It's best to say, observing  Wonwoo has got to be the most satisfying slash productive hours of your life. He is fun to analyze, albeit predictable with routine as straight as ABC. Honestly, he is just endearing even when he is only breathing. Every day, he starts his day with a few push ups before taking a shower, heading straight to the kitchen for coffee after. "There's coffee on the counter," you give thanks by kissing his cheeks, because you learned the hard way not to point out his act-of-services.

When he is reading, he tends to get sucked into the book, lost in whatever thoughts in his  head. Most of his reading is calm, eyes blinking slowly, batting his eyelashes almost with his breathing slow and steady. You love to sit next to him when he is reading, even sit on top of him, chest to chest because as you match your breathing with his, you know you'll be asleep in no time. The quietness in the room, the temperature just nice and don't even start with his warmth. His palm splays on your back, rubbing up and down to lull you into a deeper sleep, to which he joined minutes to hours later.

Everything about him is so serene.

He has this habit of touching his lips when he is so deep in his thoughts. Eyebrows scrunch, occassionally pouting from all the complicated words he is reading. And sometimes, well most of the time, he would rub his stubbles growing on his chin. He shaves of course, but within days his baby beard will grow back again and he can't be bothered by it. He sports the stubbles like it is nobody's business, looking so deliciously manly you just want to kiss along those stubbles. The scratchy sensation prickling your skin when he goes as near as kissing you, anywhere on your body, it makes you shudder with delight from just thinking about it.

Takes a lot in you to absorb his magnificence. On the first meeting, you just thought that he was shy, kept words to himself most importantly, you thought he was the hottest nerd you've ever laid your eyes on. His nose, probably what he himself thinks is his best feature, feminine and incredibly straight with the slope ending with a pointy tip. It matches his eyes—his best feature for you—slanted and sharp, like he could see right through you. He was a tad bit annoying when he showed off his intelligence, but hot nontheless. The way he talked with conviction, laughing like a villain when Mingyu decided to challenge his intellectual.

His lips. Those lips that utter softness, always giving you assurance. The same lips that debates with Mingyu, and sometimes Jeonghan. Thicker bottom lip, with an upper lip that is feminine with a deep cupid's bow. And when he kisses you, your body tingles with every movement. The groans he spill, with his deep voice that you can feel in your spine. It makes you shiver. When he compliments you, it comes with a kiss.

"My pretty girl." A kiss on your cheek, at random hours every day.

"You did amazing." A kiss on your shoulder when you lost in a game.

"You look cute." A kiss on your neck when he sees you relaxed, reading a book he suggested.

"I love you." A kiss on your forehead and on your lips.

It's everytime he speaks, a kiss will land somewhere on your body. You love it so much.

You also love how soft spoken Wonwoo is. With that deep voice of his, he can easily scare people away but because of the way he articulates his words softly, he sounds like an actualy sunshine. Especially when he comes to you and spill about his day, sounding so excited. What makes it funny to you is when he reenacts some jokes the member told him. The thing about Wonwoo is that he is not an animated speaker. Minimal hand gestures, body language reserved, it's up to his tone for you to decide if he's telling a funny story. But when he laughs, be sure that his nose will scrunch.

At night, when you two are getting ready to sleep, he always asks if you're having any trouble lately. If you do, he will listen and let you finish talking, his hand keeping busy with caressing your hair until you fall asleep like that. If you don't, he will hum you to sleep.

Wonwoo is a tall guy. He makes it a habit to kiss the top of your head. He loves the height difference between you two, how your head fits right on his chest. It makes hugging you so much better when you can listen to his heartbeat, arms circling your neck as he pushes his cheek against your temple. He gives the best hugs, it's not as frequent as his kisses but when he is into it at certain times, he won't stop. Especially after tour, days without physical contact will take a toll on him. He is snaking his arms around your waist with his palm rubbing your back, swaying side to side without a single word. He hopes, and he knows, his hug delivers the best "I missed you" message.

You miss his presence the most when he's not there to make your coffee in the morning. Or when he's not there to tie your apron when you're cooking because being the graceless one between the both of you, you always forget to. He knows when to act. Like when you are entering the car, he will take your bag so that you can sit without sitting on your bag. How he laid out your pajamas on the bed for you, so that you don't have to rummage your closet after showering. To be fair, he wants to match with you, which is why he is always a step ahead.

"Tonight is a pink pajamas kinda night." He says, showing the pajamas he picked earlier like it was some prize, which you giggle at.

There are times where he even surprise you, saying that your period will be in a few hours. And he's spot on. How does he knows this? "Your boobs look bigger, and you've become sexier in the last hour." Sounds crazy but his methods are flawless!

"Of course you notice my boobs." You say while rolling your eyes, and he can't help but to kiss you stupid. You're glowing in his eyes, always the most beautiful.

"They're my favourite baby! I won't be the man that I am today without your boobs."

