okay I'm gonna talk abt more chapter 4 stuff.. this time about prototype's previous identity.. ch4 spoilers and also a theory below..

people theorized 1006 was elliot, which was recently disproven in the chapter 4 tape where poppy refers to elliot as her dad and wishes he were there. in the same tape she addresses prototype as a completely different person. also recall that elliot died in the 90s, meanwhile prototype met theo in 1989. so yeah, they aren't the same person

I've also seen people say rich is prototype, which cannot be true either. in a ch4 tape he speaks to one of the employees under his supervision. the kid mentions his coworkers joking about him going missing. before the bbi, it would not make sense for this to be a common rumor at the company, which means this tape had to happen after harley was hired in 1990; at a time when the company would have a reason to silence people

prototype existed in 1989 at the minimum, but considering he says "it's always been about you and me" to poppy, he's likely the prototype of HER. she's elliots daughter, she died in the 60s, meaning prototype was probably created around that time as well.

this means that rich can't be the prototype because he was human long after prototype was made

if you want my take on who prototype truly is, i'd say his identity doesn't necessarily matter. i don't mean to say his origins aren't important, just that his name and specific role in the past probably doesn't mean anything in the long run. i've never believed he was elliot or rich, and maybe in the future i'll be proven wrong but for now i'll tell you the theory i've had since june of last year

elliot's daughter dies in the 60s. he divorced his wife in 1930, so his daughter is probably in her 30s when she dies. she gets sick or injured, maybe she's actively dying or already dead by the time elliot begins his research. he looks for ways to bring her back, but it doesn't work on the rats (as he mentioned a note in the 2nd chapter)

so what does he do? he tries it on something bigger as he said he would: a human. of course he's not going to try this experimental method on his own daughter, even if she's already dead, so he finds someone else to use it on. we know that elliot wasn't evil or anything, so it's unlikely he killed anybody to use for the experiment. considering the orphanage isn't open yet (it opened in the 70s, not the 60s), prototype probably wasn't an orphan child either. if i run with my simple version of the theory, elliot may have dug up a body in a graveyard and used that. maybe a fresh one, who knows. he tried it, it worked, then he revived his daughter with the same method.

this is likely what harley wanted to know about in the chapter 3 tape (the "i learn something new about you every day" one), and also what prototype is asking harley to figure out in the ch4 tape they're both in. in that case, sawyer never actually figured out how to revive people with the poppy substance. sure, he can transfer people into the toys, but he can't bring anybody back to life

more reason to believe prototype and poppy are of the same "batch" is because it seems they are the only two who don't need food. it's outright stated about him in the ch1 trailer, and insinuated with her saying the "toys will starve otherwise" when she's talking about how nasty them eating humans is. she refers to them, not herself. her and prototype are probably the only 2 who were ever brought back from the dead, which circles back around to his monologue and gives meaning to the "it's always been about you and me, poppy. what we are". when i heard him say that i felt like my theory was lowk confirmed 😭😭

i think the motto of my life could be "think negatively, when has thinking the worst ever lead to a disappointment?" late nights and even later kisses. i'm throwing writers blocks hoping to break down the wall between us just to get a word in, but inspiration has ran drier in my throat and bloodstream than the air we try to breathe in every day. in a room we decorated with "could haves" and "wanted to's", i'm with you and we're alone, but it feels like it's just me. maybe i'm just pretending you're here, it's how i get to sleep when i do get to sleep. sleep is a bad habit i'm dying to try. i don't like guessing once let alone second guessing myself. you're inches away and still out of reach. we're not even on the same page. i suddenly wish i could have been a brain surgeon just to figure out what was going on in your head. or a psychologist, just to get a glimpse.

when i can't see (through) you it drives me insane and i break at every light of your cigarette, i wanna know what you're thinking but bad news is old news. now i don't know what's thicker, the tension or my skull... but i've still memorized every possible sound you make while breathing out. i seriously can't breathe so i'll let you do it for me - a new meaning to 'you take my breath away', i don't know why it was given to me in the first place. our eyes meet and i remember and kick myself for forgetting at/it all. i'm making things up just to have more guests at my pityparty. pretending i'd be given a chance when boys like me lose them anyway. yet here i am. and there you are.

people try to figure me/you/us out, but we don't even have it down yet. they can spend hours writing up all my mistakes but the pen couldn't touch you. so you can calculate how this is all adding up and subtracting years off my life. i'm more worried about how it's dividing us apart. girls are harder to figure out than algebra - yet people still try to do it. the one thing i've found is i don't want to lose her. i'm tripping over words and falling in love. i told her i would have bought her the prettiest flowers but she'd make them look ugly in comparison. she laughed and probably figured i was just being cheap again, but i was being serious.

as far as anything else goes, i'll definitely update about it later, but this one is definitely for you. if you ever question my love i'll answer it, i love you.

funny that shintaro is in the middle of two siblings when Aro is LITERALLY in his name......

