I was discussing Ceroba earlier, and one of the things we discussed was how she doesn't express her emotions. And while I do think that's true, I don't think it's a conscious repression (in the sense of "she was purposefully not expressing how she feels to manipulate people" -- this is a bad-faith reading of the situation).

@rustedleopard pointed out in a post that Ceroba doesn't really take up any space in her own home; I personally interpret this as Ceroba never expressing any desires strongly enough for Chujin to do anything on her behalf.

Ceroba is an actress. But the role she's performing isn't one of a helpful, friendly companion -- it's the role of a loyal and devoted wife. She leaves the parts of her that don't fill that role behind as much as she can. Her role as the dutiful wife requires her to express herself less, requires her to do anything she can for her husband. She defines herself by her place in the family. Without her place in the family structure, she doesn't truly belong as a part of society. She can't be the person she was "supposed" to be. Ceroba doesn't express her true feelings because it's not befitting of her role. She has to be the perfect wife, and any emotions that exist outside that role must be headed off at the pass.
