we know for a fact that the Lost Light has access to human media, primarily movies, TV shows, and music-- and we know they generally seem to fucking love most of it, or at least find it interesting

but what would everyone's tastes be, in regards to Earth music?

time to talk about music for a long time!!! strap in, enjoy some tunes

we already know Cyclonus has impeccable taste and enjoys some of the best jams the 80s had to offer.

I can't help but imagine Rodimus being given a media archive of Earth tunes to approve for the Earth Dance would only result in chaos

(it's not like he would say no to anything, he absolutely blanket signed it all, it's just an obligatory thing-- or Ultra Magnus tells him it is, solely to keep him away from Important Captain Things that he would rather handle himself or hand off to Megatron, lmao. the shit that really needs to get done)

and this is how Rodimus discovers the somewhat questionable yet amazing genre of "mid-90s underground techno rave mix tapes"

(somewhat related, I still think Testarossa might as well be Rodimus' theme song, although it's not a 90s track and has more of an 80s synth vibe)

Rodimus would love that "computers are the future, fuck yeah let's make Digital Cool Future Music" mid-90s shit, there is no way he would not. it has the exact energy level that appeals to him and is also cheesy and weird and chaotic. and has like 500 different sub-genres, so his selection is endless, lmao.

he would probably find it cute that this is what humans imagined to be the peak of "digital sound" at the time. like lmao this was the best humans could do when asked to create music that sounds like it was made by robots or other mechanical space future cyber lifeforms--high concept!!! he would probably find it interesting and endearing. this is what organics think non-organic music is like!!

anyone acting as DJ at Swerve's on any given night would be so, so mad that Rodimus keeps requesting shit like "DJ MASSIMO ITALO DISCO BEST RAVE TUNES LIVE FROM LONDON 1995" or "DJ ARMPIT SLUDGE FEST HOUSE-RAVE-DRUMS N BASS SET 1996" for them to play, lmao

not individual tracks. the whole album. entire mix tapes of random, somewhat questionable mid-90s techno house rave bullshit.

that having been said, that good ass early 90s trance techno might send him into a spiral depending on his mood at the time, lmao (it's been known to happen)

but at the same time I can imagine him sharing tracks like Solar Quest - Space Pirates with Drift and they'd both just sit there and jam out, but quietly, thinking about shit while sitting in a port window next to each other (this was peak sleepover party techno, Back in My Day-- many deep conversations were had while listening to stuff like this, lol)

Drift would probably find some of Rodmus' recommended stuff to be pretty good for meditation-- although once he finds out about the human drug culture involved and certain concepts of experimental consciousness etc. that surrounded techno/rave and other related genres, it might cause him to pull back a little bit

(until he finds out about kandi culture, in which case, Drift would love the idea of hand-made unique bracelets and sentimental trinkets being made and exchanged at warehouse shows purely out of Good Vibes and Love for Fellow Beings and it turns out actually he fucking loves this shit, a chill vibes based "expand your mind" kind of music subculture appeals to his Spectralist sensibilities and he likes sharing tunes with Rodimus in return)

Drift picking tracks on his own would likely lead him down more of a classic rock road, but more of the chill side of things, more of the folksy type of classic rock -- I can see Drift really enjoying Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum or California Dreamin' - The Mamas and the Papas. or like, Incense and Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock.

I mean, Drift might even go Full Earth Hippie and end up liking Green Tambourine - Lemon Pipers, lmao. in fact I am fairly certain of this.

I can see Drift loving Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In - The 5th Dimension. the whole vibe would probably appeal to him.

he'd quite possibly also like I Need a Dollar - Aloe Blacc, but it hits him in a place that still hurts to think about. so it's in rare rotation.

meanwhile Ratchet would probably be fine with classic rock too, like the good Dad Rock shit, just a lot of tracks from the 70s/80s -- a couple tracks he and Drift could probably agree on would likely lean more into the experimental/psychedelic rock side of things, like White Room - Cream or something like Wheel in the Sky - Journey

Rodimus tries to troll Ratchet by recommending Old Time Rock n Roll - Bob Seger, but joke's on him because it turns out Ratchet loves it, lmao

Swerve would go all out on classic bar jams for the evening playlist. Chill, good shit like Do It Again - Steely Dan.

Megatron would love Sinnerman - Nina Simone; He'd send it to Drift in a command crew level secured data packet, and they would both feel the hell out of this song. They don't need to talk about why. They never mention it to each other.

Megs would also probably love These Old Bones by Dolly Parton (mostly due to the lyrics, rather than the upbeat tune, but he would find it relatively relaxing), as well as 9 to 5 (of course), and similar music. Country from back in the day when country music was more about the struggle of poverty and the working life of rural people. Country music from back when songs told all the untold stories. He can respect that.

He'd listen to You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive by Patty Loveless and it would get him right in the fucking spark. Megatron is the Cybertronian equivalent of an Appalachian miner, god dammit. He understands.

Megatron would also like Johnny Cash; He would overthink Ghost Riders in the Sky and it would depress him, partly because it reminds him of Seekers... sigh.