i know this is a joke but actually. all my ship dynamics have an aroace feely situation to it cause im aroace and erm well. i see relationships in a particular way and if im the one writing it, inevitably... yeah that'll happen. i enjoy writing the conversations about boundaries and "well what is this then, what does it mean for us, what do we do and what do not do" and etc. heh. there'll be a comic like that, when either one of the ships actually happens.

i think this is extremely fun to write from the povs of characters that don't have a grasp of these nuanced relationships feelings like kano, shintaro and ayano. like kano being "non committal" or whatever the hell. is it really that or is he just not into what a traditional relationship entails? for ayano who thinks being alone is Easier. is it easier, or do you think being in a relationship means not being your own person anymore? and shintaro. well idk WHAT his fucking problem is. but it does come back to YOUR point. whenever shinaya or kanoshin happens, shintaro's actually the one to be like we can be a little not normal with it. it's fine cause it's ours, and we get to decide what to do... definitely said not as straightforward as that but yknow from him it's something

i think i go into it a little bit with ayano and kano in part 17 or even ayano in part 18 when she's like EITHER UR DATING OR U AREN'T. it's fun to see the pov of characters who i think have very rigid views of relationships when i have a very different view myself lol. this doesn't have to be every character, for example idk i headcanon harutaka or kidomomo aren't like this, maybe cause in this scenario they've been dating for so long they've created what works for them even if that isn't traditional. also harutaka and kidomomo are very queer here so that's also a reason why. sure kano's gay too but likeee. he's sort of a walking stereotype of a gay guy, because for him it's a reliable act to lean on. and for his gender i think he refuses thinking of his own feelings so much if he's got anything going on there (which he definitely does i mean come on) he's like i got a job so i dont really care abt that rn❤️🙏

that's also why i used harutaka for ayano to project a little on like whoa they aren't doing things right. i think she's even like THEY get a baby? they didn't even plan it and they aren't even married and THEY get a baby!?! it's so unfair! i want baby! ugh but i need a stupid husband first i guess. then being like ohhh.... i can do it without a stupid husband!!! yet somehow FALLS back on her initial thoughts because she chooses shintaro of all people, the only person she's ever had a romantic relationship with.

I kinda get what that the other anon means about Ollie seeming a little, fake (for a lack of a better word), at times.

I think it's because of that classic FDA PR training which in the words of Marcus Armstrong teaches you to "say a lot of words which mean a bunch of nothing".

Everything he says feels so sanitised, I feel like you never really get to hear any genuine, strong opinions from him.

It's really hard to explain it in words if you don't see it for yourself. I think it's more obvious if you compare him to other F2 drivers like Christian or Pepe, for example. They speak with so much conviction and don't seem to mince their words (whilst keeping things civil still) and you get such a strong sense of personality from them.

Tbh I'm not even sure if we can blame the FDA entirely for this because Dino is part of the FDA but I feel like his personality still shines through.

Prema's social media team is good at making Ollie break out of character at times but you can always see him trying to keep it cute still.

I feel like the closest we get to seeing his real personality is when he leaves comments on his family's SM accounts. Everyone views him as this well-behaved golden retriever but those comments show that he's actually quite sassy irl, he low-key seems like a menace (in the best way haha).

In a way I don't blame him for trying to maintain a certain image because people seem so eager to jump at any chance to cancel public figures these days.

I'm not gonna lie, part of it is also the cheating rumours for me. I don't consider cheating to be a trivial thing. It shows a real lack of character and integrity and I don't put anything past people who are capable of cheating. If people are allowed to be put off from Mini and Montoya because of their cheating rumours, then I don't see why it should be any different for Ollie. Of course, I don't think this should mean that people get to send any hate or abuse to the drivers but I don't blame them for side-eyeing them at least.

"What's wrong, Tomioka?"

Giyuu shrugged. He was sitting on the futon laid out for him in the room. 

Shinobu knelt down next to him, raising an eyebrow. "You're supposed to be resting."

"I tried," he mumbled. 

"Then try harder. What's keeping you awake?" she asked. 

"Nothing."

"Then sleep." She pushed him down, making him fall back onto the blankets. 

He sighed, staring up at the cealing.

"Either you tell me what's wrong or I'm going to force a sedative into your throat so you sleep," Shinobu said, after a moment of silence.

Giyuu groaned and sat up again, glaring at the ground. "It's nothing," he repeated.

She made to move to the door, as if she was going to get the sedative, and he grumbled. 

"Fine," he said. "Your sister is dating Shinazugawa, right?"

"Mhm?" Shinobu went back next to him, sitting down in front of him.

Why was he telling this girl about this again? 

"I..." He hesitated. Would she get mad at him? "I didn't know."

"Okay?" She raised an eyebrow. "Do you like her?"

"What? No!" He almost laughed at the absurdity. No, not her. "I kissed Shinazugawa yesterday," he blurted out, burying his head in his hands. 

"What?! But he's dating-... Oh. You didn't know," she said.

"I didn't know until today." 

"Why would he... Did he let you kiss him?" she asked, concern written in her features.

He looked up, his eyes meeting hers. "He initiated it." 

