nct 127 is releasing a graphic novel titled "nct 127: limitless" slated for release late summer 2023! pre-orders for all the different editions (standard, deluxe, and member specific) are open on z2 comics with a number of different bundles to choose from.
summary taken from their website:
Presented in the manhwa (South Korean comic) format, Limitless follows NCT 127 in the midst of their world tour, as the group rehearses for its biggest performance in America to date: a sold-out stadium show in New York City. The night before the concert, however, the group encounters mysterious dreams, putting MARK, JOHNNY, TAEYONG, JUNGWOO, and DOYOUNG in otherworldly scenarios. This ultimately creates a reality-crossing mystery that the five—alongside TAEIL, YUTA, JAEHYUN, and HAECHAN—will unite to solve. As NCT 127 grapples with this enigma, they must overcome their fear in both the real world and this new, surreal dreamscape.
a very dear friend of mine is one of the artists for this project! it would mean the absolute world to me if you boosted this to spread the news, hehe. <3

Every time YouTube nonsense happens I'm always like "I can't wait to see what Sergle says about this" because you're the only person I follow that talks about YouTube nonsense.
Please take this is an invitation for you to talk about the Watcher's apology video lol
I am a filthy youtube enjoyer so you can absolutely count on me and GODDDDDDDDDDD... I mean the apology is not NEARLY as funny as the blunder, so it hasn't kept my attention as much but like the obligatory upfront thing is that, like, it is good that they posted it, they apologized for being insensitive and whatever, they're not scraping their channel clean or going forward with their old plan to only post their shows on their own platform, and these are technically good and correct things, because they could have pretended not to notice all the negative feedback. So like, responding is good. BUT LIKE I HAVE QUESTIONS NOW... Because they took SO LONG to film and upload a video that basically is just "we fucked up, we're sorry, we're not gonna do that anymore", which doesn't exactly take a writer's room several days to cook, but I DIGRESS... They were quiet for long enough for everyone to LOOK REALLY CLOSE. After the initial reaction, people had time to do some pretty comprehensive cost breakdowns for their stuff, and for what they have to be pulling in from adsense, sponsored segments, patreon, merch, and touring Like, they'd need to be really mismanaging their finances, because they're doing very well for themselves, making good, stable money, and the vids they make are super duper advertiser friendly. SO... you take long enough without putting out a holder statement or a quick heel-turn apology or anything, it gives people more time to get comfortable with not liking you, and also to dig around and google things about you, or scrape up info/trivia about you to corroborate their new opinion of you. It gets personal, is what I mean. So pulling this move has still, at BEST, caused some permanent damage to their relationships with fans, in both directions. They all got a huge flood of negative feedback, and even a perfect, emotionally mature, non-entitled person would have a negative reaction to people being upset with them at such a high volume. But now they're gonna remember the things that people have said about them, and there's no way that at the very least, Steven isn't gonna feel spiteful about this. People TOTALLY unloaded on him (funny) (valid) about his evangelical christian conservative leaning tesla privileged out of touch boy gold flaked ice cream eating ways. He definitely is going to remember that ppl said they never liked him in the first place. As for Ryan and Shane, people didn't have any dirt on them, but they definitely still received a lot of angry messages from people, most of which will have been reasonable, but they're gonna remember the really really mean and intense ones. Anyway, they made a booboo dumb enough for jack to want to make a skit about it, so for that I'm very grateful, because I thought it was really really fucking funny

HC that although Lightning is *technically* a multi-millionare, most of the time, he's broke asf – especially in the early days of his career. While he definitely receives a hefty paycheck from prize money, sponsors, and advertising, most of it goes directly back into racing – the engineering, the equipment, maintaining the car, etc etc. Just fixing up the 95 after one race alone can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
So while Lightning is on the glossy cover of 'Forbes list of youngest millionares,' he is still struggling to repay the $16 on his credit card for some tacos and iced coffee he bought 2 weeks ago.
On the other hand, Doc is absolutely LOADED. Lightning didn't expect it, but it makes sense when he thinks about it. He's been a doctor and a lawyer most of his life. He's been making BANK while having little to no expenses and he's been saving up for essentially 50 years with nothing to spend it on. Throw some of that money into a few investments, sit on it for 50 years, and boom – Doc is essentially the wealthiest person within a 100 mile radius. And that's not even considering the hefty pension he would receive as a retired judge, the fact that he is probably the only doctor with a clinic in the whole region, and his crew chief salary.
Doc learns about Lightning's... umm... impecuniosity when he is stuck with him on a shopping spree in LA after a race. The kid is trying to buy a simple pair of shoes for a sponsor event that evening. His card declines and Doc watches him rummage through his wallet and fumble with his credit cards in front of the exhausted cashier before stepping in to save him the embarrassment.
––––––––––––
Cashier: that will be $149.99.
Lightning: uhhhh ok i got *checks pockets* 5 bucks. wait– i have my card though, just gimme a minute i need to transfer some money and i'll just–***DECLINED FOR INSUFFICIENT FUNDS*** oh haha wrong card. sorry, lemme just–
Doc: *sigh* ... move out of the way.
––––––––––––
Lightning: i'll pay you back next week, i swear.
Doc: i know you won't.
Lightning: ...
Doc: it's fine.
––––––––––––
This ends up turning into a pattern, but Doc’s fine with that. He knows he has more money than he can spend in this lifetime and he’d rather spend it on the kid and the town than have it go to his estate after he dies or god forbid – pay more tax.
