Favorite art medium and why?? Go!

OOH good question!! Um I’m not sure if i have a favorite medium overall, but currently I’m really partial to ink pens/inks/watercolors (no shush it’s not multiple mediums if you group them together in a category!!!)

I like how natural and soft they can look, and sketching with an ink pen is stupid fun. My mom gave me a glass pen that she didn’t use last year and I have been GLUED to it, I like how it forces you to commit to something and you have to work with your mistakes.

Watercolors are very lovely for coloring ink sketches, especially since the ink I use is VERY water soluble, so you have to choose shades that would go well with the ink when (and it is when and not if) the blue/red/black starts bleeding into it.

(It’s very ironic that I’m answering this ask right now, as I just sat down to watercolor and immediately lost my beautiful beautiful long-suffering watercolor palette 😭 shock! Horror!)

Anyways thanks for sending in an ask!!! I love asks so much you have no idea :D as a treat you get an entire sketchbook page of ink/watercolor!

actually yeah im making a quick poll on this. for anyone who has been around long enough to remember when i made my massive clamp readathon situation (in which i read every single one of the works they put out) be everyones problem. hi. im doing it again but much worse now. reading about 400 volumes (and more if i can find more) of tezuka osamu's work. i am just curious on the general consensus of if i should upload thoughts as i read each one (ie: one post being like i finished kimba/jungle kingdom, heres my thoughts) or just have a MASSIVE post of hey. read them all heres my thoughts (as i did with clamp. which is when i found out tumblr had a max text limit)

Randomly remembered the half-reason i call my oc-verse by the name it has while laying in bed. One-half of the reason i still knew, but I had forgotten what had truly, really cemented it jointly until now

(it was a song from my favourite band I haven't listened to in a while.)

(the song fit so well at the time, still does, that i needed to hold onto it for the main protagonists forever, by partially naming their story in reference.)

Does this explanation make any sense? Does anyone know why I'm tearing up remembering this. Aahh

i say this as someone who has been working on taking this to heart as well, but like......babes....y'all have GOT to let go of the need to have your art is interpreted exactly as you intended it to be. you're fighting a losing battle. nobody, literally NOBODY. will interpret it exactly as you intended it to. that's the beauty of art!

stop needing to control every little thing!! let people interpret it how they want!! even if it's the exact opposite of your own intention!

and i know this is easier said than done, but stop stressing about the bad faith takes as well!!! that says way more about them than it ever will about you!!! block and move the fuck on. or turn off comments! most places let you do that now.

if you're literally so pressed about someone interpreting your art "wrong", you should probably just use geocities or something else and make your own website to host your work, or just stop posting on such public websites in the first place. you will never be able to control how people interpret things, so stop stressing about things you literally have no control over.
