anon who got surgery here who said absint and your art in general was keeping them sane! unfortunately i badly broke my spine a few days ago and had to have ANOTHER major surgery... and recovery is SO boring.

especially absint, he just looks soooo soft i want to comb his hair/fur and stroke him gently and give him kisses on the forehead and hold him so close and keep him warm...

the thing about his wing stumps vibrating when hes excited is SO SO SO CUTE and i love his four eyes and the fact that hes color blind...

and also im curious if he purrs?? i know some elves do in your setting, perhaps the moth man does too?? hehe

AND his skin/fluff texture sounds so wonderful and i love his looks and that one yawn pic you drew of him...

and also im curious about his diet, based on the yawning pic?? hes got those sharp teeth but hes also got that tongue like some bugs do that can slurp things up... whats his favorite food??

and also i think absint may enjoy a stim toy of mine: glitter jar!!!! its so soothing to shake up and watch the bright sparkles float around and swirl... mayhaps ill draw him with a glitter jar sometime when im recovered enough...

and last questions for now... i see hes down one arm, did he lose it or was it a birth difference?? and does he have any health conditions because of it and/or in general???

Diet-wise, it's,,,, a Special type of diet. I'll just say by default the sharp teeth are meant to puncture but also the mix of tongue + teeth can work similarly to a snake and he can indeed swallow a small animal whole if he must. Strong gastric acid and a relatively flexible body shape.

Team Supernatural, I’m a sucker for the concept of nature as an entity neither good nor evil, and some things in the show don’t (yet) make sense without the supernatural angle (lottie speaking French in that one attic scene, for instance). I wouldn’t be opposed to Rational at all, though. It would be chilling.

Teen timeline favorite is a toss-up between Jackie and Tai, but Jackie has to win. Loved Ella since Arcane and so seeing her portray a live action character was a dream. Plus, Jackie is so genuinely sweet and there’s something about her (+Laura Lee and Javi, but specifically Jackie since she was eaten first) being the sacrificial lamb of the team that’s so beautifully tragic. Plus, her mannerisms and her dedication to her team even when they exile her, is just. Yeah. I bawl over Jackie. In the adult timeline, Shauna is my favorite for sure, with Callie as a close second. Her story is the most interesting to me and her relationship with Callie and flashbacks of Jackie are insane. And Melanie Lynskey!! Is reason enough!!

Probably an obvious one, but nothing beats Bullet with Butterfly Wings kicking in as Natalie runs from the cabin after drawing the Queen for me. It was a huge “holy shit” moment.

Jackieshauna has to be my favorite, love some toxic doomed lesbians! The story of season 1 revolves around them and their relationship so much, and Jackie haunts Shauna constantly even in the adult timeline. Always something with them. Taivan and Mistynat are close seconds - I also love Lottienat and Lottieshauna, though. I’ve been known to dabble in the Taishauna department too. I play every team so I can never lose

I’m so so torn between 1x01 and 2x06. The pilot forever has a special place in my heart for showing us the girls’ lives before the crash. It made me feral over Jackieshauna within the first few minutes. As for Qui, this episode wrecked me so hard and when something has the sheer emotional power to do that, it automatically makes me fall in love with it. The most memorable line in the whole series to me was “Why can’t you hear him crying?”

I want and am holding on hope for Nat to be the Antler Queen. I honestly don’t want another twist to throw us off the scent of who it is this season—we were already thrown off from thinking it was Lottie, and narratively, I think it makes the most sense for Nat to take on that role and be the tortured protector of the group. I do agree that there’s a non-zero chance they’re gearing up for it to be Shauna, though.

I would have to agree on the Jackie eating scene being the best of the show so far. It’s the most viscerally haunting shit of the whole series—it changes the tone of the show forever. And the cuts to the feast. Jesus christ. Just. Jesus christ. “She wants us to” like JESUS CHRIST

This is honestly more of a want than a prediction but I HOPE it happens regardless; more of the dead girls haunting the living ones. More of Laura Lee haunting Lottie. More of Jackie haunting Shauna. Sooo much of Nat haunting Misty. And on that note, more of the teen girls showing up in the adult timeline!! Show us the trauma!! Second, I think this season is going to show us why Misty is so obsessed with Nat since Nat is now gone in the adult timeline. I bet Misty will team up with Nat in trying to protect Coach Ben and will become her most faithful “follower.” They have that Coach Ben connection and I think that’s what ties them together in the beginning.