Taravangian - Jasnah parallels

How do I feel about my favorite character having so many parallels with the main antogonist? Awesome. And terrified.

Both believe they are doing everything for the "greater good™" but in reality don't always do (because it's impossible). I don't really need to add here, it's what the whole debate thing was about. Taravangian tried to prove to Jasnah that she wasn't doing everything for the greater good, but with that he proved to her that not only SHE wasn't doing it, but that it's impossible to do. Taravangian, however still thinks HE can do it.

Both love their family very much and will betray their principles to save them. Again, self-explanatory and explored in the book. Interesting, that in neither cases killing the family member would have actually led to any good outcome. Renarin's "seeing the future interferes with other people doing the same" saved the good guys, while just killing his family with the rest of the city wouldn't have accomplished anything for T.

Both, really, REALLY need to prove their point to people. With Jasnah someone in the book (either Shallan or Dalinar) said it better than me. I can't find the quote, which annoys me, but it was something along the lines of "Jasnah didn't only prove her point, she hammered it into you". Taravangian ALWAYS tries to prove his point to people. He can't just defeat them, he NEEDS them to admit he is right. He can't just captire Thaylenah, he has to set up a debate to convince Jasnah and Fen that he is right. He can't just win the contest, he has to make Dalinar agree with him (I have so much more on this, but it deserves it's own post).

Both don't really believe in hope. Jasnah says it out loud multiple times. T doesn't have any hope for saving the world other than Kharbranth by the end of Oathbringer and doesn't have any faith in Dalinar's coalition and saving the world from Odium (see his conversation with Dalinar in Rhythm of war). He thinks that his ways are the only ways by which they could save anything (only Kharbranth in the end).

Both are rulers that don't exactly have their kingdoms anymore, but love them nontheless.

Both of them respect Dalinar a lot.

Both of them end WaT in tears because their enemy has proven correct. For Jasnah it's T himself (in her opinion), for T it's Dalinar with his "Cursing Dalinar for having been right". I am not sure in what Dalinar was proven correct, though, would welcome your opinions.

What are your top ten favorite Jimmy headcanons and why? :]

ooooh okay I'm putting this in my drafts so I can add on whenever I have more ideas

1: canary!!!! He usually had little wings in flight disabled worlds (specific commands used to equal the playing field between hybrids and nonhybrids), and in any other world has four wings. The main det are large, what you see when you think of an avian, and the second pair stems from just underneath the main pair. They are smaller, and mostly used for emoting and assistance steering in flight. His head wings also help to steer and for emoting. In world's where he is another hybrid (for example, After Life smp), he will take on the traits of that hybrid. Sometimes they will be combined (for example, I headcanon his penguin origin had small bits of yellow feathers), or he just a trail of feathers

2. In empires, he slowly turned to a toy. Lots of body horror is involved. I will not elaborate further unless asked more (id love to yapp about it but it will be horrific and very rambly.

3- he has a bad habit of making himself smaller. he slouches a bit when people get even the faintest bit upset with him. his default standing postion has his shoulders raised and tucked in a bit. when he sits he tucks his knees to his chest and folds his wings up tightly. if someone gets REALLY upset with him, he will typically go hide in a small space. this is actually really bad because hes claustrophobic (HE SAID IT ONE OF HIS EVO VIDEOS. HES CLAUSTROPHOBIC AND IS ALSO TERRIFIED OF SPIDERS), so usually someone realizes and fishes him out from whatever under the bed or desk hes hiding in. hes also bites his thumb when he gets flustered and sticks his tongue out a bit when he has to focus (as joel so kindly pointed out)

4: he LOVES birds. loves loves loves them. he carries around bird seed in a little bag because a) its yummy and b) bird friends :D birds will usually flock around him. sometimes if hes arguing with someone the birds will attack the person hes fighting with! hes like a disney princess. a lot of animals warm up to him quickly as well. thankfully hes trained norman and flick out of hunting birds specifically- he gets sad when they hunt other animals but accepts that its just how life works, but he freaks out when he sees dead birds... partially because he is kinda a bird who dies a lot.

5- he likes the watchers, or at least is neutral about them. i like to think that they were slowly warming him up to them in wild life, giving him gifts to keep him safe (ie. his invisibilty power and stuff like that) and praising him a bunch. grian (a former watcher who is against them) noticed this, which is why he resolved to kill Jimmy and eventually succeeded. this destroyed Jimmy and the Watchers connections, which basically felt like you're finally in a warm comforting hug and then someone whos hurt you over and over again grabs you by the hair and rips you out of their grip. the people who were comforting you are screaming, holding on to you so hard their nails are making you bleed, but you are separated from them nontheless. Jimmy stayed curled up in his Impossible Minecraft base's attic for a few days after Wild Life ended, and mostly ignores Grian in one-on-one interactions (specifically after wild life). If Grian hadn't done this, I imagine Jimmy would have actually been taken into the ranks of the Watchers.