The concern morphed into confusion and then to anger and Shinobu shook her head rapidly, as if it would stop the truth from being true. "Why..?"

"I don't know. Do you know how long they've been dating for?" he asked, trying to find some hope in the situation. If it'd been for long, or even just a week ago, that'd mean Sanemi had cheated. He'd cheated on Kanae with Giyuu.

"For a while," Shinobu murmured. "Kanae didn't tell me till recently but she said it'd been for some time. They didn't tell anyone yet since they figured they'd rather find if they still wanted to be together before telling anyone or something."

"Oh." 

"Mhm."

They went quiet, unsure what to say. And then Shinobu said, "Alright, you try to rest. I'm... going to talk to Kanae."

"Wait!"

"Hm?"

Giyuu hesitated. "Tell her I didn't know she was dating Shinazugawa when we... it happened. I didn't. If I had, I wouldn't have let him do that," he said.

"Of course." She gave him a vague smile and left, closing the door behind her.

"Kanae, listen to me, Shinazugawa cheated on you," Shinobu said, her expression oddly serious. 

Kanae raised an eyebrow. "I understand you're not the most fond of him but I'd appreciate it if you didn't go that far," she said, sighing.

"I'm not-"—she sighed—"No! He is, Kanae, really. I'm not lying and making stuff up! Yes, he's a bitch and I hate him, but I wouldn't do anything to stop you from being happy unless it was genuine," Shinobu said, crossing her arms. 

A crease of concern formed in between Kanae's brows and she paused. "I... don't think Sanemi would do that," she murmured.

"He did."

"With who?" Kanae asked, quietly.

Shinobu sighed. "Tomioka-san. He didn't know you two were dating until today. He'd thought that Shinazugawa was single and... Tomioka realized you two were dating today, I suppose. He'd seen the two of you at the park and had figured it out."

"What did they do?" Kanae said, almost dreading the answer.

"As far as I know, they simply kissed. By the way, in case you think Sanemi pushed him away or something, he was the one that kissed Tomioka." Shinobu's gaze hardened and she glared at the ground. "We need to talk to Shinazugawa."

Kanae shook her head, backing away slightly. "He wouldn't do that, right?"

"You think Tomioka would lie about it? It seems logical for someone to lie to break them up so they can end up with one of them, but Tomioka doesn't appear to be a person who'd do that, no? I had to force it out of him anyway," Shinobu said, a hint of a smile forming on her face before dropping away.

"I... doubt Tomioka-San would do that. Truly. But... Sanemi? He'd... do that?" Kanae asked meekly.

Shinobu sighed. "Only one way to find out."

Almost as if on cue, Sanemi walked down the hallway the two were talking in and gave them a curious look.

"Is everything alright? Why do you two look so stressed?" Sanemi asked, moving to wrap an arm around Kanae.

Kanae flinched away and Sanemi raised his hands in surrender. 

"Sorry... What happened?" he asked uncertaintly, backing away slightly to give Kanae some space.

"To put it bluntly, a source tells us that you're cheating on Kanae," Shinobu said, her eyes narrowed in suspicion, trying to read Sanemi's expression.

Sanemi's eyes widened and he shook his head rapidly. "The hell? I wouldn't do that!" he said, sounding incredulous.

"Hmm, so you never kissed Tomioka?" Shinobu asked, raising an eyebrow, her hands on her hips.

Kanae stood by the side, looking nervous and unsure of herself.

"Tomioka? Fuck no! Why the hell would I kiss him?" Sanemi spat, crossing his arms. 

"I'll give you credit for your acting, but Tomioka told me earlier about it. And he's not one to lie about this, I'm sure," Shinobu said, her voice irritated.

"I didn't! And with him, even less so!" Sanemi rolled his eyes, backing away subtly.

"You think he'd lie about it?" Shinobu shot back.

"He did! I did not kiss him," he grumbled.

A door opened and the three turned to it.

Giyuu trudged towards them, looking tired. "Why are you shouting?" he mumbled. Then he saw the three of them and their expressions and started to back away. "I'll... go."

"No, uhm, can you... stay here?" Kanae asked, reaching towards him then, thinking better of it, dropped her arm to her side.

Giyuu hesitated but then sighed and nodded, moving forward. 

Shinobu raised an eyebrow at Sanemi. "Will you care to explain now?" she asked.

"There's nothing to explain," Sanemi said tensely. "I didn't kiss him."

Giyuu flinched. "What are we talking about?" he asked uncertainly.

"You," Shinobu said, "and Shinazugawa."

"Oh."

Kanae looked down.

Sanemi's eyes narrowed. "There's nothing between us. He's delusional," he said, irritated.

"I'm not!" Giyuu said, huffing childishly.

The scarred Hashira rolled his eyes. "Whatever makes you sleep better at night."

"Don't be rude," Kanae scolded. 

Sanemi sighed.

"Okay, why don't we start from the beginning," Shinobu said, poising a hand on her hip like an annoyed mother, despite being the youngest there. "Tomioka?"

"Hm..?"

"Tell us your side of the story," she said, leaning against the wall.