I think I’ve found myself relating most to Tai and Jackie? I joke about being Van exclusively for the ginger element but Tai probably wins out. Her relationship with death and with her own mind, her frustration with the group’s stagnancy and her determination to take things into her own hands, her ambition and need to “make things better” + her constant application of logic to an illogical situation, I can relate to all of those aspects. She feels the most down to earth to me because I feel closest to her personality and behaviors.

I would say just the fact that I’ve tried to explain the logic of the show to everyone I know and received the most wild looks in return is mine. It’s great.

A funny thing I’ve noticed about the fandom perception of men is how. You know. Hated they are 😭 I love that yj is a female-centric show and wouldn’t have it any other way, but there has been some crazy discourse about headcanoning some of the girls as transmasc so I guess I might have a lukewarm take about that (in that I’m transmasc and love those headcanons).

Here’s mine!

1. I am mostly Team Rational because I love the way this show depicts trauma but I also love seeing the supernatural side of things through the survivors’ eyes if that makes sense.

2. Natalie in the teen timeline because I love her compassion and softness underneath the front she puts on. Lottie in the adult timeline because I love her internal battle with herself and how afraid she is of her own mind. Misty is a close second in the adult timeline!

3. “Cornflake Girl” playing while Nat sees the mossy tree for the first time, Callie seeing the Adam Martin driver’s license in the barbecue, and Shauna eating Jackie’s ear. It just goes so perfectly with everything that’s going on (especially the elevated piano while Nat and Travis are scaling the mountain and the lyrics while Shauna takes the bite!)

4. LottieNat is my favorite ship I can’t help it Nat and Lottie are my favorite characters so having them together is a dream (TaiVan, JackieShauna, and TravNat are up there, too).

5. 1x09 “Doomcoming” is just amazing and captures everything I love about Yellowjackets. I love when they let the girls go batshit crazy, hoping we get more Doomcoming vibes in S3.

6. I want the Antler Queen to be Natalie because that would show a true descent for her in the Wilderness from being the most morally grounded one to the leader of the group at their most unhinged and primal. But honestly I think that Shauna might be the AQ after all…

7. I think the Jackie-eating scene is the best in the entire show. The “Climbing Up the Walls” song choice, the bacchanal feast flashes as a way of coping with the horror of what they’re doing, seeing them go fully feral for the first time, it’s such a well crafted scene.

8. I know this probably won’t happen but I’m just going to throw it out there that Cabin Daughter is alive and she will be revealed to have been Javi’s “friend”!

9. I relate to Shauna the most because I also admittedly have a bit of an obsessive/intense personality and I, too, internalize my emotions to a very unhealthy degree sometimes. I also grew up being in love with my childhood best friend who is very, very much like Jackie (and now we have been dating for 7 years!)

10. Mine is a mix of going to a Yellowjackets panel and sitting like 5 feet from the showrunners, doing everything in my power to score early screening tickets to Heretic and Companion, and pretending I was sick so I could go home early from work the day that the S3 trailer came out.

11. The male characters on this show get too much hate🫢 I like Travis, Jeff, Kevyn, and Walter (even though his introduction and storyline are rushed and forced). I don’t like them more than the female characters, but I like them nevertheless and appreciate their contributions to the plot.

Blade x Ex-Princess!Reader

You could feel the heat of Blade’s stare on you when you asked not to go to the Amidal planet when the mission was assigned. However, due to the script, you knew that your ask for leave would be denied. And it was.

After the meeting was adjourned and it was determined that both you and Blade will be going on this mission, you immediately found yourself cornered by the very man himself.

“You’re usually wanting to go on missions, even volunteering yourself most times.”

He stated it matter of factly with that signature look on his face and his arms crossed over his chest, and honestly, he wasn’t wrong. If it was any other planet, then you wouldn’t have nay problem, but this one… you grimaced, but shook your head.

“It’s…,” should you even tell him, “nothing. I just have a bad feeling is all.”

“The script doesn’t say that you’ll die there.”