What Lightning doesn’t expect is to receive a customised red Corvette for his birthday one year. He doesn’t even want to imagine how much it’s worth.
––––––––––––
Lightning: what idiot parked their car in our driveway?
Doc: it’s for you.
Lightning: ME?
Doc: the keys are on the table.
Lighting: but how did you–
Doc: at least you’ll stop begging to use the Hornet now.
––––––––––––
Lightning: where on Earth did you get all this money by the way?
Doc: that’s classified.
Lightning: huh?
Doc: don't worry about it.

I think it's time I posted our business plan on here. But first I want to say that my LLC is Rancher Toads
Warner Brothers owns the Red vs Blue IP which is a big hurdle, but someone bigger than them owns HALO. Microsoft and Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries). I bet Halo Studios is looking for a HALO show that works. Red vs Blue can be that show. It has over a decade of success, started a new form of animation, is an established IP, and has a massive fan base wanting more. But first we need to open a path with Microsoft and Halo Studios. However, we will not rely on Microsoft to be more than a sponsor and partner. Having a bigger parent company owning our smaller studio is too risky. My plan is:
Depending on how much Warner Media will be selling the rights for, we may need Microsoft to help get the rights back from Warner Media, which will cost them a pretty penny. But it will be a wise investment as they will get product placement, a percentage of profit, free advertisement for HALO, a successful HALO based show, and a good PR campaign about supporting creatives. Another financial bonus for them may be that when big companies take on some debt, it helps them pay even less in taxes. Which will save them money.
Meanwhile, to pay for operation costs and possibly even getting the rights back, we will do a Kickstarter. Death Battle got funded within a day of their campaign. They set their goal as $75,000 (USD), and by the end of it they made $740,000 (USD)! I have no doubt that Red vs Blue can reach its goal and continue operations. Reward items and future merchandise is a strong suit for my company, Rancher Toads.
Rancher Toads was originally founded when things regarding Rooster Teeth and making animated shows started to change. We want to make the animations that we originally would have pitched to Rooster Teeth. But- Animation is a labor intensive art form, and expensive. This is why we call our business model a reverse hasbro- We sell toys to make animation. (They infamously are known for “Make animation to sell toys”.) Our in house merch includes:
Mod Mods
Short for “Modification Models”, these figurines are posable, interchangeable, and extremely customizable. We want to do Red vs Blue and Halo batches, while providing custom Halo armor options so fans can make their own personal armor. Then with the interchangeable aspect, fans can also make their face claims of who is under the helmet.
Sewed’s Boutique
Sewed’s Boutique is more for fabric based fashion, such as bags, cosplay parts, and the like. A few concepts we have worked on that combine Red vs Blue and Sewed’s Boutique include: An Agent Washington helmet purse that is a 2D front facing image of Wash’s helmet. A Kaikaina “Sister” Grif Cheerleader bag. A Felix helmet purse that is a 2D front facing image of his helmet.
Corrode’s Armory
Corrode’s Armory is an offshoot of Sewed’s Boutique, where we sell more armor and weapon based merchandise. We would love to produce an official HALO armor line. Reasonably, it will start with HALO helmets. The plan is to have them made from two (2) sturdy, yet thin, resin molds. One for the helmet, and one for the visor.
I bring up using resin as I plan to use high quality alternatives to plastic when it comes to armor and figurines. Ridding plastic in all fabrics will be an uphill battle later to come.
Merchandise is not the only thing we want to be involved in when it comes to hopefully continuing Red vs Blue. We want to be involved in the writing. We see Red vs Blue having a canon map that looks like a subway map, or the Hyrule timeline. Our contribution to this messy, but organized, canon map is what we like to call- Red vs Blue ReBooted.
This will take place after Wash was shot, and instead of going on an adventure, the Reds, Blues, and Carolina stay beside Wash as he recovers on Chorus. In a way, it echoes the ending of Season 17, while leaving the canon of Seasons 16 and 17 in the air. We have much more planned out but legally, this proposal will not cover the majority of storyline ideas. But we will say we do have plans for both Meta Tucker and Zero to have proper stories.
We also want Miles Luna to have his chance to make a Mercs spin off series. While Luna has adopted an idea for Felix and Siris from one of our members, we want/plan Miles Luna to have majority creative control on his series.
Shisno Tales, a Red vs Blue anthology. This would be a perfect spot for officially making the Red vs Blue plays Among Us episode. We and our Amphibian Allies have a lot of episode ideas written down and even completed scripts. Shisno Tales will include different animators and forms of animation.
Project Freelancer Remembered. A spin off of seeing Project Freelancer’s early days and how close the Freelancers were before the mind games started.
Blue vs Pink is my own little talking in a box canyon idea. I plan to keep it in Shisno Tales. As there are a lot of show ideas being pitched here. It deals more with gender and sexuality. As Pink Team represents femininity, and Blue Team represents masculinity.
Locus Redemption. A space western. Not in the way that Firefly was, but Locus traveling around the universe trying to make things right after Chorus. A show the reds and blues will make cameos in. I see this as a true M rated show. One thing I want to put in this show is to highlight even more corruption of the UNSC. Specifically, where Locus is out in little known Outposts, that the UNSC is dead serious about occupying, even with great harm to the people originally there.
Circling back to the Mod Mods, the dream is to have these customizable figurines be building blocks for Mod Mod Media. Which would include a life simulator game, a more contained scenario game, and animated crossovers. We imagine most of the crossovers would be like Cartoon Network City bumpers from the 2000’s. But we dream even bigger to make Mod Mod Movies. Especially a Red vs Blue & RWBY crossover, as there should be one. But also to show while owned by different companies, they will always be sister shows. Then of course ones with our own original IPs, I see these as a love letter.