"O... Okay," Giyuu mumbled. "Me and Shinazugawa kissed yesterday and today I found out that he and Koch-... Ehm, Kanae are dating." 

"Bullshit," Sanemi muttered. 

Kanae looked nervously between the two.

"Shinazugawa, you go next," Shinobu said, raising an eyebrow at him when he stayed silent.

"I never kissed that dumbass." 

"Hm, and Kanae? Your thoughts?" Shinobu asked.

"I... Both of their... what they said are plausible. I don't know," Kanae mumbled. 

Giyuu looked down. "If you'd rather believe what Shinazugawa said, I wouldn't mind. I'm sorry for getting in the way of your relationship," he said quietly.

Kanae shook her head. "If what you said is true—"

"—and it's not," Sanemi interrupted.

Kanae gave him a look that silenced him, allowing her to continue. "If what you said is true," she repeated, "then I'm not sure what I'd do with... our relationship. I just... don't know if I could go on, knowing full well he kissed someone else during the time we'd been dating. A man, if anyone..." 

"I understand," Giyuu said, nodding slowly. 

Shinobu stayed silent, giving the three Hashira a bit more space now that she'd started them off.

"I didn't kiss him! I swear, Kanae, please, believe me," Sanemi said, stepping towards her. He was starting to sound desperate. 

Kanae stepped back. "I don't know what to believe," she admitted. 

"Trust me!" Sanemi pleaded.

Giyuu watched him, his eyes catching onto the way Sanemi's hand clenched at his side, knowing full well he might not win her trust over.

"I just... I trust both of you, as people. I can't... choose," she mumbled. 

Sanemi went silent and he averted his eyes.

Shinobu sighed, knowing that they'd hit a dead end again. "Alright, let's go through this a different way." 

"Why do you have to help, you're not involved and you're not a Hashira, for fucks sake," Sanemi spat through his anger.

"Sanemi! She's my sister!" Kanae said, looking almost hurt, though the words had been directed to Shinobu.

"Yes, that. And also because the three of you aren't making any progress on your own," Shinobu said, rolling her eyes. "You need fresh eyes, that's what." 

Sanemi grumbled but didn't say anything more of the matter.

"Right. Tomioka, do you like Shinazugawa?" Shinobu said, changing the subject.

Giyuu, who had been mostly listening through the conversation, looked up at his name. "What?" 

"Do you like him? You kissed him, no?" Shinobu said, tilting her head slightly.

"We did not kiss," Sanemi said. 

Shinobu ignored him, her gaze set on Giyuu.

The other two Hashira stared at him and he cowered under their gazes, though none of them were taller than him; Sanemi was practically around his height, if slightly taller, so he didn't count either.

"You can tell the truth," Kanae said reassuringly, as if she wasn't asking someone if they liked her boyfriend.

Giyuu hesitated, his eyes flicking down nervously. "Maybe," he said eventually.

Kanae let out a breath and Shinobu clapped her hands, clasping them together. "There, that wasn't too hard, hm?" she said, smiling at him. "Very well. Kanae, you like Shinazugawa, correct?"

Her sister nodded.

"And Shinazugawa, which of them do you like?" Shinobu said.

Everyone's gaze was on Sanemi now and he swallowed, hesitating for a beat. "Kanae," he said. 

Shinobu paused. "Hm, and is the hesitance because everyone's watching or because you also like Tomioka?" she asked, putting emphasis on the word 'also.' 

Sanemi narrowed his eyes but didn't answer.

Giyuu stared at him curiously. It wasn't so hard to say he didn't like him. He'd already said he would never kiss him, so what was so hard about this?

Kanae appeared to be thinking the same thing because she said, "If you like him, please do not be afraid to say so. Whether it's because you dislike me or because you like the both of us... Lies only hinder our trust (kotlc ref???/hj), Sanemi, please. It's okay if you say so." 

Shinobu nodded along with her words. "You should be glad she's giving you so many chances, Shinazugawa. I would've dumped you right then and there," she said, a smirk lilting her lips for a second.

Sanemi glared at her. "Fuck off." He turned to Kanae. "I... do like you. I could never dislike you," he said, conspiciously avoiding saying anything about Giyuu.

"And Tomioka-San? What do you think of him?" Kanae asked, more curiousity in her voice than a sense of distrust or hurt.

Giyuu watched Sanemi closely, waiting with a bated breath. What did he think of him? Why had he kissed him?

"H...He..." Again, Sanemi hesitated, his gaze dropping to the floor for a beat before back up to Kanae. He turned away from her. "He can go fuck himself," he murmured.

Giyuu sighed internally, though he should've expected this and no more, no less. Of course that would be the answer. No matter what Sanemi thought, he wouldn't say anything more. He wouldn't dare, especially not in front of the Kocho's and their stares.

Shinobu, on the other hand, had other thoughts about this so-called statement. "You keep hesitating, Shinazugawa. Be truthful." She narrowed her eyes then, glaring intently at Sanemi. "What do you think about Tomioka."

Sanemi let out an exaggerated sigh. "I already said what I think about that piece of shit!! Stop asking," he snapped.