“I know, it’s just a feeling is all.”

He watched you carefully, and you hated how it felt like his eyes were tearing you down as he tried to find the problem, it was sweet that he was caring in his own way, but it still sent shivers down your spine.

“Let’s just get ready to go, ok?”

You saw his expression shift for a moment before it reverted to his usual blank expression, you decided not to dwell on it too long as you both left to head towards your shared room.

“What was that all about,” Silver Wolf asked her hand resting on her hip as she watched them leave.

Kafka laughed softly, her hand raising to move a strand of hair behind her ear as she looked at Silver Wolf, “I wouldn’t worry about it, but I’m sure those two will be even closer than before once they come back.”

Silver Wolf crinkled her nose at that, “they’re already dating and make sharing a hotel room awkward, do they need to be closer than that?”

Kafka merely shook her head at Silver Wolf’s antics, but kept her gaze on the door that you both left through.

Meanwhile, five system hours later, and both you and Blade found yourselves on the Amidal planet. Just setting foot there sent your heart racing.

“Since this is one of the few remote planets, they won’t know who the Stellaron Hunters are, so we can walk around freely.”

You nodded as you both started walking forward, your feet scrunching against dry grass and leaves as you headed toward the closet city, lucky it wasn’t even that far. And just seeing the outline of it, you already knew that it was the capital.

I need to calm down, you thought, they won’t remember me… right?

Blade kept stealing glances at you all throughout your short journey, but he didn’t say anything. If he was hoping you would open up about what was bothering you, he wasn’t sure, but he did know that it was starting to irk him now that you weren’t acting like yourself. Instead, you started to exude fear.

“We’re here,” he said once you two got to the city gates.

You steadied your breathing, but the moment you lifted your head and stepped one foot through the gates palace guards were quick to filter out of the towers near the gates.

Blade was already unsheathing his sword as he stood close to you, his eyes narrowed and stance ready to strike if they got any closer.

“Princess!”

From the corner of your eye, you could see Blade’s form slacken a bit causing you to wince. I guess they remember me after all, you thought almost solemnly. The guards surrounded you both, but they didn’t draw their weapons.

“Princess! We’re happy for your return!”

“Please sheathe your weapons, your father would like to see you!”

You chanced a look at Blade as he put away his sword and looked at you, “princess..?”

“You dare speak to her in such a questioning tone, you-“

You got in front of Blade, “he didn’t know I was a princess, so you can spare him, or.. well, he can spare you,” you whispered that last part, “moving on, you say my father wants to see me? How did he even know I was here?”

“He said it was only a matter of time before you would step through those gates again! Now, come along, but not you , you can stay-“

“Blade comes with me,” you interjected.

The guards nodded and moved to escort you to the castle, your old home, and during the walk you could feel Blade’s gaze on you.

Sighing, you looked up at him, “sorry for not telling you sooner, I just… I just wanted to start a new life, far away from here.”

“We all want to start anew…”

“You’re not mad?”

“No.”

You smiled before getting serious again, “my father is… a bad person. I can’t promise you that things won’t end in bloodshed.”

“That’s alright. Defeating your enemies will not be a problem for me.”

You wanted to laugh, but you managed to stop him instead and kiss his cheek ever so gently, “thank you, Blade.”

As long as he was by your side, you were sure that dealing with your father will not be a problem at all.

Short answer: they get really upset and try making it your fault (shocker.) Ain't no way any of these mfs think they're the problem. Good news! you're mostly unharmed and alive.

Sekido

You're always being hunted the moment the sun comes down and you don't return home in time. Reasons like that are exactly why he hates it when you part from him. 

This time is different.. he can't find you in your usual spots. There's no fucking way, right?

How could you.. No, how DARE you? Do you think that he's some joke? That his feelings for you are something that you can run away from like it's nothing? 

The second he's sure the sun won't harm him, he's already white knuckling his khakkhara, swinging at anything and everything in his path until he gets to you.

They know how to sense if you're near or not, hell, they probably know how your specific blood type smells like. 

Did you think cuddling up to you and memorizing every detail about you was for nothing? Don't be stupid. All he needs is a trace of you and he's gone in the blink of an eye.