Nothing Rancher Toads plans to do is a cash grab. Bringing back IPs and expanding them is an act of creative love. We are not ready for goodbye, and neither should the creatives who put so much love into it. So please, take us seriously and let us work together. Thank you.

On the topic of not accepting a gift of ad-free subscription.
I'm honestly confused by the take that you wouldn't be willing to accept a gift sub for Tumblr. I totally understand the frustration with the advertisements that don't respect block lists (especially when it's due to a medical issue like the flashing lights), but I do not understand the distaste for purchasing a skip on the ads.
Tumblr as a platform is free but does have costs associated with its operation. It would be awesome if it could be free and not have ads, but unfortunately server space and bandwidth cost money.
Why not subscribe (or in this case accept the gift) if it 1) improves your experience, and 2) supports the site in a way that doesn't require them to bow to advertisers.
I see the same sort of thing with YouTube. Instead of encouraging premium people use adblockers and force creators to curb their content to match the algorithm and advertisers wants (sponsored videos, unnecessary censoring, etc). It confuses me to no end.
And I also get it that some people can't justify the cost. But in this case that isn't a concern as someone could have given you that without cost to yourself.
So I'm genuinely curious as to the why, especially when you've made heavy use of the platform already (and it's appreciated, I've really enjoyed seeing your posts on different media!).
i dont have to justify my personal choices on this. i dont want people to give money to tumblr to fix a problem that shouldnt have been one in the first place. but since im already here, im gonna do it anyway
my problem isnt with advertisements as a whole, i know websites need them to stay afloat, i dont need to be told all about this since ive seen the odds and ends of this field since my teenage years. BUT it doesnt make it okay to put the safety of a very very large part of the population behind a paywall. they could spam me with 100 static ads and i wouldnt bat an eye, but they use very aggressive flashing advertisements that are NOT necessary. at all. there is no excuse for that. its a literal health hazard, and for what? for people to be hospitalized (or in worst case scenario, but a very real one, die from a seizure) because tumblr needs to make a profit?
second of all, youtube and tumblr are not comparable in this sense. the money from these tumblr advertisements dont go to any creators. if anything, theyre personally profiting off the vast culture and inside jokes that the community has built over the past 15 years, and in return the community gets. nothing. more shitty features that pose a risk to people, like the recent kokobot advertisements, while the company itself is deep in allegations regarding the ethics of their practices, or the very severe privacy risk of tumblr live, and so on. if it can be avoided, i would rather not give these clowns a single dime, to be brutally honest

Can someone explain the paparazzi/publishing industry & why That One's car park photos get published by u/Next_Homework3662
Can someone explain the paparazzi/publishing industry & why That One's car park photos get published I can't quite get my head around why That One organises her car park photo shoots. I need some nuanced explanation from someone in the know who understands the intricacies of paparazzi and publishing. We all know (i.e. sinners) straight away that photos with BackGrid in the corner are photos that That One has organised and paid for herself.Unfortunately, the average person isn't aware of this detail, and probably truly believes the photos were "captured" by a pap. The photos get published online around the world by various outlets, and it gets promulgated as "news". But why? That One obviously sets up the photos knowing that they will be published. But which news sources is she specifically hoping will pick them up? Or doesn't it matter? Any news (PR) in her mind is good PR.For example, the Australian 'news' website [news.com.au] (a Murdoch site), duly put out an article with the BackGrid photos, and accompanying drivel implying that the photos were "real" and That One was just "captured" going about her day amidst the mayhem of the "racism row".Why? Are the papers required to publish them because they're Murdoch-owned? Why do they feel compelled to publish the photos and make up a story? Do they do it as it sells advertising space for their sponsors - as she's always going to be controversial?Further, does That One get paid if her photos are published? By whom? Or does the cost of hiring a BackGrid photographer outweigh the benefits, but she doesn't care? post link: https://ift.tt/J8GFEOr author: Next_Homework3662 submitted: December 06, 2023 at 08:16PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit

(Twitchtracker anon back again)
Im not really super interested in finances or statistics as a job lol, im just a nerd who likes to dig through analytics sometimes. Pretty much my whole essay length ask was made by taking twitchtracker numbers and putting them into a spreadsheet (So i didnt have to do averages manually), with some manual counting by hand for things like the number of streams.
(Also something i realized i missed when i reread my ask, the count of minecraft streams actually starts on the first day of qsmp, not the first day of march 2023 like everything else. Not super important but i wanted to make that one thing clear.)
Yeah i definitely agree that quackity's money doesnt necessarily equal qstudios money. However i also don't think a lot of the people who try and use the idea that "Quackity couldnt afford to pay that many employees" think about things like that, they most likely see quackity as the face and sole person behind his company (it is named after him after all), because you don't ever see them saying "Quackity studios cant afford to pay that many employees".
I do think that it's possible that for quite a while quackity's streams and videos were seemingly the only income stream for the company, with qsmp merch sales only really starting to be available and pushed more recently, and as far as i remember i don't think any qsmp events had sponsors or advertisers involved (I could be wrong here though, im not sure as I don't keep up with all the streams). Again im not personally a quackity viewer myself, so im not sure if he had any personal (quackity branded) merch sales outside qsmp before the start (early 2023, i know he had some back during dsmp but that's a while ago now) or during the qsmp. But from what i understand, he seemingly was doing a lot of the funding of the qsmp on his own.
