Honey Webbing
Part 20
Minthara found herself surprised by the ease with which Mera agreed to guide her back to the cavern. It was a stark contrast to their previous encounters, where the girl had been moody and openly resentful towards the drow. This time, however, Mera seemed eager to talk, though her topics — such as trivial teenage woes — struck Minthara as inconsequential. She spoke of her siblings, the pranks they played, and the latest gossip circulating among the villagers. It was clear that Mera was enjoying having someone listen to her, even if that someone was Minthara. The drow listened patiently, occasionally nodding or offering a brief comment to keep Mera engaged. The promise of the lyre had undoubtedly played a role in Mera’s willingness to guide her, but Minthara noted with interest how the girl’s demeanor had shifted beyond that. Gone was all the hostility and suspicion; after the distressful first-period night, there was a sense of gratitude and even camaraderie, however fleeting it could possibly be.
After the girl broke her fast, they made their way back to the riverbank. The morning air was cool and crisp, the scent of dew-covered grass mingling with the faint aroma of wood smoke from hearths. As they walked through the village, Minthara couldn't help but notice the flickering gazes and wary stares from the villagers – some curious, others openly distrustful.
Minthara stride with confidence, her chin held high, her steps purposeful as she led the way towards the riverbank. A group of children playing near the edge of the path pause their game, staring at Minthara and Mera as they pass by. A woman carrying a basket of freshly baked bread glanced up from her task, her expression guarded. A few men working on repairing a boat exchanged murmured words, their eyes following the duo.
Minthara noticed a sudden shift in Mera's demeanor. The girl's steps faltered slightly, and the drow could sense her growing discomfort under the scrutiny of the villagers' wary stares.
"Are you regretting walking with me already?" Minthara scoffed, a mocking defiance in her tone as she turned to face the girl.
"It's not like they don't stare at me when I'm alone either," Mera shrugged, her gaze on the floor, her voice tinged with resignation. “So I think the problem is me, not you.”
Minthara’s brow furrowed as realization dawned. Of course Mera, as a half-drow, would face the suspicion and wariness of the surfacers.
"Pay them no heed," Minthara stated firmly, her tone carrying her usual authority mark. "They stare because they know, deep down, that they are the inferior ones."
“That’s… Uh…” Mera blinked, taken aback by the harshness of Minthara's words. “I’m kinda used to it already… But... Well, thank you for trying to make me feel better.” Mera swallowed nervously, uncertain how to respond to Minthara’s statements.
“I’m not trying to ‘make you feel better’, child. I’m just stating an objective truth. They stare because they see a pair of drow,” Minthara continued sharply, “drow women, atop of that. They see how we’re different, superior in all matters, and that makes them uncomfortable. It is not your burden to make them understand, much less to get ‘used to it’. It is their burden to learn respect.”
Mera’s eyes widened in surprise at the drow's strange, unexpected… Well, one could call empathy. For a moment, the hard edges of Minthara's features seemed to soften, and Mera caught a glimpse of understanding in her gaze.
“Never show vulnerability,” Minthara instructed firmly, “never let them know that they have affected you. It only feeds their ignorance and strengthens their misconceptions.”
“I… I'll try.” The girl answered, uncertainty still lingering in her voice. “You know, I thought... I thought a full drow would look down on me… Well, for being a ‘halfie’ and all." Mera murmured.
Minthara's gaze trailed off, contemplating the girl’s words for a moment. "Yes, that might happen," she admitted. Back in Menzoberranzan, Minthara herself had been one of those people. A notion that now, stripped from her seat of privilege, seemed meaningless. "There are those who may see your mixed blood as a weakness, a taint. But in the Underdark, there are undeniably more ways for a woman to prove her worth than on the surface."
Mera frowned in curiosity. "What do you mean?"
“In the Underdark, your heritage might be questioned, but your actions speak louder than blood,” she declared, her tone edged with superiority. “Demonstrate your strength, your cunning, your resilience, and they will respect you. The surface dwellers are too weak-minded to see beyond their prejudices and adapt their narrow world views. Among the drow, this is not the case. Even the highest among the noble Houses must strive for perfection in all things to keep their positions intact, otherwise they risk losing all respect ever achieved.”
Minthara watched as Mera processed her words, the girl's face etched with a mix of awe and thoughtful contemplation. “So stand tall," Minthara concluded, her voice softening slightly but still firm. "Do not let the surfacers’ ignorance sway you."
Mera nodded slowly, her brow furrowed in thought. The drow's confidence was both reassuring and intimidating, but she understood Minthara's words, even if they were delivered in a way that made her a bit uncomfortable.
Minthara watched as Mera's demeanor shifted again; the girl was now walking by her side, slightly mimicking her own stride and defiant posture, her chin held high as she met the wary stares of the villagers. Minthara's lips curled into a satisfied smile at this sight. For some reason, she reveled in the idea of being a role model to the girl, someone to be adored and followed, even by one of a mixed bloodline. The thought of shaping this young half-drow into something formidable pleased her deeply.
“Good,” Minthara murmured, her voice low and approving. “You’re learning. Remember this feeling. Let it drive you, strengthen you.” She felt a surge of pride, imagining the day when the half-drow girl would fully embody the qualities she intended to instill in her, the prospect filling her with a prideful joy.
Minthara’s reverie, just like her smile, was short-lived as a sudden realization struck her: she couldn’t afford to linger on this feeling. Her time here was limited, and she wouldn’t be around long enough to properly instruct the girl and see the results of her tutelage. Unexpectedly, the thought of leaving this promising youngling unfinished gnawing at her.