You better enjoy running while you can because when he catches you, and he will, those legs of yours won't have much use after he's done with them. 

Sekido doesn't WANT to do this, but you honestly give him no choice. After he trusted you enough to stop looking over his shoulder, you do this? How can he ever put any faith in you again!?

On the bright(?) side, Sekido's rage wouldn't be solely on you, it'll ricochet onto everyone, especially the other clones and himself. 

They were supposed to be looking after you! But they can't do anything right, even a task as simple as this. 

And why did he think it was a good idea to trust them with something of big importance when all they do is fuck everything up!? Everyone's idiocy is rubbing off on him!

The entire time on his search for you, he's cursing and wanting to crush anything he can get his hands on, especially your bones. 

He doesn't even bother with speaking to the others, too busy spewing out all sorts of hurtful and frustrated comments about everything. 

The brutal thought that you’d rather run away than be with him isn't one he wants to entertain, but it's echoing in his head.

At least, once the other clones get there, Karaku and Aizetsu brawl with Sekido so you're unharmed while Urogi carries you overhead. 

Sekido's jealousy flares up when he sees you in Urogi's arms, making him even more pissed if that's even possible. Great, now he looks like the bad guy and the other three, the saviors. Fucking perfect.

There's a lot of yelling and a lot of blood, especially with Urogi making things so much more annoyingly difficult in the air. Karaku and Aizetsu aren't helping. Why is Sekido suddenly the problem?! You ran away!! 

But when he calms down enough, he's cursing at everyone through clenched teeth. Sometimes trying to convince the others that you don't even need your legs anyway!!

Once you get back home (or temporary prison until you somehow regain favor), Sekido will eye your legs while gripping his staff from time to time. 

Exactly why he's forbidden to be in a room alone with you for a while until he settles down..

He glares at you more often and grows colder than before. Arguments are more common where he twists your words just to have you talk with him and be angry within reason. 

Any other type of conversation makes him so irrationally upset that the others need to step in so that he doesn't lose his temper again.

Karaku

The calmest out of the group. He brushes it off as “you're playing hard to get” again, and if he makes a ruckus, you'll scamper back and beg him to stop like always!

Then it gets darker out.. and when Sekido left, he seemed pretty pissed. Like more than usual..... shit.

Karaku sprints after Sekido when it clicks that he's found you. His mind starts reeling, unsure whether he should laugh at the absurdity of your decisions or get pissed off because you didn't even bother to give a hint! 

Not like that would do anything aside from give you away but regardless!

Everyone needs to relax, this is obviously something they can sweep under the rug. This isn't that big of a deal and you're just having a fit, but things like these can get you hurt, y'know? 

They're fun and all, sure, just maybe give him a heads up next time, yeah? Sekido can't take a joke, you know this!!! Still.. There's a way Karaku can work with this.

He'll be able to swoop in, save you, be your hero, and remind you why staying with him is kinda important. Just in case you forgot~ 

You don't wanna be out and about without his charming grin and protective hold would you? Don't answer that right now, he has a feeling you'll say something wrong!

Yet.. what if you need a firmer hand to remind you of what Karaku provides? What if you got a little too comfortable being protected so you thought you'd be alright leaving them? Man, who knew you could be spoiled!

Because of this, he would purposely fumble, letting Sekido get near you just so he can stop him at the perfect moment. He purposely gets hit too and makes sure some blood gets near you. To remind you how that could've been yours.

When Sekido calms down, Karaku laughs in your face and would pinch your cheeks if you weren't up in the air with Urogi on the way home.

You should've seen your face! It was really cute~! Maybe getting scared is your thing? He'll note that for later.

He offhandedly advises you not to do things like that all the time, fighting Sekido always kinda sucks, but it's not like you actually had a chance of successfully running away so he won't chastise you too much for it. 

That's not his job, and his heart hasn’t pumped that fast in a long time.. not even in a fight! You're so amazing~~

And delusional if you think he's not going to milk this “heroism” thing back there for some extra affection points with you. 

Don't be so mean. he got his head blown off twice and jaw dislocated thrice, not to mention everywhere else on his body. Don't you think those parts of him need some extra loving? more than usual?