I think he'd also like Cold War - Janelle Monae. He'd be way into good lyrics; What's being said in a song matters most to him. "This is a cold war, you better know what you're fighting for..." Indeed.

hi! i recently subscribed to the pateron, and im a little intimidated by all of the extra content available, lol. in your opinion, what are some of the funniest short rest / dungeon court / mixed bag episodes to start with? (if anyone else also has their fave eps to share please do)

i’m gonna operate under the assumption you’re caught up on main feed eps but if i suggest a short rest for an episode you haven’t listened to, definitely hit the episode first.

these are just off the top of my head with ones i can remember what they are, i may come up with more later lol

short rests:

i think short rests 99 and 100 should actually be required listening for everyone, they’re fucking earth shattering. start there.

the one for 70 is stupid and reveals how they almost lost the episode so that’s a good one.

c3e22 has one of the most insane short rests in retrospect. and c3e41 also has a bonkers short rest. they talk about santa manscaping in your bathroom. the episode came out in august. i wept.

c2e41’s campaign wrap up short rest also is a good time and gives good insights on the campaign.

the short rest for the can they kill it is the origin of crabster. 77 has a rose before noon. 91 ends with jake saying something so insane it ruins me.

the short rest for caldwells frooze your own adventure also slaps. the wilson brothers are there.

the brussels hookup is another 8bbc short rest that’s so dumb and beautiful.

c3e54 has them all hyped up on too much caffeine after a mixed bag and talking about jumping off decks onto frozen lakes and landing on one boob and one butt cheek. i wish i was kidding. it’s incredible.

dungeon courts:

i’m mostly gonna highlight patreon dungeon courts with the assumption you’ve listened to the corresponding main feed eps.

king robert can klump ft. ally beardsley. the flintstones costume fun around the house. you don’t know what that means but it’s. something.

a little place called mangia’s. murph breaks down. caldwell loses it. jake turns to google.

yuncle ft. jasper william cartwright. rats ride loose and your yuncle is power hungry.

the video dungeon courts are great, you can see murph lose it.

bird jail ft. zac oyama. actually anything with zac oyama. it’s great.

table rattlers ft. jeremy cobb. i don’t remember what happens exactly but it’s great.

the dm’s judge ft. lou wilson and zac oyama. absolutely iconic bench on this one.

mixed bags:

mixed bag tier my beloved!! so many are so good!

the whole blazing babe chronicles. not enough people know there was a second hot boy summer campaign that’s available on the mixed bag. caldwell spills half a corona on his character sheet. it’s a dry july and the boys are Not on the same page about it. love is love is love returns.

the biggest loreser is new but damn if it isn’t impeccable. warning: the fred flintstone noise is fucking LOUD

all the taste tests (energy drinks, m&ms, and gamer energy drinks). jake tries an expired products. jake later forgets to buy peanut m&ms while emily decides she can taste what color an m&m is. murph gets hyped on caffeine and has to take a break resulting in one of the most insane short rests to date. listen to the short rest first, it’s funnier that way.

if you can listen to live shows, (the sound is sometimes challenging) i recommend those. great starting point is the melbourne one from last year, i laughed so much the first time i heard it. “i was a lurking actor. that’s a union job!” also the boston dungeon court did hit the main feed but started as a mixed bag and i was there so i want to shout it out.

emily’s winter solstice one shot!! brennan and siobhan are there and it’s creepy and truly so fun.

both dungeons and dragons movies. jake and emily gaslight murph. they talk about a truly terrible set of films. there’s someone called grape lady that is a highlight.

both spilltaculars. at times a bit cringe, but it’s fun to hear other people’s failures sometimes because then you feel better about yourself. plus they make up a judgement scale that is different every time.

spellcheck! the game show that’s kinda sweeping the nation. or was. it’s fun.

that’s long (oops) and all i can think of off the top of my head. if people have other faves, share them for new patreon people!

also, my last bit of advice is to join the streams if you can. jake’s stream is for the short rest tier and above and caldwells is for the mixed bag tier and above. they’re wild. we had caldwell drawing everyone in crocs for like 6 months (it’s arguably why we’re getting the jibbitz). sometimes you get tucker lore. (tucker, the fictional man jake’s wife is cucking him with.) they’re grand.

Simon sends him the exact amount of money he needs to purchase the couch he was JUST looking at on his laptop- since when did simon get his personal address? Or his bank info????

Then Simon just starts. Saying the weirdest shit. Like "the freckles on your taint are cute." Like what??? Not even going to pretend to NOT be looking? And sometimes he'll comment about Johnny wearing less boxer briefs on missions (how does he know it's not like Johnny strips to his underwear and shows off to his l.t. so how does the man know?) Or how he doesn't like Johnny's shower curtains.

And then Simon sends him a selfie (mask on ofc) of himself half naked in Johnny's home bathroom while the man himself is still on base.

And then shit just gets downright strange. He'll come home from base, and find that half his clothes are stuffed into one side of his closet, the other half filled with shit too large for him to wear, smelling like his lieutenant. There's extra toothbrushes, trinkets lying around, food he doesn't usually like in his fridge.

And then the next day Simon walks in with his duffle bag filled with his stuff and acts like they've been living together forever??? His name is somehow also on their lease??

He tries to talk to his family about it but they're all like "Oh, Simon? That nice fellow who visited us while you were deployed? He mentioned being your boyfriend, he was such a nice fellow."