Minthara's brow furrowed in frustration as she wondered why this idea troubled her so much. It was unlike her to care about a complete stranger, especially a metis who was, by sheer coincidence, barely a means to an end. The girl's future should not matter to Minthara. Yet, the frustration she felt puzzled her. Was it just the thought of wasting potential? Was there an attachment she hadn't expected? Minthara's lips tightened as she considered this. She could not afford to be attached, especially now that she didn't have her paladin powers anymore. Mera was not, and could not become, her responsibility. Taking a slow breath, Minthara pushed all these thoughts aside. She had a purpose to pursue — get revenge on her traitors and bring Lolth's demise — and she couldn't be distracted by such things.
As they reached the familiar cavern along the riverbank, Mera quickened her pace, the prospect of reclaiming the precious lyre clearly driving the girl even more eagerly forward. Minthara followed closely, her keen eyes scanning the area for any signs of a new danger or unwanted company.
"This way," Mera called out, her voice tinged with excitement as she led the drow to an alcove concealed behind huge rocks in the river. Brushing aside a tangle of vines and foliage, the girl revealed a rather large raft, its weathered wooden planks floating on the water, hidden from casual view. Just as the girl said, crates, a barrel, and a chest were tied to it, although some of the ropes seemed to be worn down.
"Everything’s just as I left it,” Mera explained, "No one's been near it, I'm sure."
Minthara nodded, inspecting the raft. The girl’s eyes gleamed with anticipation. "I'll go fetch the lyre," she replied, already turning to make her way deeper into the cavern. "Wait here. I'll be right back."
Before Minthara could respond, the girl had sprinted into the shadows, her footsteps echoing against the damp, rocky walls. Alone now, Minthara took the opportunity to inspect the raft more closely, jumping into the waist-high waters to see what's inside the crates.
The drow carefully pried open the lids of the crates, her eyes surveying the contents. As Mera had claimed, it was filled with an assortment of items – clothing, jewelry, and various other objects.
But as she began to sift through the contents, a strange realization dawned on her. These were not random trinkets or supplies scavenged by raiders. These were her own belongings, items she had packed and brought with her on her journey back home.
Minthara's brow furrowed in confusion as she held up a familiar silk nightgown, the dark hues instantly recognizable. Nestled beneath it, she found the intricately carved leather diary she had crafted herself a couple years ago. A small terrarium lay beneath it, housing a small portion of minuscule bioluminescent mushrooms she cultivated back home. Piece by piece, she uncovered more of her personal effects.
Minthara's lips pressed into a thin line as she hastily flipped through the pages of her diary. She was searching for any clues, answers, or insights that could help her recall the events leading up to her brush with death, but the drow knew she would need to take the time to thoroughly read through the entries to piece together what had happened.
Mera emerged from the shadows, a triumphant grin on her face as she clutched the familiar lyre close to her chest. "I found it!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing through the cavern.
"Excellent, now help me out." she replied, her tone commanding yet warm. “Let's take my belongings back to your father's house.”
As Minthara continued to inspect the contents of the crates, a curious detail caught her eye. Aside from her personal belongings, there was no sign of the oars or poles typically used to navigate a raft. It was a subtle clue, but the absence of any means of propulsion just served to prove what she already deduced before – that she was left adrift in a deliberate act of sabotage. But it also indicated that someone else would guide her, or be on the other end to receive her. Now, the question to be answered, aside from who did it, was also who ordered it.
After both she and Mera took their places on the raft, the drow braced her uninjured leg against one of the large rocks lining the riverbank. With a powerful push, she propelled the raft out into the water, the current immediately seizing hold of it.
The current was calm enough today for them to be able to guide the raft to the shallow waters of the riverside, away from the fishermen’s area of work. Minthara was the first to jump out of it, reaching down and grasping the handle of a sturdy-looking barrel, hoisting it up and slinging it over her shoulder. The drow's muscles tensed slightly beneath the weight, but her movement remained fluid and confident. Shifting her grip, she then bent down and wrapped her free arm around the chest, lifting it with a barely perceptible strain. The weight of the chest pressed against her side as she straightened, and she could feel the curious stares of the villagers upon her. The sight of a woman of her stature effortlessly carrying a heavy barrel and chest was probably an uncommon one, and the onlookers' eyes widened in a mixture of surprise and weariness.
Minthara couldn't help but be amused at their reaction, though her expression remained stoic. These simple-minded folk had clearly underestimated her strength, a mistake they better learn not to make again.
Beside her, Mera struggled to keep up, the girl's face flushed with exertion as she lugged a single crate in her arms. Despite the girl’s obvious distress, not a single person stepped forward to offer assistance. The villagers kept their distance, their gazes wary and apprehensive, as if fearing the drow's very presence. Minthara couldn't help but feel a pang of irritation at their cowardice. Surely, the girl's lack of physical vigor was a liability, one that the drow would need to address in the future — if Mera ever meant anything to her beyond this moment, that is. Which was most unlikely. In any case, for now, Minthara had to focus on pressing on.
Upon reaching Halsin's home, Minthara carefully set down the barrel and chest, her muscles tensing briefly under the strain. Mera scurried to deposit the crate she had carried with so much sacrifice with a painful sigh, recovering her breath with labored gasps. Sparing a glance at Mera, Minthara nodded in the direction of the lyre, silently encouraging the girl to retrieve the promised prize.
"Go on, child," she murmured, her tone almost gentle. "I'll see to the unpacking."
Mera hesitated for a brief moment, her eyes darting between Minthara and the interior of the home. But the drow's unwavering gaze and the promise of the lyre were enough to spur the girl into action, and she hurried towards the veranda, her footsteps echoing against the wooden floorboards.
