Tim & Duke: Tim & Duke: The Most Underrated Duo
Look, we need to talk about how criminally underrated the Tim and Duke duo is. They’re so different but somehow they just work together.
You’ve got Tim, the strategist, always five steps ahead, solving puzzles in his head before anyone even knows there’s a puzzle to solve. Then you’ve got Duke, who can literally see in darkness and read Gotham’s shadows like a second language. While Tim’s putting together all the pieces of a case, Duke’s already got his instincts fired up, scanning the city like he’s got his own Bat-radar.
But what makes them so great? It’s how they complement each other.
Tim is the guy who can tell you the how and the why. He’ll map out an entire mission, know where every player is going to be, and anticipate what move to make three days from now. Duke? He’s the guy who doesn’t need the map. He reads the moment. Tim trusts Duke’s instincts so much that sometimes they don’t even need to talk during patrol. They just know.
The Batfam doesn’t give them enough credit, but Tim and Duke have this unspoken bond. Like when Duke senses something off and Tim just adjusts his whole plan without missing a beat. They’ve got that effortless teamwork, no drama, no spotlight—it’s all about getting the job done and protecting Gotham.
Plus, can we talk about how chill they are? Tim’s all about getting lost in his work, and Duke’s the guy who’s like, “Hey, let’s take a breather,” but in a way that Tim actually listens. It’s subtle, but Duke keeps Tim grounded in a way the others don’t always manage to.
I just want more Tim and Duke content, more moments of them being the underrated power duo Gotham doesn’t realize it needs.
#tim drake#duke thomas#tim and duke supremacy#i need people to include duke in all the batfam stuff and not leave him in the footnotes everytime#i'm so tired of the 'he wasn't there bcs it was during night patrol and he was sleeping'#give me more duke thomas content!!!#batfam#gothams underrated duo

Do you think after BruceQuest the bat kids + Oracle and Alfred (maybe or maybe not Batman)
all but blatantly cut contact with the Justice League?
Even if Batman forgives them for leaving him for dead even with all the evidence in front of them, they've still shown themselves wildly unreliable to even their own members
Unless the Justice League forces themselves into a Bat's conflict or other situation or the bats genuinely have no other option
Bats lean towards each other for help, next best thing is Young Justice or other heroes of their generation, and as last resorts, mercenaries or villains, maybe even ex-LOA members
The Justice league (including Batman if he sticks with em) are the last last resort and are the last people to learn of Bat-involved incidents, if at all
Maybe rogues outside of Ra's learns what BruceQuest was, how it ruined Red Robin's reputation irreparably and uses it to annihilate the League's PR by showing the truth to the world?
I know Mr Lex Luthor would lap that shit up
Especially if Batman is still on good terms yet Red Robin is still dealing with the aftermath years later
Everyone is pulling their hair out because Lex is doing an objectively good thing for the wrong reason and when his villainy is toppled again—
Red Robin isn't going to live his life like his repaired reputation is gonna last
Ooh. How would the Bats react to the JL post BruceQuest?
Cass, Steph, Duke, and Jason do not have a relationship or rely on the JL. Jason probably is already upset at the JL for a variety of reasons. All that would change if the batfam is Team Tim would be those batkids being colder to the JL. Maybe they also pull off pranks.
In the end, those Batkids would be the equivalent of hearing your sibling talking about their toxic workplace and hating those fuckers (who you rarely see/interact with) on principle.
For Damian? It's a toss-up. It depends on how he views Tim and the JL. If Damian wants to become Batman, he might see the JL as a necessary step for that. He might need to have several conversations with various family members and his friends (like Colin and Jon) to understand his own position and thoughts on the JL.
For Babs, I hc she helped them a lot with their systems and other work. She probably feels guilty about Tim (not believing/supporting him and his traumatizing trip he did alone). If she was also on Team Tim, she would pass all system management to Vic and maintain a slightly frosty professional distance from them. Her Birds of Prey would become aware that she helps them, but she only assists the JL in dire circumstances.
Dick would have mixed feelings about it. He kind of told other heroes that Tim wasn't to be trusted and that he was having a mental breakdown due to grief. Now, what they did with that information is not Dick's fault. They should have supported the teenager and understood that Dick was also crumbling under his grief/responsibilities. So, Dick feels conflicted. He wants to make it up to Tim, though, and probably maintains a more professional distance from JL.
Alfred is also guilty of not being there for Tim when he needed help and care. However, I like to imagine he makes very pointed comments at JL members when they visit for their direct actions in that situation.
I do think that the batkids join together to mutually say "fuck you" to the JL, but in their own ways.
Batman/Bruce is iffy. On one hand, people like to use the BruceQuest as Bruce's kick in the pants to be a better father. On the other hand, he does his whole Batman Inc shit and is in Gotham less. So, it depends on how you picture him dealing with that trauma and his relationships with his family. If he's doing the less local Batman stuff, then he's probably more with the JL (and thus not on his kids' side).
The Lex Luthor theory you have going on? Brilliant 👏

The Batfam and cooking
Alfred: we have so much canon info about this one. He takes pride in meeting the demands of his grandkids, but the kids sometimes just pretend to like it for his peace of mind.
Bruce: No. And I don't mean in the meme way. He's more than capable of sustaining himself and following instructions. He also chooses to subsist on those "nutritional milkshakes". Like to him is not a matter of learning how to cook, he's a chemist measuring his exact nutritional needs in a cup. It's disgusting and he shouldn't be allowed near the blender.
Barbara Gordon: not the best, not the worst. She has cooked, she will cook again. She's also not trying to make anything too fancy. She prefers take out mainly because she has (and will again in the future) burnt her food to a crisp because she got distracted with oracle stuff. A quick check while the potatoes are in the oven is a very dangerous thing.
Dick Grayson: he would love to be that guy that takes Instagramable pictures of his food. Sometimes he manages to do just that, but that's not sustainable for him. He has a few fancy recipes he likes to bring out to impress people or to feel like a responsible adult. Most of the time he's sauteing random vegetables with some rice and chicken and calling it a day. It's good, healthy and filling but is not much in the great scheme of things. I feel like he'd make really good salads too for some reason.
Cassandra Cain: she's not very good at being people. Cooking is part of that, a survival skill and not much more. She really appreciates nice food but doesn't see the point in learning herself when her time is better spent elsewhere. I can see her breaking into the other's houses to join them for dinner because she forgot to make her own.
Jason Todd: this man cooks. I don't care if the whole "Alfred's favorite" thing is a bit fanon, it's fun fanon. I think that since he is aware of how they lie to Alfred sometimes, he'd be an even better cook. He's the kind of guy to make any recipe work first try, even if he keeps workshopping it until it's perfect. He's also very neat and cleans after himself. Cooking helps him wind down after a hard night. If he messes up though he might cry.
Stephanie Brown: she took the whole "cooking is like science" and decided to be a mad scientist. Her cooking works for her because she has crazy tastes. Like she'd make a salami and Nutella sandwich and consider it her Magnum opus. She loves baking too just so she can fuck around and find out. Steph usually leaves the mess there until she needs the space to cook again. Not because she's dirty it's just that she gets so caught up in trying the final product she forgets about it. She stresses the fuck out of Jason.
Tim Drake: he's more of an utilitarian, closer to Cass. He learned a few simple recipes when he was a kid and that's all he needs. Through the years he's had to add a couple more to make it more balanced and fit his needs (first with the increase of physical activity and then the asplenia). He has a very healthy but very limited diet. He refuses to add anything else because there's no need. He already knows how to cook the things he needs and likes well, thank u very much.
Duke Thomas: this man can cook. It takes him a while to get into it, but he has great instinct for it. He's more of a "vibes only" kind of cook, which makes him an awful baker but Alfred has the sweets covered anyways. Part of his process includes picking the spices from the back of the rack that Alfred pretends don't exist. He's creative but not in as much of a messy way as Steph. And unlike her, he does have functioning taste buds so sometimes he ends up a victim of his own hubris. Most times it works out for him.
Damian Wayne Al Gul: he helps his siblings whenever he mooches food from them (because Alfred is the only one that tolerates idle hands in the kitchen). He loves Jason's cooking but he has more fun with Duke and Steph. They allow his input and suggestions which makes him feel like he's contributing. He prefers Duke though, because his success rate is higher.

okay so: there are a decent amount of timber fics that pit Tim and Bernard against each other as enemies in some way. some variations of this include Bernard getting possessed, Tim as Joker Junior, or Bernard as a mob heir. but, you know, we are missing one scenario: evil gun Batman.
but this post is not about timber + evil gun batman!tim. this post is about the circumstances that it would take to get Tim to agree to being Batman in the first place, which are many because of our current set of characters. but first, let's discuss our theoretical worldstate.
1) Approximate ages
Tim is 24. Steph is 25, Cass and Jason are both ~26, Dick is like...31?, Duke is 22, and Damian is 18. I don't know how old Babs is in the current canon but we'll assume that she's, like, a couple years older than Dick. Helena Bertinelli (who will matter later in this) is between Dick and Barbara. Bruce is in his 40s and we'll just leave it at that.
2) Hero mantles
It's pretty much what you would expect, but I'll detail a couple things: Cass and Steph are still sharing Batgirl, but Babs has stopped the mantle entirely and is Oracle full-time, as she should be. Damian is still Robin but he's not happy about it and is on the verge of quitting to become someone else/leave Gotham/whatever. Tim is...it's complicated, okay? It's not that Tim doesn't want to be a vigilante. He definitely has a healthy civilian-vigilante life balance! I think right now he's not really patrolling formally, but he does do stuff for the vigilante network that Babs doesn't because she's busy with the Birds of Prey/non-Bat projects she's working on right now and can't keep track of vigilantes in Gotham who aren't the Bats. People like Xanthe, Helena, Claire (Gotham Girl), some non-Duke We Are Robin alumns, etc.
3) Other miscellaneous stuff
Kate is in the Bat-circle, but falls more under Tim's purview of "vigilantes operating out of Gotham who aren't really part of the Batfam" than under Bruce's purview of "Batfam leader". She's still Batwoman, though. Darcy Thomas is still friends with Tim and operating as Sparrow, but with an actual vigilante costume and not just a purple hoodie and a domino mask. Tim operates out of a larger version of the murder houseboat.
Okay, now: why is Tim Batman, again?
Tim does not want to be Batman. This is important. This is also preceded by a giant conga line of tragedies. For this to happen, Dick, Cass, and Bruce all either real-die or fake-die. I imagine Bruce is not really dead because he's not allowed to die. He just got lost in the multiverse because of a glitchy portal or something. Cass died in the line of fire trying to protect someone, because if she did try to dodge the bullets someone would die. Not sure about Dick yet. Maybe he had to fake his death again to go undercover. (Tim will absolutely call him an asshole for this.) The order of events is probably that Dick is the first one, then Bruce, then Cass. Cass ends up surviving the injury miraculously, but is in a coma/stuck in physical therapy/unable to do vigilante work. Damian is at a point in his character development where he no longer wants to be Batman. Helena does not want to do that again. Jason is like "fuck Batman we do not need Batman".
Duke asks if there's anyone else who's ever been Batman. Tim has flashbacks to Azbats. But then he does have a brainwave and attempts to reach Helena, but Babs says she's out on an important thing for the Birds of Prey and won't be back for a while. >:(
Nobody wants to be Batman, but Tim is exactly the kind of character who would do it anyways because Gotham needs a Batman. (Someone who is better read on Damian would be able to talk about how this impacts him, but I'm sure it would not be pretty, especially considering the character developments I've given him for this scenario. He does not want to be Robin anymore! He was already approaching that point when Bruce disappeared!)