"I said, you constantly hesitate before you say that. If you don't like him, just say it! What's there to think about?" Shinobu asked, irritated.

"Shinobu, it's okay," Kanae said quietly.

Giyuu nodded in assent. "He doesn't like me, he already said that. I should leave," he murmured.

Shinobu raised an eyebrow. "Fine, then one last thing."

"Hm?"

"Shinazugawa, you did kiss Tomioka, right?" Shinobu asked, turning to Sanemi again.

Sanemi paused. "Why are we back to that question? I already said I didn't," he said, apt on his response. (that doesn't make sense does it)

"Yet Tomioka says you did. He says you kissed him. It's not that hard to just say you did," she said. "Kanae already accepted that you might've, so why don't you just admit it? It would've made everything go by more quickly."

Sanemi glared at her, momentarily forgetting about the others. "Because Kanae would fucking break up with me if I said I did!!" he shouted. Then, realizing what he said, shut his mouth and turned away. 

"See? That wasn't so hard?" Shinobu said, her tone mocking.

Kanae opened her mouth several times to say something, faltering each time.

Giyuu averted his eyes. "I'm sorry," he mumbled, though none of it was his fault. 

"Don't be," Kanae assured him.

"Should... I go now?" Giyuu asked, almost hopeful. 

"No," Shinobu said abruptly, placing a hand on his arm. "Both of you, do you still like him? Somehow?" 

Kanae and Giyuu nodded slowly, uncertain where this was going.

"Shinazugawa?" she asked. "Do you like either of them more, or did you lose feelings for the two or...?" 

Sanemi hesitated. "Yes." 

"What do you mean, 'yes'?" she asked irritably. 

"I still do."

"That's not explanatory enough, but I'll take it. Now," Shinobu continued, "Tomioka, Kanae, are the two of you up to being... chosen? As in, would you mind if he picked from the two of you who he'd rather date? At least, assuming Shinazugawa's still hung up on the both of you."

Kanae and Giyuu nodded again simutaneously.

"Well, Shinazugawa, why don't you pick then?" Shinobu said, looking like this was almost amusing to her. "I can give you three some space here." She turned and marched away, leaving the three Hashira in silence.

"You can pick Kocho-san," Giyuu said, after a beat. "I know you'd rather date her, so..."

They lapsed back into silence before Sanemi shook his head. 

"Can I just... apologize first?" he said quietly. 

The other two looked at him in surprise.

"Uhm. Okay?" Kanae said. Giyuu nodded.

"I'm sorry, Kanae, for... that. I didn't mean- No, well, I did. I just... I don't know. I don't know what got into me. When I kissed him," Sanemi mumbled. "I do love you. I kind of just... got ahead of myself."

Kanae gave him a wavering smile. "It's alright, Sanemi. You love him too, don't you?" she asked. 

Sanemi hesitated, then nodded. It was a small motion but it meant everything to Giyuu and he stepped back, processing this. 

"You... do?" he asked. 

Sanemi let out a sound that sounded like a mixture of a sigh and a groan. "Sure." The answer was vague but it was still a yes.

Giyuu gave him a ghost of a smile. "Hm, you can pick Kocho-San, you know," he murmured. "That's enough for me."

Kanae shook her head. "No, I don't mind if you pick Tomioka."

Sanemi rolled his eyes. "We're not getting anywhere. Besides... how am I supposed to fucking pick?"

"You've been dating Kocho-San for a while and only had a slight interaction with me, I think she'd be the easier pick," Giyuu encouraged.

"But sometimes new is better! He may get bored of me eventually, or maybe he already did, so he'll want you instead," Kanae urged. 

"I'm sure I was just a small thing of trying something new, he won't want me for long," he insisted.

"He wanted to try something new because I was growing uninteresting to date so he'll go back to you," she said. 

"Uhm... You know you're debating about how I feel?" Sanemi asked, staring at them.

The two flushed and apologized quickly.

Sanemi laughed. "You're both so similar," he said, more to himself then to them.

"Is that why you liked both of us?" Giyuu asked curiously.

"Like," Sanemi corrected. "Present tense. And... no. You're different from each other as well. Personality-wise."

"I can see that," Kanae agreed. "Tomioka-San is talking a lot more than usual today."

Giyuu blushed. "I... there's a lot to say," he murmured. 

"Indeed," she said, nodding.

Sanemi sighed. "Can I wait to choose? I can't really... just... choose," he mumbled.

"Mhm, of course," Kanae said cheerfully.

Giyuu nodded. "I still say you should choose her, though. She seems the most logical solution."

Kanae poked him playfully and he shrugged.

"Well, it doesn't make it easier," Sanemi said. "It's like saying, 'I hate you,' to whoever I don't pick."

"I mean you technically already told me that, so I don't mind," Giyuu said, smiling slightly.

Sanemi shook his head. "Fuck you too."

Shinobu, who seemed to have been eavesdropping, appeared back in the hallway. "You three are so incompetent sometimes," she tsked, shaking her head.

Kanae pouted and Giyuu ignored her.