Left alone, Minthara sank down onto the well-worn settee, her fingers already reverently tracing the familiar contours of her leather-bound diary. The answers might lie within these pages, but lately she had acquired the habit of coding all her thoughts in seemingly dismissive and nonsensical entries. Decoding them would take time, and for a brief moment, she cursed herself for this practice.

Okay 1 I’m new to your blog but I’ve read your pin post. 2 you’ve content has just kept on showing up hence why I’m here and 3 can I request BG3 ladies reaction to gn Reader who has a habit of adopting children on the streets so when they come home to Baldurs gate. Alllll of Readers kids are like “Papa/Mama!” I just can’t help but laugh at the pure Chaos that would happen
I love the idea you were just browsing the tag and I just would not stop showing up and you were just like ah ffs might as well
mwhahaha welcome to this mess
This is such a sweet request and I had so much fun writing it!
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Karlach:
The streets of Baldur's Gate hummed with life as you and Karlach made your way home. The closer you got, the more your heart pounded with anticipation and a touch of anxiety. You had mentioned your habit of adopting children off the streets to Karlach, but you had definitely downplayed the number.
As you rounded the corner to your home, a chorus of excited shouts erupted.
“Y/N!” A whirlwind of children of all ages, from teenagers to toddlers, rushed towards you. In an instant, you were surrounded, hugged, and pulled in every direction.
Karlach’s eyes widened with surprise, but a wide grin quickly spread across her face. “Well, I’ll be damned! Look at all these little rascals!”
One of the older kids, a lanky teen with tousled hair, pointed excitedly at Karlach. “You’re the one from the letters! The big, strong one!”
Karlach laughed heartily, dropping to her knees to be at eye level with the children. “That’s right! And you must be the ones Y/N never stops talking about.”
Chaos ensued as Karlach was bombarded with questions and challenges. She revelled in the chaos, roughhousing with the older kids, lifting the younger ones in the air, and roaring with laughter. One by one, the children warmed up to her, their initial awe giving way to delighted squeals and playful shoves.
Karlach’s enthusiasm was infectious, and soon, the entire street was filled with the sounds of joy and laughter. She wrestled with the teenagers, showing them moves and tips while effortlessly juggling the toddlers, who giggled uncontrollably.
As you watched Karlach seamlessly integrate into the lively chaos, your heart swelled with gratitude and love. She caught your eye over the heads of your children, her smile softening into something more intimate and tender.
“Hey, Y/N,” she called out, her voice warm with affection. “I think I’m gonna like it here.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Minthara:
The walk home with Minthara was filled with a comfortable silence, the drow warrior’s presence a steady anchor beside you. You had told her about your habit of adopting children off the streets, but you hadn’t quite been upfront about the sheer number of them.
As you neared your home, the familiar sound of children’s laughter and chatter grew louder. Suddenly, a small army of kids of all ages burst from the house, their faces lighting up at the sight of you. “Y/N!” they cried, rushing towards you. Minthara’s eyes widened in surprise, her expression quickly shifting to one of mild shock as she was swept up in the chaos.
“By Lolth’s web,” she muttered, stepping slightly behind you as the children swarmed. You were surprised she hadn't leapt up on your shoulder yet and started hissing at them, but there was still time. She came close to doing so when your toddler grabbed at the end of her robes, their little fingers covered in their own drool.
But before Minthara yelled at you to get it off of her, an older child, a girl with bright eyes and a confident stance, approached Minthara, looking at her in awe. “You’re Minthara, right? The drow, the one that saved Y/N?”
Minthara blinked, momentarily taken aback. “Yes, that’s correct,” she replied, her voice cautious as she still panicked about the grubby toddler that was advancing their assault, now using her robes as a tissue.
The girl’s eyes sparkled with admiration. “Can you teach us? Please? Y/N said you are the best fighter she has ever met!”
Minthara’s initial reaction was to scowl and correct the child that she was the best fighter ever, but the earnestness in the girl’s eyes softened her. “Teach you?” she repeated, glancing at you for guidance.
You gave her an encouraging smile and to her relief, scooped up the toddler that was about to wipe something on Minthara's leg. “They’d love to learn from you, Minthara.”
Minthara hesitated but then nodded, her usual stern demeanor relaxing slightly. “Very well. I can teach you a few things.”
The older children gathered around her, their excitement palpable. Even the previous enemy toddler, wobbling on unsteady legs, looked up at her with wide, curious eyes. Minthara knelt down, her movements careful and deliberate, and began to demonstrate basic dagger holds.
As she spoke to them, her confidence grew, and the children listened intently, mimicking her movements with the sticks they had. The initial chaos had given way to a more organized form of learning, with Minthara guiding them patiently.
You watched with a smile, your heart swelling with affection and pride. When Minthara had sent them off and returned to you, she gave you a small, almost shy smile.
“This,” she said quietly, “is not what I expected.”
You chuckled, stepping closer to her. “Welcome to the family, Minthara. It’s always a bit chaotic, but there’s a lot of love here.”
She nodded, a hint of warmth in her eyes. “I can see that. And perhaps,” she added, glancing at the children who were now eagerly practicing the dagger holds she had taught, “this small army isn’t so bad after all.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Lae'zel:
Returning to Baldur's Gate with Lae'zel by your side, you felt a mix of excitement and nerves. You had mentioned your habit of adopting children off the streets, but you hadn’t quite conveyed just how many there were. As you turned the corner to your home, a wave of voices erupted.
“Y/N!”