#dc#tim drake#it takes more people dying before tim gets to the part where he's ~evil~ batman. because tim does not change his morals very easily.#i'm not sure i will do more with this concept. but it certainly does exist!#au: gotham needs a batman

Duke being the character only to show authors perspective on other characters but not doing anything with Duke himself.
Batfam constantly bugging Jason's apartment and invading his space despite him not wanting to interact with them and being vocal about that.
Bat-Mom Selina.
1) Duke being the character only to show authors perspective on other characters but not doing anything with Duke himself.
Again, guilty. In 96 messages, Duke technically is the main character, and it's his POV, but the story itself is about finding a random teen on the doorstep of the Manor, and this teen is a freshly resurrected JPT. I do tend to write Jason-centric stories even if I killed him off off-screen before the story even started.
Look. Is it a problem? Absolutely. There's a separate Tumblr someone created that counts how many days between the fics with Duke as the main character and my fic wouldn't have been on it. I see why that tumblr exists and why people are not okay with this trope in general, and I am a part of the problem.
But.
For my creative process, it would have really helped if Duke's family dynamics were as messed up as any other Batfam character that I like. Either that, or a copious amount of therapy that I still need to undergo to let go of that aspect of characters and write just. Stories. With plots. That don't include dissecting unhealthy family dynamics.
So, again, I don't like it, but I won't necessarily judge a writer for it because of glass houses and stones.
2) Batfam constantly bugging Jason's apartment and invading his space despite him not wanting to interact with them and being vocal about that.
Ohhh and Barbara having access to all his phone numbers and such. I know in Batfam, stalking is how they show their love - the fandom attitude is, at least. In comics, they're not actually that bad about invading each other's privacy. (An exception to that I remember is Ric being stalked, but not helped, by Batman. Though to be honest, I don't really think Bruce put that much attention into it; honestly, that felt like a lie he came up with not to seem like an asshole).
Personally, I am like. No. Please leave it in 2010s where it belongs.
It's not only Jason who's the victim of such treatment but basically every Batfam member. Jason is the worst of it, because mostly, he's the one who's on the outs of Batfam, and this is authors' way of Batfam forcing their way in, through his gruff shell of fake lone-wolviness. Does that make sense?
Please note that such fics are often written by Jason in Batfam fans, so it's not that people willfully disregard his right to privacy in their writing, it's just. The way they see Batfam getting through to him, I guess. Basically, not malicious but a failure of imagination.
Bold of them to assume Jason wouldn't clock any and all bugs Batfam could install, though.
3) Bat-Mom Selina.
No. NO. Nooooo. No.
I mean, does she even want kids? Does she need to adopt kids if her partner has them? I mean, the last one I guess - you kinda need to help your partner with their stuff when you tie the knot. It might be you even share legal responsibility for them? Idk. But that also is one of the reasons I don't think BatCat should work: if your partner wants kids and you don't, it's... Not going to work long-term. Or someone's gotta compromise.
Just recently, though, I've seen a post talking about how writing good mom!Selina vs bad mom!Talia is racist and misogynistic and I agree. I especially hate it if Selina is written as Damian's mom. Thank you but he has a mother already. I also blame Tom King for that.
I might let it slide if it's a Stray AU with Selina getting herself not really a kid but a sidekick for the life of crime - Dick, Tim or Jason. Though I would say, Steph being Stray would be far more superior, with Steph messing up Cluemaster's crimes by stealing whatever he wanted to steal first.
Whereas for Jason it would be better if he gets adopted by preboot Nocturna (a thief instead of a vampire rapist). Honestly, the vibe I got from seeing Robin!Jason and Catwoman interactions in comics is, he hates her guts basically. Or at the very least, he's not impressed by her, and she doesn't really care about him either.
With Dick and Tim getting adopted by Catwoman I honestly think it doesn't get deeper than an excuse for a catboy fetish so I'm not really into this trope with them at all.
Helena Wayne is also a thing that exists, but because it's very white picket fence of DC, I tend to pretend that she doesn't, in fact, exist, even in alternate timelines.

(Is this late? Oops. Sorry!)
12: Favourite character to write about this year
Stephanie Brown, easy. She's my spirit animal, so I might be doing a touch of projecting, but I honestly don't care. She's just pure chaos in the best way. Some of my favourite lines that I've written are for her. Such as:
"What's up bitches? I brought donuts!"
"My waffles await!"
"FEAR ME!"
"Welcome to Steph’s Glitter Bomb Palace, Where Snitches get Stitches™! So don’t tell Bruce or I’ll sic Jason on you."
She's also the character I've gotten the most comments on. People really seen to enjoy how I write her!
A close second would be Duke Thomas. Bliss, a fic I wrote for the 2020 Duke Week, was one of my favourites! Or maybe Damian? His dialogue just comes easy to me.
21: Most memorable comment/review
the batfamily exist:
everyone: is,,is that allowed?
On Code Orange (Batfam/Young Justice Crossover)
*Or*
I have wanted to read a DCU/MCU crossover for a VERY long time. This story is such a delight. Your characterisation (and for me an introduction to The Signal) was fascinating in the extreme. I loved the game playing and the fact that I could watch (open-mouthed) as Bruce Wayne enjoyed childlike fun with his children and Alfred(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) was the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake. I look forward to your updates in a way that you wouldn't believe.
On Batfam/Avengers Crossover
19: Any new fics to start next year
Oh boy. So many. You know what? Here's a list. It'll be good to get these ideas out. Plus, you guys can tell me what you'd rather see first!
Gen/just Batfam
Crack fic based off this piece of dialogue (came from a convo between my sister and I): Tim reached forward and poked Duke's face. "You're right!" He exclaimed. "You really *do* squish like a block of wood!" Duke Centric.
Based on THIS Incorrect Quotes. Talia moves into the Manor because she's sick of Ra's. Featuring a bunch of good mom!Talia.
Based off THIS Incorrect Quotes. Jason runs for President as Red Hood. I have so many ideas! This'll be really fun.
Loosely based on THIS post. It explores Jason and Cassandra's relationship, and how it evolves.
Duke Thomas Big Bang Fic (can't say much, but it'll be great!)
Platonic (need to be certain you understand that. There were some misconceptions w/ my Discord server) Slow Burn between Tim and Damian. At the beginning the absolutely despise each other. But over time they realise their own insecurities, and how they don't actually hate the other. And by the end they fully admit and embrace their being brothers.
Reverse Robins with Damian as the oldest (I made THIS post talking about it a while back. But I've highly revised it.)
Reverse Robins with Duke as the oldest (I wrote THIS fic, but I think I want to change this into a series!)
Cassandra as Batman. Stephanie as Catwoman. Carrie Kelley as Robin.
5 Times Bette Kane was the mastermind behind the batkids' pranks without Bruce's knowledge, and 1 Time her brilliance was brought to light.
5 Times Duke thought that he couldn't possibly get any more siblings and 1 Time he met the cousins (AKA: Duke meets the extended family)
Birdflash
Birdflash in the JL/JLU universe (based off that one hexagon by @novaviis ! Super fun!). The league is inviting potential members to the Watchtower one day. Except Wally wasn't there during the choosing of said members. So he's completely shocked when his husband Nightwing shows up. They have to act like they don't know each other, which basically involves Dick flirting his butt off with Wally, Wally trying desperately to remain professional, Bruce digging in the corner, the rest of the League in varying degrees of disapproval and confusion (at least a couple have seen Wally's wedding ring. So that adds a while 'nother layer).
Young Justice soulmate au. Dick, and eventually everyone else, knows that Wally is his soulmate. Wally is oblivious. Lots of pining and angst in this one. Slow burn to an extent (depends on how long I make it). But definitely a happy fluffy ending in sight!
Batfam Meets Young Justice
THIS fic.
Duke gets yeeted into the YJ universe, and promptly passes out. He wakes up in the Watchtower, and breaks out of the confinement the Team has set up for him. Pulls shenanigans (some unwittingly) and used his powers. The Team and JL are confused, and panicking. Because this guy keeps muttering things about the Batfam. And he has a bat on his chest.
The Team break into some ancient temple after getting info on a new Supervillian plot. They find purple clothed woman draped across a throne. She talks, and they panic, as she knows all their secret identities. The only one who isn't, is Tim. He looks bored. Alternatively: Steph needs Tim's credit card to take his sister out on a date, and absolutely refuses to text.
While the Team is on a mission to stop Lady Shiva, a dimensional portal opens up and spits out a strange Robin (Damian) and what seemed to be a female Batman (Cass as Black Bat). This new dynamic due promptly defeats Lady Shiva and all the goons. The Team is freaked out, and 'apprehends' the dimensional anomalies, bringing them back to the Watchtower. Where the due promptly break and and start chaos. Featuring "Toxic" by Britney Spears. I will not explain why.
The Watchtower gets a sudden emergency message from the Batcave. They accept, to find a stranger calling himself Signal panicking about Robin being missing. They all look at Tim, who ignores them, and says that he doesn't know where Robin is. Some naming shenanigans occur.
(Not sure if this fits here, oh well) Set in Season One, Bruce is tired of Clark's attitude towards Superboy, and adopts the clone himself. Not sure how far this'll go, but at least goes through Dick's time as Robin. (Based on THIS Tumblr post)
(Also iffy on placement) a continuation of one (not sure which? Probably Damian as older) Reverse Robins fics. It's a retelling of Season One of YJ, with Dick as Robin. Nightwing (Damian) feels protective of his brother, and so takes on the role Black Canary had in the show, training the Team. But as time goes on, he ends up being more of a big brother to the group. Cameos from the rest of the Batfam as well! And an Identity Reveal (including finding out Dick and Dami are brothers) at the end!
Batfam Meets the Justice League
Cass takes over being Batman for a bit, because Bruce was an idiot and broke his leg. This happens to line up with when the Justice League reach out to the Dark Knight, in order to extend an invitation to the league. They eventually meet Bruce as Batman, and are confused as to why he is so tall. And male.
Joyfire
Lian accidentally reveals her three parents' relationship by calling Bruce 'grandpa' over dinner.
Museum Heist
THIS fic
Operation: Seduce Nightwing. Based on a post for an ATLA ot3, Wally and Artemis realise silumaneously “Hey, we kinda have the hots for Dick” and decide together to see if he likes them back. Which involves a heck ton of over the top flirting, and shenanigans. The Team is sighing on the sidelines at their idiocy. Dick is internally combusting and thinking “Do they like me back? I’’m not sure.”
5 times Dick and Wally fought over being the middle spoon, and one time Artemis had had enough.
Set in Season 3 (but ignores some canon), Bart is kidnapped by some mad scientist obsessed with the Speed Force. The Team mobilizes, and gets Bart back from the evil base. But when they get there, they find Wally West freed from the Speed Force. He and Artemis reunite, and everyone is happy. They prepare to leave. Then the Pick-up Squad arrive in the bioship, and Dick gets out. Everyone is expecting Dick to give Wally a hug, because hey, he's his best friend! What they weren't expecting was him to run forward and pull the speedster into a passionate kiss. They go back to the Watchtower, and some more stuff happens.
Soulmate AU where the first thing your soulmate says to you after they fall in love with you is tattooed on your body.
