Disillusioned 20 . Overdue

a/n: OMFG AFTER 20 CHAPTERS I FINALLY FOUND WHAT FACE MASK I WAS ENVISIONING, apparently it's called a face veil. the one I specifically had in mind is a hanfu face veil

also while writing this I had to reread the novel because I wanted to use the exact lines Alberu said, and holy sht does it get funnier every time I read it

“Let’s use this opportunity to reveal _____’s existence.”

“Pardon me but I literally just got here…”

_____ was taken aback by the crown prince inside Cale’s room. Not necessarily by his presence as Raon had already informed the healer through telepathy, hence the extra tea, but rather at his words.

“We’re already going to give the people a lot of surprises before the program starts why not maximise it?”

The healer listened to Cale as they poured everyone a cup of tea. In the corner of their eyes, they can see Raon offering them a piece of cookie.

“Yes, I also can’t hold off the nobles wishing to investigate Medicus-nim any longer. At every meeting, they insist on knowing the mysterious healer who’s always by our beloved commander’s side.”

All three adults know what the nobles really want is to pry the healer away from the commander’s side but no one said it out loud.

“So _____ is also very popular! Good for you kindest _____!”

_____ accepted the cookie the young dragon was offering before talking.

“I deeply apologize for the trouble I have caused. I know you’re already busy blocking off the churches because of Mary-nim.”

Sip

The healer took a small sip of tea before continuing.

“If everyone agrees that it’s time for me to make my presence known again then I shall abide.”

Raon held another cookie on _____’s lips despite the healer already holding one. Giving in to the child’s wishes, _____ took a bite of the cookie.

“Then it’s settled. I shall officially announce that you are alive and well. I shall also officially announce that you will be inheriting half of the Perduellio’s assets.”

The Medicus looked down for a moment to see the young dragon playing with their discarded face veil. Raon is trying to wear _____’s veil but can’t quite tie the strings at the back.

“Wouldn’t doing that get the crown some backlash? I am still a Perduellio even though I do not share their blood.”

“They won’t. No one will even dare have a passing thought that you’re involved in their crimes once they hear how they discarded you.”

Cale motioned over to Raon as he spoke. Once the dragon was in front of him, he tied the strings of the veil that reminded the redhead of the Chinese traditional dramas he used to watch back in high school.

Thump

Finally, things sunken in on _____. As they they did the healer felt a sense of nervousness. Unsure if they will be able to handle such responsibility.

Cale who noticed the healer’s hands tremble ever so slightly grabbed them. Holding hands seems to be the new norm for the two.

“I’m not sure if I’ll do a good job but I promise to do my best.”

“Since that’s settled, let’s go back to our previous topic. As I was saying, I need to borrow Choi Han and you.”

Alberu ignored the two showing affection despite not being romantically involved and instead focused on feeding Raon more sweets.

_____ took that as a sign to go back to their bedroom. The commander and healer duo reluctantly let go of each other’s hands and the crown prince kept pretending his blind.

Two days later, at the centre of Huiss, both nobles and normal citizens of the Roan Kingdom gathered to watch the award ceremony and celebration.

“I’m sure everybody is shocked at my sudden announcement of my instructor.”

It’s true, no one had expected Choi Han to come in together with the crown prince, much less be announced that the youngest swordmaster is his highness’ instructor.

“However!”

The healer took it as a sign to stand up.

“There is still one more surprise.”

_____ could feel and hear the nobles whispering amongst themselves. Scared of what’s to come.

“Everyone knows about this one particular healer, the one who’s always by Commander Cale’s side. Surely everyone is curious as to who could that be.”

At that moment Choi Han assisted _____ towards the platform where he and Alberu are. This made everyone even more intrigued as the swordmaster looked like a knight escorting a noble.

The healer muttered a thanks towards Choi Han before stepping to be beside Alberu.

“However, you all them better than you think you do. Young master _____ could you do the honours?”

Both the hall and the plaza are filled with murmurs and questions. Everyone is asking one another if they heard the crown prince correctly.

“How could this be real? Isn’t the Medicus dead for two years?”

“But they never presented a body…”

“Well, how could they retrieve a body that died in the Dessert of Death.”