There's not that much Karaku can say after that aside from reminiscing like it was a funny story. He's not upset about it, mostly a little miffed you got kinda far without him noticing, but he gets over it. 

The usual routine starts back up for him when you're back home. It's like nothing happened, but he keeps a closer eye on you since everyone's so tense.

Urogi

If you're not home before the sun sets, Urogi's clawing at the walls with stress. He usually accompanies Sekido to go find you, but this time is different. Urogi could just barely tell you were around.. When Sekido bolts, Urogi's flying as fast as he can, trying to find you first. 

You're so far.. you must've gotten kidnapped!!!!!

The stress from before burns into anger, expecting to see someone having their hands on you while you're calling out in vain. How could he let this happen?! Damn sun! 

He darts through the skies even faster imagining it, and when he finally reaches you, you look.. fine? and alone. and looking at him like he's the danger. He's here to save you, dummy..

Urogi falls to his knees, burying his face against your stomach and finally wrapping his arms around you again. Your fists violently hit his head and yank fistfuls of hair back, but it doesn't phase him. 

Your comforting warmth is back, that's all that matters. And god, your smell.. it's almost making him dizzy. He missed you so much.

There's many holes to the story in Urogi's head as to why you're so far from home, but he fills them in with more convoluted delusions. It's just a peaceful reunion right now.. 

That is until Sekido finally arrives and starts swinging his khakkhara way too close to your fragile bones. 

Now he's back in defense mode where he scoops you up and tries flying out of reach. This is so stressful!!! There's lightning everywhere and he keeps having to dodge the multiple staffs thrown his way. 

He shields you with his wings as best he can while trying to stay in the air, so you don't get hurt during Sekido's outburst.

In the skies, it's much clearer to see the hurt behind the haunting glow of Urogi's eyes. Did you care about how he might feel? Did you miss him at all? Did you not feel loved enough? Did someone say something to you? 

As he maneuvers the sky, he holds you as tightly as possible, lightly digging his talons into your skin.

Being without you for a couple hours is agonizing enough on its own. If you HAD left him, abandoned, cold, alone.. he doesn't want to think about it. All that matters is that your kidnappers or liars or whatever influenced you are gone, and you're back safe with them!!! 

You.. you still like him, right? Of course you do, fate wouldn't force your paths together if it wasn't for a reason!

Coming back home is uncomfortably tense, especially with how violently Aizetsu kicked Urogi across the room, nearly through the wall, when he tried to lick your wounds clean. It really hurt! 

When you're patched up, Urogi is ten times as clingy if that's possible. He has his arms looped around you constantly so you can't stray too far, and if his hands are busy, he always has his wings!

As happy as he is that you're back, he can't help but cry into your chest sometimes. Everything is so tense nowadays, he hates it! How could you go and do something like that? Apologize immediately! Or at least hold him too? Doubt creeps in a lot, and your attitude isn't helping.. 

His mood swings are stronger. From sobbing uncontrollably into your clothes to being all smiles and radiating with joy the next just because you said something vaguely decent.

Aizetsu

The demotivation started to creep in the second you left. During the day, Aizetsu sits by the door, wanting to be the first one you properly greet. Sekido and Urogi usually bring you back and he'll be the one in your good graces without lifting a finger. That sounds nice.. 

But as the footsteps fade and the silence lingers, Aizetsu feels miserable the longer he waits... Hold on, silence?

Before he realizes what's happening, he's already dashing to where the familiar commotion is coming from. Dread sets in as his legs take him as fast as they can whilst being the slowest of the four. This doesn't feel like they're rushing over to you after a long day, it feels.. dangerous?

What did you get yourself into..? Why do you insist on going to places Aizetsu can't follow? Are you safe? He hates not knowing.

Usually you're the one who's fine. You deal with four demons almost daily! Please please please be okay. He can't fathom it if you were hurt. 

When he gets there, the puzzle pieces fall into place and Aizetsu gets even more depressed, but at least you're not hurt. Well, not if he interferes. His movements are sluggish, a perpetual frown plastered on his face as he tries holding Sekido down. 

Aizetsu wants to dissolve into the floor, and he does sometimes. Not wanting to fight Sekido off anymore, he slumps over. 