6) he keeps mementos of every world hes been in!! some he has more from than others, he has a lot of stuff from double life and secret life for example but only his sheriff star from esmp2 (he used to have a doll but had a fit of midnight rage and burned it). he also writes down the main gist of what happened in each world in a note book (HE ONLY WRITES POSITIVE THINGS because he knows the negative things will haunt him).

7- it takes a long time for his tear response to kick on. for example, if you accidentaly get hurt, you may laugh at first and then produce tears a minute later. it takes him maybe 5 minutes to get to that point? hes good at laughing it off and then quickly vanishing. also one would think he has a high pain tolerance due to everything hes been through but sadly not...

8: I often imagine him to have blue-brown heterochromia! And maybe light sensitivity too...

9- self esteem issues. i might have mentioned it above. i dont think i need to explain this one lmao

10) last but not least! he loves star gazing, or moon gazing if the stars arent out. he'll stay up for hours staring at the night sky. actually i headcanon that this is what lead to his villain arc in esmp2.... the view he was so used to was suddenly disrupted and he could only see some of the stars. is it obvious hes also very neurodivergent in my eyes? also he has a very strong connection to the stars in esmp2 in my brain (look up the redshift effect and then compare his normal and villan sheriff skins. mind blowing)

July 2024 roundup!! (Part 1!)

Had a great month for catching up on and starting new series with August already shaping up to be a wrap-up month. This round up will be a 2 parter, one for English titles and one for Japanese!

First is Ima Koi by Ayuko Hatta. 9 volumes is such a perfect length for the Margaret campus romance and what's better than a campus romance by someone who's been making them for 20 years. I can't find anything that I think is unique about the series aside from the fact that it hits all the right beats, the characters and their relationships are well rounded, and Hatta (known for titles like Wolf Girl and the Black Prince, and Bye-bye Liberty) knows just when to be restrained and when to give the readers what they want. I just really enjoy it when an author becomes so competent in a genre in this way and had a great time the whole way through. Hatta in the columns also expressed wanting to move on from the campus romance, which I'd love to see because I think an adult romance would release her full potential, but in the final volume announced that she's taking a hiatus from manga to explore various jobs in the food and service industry. I love that for her, and if she graces us with manga once again I will be there to check it out.

Hirayasumi by Keigo Shinzo I won't linger on for too long since I'm the one late to the party and only one volume in, but I already love the cast and how they interact and the tempo of the narrative. I'm so looking forward to keeping up with this series!

Her Frankenstein by Kawashima Norikazu is the debut title in Living the Lines Books new horror imprint Smudge which promises to deliver exciting deep cuts from the pulp world of horror manga. Her Frankenstein follows a man with a shattered sense of self which is further fragmented when he becomes haunted by his own past. Accompanied by an always thorough Ryan Holmberg essay this is a great read for psychological horror fans and horror manga fans interested in acquiring an even broader look at the genre landscape. The next title in the imprint will be UFO Mushroom Invasion by Shirakawa Marina expected to be released on October 1st

Last but certainly not least, I finally got my hands on Viz's long overdue edition of Ai Yazawa's Neighborhood Story volumes 1-2! Overwhelmed with things to say but will keep it short. First time I read it I was ever reliant on a dictionary but was nontheless swept into this tale of adolescent love, friendship, and growth. Coming back to it since then I'm once again overwhelmed with adoration for her work and how she is able to capture the ups and downs of the emotionally volatile teenage years. Timelessly stylish and one of a kind artistically I am so happy that new readers have yet another way to stumble across this work and that long time fans can finally have it in their collection! When I ran a poll a couple months ago asking if I should switch to english caps of the series when the time came the english caps won out, so next time I refill I will go back to volume 1. Will try to avoid dupes in order to speed things up, but if there is a specific cap I've posted in the past that you'd like to see posted again but in english let me know.

ZHONGLI never lets the romance die. you’ve been together for a while now, and he has never disappointed you in that time. candles, picking you up in his car, getting out of it and opening the door for you��dates with your boyfriend are truly the highlight of the week. due to his busy schedule at the funeral parlour, he often leaves you alone in the wee hours of the night; but he never lets you go a week without a date where it’s just the two of you. he values you greatly and it shows in the way he puts so much effort into these special nights, and he’d often ask you how you liked it afterwards (if there need be improvement, though rare).

“hello, dear. ready to go?” he’s walking you to his car, your arm around his—and you nod.

you wonder where he’s taking you this time, since it was his turn to pick this week; but you don’t really care. anywhere with zhongli is fine with you, even if it was a junkyard and you two spent the night eating chips & watching the stars.

he ends up taking you to a fancy restaurant in the city, in a high rise building—he pulls the chair back for you, and you’re speechless at the view. the city lights were bright, and you could see cars commuting multiple floors below. it overlooked many of the other buildings, but what caught your attention the most was the night sky.