Suddenly, a throng of children rushed towards you. They encircled you in an instant, their arms wrapping around you, pulling you in every direction. Lae'zel’s eyes widened in surprise, her usual stern demeanor faltering.
“What is this chaos?” she demanded, her voice tight with alarm. “Where is the discipline?”
One of the teenagers tugged at your sleeve, laughing. “Who’s the scary lady?”
“Lae'zel, this is my family,” you said, turning to her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder, “They’re just excited to see us. Relax and go play with them.”
Lae'zel looked at you, clearly puzzled. “Play? What do you mean by play?”
You smiled, crouching down to address the younger children. “Kids, I have a super important adventure for you, do you think you can handle it?"
"We're not babies Y/N of course we can!" The little children shouted at you.
"Okay, well if you think you can handle it" You said in mock disbelief "Can you teach Lae'zel how to play?”
With delighted giggles, the children took Lae'zel by the hands, leading her towards a game of tag. She stood stiffly at first, unsure of how to engage. But as the children ran around her, laughing and encouraging her to join, she began to loosen up.
One of the younger kids, a girl with pigtails, tugged on Lae'zel’s hand. “Come on, Lae'zel! It’s fun!”
Lae'zel hesitated but then nodded, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips. “Very well. Show me how to… play.”
You watched with a mix of amusement and affection as Lae'zel, the fierce warrior, was gradually drawn into the children’s games. Her initial panic gave way to tentative enjoyment, and soon she was running and laughing with the rest of them.
When she caught your eye across the yard, her smile was radiant. “I am still not certain about this play,” she called out, “but it is not entirely unpleasant!”
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Shadowheart:
Walking through Baldur’s Gate with Shadowheart, you felt a sense of anticipation. You had told her about your habit of adopting children off the streets, but you hadn’t gone into detail about the number of kids you’d taken in. As you approached your home, a joyful chorus greeted you.
“Y/N!”
A swarm of children of all ages came rushing towards you, their faces lighting up with excitement. They surrounded you in an instant, hugging you and clamoring for your attention. Shadowheart’s eyes widened in surprise, her usually composed demeanor giving way to uncertainty.
“Oh my,” she murmured, glancing at you. “This is… a lot of children.”
“Shadowheart, meet my family,” you said with a smile, you then leaned in and whispered to her, “Just go with the flow.”
She nodded, still looking a bit bewildered. One of the younger kids, a little boy with curly hair, grabbed her hand. “Come play with us, Lady Battleflower!”
Shadowheart blinked. “Lady Battleflower?”
“Yes, you’re Lady Battleflower now!” the boy declared with a giggle.
Shadowheart gave you a bemused look, but she allowed the children to lead her away. You watched as she was drawn into a tea party, the children fussing over her, placing imaginary crowns on her head and handing her tiny cups.
Later, you found her still seated at a tiny table, a group of kids around her. She was holding a teacup delicately, playing along with their game. One of your children corrected her posture, insisting that Lady Battleflower must sit with grace.
You approached with a grin, ruffling your children's hair as you walked past them towards your beloved. “Shadowheart, may I join your tea party?”
Shadowheart looked up, a slight blush on her cheeks. “Only if you address me properly,” she said, her tone playful. “Lady Battleflower demands it.”
"Oh my apologies," You laughed, taking a seat beside her. “Lady Battleflower. It’s an honor.”
As your children continued their game, you exchanged a smile with Shadowheart. She was clearly out of her element, but she was making an effort, and the children adored her for it.
Later, as you sat together, watching the children play, Shadowheart leaned close to you. “This is… different,” she admitted. “But it’s not as overwhelming as I thought.”
You squeezed her hand. “Thank you for trying, Shadowheart. It means a lot.”
She smiled, a genuine warmth in her eyes. “Anything for you, Y/N. And it's Lady Battleflower, actually, your dismissal is offensive, I require five kisses as reparation”
"Only five?" You asked as you leaned towards her, "I believe someone of your stature requires, much, much more." You pulled Shadowheart into a deep passionate kiss, forgetting that you were surrounded by kids who quite quickly made theirselves known.
"Oh my gods, I'm going to throw up!"
"Somebody gouge my eyes out, please"
"Ah! they are eating each other!"

Lae’zel: *standing beside her silently watching as well* …
Halsin: You’re both broody over her as well I see.
Minthara: her prowess in battle had already captivated me, but her presence as a matriarch is, astounding.
Lae’zel: how can hands that have so ruthlessly spilled blood, hold a child with such loving and gentle care? It is, magnificent…
Halsin: I’m pleased to see you both so infatuated and in agreement with each other.

BG3 headcanons (modern AU)
My brain is full of headcanons and I need to get them out!
Shadowheart: She’s an English teacher. Always advocates for her queer students, who see her as a refuge. Loves sweets and pastries and is always carrying a snack in her backpack. Dyes her hair once a month, different colour every time. Chronically online, Tumblr and Twitter user, has the best taste in memes out of all the gang. Writes poetry and fan fiction. Grew up in a cult and lives with religious trauma, but she goes to therapy and does her very best.
Astarion: He’s a lawyer, of course. Has an impeccable aesthetic in his instagram profile, with a defined palette. Very good taste in clothing. He was physically and emotionally abused by his stepfather when he was a kid and hasn’t really worked through this trauma (Shadowheart always encourages him to go to therapy). Very close friends with Shadowheart.
Minthara: Lawyer, but has specialised in finance and has rapidly climbed the financial ladder via questionable methods. CEO of a major company. Impeccable taste in fashion. Vegan. Has a section in her closet filled with BDSM paraphernalia. Everything she owns is expensive. She’s the daughter of a powerful senator who was very emotionally abusive to her growing up. Staunch defender of capitalism. Wakes up naturally at 5 am. Does yoga and tai chi.