Post Season Two Get Together. Starts with Artemis living with Dick as opposed to Will. Might be Slow Burn? (They come pretty close to kissing) Eventually Wally comes back. Arty and Wally are back together. They both live in the same house as Dick, for convenience. Then some more Slow Burn happens. Maybe some Birdflash moments. Arty tells Wally she kinda had a thing for Dick. Wally admits the same. Maybe a touch more Slow Burn. They Eventually get together.
Batlantern
AU where Bruce met Hal back when he first came back to Gotham. Fic goes through how their relationship evolves over the years (up until current time, when Damian is 13). I'm considering a relationship reveal with the Justice League.
Hal's interactions with Bruce's kids.
Green Lantern Corp acting protective of Hal when Bruce comes to Oa. This was an ask that I got, and I'm holding off on writing it till I get as much into on the GL's as possible, as all I know if their characterization comes from that animated series, and Guy Gardener's (Hilarious!) parts on Young Justice.
Marvel
Like 3 different versions of the Peter Parker Field Trip to Stark Tower Trope.
2-part Crossover with the Batfam (they exist in the same universe), where the Avengers go to a Wayne Gala, and interact with the family. The second chapter involves them heading out the next night to try and contact Batman.
THIS fic.

for a sad prompt or idea(if it’s not you’re style or not comfortable you don’t have to do it)
Tim who’s been stressing and stuggling with his place in the batfam after Bruce came back. Like he and Dick never talked about the whole replacing Tim with Damian and calling him crazy. Like Tim who’s tired of being bullied by Damian, called replacement and Pretender by Dick, not getting acknowledged like his brothers by Bruce. Tim just sad realizing no one cares about him and this isn’t home anymore. So he goes back to Drake Manor and no one notices. Like Tim goes back to his empty childhood home sad and something happens and the family realizes that they didn’t treat Tim right and they feel guilty....idk just sum sad Tim and guilty batfam
I hope you like this, I tried my best and ik I kinda did a lazy ending but hey, it's self indulgent.
Tim was getting tired of it all.
Tim was tired of it all.
At first, he understood. It can be hard to come into a new setting with a bunch of people you feel the need to compete with, so he understood where Damian was.
He understood that at times, Dick's humor was weird. He didn't mean anything by it.
He understood everyone being busy and the entire family being chaos incarnate.
He didn't understand why he was being ignored. It was like he never existed. His siblings, once loud and inclusive, had now kept to their own groups within the family, none of which included Tim.
Duke was nice, but it was kind of hard to hang out with someone who was feeling sympathetic for him and his loneliness. It's not pity, he had to remind himself.
He tried hanging out with them, he really did. He tried to ask Dick about his police work, which ended in Dick being reminded of police paper-work that he had yet to finish. He tried going to Jason only to get a scoff and a
"yeah right, go bother someone else, replacement."
He didn't want to even bother with Damian, knowing that the boy would just glare at him and insult him. So he went to Cass & Stephanie, who promptly kicked him out because they were having a "private girl moment", aka talking shit about everyone and everything. He didn't have the energy to do that today anyway.
The next person he went to was Bruce, busy as always.
"Hey Bruce?"
"Hm?"
"Can you help me with some CEO stuff?"
"......Sorry, Tim. I'm really busy with this paperwork, but I'll help you later, okay?"
".........yeah. Okay."
He would've helped Alfred cook, but that was the only personal time he got away from this mess of a family. Alfred deserved his personal time.
After about two days of "No, Tim", and "Go away, Tim", or "Sorry, Tim, not right now", he was done. He went upstairs. Grabbed his bags, packed them, and walked down the stairs.
'This is their last chance,' he thought to himself, walking just a little bit slower in hopes that someone, anyone, would notice and say "Tim, stop!", "Tim, don't leave!", "We love you, Tim!". But alas, no such luck. He reached the front doors without so much as a "Hey!".
So he left. We walked down the ridiculously long road, down the ridiculously long street, and back to the beginning of his life. His nightmarish, sad, apparently lonely, life.
Drake Manor. Cold and empty as always, but at least he didn't have to pretend to be alone. He actually was alone, now. Fuck.
It took two days for Bruce to sit down at dinner and ask,
"Where's Tim?"
This of course started a panic. Searching the manor from top to bottom, looking around town, asking his school friends about him. Nobody found anything. Just as Jason grabbed his helmet, wanting to go interrogate someone who wouldn't even know where his brother was, Dick's eyebrows shot up and he gasped.
"What?!"
".....Drake Manor." Bruce nodded sadly,
"He's probably there. Let's go."
They found him, they talked, Tim yelled, a lot of people cried, and they ended the long night with an even longer hug. They each said they were sorry and Bruce told him he would never be ignored again.
'That therapy sounds pretty good right about now.' Tim though as he walked back to Wayne Manor, family surrounding him on all sides.

Jelly Bean (Batfam x toddler!Batsis)
Warnings: Kidnapping, Angst, Psycho Word count:~2835 Summary: (Don’t wanna spoil)
You loved school.
Learning new things, spending time with your friends, playing on the playground and having fun in general. It was awesome. So, like everyday, you basically jumped out of your bed when Alfred woke you up, got dressed in a violet princess-y dress with a bat-symbol on the chest-part which Duke has given you as an I-hope-you-accept-me-as-your-brother-gift (you did) -it soon became your favourite dress and you wore it at least once every two weeks much to your fathers dismay and all your other siblings delight, you don't really know why- and hurried down to join your family at breakfast. You, being your usual cheery self, happily told Damian about the dream you had, while eating the scrambled eggs Alfred had placed before you, not noticing the tiredness of all your siblings, even though your aura alone made them happier and a bit less-tired, since even your excitement about so little things, like the fact that you met a talking cucumber sandwich in your dream, was contagious. When you'd finished eating you hopped into the car (with a little help from Alfred), wiggling the whole way to your primary school and basically ran to your class after hugging Alfred goodbye. Being a first grader was great. No tests, no grades and only nice teachers. One of those teachers was Miss Tanser, your class' teacher and one of the nicest persons you knew. She always joked during lessons, sang catchy songs with the class and never got angry or furious about anything. That was also why she was your favourite, which was the reason for you being extra happy that it was Wednesday. Wednesday meant you would have Miss T in the last two periods and she ends the class with jelly beans like she always did on Wednesdays. The time flew by and soon enough you sat beside one of your friends in the first row of math class, listening to Miss T talking about addition and subtraction, doodling small bats -your favourite animals- in your exercise book when the bell rung. "I guess that's it for today kids," Miss T said, went back to her desk and pulled out a bag of heart-shaped jelly beans. She went through the rows, from the back to the front, giving everyone a bean, until she arrived in front of you, sticking her hand into the bag. When she took it out again, it was empty. "I'm really sorry, but I think that was the last of it." A small pout made its way onto your face and you looked at the desk in front of you, slightly sad, but when you heard Miss T clap you looked up at her smiling. "You know what, I think I still have a bag of them in my car. How about we quickly run over to it and I'll give you a jelly bean." You smiled and nodded, packing your stuff up in record time. Patiently, -since you knew that it was Harper's turn to pick you up and bring you to your violin class (and she always took quite a bit to arrive at your school)- you stood beside the door and waited for Miss T, who still needed to clean her desk up.
When Miss T and you arrived at her car, she opened it up, reached into the glove compartment and came back with a hand full of normal shaped jelly beans in intense green-ish colour. You picked one out and smiled at her, but before you were able to say thanks she said: "If you don't tell the others, you can have all of them. Those are my favourites." At first, you were a bit hesitant, but when you saw her encouraging smile you took the beans. "Thank you very much Miss Tanser," you said politely, slipping two of the sweets into your mouth. They tasted kinda strange, but as they were Miss T's favourites you didn't want to offend her with not eating them and so you just took them all in your mouth and quickly chewed and swallowed them. You turned around, wanting to go back to the front of the school and wait for Harper when you suddenly felt dizzy. Before you even registered what happened, you stumbled onto the floor only to be picked up by someone, not being able to see who before everything went black.
(Back at the Bat-cave) Harper was sitting in the cave sobbing, surrounded by the whole Bat-Family, telling everything she knew. When she arrived at your school, she wasn't greeted by you as she usually was. A bit confused, she searched through the school and asked everyone she met, only to be met with ignorance. "I-I sho-sho-should have been there earlier," she said after she finally calmed down enough. "It's not your fault," Bruce said, even though he was basically going mad on the inside, not bearing the thought of losing you. He just couldn't. Ever since your Mum, Selina Kyle, set you down at the front step of the manor, saying that she didn't want you to grow up as she did and that she'd still be there for you, just not as much as before, he was head's over heels for you (in a platonic way). Your little smile brightened up his days and your innocent was his anchor in the great, deep sea of darkness that was his mind nowadays. He had lost so much in his life, he couldn't lose you too. Gotham couldn't lose you. You weren't only his anchor, you were the city's as well. In those time's of depression, you were the ray of hope that made the civilians hold on and believe in a better future. But if you were gone... Bruce couldn't imagine what would become off him and this city. Dick wasn't any better. He knew that you were the glue that kept this family together. No matter how bad things went, how hard Tim and Damian fought or how pissed Jason was at Bruce, a single look at you made them calm down and overthink their decisions. They just couldn't bear the thought of making you sad or not being able to see you if they messed up bad enough. You were the heart and the soul of the family, without you everything that had been build up, Damian finally calling the others his 'brothers' (even though very rarely), Tim sleeping at least three hours a night, Jason joining the team again and even playing along with Bruce's rules, Cass feeling included and loved, Duke feeling like he belongs to this family, Steph and Harper having people to talk to even in their darkest times and Babs having been able to work through her Trauma and getting back to her old-self, would be gone. Leaving behind a broken family and even more broken people inside it. Jason was angry...no. Not angry, furious. He wanted to tear apart whoever or whatever was the reason for your absence. You were with distance his most favorite sibling. No matter how dark his times, one look at you and he felt like it was worth it. Like everything he's been through was worth it as long as he knew you were safe in his vicinity. But now you weren't. And he wanted to burn the world down to get you back. Tim was slightly numb. His sleep-deprived mind hasn't quite caught up to the fact that you were, indeed, missing. You couldn't be. You were always there. How could anything happen to you, Gotham's little Angel, cutest Baby for five years in a row (and most likely next year first time 'cutest child'). It was impossible, at least in Tim's eyes. Soon enough he'd realize what was happening and he, too, would go crazy in worry. Damian was quite similar to Jason. He was burning with fury, but deep inside, somewhere only you had a place, he was 'so'-close to crying. You were the first person he was truly able to love. The first person he let into his heart, not regretting it for one second. Without you he'd still be the bratty-little-devil he was when he came to Bruce (he's still a bit bratty but in an acceptable way). He couldn't lose you now. In fact, he couldn't ever lose you. It would break him. Cass was dying inside. She loved you with all her heart. You couldn't leave her like that. She was supposed to watch you grow up, teach you how to dance and make you the best fighter there ever was, even better than herself. She was supposed to keep you safe and sound, she would never forgive herself if you were hurt. Steph was also furious, who dared to take you away from her? From all off them? You were her first sister and she wouldn't let anything happen to you. How would she ever pair you off with a cute dude/girl (that she had checked at least ten times over) on her wedding, if you weren't alive by then? How would she ever make your hair and make up for your first school-prom and glare (with her other siblings) at the boy (or the girl) who would take you? All those sister moments would possible never happen and alone the thought of that made her want to cry. Harper felt extremely guilty. If only she'd been there sooner. If only she'd come in a car instead of the bus like she usually did... If only... All those scenarios went through her head, all of them ending with your safety, making her believe it was truly her fault that you were missing now. How could she ever forgive herself, how could her (new) family ever forgive her? If you won't come back, she wouldn't be able to stay anymore. Duke was not any better. He'd only had you as his sister for a short term of time but if anything would happen to you he'd try to kill everyone and then himself. You were his connection to the 'real'-life. You were keeping him grounded in this new (admittedly exciting) vigilante-life. How would he get through that without you?