To quell the masses' growing questions, _____ finally pulled down their hood and removed the face veil they were wearing.

Questions and doubts turned into exclamations of celebration.

“It’s Medicus-nim…”

“Our Medicus-nim is safe!”

“All this time Medicus-nim has been helping defend our kingdom!”

These are some of the comments that can be heard throughout the plaza.

Meanwhile, the nobles in the hall are just as shocked but are more composed about it. However, it’s still noisy as everyone is murmuring amongst themselves.

Alberu raised his hand indicating silence as he still had more to say.

“Young master _____, most of you may know them as Roan Kingdom’s Medicus. Two years ago we received the devastating news that they have died but that was not the case.”

Alberu steps forward for dramatic effect.

“Today the truth shall be revealed! What really happened was that young master _____ found out about Perduellio’s wrongdoings. However, before they could report to me directly what they found out their family threw them in the Dessert of Death. Luckily the Dark Elves found the young master in time.”

Gasp could be heard throughout.

For the citizens that wrongdoing was the announced fraud, tax evasion, and embezzlement done by the family. The nobles and those with a strong network of information, know it’s most likely pertaining to the human trafficking case that happened in the Gyerre Territory.

“It is essentially thanks to the young master that we found out about the Perduellio’s true nature. Even after what happened to them, they still looked after our kingdom.”

Half a lie of a story, but who would dare try to verify it? In addition to that, how would they verify it when the Perduellios are within Cale and Alberu’s clutches?

“As of today the title and territory of the Perduellio’s shall belong to young master _____. Along with this comes half of the assets they used to own.”

The nobles waited for more, scared of the power the Medicus was about to hold. Surely that can’t be it. Not only does the healer have great contributions during the war, but they have also essentially reported traitors within the kingdom.

At that moment, Alberu gave the spotlight to _____.

“When his highness the crown prince came and talked to me, he had offered to give me more rewards for my contributions during the war. However…”

Soft and gentle voice that everyone missed listening to can be heard. This made everyone silent so they could tune in better, especially the citizens. This is essentially the first time _____ is making a public statement.

“I refused it. I may have not known before what my adoptive family was doing, but I still unknowingly helped fund it. For that, I deeply apologize to the citizens of my beloved kingdom.”

_____ bowed deeply as an apology.

There’s no way for the healer to know, but at that moment protests could be heard in the plaza. People are saying things like “they should have accepted the rewards as they deserve it” and “there’s no way they could have known, Medicus-nim is also a victim”.

“As a further apology for the Perduellio’s misdemeanours, I promise everyone that I will further help the citizens of our kingdom by doubling the charity events I used to do in the past. I also promise to straighten out the Perduellio territory.”

‘And do my best to provide some land where the Dark Elves can live.’

_____’s voice was soft but stern. Everyone can see the determination in the healer’s eyes.

Ever since _____ has heard from Cale about how Alberu is planning to give them Perduellio’s territory, the healer has set their mind on providing a land where the Dark Elves could live. The healer is aware that with how things are right now, Alberu can’t give them a separate land himself. So _____ took it upon themself to provide them with land to help normalize their existence and help the crown prince award them their land faster.

After _____’s proclamation, Alberu took over again and the healer went back to where they were seated before. As they did they put their hood and veil back up. There honestly wasn’t a need to do so.

However…

“Cale, I am truly, very proud of you.”

There it is.

“I am very happy to have such a precious younger brother like you”

It took every fibre of _____’s being to not laugh.

The reason why the healer pulled their hood and veil back up is so that no one would be able to see them laugh. While watching the theatrics Alberu is doing _____ remembered the private conversation they had the night before where they talked about how dramatic Alberu should be for this moment.

‘This is more fun than I thought.’

It was after dinner, the entire Henituse family might eat their dinners separately but that doesn’t stop Cale, _____, and the kids from eating together. Eating almost every meal together had been their norm for a year, being in the Henituse castle is not going to change that.

The healer opened the door to their room that was placed just beside Cale. As they did the first thing they see is a quarter Dark Elf reading the novel they had just finished reading.