Lae’zel: She’s in the air force, has wanted to be since she was a girl. She’s in the spectrum and has only recently realised. Her special interests are planes and meteorology. Wakes up very early to run 10k. Extremely mindful about her eating, every meal is perfectly balanced for her specific nutritional needs.
Karlach: Non-binary. P.E teacher, works at the same school as Shadowheart and that’s how they met and started dating. Loves large dogs. They are a personal trainer on the side. Loves going to the gym and is very supportive of new people. Friends with Wyll since high school.
Jaheira: Anthropologist, environmental and anti-gentrification activist. Has lived in her neighbourhood forever and hates that it’s getting gentrified. Being a local icon and leader, a few political parties have tried to get her to run for office but she always refuses because she doesn’t trust the establishment. Has been arrested multiple times at demonstrations. She’s so devoted to her activism that she has neglected her children at times. Chain smoker.
Halsin: Environmental lawyer. Has worked in multiple NGOs. Has been to therapy. Single, not for a lack of suitors, but because he wants to find a life partner. Has been a vegetarian for decades. Has a bear tattoo.
Wyll: Entrepreneur. Devoted to The Grind™. Has taken classes on gender politics. Goes to the gym with Karlach and uploads mirror selfies. Has asked Minthara to be his mentor but she keeps refusing. Has also been to therapy.
Gale: Successful academic. Has been going through a terrible divorce with another famous and powerful academic. Excellent cook, makes his own sourdough bread. Likes the finer things in life.
Bonus: My OC, Ramona
Literature major but has no academic ambition whatsoever. She does know a lot about it and runs a literature club for troubled teenagers with Shadowheart.
Was working as a barista when she met Minthara and was immediately enthralled.
Has shared a flat with Shadowheart since uni, and they’re best friends.
She’s easily the funniest one in the gang.
Always manages to get free stuff or discounts just because of how nice and persuasive she is.
Excellent liar (white lies, mostly).
Wears recycled clothing almost exclusively, which Minthara hates.
Everyone hated Minthara when they first started dating but over time, as she changed, they managed to put up with her, even growing fond of her (most of them).
I’ve been trying to write some fics but I can’t seem to find the courage to. I enjoy coming up with headcanons more

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Spread the self-love ❤️
Tumblr media
(@femmeharel) thank youuuuu to the both of youuuu 🥺🥺🥺
also *voice of a person who has only written five fics* damn, however will i ever be able to select five fics, just five of my beautiful children while leaving the rest out in the cold. (unserious way to say i dont have to sophie's choice my children, so might as well rank them instead)
babygirl numero 1: "it would not be i any longer (it would be we, it would be us)" stricly speaking, my worst stats-wise and the most niche but i love it so dearly. will never not plug my minthara de winter fic bc it is everything i would want to read: crazy psychosexual drama; gothic pastiche; unwell people making ill adivsed decisions. one day it might even be finished too!
babygirl numero 2: "you've a gift for hating (you should know, you're the expert)" the lion in winter-esque adversarial relationship between my two strongest character fixations for bg3, how could i not love it dearly. also extremely proud of the fact that i do, after months, still think the setup and the chemistry just work and are believable. hardest part of writing for non-existant pairs
babygirl numero 3: "I wish the hand of god would come and relieve me of this way" just really love how well i pulled the selene&isobel simmetry here. sincerely incredible result on my part
babygirl numero 4: "the world is not enough (but it's a wonderful place to start)" triangulation of desire: the fic. love it very dearly, it was my first fanfic after something like three years and it still holds up. very bataillean.
babygirl numero 5: "Appel du Vide" really proud of how i challenged myself at writing smut, which im not super interested into and not very good at it besides, and to do it as fucked up as i wanted. incredibly offputting sex, love it tremendously

I'm not huge on kids or parent HCs usually but your parent headcanons were so so cute I was tearing up a bit 😭❤️
- Tressym Anon (gonna start signing since this is the second ask I've sent- hope that's alright!)
Thank you so much <3 Aaaa writing it was very fun honestly, imagining the companions being silly and their different dynamics with their kids is entertaining.
Also yes it's definitely alright! Imma add you to the anon list.
Like I think the ones who were most deprived of love would be the ones to show it the most, be tender and really affectionate with their kids like karlach, Astarion and Shadowheart. Sure it might be out of character but that's the point, being a parent changes you as a person since your life won't just belong to you anymore.
For Laezel and Minthara, i feel like they will struggle with showing affectionate, as much as they want to he the loving parent, they will leave that job to you after failing so many times. Instead they fall more on the protective and fair side, they give their kids the courtsy they'd extend to adults, they don't treat them as lesser than them or incapable, they treat them as future adults yet still keep their limitations in mind.
Wyll, and Gale fall under the "was spoiled growing up and now spoils their kids" category. At least Wyll shows some restraint, mostly his kids think he is the coolest person ever so they listen to him. Meanwhile Gale thinks his kids are the coolest people ever so he listens to them and enables them a lot, lets them spend past their monthly allowance and makes them midnight waffles.
Halsin also ends up spoiling his kids, but less of a human material way and more of an elf way if it makes sense? It's honestly hard to tell if he is even spoiling them by elf standards since they coddle their kids by default until they're 100 years old. So Halsin might just end up treating them as his precious baby children even after they grow up. Whenever they get into trouble they go to him because they know he will take their side and minimize their faults to you, saying they're just kids not above their 50 years of age so go easy on them.