And Johnny just has to live with it. Because he suddenly got saddled with a giant buff boyfriend who he kinda had a crush on so is it really THAT bad?? In the grand scheme of things, Simon could have been A LOT worse, knowing that freak of nature.🗑️

i looove the idea of everyone else on base being super uncomfortable around ghost but not helping johnny out at all with his very obvious obsession because they're just like "better you than me buddy". they're in a large meeting and ghost literally lifts johnny off of his own chair and sets him in his lap, tucks a hand up under his shirt and gropes his pec, and literally everyone is just like "doo doo doo... nothing happening over there..."

im also obsessed with the idea of ghost not even TRYING to act like he's not stalking soap. he's loud and proud about using johnny's toothbrush after him for just a TASTE of his boy. he's jacking off in soap's shampoo and will mention it in front of other people. ghost will look soap dead in the eyes and say "washed your laundry yet? don't. i want your boxers for tonight" and just WALK AWAY

I would like to hear your thoughts on the DF diaboys routes you have played at this point.

yessir!! under the cut:

Shu: Shu's DF route is an exercise in meeting him where he is. We know Shu loves his family, but we have to understand it isn't easy for him to show it. We're right at the precipice of a big change in Shu and Reiji's relationship, but we have to accept that acting the way Reiji wants him to just isn't what's best for Shu. Yui wants confirmation of Shu's affection for her, but she has to learn that he shows his affection in other ways. It's kind of like this route is showcasing Shu's flaws and you're going, "That's okay! I like Shu because he's Shu!" so I think it's sweet. Take your time, Shu! ...If I had to complain about this route, I'd say that we spend so long away from the other characters that it gets lonely. I guess that's the point, though...I just don't really find all the "hiding from everyone else" scenes very exciting after a while. We could've spoken to Reiji more, and I honestly feel like Shu and Reiji have bigger breakthroughs in other routes, so this one feels like it's missing a big scene with the Beatrix bros.

Ayato: If you had asked me when I had just played HDB and MB, I would have told you, "Never in a MILLION YEARS will I feel anything other than hatred for Cordelia," but well!!! Surprise!!! This one will make you feel things other than hatred for Cordelia, whether you like it or not. I truly understand how the triplets felt when they said they loved and hated her. The situation is too complicated for me to get into it very much here, but in short I'll say that I really liked the direction they took with the plot of this route, and I came out of it feeling like Ayato and Yui took a well-earned step forward. Absolutely loved this one. So proud of both of them. Whenever I play through the DF Sakamaki prologue, it makes me feel cruel if I don't pick Ayato's route lmao

Laito: If you are an angst lover like me then you will eat this shit up. It's an extremely bad time for every character involved. It hurt so good. I had to spend 70% of this route convincing Laito not to kill himself. In this route, Laito discovers a fact about his father that changes his outlook on his entire life, like every single thing about his life, and the performance that Daisuke Hirakawa gives is like.. It's pure art idk what to tell you. Reading this route is not good enough, you need the audio. I was scared, I wanted to cry, and as a triplet lover there were high points too, but my heart ached for the entire route, even through the good ending! I like that even the obligatory fanservice scenes don't let you forget how terrible the situation is! Strongly strongly strongly recommend

Yuma: Alas, I can only give you a super biased review of this one. It's my favorite route because it has so many good Shu/Yuma scenes. This route is our last bit of "Shu avoids Yuma and keeps secrets from him for his own good!" drama before Yuma finally gets the whole truth about his childhood. We get the cute flashback scenes, Yuma gets some awful nightmares and has some panic attacks, there's a little of everything! :D Even Zweig is there and he and Yuma are super cool, and if you know anything about Lost Eden then you know how hilarious that is. Anyway, this all culminates in THE YUMA BEST FRIEND MONOLOGUE which is one of my favorite dialovers scenes, period, because it makes me so happy. It feels soooo good to watch the arson recovery trio...recover from the arson. 10/10. Shuuma shippers, this one is required reading.

Carla: I'm definitely not shaming you if this route is to your taste, but it certainly wasn't to mine :') Most diaboys talk down to you, but Carla talks down to you to such a degree that I started getting offended over stuff I've never been offended about before. Like, "What do you mean you don't like the taste of my blood?! My blood is fucking delicious!" lol. I am not into all the forced pregnancy stuff, I am not into the demon racism stuff, I am not into how often Yui is reminded that she has no family and no one will come save her. I personally found Carla to be unbearable until he collapsed and started the process of dying. Then he got all sensitive and lonely and I was like "ok I can deal with him now." The ending isn't very satisfying either (What do you mean sucking Yui's blood will stop him from dying for now? He's been sucking her blood this whole time and his symptoms got way worse.) and Carla's blood sucking noises made me want to take my headphones off and throw them away (sorry toshiyuki morikawa I respect you so much toshiyuki morikawa) soooooooooo.........I didn't like it. I grew to like Carla around CL so don't be sad if you like him, ok? He's my friend now, but this route is still just unpleasant to me hgfghsdf

Shin: I know I said I hated the forced pregnancy talk and the demon racism plans and I did hate them, believe me, but Shin's route was successful in getting me to like him. I love that they put him in jail and beat the shit out of him, that was such a good scene and I really feel like my tastes are finally being represented lmao. Because it's his introductory route, he's pretty rough around the edges (true for every diaboy—everyone is a huge jerk in their introductory route) but there was still a lot to enjoy! The flashback scenes were fun (dare I say...he was...cute?!) and when put together with Carla's, the Tsukinamis have a super interesting story & dynamic together, and it fits the themes of dialovers really well. The differences with Carla's route, to me at least, are that Shin's scenes feel more like "playing with a diaboy" even when he gets mean, Shin has the added appeal of being teasable and of being a BIG FLUFFY DOG, and of course, Shin's blood sucking scenes didn't make me want to die. I'm clearly in the minority here, though, because Shin is at the bottom of every popularity poll I see lol...Anyway, it didn't make me LOSE MY SHIT like some other routes did, but I had fun playing this one!!