Bruce and Tim searched through every data bank and looked at the security footage from the area around your school, while the rest of the Family was strolling through the city, searching everywhere for you and Alfred was waiting for a blackmail call with conditions to get you back. Nothing. No call, Nothing. It seemed like you never left the school, but since Cass and Damian had looked through every corner in the school twice, that was impossible. Even though he knew that his Family could do a better job, Bruce was just about to call the Gotham Police Department, when finally: A call. It wasn't what they expected but still helped. Now Every second was counting.
(Back with you)
You were shivering from fear as you sat in the room that was decorated for someone your age. Usually, you would have found it fantastic, but right now you wanted nothing more than to be back at home with your Daddy and your siblings. You had woken up in the trunk of a car, tied up, unable to move and still a little bit dizzy.
When the car stopped and you heard a door open, you closed your eyes and pretended that you were asleep. When the trunk was opened, the cold air surrounded you and made goose-bumps appear on your skin. They got even more intense when two soft arms grabbed you and pulled you out to the car, carrying you somewhere (you were too afraid to open your eyes). But before she was able to carry you far, you remembered something you Aunt Babs had once told you. It was a fairy-tale. Hansel and Gretel, who were brought to the forest with the intend off them getting lost, but they managed to find their way back through a trace they'd left. Not sure what else to do, you carefully ripped your bracelet (that you Dad had given you for the emergency, with his private and Mobil number engraved) off of your arm, trying to be as discreet as possible and let it fall to the floor. You could only hope it would be of some help. A few seconds later you were set down onto a bed, but you let your eyes closed until you heard a door close. That's how you've found yourself in this room. You've already tried to open the door and the window (which was darkened), but they wouldn't budge. Tears welled up in your eyes and you curled up in one of the corners in the room, sobs shaking your body. That's when someone opened the door. You looked up to see Miss Tanser staring down at you and for a second hope flooded you. "I don't know what happened," you sobbed, sitting up slightly, "Please, can you please bring me home?" She smiled, ducked down to your level and hugged you, making you cry into her shoulder. "But you are home, sweetie?" she said, almost hurting you with how hard she hugged you. "What?" you squeaked and tried to wiggle your way out of her arms. "This isn't my home. My home is with my Daddy." She immediately let you go and moved back, staring at you with such a delusion in her eyes that even you -a five-year-old- could recognize it. "No sweetie," she started and caressed your cheek, causing you to lean away, "This is your home. With me. Your Mummy." Utter confusion filled you. "What? My Mummy is away with my Auntie's." Miss T chuckled coldly. "No No No. I don't know why you believe that. I am your Mummy. You've been taken from me for a while, but now we're back together and I'll make sure that you'll never be taken away from me again." You violently shook your head and made fists with your little hands. "No! I wasn't taken away. I want my real Mummy and my Daddy," you cried, letting your temper get the best off you. You felt a sharp pain at the side of your face, causing tears to slip down your cheeks, not yet understanding that your favorite teacher had just slapped you. "I AM YOUR MOTHER! AND UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND THAT, YOU'LL BE GROUNDED IN YOUR ROOM!" she screamed and rushed out of the room, locking the door after her. Crying, even more, you curled up again, falling asleep from all the drama and the exhaustion.
You woke up from the sounds that reminded you off those movies that Jason always watched or those video games that Dick and Tim played. Scared, you hid under the small desk in the room, when you heard Miss Tanser scream: "YOU CAN'T TAKE HER AWAY FROM ME! SHE BELONGS TO ME! NO ONE WILL EVER SE-" there was a loud thump and she stopped screaming, but before you could come out, another thump was hear-able but way closer and louder. "Y/N?" you heard someone shout, followed by footsteps in the room. You tried to stay silent, not knowing what to do, but you couldn't hold back the small whimpers that escaped you. The footsteps got louder and you curled up, even more, closing your eyes when a shadow fell over you. "It's okay, we're here to bring you back to your family," a deep, but a slightly familiar voice said. You opened your eyes and were greeted by the face of the one and only Batman. "Can you please come out?" You thought about it for a second but slowly shook your head. "Why not?" the hero asked you softly. "I-I want my Daddy," you whimpered scared. Batman sighed and raised his hand, causing you to flinch and close your eyes in fear. But, instead of what you expected, he spoke again, saying: "It's me, princess. Can you please look at me?" The voice sounded now exactly like the one of your father. You looked up, expecting Batman, but seeing your Dad instead. "Daddy?" you asked confused. "You're Batman?" "Yes. And I'm so sorry that I couldn't be here sooner," he said, his eyes slightly watery. Immediately you came out from the desk and hugged him as hard as you could. "Shaqiqa," you heard someone shout and another pair off arms grabbed you and you were hugged. You looked up to see Robin look at you with relieve, but you only knew one person who called you 'Shaqiqa'. You raised your hand and put it on his cheek. "Dami?" you asked and he just sheepishly smiled at your father. "It's okay. We'll explain to you everything when we're back home, okay princess?" Bruce said, taking you from Damian and carrying you out of the psycho's house, careful to not let you see the riot that they'd caused in the rush to get you. All of your siblings, even Bruce, decided to start your training now, that they'd never feel as helpless as they'd fell today.

My dream Batman trilogy coz The Batman trailer got me thinking.
Also putting everything under the cut because a) it’s probably gonna be kinda long and b) it’s overwhelmingly self-indulgent introduction of batkids with a side of plot
Movie 1
The world has progressed past the need for another origin movie so we're jumping in with an Under the Red Hood adaptation
As well as obviously including Bruce and Jason, Dick is there as Nightwing, Babs is Oracle and Tim is Robin
Usual Red Hood I'd on the scene taking over the criminal underground and gangs stuff
We're going with the Talia yeeted Jason into the pit storyline here and at some point Bruce visits Talia after the whole initial suspicions of Red Hood being Jason thing and as well as getting info there's definitely strong references to them last meeting 10yrs ago
And obviously Jason didn't die 10yrs ago, they parted ways and Talia tried to help as a means of bridging the gap between them again (which obviously didn't work)
Whilst Bruce is away current batkids deal with Jason 'I've been fucking replaced' drama as Red Hood goes after Robin
Bruce comes back afterwards we get into the final Batman-Joker-Red Hood showdown
Then idk something happens - I don't think Jason or Bruce should actually kill Joker in this but I do want that pasty bitch to die because I don't want to fucking deal with him in a later movie
So anyways idk something happens, the GCPD shows up post a (sort of) resolution being met between Bruce and Jason then Joker tries to pull some shit and idk man maybe like Commissioner Gordon just fucking shoots him because man is tired and it's what Joker deserves
Also speaking of Gordon I'm 99% sure I've consumed DC content with Jim knowing the batfam identities and I support that dynamic so that's also a thing here
Anyway end of the movie, Jason is back not actively trying to kill his family members, Joker is dead as he deserves
Then POST CREDIT SCENE! We're back with Talia and oh look a child. Yes, of course it's Damian and Talia has decided it's finally time for him to meet his father whoo!
Movie 2
Okay this is a little while later - only change is Damian is now Robin and Tim is Red Robin
So Joker is dead and Red Hood is no longer a crime lord controlling all the gangs as per the last movie - there's now a massive power vacuum in the criminal circles of Gotham and, as such, there's a big old power struggle going on
Anyway there are factions and someone is orchestrating a grab for power using various others
Within such others are Cluemaster/Arthur Brown and David Cain... Yes you know where this is going
A new cape is on scene going by the name Spoiler, she's leaving clues to plans and schemes which lead to Cluemaster's arrest and generally disrupt the main plan of whoever is orchestrating it in the background
That batfam catch up with Spoiler and end up working with her
Searching for more information of the grand plan (because who actually trusts Cluemaster with everything? Steph only has bits and pieces of the big stuff) they come across a girl. And yes it is Cass.
Anyway fight scene showing off how awesome Cass but it ends quick as she sees they’re defending themselves more than trying to hurt her
Congrats Bruce, it’s a girl!
So anyway detective stuff, detective stuff then WHAM there’s the big plan it’s coming to fruition and they’ve all gotta stop it.
Obviously they go, there’s a cool fight with them all working together and they win.
I don’t actually know who’s orchestrating this all - part of me wants to say it’s Riddler because I love Eddie and, I mean, in the animated Hush adaptation we have seen his ability to manipulate others to carry out his own plan plus considering the War of Jokes and Riddles happened the idea of Eddie kinda taking Joker’s place as ‘top rogue’ after the pasty bitch goes to hell seems quite satisfying to me
Regardless, everything seems good, the batfam has won and grown and everything seems good
Then (possibly as a post-credit?) everything goes dark. There’s the sound of fighting but the audience sees nothing. Light returns. There’s a couple restrained Talons now visible. But there’s also someone not visible. Batman is gone.
Movie 3
We start with a montage - Gotham is once more in chaos, this time though its because of the lack of a Bat
The batkids are grieving, they're struggling to cope with both the chaos of Gotham criminals generally and the emergence of the Court of Owls
There's also more internal conflict with Time being adamant that Bruce is alive and the others being more realistic which leads to Tim bailing on them a la Red Robin (2009)
Anyway, Alfred sees his grandkids going through shit and is determined to not let them meet the same fate as his son so he starts the We Are Robin inititative - people who are fighting back against the crime and corruption of Gotham and, in turn, thereby helping assist the batfam so they can focus on the Court
This stuff is more expository than being the actual plot of the movie and is ran through fairly quickly, probably montage style, so we can catch up with the main whatever of the movie.
So, two individuals who joined We Are Robin go like above and beyond I suppose, gaining the batfam’s attention and becoming vigilantes themselves - these are Duke Thomas (of course) and Harper Row (because I want to include her)
Since Gotham always need a Batman but also they need to focus efforts of the Court of Owls, the kids devise a rota. They rotate between Dick as Batman w/ Damian as Robin (because duh), Jason as Batman w/ Steph as Robin (because I think that would be neat) and then Cass as Batman w/ Harper and Duke as her Robins (because a) I love her dynamice with each of them individually and b) she deserves to be Batman)
On days they aren’t Batman and Robin-ing they work, led by Oracle, to trace down the HQ of the Court of Owls - any field work being carried out in their usual aliases
Meanwhile Tim, all on his lonesome because boy has issues, is also working against the Court and trying them (the diff being his motivation is more get Bruce, prove he’s alive whilst the others are more influenced by the stop evil owl bitches sentiment)
Anyway Tim finds the Court and good news: Bruce is alive, just captured but bad news: Tim is also captured because whilst he’s good he’s not beat a ton of Talons alone good and the idiot should have got backup
Shortly after this the others get a breakthrough and find the Court - they also discover that Tim has been caught by them. So them we cue final fight - they come up with a great plan and then they sneak in and take down the Court, Tim and Bruce and back
The End. They all finally get a well-deserved holiday.