“A man who got transported inside a novel as the empire’s hostage second male lead then promised to live a simple life so they won’t die for the male lead but ended up making both the male and female lead attached to him? This is interesting I might have to borrow this book from you so I can continue reading it later”

“I didn’t know the crown prince of our kingdom is also a professional in breaking and entering. You truly are a man of many talents.”

Alberu is leisurely sitting on one of _____’s couches while eating a cookie he bought himself. The healer closed the door and sat down in front of him.

“What brings your highness here?”

The crown prince already visited the other night, there’s essentially no reason for him to visit again. It also can’t be an emergency because if it was then he would be in Cale’s room.

“I’m here to talk about your rewards for your contribution during the war.”

_____ refused immediately.

“Your highness, I’m sorry but I must reject.”

The two started talking about the possible backlash if _____ receives too much. The healer also let Alberu know of their plan about letting the Dark Elves in their territory once they become a count.

None of them knew how but the topic gradually shifted to something more lighthearted.

“So you know how my dear dongsaeng has been giving me headaches right?”

The healer nodded.

“I want to pay him back for his efforts somehow.”

Without missing a beat _____ spoke up.

“Make the sworn brothers reveal dramatic your highness. Make it look like you are brothers that have been reunited after being apart for hundreds of years.”

“You really get me Medicus-nim! That’s exactly what I was planning to do.”

Alberu starts talking about the script he had in mind. As _____ hears more about it the more they could envision Cale having a sour look on his face.

The two conspired together to make a script that would make play directors run for their money with how dramatic and grand it is.

“Your highness after grabbing his hand I suggest looking moved while saying “There’s probably nobody in the world who is upright and has no greed like my younger brother” it’ll probably give your dongsaeng nightmares for at least a week.”

And so that’s where they are right now.

_____ had to cover their mouth with their hand. To others, it'll look like the healer was just deeply moved. But the sworn brother knows that the healer is fighting for their life to not laugh out loud.

“I am happy as well. Hyung-nim.”

The one-sided play put on by Alberu ended when Cale finally called the crown prince ‘hyung’ out loud. After that fiasco, the award ceremony finally started.

Mary and the Dark Elves just didn’t mention how pink _____’s face was from holding back laughter.

After the ceremony, the healer changed their outfit into something more fitting for a noble before going over to where Cale is.

“Hahahaha! Cale you should’ve seen your face. It was so funny.”

“You definitely planned that with the crown prince didn’t you?”

Cale is glad that _____ is more expressive and is more joyful now. He just doesn’t appreciate how the healer is currently laughing at him.

“Of course I did. I don’t think I would be able to hold it in if I didn’t know what’s going to happen in advance.”

“Just keep laughing. Let’s see who’ll get the last laugh once you choke on your dessert.”

“Hahahaha!”

No one can hear the conversation the two nobles are having. So in their eyes, it just looks like two good friends having a chat as they didn’t notice the slightly sour look on Cale’s face.

Some might even speculate that something is going on between the two.

How could they not when there’s a blatant fondness in the young man’s eyes?

It honestly looks like his blasting his feelings for everyone to see.

The Henituse family calling over _____ to talk to them does not help the future rumours.

“It’s good that your territory is just right beside us. Remember to call us for anything you need help with.”

“If anyone mistreats you or questions your power tell us or Cale immediately.”

It also doesn’t help that Deruth and Violan are acting as if _____ is their child. The whole thing honestly screams ‘Not only am I being protected by this new dukedom, but I am also very much loved by them.’

That was why some nobles had the great idea of trying to approach the newly named Count while they were eyeing the sweets selection. Since they couldn’t approach Cale they switched their targets to _____.

Not only are they acquainted with the Henituse Duchy, but they are also reputable themself. Their power is unstable opening an opportunity for other nobles to help them, and they have a gentle personality. There’s a lot to gain by forming a relationship with someone like that.

So two nobles set their eyes on _____.

However, before they can even try to speak an overwhelming presence makes itself known. The aura of this person is so strong that it feels suffocating.

“I told you to come to me after talking to my parents.”

“But I saw this cake that looks good. I wanted to get it for us and Raon to taste.”