bro I just got into atla and WHAT IS WITH THE FANDOM DUUUDE.. what’s with all the discourse it’s literally not that serious damn and how could people misinterpret literally every character so bad 😭😭 why are people so mean to my boy aang. he’s literally just a little guy. sunshine personified literally HOW IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE TO HATE HIM WHAT!! and just. everyone misinterprets everyone so bad, zuko too, also it is kind of annoying how most of the fanworks are about him, I love him too, both he and aang are my favourite characters, but it would be nice to see stuff focused on other characters too.. also people in the fandom woobify him so bad and it’s just like. why. his flaws are what make him interesting!!! also I have no strong feelings on z/k, I think it’s a pretty mid ship but it can be done well (one of my favourite fics does it really well and the reason I really liked it there is bc IT WASNT EVEN THE FOCUS THE FOCUS OF THE FIC WAS AANG AND ZUKO’S FRIENDSHIP, and the author wasn’t even planning for it in the first place it sorta just happened with the way they wrote it, so it actually made sense in that context, so it can be done well but imo it doesn’t work within the context of the show and kataang is objectively so much cuter cmon y’all have bad taste smh) anyways yeah. atla fandom is wack as hell and I will not be joining it lol a lot of people here need to go rewatch the show bc they seemingly completely forgot what it’s about and also touch some grass (but tbh aaaall the sequels will never be canon. to me. lok and most of the comics butchers the gaang so bad and it makes me so upset so I refuse to acknowledge them as canon. there are no atla sequels in ba sing se :)

₊˚✦ Mike has trash coffee taste, takes it straight with maybe some cream or a sugar packet but refuses to try other things like blended drinks, will drink a cappuccino or an americano but hates being in a Starbucks

₊˚✦ ooh I’m not sure when he changed it but he used to wear a gold crucifix, fuck my life, but stopped wearing it later on and I’m wondering if it’s due to him taking a bigger step away from Catholicism? Like he’s absolutely a lapsed Catholic with terrible experiences in both home and church, it makes sense for him to be conflicted if not repelled from religion. I’d like to think out of habit he may still go to holiday midnight masses, and sometimes on his own for the quiet and the near-anonymity.

₊˚✦ I’m thinking that leather coat of his he wears around all the time, even in the snow like a fucking moron, may have been a gift or one of his bigger purchases for himself. Like something he saved up for or found and just, let himself have the little luxury. Coats like that are expensive and high quality, he wears the same damn one nearly every episode in both the original series and when he was on criminal intent.

₊˚✦ it may just be me projecting, but I feel like he’s got a record collection. Probably some old record player and some nice speakers, milk crates full of records that he has to bend over to sort through, groaning about his back all the while. Definitely a lot of jazz standards and the greats like Sinatra, as he mentions in the series at some point, Martin, Baker, Fitzgerald, Armstrong, Cooke, Davis, etc plus some classic rock, stuff like the typical dad rock™️ — doesn’t peg me as a frequent flyer for concerts but goes for really good shows, he’s a medium venue person not the intimate ones but not the giant stadiums either. He likes Billy Joel but isn’t vocal about it.

₊˚✦ he’s got clutter in his place, a little too cramped but it makes it homey, not decorative but at least lived in. Things are more out in the open than put away, he’s more visual and muscle memory based than having things stored away.

₊˚✦ lastly, a massive sweet tooth. A snacker, keeps things in the drawer of his desk to munch on between meals. He’s got more snacks than ingredients to cook with in his home kitchen and I stand by that. He looks like he would enjoy pretzels a lot, like a lot. And other salty snacks, but definitely an ice cream, eat out the tub kinda’ guy. I’m betting Raspberry, Chocolate, or Strawberry. Maybe a chocolate fudge if he’s feeling a little wild.

talk to me about bojack horseman! Specifically your most unpopular opinions. I was on the Diane Defender Team for a long time and I remember a lot of men hated me for that lol. Luckily tumblr was cool.

Oh god how I love Bojack Horseman! It’s one of those very few shows that I would just….highly highly recommend to anyone & everyone to watch from start to finish & that I have very very few criticisms of like. It just had a perfect arc & every character was explored so thoughtfully & the ending hit every note I could’ve ever wanted. One of my top favorite shows of all time.

It’s SO hard to know what opinions I have that are unpopular given the lack of “fandom” the show has - which makes sense, it’s not really the type of show I’d read fanfic or “ship” characters in so like. I GET it but I also don’t know what opinions I have that are unpopular because I’m not familiar with the fandom opinions lol!

Like. People hate my best friend Diane??? I’ve heard it said that she’s hated before & I’ve watched a LOT of “in defense of Diane Nguyen” type video essays but I’ve also (thankfully) not seen people hating on her. I’m sorry I hate to be that person because subjective taste is a thing but I’m sorry if you hate Diane you’ve entirely missed the point? She’s so integral! Diane’s arc is so important!

Diane is the kind of character that a lesser show would make the “good kind feminist counterpart to BJ” but that Bojack Horseman (the show not necessarily always the character) recognized as a real messy flawed three dimensional human who YES calls Bojack on his shit but is often accidentally awful to both Bojack & everyone else in her mission to be a “good” person.