Of course i don't think all his money was being directly funnelled to qstudios/qsmp, he still needs to pay for housing and utilities and food like the rest of us, as well as his travel to conventions/to meet friends (not saying he shouldn't travel, networking is an important part of any job). But i personally do believe he was basically the sole entity funding qstudios otherwise, unless there's some other income source we aren't aware of.
In regards to twitch monetization, the majority of streamers have a 50/50 split with twitch. Some bigger streamers having a 70/30 split, following the changes in late 2022 this split only applied to the first $100k earned, with everything after that going to 50/50, with that cap then being removed january 24th 2024. There's some stuff with the partner plus program that I honestly don't really understand because again, im not a streamer myself. I have no idea what split quackity has, though he is a partner. (Streamer/twitch for all split numbers btw.)
For how the payouts work, Via Twitch Affiliate Program FAQ: "As explained in the Monetized Streamer Agreement, there are certain costs, taxes, and fees that must be accounted for before you receive subscription revenue. Before the 50/50 split between you and Twitch takes place, deductions are made from the full price of a subscription, including taxes, payment processing fees, bank fees, currency conversion fees, etc. After the split takes place, we still account for required tax withholding, which is reflected in the payout you ultimately see on your dashboard. Twitch does not set or control the rates or fees, and they vary from region to region and by each subscriber’s payment method." Presumably this also applies to the partner program and the other splits.
Subs themselves are $5.99 USD, with other (usually lower when converted to USD) prices depending on the region of the subscriber. There's also ad revenue but I have no idea if quackity runs that many ads (or even runs them at all) seeing as his streams are usually 1.5-3 hours long (with the ads incentive program theres a 55/45 split of ad rev for a minimum of 3 minutes of ads per hour of stream, 30/70 otherwise), and again, not a viewer myself (I barely even watch streams live for streamers i do watch). And there's also bits, but those are a whole mess themselves so im not going to get into it.
I don't really know much about business running at all so of course everything is speculation based on the little i do know, and most of my twitch revenue info is directly from their help site, with some of the stuff about changes being from news articles about them.
Yeah that's pretty much it from me for now, glad you enjoyed my nerdy trawl through twitchtracker :)!

Scarleteen is Turning 25! Can You Help Me Keep Us Going Into 2024 and Beyond?
It’s Scarleteen’s 25th! That's a helluva thing for a scrappy little independent, grassroots, queer, feminist, sex education resource: a quarter-century of providing progressive, inclusive sexuality and relationships education, information and support, and resources to tens of millions of young people all over the world.
If you know me at all, you know that my work at Scarleteen is deeply, deeply important to me, and that this year I was honored to become on of the three co-directors!
We're in a particularly rough spot this year, despite working our butts off both doing all of the very valuable work for young people we do at Scarleteen, and trying to raise and secure enough funding to keep on doing it all. To get through 2024 and into the years beyond, we currently need around 750 new monthly recurring donors* (or the financial equivalent).
We're looking for people to host personal fundraisers just like this one to help us reach that goal. I've set a modest one; $100= 10 people signing up for $10 a month or more recurring donations.
Here's how you can help me to do that:
You can take part in my personal fundraiser and, if you're not already, become a recurring donor today.
You can also host your own fundraiser just like this via this link: https://www.classy.org/campaign/support-scarleteen-on-our-25th-birthday/c546792 (this is a great option if you're one of the folks who already has a recurring donation and things others should too)
You can share this on your social media.
You can do all of the above!
Curious about why we're looking for 750 donors?
750 new recurring donors at an average monthly amount of $10 for at least a year will allow us to fill a current funding deficit that we must resolve before summer of 2024 to keep doing all the things we do and give us some momentum towards meeting more than just our minimum needs.
In the 25 years we’ve existed for, we’re served close to 90,000,000 people. And our work is more essential now than ever. We’ve been experiencing a growing wave of legislation designed to cut young people off from vital and wanted information, support and community, especially young queer and trans people. In the last several years, we’ve also seen many sources of independent, feminist and queer, media shutter or give up their independence, some at the cost of their ingenuity or integrity.
Scarleteen is and has always been fully independent, feminist, queer media. We don’t de-fang our content in order to appeal to advertisers or other sponsors. The kind of sex ed we offer – unapologetically queer, pro-abortion, feminist, justice-minded and pleasure-forward – means that what paltry government funding there is for comprehensive sex education wouldn’t be within our reach without us…well, not being us. And it’s precisely who we are and how we do sex ed that served all the people we have over the years so well.
We center young people in our work, and believe they’re entitled to the kind of education and support they can access through our site and services for free. But even if we didn't, most of them don't have the ability to pitch in financially anyway. We need your help so we can keep helping them.
If we were there for you when you or your kids were younger; if you use us in your classroom, your health curriculum, your counseling or healthcare office; if you refer young people to us; if you return to our content time and again to share on your social media, to pass onto friends, or as a resource for your own research or writing; if our work helps you, even though you’re not a teenager or young adult anymore? I hope that if you're at all able, you'll become a recurring donor today.
Thank you! As always, if you can help keep us not just open, but growing, adapting, creating and serving for many years to come, I appreciate you to the max!
* At an average monthly donation of $10 run for at least a year.

Youtube's insane war with Adblock
Anti Adblock has been the bane of any casual website viewing experience and any website I visits that had those banners is typically written off entirely, and now Youtube is one of them but they take it to a whole nother level. Apparently on the Ublock reddit. They have to routinely change up how they block the banner every couple of days and by extension, you will have to update your ublock every couple of days for it to work and may have to only use Ublock because it can conflict with other blockers.