“the view is so.. stunning, zhongli—how did you get a spot here?”

“anything for a beautiful view, y/n.”

you notice he’s not even looking outside, but instead staring right at you. you don’t know why, or maybe you do and you’re just shy: but something’s telling you that it’s not the city view he’s talking about.

DILUC never understood the appeal of date nights before you came along. he thought they were pointless, spending money to do something outside the comfort of your own home seemed like just that. it was only until you expressed your need for quality time that he finally gave it a try. having a busy schedule, he wasn’t sure when to take you out—but when he finally did find an opportunity, he found himself enjoying it much more than he thought he would. ever since then, he’s been picking you up from work at least once a week and taking you out to somewhere new; diluc’s never one to disappoint.

work ended late into the afternoon and you were starving. your coworkers waved you goodbye as they entered their taxis home, and you were just about to book a ride too—but a few seconds later, you see a familiar white car stop in front of you.

the window rolls down, and you see your boyfriend in the driver’s seat. what an extravagant entrance, you think, and you find yourself snickering at him.

“what’s so funny?” he asks, blank and deadpan expression worn.

“nothing. where are we going now?”

“you ask this every single time; you wouldn’t know.”

“i thought so.” you smile. it’s amazing, how someone could know so many places. at least now, you’ll have more places than just your shared apartment to make memories in.

you get in the car, and you both drive off.

CHILDE plans the most obnoxious, extravagant dates. he knows that you think it’s cringe, but he loves seeing the embarrassment on your face when he appears at your doorstep in his finest suit with the most colourful flowers, a sign in his left hand saying “will you go on a date with me?”. you could say it’s not surprising, a man of his nature doing such things—yet it’s sweet, not more sweet than cringeworthy, but still sweet nontheless. you were the lowkey, stay at home with pizza and binge movies type: after all, that was what your ex boyfriends had given you—but it’s childe, so you can always expect something more.

it’s a rainy friday night and childe hasn’t texted you. you’re sure he’s up to one of his stupid antics again, but a part of you thinks he’s probably swamped with work and can’t text you. it disappoints you a little, but it can’t be helped anyway. there’s always next week.

just then, your doorbell tune plays. you get up from bed, excited, but then you remember you ordered food an hour ago. could be the delivery guy, childe wouldn’t just appear at your door during a thunderstorm without telling you he’ll be late, right?

but you open the door and see him, drenched from head to toe, holding a bouqet of flowers (that were also wet). “i’m so sorry baby, i got caught in the rain while buying these.” he explains, using his free hand to move the hair away from his face.

it’s safe to say you two didn’t have the expected date that night. but he’s here, in your home, snuggled up next to you—he’s warm from the shower you told him to take, so you don’t really care; a break from the glam once in a while isn’t a bad thing.

XIAO is never late. he plans down to the minute, every detail in his mind—it always goes according to his plans whenever you two are out. usually, it’s always him who handles the where, when and how. you were never the type to plan ahead, often throwing yourself out there and seeing where it took you—and always the one following others plans and agreeing with everything. it was a friday night and you’ve gotten sick of the restaurants; you’ve sworn that you visited one of them at least more than 5 times in a month already.

you’re tempted to ask xiao to change it up a little, but it’s last minute—you’re getting ready and he’s on the way. you’re sure he would get mad, who wouldn’t? he’s booked a reservation, he’s wearing his nicest suit and you’re in your prettiest dress, it’d be a bit rude; but you’re sick of the monotony, work has got your legs sore and there’s nothing you want more than to lay in bed with your boyfriend.

xiao shows up at your door, and you hesitantly speak up before he takes your hand. “can we just stay in tonight?”

“tired today?” he smiles, expression soft and understanding—and you’re immediately relieved.

the night definitely did not go as xiao envisioned, but it’s okay—he’s with you, still, and that’s all he needs to check off his list.

THOMA grimaces at the thought of sitting across his lover, eating and just talking. that is the most boring thing ever, he would say; and that’s not because he doesn’t enjoy conversation with you, it’s mostly because there isn’t an opportunity for him to see you laugh or smile until your cheeks hurt at a dinner table. you won’t see anything funny at a fancy restaurant that would make you burst out laughing—and thoma loves that most about you, how your voice jumps an octave when you’re laughing and smiling, how your eyes sparkle most in those moments, or how you clutch your stomach when it’s too much to bear. there’s no fun in it, he would tell you time and time again.

due to this, it was clear what he needed to do. rule number 1, no dinner dates at fancy 5 star restaurants (unless you’re really craving a good steak). the weekend arrives swiftly, and you know your boyfriend is going to surprise you with a new adventure. this time, it’s going hiking and ziplining.

“oh, but we’ll be going together!” he responds, all cheery when you tell him you’re not a big fan of heights.

“that doesn’t make it any better.”

“are you sure? we could hold hands—“ thoma adds on, clearly convinced this was the most romantic thing to do with your lover.