This could've been a regular day where you came home.. Are you serious? Leaving? How pitiful could you be to actually think you could get away? Or was it that you wanted to play some sick joke on them? Well, it's not very funny... It's terrible actually.

He's tired, annoyed, and so unbelievably upset. Aizetsu grimaced when Urogi got near your scratches with his tongue, so he “politely” ushered him away. 

Knowing a human's weak points is good in battle, but he started trying to learn how to heal them, specifically because he knew these types of things might happen.

As he cleans your scratches, he's actively scolding you for leaving in a cold emotionless tone. And by scolding, he's using manipulative language, trying to make you guilty for everything you did. 

He barely has the energy to live, but now that he finally found his light in the darkness, you want to leave? Is it so wrong he wants to hold onto what makes him even a smidgen happier than usual? He reminds you that he'll wither away without you, but he's not really too keen on dying just yet.

When he tries to get back into a routine, he just can't. He knows why you left, but he doesn't want to hear it. Even if you're sweet to him or not, he'll hold you from behind when you rest.

Looking at you is too much, but being away from you is even worse. Aizetsu compromises this way, but gets quieter, occasionally sniffling when he hides his face behind you.

There's too much going on and he's so tired.. If it weren't for the others, he probably would've held you so tight for so long so that you both would perish together.

Maybe that’s why he's only allowed to hold you when you're asleep. Just please don't do that again.. He NEEDS you. Please, please, please.

Safe to say you gave them a scare. When they double down on the protectiveness, living is ten times more difficult for EVERYBODY. when you lose their trust, it's pretty difficult to gain it back, but not impossible!!

Sekido and Urogi will always assume the worst if you're gone for too long while Karaku and Aizetsu give you a little more freedom until the others drag them along into their worries.

I made a few new wax seal stamps out of clay (like the ones I did for my worldbuilding stuff forever ago), this time just of random symbols that I thought might look good done in the style of painting over the raised part of the wax or etc. :0c Some of them aren't carved deep enough to really show up that well, but overall they worked okay for being clay lol

I'll also use this post to thank everyone who supported me and interacted with any of my works this year. And yes, even if it's just once! A lot of stressful things happened to me this year, but I'm still thankful for the year because I got to meet a whole lot of wonderful people who share the similar brainrots for OCs as me, whether ur a friend, mutual, follower, anon or any other user at all. I actually do like her official outfit! I just... had a deep need.... put that girl in a nightgown and slippers RIGHT NOW‼️‼️‼️‼️ Also it is admittedly so much easier to draw 🧍

I did try to keep in line with most of her official look though! Or add more emphasis to little details, like the red berries... other details I added, like the bloomers, keep the roundness of her og dress! BUT ALSO.... they are just so cutes.... I imagine they're made of rose petals...... I was also thinking angelic motifs. With the dress shape, and the smaller wings shaped as such!

ohh no my dear helena !!! its unfortunate that you’re having a rough day today :( remember that everything is temporary and that this day, like every other hard day before (and all following after), will pass in its own time.

i can absolutely spare some fluff ! that’s all i’ve got !

• javier goes to bed at about the same time that kieran is waking up every morning, right before dawn, and it’s a common occurrence that he will forget to untie his hair before laying down for bed, especially after a long night of guard duty. kieran will notice every time, and knows himself how easily long hair can get matted, so he will beckon javier over so that he can untie his bow. usually, he’ll also take the time to run his fingers through javier’s hair to detangle it as well, so that he’s even less likely to wake up to knots. javier adores it, teetering with the weight of his head and leaning hard into kieran’s legs on each side of his shoulders- sometimes kieran will even indulge himself in giving javier a head massage. javier never sleeps better, and coincidentally, he began forgetting to take his hair down a lot more after moving out to clemen’s point ….

• javier snuck kieran his first bowl of pearson’s stew after ‘making a social call’. john kicked kieran off his horse at the entrance of camp and javier watched as the latter dredged himself through the brush to what would become his usual resting place behind the rock by the horses. he looked miserable, dead on his feet, and javier knew by then he’d been weeks without a meal. he was a dirty, disloyal, unholy traitor of an o’driscoll, but something about his sunken eyes, the shake in his hand as he lit his first cigarette as a free man again- likely to quell off the hunger- it urged javier to act in a way that he’d never felt before. javier could kill a man in cold blood easier than he could stand to watch fear starve a man even after his hands are free to reach for the bowl. the study for learned helplessness in psychology will come years later, but javier understands himself now through watching kieran’s instinctual desire to survive be beat out of him by the gang javier dedicates his life to. with a healthy amount of spite to himself, he scoops a heaping amount of fresh stew into the cleanest bowl he can find, and sets out to add a fresh layer of flesh to kieran’s prominent bones.