How did we get here? Oh right, every multi million dollar corporation keeping the lights on with advertisements. Advertisements so bad the our governments actually consider it a good idea to have ad block on because advertisements are a hotbed for malware to speak nothing of deepfakes or outright scam ads that the FTC considers too small a problem to get rid of.
I mean ever since Ross from the game dungeon released his video where he said that Games as a Service are Scams I've been workshopping basically the same sentiment for advertisements.
Companies sell ad space with no expectation that customers will click on the ads, only that for all intents and purposes, they presented the ads to you and are thus owed money for providing that service.
Advertisers dump tens of thousands of dollars just so the advertisement can be clicked on with the possible chance of making a sale as that's the only way to actually get a return on the investment of the advertisement in the first place.
After all a really great product doesn't even need an advertising budget per se. Word of mouth is so powerful, hell, a 7-10 review of a product from a random youtuber generates more attention and sales than a million dollar super bowl advertisement. As long as you get the right Youtuber it's way more cost effective to not have traditional ad spaces.
Not that sponsors are free from guilt. Sponsors are often scams as well. There's been more than a couple sponsored products that were scams but unlike Youtube/Google which can sell ad space to con artists and never suffer an issue, one video from Scott Schafer can convince the youtube community to effectively deplatform a bad product or service.
I mean Raid Shadow Legends still falls through the cracks but it's better than nothing.
But I've been preparing for this, actually a few people have. Louis Rossman has been working on some Manhattan project called Grayjay that will bring multi platform streaming all under one app.
There are of course other streaming platforms with different, more affordable hosting methods as well as ways to monetize content that hopes to not make the same mistakes Youtube makes with budgeting.
There's my method which is downloading every video you think you'll ever want to watch more than once, putting it on a single hard drive and then using some server hosting service like Plex and you just stream your own content to yourself (which by the way is really affordable to do as long as you are okay with 1080p to 360p as higher resolutions on very long videos like streams will soak up a lot of space for what is just one video).
A third method is installing Linux on a machine and gain access to some linux exclusive apps like Freetube which removes the bad aspects of Youtube and only has the videos as well as sponsorblock with no ads to boot (you won't be able to block content though and there's no algorithm so you better know what you want to find because you are on your own for real).
The last method is Vanced. It was supposed to be dead but like a building that's closed 11 months in a year, it sprung to life one day and now lives although you will have to have a android device and learn the side loading method to get it really working.
I've been saying this about Youtube and Twitter X for awhile now but you really should consider a future where Youtube doesn't exist, companies are tightening their budgets across the board, once the advertising firm gets slashed basically everything dependent on it will evaporate. Not enough people will ever use Youtube Red to keep the lights on for Youtube as Youtube's budget is constantly scaling and impossible to price in.
The lost media Youtube will create when it shudders is beyond your comprehension.

How do I become an Amazon seller?
Here are the exact steps to become a seller on Amazon:
Research and Choose Your Product: Conduct thorough market research to identify a profitable product niche. Consider factors like demand, competition, and profit margins. Once you've selected your product, source it from reliable suppliers.
Legal and Tax Obligations: Register your business entity and obtain any necessary licenses or permits required to operate in your region. Determine your tax obligations as a seller, and ensure you comply with all relevant tax laws.
Create an Amazon Seller Account: Go to Amazon's Seller Central website (Welcome to Amazon Seller Central) and click on "Register Now." Choose between a Professional Seller Account (for high-volume sellers) or an Individual Seller Account (for lower-volume sellers). I can not tell if some of these bots are bots. By combining random words they are perfectly emulating tumblr users. The only thing that I'm clinging on to is how averse the average tumblr is to having their face next to their posts. But some of these bots are starting to use pictures of ppl out doing things/ messing around and I'm like... this could be a person. Is this them or is it a meme. Their face isn't in it. It's not centred on their body. This could be a person. Especially as twitter continues to slowly sink like a very slowly burning very very large construction in the sea.
It's like one of those big abandoned rigs/sea stations where years after its been left some ppl come across it and move in like 'we can repurpose this' and next thing you know they are living there like 'we are a country now' and things seem to be thriving and they appear to have a functioning society and its like 'have these ppl escaped capitalism' and then one day there's some kind of disaster and loads of ppl abandon it and come back to regular society and they are all like telling stories about how it was.
And then as time goes on every now and again another person gives up and abandons ship, and comes back to land living society with a even crazier story about what's been going down since the last person left. And time goes on and eventually it's like largely abandoned. The ppl still living there are either very loyal or remain thanks to sunk cost. And its pretty well understood that by this point the guy in charge is a dictator and its all a bit culty and there's no real reason to stay. Its just living amongst like empty rusting offices (cause there aren't enough ppl left to keep it running like a society/improving so it's just like an abandoned weather station in the middle of the sea again and the weather's always shit cause its the middle of the sea. The dream is dead, they are just only realising one at a time.
And then one day someone's boat goes past and the place is on fire and everyone's like hey are you guys OK? And tries to evacuate them. But they are all like 'our leader says its fine. Its cool we don't need rescuing. Like you could rescue us. Life on land is shit. Enjoy capitalism losers!' And everyone's a bit like uncomfortable about leaving them there, but it's like. What can you do. They are just like 'the fire keeps to its side of the station we keep to ours, its np.'