"Shut up," Sanemi said. 

Shinobu grinned. "Welp, now that you three have resolved it slightly, why don't we leave Shinazugawa to question his life deci- I mean, to think about it. Nee-San and Tomioka-San, you two can train or something. I'm going to go train as well." 

"Okay!" Kanae said, smiling. 

"I'll go home," Giyuu offered. "I have something to attend to." 

"Alright, then it's settled." Shinobu pushed Giyuu out the door and shooed Sanemi away. "Sayonara, Tomioka! I'll see you a different day." 

Giyuu nodded and the door shut. 

He sighed. That had to be the most eventful hour of his life.

Shinobu sent out a crow to Sanemi and Giyuu a week later, telling them to go to the Butterfly mansion to discuss the topic once more. 

She said Sanemi had had enough time to think about it but the Hashira suspected that she was simply growing impatient, though she had nothing to do with any of this. 

So, Giyuu and Sanemi made their way to the Butterfly Estate, anticipation running through their breaths as they both arrived at the same time. 

Shinobu greeted them, smiling in a way that made Sanemi uncertain whether he should've come or not.  

"Hello," she said. "Kanae's on a mission, it being nearly sunrise, so she'll be back in a bit. Her mission wasn't too far. Come inside." 

Giyuu walked in and Sanemi followed, closing the door behind him. 

"Are either of you hungry? I can make some tea and something small of a snack, if you want?" Shinobu offered. 

"I'm fine," Giyuu said. 

"Same." Sanemi looked around, his mind racing. The hell was he supposed to say? 

There was a loud pecking at the window and Shinobu turned, noticing the crow who was trying to enter. 

She opened the window, letting in the poor crow. 

"What's wrong?" she asked, stroking its feathers carefully. 

The crow looked hesitant at first, but of course it might've been because it was currently gasping for air.

"Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho, was defeated by Uppermoon Two. You must attend to her immediately," the crow cawed, after a beat. It continued on saying her location but the three had already made their way out of the Butterfly Estate, rushing to the said place.

Upon arriving, Shinobu sprinted to her elder sister who lay on the ground, blood coating Kanae's front. 

"Kanae!" Shinobu and Sanemi shouted in unison, fear lacing their voices.

Shock filtered through Giyuu's expression and he hovered behind the other two as they crowded around the fallen Hashira.

well firstly, i just think it's kinda moe cuteness adorable and plays into his duality...i think her ma was a brown sheep, and his dad was a white goat and his hair ended up kinda swirled because of it. and up until revival brute forced white hair on her and made her confront stuff (and revival hair isn't dyeable to me), he'd dye it full brown regularly bcs his relationship w his dad was normal and healthy don't worry abt it don't worry stop asking questions. she's a clearly normal ram.

also uhhh. To support my claim, and this is meta knowledge, but i do think it's interesting tht even ccschlatt the guy will call his character a goat sometimes, does not disuade ppl who call him that in rp even though one of cschlatt's main character traits is the way he'll stand up for himself/hates being percived in a way he doesn't want, which means it mustn't be that srs to be called that in the first place, and also promotes rammie merch w goat emoji even though ram ones DO exists. 🤨 it's almost like he wants annoying microbloggers to dig into it too much. something to think about.

fr cq obvs he's a duckie primarily, some manner of patito but i also think he's part budgie and it fucked up his development in some way. idk, to me he has like. little claws he needs to file down which ducks do Not have, and he also just chirps which ducks do not do. his wings are yellow but if you fluff them up underneath you can see that it's a kinda dawny white, like they were SUPPOSED to grow more but just kinda stagnated, and that coloration is very common w budgies. not to mention those things are notoriously v small and weak and can die pretty easily so idk i'm sure that doesn't play into anything. mixed king who lost

ithink schlatt grew up in a v small town, w her and his family as the only Real hybrids which was also normal for him as a guy who takes being scrutinized and looked at differently very well. him niki n wilb were all besties, until wilb left to pursue his dreams of getting his dad to pay attention to him i mean getting his dad to pay attention to him i mean music. and then cniki and cschlatt had one of those weird toxic girl friendships breakups that fuck up their lives and leave them in resentment for years but they didn't know schlatt was a girl yet so it was extra weird for them. niki voice why are we having later to be thematically relevant tension you miserable asshole schlatt voice if you say anything else i'm gnna eat my own leg and you won't be able to stop me. so alas.

so he just didn't have that like...wider connection or interactions, and she ofc couldn't rely on her dad who probably ditched her and her sick ma when schlatts like. 13. so all the hybridism upkeep he knows, like upkeep and proper filing of his horns or polishing her hoovsies, come from his mama. horror sting. who dies not long after. wwell.

ithink cq also lacks a level of connection to wider bird hybrisisms bcs i don't think he ever had parents at all i think he just spawned. which is literally not uncommon in the mcyt world at all. but he had nobody to. teach him anything, so he just kinda lets his instincts guide him even tho tht doesn't work v well either.

ithink he was just a mildly feral street urchin type kid, yk stealing to eat that kinda thing and ended up being in and out juvie bcs of it at like. idk id say v young when he first got locked up, like 9 or smthng which is super insane but wht cn ydo.