Bonus Durge, they would completely spoil their kids but also take them on their "job" and just carry around a newborn in those chest straps and a toddler on a leash as they go on a murder spree.
"Timmie, stop playing with the guy's dismembered arm. It's not hygienic. We don't know where it's been!" Durge turns back to face the guy they've been preferoming a vivisection on, "ah no offence to you of course, you know kids- TIMMIE I SWEAR TO BHAAL PUT THAT OUT OF YOUR MOUTH, WE ONLY CANNABLISE DISINFECTED MEAT."

Modern Day AU
I spent a moment to think what everyone would be up to in a modern day AU.
Astarion: He was pre-law when he got caught up with Cazador. It's less a vampire spawn situation and a more straightforward abuse situation. I think in the AU he was also much younger when Cazador found him. Once he breaks free of Cazador, he might go back into law. He'd end up in therapy and he'd probably have to take a step back to re-evaluate what he wants in life.
Gale: Of course he's a professor. With magic off the table in this particular AU, he'd probably teach as many subjects as they'd let him. Students would constantly have deja vu seeing him in so many classes. He'd be teaching somewhere like Cambridge or Oxford. The subjects that came to mind were English, History of Art, Linguistics, Philosophy, and for reasons I can't explain, German.
Shadowheart: Her ass would be in a cult. She was kidnapped into some kind of Gloriavale situation as a kid. She'd eventually get a taste of freedom and leave the cult for good, especially if a Tav comes her way. Then she'd write a tell-all book and do a lot of Ted Talks about it. As she got older, she'd become more reclusive. She'd write books from her little countryside house full of animals.
Halsin: Halsin would still be a tree-hugging hippy. He'd have an environmentalism related job, like wind turbine technician, environmental technician, or solar installer. (I imagine he'd want something very hands on.) He'd 100% be part of a nudist colony. He'd still be poly, and he'd be very choosey about who he lets into the polycule.
Lae'zel: She'd go to university where she'd be expanding her world. It would force her to unpack her unhealthy home life is. She was probably raised in a jingoistic family. After discovering the power of friendship and self-discovery, she'd make better choices for herself. She'd still be INCREDIBLY disciplined so I imagine she'd be an athlete. Either she'd do professional rugby or MMA. She might do pro wrestling. She wouldn't join the theatrics on purpose. They'd just tap into her natural persona for her character.
Karlach: She worked for Gortash before he made a name for himself in politics. I'm still trying to work out exactly what would happen to her. I imagine he framed her in this universe and she spent 10 years in prison instead of Avernus. Now she's out and wants revenge... but also would love to get her life back. Possibly she has a chronic illness that, if untreated, could kill her. It's not a 1-to-1 for her heart situation, but close.
Jaheira: She refuses to ever retire from her work. She's been a part of almost every humanitarian world org that'll have her, like The Peace Corps. She now runs her own organization that travels the world for humanitarian efforts. She's a widow and she's still the mother to several adopted children.
Wyll: He was on track to make his father proud. He was going to Oxford to study politics until he realized how much he hated it. His father is the mayor of a major city. I'm hesitant to say London because it feels too obvious. Instead, Wyll drops out to pursue humanitarian work. This is where his path crosses with Jaheira as he joins her organization. His father just doesn't get it and they're at odds over it.
Minthara: Military brat who grew up to join the British Military. In her off time, she's in the BDSM scene.
Orin: She is either running a true crime podcast or being talked about on one. Either that or she's a CEO of a drug company a la The Fall of the House of Usher (2023).
Gortash: This dude is running as a Tory and you know it. He left a huge trail of problematic behavior on his Twitter. He made an anonymous Reddit account to post relationship problems on, but everyone figured out it was him almost immediately.
Barcus: This poor man is so tired. He never found his "dream" and he's been going from job to job for decades. After he starts to stand up for himself, he opens an online store based on all his interests and thrives.
I might do more later, but this is all I could think of for now.

i see serena in that minthara outfit, i see what youre doin there. unrelated note, what are some things that serena & shadowheart are able to do to instantly render the other speechless that dont involve touching (e.g. kissing etc)? maybe outfits/gestures/phrases/etc
I have accidentally killed Minthy like 4 times now ☹️ But her outfit is hot so I mean might as well put it to use and get rid of those default “homely clothes” lol. But I’m sure Shads appreciates the cleavage.
Good question 🤔 I wrote you a novel bc I couldn’t decide
Phrases:
We all know the classics “Lover, my heart, etc.” but I do think Serena gets into the habit of calling Shadowheart “my everything”, like she did introducing her to Althaea. That always leaves Shadowheart breathless.
Also: Any time anyone addresses either of them as “Lady Tavyndír or Lady Hallowleaf” or any variation of their joint names. 🥹 it’s always a pleasant jolt to remember their new titles from marriage.
Outfits:
This is kind of a moot category bc Serena likes Shadowheart in everything and Shadowheart particularly likes Serena in nothing 🤭 but their fave fits on each other:
Shadowheart: cloister fit (RIP 😔), the elegant robe (the white dress), the wavemother’s robe, her armor.
Tav goes feral for thigh slits on Shadowheart’s dresses and the low dipping necklines (ease of access 😊). She also likes seeing Shadowheart in lighter colors, after wearing black for so long. And ofc who does not swoon for warrior Shadowheart in her armor?
Serena: anarchic white/blue fit, also the elegant robe (lbr she probably borrows Shads’), Helldusk Armor.
Serena looks good in her armor and Shadowheart definitely fantasizes about her chivalrous knight doing some not so chivalrous things to her in Raphael’s literal armor.