Diane is the picture of what idealism in a cynical world can lead to in a negative way. She wants to be this bold feminist with strong beliefs that will fight for what’s right but she often forgets the people around her in the frenzy of her fight to do what she perceives as “good.” And her arc!!!! I get so emotional thinking about Diane’s arc - about her relationship with Princess Carolyne & how Carolyn advised her to just write the schlocky detective books that made her happy because it’s the kind of stuff she’d want her daughter to get to read & about how she realizes that she doesn’t have to make her trauma beautiful she doesn’t have to make it her whole personality she can just write & have fun! And like. We see her give up on some of her ambitions & gain weight & accept that she needs to let go of her incredibly toxic friendship with Bojack & that’s okay & doesn’t have to mean she hates him or that either of them are evil - her arc is so incredibly real & relatable & unlike anything we typically see on TV & I love it.

Okay that wasn’t an unpopular opinion(or maybe it was? I hope not) it was just me rambling about how much I love Diane Nguyen but like. I really really do.

Bojack Horseman depicts so many things - generational trauma & toxic friendships & romantic & familial relationships & the way we traumatize other people because of our own trauma & the ability of ANYONE to grow & change even the most toxic horrible person you can imagine even if it takes decades to get there - that you just don’t see on regular tv. And it does it through funny talking cartoon animals so it’s not boring & it never feels pretentious just like it’s telling a story. And while it CAN be depressing it knows how to perfectly balance the vibe of comedy & absurdity so it’s not just painful to watch like it would be in live action or with human characters without the absurdist comedy aspect & it just perfectly balances entertainment with hard hitting themes.

hello friend and welcome to hockey! i’m sure you sent this ask looking for a nice little list of links but unfortunately because of who i am as a person i’m about to give you way more information than you asked for. 

before we dive in: i have a terrible memory when it comes to stuff i’ve read, and i have a pathological lack of bookmarks, and there is a LOT of hockey fic, so despite a fair bit of crowdsourcing from friends this list is obviously by no means exhaustive. there is SO much good stuff out there that isn't linked here. hockey fic to me has always felt like a very choose-your-own adventure fandom, and i want to empower you to choose your own adventure. there is so much hockey fic, there is truly something for everyone, but of course it’s all also subject to personal taste, so please read on for a little smorgasbord from which hopefully you can find some stuff you’ll love.

a very brief history of hrpf

when i say there is a lot of hockey fic, i feel like it is fun context to know that people have been posting hockey fic on the internet for more than 20 years. i have not been reading it for 20 years, so even having many years of this fandom under my belt, i am still building off the hard work of the beautiful weirdos who came before me. a lot of the pre-ao3 stuff has sadly but understandably been lost to time, but if you’re interested at all in seeing a bit of how we got to where we are now, @lovethygoalie has compiled some links here, and he has an nhl fandom history tag with some more fandom history!

hockey fic, due to the nature of the sport and the inexorable march of time, has always kind of happened in waves/cycles of certain players/pairings/teams being popular in the fandom for a little while, then fading away as new players/pairings/teams become the new hot thing. every time there’s a new wave of a popular thing, new people get sucked into the fandom, which creates this very charming-to-me phenomenon where i can often guess the ballpark of when they joined hockey fandom based on who their faves are, what teams they’re into, even what teams/players they’re NOT into, lol. (but obviously there have also always been people shipping rare pairs and medium-popular pairs and rooting for less popular teams and players, too! it’s a big fandom!)

anyway, that’s something i have found super fascinating to observe over the years and also something i wanted to touch on here to explain why there’s going to be some fic recs in here featuring players who you might never see mentioned the current hrpf zeitgeist. some of the players have retired, some of the pairings have simply waned in popularity, some of the teams are just not currently “in” in hockey fandom, but i still think it’s totally worth going back to dig into older stuff in addition to having fun with the current popular narratives and pairings, etc.

Bumble(Undertale Sans Bee): This bitty goes by Hicker currently, and he has the Fall morph, making him mostly brown with some spots of orange and red, he's a rescue but has had enough therapy(and a really good support system in his massive hive) that he can handle himself just fine, he does guard his honey but does trust his hivemates around it by now, and knows they wont take to much, as his old owners used to take all his honey, either forgetting or not caring  that he too eats the honey, hes dating Isaac, and has been for a long time, he was one of the main reasons he made it through everything when he was first rescued, his honey is a deep red orange and has a bit of 'bite', it's a lil spicy, not even Isaac knows how tf he makes it spicy, he's 5 inches tall,

Bumble(Undertale Sans Bee): She calls herself Peony, and loves peony and rose flowers, though she likes any flowers pretty much, she has the Spring morph, making her a soft greed with pastel pink, purple, and red flower patterns, along with vines that are a darker green, shes very social but likes to have her own space, and she loves mixing flowers into her honey! Giving it a much sweeter taste! It also has a bit of a purpleish blue tent to it, shes been with Rose for a few months, coming up on a year soon, and they love each other even more than when they started dating, she's 4 inches tall, making her shorter than average,

Apis(Undertale Papyrus Bee): His name is Harlow, and has taken to greeting outsiders of the hive and even foraging outside of their territory, making him one of the main recourse gatherers when it comes to thinks outside of the hives area, he's kind and carring and has brought back many a lost or lonely bitty, though they're always vetted and watched closely, he's kind! But not the best when it comes to figuring out if someone isnt as kind as well, his honey is a nice orangey yellow color, though he doesn’t make as much honey as your average bee bitty, he's 7 inches tall,

