. A tribe takes them prisoner on the promise they can help their leader make fire, but because they are also dealing with an outsider, there is a surge of control for power and several escapes and recapture moments. Finally they escape and make their way back to the TARDIS to go back to modern times. Overall Rating: 6/10
2. Daleks (7 parts with the Dead Planet, The Survivors, The Escape, The Ambush, The Expedition, The Ordeal, and the Rescue)
Tumblr media
Instead of winding up on Earth, the four end up on Skaro; a world devastated and dead from radiation and the remnants of a long ago battle between the two original races: The Thals and the Daleks. Intrigued by exploring the metal city, the Doctor lies about a broken TARDIS component to explore it, but the four end up captured by the Daleks and sick from radiation poisoning. Because the Daleks are interested in these new people, they use them to see if they can solve the issue of the radiation which is what keeps them in there metal suits, while also taking down the Thals. While finding friends in the Thals, the team also gets frustrated with them for not wanting to fight back against their oppressors, even when they ambush the Thal leader and kills him. But soon they agree when it means helping the TARDIS team get their part back so they can leave. Overall Rating: 8/10
3. The Edge of Destruction (2 parts with The Brink of Disaster)
Tumblr media
Mid-Flight something strange happens to the TARDIS and it feels like some mysterious entity enters the ship, taking over control of Susan at times to try and murder Ian and Barbara, but also making the Doctor suspicious that these strangers have sabotages his ship. While time seems to stop and the instruments don’t make sense, tensions run high to their breaking point. But Barbara not only calls out the Doctor for being overtly cruel by suggesting she and Ian are to blame, she also is the first to notice that the ship seems to be giving them hints that something is wrong. Confused by the idea that the ship could be sentient, the Doctor at first doesn’t believe her, but then realizes she is right and fixes the problem to get them on their way. Overall Rating: 10/10
4. Marco Polo ( 7 parts with The Roof of the World, The Singing Sands, Five Hundred Eyes, The Walls of Lies, Rider from Shang-Tu, Mighty Kublai Khan, Assassin at Peking)
Tumblr media
It’s a shame the video of this episode is lost. I’m sure eventually we’ll get an animation, but this is one of the best serials in the entire first season and it does something I kind of wish the show would bring back, but I think Chibnall is doing his best with, which is that this is purely a historical serial. No alien badguys or sci-fi plots, just the TARDIS crew stuck in the wrong timeline and caught up in the politics of the time. Thinking he’s gotten them back to Earth, The Doctor is surprised when they quickly get captured by Marco Polo and his travelling caravan on the way to meet Kublai Khan. Thinking the TARDIS will be the perfect gift to gain back his independence and travel back to Venice, Polo steals the key and takes these mysterious strangers with him to the Summer Palace. Travelling with him is Ping-Cho, a young 16 year old who bond with Susan but is pledged to marry an old man at the Khan’s palace, and Tegana, a warlord whose suspicions of these strangers he uses to scapegoat for his own traitorous actions. Throughout their journey Tegana causes problems and delays them which helps his lord’s armies get closer to the Khan’s forces for what will be a war if Tegana can successfully assassinate the Khan, but these strangers are more than just spirits and find ways to thwart him or survive around his strategies in ways he can’t predict. While there is camaraderie and a bond between the TARDIS team and Polo, when given the opportunity they do take their leave quickly so as not to be stuck any longer within the Khan’s court. Overal Rating: 10/10
5. The Keys of Marinus (6 parts with The Sea of Death, The Velvet Web, The Screaming Jungle, The Snows of Terror, and Sentence of Death)
Tumblr media
Finding themselves on a another strange planet, the team soon gets pulled into a scheme to bring together the Keys of Marinus in a fight against the Vord. This involves wristwatches that can teleport them to different parts of the world and in each is a brand new adventure to find the keys. In one, the Brains of Morbius try to take over their minds and imprison them in delusions, but Barbara evades the trick and ends up destroying the Brains, freeing Altos and Sabeetha who then go on to help them. They find another key in the jungle though it has its tricks and then end up on a frozen mountain with a cruel man who intends to steal their wristwatches and kill everyone but Barabara. But escaping this threat, they end up in a nation where Ian is accused of murder in a plot by the locals to steal the final key. Thankfully the Doctor has been there long before them and helps reveal the true murderer and gains Ian freedoms. With the final key, the six make their way back to the original landing spot only to find Sabeetha’s father has been killed and the Vord have taken over. But with a trick of a fake key, they not only sabotage Yardek, but get back to the Tardis for their next attempt at Earth. Overall Rating: 7/10
6. The Aztecs ( 4 parts with The Temple of Evil, The Warriors of Death, The Bride of Sacrifice, and the Day of Darkness)
Tumblr media
Even though this is her favorite part of history and something she focused on, Barbara is heartbroken that despite her attempts she can’t save this civilization and get them to stop with their human sacrifices. Disguised a goddess incarnated in human body, she assumes she has the authority to disrupt their traditions and bring about change. But while she and the Doctor have a blow out about it, it turns out that she can’t change their ways, but at least she saves her friends from punishments and death and as the Doctor does remind her, she does change at least one mind which might be what starts the change for the Aztec civilization. Meanwhile. The Doctor accidentally gets engaged over cocoa while trying to find a way to access the tomb and get back to the TARDIS Overall Rating: 8/10
7. The Sensorites (6 parts with Strangers in Space, The Unwilling Warriors, Hidden Dangers, A Race Against Death, Kidnap, and A Desperate Venture)
Tumblr media
When the TARDIS lands on a spaceship in the future full of what appears to be dead people, the team is on edge, but then confused when the people begin waking up. That’s when they learn this small crew has been stuck orbiting a planet called the Sensephere whose inhabitants have been burned once by human contact and wary of any more. But because Susan can telepathically communicate with them and the Doctor has intelligence that could save their people, they travel to the Sensephere to create a cure for the disease killing the Sensorites. But one Sensorite doesn’t trust them and plots to hurt their cause so they get left alone. Meanwhile the original humans who crash landed on the planet are the ones behind the poison and the Doctor finds them in the aqueduct to solve all the problems. Overall Rating: 7/10
8. The Reign of Terror (6 parts with A Land of Fear, Guests of Madame Guillotine, A Change of Identity, The Tyrant of France, A Bargain of Necessity, and Prisoners of Conciergerie)
Tumblr media
After an angry outburst, the Doctor threatens Ian to get off at the next stop and while at first it looks promising they are back in England, turns out they are in France and right in the heart of the French Revolution. Separated and captured by the police, Ian, Barbara, and Susan, are sent to the Conciergerie prison and told they are headed towards the Guillotine. Ian gets released because an undercover English spy knows he receives information from his prison mate and Barbara and Susan get rescued by a couple Frenchmen, displeased with the way things have gone in France. Meanwhile the Doctor assumes the identity of a southern province authority while trying to rescue them and meets Robespierre, who is concerned of plots to overthrow his rule. In return for helping James Stirling learn these plots, he helps the four get back to the TARDIS and onto more adventures as a conclusion to Season 1. Overall Rating: 6/10