“we are going to a restaurant after this. and i’m going to talk the entire time.”

okay so what i dont get is why people are so hateful to twilight, like yeah the creator is a total weirdo but your gonna tell me that it isnt one of the better low budget vampire movies that actually turned out hella good. And also the whole like everyone hating that edward is trying to "take away bellas personality" womp womp no he is not the whole point is he likes her LOVES her the way she is and that is why he fell for her and only her. him buying her nice things and saying he would buy her a new car is just him wanting to buy the one person he has ever loved like that nice things simply because he can afford too. also that is in like every single vampire movie/book its literally a whole thing, since vampires are alive for so long they become unbelievably rich and when they inevitibly fall for a human or something of the sort they spend thousands on them for the sheer point of showing love, its so weird the hate twilight gets when every vampire movie is essentially the same. i agree the creator is a creep no doubt but its so obvious when people are simply looking for a reason to hate when sometimes its just the stupidest shit like i get the whole thing with jacob and renesme cause that was weird but if you read the book it also mentions another case of that weirdness and kinda explains it and yes its still weird but that means the whole time she kinda sorta didnt mean it that way, still weird but nontheless. just saying sometimes the hate is so obviously forced....

Dear Fourth Wing fandom-

May I present to you, a carefully crafted playlist for the people that feel too much as they read and can never put it into words, but need an outlet nontheless:

I'm Neurodivergent and used to love reading. Until I stopped, because it turned into pure agony. Not because the books were bad, but because I feel emotions 10x stronger than I usually would. So much so, it physically. Literally. Hurts. It doesn't help that I fixate on things really easily as well. And if there's a limited amount available of the media it's even worse.

But! Making a playlist usually helps. (Not just with books, but other medias as well)

I picked up Fourth Wing - the first book I actually finished after 10 years of not touching one. Iron Flame is my current read and man is it an agonising emotional turmoil. I'm physically fighting myself through it but I love it nontheless and the playlist helps to cool off!

I know I'm not the only one who feels like this and even if it makes 1 other person happy, that's already enough for me :) (I'm also open to more song suggestions!!)

im so tired of having to defend myself on both sides

like. ok. i'm queer right. bi, demigender, aro, etc. also you know a girl, demi or not. all the time i have to defend myself from american christians who via mistranslations and misinterpretations spread by horrible leaders for generations have been led into a cult-like hierarchy that tells them to hate me when hate for us isn't in their book or supposed to be in their ways.

i'm also "christian". i hesitate to use the full term because of how bad american christianity has gotten. but i believe in the same god nontheless. every day i feel i have to defend myself from queer people as well

like. i so get it. as i have just established american and european christianity has gotten so fucked up and literally off-script that i'm shocked we haven't gotten another 95 thesis and a completely new branch. it's awful horrible and people who believe in such ideas should not be in power. to the point where calling myself a christian feels wrong. at least in america.

i need ya'll to have some nuance.

firstly the understanding that those who hate queer people, non-white people in any form, women, whatever else. isn't even in the text they follow. people have misused it since it was written. preaching just the verse saying wives should care for their husbands and not the one right after saying husbands should love their wives. taking out verses referring to god's "womb." about adam might not even being a man, as in, more likely nonbinary, the verse about david getting an errection when hugging johnathan. changing verses about cleanliness into women and men not wearing the same cloths. changing verses about cultural codes and allowing a world where people have to resort to prositution into verses condemning homosexuality. [X]

like. you know the matrix. was written as a trans metaphor. then a bunch of alpha sigma grindset rich white boys took it and appropriated it, misinterpreted it, used it to boost themselves and hurt women. it's like that. those people don't make the matrix a bad movie, they just don't know it's a trans metaphor. and trans people who enjoy the matrix are like. normal and cool.

as you can see i am passionate about this. i have all this stuff memorized not only to defend my queerness but my christianity as im doing now.

there are queer christians. there are certainly poc christians as right now, south america and south africa have the highest christian populations, to the point where they're sending missionaries to america.

again i'm asking for some nuance. when i see posts basically saying "the christian god is dumb" or "satan was right actually" and blantent misinformation about what the bible says. like those kind of posts hurt my heart. my god made me queer and loves me for it, i believe in a kind god, most good christians do. i feel like other religions don't get this treatment and it's just to spiritually piss off your catholic parents.

speaking of, in doing so you seem to forget about other abrahamic religions.

i once saw a post criticizing something directly from the old testament, out of context of course. saying god was cruel and the belives were flawed and all this due to one verse. people tend to forget, or not know, that the "old testament" is the tenoch. slightly different book order, same writings.

christians, muslims, jewish people, worship the same god. different names for god, some god, same base. if you make jokes about christianty willy-nilly, you're going to accidentally hit someone else. and even if you don't, you may hurt someone still.