(my other hc is tommy and cq know eachother frm juvie :] makes sense to me. cuz canonstyle ctommy is v fond of cq and cq of him before the smp even starts, and they make "jokes" abt peddling drugs together, right after cq talks abt being put on them in juvie, and is currently selling them to make money cuz he just got outta there. why do they both already know how to do this. guys who definitely made it insufferable in there)

and then on one of the times he gets away :] i think csam adopts him and loves him very much abt it even if cq more often than not pops in and out on account of the mc nature of the world. and cq definitely won't replay his kindness by accidently ruining his life. (REXHING AMD PUKGING.) but the guy is a creeper hybrid 👍 and not a bird. so he isn't really sure how to navigate that either and especially cuz cq is a shitty little shape shifter on top of it. smthing he is ALSO bad at and can't control v well or for v long w/o getting really fucked up from it. (guy who always loses) i never lose

scritches my head so yk general lack of upkeep type of guy. he doesn't know how to preen himself v well or v consistently, he doesn't get to his little claws fast enough so smtimes he just nips at them to stop from slashing someone's eye out by accident. but i do think he gets better at it eventually and nothing abt this fuckass evil server stops his progress either. guy who gets brutalized all the time to the point of severe scarring and nerve damage why am i on edge and hindered by scarring and nerve damage lolll 😅

6. There's probably. so many. I haven't wrote much about District 9, but I briefly mentioned their little riot moment, which my president has personal beef with the whole district from that LOL. Not sure when I'll get to writing that, but it's just sorta background knowledge.

I also haven't talked much about the whole government setup I created for my AU of Panem. TLDR; there's a senate council made up of 26 capitol senators. Half of them are district governors (aka the capitol representative in charge of managing that district's affairs in the larger gvt. most of them are pretty shit at this in terms of actual welfare for the district 💀). The other half also serve as heads of various gvt ministries in Panem (finance, interior, transportation, culture [aka games lol], etc). They've got a pretty big say in presidential elections (yes they have elections) sorta like the electoral college in the US lol. Presidential elections are also fun because they're incredibly biased towards the incumbent. There's no term limit, and each time an incumbent pres wins another election, they get an extra 4 years added onto their term, so there won't be another election for even longer. I.e. President Valorius was elected in 122 ADD. The next election was held in 126 ADD, which she also won, so the election after that wasn't held until 134 ADD. WHICH she also won, so the following election wasn't held until 146 ADD. And so on until the president either dies or loses the election, which is very unlikely but not impossible - Valorius ended up beating Celestia Snow (yeah, Coriolanus's granddaughter lol) in 122 ADD which was a huge upset. Bad news for the districts of Panem 💀I have no idea when id go through this kind of lore in a fic LOL.

Ohhhgm my god and this video is so adorable .. I've said this before but as much as i love madness I also LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE So Much how on dragon ball everyone is depicted as truly happy healthy open free and LOVING EACH OTHER. Trunks and Goten just wanted to spend time with their fathers whom they love so much. They both assumed that their fathers loved each other as much as goten and trunks themselves love each other. But I dont honestly trhink that that's THAT relevant becasue what we mostly saw of Goten & Trunks in DBZ was friendly fun anyway, just with a bit of teeth, and then in DBGT Trunks is totallllyyyy chilled tf OUT and we don't see any acidity from him ever I think. So the fact that he's not saying slurs in DBS is I think okay. (I am actually greatly intrigued by his personality in DBS becasue I believe that it offers a great transition into the eventual DBGT and becasue it offers A LOT of insight on his Nature and his Nurture. Now is not the time.)

OK back to the aspect of the post that is about the throuple with Palace. This here ask offers the perspective that if Trunks sort of entered the relationship, then Goten wouldn't take it as striaght up competeition, but instead it would be sort of like "Ok well you know what You're a good man. I actually do have a reason for never giving them a happy (canonical or implied) happy ending ☝️ the thing abt me is every detail or like choice I make in character design/relationship/etc is that it's always intentional (most of the time) like there's always some kind of corny reason behind it bc I'm jwndkwjd insane and just think too hard abt two characters that don't even exist.

I am an absolute loser for tropes like 'in another life' or 'in every life' or just anything among those lines. Like genuinely it does smth irreparable to my brain it's not even funny.