Apis(Undertale Papyrus Bee): They go by Alex, and does a lot of watching from high up, they have the best eyesight out of the group, almost comparable to that of a hawk! So they've been appointed to be on watchout! They rarely make honey but when they do it’s a pretty red color and almost tastes like wine, and is actually just as alcaholic as wine, though they make sure no one has to much at once, just to make sure, they're 8 inches tall,

Apis(Undertale Papyrus Bee): It goes by Bark, it is a loner and prefers to be by itself, though it will be affectionate when it wants to, it usually chills in it's hive and makes honey or does some craft or DIY, honestly if anyone wants some furniture they uaually go to Bark for it, he's one of the best carpenters in the hive! If not the best point blank, it's honey is more waxy as it likes to use it to finish furniture, but it's like a nice butter too, depending on how cold it is, it's 7 inches tall,

Fera(UnderFell Papyrus Bee): He goes by Brutis, and he has the Beast morph, making him much bigger, he's the king of the hive by association as he's dating Tera, he's protective of his and Tera's hive, he was a rescue and had an old hive that was wiped out by a bear(they're small bitties! And the bear wanted their honey-) making him over protective of his hive, he has scars though they've healed and he used to work out to the point of hurting himself, though he doesn’t anymore, Tera makes sure about that, his honey is a red hot color, and almost looks molten, it tastes spicy and gives a massive energy boots and gives an effect almost like steroids(though not as bad) so he doesn’t share much, nor make much, he loves the taste! But eating it a lot can be harmful, he's 12 inches tall,

She somehow finds new ways to make it pretty colors every time she makes honey again! She stands at 13 inshes tall,

Blurb Advent 2023: Day 9

This is an absolute attack on me, thank you.

Walking into a bookshop invariably lead to you leaving with more books than you’d intended to buy. It was dangerous for your wallet. So you’d made a rule for yourself. You were on something of a book buying ban until your local bookstore had their annual big sale event, at least until you’d read more of what you already owned. Which meant, despite three of your favourite authors releasing new books and a whole lot of FOMO when you saw what everyone else on booktok was reading, you hadn’t really bought a new book in quite a few months. It had been going well, you’d made a good dent in your collection, but it was finally time. You’d seen the bookstore posting on instagram that the sale was coming and had immediately began planning your Saturday around a trip to the store. You mentally plotted out a route through the store that started with grabbing one of their cute wire baskets the supplied and would let you hit up all your favourite genres without too much back and forth. Then you made a physical list of all the titles organised by priority – the titles you needed at the top and ones you were possibly interested in but less sure of at the bottom. And finally, you made the decision to head in early. Not quite at opening but not too long after so as to beat whatever rush might accumulate later in the day.  

Your plan had gone off without a hitch and by about 10 AM you had a basket in hand, four books already tucked into it and a fifth you were slipping back onto the shelf since the blurb didn’t sound as interesting as you’d initially thought. You were just grabbing out another book (not on your list but the title was intriguing) when you heard someone say your name. There, on the other side of the shelf was Ben. Ben who you’d matched with on Bumble and been out with a couple of times. You’d got the distinct impression he was into you, but the timing hadn’t been right and things had sort of fizzled out before they got very far. But seeing him now you felt a little a bad about that and wondered if he was still single.   “Hi Ben, nice to see you,”  He came round to your side of the shelf, and there was a slightly awkward moment where you contemplated going in for a hug but wasn’t sure if it was appropriate. Thankfully Ben saved you from yourself, leaning in to give you a peck on the cheek, “Yeah you too, hows it been?”  “Oh yeah, y’know, work’s been a bit crazy but can’t complain. How’ve you been?”  “Good, just got back from the States a couple of weeks ago where I was staying with a mate, so that was nice. Good to get back home though, even if it is a bit quiet, just me.”   You happily filed that away, much more confident that he was still single and still interested.   Ben nodded towards your basket of books, “Taking advantage of the sale then?”  You glanced down and laughed, “Yeah, excatly. Plus I figure it’s good karma helping out an indie store like this one. More I buy, better for them. I didn’t know you came here.”  “Well it’s a little further than I usually go but I saw they were having a sale and I remembered you’d mentioned this place, so I figured I’d have a look.”  You blushed a little that Ben had remembered the store so long after your date.  He kept speaking to distract from his own slight blush, holding up a book you only recognised by the cover, “My mate’s been recommending me this one so I figured I’d give it a go.”  “Well hopefully he has good taste,” you smiled and then wished you could think of something else to say. You supposed your own imminent purchases would make sense but you didn’t know how to talk about them without explaining your list and your buying ban and really that was too much.  But once again it was Ben to the rescue, “How many more are you planning on picking up?”  You laughed, relieved one of you was good at conversing, “Not sure yet, when they start overflowing I’ll stop.”  “Well, if you need a hand picking them up, let me know.”  All you could do was smile and nod, pleased at the unexpected turn the day was taking.   “Right, well, better let you get back to it then.”  “Yeah, thanks, um, see you around?”  “Yeah, definitely. You’re number’s still the same right?”  “Mmhmm,”  “Cool, maybe I’ll call you sometime.”  “I’d like that.”  Ben nodded, smiling, “Alright, well, see you later then.” He gave you a last little wave as he headed towards the front of the shop.  