Kind of a silly and maybe obvious question, but how does music exist on the planet that MOTH takes place? As in, howdo people listen to music. Is it like the ye old days where the only opportunity to hear music was to hear it live, or have there been ways invented to be able to jam to music privately?

And quick follow-up question, do any of the MOTH characters (listeners and speakers) enjoy music?

There are spells that record sound, so it's safe to assume that music does not have to be listened to live. That being said, you'd have to literally take a book of song spells with you everywhere you go to listen to it. And of course because there aren't such things as headphones, you'd have tot modify the spell so that others cannot hear it.

Zed is a virgin "I like all music" fan, while Makkaro is a Chad Jazz Enjoyer.

Mahann enjoys music more as a vampire than as a human. In his position, hearing music was a sign that you were living the good life, but as a vampire, his ears work differently. He can hear things better than most. Music might become very important to Nosferatu later on...

Mirrin kinda likes music, but it's all kinda noise for him.

Frank has no music in his bones but he loves it nontheless.

Skeleton of my masked!brothers AU that I've mapped out so far:

Everything stays the same up until the backstory of Lost Future - Layton is assaulted at 27 years old by goons as he's trying to investigate Claire's death, and winds up severely injured and briefly comatose in hospital.

Desmond hears about this from out of London and immediately travels to see him, booking a hotel near the hospital until Layton wakes up and he feels relaxed enough to return. What he doesn't know is that Layton is actually semi-conscious, and that the professor even in his comatose haze manages to register Desmond's voice and the blurry sight of him before he flees. Layton is haunted by nightmares for the entirety of his month-long stay there, both of what happened to Claire and this blurry figure that he can't quite put a name to but feels so familiar. It becomes so unbearable he greatly elongates his time spent off work to seek the man out, wanting to at least conclude one mystery.

Desmond is horrified to see his brother at the door, doubly so when his wife insists he reveal his connection to him. Due to Layton's desperation however, he does, and Layton is both incredibly overwhelmed and happy. Having another connection of family in such a hellish time gives him another lifeline to hold onto, and so he asks to keep in contact, to which Desmond hesitantly agrees.

Some time later when Layton is forced to give up on the Claire case due to intimidation, Desmond hesitantly informs him that agents of a paramilitary terrorist organization have begun threatening him, and that it would be best for Layton to cut contact for a while. Layton in fact does the opposite of this and rushes over as soon as he can... to find that Desmond's wife and young daughter have been murdered by said organization, and Desmond himself has subsequently become a depressive suicidal wreck that flits between fits of destructive rage and absolute overwhelming despair. Layton, feeling helpless and also overcome by grief by how awful the situation is, himself begins to dissociate and endeavours to take care of Desmond for as long as he can until his brother is well enough to take care of himself.

While he's out on a shopping trip for his brother, he runs into a member of that same organization - a Targent operative in uniform. He doesn't know if the man was the one who killed his niece and sister-in-law, or if the man even knows about what has happened to them, but for some reason he doesn't care. Layton feels more enraged and detached than he ever has in his entire life, nothing truly feels real, and just as he grasped at a family after losing the most important person in his life, it was wrenched away again.

When he comes to, the man is dead. Layton had killed him, not even really meaning to do so, but he remains dead nontheless. It's an irreversible action, one he would have never though himself capable of. He feels absolutely wretched, but worse than that, he can't find it in himself to feel guilt for the man's death, only that he has himself sunk to that level. He has a choice now - to turn himself in, or to not. He can't imagine leaving Desmond with nothing left in this world, so he doesn't.

At home, Desmond has collected enough of his rage to redirect it into a drive to get revenge, with the backing and unconditional love and support of his butler. He cautions Layton to leave and pretend to have never known him as to not be wrapped up in the dangerous life he is about to enter, but Layton, already feeling as though his capability to live a normal life ended the moment he took one, insists on staying with him, citing that he is himself already hated by a polticial power and thus already at risk. More to the point, he won't let his brother do something so dangerous alone.

Desmond agrees, reluctantly, with the condition that Layton also disguises himself while with him for his own safety. Layton obliges.

And then I suppose I'd have to figure out Spectre's Call, and so-forth! Please feel free to give ideas, I feel like I tend to only go as deep as base-level aesthetics and ideas and I fail at really digging into the meat of an AU.

Is it too edgy that Layton would go that far? I thought so a little, but everyone I know with siblings said that in his position, they'd do the same. Hm...

Traveller (Aether) Headcanons!!

Personality/Traits Headcanon list!: Please keep in mind these are headcanons I personally have and use when I write Aether interacting with my ocs, so it's ok whether you agree or disagree, just be nice please TT

Generally soft-spoken to people he doesn't know as well -> however, this doesn't necessarily mean he is shy.