“Where is it? If it’s good let's ask Beacrox to make it.”

The two nobles tried approaching again once they saw the friendly atmosphere between the two. However, they stopped in their tracks once they saw the commander look at them directly in the eye.

‘Wasn’t he just smiling at the healer a second ago??’

Cale who made his Dominating Aura slightly stronger looked back at _____ who was none the wiser.

“Let’s go Raon is waiting for us on the terrace.”

“Ah right! I have to let him taste this, let’s go.”

With that, the two nobles lost their chance to even glance at _____.

“I’m sorry… I wanted to join you this time too.”

Once again the commander and healer duo are talking. Unlike their conversation earlier, this one is more serious. More private.

“Don’t worry about it, there's more than enough of us to finish the task.”

As usual, their hands naturally found their way towards each other. Cale squeezed _____’s hand to further show that it really is okay.

In that moment it was just the two of them in their own bubble. Nothing else mattered; not Raon stashing away desserts, not the nobles partying back there, not even White Star watching from the live feed in the plaza.

Just the two of them in their own world. Reassuring each other that everything will be alright.

Dear Dottore,

I apologize for possibly interrupting your work, but I couldn't help but wonder how are you doing? From what I've heard, what you do can be tiring to any other person, So I can't help but worry about your status.

Granted, I should've expected this. You were quite the ambitious one, judging by your Akademiya records, and even more so under the Tsaritsa's rule. Still, I am asking you to please try and take a rest when you can, as your experiments can be....exhausting, from what I know. Maybe you can have one of your Segments take over some of your tasks? When they're not busy, of course.

Anyway, I truly hope you take my recommendations into consideration. And if you do need any kind of assistance, then may I be of service?

There has been...issues, regarding the transfer of work between my Segments. Having to take out the orders of Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa, in getting all Archon gnosises, I had to (rather unfortunately) get rid of most of them. MUSE: Gareth 'M' Mallory

what does your muse smell like?

Usually his aftershave, which has notes of light sandalwood and citrus. Something light and fresh and not too obtrusive. You smell it, it's in your nose, but it won't linger for long.

what do your muse’s hands feel like?

A bit coarse from the work he has done in his life; slight callouses on his right ring finger due to the writing he does every day (he still needs to sign a hell of a lot of papers).

what does your muse usually eat in a day?

Not much, really. On a working day, he rarely finds the time and muse to make breakfast or get lunch (however, you might occasionally find him at MI6's canteen to get a sandwich); in the evenings, he often frequents restaurants, either in the Trafalgar Square area, or Covent Garden. When he has a day off, he will start it with fresh fruits and curd, toast, sometimes even a Full English. Lunch, he still doesn't know what that is. And for dinner, it varies and depends on his mood; he sees it as useless to cook for one person, so he might just make a quick pan with vegetables and chicken nuggets, or a sandwich. However, he can never say no to a good pot of pasta.

does your muse have a good singing voice?

We wouldn't know, since he never sings. But he generally has a good, smooth voice, so he might as well just have one. Come in and find out.

does your muse have any bad habits or nervous tics?

Stress is something he lives with on a daily basis. However, if shit really does hit the fan, he will reach for a good bottle of scotch or cognac; he also tends to grab anything to keep his fingers still - aka paperclips, pens, etc.

what does your muse usually look like/wear?

Gareth dresses distinguished and impeccably, but not too fancy. A blue shirt, suit, tie that fits the colour scheme. Braces. Chelsea boots. No hairs or lint on his clothes. He dresses for the occasion, and since he has lots of responsibility in his job... Even outside of work you will most likely find him wearing a shirt, but he will also wear a pair of jeans and coats. At home, when he is relaxed, he often wears sweatpants in the evening. Woollen jumpers. His old t-shirts from the army ('I hate sand' and 'Little Sht' being his favourites).

is your muse affectionate? how much? how so?

He can be. But don't expect him to show it in public. Gareth often seems rather cold, but that is just on the outside; when he loves someone, he has a hard time telling them with words. He will gift them books, copy a poem to slip them the note.

what position does your muse sleep in?