But everyone decides to keep an eye on things all the same. Reporting on things out of morbid curiosity and a little bit like 'you can still get out. We're here.' And then one day the place (still on fire) starts to sink in to the sea and you really think they'll jump ship now. What's left? But they are still clinging on to this dream of what it could have been. And the place is like burning but also littered with advertisements cause the cult leader is letting just about anyone sponsor them, and it is a burning wreck sinking in to the sea, but also its on the news 24/7 so there are always ppl willing to stick their logo on it
Anyway, I've got completely carried away with my metaphor here. But twitters like that. And as ppl slowly abandon ship and are like 'I guess we'll return to the shitty lives we thought we'd escaped' they bring a bit of 'comune that's also a country on a rig in the middle of the sea' culture with them. And so there are now more ppl on tumblr doing twitter things like having attractively posed pictures as their icon

I Have A Lot of Feelings about this because I:
Write, cartoon, make stuff, etc.
Used to own a small design firm that closed its doors when social media began gearing up (the crew took the clients that they worked on and they all made a small fortune, there were no layoffs)
Do the social media for the things I write / cartoon / make stuff
Now that introductions are out of the way, I hope I've provided evidence to my qualifications enough to be believed.
We are exiting the Influencer Era and I fear we are entering (deeper, to be clear) a Faux Influencer Corporate Sponsored Era.
I hope we get to the point where we enter a Small Marketing Era.
(notes under cut, this is long)
When the web was new and fresh it was fairly easy to get your name out there. You keyword stuffed and got things into search engines because everything was basic.
Search engines started realizing "Hm, no" and got smarter and so "link lists" and "web rings" and similar started exploding.
These were fantastic if you could get discovered by the cool kids and sit at their table. It wasn't perfect (by any stretch) but it set the groundwork for Small Banner Advertising.
You would have popular websites that had the indie equivalent of Google Adwords. The websites made money and so kept going, small shops etc. could say "Here is literally $10. Run my banner on your site occasionally for a month."
Because the cost was so low, the reach available was immense. The early days of my design firm we were doing ad campaigns for tiny websites with a few Photoshop banners and $200.
It was relatively easy to earn back $200 + our fees in revenue for the client, and things moved along really nicely.
Tumblr media
At first social media WAS GREAT.
Because they were all flush with cash investor cash -- money was REALLY REALLY cheap to borrow, investors were throwing money at the wall to see what would stick.
The algorithms dashboards etc. that control how far a creator and/or a creator team can reach: none of that is new. None of it. It's not new tech. It's not groundbreaking tech.
There was never a sudden "ah ha, we finally figured out how to moment."
There has been a gradual "Oh. Money isn't cheap anymore. Our investors want to cash out" up-tick.
During the pre-"oh we gotta make money?" era you had creators creating things and being charming or weird or whatever and building massive audiences because the point of the network was to get people to use it.
"Join Twitter. Join Facebook. Join Tumblr and you can follow, you can see... etc."
At this point you have the rise of influencers. People who had natural comedic timing or had basic film editing skills or writing skills (etc.) building up giant audiences.
You have someone with an audience comparable to a television ad
Who would work for extremely little money
With better demographic data than any television ad network would provide you
Who would probably make the ad themselves saving you another giant sack of cash
Oh, and the ad isn't clock-sensitive. Meaning, you're not buying an ad at 6:13 on Thursday evening, you're buying it whenever Influencer Makes the Ad.
For a split second before the mechanisms of Of Course It Happened That Way we had the opportunity to have an internet where people who make things could say "hey, you need shoes? I like these shoes for Reasons" and people who were in the shoe market could say "Neat. I'll check out Shoe Co."
So.
Where are we now?
It is getting increasingly hard to build an audience and so you're left with two categories emerging:
People who already have a large audience.
People with money. Or people with companies behind them that pay them money (this is the faux influencer I am referring to).
This comes in the flavor of:
"Hey guys, here is a YouTube ad, or increasingly a television ad, where I pretend you're a fan of my channel, to talk to you about anti-whatever-pro-whatever cream-whatever."
and outright:
"This channel is bought and paid for by XYZ brand and that is quietly, if at all, disclaimed."
Tumblr media
Where do we go from here?
Like a lot of things in life, the Old Ways of Doing Things are still there. They won't work as they did in the Old Days, they have to be modified, but they still exist.
If you make things, make a mailing list -- email and physical.
Social media is free but the reach is diminishing
Email lists are cheap to send to but the reach is going to shift, there is a lot of turnover
Postcards cost money but are cheap
Digital advertising fits somewhere in the middle of "cheap and expensive" and "wasteful and useful"
Explore them all.
Balance them all.
And for the audience:
When I say "a few dollars, extremely occasionally, to your favorite comic artist, writer, or whatever can help them keep going" I mean a literal few dollars.
Like, $2.
Once or twice a year.
To one or two creators you like in whatever capacity they make things.
Back to creators for a moment:
If you take that $2-5 per audience member per year and invest it into basic marketing -- not content, not other bills, pure reinvesting into keeping your channel afloat -- you can go a long way in surviving.
Tumblr media
The good news is the path to becoming a author is broader now than at any other point in the entirety of human history.
The bad news is business still exists and it's fucking hard. It will probably always be hard because easy fruit is eaten immediately by people with full bellies already.
I do wish authors could just be authors and not be their own marketing team and/or get help from a marketing team.
That would be great.
There was a brief window when that was possible.
It came about because of a very explicit set of unrenewable circumstances.
The good, but difficult, news is "being an influencer" is not your only path to success.
I wish you luck in whatever you do.
Tumblr media
woop there it is

One thing I'll give commercials from my time period is they made shows feel longer.