Continuing on the first point, he becomes an absolute fucking menace when you get to know him. Literally would follow you around and pester you while maintaining that very innocent smile he has

He absolutely loves dad jokes (Lumine and Paimon hates them)

Has a lisp and says some phrases weirdly cause the Teyvat language isn’t his first language -> Also applies to Aether being unable to understand certain phrases or idioms or slang

Is a fucking early ass morning bird -> Is the one who drags Paimon out of bed for like a morning run at 6am in the morning

Absolute scatter brain, Paimon is the one who actually makes sure he doesn’t lose stuff

Aether is actually pretty tone-deaf and would most likely cause a mass evacuation if he duetted with Paimon (this also applies to instruments - he's terrible at music in general)

Bottles his emotions up a lot -> cries in private and is terrible at admitting he’s struggling when he is 

Struggled with growing an attachment for Teyvat and its inhabitants for a while -> at first all he wanted to do was just find Lumine as quickly as possible and leave; he could care less for anyone else. He didn't particularly enjoy being involved in the problems of other nations and just did it in order to find information on Lumine. Yet, by learning the stories of others and gradually realising that Lumine wasn't gonna appear willingly any time soon, he would find a strange fondness for the current journey. He'd understand that slowing down and taking in the scenery + making the current people around him happy (especially Paimon) isn't necessarily burdensome to him and his progress. For it is the journey that is worth more than any type of gold, and while his sister may not be with him in this one, it is still a journey nontheless and he might as well enjoy it

Love language is cooking -> used to cook for Lumine all the time and finds a faint type of joy nestling in his chest whenever he cooks for Paimon, despite the perhaps....large amounts of ingredients required

Has ransacked every single library in existence to find information about Lumine 

Collects silly trinkets and souvenirs from every nation so he can show them to

Is quite secretly envious of other siblings he meets

Lumine when they reunite (also has a book of pressed flowers from each nation) 

Enjoys wind-gliding, largely because it is the only time he feels like he is flying again with his old wings and also are the times where he feels the most closest to Lumine  

Always reminisces about his memories of Lumine every night, so he doesn’t forget -> it's scary whenever he cannot immediately recall a certain memory

Actually gets underestimated all the time and isn't immediately recognised as the traveller all the time due to his short stature (I think this is personally hilarious LMAO)

Dislikes being mistaken as a child and will chug a drink while staring down the people who kept ordering apple juice for him

He prioritises honesty and will always attempt talking things out before resorting to fighting or underhanded methods -> doesn't apply to dangerous situations, he is able to discern what type of situation he is in most of the time

Actually has quite a bitter relationship with the Raiden Shogun

Headcanons on Appearance:

Hair glows a little at night

He has magic tattoos of his old wings on his back and it regularly itches

Prosthetic hand -> lost his hand while fighting an abyss lector

Struggled with braiding his own hair for ages cause Lumine used to do it all the time —> cut his hair early on to make it low maintenence

Very fluffy hair and clothes have stitches from them ripping over time due to battle or wearing out -> tbh he isn't the type to concern himself much over his appearance despite Paimon's concern

Has an Inteyvat flower pinned on his scarf -> remembers Lumine whenever he sees it in the mirror -> Lumine gave him one to match when he had gifted her the flowers to put in her hair

Shit, I'm Aro Ace!

When I watched Season 2 of Heartstopper, as mentioned in my previous post, I discovered the existence of asexuality and aromanticism (no spoilers!!).

I realised, maybe, just maybe, there was a small chance that I was asexual and aromantic.

The fact that I had not realised before was greatly due to the fact that aro ace people have little to no media visibility. I didn't know I could be aro ace because, quite frankly, I did not know anything of the sort existed. And because nobody close to me knew about it either, I had not been extremely englightened on the topic. My parents are homophobic. A lot of my classmates are too. Nobody spoke of LGBTQ+ unless it was to insult something related. Of my frieinds, many of whom identified as something on the LGBT spectrum (all the school gays happen to get on) only one is aro ace, and didn't talk about it until I came out to them (non-binary) because they realised around the same time as myself.

I love Game of Thrones. Now, I know Varys is asexual (and yes, his asexuality predated him being an eunuch). Unfortunately (and this is cimpletely my fault, I only read up to book 4 and an currently trying to convince myself to start watching Season 2. He is the first asexual character I have found on TV other than one of the ones in Heartstopper.

Then there is Loveless, also my Alice Oseman. Revolves around an asexual girl. And though I have read much better books (sorry, Alice), I must say that it is one of my favourites simply because of the fact that its main character is asexual.

And to many aro ace people, including myself, one of the main fears is that we will be alone the rest of our lives, incapable of finding love.

I shared this fear when I discovered my sexuality. And I want tp tell you all that this is NOT TRUE.

Yes, we will not have a bf/gf. We will probably not get married. (If you are only ace this si different). The difference is that we do not feel the NEED to do any of this.

But we are not alone. We have friends. We have family. We can still adopt kids, and if you think raising them alone is a bruden, just look at all the single mothers out there.