But speechless??? The first time she sees Serena truly clean up at Elfsong or Last Light- somewhere with supplies and a mirror, preferably. Maybe even a touch of makeup. The first time she sees Serena in one of those white and gold anarchic fits or even a dress, grime and blood washed away, hair clean and loose around her shoulders for a change… let’s just say Shar gives Shadowheart some wicked mental lashings out of jealousy over Shadowheart’s attention.
And lastly, I think lingerie leaves both of them speechless, every time. But that was a given lol.
Other:
-Every time they see each other playing with or entertaining children. When Shadowheart kneels, voice soft and gentle, to play with Xan at her birthday party- Serena’s heart stutters pathetically. Shadowheart is just so kind, soft, beautiful and warm in her demeanor- and she’s extra soft around children, now that she’s gotten the hang of it. And vice versa- Shadowheart finding Tav outside the cottage, as the local kids pile atop her and put flowers in her hair?? 🥹💕 it renders her speechless. She wants that for themselves so badly.
-Shadowheart is speechless every time Serena is thoughtful towards her parents out of the blue (so …always). From Serena getting up early to make them breakfast, to helping them with chores, to learning Emmeline’s recipes, to learning to write Espruar with Arnell, making sure Emmeline never has to carry anything too heavy, buying them gifts from the city…. She loves Tav so desperately. Serena goes out of her way to be of service to her entire family and Shadowheart can’t even breathe if she thinks about it for too long, overcome with affection as she is.
-Just…any time either of them is holding Jen in their arms 💕 Seriously. It’s a dream come true for both of them. It makes them choked up to the point they can’t speak. So they let her do the babbling and stare at each other with the most loving, tear-filled gazes

Writing this down before I forget it:
Just imagine if we could take Ketheric with us after the battle in moonrise towers. Just. Try to imagine, ok?
This old man has been completely corrupted by desperation and loneliness that he gave his body, soul and mind to the two most evil gods of faerun, got completely twisted by them even mentally and committed a few of the most atrocious things faerun has ever seen. He doomed a land, families and their children, all to have back what he had lost. But then he realises it was not worth it.
Isobel is not with him. Melodia would never love the man he is now, and he knows it.
If you tell him on top of the towers before the battle that melodia wouldn’t want this he surrenders. I repeat: this man SURRENDERS. I hate the fact that then he goes on with the “it’s too late” path, but honestly my bard has the same vibes of mob from mob psycho 100, so old man get the fuck up, you’re part of this fucked family now.
He surrenders, gives everything up, and he lives a mortal life wanting to put an end to the chosens with you. Him and Minthara become friends, she cherishes his company as an amazing general, he appreciates her stubbornness and her strength of mind. He manages to make her change her mind about taking the absolute’s power saying “taking the place as the absolute would only drain you: not only you would have no one to rule, but soulless beings that would never comprehend your mind, but you too would become one of them one day, it’s inevitable, no matter how much power you’d have. But most importantly… you’d be alone. Alone with no menzoberazzan waiting for you, no home, and no general like me to sustain you, no one that would fight at your side and drink with you in the evening until you’re completely drunk. We are even stronger than these monsters, imagine ruling as us. Being just us. No power, but the power of our word, no loneliness anymore, but the joy pf having a place, your place, Minthara. You’re strong enough to do it without my help, or anyone’s actually, why would you want to cancel the wonderful being you are?”.
He rebecomes a father to Isobel, and you see him gaining the trust of Aylin even.
Even Ayilin sees a man that is changing, now more than ever.
At the end him, Aylin and Isobel go back to moonrise, to become again worshippers of selune, but no rulers, he will just sit out of his new little house, on a wooden chair, maybe smoking, reading, until one day he will pass away in peace.

Loved your insight on Shadowheart. There is fiction out there that I can literally read in her voice and think: That's SH. And then there is some where she is just so ooc. I have a question tho: First what did you mean with 'that woman' and second what do you think about SH and the Mizora scene. Many experience it as approval. I read it more as even a bit of insecurity. Also you can tell her twice that you think she is beautiful. And both times she thanks you but almost sounds a bit dismissive. Like she has heard it a lot already. Last one: I always hated that you can never really confront SH about the stuff in the Shadowlands. Also as cleric of Selune, I was a bit angry that you can't ask her if maybe Shar plans to have her kill you. I have a lot of feelings about that character.
Ah, you mean my post saying I was tired of Shadowheart being relegated to "the woman" role in fanart?
I have another post where I go on a tangent about it, so all I will say here is that some fandom portrayals of her feel stereotypical and dehumanizing rather than something that represents her character. Made to look like some AI generated barbie with big tits and a dollface as a result. It's frustrating to me because I wish people talked more about her story, but instead she is just "the woman".
As for Shadowheart's reaction to Mizora - it is certainly an aspect of her character intended by her writer for her to be open to vices. The writer uses Shadowheart's experience in the Sharran cult to portray her as a natural dark mistress. Any scenes that involve references to bondage, temptation, vices, obedience, punishment, or torture tends to have Shadowheart chiming in with a domme type shtick.
Additionally, on twitter, Shadowheart's writer offered ideas for writing general and spicy scenes with her:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I personally find this type of domme as providing a service and pretending rather than being fully into the dynamic. So I see the scene and associated behaviors in a dual way:
I think the author fully intends Shadowheart to be open and encouraging to sharing her partner, but that she also wants to be able to grant permission to it as a means of stability, commitment, and sexy control.
However I find aspects of Shadowheart's character to be realistically insecure, where I read a lot of Shadowheart's domme behaviors as predominantly play/roleplay in a way where she could not perform the role seriously or for the entirety of the relationship.