You were entirely distracted from your shopping, mostly wondering when he’d call and if you should call him first and if so when. Without meaning to you’d gravitated towards the romance section, entirely out order from your plan, so you shook yourself and focused back in on your list, grabbing out another one you’d had your eye on since you’d watched a TikTok about it. A few times during your shopping your eye was caught by some blonde hair and whenever someone with a heavier footfall moved behind you, you’d look up hoping Ben was back. And then you’d tell yourself to get a grip and stop acting like such a dork. But finally, your basket very full and another couple of books in the crook of your elbow, you decided you were done. You’d found most of the ones you’d wanted as well as a few impulse buys that just seemed interesting, and you were ready to pay for them. Saying as little prayer for your bank account you headed up to the counter, joining the queue behind an older woman who had a Jane Austen themed puzzle in one hand and her purse in the other.  

“Well, this is awkward,” Ben said from over your should and you turned to find him directly behind you in the line.  “Ben! You’re still here.” you’d expected him to have left after your conversation stopped but couldn’t pretend you weren’t pleased to be wrong.   “Yeah, I um, I was going to go but I don’t have any other plans and there were a couple more things I wanted to look for so I decided to hang around. I would have said hi again but I didn’t think you’d want me interrupting your shopping.”  “Are you kidding? We could have done some shopping together, compared books.”  “That would have been fun,” He sounded a little disappointed he hadn’t thought of it, “But something tells me if we had I’d be leaving with more than the three books I found. You sure you got enough?”  "No but I can only carry so much,” you laughed, liking the way he smiled when he teased you.  You were interrupted by the cashier calling you forward, Ben called to the second register a moment later. He of course got through paying a lot faster and you watched him walk towards the exit even while you made polite small talk with the woman ringing up your books, but were pleased to find he was waiting just outside when you were through.  

He noticed the four bags you were grasping straight away, “Are you right with those?”  “I may have gone a bit overboard,” you laughed, “seriously considering getting a cab home.”  “How far do you live?”  “Not that far really. About a quarter of an hours walk.”  “Oh that’s nothing, I can give you a hand. Save you the cab fair.”  “Probably good I don’t spend too much more today. But only if I’m not putting you out.”  “Not at all. I told you, no other plans. So,” he made a give them here gesture with both hands and you gladly handed over two of the bags.   “And the others,” he said, grabbing them before you could say anything. He seemed to have an easier time with them than you did though he grunted a little as he adjusted them in his grip.  “You don’t have to take all of them, I can carry some.”  “Don’t worry about it, I’ve got them. Just lead the way.”  “Well if you insist, but I feel bad about it.”  “You carried them all around the shop, your arms must need a break.” he said, trying to sound natural but failing a little when he had to jolt the bags to readjust them again. 

You had thought that maybe half way he’d have given you at least one of the bags if not two, but when you suggested as much Ben shook his head and asked if it was straight ahead or round the corner. You felt bad every time he shifted the bags, trying to balance their weight more, and every time he made a little grunt at the strain. But you had to admit it was kind of hot, seeing his muscles flex as he strained to hold the bags up, his face flushing more the longer you walked. And it was very sweet of him to offer to help. So you decided that when you finally got home you’d have to invite him inside for a cool drink. And maybe offer to massage his big strong arms too.

Mitsuki: What is this “White Special Day!” you mentioned？

Tsumugi: From White Day Eve until the end of March, Panda Nameko Land will be decorated to fit the White Day theme!

Tsumugi: The park will contain decorations for attractions that the idols themselves have suggested, a limited-time menu inspired by the idols…

Tsumugi: A scannable QR code throughout the park with a greeting video from the idols, and so on;  it’s definitely something that girls would like!

Mitsuki: I see, this is my first time being presented with the task of redecorating an attraction!

Tsumugi: Yes! I’m excited to see the outcome of everyone’s first redecoration!

Tsumugi: The theme of the campaign is a White Day spent with idols, so you’ll get to perform alongside Re:Vale and TRIGGER during White Day!

Mitsuki: Oh—! That feels quite lively!

Tsumugi: The schedule consists of surveying the park before the campaign starts, suggesting decoration concepts, filming the greeting videos, and taste-testing the limited-time menu.

Mitsuki: The surveying is going to be tough, but being able to go to an amusement park makes me happy!

Mitsuki: Are we going to be the ones to decide the recommended food on the limited-time menu?

It's crazy just how many of these bastards I have published under my own names and yet wouldn't recommend someone read with a gun to my head lol. Also I went with six so I could include one from my SourFacedLemon account:

i. hold it in your mouth for a minute (real hunger has a real taste) (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Glitch/Savage Opress, Explicit)

From the inaugural year of Smut Wars, this actually holds up pretty decently. Takes place vaguely within the Season 5 Crime Lords arc because that must have taken months to accomplish and the visual of Savage and Maul desperately trying to get along with Death Watch for that long amuses me. Included some thoughts about Nightbrothers and clones that I don't usually get to explore since Maul isn't, you know, culturally a Nightbrother. Also I reject the cultural obsession with dick size, I hate it, Savage is the embodiment of "small, leave me alone" and I'll die on that hill. Also also, Glitch is here! He's sweet! He's Force-sensitive! The narrative is in love with him and wants him to live and thrive! It's me, I'm the narrative!

ii. self/less (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Maulsoka, Teen)