Usually on his right side, facing the bedroom window. It isn't that he doesn't want to cuddle to someone lying in his bed, it is just the position he is used to. He will turn his back on the other person simply because he knows the nightmares he has can get heavy, and he doesn't want to wake the other.

could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room?

Oh, if Bond has fucked up again - yes. Yes, you will hear him down the hallway! He enjoys walking up to someone without them noticing, and suddenly standing behind them, though.

It's sorta a modern AU but not at the same time, i'll put a cut here because its long and i ramble

It's not a Forced project to bring Arthur back like with Gray but the alternate name i use for this AU in my notes is "The Once and Future King" so...

The "pendragon|orkney" family does exist (as in mom(igraine)(she's alive), dad(uther)(he left them), morgan and lot, and nephews and nieces (morgan lost a bet to 5 year old arturia and had to name her kids after the knights) and more arthuriana characters are scattered around too, but they dont have an importance to the HGW part of the AU, with the exception of a few

They still call her Arturia (TECHNICALLY they call her Arthuria, because i love that name and no one will take it from me) because the few years that Uther was with them, he called Arturia "Arthur" because he wanted a boy and he couldnt cope (theres the History repeats itself motif and also misogynistic men like that still exist), so Morgan used Arthur*ia* as a nickname, and it stuck

This is where i will confess that im thinking of using a different name for Arturia, i already Kinda do in my notes. As in legal name (thinking of Aurlyn, which is similar but different enough). I would be doing the same with some of the Orkney siblings whose names would not be as common in the modern world or too obvious a reference, while still being named after the knights (Gareth would stay as Gareth cuz thats literally still a mormal name people use, but a name like Agravain or Mordred arent as common, ig. Or Gawain. And Gaheris. Actually only Gareth has a mormal fcking name)

ALSO mordred is Morgan and Lot's kid in this. No weird cloning in my modern AU. Genetics from the pendragon hit hard tho, they still look like Arturia

Actually idk what else to say rn, theres some more stuff but its escaping my mind, so little random stuff

Arturia's family has little to no mage relation currently, but they still have mage blood and sht

Also Merlin manipulated Morgan(modern) using her literal dreams, into freeing him from Avalon and he used to that hang out with little kid Arturia at the park (everyone hates him/chases him away)

The reason why Cath Palug is there is because this AU follows the F/SN timeline, which is a timeline in which Chaldeas never formed. Therefore, Fou never learned to love people, teehee. He only learned to hate Merlin and King Arthur (?)

Also theres a modern Guinevere, tho her name is literally just Gwen, and Arturia and her met during high school Time but they werent Actually classmates (think like, tournaments or trips to other school/places). I called her "arturia's high school crush" in the tags of a previous ask but they are still friends and talk a lot

I've been meaning to do this for my AU OCs for a while now... thought it would be a fun way to introduce you to these characters and give you a feel for what they're going to be like in the story before you meet them properly.

Hope you all like this! And I also hope it gets you excited for the actual story (which is coming soon, I promise lol. I've just been super busy lately... and to be honest... Steph's Crew has been more of a priority lately writing-wise. So here I am, coming back from the dead of every possible social media app (maybe expect pinterest..).

- rising from the dead to write a post about how I absolutely suck at posting.

Note: I'm writing this on a whim, without even making notes, so I might NOT make sense at moments. But I will write this sht anyways. No one can stop me.

So here's my short story:

I started posting art more than a year ago on insta, it wasn't that bad actually. But I was posting the kind of art I had no connection to (to make more likes) so,, i burned myself out and stopped posting. After a year of break I decided to start sharing my art again (art that I actually enjoy creating) BUT I suck at posting. And it's not like I don't have art to post but I'm still doing horribly..

Then, du-du-du, what is it? What's stopping you? What is your problem?

Well, the first answer is "tf I know" but let's ponder on this a bit.. What makes it difficult for me to post and run a proper account?

Reason number one! The sole act of posting is stressful (and also bothersome in a way?). It's stressful because I already think about how many likes I'll get (or how I won't get any bruh), plus I have to write a shitton of hashtags to even hope to get some. To add to that, there's that thought that I'm sharing my art with complete strangers in the back of my head and I get scared of judgement.