The entire Naruto arc when they go in the woods and later have a tournament felt like the longest movie I had to watch in chunks as a small child. Watch it today and it's rather short in comparison with less happening.
I wonder if my mind filled in blanks by going "certainly more happened that I can't remember" and I think the answer was commercials.
I remember counting the amount there was go from 9 to 12. By the time I was 9, I stopped watching TV entirely, not even streaming services, at most piracy of anime. These days that's the norm, but I assure you even as a kid, ads were frustrating enough I went to a different source without them, and when they poorly implemented ads, I was basically forced to use adblock.
All this to say, we got better content these days solely due to the formatting being far more pro-art than before. Watching Bleach of old and the netflix series is kinda insane, they really had to stretch using that format and it was not for the better imo. This isn't a "new is always better" just a "pro-artist formats makes better products for consumers."
Yes I know how anime production works and making time berween chapters. That's not the point. Art was not tied to advertising in any true degree for online content for an incredibly long time.
These days, the reason people get upset with sponsors and the ever growing number of intrusive and general ads, is because it's witnessing content suffer for the sake of advertising again. I sincerely don't get why these companies don't understand their methods are worse for the wor- they know, point is that they could spend a quarter or less than they are now for the same outcome. Sure we all know that raid legend game, but really, at what cost to us the consumer? To the artist's work and credibility?
Sponsors and advertisements are fine, make money bro let's go, but it's when it tramp stamps your work and I need Another extension for sponsorblocking, that's when I start feeling like I did nearly 2 decades now, rather frustrated with the format.
The difference is that I can find creators that don't have tramp stamps. So, we're still in the green, but I worry how long we'll be allowed to enjoy this format at this rate.
This isn't a hate piece for anything. Not a plea for change. Just an acknowledgement of changing times.
If ya ask me we as average people and average artists are losing ground daily, and not coming together is killing us, it really needs to stop being a fad/trend, a "we gotta fight this one war and then peace" no more half-decadely SOPA battles, we really need to come together as a collective with a religion we always strongly consider and fight for.
The Internet Truly Should Be Treated as it's own Country. One we all live in. Because jesus fucking christ, we're fucked without it. Just completely, absurdly, fucked. We can't come together without it. And sure, we suck at coming together in general, but that's changing.
Straight up, actual change happens that didn't in my time. I strongly believe as time goes on, we'll keep collecting enough information and second hand experiences to collectively grow critical thinking. That yes, there's a plethora of issues to focus on to keep that reality from slipping away, but is entirely possible, so long as we leave shit alone until we the people write the laws surrounding it.
As it is now, a battle against Internet Archive is a war against you and me, and without the excitement or immediete responsibilities it may seem silly, but much like anything in life, if you don't play this silly game of politics, you're bound to lose and cost games your friends and family can't afford to lose.
Anyways fuck advertising like holy shit. You wake up, look at a poster, see the logo, sit up, look at your TV, see a logo, get up, walk to your front door passing by hundreds maybe thousands of little advertisements, go outside, and see a mcdonald's bag, or polar pop cup in the road as you grab your mail, which is all spam and advertisements, go back inside, sit down on your computer (with logos everywhere) just to see Windows 11 has advertisements in the fucking corners. God help us.

Boost Your Business with a Facebook Advertising Agency in India
In the digital age, Facebook has emerged as a powerful platform for businesses to connect with their target audience. With over 300 million active users in India, Facebook presents a massive opportunity for brands to advertise and grow their business. But managing Facebook ads effectively requires expertise, strategy, and the right approach. This is where a Facebook advertising agency in India can make all the difference.
In this blog, we’ll explore the benefits of working with a professional Facebook advertising agency, the services they provide, and why choosing the right partner can help you achieve better results.
Why Facebook Advertising Matters
With billions of users worldwide and a robust advertising system, Facebook allows businesses to reach a large and targeted audience. The platform offers a variety of ad formats—carousel ads, video ads, sponsored posts, and more—giving businesses multiple ways to promote products and services.
Here’s why Facebook advertising agency in India matters:
Highly Targeted Advertising: Facebook allows precise targeting based on demographics, interests, behavior, location, and more. This ensures that ads are shown to the right people, maximizing ad spend.
Cost-Effective Marketing: Facebook ads offer flexible budgeting options, allowing businesses to set daily or lifetime budgets. Whether you have a small or large advertising budget, Facebook can accommodate your needs.
Measurable Results: Facebook’s advertising platform offers comprehensive insights and analytics, helping businesses track ad performance. Metrics such as engagement, reach, conversions, and click-through rates provide valuable data that can help optimize campaigns.
Enhanced Brand Visibility: Facebook's massive user base allows businesses to enhance brand visibility, engage with customers, and build a loyal following. Effective Facebook advertising strategies can significantly boost brand awareness and engagement.
The Role of a Facebook Advertising Agency in India
Partnering with a Facebook advertising agency in India offers numerous advantages. These agencies specialize in crafting, executing, and optimizing Facebook ad campaigns to ensure the best possible results for businesses.
Here are some key roles that a Facebook advertising agency plays:
1. Ad Strategy and Planning
A successful Facebook ad campaign begins with a well-thought-out strategy. The agency will start by understanding your business goals, audience, and competitors. Based on this analysis, they will create a customized advertising plan that aligns with your objectives—whether it’s to drive traffic, generate leads, or boost sales.
2. Ad Creation and Design
Creating engaging and compelling ads is crucial for capturing your audience's attention. A Facebook advertising agency in India will help you design visually appealing ads that resonate with your target audience. From writing catchy ad copy to selecting high-quality images and videos, the agency ensures that your ads are designed to generate maximum impact.