We can find love. Love surrounds us everywhere. It just isn't the pasisonate, soul-consuming, burning love that allosexuals often feel. But we do have love. Yes, we don't fall in love, not romantically or sexually at least, but we have love around us everywhere nontheless.

It took me a while to appreciate it. But let me give you all a piece of advice. If you realise you're aro or ace, instead of trying to supress it for fear of being alone, appreciate what you have. Anything else will cimply cause you more pain than what you need or deserve.

wish i had just as nice answer to it (i've been writing this one for what... years?). but to be honest if i was a good writer myself i'd already have finished all my 37 books in progress. thoi feel like i'm pretty great in drabbles and generating ideas

so um yeah i don't have like "ideal picture" per se but i do have some let's say adjustments

1) first of all we need to get rid of all these пердежей в лужу (farting in a puddle for all my non-russian-speaking comrades). if a character makes a point (with some pretentious attitude nontheless) then either the point should stand or the change in the character's views or position should be actually shown. "you have to understand on your own that even if vi didn't want to become enforcer at first after the attack at memorial she changed her mind". no-no-no. look, if the book says "he said, 'let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.' and it was so" i mean i CAN understand what happened, and even how, and all those things, but i sure as hell won't feel any emotions. it's "okay he did it, cool". but what about actually showing some struggle? more details? no? what's the point of a story if the story has to be created by the listener? mel saying hard "no" to hextech weapons and acting all cool and mighty in the process just for the same exact episode ending with a swat team armed with hextech weapons and 0 commentary of mel's previous hard "no". characters' words don't mean shit cause if they need to do 180 on their believes for the sake of story they won't even bother to acknowledge they said something in the past

how to change? let someone meaningful to vi be hurt in the attack or let jinx be a part of it. i mean some lady does a personal vendetta cause her son was killed by piltie counselor? why does vi jump to hunting jinx as enforcer? also thinking about it it's kinda funny how this lady's personal vendetta makes cait call undercitizens animals just for her to go on the similar vendetta right after

2) cut out pointless stuff. or make them have a point. like the whole sequence of vi trying to go through the crowd cause she thought the neck tattoo on the enforcer looked suspicious. either cut it out or make her reach someone, or divert the attack, or do something other then go through crown and do fuck all. or like that also long ass scene when jinx gets touched by her followers. it's touching i guess but they're all dead one minute after and jinx never think of them ever again anyway. make her their actual cult leader or get rid of their meeting idk. isha's suicide sequence should also be gone. no alternative, just gone, idc. while we are at it might cut out isha altogether

3) which would actually be a shame cause i love children and found families and fucked up families and taking care of our smaller brothers, so like when i saw isha falling on jinx my first thought was "god i hope jinx will adopt him". so the third thing i would do is actually fixing this whole mess with isha. make her an actual character instead of empty plot device. it's cool i guess that we have a cool scene of her falling like an angel from the sky but also would be nice to at least know why a baby was chased by three muscle heads. give her background and personality instead of "look it's a parallel to jinx and silco! we even turned this child into little powder for you, dyed her hair and made jinx say it outloud to make it more convincing"

okay the problem is i have so many thoughts i get lost in them and burn myself out when i try to write them all down in one go. so i might just cut it here and now. maybe just some bullet points?

less pointless nonsense, more stuff that actually matter but was left off screen, more actual conflicts instead of "bigger threat and common enemy", cait actually going mad or something, jinx actually becoming revolutionist or something, maddie is a good person who dies on cait's arms and it makes cait revaluate her behavior, caitvi actually work on their issues. maybe 4 more seasons idk. also no stupid "silco knew jinx's mother" bullshit. i don't even care if vander knew her at this point, but silco... hell no

This here is the reason why I got stuck! I have no idea! Most of the stuff I am proud of is quite personal, so there isn't much else left. Still, I shall try.

I have finished two novels already. Unpublished so far, but they are finished.

One is as big as a goddamn Eragon.

I have finished my uni studies and passed with honours (So flawless grades, pretty much)

One of my short stories actually got published in an anthology. Though it has been quite a while.

The bodies of some of my inner demons lay defeated beneath me.

My notebook. All the outlining is inside it. It has a dragon on it and looks quite battered already, but it's precious to me nontheless.

All my paintings! One year, a friend of mine (@lunaria--annua, I'm just gonna rat you out. ;) ) lost his mind and sent me like three ACTUAL PAINTINGS of my characters and like several clay figures of my OCs. They are now the most dominant decoration in my room.

The custom books. Another friend of mine (@aaftergloweeye, ratting you out too. ;) ) went similarily crazy and made a few custom books of my old story and one that looks exactly like my profile picture. They're still some of the most precious things I own.

My brush pens. They are for drawing, but I just love writing notes with them. Makes everything feel like caligraphy. Plus, colours are always nice. ;)

A memory shelf. Technically it's many objects, but the shelf itself holds almost anything material that I have some memory tied to. From old tickets, to books, to small plushies.