Stop! You can fight this fear, and put up with hashtags somehow, right? Actually, I did pretty well for some time. But alas, then comes the reason numberrr-

Two! The algorithm (maybe not here on tumblr but you know the deal). If you're irregular, it'll take you years to build your account. And I'm irregular af. I draw irregularly, and thus post even more irregularly or I don't do it at all. So I can say goodbye to a proper account, I guess, and chances of somebody finding me.

Well, I could go back to the "posting" part as I got a random thought - the act of posting somehow kills the fun for me? Firstly, you have to watermark your piece if you don't want it stolen (and it doesn't guarantee its safety in 100% anyways, bruh) and I don't watermark my arts AT ALL. Thus, even if I know I should, I end up forgetting to do it anyway and I get frustrated over a pretty much silly thing that a watermark is. Secondly, the stress that I talked about already.

Let's go to reason number three! And maybe this one is my main problem? I get discouraged easily and I struggle with keeping up with things (being irregular, as I mentioned before + simply forgetting to do things). And well, I can only blame myself on that, I guess 💀 I have lots of ideas but committing to anything is a big pain for various reasons - everything I discussed above + a bit of perfectionism too, I'd say. That's kind of a bad mix,,

So, we got 3 big reasons and everything in-between I probably didn't think of! If anyone has read all of this, thank you.

And since I'm struggling but still would like to run some sort of account/blog, I'd like to ask for any sort of advice! Or maybe you relate to what I wrote. In any case, feel free to share your thoughts and ideas!

okay so. this is me just going thru vids and talking abt them if i see one i think i could comment on but its mostly singlets asking basic questions or making fun of things we've known abt the disorder since the 90s and just..i dont recommend looking into it on your own. singlets please do basic research challenge i am so so tired.

shoutout to those ppl in this tag calling out the misinfo and blatent ableism yall are wonderful .

there is no limit to how many alters/sysmates a system can have and there is no reason to make one up.

Seokjin is the perfect man.

Sure, he acts goofy but he’s also handsome and polite. He jokes around with you, he cooks for you, he doesn’t even befriend other women and he’s even a big romantic at heart. Your friends want him and your parents adore him - you couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend! So, in return, when he kindly asks you not to talk to other men or not to go out too much, it’s only natural that you listen. You taunt him about his slightly conservative and traditionalist nature. But what kind of a man who was raised with high standards and morals wouldn’t have one? When he tells you not to wear something in public - you don’t fucking wear it. When he tells you you’re going to be a stay at home mom - then that’s the end of the fucking discussion. And if you disobey him, then you deserve to be verbally berated until you change your mind. People call it abuse, but he calls it love. Trust him, he only has your best interest at heart. It’s the only way you’ll learn to obey your man and gain value as a female.

It’s the only way you’ll become his perfect woman.

You never expected a grown man to be so whiny, especially not one who seemed so intimidating initially. “You were gone too long.” - “Why do you have to leave so often?” - “Who were you with?” - Holy shit, the way he was bombarding you with questions made you feel like you just came back from committing a statewide murder spree, even though you were only gone grocery shopping for approximately thirty minutes. But it’s fine, your husband was harmless. It was definitely strange being married to a rapper. You heard most of their true feelings and inner thoughts only came out when they wrote or performed. So it did worry you when he wrote a song about binding you in a cage and keeping you chained like his little pet. But you passed it off as kinks or some shit. And it definitely worried you when he freestyled about torturing and killing your guy best friend in graphic detail on stage, which ultimately led to said friend cutting off all contact with you. But you passed it off as adrenaline-filled, in-the-moment jealousy. Sure, Yoongi was either testy or silent for the majority of your relationship - but that didn’t mean the “real him” was a temperamental and obsessive psychopath.

...did it?

My way or the highway.