3. Targeting and Audience Segmentation
Targeting the right audience is one of the key factors in the success of Facebook ads. The agency will use Facebook’s advanced targeting options to ensure that your ads reach the right people based on demographics, interests, behaviors, and location. Additionally, they can create custom audiences, such as retargeting past website visitors or targeting lookalike audiences who share similar characteristics to your existing customers.
4. Ad Management and Optimization
Managing Facebook ad campaigns can be time-consuming and complex. A professional agency will handle the day-to-day management of your campaigns, ensuring that your ads are performing at their best. This includes monitoring ad performance, adjusting bids, tweaking targeting, and optimizing creative to improve engagement and conversions.
5. Reporting and Analytics
A Facebook advertising agency in India provides detailed reports and insights on your ad campaigns. They will analyze key metrics such as cost-per-click (CPC), conversion rates, and return on ad spend (ROAS) to give you a clear understanding of how your ads are performing. Based on this data, the agency will make data-driven decisions to enhance future ad performance.
Benefits of Hiring a Facebook Advertising Agency in India
By working with a Facebook advertising agency, businesses can benefit from the agency’s expertise, tools, and experience. Here are some key benefits:
1. Expertise and Experience
Facebook advertising agencies employ specialists who are well-versed in the platform’s algorithms, ad formats, and trends. Their knowledge helps businesses avoid common pitfalls and ensures that campaigns are optimized for success.
2. Cost Efficiency
An experienced agency knows how to allocate budgets effectively, ensuring that your advertising spend delivers the best possible returns. With the ability to test, refine, and optimize campaigns, agencies can reduce wasteful ad spending and maximize ROI.
3. Time-Saving
Managing Facebook ads in-house requires constant attention, analysis, and updates. By outsourcing this responsibility to an agency, businesses can focus on their core operations while the agency manages all aspects of the campaign.
4. Scalability
As your business grows, a Facebook advertising agency in India can help scale your campaigns. Whether you’re looking to expand your ad budget, target new markets, or promote new products, the agency will ensure that your campaigns are adaptable and scalable.
Conclusion
In today’s competitive digital landscape, leveraging the expertise of a Facebook advertising agency in India can significantly improve the success of your Facebook ad campaigns. From crafting tailored ad strategies to managing day-to-day operations and analyzing performance, a professional agency can help you maximize the impact of your Facebook advertising efforts.

i love these kinds of things so much so here lemme share a few of my favorite qol browser extensions, apps, and sites:
Wikipedia Mobile Redirect (Chrome): does exactly what it says! you have no clue how much more readable this is, using Stylebot (i'll explain in a bit) you can also tweak this to you're only liking and make wikipedia browsing actually enjoyable
Dark Reader (Website): turns all your pages to dark mode, you can tweak the specifics of this as well to be exactly your dark mode, plus a per site toggle :)
uBlock Origin (Website): a really good ad blocker which is constantly updated to stop any ads and annoying advertising and tracking bs, generally everything you've heard before from an adblocker, though one thing that's cool abt ublock is that it also has an element "zapper" which just lets you remove any parts of the page an curate your own experience
Stylebot (Website): it lets you modify any site's css, which if you've messed with your own blog's css before then you know how powerful that is, it does require knowledge of css for the most part but there's also a gui that lets you do a lot of what you'll want to do regardless
12ft.io and 12ft.io Redirect Free (Website, Chrome): y'know those annoying sites where you get like 2 articles for free and then you have to pay like 20$ a month for any other ones, well this site (most of the time) lets you bypass that! the redirect basically just provides a button for that, and don't think abt getting the official extension i promise a button is not worth the 5$ or whatever it costs
ClearURLs (Website): y'know those declaration of independence ass urls that amazon and other sites can give you, this basically gets rid of these (technically it removes tracker url parameters but same thing lol)
Redirector (Website): hey op's site mentions this! it basically redirects you from one site to another, very useful when you have sites like the one op posted
SponsorBlock (Website): use youtube? annoyed with sponsored segments in videos? this is the thing for you™ it also lets you block intros and outros, intermissions and anything else which distracts from the content of the video
okay now it's time for the apps and stuff, unfortunately most of these are android specific because apple's weird policies
Kiwi Browser (Website): a mobile browser that lets you use extensions! has an inbuilt adblocker and auto dark theme thing, ngl they kinda suck,, also lets you use dev tools on mobile if you want that, i use it from time to time :)
Aliucord (Website): if you use discord, this is basically betterdiscord for mobile extreme qol stuff you can do with this, just the plugins and themes could be an entire post by itself
Youtube Revanced (Website): basically youtube mobile but with ublock and sponsorblock built-in, also allows you to remove some annoying features, won't list them here though
DarQ (Website): allows you to force any app in your phone to dark mode! if you don't want to root your phone then you have to use Shizuku which is painless to use, just know you have to restart the app everytime you restart your phone, everything else you need to know is in the app :)
Infinity (Website): reddit mobile but better, i rarely use reddit but this makes my experience usable whenever i want to
i think that's the last of it, hope this is useful to someone!
footnote : some of these apps are available on fdroid, an alternative app store, i suggest using Neo Store (F-Droid) as a client for this :)
my quality of life has improved tenfold ever since i was introduced to breezewiki, a site that exists solely to remove the bloat from fandom.com wikis. no more ads, quizzes, random autoplaying videos, popups, recommended pages from other sites, or discord server member lists. just the wiki. these things are finally readable again