#the overall coherency of these as full plots is debatable but uhhh at least it's not another Bruce is lonely dipstick and Alfred is having#to deal with his bullshit alone movie - instead it's a there's a horde of batidiots but they're never all idiots silmultaneously so Alfred#isn't deal with them alone and also he can be all oh wonder what that's like /s when Bruce is being like my kids are idiots#bruce wayne#dick grayson#tim drake#barbara gordon#jason todd#damian wayne#stephanie brown#alfred pennyworth#duke thomas#harper row#cass cain

Show Me How You Burlesque
pairing: Batfam x Female!reader
[ part one ] [ part three ] [ part 4.0 ]
plot: Burlesque AU : After graduating college, [Y/N] becomes a dancer at The Dark Knight, a prestigious Burlesque club located in Gotham City as a way to stay on her feet while trying to find a ‘proper job’
warnings: sexual implications, cursing
tags: @memento-scribet @4evahevah @dc-hoe @freethecagedeggs
words: 4180
a/n: sorry this is late! My life is been a bit hectic lately with a few assignments due the past week and for the next month I’m pretty busy with assignments and end of year stuff for college, but I will try and have chapter 3 up within the next week or two, depending on when I get free time. Also, remember to take the poll on who reader should end up with! As it currently stands, Jason is in the lead with 41% of the vote and Tim is second with 37% of the vote.
Here is a list of the batfam’s position in the club;
Bruce Wayne - owner
Alfred Pennyworth - manager
Dick Grayson - choreographer
Barbara Gordon - social media, advertising, websites - former dancer
Jason Todd - security
Tim Drake - stage design, special effects
Stefanie Brown - dancer
Cassandra Cain - dancer
Damian Wayne - no job, behind the scenes
Duke Thomas - music/dj
Kate Kane - bar
Helena Bertinelli - table dancer, bar
Harper Row - costume and makeup, special effects.
After being told that she would be the new dancer, [Y/N] was lead into the back and to Mr.Wayne's office in order to go over some legal documents that included her contract, insurance policies, and confidentiality agreements because apparently some heavy hitters from the Gotham social and political circle liked to frequent the club and they needed their secrecy.
Their meeting didn’t take too long and when it was completed, [Y/N] was lead to the costume and makeup department by the child she had previously met earlier, this time he had introduced himself as Damian Wayne and he was Bruce’s son that tended to help behind the scenes with the recruitment and keeping things runnings by helping where it was needed.
Here she was meet with a young woman who had electric blue hair and a measuring tape around her neck, with her hands skipping through outfits that were hanging on a rail a few feet away from the many vanity mirrors that were lined against the wall opposite the door she had walked through.
“Row.” Damians voice cut through the air and caused the young woman to look around with a displeased look on her face and an eyebrow raised, “Yes Damian?”
Motioning towards [Y/N], who now looked slightly uncomfortable as the two people with her stared each other down with a slight look of disdain on both of their faces, Damian spoke with a stiff voice, “This is [Y/N] she’s the new dancer.” Now he turned to walk away, only to speak once again before actually walking out the door, “Father wants you to take her measurements so you can prepare costumes for her. The first one for tomorrow nights performance.”
Looking between the two, [Y/N] was slightly panicked. She knew she was starting soon, but the next night wasn’t expected and Bruce didn’t say anything to her about a starting day but she guesses tomorrow night wasn’t too bad.
Harper now looked at the girl for the first time since she walked into the room and she had a small smile on her face as she did, her eyes scanning her body up and down and this caused a blush to rise on [Y/N]’s check as she watched ‘Rows’ eyes wander. The blue haired girl walked towards her with the smile still on her face as she reached up to take the measuring tape off her neck.
“I’m Harper, I’m in charge of costumes and makeup. I also help Tim with the special effects of the show. So fireworks, smoke machine that sort of thing. I need you to take your clothes off “ [Y/N] he removed her clothes slowly and shyly as Harper removed the measuring tape from around her neck and wrapped it around [Y/N]’s waist, pulling her close to her body using the two side of the table before meeting the edge of the tape with the actual tape where it would give an accurate measurement of waist size.
“[waist size], that’s a good size. Now let's get your chest size.” Harper removed the tape from [Y/N]’s waist and wrapped it around her chest, above her boobs, “Can you lift your arms up for me and straighten your back?” Doing as she was told, [Y/N] failed to suppress her blush as it brightened as Harper’s hands wrapped around the top of her chest and then around under her boobs to get an accurate measurement for chest size.
“All good. Next is your legs.” Harper moved down [Y/N]’s body, her hand trailing over the side as she did and stopping at her thigh as she now wrapped the measuring tape around her thigh to get its measurement before moving down further to get the measurements for her calf and ankles before measuring her actual leg length. As Harper stood back up, her face was very close to [Y/N]’s face, who happened to have a rather large blush that had spread to the entirety of her face from her cheeks and this caused a smirk to rise on Harper’s face slightly as she stepped back from her position in front of the girl to once again look at costumes.
“You took Barbara’s place, right?” [Y/N] nodded slowly as she started to redress, only to vocalise her response once she realised Harper couldn’t see her responses, “Uh..yeah.”To this Harper nodded and pulled out an outfit, a white bra with diamante stripes on one cup and white material on the other with what looked like leaves sprouting from the back matched with a nude bottom covered with diamantes as well with a sparkling belt that provided a puffy white fabric at the back. “This was supposed to be her costume for tomorrow's performance, the theme for costuming is ‘fairy garden’, for some reason. With a few adjustments it will be ready for you for tomorrow night.”
Nodding, [Y/N] looked over the outfit once again. It was pretty and she was sure she would be able to dance in it, having danced in some extravagant outfits before. “Thank you Harper.” Harper waved her hand, brushing the comment off, “No problem.” Turning towards [Y/N], Harper smiled at her and let her hand fall down, the costume almost hitting the ground as she did, “Hey, don’t worry. Stef and Cas are super nice and Helena is an amazing mentor. You will do fine.” Giving a small smile back to Harper, [Y/N] brushed her hair behind her ear and let out a small sigh, “Thanks.”
[Y/N] jumped slightly as she heard the door slam behind her, she didn’t think whoever entered meant to slam the door, but they did in their haste to enter the room. A deep chuckle left the lips of the person who had entered and a voice that [Y/N] recognised as Dick Grayson spoke to her and apologised for scaring her, “Sorry about that.”
Turning to look at Dick, [Y/N] shook her head and looked down to the ground and let out a small chuckle, “It’s okay. I just wasn’t expecting that.” Crossing his arms over his chest, Dick looked down at the smaller girl and smiled at her. “Come on. Bruce wants me to run through tomorrow night’s routines with you to let you see it and then he wants me to go over it with you again most of tomorrow before the club opens to make sure you have the routine down”
Nodding, [Y/N] turned once again and said goodbye to Harper before following Dick out onto the main stage area, which was connected to the costume and makeup room from one side while the control panel for the lights and special effects were on the other side. On this side stood a man, smaller than Dick with slightly broad shoulders and dark hair that matched that of Bruce, Dick, and Damian and he was fiddling around with something under the control panel. “Tim!”
It seemed he was deep in thought, or deep in fixing something to the point where he wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings and jumped at the sound of his, apparent, name which caused him to bump his head against the control panel. He came up to look at Dick, who was biting his lip to stop from laughing, with a hand rubbing his head where he hit it and his mouth spurting a few curses at the panel and at Dick.
“What’s up?” Dick crossed his arm over his chest and used one hand to motion to [Y/N] before returning it to it’s original position over his chest. “This is [Y/N], out new dancer. Why don’t you come over and introduce yourself?”
‘Tim’ now moved his hand from his head and walked towards the duo on the stage with a sheepish smile, reaching his hand out when he got to the two. “I’m Tim Drake. It’s nice to meet you [Y/N].” Letting a smile spread across her face, [Y/N] took Tim’s hand and shook it, “Nice to meet you to Tim.”
Tim then moved back to his position behind the control panel and [Y/N] turned around to face Dick as he explained to her what was going to be shown to her. “Okay, so tomorrow. You will be doing a group dance with all the other dance, a trio dance with Cassandra and Stefanie who used to do the trio dance with Barbara and a solo dance.”
____
“Yes mom….I’m fine.” Moving around her kitchen, [Y/N] spoke to her mother on the phone with a roll of her eyes almost every second as she listened to her mother's voice on the other line, with the occasional input of her father. Reaching up to lift a mug out of her cupboard, [Y/N] let out a sigh, “Yeah...the jobs going fine.”
Of course, the job they were talking about wasn’t the job she actually had but the job her parents had arranged for her to have that she quit before even starting because it wasn’t what she wanted. “Love you too mom.” As she lifted the teapot from its position on the stove and started to pour her tea into her cup she heard her father fussing about how the job they had got for her was perfect for her. “Dad….Dad I have to go. My roommate needs help moving some things into her room.”
She rolled her eyes once again as her mother, for the 12 time during their phone call, told her how proud she was off her and how much she loved her. “Ye-yea-yeah mom. I know. Love you, gotta go.” Hanging up her phone, she placed it screen down on the counter and lifted her mug, taking a sip of her tea and throwing her head back slightly in contentedness when she pulled the mug from her lips.
“Good day?” [Y/N] turned to face her roommate, a tall redhead with a love of flowers who worked as a successful botanist who only took on a roommate at the request of a friend. Nodding, a smile took over [Y/N]’s lips, “It was a very good day Ivy.” Her roommate, Dr.Palmela Isley, went by Ivy because her love of her flowers gained her the nicknames while she was still in college.
“I got the job at The Dark Knight and meet a cute guy and girl.” Palmela smiled and walked to the cupboard, taking out her own mug and filling it with hot tea, “That’s good. When do you start?”
“Tomorrow night. But I’ll be in practice all day with Dick, the choreographer to get the routine down.” Palmela nodded and took a sip of her tea, it was a herbal tea that she had picked up that day and was actually quite good.
“Congratulations, take it your parents don’t know?” Palmela had known [Y/N]’s mother, having met her previously while attending a lecture with Harley on psychology and became somewhat of a friend to the woman. [Y/N] shook her head and looked to the ground, “No, I don’t know if it’s a permanent solution or not. I’ll look for a job that suits my degree, but the pay's good and if I like it I’ll stay.”
___
The next night, after an intense run through with Dick and the other dancers, including Stephanie and Cassandra who were as nice as Harper said they were, [Y/N] was preparing for her first preparing for the first performance of the night. It was the opening performance that included all the dancers that Bruce had, a total of a dozen or so. The costume was different than the one she had been shown the day before by Harper, she was informed that it was for her solo dance which came after Cassandra’s solo and was followed by Stefanies solo and then their trio dance.
The first costume was a little more basic than the solo costume, it was a simple sparkly leotard that was mesh from under the bob to wear it connects with the underwear with a hold in the side of it that exposed her bellybutton but still looked quite nice and sleek on her.
As she started to apply her makeup in a way that was shown to her earlier by Harper, Stefanie, who had already finished her makeup and looked stunning, came up to her with a smile on her face and placed her hands on her shoulder. “Let me.” With a gentle nod, [Y/N] let Stefanie turn her around to face her and started on her makeup and as she worked conversation flowed between the two.
“So, how long have you been dancing?” The first question was from Stefanie and as [Y/N] moved only her eyes to look to the ceiling so Stefanie could apply some purple eyeliner she answered with a slightly strained voice, “Um...since I was 6.” As Stefanie told her to look straight ahead she did, “My mom is a former ballerina turned psychologist and put me into ballet and gymnastics when I was old enough to start and that developed into me taking on acro dancing in my early teen.”
