Sometimes I have to remind myself that posting art online is like screaming into a void 🙃🦉✌️

The new year holds a lot of issues for me. Art is difficult, life as an artist is difficult, and the world isn't kind. The sense of impending doom and failure looms over me. Why is nothing ever easy?

⚠️⚠️IMPORTANT!!⚠️⚠️

If you have an Apple product you need to hear this,

In the latest update Apple has added and insidious Ai to every single one of your apps

You will need to manually turn this off to stop Ai from using your apps as a learning base

First:

Head to settings and find the Apple Intelligence & Siri tab

Second:

if you scroll to the bottom of that tab you should find an option to see your apps and a separate option to see apps clips (these can be done in either order but I’ll explain clips first)

Third:

You should come to this screen with an option of “Learn from Apps Clips”, make sure to turn that off (if it’s green it’s still on)

Fourth:

Head back and click onto the apps section, this should bring you to a screen with all your apps

You’re going to have to click on every single one of your apps and turn it off manually (Apple has deliberately made it as tedious as possible in a way to discourage people doing this)

Fifth:

SHARE THIS INFORMATION!! either via my post or making your own,

Every uninformed person is another source of content for Ai to steal from, don’t let this undermine us

As far as I’m aware that’s everything, but there may be more

It took me some time but I think I finally figured out what helps me stay happy with my art and what works and doesn't work for me so I have some tips that may be obvious to some but maybe helpful to others in case you ever felt unhappy with your art:

I often felt stuck in my own art style as it was too polished and restrictive in some ways. I felt the need to finish my drawings in a specific way to keep them consistent and it became the pattern that was taking away all the joy of creating new art for me so now I try to have a little bit more fun with what brush I use, how I use it, with how I do lineart (sometimes I don't) and how I render

I experiment with different brushes instead of only using one and the same all the time so my brain doesn't feel like it's in a cage

with each drawing I feel like I work against time as I get bored with what I draw quite fast and as my current interests change pretty often. I must finish drawings quickly but my perfectionism doesn't allow it since every drawing I make still NEEDS to be perfect and it only brings me more stress so I need to remind myself that

SKETCH IS A FINISHED DRAWING!

I don't need to make a perfect line art, the coloring doesn't have to be on point every time, as long as I had fun drawing something and I'm happy with the end result that's all that really matters

warming up before drawing makes a big difference so draw some lines and circles

taking breaks is important, if you don't feel like drawing don't push yourself because that will only make things worse and you'll feel more tired and art blocked

and if you really feel like you want to draw but feel stuck/uninspired - start small with a simple sketch in a sketchbook or some doodles on a piece of paper

no step forward is too small

so don't be so harsh on yourself!

When we discuss Art burn-out, "differences in quality", people complaining that " almost nobody paints like renaissance artists any longer", injuries etc: That number alone tells you all you need to know.

People want more and more and more, for less and less and less. Less time, less income, less -everything-. and when they can't get what they want, wants to replace us entirely with AI.

I don’t post here often enough and I’m going to try something new to fix that. Hoping people here can help.

Starting today and then every Sunday, I’ll ask for art prompts, anything you want (fluff, angst, crack, mofu, I’m fairly open, just no preg/mpreg or kids) and I’ll pick at least one to sketch and share the following week. I may even color them and share the progress updates on my patreon. This is a limited opportunity for the next few months since I would like to give my Patrons chance to suggest ideas first. But at the moment Im struggling and reaching out for more supporters. So lets hear your prompts.

Also, if I don’t pick your idea one week, please give it a second shot, I’ll try to do as many different prompts as I can over the weeks.

Good luck, Anon. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. If it makes you feel better I’ve seen many artists draw Bee in different ways (fat, skinny, full on bee, mixture of bee and fennec fox but with their own twist, etc). Till this day, my favorite Bee design is from Lovesart23.
