Ok, ok I was scrolling through your blog and saw that post about Ceroba being the one to make a move. And that’s all great, y’know, angst! ‘I’m betraying Chujin!’ and all that jazz, right? Staroba hurt/comfort (love to see it!)

But. BUT!!! Let me step it up a notch!

He fell first but she fell harder? YES! BUT by the time she was ready to reciprocate, he had already moved on! D:

Obviously, Starlo still loves Ceroba, that’s still the same! But he moved on a long time ago. He no longer wants a romantic relationship, he’s happy being/staying best friends (he doesn’t want that to change!). It’s not easy seeing the person you’re in love with happy with someone else and Chujin and Ceroba were happily married for YEARS. Sometimes it’s just easier to smoosh down your feelings until they don’t mean anything or until they go away. And that’s what he did… (that doesn’t mean that his feelings can’t come back, but for the sake of this idea, let’s just say that they don’t)

And! And it’s just like ‘ouch!’ because Starlo knows what it feels like to not have feelings reciprocated but he can’t force himself to love Ceroba romantically. And if he tried to make a romantic relationship work, it might bring up some old and new insecurities! Like, ‘why wasn’t I good enough to start with?’, ‘am I being compared to Chujin when I do something she doesn’t like?’, ‘am I just a replacement?’, ‘would she choose me over Chujin if she had to?’, ‘if she wants me now, does that mean that if I had confessed all those years ago she would have accepted? —was my heartbreak all for nothing?’.

It super obvious that Starlo has insecurities, which I’m sure he’s working/worked on (and maybe I’m just projecting when I say this) but he might not be able to live with the fact that he’s a second choice. :(

Sorry for the long rant (I’m procrastinating and couldn’t get this out of my head) what do you think?