And basically the thought process for jipunk was like they're LITERALLY from different universes which quite literally means they can't end up together bc it's just not possible. hiiii sorry totally forgot abt this but a friend reminded me of the whole ordeal today! so!

i've had pretty much the same close friends for most of my life, and we all went into hs together. during orientation everyone was put into random groups, and a couple of my friends were in a group with these two girls, we'll call them jes and dan. they sorta just....started doing lunch with us, which was fine by me. i wasn't ever all that close with them but a couple of my friends were closer with them and i didn't mind them or anything.

notable, my whole close group is essentially family friends at this point, and it's important to know that jes and dan never really ingratiated themselves in the group that way, and i can count on one hand the number of times i (or most of my friends tbh) hung out with them outside of school. now jes and dan and one of my friends (lets call them an) were also good friends with this whole other group of girls who i truly never interacted with. i had class with one of them freshman year and bar that i hardly knew them. but an was very close with them and they were nice enough and sometime around the start of senior year they started sitting w us at lunch? by then i and most of my close group were spending lunch in the library or in classrooms working or writing college essays and whatnot, so i hardly even saw them. and again, i was....ambivalent about them. wouldn't Choose to spend time with them but it's not like i hated or loved them. i was like. mildly miffed that they'd just invited themselves to our small lunch group (bc there were SOO many of them my god) but since i hardly did lunch with them it truly did not matter.

anyways fast forward a year and we're graduating and i'm cleaning my instagram, trying to unfollow people who i just dgaf about before summer and college. that whole gaggle of girls + jes and dan fall into that list bc like. we had not had a single meaningful convo ever i knew nothing about them and at this point truly did not care to.....should have been a nonissue right? like. who even keeps track of instagram follows. summer happens, year one of college happens and then i'm back home for summer again, and catching up with a friend called nina. an is still in touch with most of that group, though they had a bit of a falling out with dan and jes over political stuff. she tells nina who tells me that the summer after college, one of the gaggle (slightly mean but i need to refer to the collective in a distinctive way) had found out, at her birthday part (idk how still lol) that i didn't follow her anymore, and apparently this had hurt here deeply. i cannot express how little we knew each other. like Nothing. she was hardly an acquaintance. anyways, this prompts the other girls to check, and bar an, they all realise i've unfollowed. APPARENTLY this was some MASSIVE deal and i was soooo mean for doing this and how could i (again. i don't know u !!!! i tried having a convo w jes in the last week of the year in the 10 min break between exams and we talked about TEH WEATHER) and as an tells it, they all sat in a circle and pressed unfollow on my profile at the same time like something out of a shitty teen netflix show. brought me to tears laughing bc had she not told me i wouldn't have even realised and like. i hadn't thought about them for ages and yet i was on their minds enough to piss them off.....also the imagery of everyone in a cirlce going 3..2...1 and then hitting unfollow.....soooo deeply silly 2 me. anyways that's the story!!!

Here’s my take, if you don’t mind my sharing it. It’s not that I’m looking to strip TGW of its original meaning. It’s that when it came out, I was like, “okay. Another song where Taylor is entirely at fault.” That’s not to say it’s a bad song, but that the theme is everywhere - Afterglow, peace, TGW, even Anti-Hero if you think about it all depicted Joe as this perfect figure who had to put up with Taylor’s many problems. It bothered me then and it bothers me now. That’s not to say TGW isn’t telling the truth, but that I wonder if there’s more to the story. A war takes two people. And I do think “maybe it was her” is probably the only time in her discography pre-YLM that she’s ever been like “maybe you did something too” about Joe. The rest of the song is about how he wanted her to trust him, how he was broken and blue, looking at her with honor and truth, and how she nearly lost him because of her poison.

Idk, maybe it’s just because I was never particularly interested in Joe so I found it to be missing some part of the story from the beginning. And we won’t know anything for sure until TTPD. But I don’t think questioning its larger narrative, narrated by someone very much unreliable due to her bias against herself and toward him, especially after Joever, is necessarily rewriting it or an attempt to ruin it.

No this is fair. And I do get how it would be a bit difficult to swallow that Joe was never really considered the villain in any of these songs. Obviously it takes two for a relationship to have friction and she obviously rewrote things in her head to blame herself a lot.

I think my thing is that like. A lot of Taylor's writing abt that relationship has been about her struggle with paranoia. And for a LOT of people (I don't know if you posted abt TGW or anything recently but if so I promise my post wasn't an indirect just ftr) it seems like Joever negates this character trait of hers in some way, because oh! She was right! Something was wrong!

And maybe that is the case, and we won't know more until TTPD, but like... as someone w BPD (here's where the personal bias kicks in), Taylor's openness about her paranoia and flight risk tendencies has been one of the things I've connected to the most over the years. So I guess it's a bit off putting to see some of the suggestions that this is suddenly not something that's genuinely a flaw of hers that she grapples with, and that it was just her lying to herself all along, because it's sort of like... first off painting paranoia/jealousy issues that she portrayed herself as working on getting over as something to demonize, ig? That's a specific tone I've only seen in a couple of posts/other people's asks though, not a broad thing. But then it also feels like it negates the idea that she may have been honest about dealing with this in herself, and it feels like people are just too eager to jump on that train.

I do like what Jaime said sometime in the last 24 hours abt it being something she genuinely dealt with that was then weaponized against her, though. And I think it's possible a more nuanced take is in order where she does deal with this, but it was made to feel like this horrible aspect of her instead of a problem they could face together, or he used it against her to paint her as overreacting when she DID see problems for what they were, or... any number of things, honestly. We can't know for sure yet! I'm just not so quick to jump on the train that she's never been afraid and wrong before, which is the tone I do see a lot of.