Stefanie nodded along as she listened to what was being said, “Acro’s my favourite, though I do a lot of aerial work here, I like to always go back to it when I need a reminder of why I dance and why I’m here.” [Y/N] had never done any true aerial work, she had done the simple stuff with the chains the day before but not any real aerial work that put her in harms way and she was fascinated as Stefanie continued to talk about her aerial work and how she did it and how amazing Dick was as a choreographer, really honing in on each girls individual skill for their sets and dances.
“There. All done.” When [Y/N] looked into the mirror, she was slightly amazed as she knew she wouldn’t have been able to do such a good job herself when it came to the makeup. It seemed simple enough, but she knew it wasn’t. It was a dark green eye that blended out into some purples and reds at the edges with some purple eyeliner on the bottom lid with perfect winged eyeliner on the top lid with a simple dark green metallic, and slightly shimmery, lip.
“Thank you Stefanie.” A smile spread to Stefanies lips as she looked over the girl, “It’s not a problem. Here we look for each other and you’re the new girl, so it’s our job to make you feel comfortable here and out there. Best way to do that is with a killer look, so even if you mess up, you look good doing it.” A small chuckled passed [Y/N]’s lips as she looked to Stefanie who extended her hand to the girl, “Now come on. First dance starts soon and we need to be in position.”
Taking Stefanies hand, [Y/N] followed her to where the stage, where the other girls were getting in position. On the stage was 12 chairs, all set equal distances apart and in a set pattern with ties loosely tied around the back for the performance and on each side of the stage, leaning against the stage walls were the dancers. [Y/N] and Stefanie went to the right hand side, closest to the control panel where [Y/N] have Tim a small smile, which he returned. Here they were joined by Cassandra, Stefanies partner in crime, and Helena who would ‘mentor’ [Y/N] and help her with any routines she needed help with, and two other dancers called Tess and Lacy.
As the current went up and the music started,[Y/N] took a deep breath and tried to find her center as she started to dance along with the other girls, starting at the wall and then walking towards her assigned chair that was marked at the back so the audience wouldn’t see it. As she danced, any chance she got she looked out into the audience, slightly amazed at how many people were there and how they all seemed to be enjoying the dance whether they were male or female or whether or not they were with partners or now. The applause she heard, drove her to do better and she got more into the dance, determined to show off and do her best for her first performance. When the dance ended, she took a bow with the rest of the girls before rushing off stage to allow for the first solo performance of the night.
Adrenaline buzzed through [Y/N] veins, she had forgotten how much she loved to perform for a crowd and how much it drove her to do better in her dancing. Helena came up behind her with a smile on her face and she placed her hand on [Y/N]’s shoulder, “You did great out there!” With a smile and a small chuckle, [Y/N] turned to Helena and let out a sigh of relief, “Thank you.”
It was a relief, to know that someone who had been here for so long and was so experienced through they did good, it was a nice feeling. Dick then came up to [Y/N] and congratulated her, and then reminded her that the hardest part was still to come and that was the solo. [Y/N] shook her head and reassured him that she was ready for it, the solo was something she knew, something she had done before because Bruce had insisted she use the choreography she auditioned with, and of course she agreed because it was something she knew and something she had very little chance of messing up having done it so many times.
Now all she had to do was get ready. Sitting down at her vanity, [Y/N] looked into the mirror and saw the beads of sweat start to run down her forehead, not surprising, but it was only a tiny bit of sweat that she was wiping away with her makeup to start on the makeup for her solo and for her performance with Stefanie and Cassandra.
She made quick work of wiping away her makeup and applying fresh makeup, though this one was much simpler than the previous one as it with a simple black lip and white eyeshadow covering both her eyes, as if it was a mask. But, hey, it worked with the costume she had to wear so she wasn’t going to question it, besides she trusted Harper knew what she was doing when she planned all this stuff out. Once she was done with her makeup, she changed into her costume and made her way to the side of the stage and stood beside the control panel, beside Tim, where she could watch Cassandra’s solo.
Cassandra moved so beautifully, her dance was slower than the rest of the girls dances but she moved so fluidly and gracefully that no one really cared. This was her style, her style leaned more towards the contemporary ballet style but was mixed with the sexiness of burlesque and some gogo techniques and it worked so well when she moved that when she finished she was meet with a huge applause, even from her fellow dancers and this left her with a grin on her face as she walked to the side of stage and stood beside [Y/N], reaching down to take her hand and squeezing it gently as she did. “Good luck.” The words were whispered softly into her ear by Cassandra and Tim gave her a thumbs up and a reassuring smile, too busy to talk as her focused on the words coming through on the headphones he wore on his ear.
[Y/N] gave them both a smile as she walked to the stage and to where she would start, she wasn’t starting in the middle of the stage but rather closer to the front where everyone would be able to see her and how she moved, as well as being the location of the chains she needed. As she got in position, letting her hand wrap around the chains, the lack of lights hiding her from the view of the guests, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, waiting for the music to begin. As the music began, she felt the energy of the room change from the graceful bliss that was Cassandra’s performance to a more erotic feel to match her song and dance. She got lost in the music, moving fluidly and quickly between moves and when the dance came to an end the applause she heard was deafening, it seemed that the guests were impressed with the new dancer replacing a crowd favourite. But of course, there was one person in the back simply looking at the stage with a murderous glare as [Y/N] moved, before they stood from their chair, knocking it and a glass over onto the ground causing it to smash as they did.
With a brief bow, [Y/N] moved of the stage and to the side beside Cassandra who congratulated her on a job well done as Stefanie moved to the stage, the chains that previously been there replaced with velvet material that hung in large amounts from the ceiling. Again, [Y/N] watched in awe as Stefanie moved beautiful from her dance on the ground to the dance in the air as Tim moved the fabric higher up, with Stefanie attached to it and moving beautifully. At the end, [Y/N] was sure her heart was going to burst out of her chest as she spun down from the fabric, with the fabric wrapped around her, as it seemed to [Y/N] she didn’t have enough fabric to reach the bottom, but she did, and she spun until she was a foot of the floor and could easily let herself down. Again, she was meet with a deafening applause, like the one received by Cassandra and [Y/N], even from her fellow dancers as she never ceased to impress them when she danced.
Stefanie then walked over to the panel with a smile on her face and her hand strung together in front of her, her fingers locked together, as she rose an eyebrow at [Y/N], “You ready?” Nodding, [Y/N] smiled at the blonde and let out a happy sigh, “Now more than ever.” Stefanie smiled at this and took both [Y/N]’s and Cassandra’s hand, dragging them onto stage as the curtain went down for a moment, letting Tim prepare the stage for their performance, meaning he got rid of the props and the fabric and the chains and anything else that would get in the way of the performance, except the chairs they were using.
The curtain started to lift and the music started to play, and as the lights shined down on the three of them, the dance began. It was a simple dance, compared to the solos they had completed, there wasn’t as many stunts but it was still sexy. In fact, it focused on being sexy instead of showing of the individual skill of the dancers like the solos did, and it worked. Anyone in the crowd would say that it was sexy, and Dick was proud of how it had worked out.
So was Bruce, as Bruce watched on from his position at the bar, having come out during Cassandra’s solo to see how it all went and to see if [Y/N] worked well with Cassandra and Stefanie. Of course, the final dance was shorter than the rest, lasting only a minute, but it was enough to get the crowd riled up a bit more and it still gave him the chance to see how the three moved together and, to Bruce, it seemed like a perfect combination.
As they moved off the stage, taking the chairs with them as the next performance didn’t need them, they were greeted with well dones and [Y/N] was greeted with ‘you did so good!’. And ‘congratulations on a successful first night’.
When the three girls got back into the changing room, the first thing that Stefanie and Cassandra did was wrap [Y/N] up in a hug and congratulated her, telling her how well she did and how she was going to fit right in. However, an unfamiliar voice to broke through them and caused them to silence as they all turned to face it. There before them was a redheaded woman in a wheelchair, [Y/N]] presumed it was Barbara.
“It’s nice to see that they got someone good, with a passion for dancing in to replace me.” She wheeled towards the three and reached a hand out to [Y/N], “Barbara Gordon, you did well kid.”

Damian Wayne as a Father Headcanons
A/N: Reader and Damian are adults in these. I went all out on this, so I really hope you like the structure and everything. Feedback is welcomed. ☺️
(c/n) = child’s name
>>>>——————–>
Damian as a father would include:
Pregnancy: • Damian was excited when you told him he was going to be a father, well as excited as Damian manages to express.
• He had his concerns about whether he was going to be a good father, based on his family background and upbringing he had his doubts. However after reassuring him, that he managed to change and has become a better person his worry subsided.
• Now when he goes out on patrol, he’s more cautious and careful as he now has two people to come home to and protect.
• Whilst you’re pregnant, Damian is extremely over protective with everything. You are not putting yourself in any danger and he’ll make sure of that. He understands he’s being this way and apologised, explaining he doesn’t want either of you hurt since you’re a prime target now.
• Catering to your cravings the best he can. Sort of. “Pennyworth, we need some strawberries and hot sauce?” “We’re currently out of strawberries Master Damian, Miss (Y/n) has cleared them out.” “Ugh, I’ll be back shortly beloved.” “Really? You have to leave me, I know you’re getting stuff for me but I’m kind of annoyed by that and I don’t know why.” “Hormones (y/n).”
• Trying to comfort you when you get emotional, but since Damian isn’t the best at it he comes up with other solutions. “I could punch you right now!” “Beloved, that’d be a stupid move.” “Oh really? Because I love you… a lot and I didn’t mean that!” You were still yelling and you weren’t sure why. “How about throwing some knives instead?” “What?! NO! That’s ridiculous and I’m actually willing to do it. You’re such a good partner for letting me do this.” By your last statement you were crying and pulling him into an embrace.
• Both of you low-key freaking out when the baby kicks and you’re just hugging each other with massive grins on your faces.
• Receiving visits from Damian’s family, all of which are super excited to be apart of it and looking forward to having a new member in the family.
• Dick encouraging Damian that’s he’s going to be a good father.
• Bruce still not quite getting the fact his son has a proper family that’s almost normal, but enjoys it none the less. “Bruce, you know you’re going to be a granddad right?” “Yes of course I do (y/n), Damian is going to be a father and to be honest… it all feels surreal.” “Tell me about it. It’s gonna be great though.” “It truly is.”
Labour: • When your waters broke, Damian was with you since he’d estimated the most likely time it’d happen. This man was prepared, he was still the son of the original Batman.
• Damian drove you to the hospital as soon as possible, not in the Batmobile much to your disappointment but understood there’d be no easy way to explain that.
• Panicking and being exhausted throughout labour and Damian telling you to breathe.
• “Holy shit (y/n)!!!” Damian actually yelped when you squeezed his hand during labour. “You’re not giving birth Dami!” “You’re a lot stronger than I thought.” “Yep, comes with being your significant other for so long! Ah shit!” “Breathe beloved, breathe.”
• With over 10 hours in labour you finally had your child and you were exhausted. “I did it - Dami I -” “I know beloved, you are so strong. I’m proud of you (y/n), I love you so much.” “Love you too.”
• Holding the baby and you simply can’t believe you’ve created something so pure, suddenly you forget all the pain because it was all worth it for this child in your arms.
• Damian holds them next, and is so smitten that you know this child is gonna be spoilt. He almost cried because he thought he was incapable of producing something this innocent, his family do not have a grip on his baby and they never will.