Older, and imperfect, but I had a good time with it. This fic has everything: the unhinged Maul-Ahsoka team-up that a Star Wars What If series should explore, Maul being traumatized and terrified and not hiding it well, genderfuckery, two forms of mind-control, the Son and the Daughter escaping Mortis because what do you mean they're just dead now??, Jesse surviving... Short and sweet and well beyond my writing skills to fully flesh out, but I genuinely think there's a decent premise buried in there.

iii. a beast within you (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Maulrex, Explicit)

Also notably imperfect, but another 2023 Smut Wars gift and I spent so much time trying to research octopi and tentacles without actually consuming any tentacle porn, and I want that effort acknowledged. It's a vague Percy Jackson fusion AU, if that's any more enticing. And if you get to the end there's links to some beautiful fucking fanart someone (@omaano) made of it!

iv. pretty (handy with that iron) (Jak and Daxter, Jak/Jinx, Teen)

Transmasculine!Jak who not only has terrible taste in men (Jinx) but also has a vaguely-emasculating-pet-names-induced gender crisis during the sewers escort mission and Daxter doesn't get to rest for a single second. Idk I was feeling silly with this one. It was fun to write and I actually don't regret it lol.

v. all restraint and poised bones (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Maulakin, Teen)

I just love a confused Maul POV in general and also an outsider POV on time travel. It's just so much fun for me personally. Also I know it's because that's the way the timeline shakes out but the fact that Anakin missed meeting Maul and all that that entails by like two hours is as ridiculous to me as the Grievous thing; their unhinged chaotic goblin energies would have bounced off each other and created a feedback loop that would give Sidious a heart attack, so I understand why it never happened. But still.

bonus vi (and vii and viii). The Expansion of Clan Mudhorn (The Mandalorian, Djarin/Leia/Boba, Teen)

I have written non-TCW, non-Maul related Star Wars fics, as difficult as it is to believe. These ones are also silly, and strangely fluffy compared to most of my other content, but it was 2021! Mando S2 had just ended, we had canonical Tem-as-Boba-Fett and were all so excited and optimistic, it was a different time! Honestly my only regret is that I haven't thought until just now to go back and edit them to fix Djarin's name. Everyone is surnaming this poor man who misses his baby so, so much, you guys, that's tragic lmao.

while we are a bit responsible for children safety, it doesn't mean we shouldn't make any dang dark content. the world doesn't evolve around kids on the internet who have free access. it's not my responsibility that some kid read my properly tagged dark fic and got traumatized by it.

yeah, personally? I am disgusted by incest and children x adults. eh, ok then. I just don't read them. it's that easy. (safeshippers be like you can't even age up the characters.)

Detective Shows🔍

Hey guys! So I'm gonna start a little rec list of detective (and detective adjacent...i.e. I consider federal agents and cops to be included) shows that I give my highest regards. Basically, I'll be adding one show per day/possibly every other day/possibly every week depending on how it's going lol to a master list of recs part 1 (later I'll be doing lists for fantasy shows, scifi, etc). Note that some shows may cross genres/be included on several lists. Each time I add a show, I'll be giving my 2 cents on what makes it special and list-worthy. So stay tuned! Feel free to reblog with a list-worthy show that fits the category if you'd like! The goal here is to recommend as many awesome shows as possible to keep the characters (and ourselves tbh) alive!!

And so...without further ado...give it up for the very first rec on the list...

Case Closed!

This is a CLASSIC...and if you have not seen it by any chance at all...then I recommend booking it to your nearest device to start on S1. To let you know just how classic it is...I've seen this show referenced in at least three of my favorite Asian dramas...and I am 100% sure there are more!! To give a comparison, Case Closed is popular in Asia like Scooby Doo is in America. Everyone knows this show (or should). And for good reason! Here's a bit about the show for beginners:

It's about a teenage Sherlock Holmes-esk detective who gets poisoned and instead of dying turns into a kid again...while keeping his teenage sleuthy mind intact...whaaaaat??! Ik...that in itself should make you wanna watch haha!

It's an anime...but even non-anime stans will like it. Case and point: me. Not a huge anime fan...but the style to me is beautiful. It's kinda more on the cartoon side of anime...I guess?? Basically it's not too over the top with fan service and sparkly graphics/or gore. That stuff is present...but it's not nearly as intense as other animes. It's tasteful. And more than that, the music and theme songs are so gorgeous that they're tear-inducing. I still blast them in my car on long road trips lol.

All of the characters (side and main) are amazing. From the Junior Detective League (oh and I watch Case Closed dubbed btw...both subbed and dubbed are great for this show...but I grew up with dubbed, so that's the one I prefer) to Rachel and Richard and Harley Hartwell...I could literally list every character here, but I will not. There's too many!! They all have their own complex characters and motivations. Seriously...I'm floored with how deep even the seemingly nobody characters get. It's AMAZING!!

Finally, cause this is getting sooooo lengthy...Case Closed has one of the best romance plot lines I have ever seen. The relationship between Jimmy (Conan) and Rachel is one for the history books...if it's not already in them. I don't read too many of those lol. They're like Romeo and Juliet...but throw out Romeo and Juliet cause they kinda suck honestly...and add a soccer star, teenage super sleuth stuck in a little kid's body and a kick butt karate-wielding teenager who's honestly the most relatable female anime character I've ever seen. They are great and so freaking adorable that just thinking about them makes me wanna hejkjxnxjxklslsl

Anyways, give a round of applause for our first detective show rec...Case Closed!! A 5/5 Star 🌟rating for this one for sure!!