Hoseok made his standards clear for you since day one. This relationship will go by his terms, and only his terms. Which meant he got to go out whenever he wanted, yet you never did. He got to touch you when he felt like it, yet you had to ask permission. He got to have female friends, yet you didn’t get to have any - of any gender. You’ll understand one day, he tells you, but you think years will pass before that time arrives, because the truth was you didn’t and might never truly understand him. It terrified you how Hoseok, the friendliest, most carefree man you’ve ever met, can turn into someone so menacing. Someone who threatens your well-being when even the slightest part of his rule is broken. A section of him was detached, while the other section was a pure freak. All of his punishments were sexual, from bondage to torture. Sometimes you think he punished you on purpose just so he could teach you your place. You’re not sure if he had an addiction to total domination or if he just craved mummification and impact play.

All you know is that he had certain habits, and they all happen to revolve around you.

Daddy.

You roll up the door to your room.

Namjoon knew everything. At least that’s what it seems like. He was the smartest guy in your city - actually no - the smartest guy in your whole country. No other man could ever compete with the intellect and raw talent he possessed. You greatly admired him - which he also knew, of course. The one thing he understood the most in the world was you. He memorized your habits, every inch of your curves, the moles in your skin and even the pattern of your breath. He told you when to eat, when to sleep, who to [not] meet, and what to do for the day. Your needs had never been fulfilled to such an extent until he appeared by your side. And you knew then that no one could understand you better than him - not even yourself, which is why you took his words for scripture. Since then, you’ve done everything he told you to do without question. Crawling into your room, you turn around and roll the cage door back down before settling into one of the cushions in the corner.

It was almost 7, which meant daddy would be home soon, and then you could eat.

Today in psychology class you had learned about psychological manipulation. You didn’t want to think like this, but the definition of the word reminded you of your boyfriend. Like when the professor talked about using underhand tactics to change social perceptions, you thought about the time Jimin kept flirting with your best friend until she fell for him, even while knowing you liked him. It led you to completely ostracize her from your life. Or when the teacher mentioned using deceit and lies to influence the thoughts of others, it made you remember the time Jimin told you about the things people were saying behind your back until you lost trust in everyone but him. Somehow, the whole ordeal of being gaslit really resonated with you, and you’re not even sure why. Jimin only did these things to protect you from others, you reason. You shouldn’t think like that - not when Jimin is the only person in this world who cares for you. Regretting what you just did, you beat yourself in the head with your fists in dismay. What kind of horrible person thinks these lies about the person who loves them more than anything?

The pain from your head and heart surrounded you in an agonizing heat as you began to cry, sitting down on your bed to text Jimin. You wanted him to come over, you wanted to tell him what you did and you wanted him to forgive you, so you could forgive yourself. He’d be able to tell your bad thoughts to go away, he’d be able to make you feel safe again. Jimin was right all along - the only thing you ever needed was him.

Artist at heart.

“Say ah~”

“Fuck you.”

“Oh my! Doll, you’re too pretty to be cursing.” Taehyung replies with a gasp, feigning shock as he places the caviar back on his plate. You roll your eyes and scoff. It’s usually a good thing if your boyfriend treats you like a priceless artifact, right? Well, not for you. Not when your boyfriend can actually place a price on you. $10,000 to be exact - $10,000 to a random thug so he could break the arms of the man who asked you for your number in the coffee shop.

“I heard about the man you hired, Tae. How many times will I tell you I’m not an object?”

“Everyone’s an object, doll.” Taehyung smirks, casually wiping his mouth with a linen napkin, “Some are just more...costly than others.”

You stare at the unbothered man in annoyance. His whole room was filled with original paintings, marbled statues, golden gadgets and silver trinkets. And in between it all, you had also started to feel like one of his art displays with the way he dressed you silk and bathed you in luxury - refusing to let others sully you by their dirty looks or touches. But then again, it isn’t too bad, you think as he brings the caviar and cream up to your lips yet again. He never hurts you - he’s never even raised his voice at you. You’re too precious for that, he says. And well, at least you’d never get injured or feel lonely with all the love and care he gives his possessions. So, with a sigh, you bite into the dessert he was offering you and watch him break out into a boxy grin.

He wasn’t so bad - just a little artist at heart.