• The rest of the Batfam piling in minutes later hoping to see their new addition. Dick is super enthusiastic about the whole ordeal and sheds a few tears, whilst promising to be the best uncle ever which was open to dispute. Jason was smiling more than ever, saying “It’s up to (y/n) to make sure we don’t get another demon spawn in the family. Right now though, I’m really proud of you two.” Tim making sure you’re alright, asking about names and how much the baby weighs before checking on the others. Bruce is over the moon and is third to hold his grandchild, he’s quick to congratulate you both and offers for you to stay at the manor so they can all help to get you back on your feet. Cassandra doesn’t say anything, instead hugging you tightly with a wide grin on her face then patting Damian on the shoulder who remained by your bedside. “You’ll make a great auntie Cass.” And that only made her smile more.
General Child Raising: > Taking turns to get up in the night when the baby wakes up.
• Morning cuddles because you’re both exhausted.
• The baby getting lots of attention and babysitters consisting of Damian’s family which you’re eternally grateful for.
• Damian still being smitten as you expected, you find yourself leaning on the doorframe and watching the two interact often, a smile making its way onto your face. “Are you alright beloved?” “Y-yeah, it’s nice to be apart of this family.” You soon join the two.
• Damian teaching your child self defence from a young age and you’re not too thrilled with the idea. “Oh my - Damian! Why does (c/n) have a katana?!” “I’m teaching (c/n) how to wield the weapon beloved.” “Y-yeah, couldn’t you have started with a wooden one. A real one isn’t exactly safe for a 5 year old!” “I did. At the age of 3. (C/n)’s skills have developed since then (y/n).” “Oh my gosh. We’re terrible parents!” You yelped, throwing your hands in the air.
• Your child learning about Damian’s culture and heritage as well as your own so they know where to come from and if they want to celebrate any traditions.
• Both of you helping out with homework from school, Damian specialising in Maths.
• Having to come up with crazy explanations as to why their father came through the window in the dead of night looking like Batman. “Is daddy Santa?” “Uh not exactly… It’s more like the tooth fairy?” “We are not saying that beloved, (c/n) I’m Batman - but you can’t tell anyone as this is a family secret.” “Ok Batdad.” You’re child whispered, giggling at the nickname.
• Damian ok with them joining the family business as long as they pass his training resumés. They don’t go out if they’re sick or injured no matter what as this increases the likelihood of reckless behaviour.
• Teaching them the ways of Wayne Enterprises since they’re the future heir now.
• Your child learning about the hero business when they get older and finally accepting their father isn’t the tooth fairy.
• Giving them the choice of whether they want to become a vigilante with you supporting them 100% and Damian teaching them League of Assassins techniques regardless of their decision.
• Joking with you and Damian about becoming a villain because they’re fully equipped to do so but knowing that’s not how they were brought up.
• Them secretly having a favourite uncle but only Damian and yourself know who it is and refuse to tell the others.
• Kate Kane being the go to person for anything LGBT+ related, if your child is in fact an LGBT citizen or not.
• Generally being quite an open family that comes with a few cracks but you’re happy.
If it’s a Boy: • “Looks like there’s a new son of Batman now.” “Indeed there is, I hope he’ll be my successor one day.”
• Father son bonding activities, most of which included one on one training sessions. There a lot of testosterone in your home.
• Play fights all of the time, literally with anyone of his uncles that comes over. Whether it be Dick, Jason, Tim or Duke he’s going to show them the new moves Damian taught him.
• “I’m going to be the next Red Hood. You watch me!” As your son runs around with finger guns yelling ‘pew pew’ at inanimate objects much to your amusement. “I’m going to kill Todd…”
• You’re son actually wanting to have powers like Jon, Supermans son, who visits on some occasions. Though after a long conversation about practicality with his father, (c/n) is convinced he’ll be the next Batman. “Well Superman doesn’t have a Batmobile.” “But he can fly father.” “(C/n) has a point Dami.”
• Your son imitating Damian any chance he gets since he looks up to his father more than he realises. “I am the son of the demon!” “(Y/n), what was that?” “Dick, do you really want to question it? He has Dami’s genes remember.” “That’s who he reminds me of, Damian when he was younger - such a little sh-” Covering Dicks mouth before he could finish that sentence.
• Bruce saying he looks a lot like Damian and is proud of you both for raising your son so well. (C/n) has great manners at Galas when he’s older and is a hit with the ladies. Of course, for now - you’re the most important female in his life until he finds that special someone. Damian couldn’t be more proud. “Meet my parents, Damian and (Y/n) Wayne.” “It’s a pleasure, I hope our son is treating you well.” “Yes, thank you Mrs Wayne.”
If it’s a Girl: • Literally his little princess who he loves dearly.
• Cass coming over to style your daughters hair and spend time with her. Even though Cass isn’t talkative, your daughter speaks enough for the both of them. “Can you do plaits Auntie Cass, like milkmaid ones?” “I bet you can, you’re really good at making hair look pretty.” Cass just kisses her forehead and starts braiding.
• Finding out that she isn’t going to be a girly girl from a very early age. “As I have Batdad, I get to drive the Batmobile when I’m older - maybe I can race!” “I can teach you to drive now princess, I could drive by your age.” “No! Damian, that’s illegal!” “So is vigilantism.” “…”
• Barbara and Stephanie coming over to help out and Stephanie even brought your daughter a Batgirl costume. Stephanie being so involved for personal reasons and just becoming her auntie not that there was any question. “Steph, why did you buy this?” “Why not? She’ll follow in our footsteps one day.” “I’ll make sure she knows all the technical tricks.” Barbara was quick to add referring to her way with computers.
• Kate Kane and Harper Row also visiting to check up on you both. Kate claiming that girls have got to stick together. Your daughter thinking Harpers hair is the coolest thing in the world. “Mommy, can I have my hair just like Harpers? With pink in it and can I have it rainbow?” “That would look so cool!” Came the exaggerated enthusiasm of Harper. “When you’re older, you can dye it however you want.”
• Damian gets over protective when romantic relationships come into the equation. “Father, I fight crime with you at weekends. I’m perfectly capable of handling a romantic partner.” “It’s funny you think they’ll even get a chance to get close to you.” “Mom, a little help?!”
• “Touch my daughter and you’re dead.” “You’re dad is joking right (c/n)?” Came your daughters current interest. “Haha, uh yeah… no. No he’s not joking.” “So what? Beat me to death?” “More like slice you. With his katana.” Your daughter corrected. “And that’s only if your uncles don’t get to them first (c/n)!” “Thanks for that mom.”

Summary: Avengers enter the cave, and meet the batfam!
Notes: In sorry if this chapter is a bit boring, I tried to keep it light. (I know the techie stuff that I glossed over bored even me) But now that I’m done with the first introductory chapters, I can move to some - hopefully - more fun scenarios!
“Woah.” Peter looked around at the giant cavern that the Green Lantern guy had flown them into. His ring had formed some kind of platform to carry them, and Peter was still theorizing how it worked.
They had flown toward the city - named Gotham apparently - following the mysterious “Batman”. Then reached a waterfall, which had a huge mechanical door system that parted the water. They had gone through a long pathway lit up on the edges before emerging in the cave.
It was huge, with multiple platforms built into the rock. Peter first found himself on one that was clearly meant for vehicles, as there were multiple motorcycles parked beside where Batman’s car stopped. There were other levels that held gym equipment, a sparring ring, weapons stations, and some sort of lab. There was weird memorabilia too. Peter spotted a giant penny, dinosaur, and a Joker playing card. A few more levels had cases for suits, not unlike that which Mr. Stark had. Though some of the suits were strange. One was clearly bloody and ripped. One of the most prominent platforms held a huge computer with a dominating black chair.
However, Peter could have sworn it was playing … The Dinosaur Game? That was weird.
Batman got out of his car the way he had before and made his way over toward the Avengers, where they had been set down by Green Lantern. He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, a very loud voice called out in the cave, startling everyone except the Batman.
“Bruce! Where the F*** is my AK-47?!”
The Hulk, who had since transformed back into Bruce Banner, frowned in confusion.
No one got the chance to question it, however, because a young man in a skin tight black bodysuit swung from another level, and was now hanging upside down from a support beam near Batman. He had a blue bird on his chest, Peter thought it looked a bit like an eagle. He also had on a black domino mask.
“Hey B!” He said cheerily. “ I should probably warn you that Hood is on a rampage ‘cause he can’t find his gun. And also Robin is threatening everyone as per usual. ” The Dark Knight sighed. “What about Red Robin, Spoiler, and Oracle? ”
The new comer grinned. “Dinosaur Game Championship. Oracle is in the lead.”
There was a sudden shout of disapproval from where the apparent game seemed to be held.
“And Signal?”
“Taking weapons stock while muttering about how insane we all are.” He shook his head. “He seems to forget he’s one of us, and therefore crazy by association.”
The Dark Knight sighed once more, this time with his fingers on the bridge of his nose. “Thank you Nightwing. Would you tell Red Hood that his AK-47 is in the Med Bay where he left it when he was doing his stitches? And tell everyone to meet in the conference room in uniform. Code 27G.”
Nightwings eyes - well, lenses - widened. He glanced at the Avengers. “Huh. Sure can do B.”
He swung up from his perch, flipped onto the platform above him - Peter was pretty impressed at how casually he did so - and ran off, seemingly melting into the shadows.
An awkward silence followed, with the Avengers all huddling protectively together. Peter really wanted to explore - that T-Rex looked awesome - but he saw the worried look on Mr. Stark’s face. This was an unfamiliar situation. They must be cautious.
A moment later Peter had had enough of caution. “Excuse me sir, is that a dinosaur?”
The Dark Knight turned toward Peter and glared. Out of the corner of his eye, Peter saw Mr. Stark tense up. But a split second later the glare softened. “Yes. Animatronic. From one of my early … endeavors.”
Peter grinned under his mask. “Cool!”
Batman lifted his head, and began walking on a path up. “Come, I’ll show you where we can talk.”
*****
They entered a meeting room that was off to the side of the cave. There was already a group present. They were clumped loosely in a corner, boredom and intrigue apparent on their faces. They all stood to attention when Batman walked into the room, all except for Nightwing from earlier. He was currently in a handstand in the center of the conference table, shifting from one hand to the other. He collapsed onto the table at the sight of the arrivals, before quickly jumping to his feet and saluting with an embarrassed grin on his face. Batman rolled his eyes and they all went back to what they were doing, except Nightwing who slumped into a chair.
The group of teeneagers were dressed in more skin-tight suits. Peter was slightly taken aback by how young they were. The smallest seemed to be around ten - perhaps he was this “Robin” mentioned earlier - and the oldest in his early twenties. Most seemed to be about his own age though, in their mid teens. It felt weird to not be the only kid.
The closest was a young man sitting in one of the chairs with his feet on the table. He seemed to be taller than Nightwing, with a broader chest. He wore gray cargo pants, some sort of utility belt, an armored shirt with a red bat on it, a leather jacket, and a red helmet that looked a lot like Tony’s. Peter could already imagine the copyright complaints from their resident billionaire. The man also had gun holsters on each leg, and was stroking a - newly returned - AK-47 in his arms.
The first teenager had black bottoms and red top with a black and gold “X” over his chest, joined by some symbol that looked vaguely like an “R”. He also had a black cape and smooth cowl. He was standing in the corner, leaning against a wall with a tablet and mug of coffee in hand.
A teenage girl stood beside the teen, dressed in a mostly purple with hints-of-black bodysuit and a purple hooded cape. She wore a full black mask over her face, with only white lenses. It was a bit freaky, but she was mostly non-threatening, due to her easygoing posture and laugh, which was directed at the teen with the cowl.