• following this, cooking for kieran is one of javier’s favourite things to do when they get together. javier will cook for him traditional mexican dishes from home (as best he can. both with his limited skills and also with his limited accessibility to the proper ingredients. (probably for the best that he can’t get authentic chili peppers from home and has to use a less spicy chili native to this northern climate. kieran does okay with spice but it isn’t in his genetics to truly have a high tolerance.)) and not only will it be an unknown love language from javier, to feed kieran and make sure he is full, but it will also be a love language from kieran, to let javi share a piece of home with him.

• ^ also applies to modern au javieran ! javier loves cooking, and especially for kieran. they would cook together, but kieran struggles to cook with other people in the room, and javier gets so absorbed in it that he’d likely be running into kieran or otherwise being unhelpful in aiding in making sure the dish is being cooked correctly because he’s too Locked In to guide kieran LOL but they’re more happy to simply keep each other company, anyway. kieran on the counter/table/floor, watching javier sing and dance to the music he’s blasting from their speaker. cue dancing in the kitchen when the love songs come on (here’s a good one (rip javier escuella you would have loved dannylux)). the parallel play and quality time with these two is off the charts

• come mid/late clemens point, the way javieran make most of their money for the camp is by going on days-long fishing dates, laughing and laying close to one another in the grass under a tree on the riverbank in the shroud of darkness. they come back to camp flushed as all get out but with stacks of cash in their hands wadded up so thick no one dares to ask where it came from. kieran will get excited at even the smallest of fish, perking up and sharing/asking javier for tidbits on the species. they never miss a bite, either. one time one of the bells on their bobber rods rang once and they both broke out of a very hot and heavy make-out sesh so fast that javier tripped on kieran and nearly broke both of their wrists. they laughed so hard about it, javier was certain that by the time he arrived to his rod, the fish had already successfully ripped the bait off of his hook. he reeled in a boot, at the end of it all. he never lives it down.

• kieran is ambidextrous, and javier is fascinated by it. javier stumbled upon kieran writing on one rare occasion, and noticed immediately that he was writing with his left. “left handed, huh ?” kieran cocks his head at him in thought. javier wonders why on earth he would have to stop and think about a question like that. “uhh, not really ?” well, now javier is simply confused. “right, then ? is something wrong with your dominant hand ?” “um … no, that’s not it either …” and at this point, javier is demanding kieran explain what the hell he’s talking about, and why he’s pulling a prank on him. cue kieran explaining and javier making him do all kinds of silly “tests” like writing, shooting, playing guitar (as if kieran is going to any better with either when neither of them can do it right to begin with) because he finds it so cool.

• modern au kieran gets overstimulated incredibly easily, so he’s got a pair of noise canceling over-ear headphones that he often wears to dampen sensory input and ground himself when there’s a lot going on. when it’s cleaning day, generally no matter what he’s doing, he HAS to wear his headphones. javier is left to dodge him the same way he has to dodge the cats when they’re weaving in and out of between his feet. it also leaves him to dance to his own tunes when kieran suddenly swoops or sways or dips him to the music only he can hear- though just as often, javier will catch kieran dancing by himself and he will simply be unable not to join him, even though he can’t hear what it is he’s dancing to. as overwhelming as they can be, cleaning days for javieran somehow always end up feeling more like a date than anything.

• on a similar note, kieran also wears his headphones to bed, and listens to asmr/white noise to sleep. the pressure helps him feel safe, and the silence of a room makes him anxious. he also has a terrible bedhead and rbf in the morning. both of these things javier finds incredibly charming, and if he ever does wake up when/before kieran does (incredibly rare), this is his pov (right before he tries to kiss kieran’s face off and gets shoved away with a sleepy giggle that only bolsters his aggression);