Your boyfriend was an enigma. Baby-faced, but with the body of Apollo. But he wasn’t just physically confusing. You had a hard time understanding him mentally as well. For one, he’d sternly tell you to do something but then get all teary-eyed if you dared say no. Then there were times where he’d swear he wasn’t jealous but he’d become green, red and purple at the mere mention of a guy in your life. In bed, he always preferred to be on top but the slightest pressure you applied turned him into a crying and whining bottom. You just didn’t get him, but it was definitely fun to press his buttons. It never occurred to you just how much you might enjoy making a tall-ass, jacked man into a whimpering and pouting mess, but you definitely enjoyed it nonetheless. Other girls would kill to be in your place, you were just so lucky. Everyday you’d get braver with your tests, whether it was flirting with other men or wearing skimpy outfits. His jealousy was endearing and his possessiveness made you squeal with glee. The bolder you became with your crusades, the more you failed to realize that everyone had their limit. And once they’re pushed past it, the consequences can be jarring. Especially if they’re someone as mysterious as Jungkook.

Then again, there was no better way to find out then to try. So keep trying him...just so we can see how lucky you truly are.

👀 Do you have any WIPs that you would never let see the light of day? If yes, what are they about?

I have one(1) idea that I hate with a passion but my brain conjured it up, so I wrote some of it down. Includes Act 2 spoilers (hahaha Erik's backstory)

The story plot is under the read more. P.s. it’s sloppy because I hate it.

Summary: El knew his new life as Dundrasil’s king was going to be difficult, but he enters the fray more than a little unprepared. Married life is just as difficult, but when Erik takes leave for a weeklong break, El is stripped of any comfort he’s familiar with, equipped only with a fluffy cravat and a never-ending schedule of meetings.

When a new visitor from Erik’s past visits the castle, will El be prepared to balance his duties as king and husband?

SPOILERS the guy who visits the castle is Erik’s father. Where was he fcking off to for 20+ years? I don’t know. As far as I can tell, we don’t know where Erik’s parents are, and even whether they are alive or not. My long-running assumption is that they died or were neglectful. The Vikings found Erik and Mia abandoned, after all. So either the family was caught in a snowstorm (kids/parents separated, but all survived) or... sabrecats (parents = 💀 but kids survived). I don’t know.

Anyway, this fic would have had political intrigue and marital disagreements, neither of which I am prepared to write.

The vague plot went like this: Erik’s father shows up, saying he’d heard the king consort of their kingdom matched the description of himself. Aka, blue hair, those eyes, the accent… So Daddy Dearest shows up.

El’s ambivalent about it. For one, here’s Erik’s pa! That’s good, right? But Erik had grown up thinking he’d never meet his parents. So El’s sort of glad Erik isn’t there to face Dad and have to deal with all of that baggage.

…Until Erik doesn’t return from his trip for, like, days. And no one wants the king to go looking because he has other sht to deal with. But Eleven leaves anyway in search of his beloved. Dad tags along because Erik was in the Sniflheim region and Pops is experienced with the temperamental snowstorm-y weather.

They find Erik. El tells Pops to keep a low profile, to hold off from revealing he’s Erik’s pops. Dad follows along at first, but Erik figures it out pretty quickly once El leaves the two alone and Erik confronts Pops about it. Thus, luminerik get into a disagreement. Erik leaves first with a chimera wing.

The only bit I have written is that El gets a fever and gets bedridden. Here’s a snippet of that:

El heard a knock at his door and sighed. “Who is it?” he asked. He saw the flash of blue hair before anything else. Then he also smelled cooked stew and grimaced. He didn’t feel like reconciling, not yet. Erik approached with the bowl. “Jade told me you’ve been refusing to eat.” El’s face hardened. “Is that why you came back? To tell me to eat my veggies?” Erik scowled at him, but the look passed quickly, replaced by a softer furrow of his eyebrows. “You need to eat. You have a duty to your people to at least try and get better.” “Fuck ‘em,” El grumbled. “El.” Erik sat down next to him, gesturing to the bowl of stew in his hands. “Eat. I made it myself.”

There’s literally nothing else in the doc.

The reason I don’t want to write it?

I don’t think Erik needs parents, per se. And it makes me feel Funky. Especially the luminerik fight, but I don’t see myself writing this without that conflict. Ugh, I just don’t want to write that angst, I guess. And also, idk WHO would want to read this, you know?