The kid was dressed in black leggings, green boots and gloves, a red and yellow tunic with an “R” on it, black and yellow hooded cape, and green domino mask. Though the strangest thing about him was the huge Katana he was sharpening while sitting at the table. He also had an unimpressed glare on his face. Peter decided that he and Helmet-Guy were the scariest in the room. Aside from Batman.
Another teenaged boy had a tired look on what Peter could see of his face, as he looked slightly disapprovingly at his companions. He stood in more heavily plated bright yellow and black armor with a bat symbol on it. He had a utility belt, and a helmet which looked to be shaped like a bat.
What was with these people and bats?
Peter didn’t get to ask, as at that moment a new person joined the group. Flying down a ramp was a red headed young woman in a wheelchair. She expertly slowed to a stop in front of Batman, who had not yet entered the room. Peter noticed that she had hastily applied a black domino mask, leaving a pair of glasses in her lap, along with a laptop.
“Sorry I’m late B, I forgot where I had put my extra mask. These things keep disappearing!” She said the last part while glaring at the kids.
“It’s fine, Oracle. Now that we’re all here-” He paused, then looked around at the group. “Where’s Black Bat?”
“Handling a Robbery downtown. She’s finishing up. ETA 20 minutes.”
Batman nodded. “Very well, we’ll continue without her, she won’t mind.”
He entered the room, ushering everyone else to do so as well. With a quick glare, all the kids sat down. The Avengers joined them, as there were plenty of seats. The only one who did not sit was Batman.
He spoke once everyone was ready, mainly directing his words to the kids. Peter briefly wondered what it would be like to actually be respected like that, but shook off the thought. Batman quickly and efficiently summarizes the events, including several readings of the energy sources, which only the red and black teen seemed to understand as he nodded along, looking fascinated. Once he was done, Batman turned to the Avengers. “Names. No need to share personal identities if you are uncomfortable. Though since we are from different earths, I doubt it would matter.”
“Everyone already knows our identities on our earth,” Mr. Stark said, receiving several weird looks from the teens. “So it’s not a problem for us.” He removed his face plate. “Tony Stark, I’m Iron man in the suit, which I built myself.” He gestures to Steve Rogers next.
“Captain America, Steve Rogers. Our resident super soldier and senior citizen.” Steve frowned at the last comment.
“Bruce Banner,” Mr. Stark said next, “Alter ego is the Hulk. Anger Issues and Gamma radiation galore.”
Red Robin perked up. “Cool! How did-” He was cut off by a glare from Batman.
“This is Thor Odinson, named… well, Thor. God of lightning, has a hammer. You can call him Sparky Sparky Boom Man.” A pause. “Yeah, maybe just stick with Thor.”
“Clint Barton, codename Hawkeye. Our long distance weapons specialist.” Mr. Stark gestured to Clint’s bow for good measure. The kids giggled and whispered something to each other that sounded like ‘Green Arrow knockoff ’, though Peter didn’t get it.
“Black Widow, Natasha Romanov. Intelligence expert, and ex-assassin.” This got a bunch of whispers from the kids.
Peter was the last to be introduced. He pulled off his mask while Mr. Stark said “The kid’s Peter Parker, our rookie, also known as Siderman ”
“You sure it’s Spiderman,” Helmet-Guy said.
Peter glared. “Yes.”
“Red Hood,” Batman said, frowning. “No antagonizing the interdimensional visitors.”
Red Hood just shrugged and went back to stroking his gun.
The Avengers just sat around awkwardly. The Woman jabbed her elbow into Superman’s ribs, which got him talking.
“Oh… It’s only fair we introduce ourselves, since it isn’t really official earlier.” This time it was Superman who spoke. “I’m Superman, known as Kal-El, a kryptonian. Human name is Clark Kent.”
Huh, he didn’t look like an alien.
“Here we have Wonder Woman, an amazon, demigoddess, and princess. Secret Identity is Diana Prince.” He gestured to the woman, who, despite just being called a princess, looked very threatening indeed.
“Martian Manhunter, a martian known as J’onn J'onzz. Civilian name is John Jones. Yes, quite original.” The Martian nodded in greeting, and Peter was seriously freaking out. A real martian!? Cool!
“Flash, a speedster also known as Barry Allen.” The man pulled back his cowl as Superman spoke.
“S’up?” He asked with a smile.
“And Hal Jordan, one of the Green Lanterns.”
“The best Green Lantern.”
Batman grumbled something that sounded suspiciously like “keep telling yourself that.”
Superman turned to Batman, but before he could, the Dark Knight spoke. “I can do it myself Clark.” He lifted his hand and removed his cowl to reveal a handsome man in his early to mid thirties with black hair and blue eyes. “Batman, also known as Bruce Wayne.”
He turned toward the kids. “These are my kids, as well as partners.”
He started with Nightwing. “Nightwing, aka Richard Grayson. My eldest.” Richard grinned and removed his domino mask. He too had blue eyes.
“Call me Dick,” he said.
“Red Hood, aka Jason Todd, my second eldest.” Jason pressed some button or something on his helmet and took it off to reveal… a domino mask. After a quick glare from Bruce, he sighed and took it off. Revealing black hair and blue eyes.
“Red Robin,” there was a soft ‘yum’ that came from the corner, though Peter couldn’t tell who said it. “Aka Tim Drake.” Tim pulled his cowl back and grinned. He had black hair and blue eyes.
“Over there is Signal, aka Duke Thomas, my ward.” The teen took off his helmet, revealing yet another black-haired kid. Though Duke was clearly african american, and had brown eyes.
“Next is Robin aka Damian Wayne, my youngest.” Damian sneered as if he were above everyone around him.
“Spoiler, aka Stephanie Brown, is a family friend.” Stephanie waved.
“I’m also his ex,” Stephanie said, jutting her thumb at Tim.
Tim groaned. “When will you stop introducing yourself like that?”
“When it stops getting under your skin.”
Tim sank back in his chair and flung an arm over his eyes.
Batman sighed once more. “Oracle, aka Barbara Gordan. Also a family friend, and our tech specialist.” Baraba nodded in recognition. “Now that introductions are out of the way, we must discuss how you got here, and how you’ll get back.”
Everyone nodded and began the discussion. Mr. Stark started off the explanation, going over Anagnorisis, the compound, the gun that they got hit with, and how they ended up in the crater.
The other adults - mainly Batman - popped in, talking about the calculations for such an interdimensional jump. Peter listened intently, as he found it utterly fascinating, but didn’t add anything. Then Tim spoke, listing off a series of numbers and variables, that were received with nods. Peter was a bit jealous that he spoke so easily. So Peter decided to add something later on, a small comment about energy sources. When he did, the conversation stopped. Peter thought he was dead meat for interrupting, but then Bruce - Wayne, not Banner - spoke.
“The kid’s smart.”
Mr. Stark smiled proudly.
A moment later the conversation continued. They went on for almost a half hour, and even Peter was getting a bit bored. He could tell the other kids were too. The girls seemed to have gotten back to their Dinosaur Game championship, and there were small cheers and groans coming from their corner every so often. Jason and Damian had yet to set aside their weapons, though they had begun a small conversation too quiet for Peter to hear. The only people who seemed to be paying attention were Dick and Tim, though Dick clearly didn’t understand half the words that were being tossed around.
The adults seemed to be disinterested as well, namely Barry and Hal, who were in the middle of a thumb war. When they inevitably got too loud, Batman sent a glare their way. The other members of the Justice League seemed to only be listening out of courtesy. As were Thor and Clint. Natasha seemed to be focussed more on the kids. She had a small frown on her face, as if something about them bothered her.
Everyone paid attention when Batman spoke next, however. “It should take at least a week to charge up the energy sources and prepare a device to send you home.”
Peter perked up. “That’s not that long. Have you dealt with interdimensional travel in the past?”
Several of the kids groaned. “Don’t remind me,” Stephanie said.
“Worst twenty-six hours of my life!” Dick agreed.
Then Jason spoke, and Peter was speechless.
“It was almost as bad as that time I died. Now that wasn’t a fun evening.”
“You died?” Natasha said, clearly confused and worried.
“I’m better now,” he said as if referring to a common cold. Jason had a small smirk on his face as he shrugged.
“Back to the discussion at hand,” Batman said, glaring at Jason. “Yes, Peter, we have dealt with the multiverse before. It should be fairly simple to locate your dimension and send you back. The only problem is powering the device. It requires Superman flying out to the sun and placing the energy core inside to fuel it. It needs to remain there for over a week.”
“You can fly to the sun?” Mr. Stark asked. “How do you survive?”
Clark shrugged. “I have impenetrable skin, and a very high melting point.”
No one questioned this, though Peter was quite intrigued.
“Where will they stay?” Dick asked, which caused a sudden silence.
“Does the Watchtower have enough rooms available?” Barry asked.
“What’s the Watchtower?” Peter asked.
“Our space station,” Diana answered, much to Peter’s delight, “and no, we have those visiting Green Lanterns, remember? Hal has been grousing about it all this week.”
“I was not!” Hal said, then sighed. “Okay, maybe I was, but that’s beside the point. What about your farmhouse, Clark?”
Clark shook his head. “Under renovation. Speaking of which I need to head over there after this. Lois will have a cow if I’m late.”
There was silence after that, as everyone was thinking. Then Stephanie got a - slightly evil, Peter thought - smile on her face. “What about the Manor? God knows we have enough space.”
“You don’t even live here!” Tim said.
Bruce glared at Stephanie for a bit then sighed. “The Manor would work. Though why anyone would want to stay with you rabble rousers is beyond my understanding.”
Jason snorted. “Says the guy who adopted us all willingingly.”
Batman grumbled, but was saved from replying as a sudden noise came from the door.
The meeting room had a wide glass window next to the exit - which was open - so Peter had a good view of the sleek black motorcycle that entered the cave, upon which rode a figure dressed all in black. The motorcycle was parked and yet another costumed teen - this time a girl - strolled toward the conference room.
She was dressed in head to toe black, in the form of a skin tight suit. She also had a yellow utility belt, and outline of a bat on her chest. She wore a black cape and cowl which had pointed ears and covered her whole face. There seemed to be some form of stitching across her mouth, which was quite creepy.
She walked forward and entered the room quickly. Bruce smiled upon seeing her.
“Ah, Black Bat. How was the robbery?”
She motioned with her hands in a way that Peter didn’t understand. It seemed vaguely like that sign language which he’d seen Clint use.
Whatever it was, Batman seemed to understand. “Very good. These are our visitors. Code 27G. They’ll be staying at the manor till we can send them back.”
Black Bat reached up and took off her cowl revealing an asian girl around eighteen year old with a black bob. “Good,” she said. “Names?”
“We’re allowing them. Over there we have Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Thor Odinson, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanov, Peter Parker, and Bruce Banner.”
“Bruce?” She asked with a smirk.
Batman sighed. “Yes.” He turned to the group. “This is my Daughter Cassandra Cain. Alias is Black Bat.”
Everyone muttered small hellos, except Jason who said something with the word “favorite” in it. Cassandra didn’t seem bothered by the lack of enthusiasm. She just smiled and walked over to Damian.
“Seat. Mine.” She spoke simply.
Peter thought the kid would just sneer, but instead he quickly moved over. He could have sworn the kid looked scared. Perhaps the kid was all bark and no bite.
“Well, if that’s all, I really should be going,” Clark Kent said as he rose from the table. “Good luck with staying at the manor. See ya kids.”
“Bye Uncle Supes,” The kids chorused
“I should be going as well,” Barry said. I’m needed at the station.”
Soon the rest of the league left, and the Avengers were left alone with the bats and birds.