In scenes where she makes these types of comments, she seems bored. This boredom is sexy to subs who are into this (they like being dismissed), but it feels dispassionate in a way that is unsustainable. Compare this to Lae'zel's fiery dominance or Minthara's aura of authority. One of these things is not like the other.
It feels like Shadowheart is ok with the Mizora situation as a means of trying to gain control over the situation (read: insecurity) but also because the writer is intent on having Shadowheart be a medium to explore kink, which I find poorly integrated into the character. This is also the writer for Halsin, whose sexual nature and openness to poly also feels poorly integrated compared to his character from early access. Clearly I don't mind these aspects, but some of it doesn't fully vibe with the character portrayed.
Speaking of early access, for your last comment, Shadowheart's story got streamlined.
Tumblr media
In Act 1 (which is retained from early access), Shadowheart makes a pitch to you when asked about Shar worship.
"Shar, Mistress of the Night and Lady of Loss. Most fear the dark, like children, because in darkness they see their fears reflected. But Shar teaches us to step beyond fear. Beyond loss. In darkness we don’t hide, we act. Pain. Hope. The promise of better days. All of these are heavy cloaks that bend our backs and burden our hearts. "We shed those cloaks. Before Shar we stand gloriously naked, beyond the vanities of mortals. "We tear down the lies the world is drunk on: the institutions they trust, the so-called gods they worship. The lives they cling to. We destroy false idols, topple corrupt organizations, fight heretics wherever they're found. "There's often suffering - death even. Many people break before they embrace Shar's truths."
While we can write this off as propaganda she had been fed, it actually does sound like a convincing argument. Remember that Shadowheart's mission was to retrieve the artifact that held the truth of Vlaakith's reign. The truth that could undermine a tyrant. A false god. Ignoring the Emperor for a moment, the sharrans are acting as whistleblowers according to Shadowheart's description. Anarchist. Freedom via deconstruction of autocratic systems. (Although we know the truth of Shar is the destruction of all system. Order giving way to cosmic chaos. The end of all existence. She is divine oblivion.)
But once we get to the Shadowcursed lands, Shar worship is pretty much just a cult and only a cult. The only way anyone would ever join this cult is through brainwashing or intense grief. It really is a moment of that meme "Damn girl, you live like this?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It feels like originally, the writers were going with something that would make us see why someone would turn to Shar for philosophy, not just desperate salvation. I imagine you'd have had more debates as a Selunite or good-aligned god in that version of the game. Rather that what we got in launch version where is as basic as "come to the light child."
Shadowheart, we needed more of you and your story!

BG3 Tav Backstory Bash by Kelandrin
This is a challenge to help people flesh out their Tav’s backstory by exploring their past. It is organized into four sections with seven prompts. You can treat this as a monthly challenge or a general project. You can write headcanons, fics, or share art based on the prompts! You can interpret the prompts however you want. If you want to share use the tag #bg3backstorybash
I was tagged by @grenanigans <3
I tag @upturninginkpots and @quantum-dragon No pressure at all though!
I actually finally made a Tav with a backstory recently so this is good timing. Forgive me for getting any Githyanki lore wrong. I'm very new to the Forgotten Realms.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is Ga'rak (though who knows what his actual name is)
Tumblr media
Yes I just stole his name from Garak. XD I initially took to calling him this half-jokingly since he reminded me of the DS9 character and it sorta just stuck. (Tbh though he is almost more similar to Odo)
Age: 45-50 years old
Gender: Male
Childhood: Born into a typical Githyanki creche, his childhood was far from typical. Early on, he was singled out for his psionic potential, leading to his separation from the other Githyanki children so he never had any friends his age. His training emphasized not just physical combat but also the mental manipulation of others. High-ranking Githyanki, part of a coalition of commanders open to unconventional strategies, decided to use him as a spy to learn about Faerunian society in an effort to learn their weaknesses.
Teenager/Pre-Game: During his teenage years, he embraced the role of an Arcane Trickster and Lore Bard, atypical classes for a Githyanki. He was dispatched to the Sword Coast under the guise of a socialite, With the aid of spells like Disguise Self (to not appear Githyanki), etiquette lessons from a human teacher his Creche had kidnapped, and a generous flow of gold from Githyanki raids, he seamlessly infiltrated the upper echelons of Neverwinter's society. (I imagine his cover persona was a lot like Jay Gatsby) He's never been in love and I don't know if he will ever fall in love in the future to be honest. (At least none of the romance options in this game really make sense to me for him. Maybe Minthara? But eh.)
Tumblr media
Here is his half-elf disguise. He used it to trick the Tieflings holding Lae'zel captive. His name when he used this form as a spy was Garret or something like that XD.
His primary objective was espionage, identifying weaknesses for a future invasion and subtly undermining the government. As he immersed himself in the local culture, he encountered lifestyles that were very different from his oppressive upbringing. This exposure "corrupted him" and made him realize over the decades how unhappy he was in this role thrust upon him and how he didn't at all believe in the mission. He is also very cynical about the Githyanki government and doubts that Vlaakith is actually a god worth worshipping but he is too complacent to do anything about it. He is jaded and has resigned himself to this life. After all, revealing his doubts would only get him killed and he had no other paths available to him. That is, until he was tadpoled...
Tumblr media
Meeting Shadowheart
Adulthood:
The tadpole's effect caused his Disguise Self spell to be inactive when initially meeting the others, preventing him from concealing his species from this group. As he thought his mission being revealed could endanger him, even to other Githyanki, he concocted a half-truth, telling his companions he was in Faerun as a Githyanki scout, masking his true goals. (Lae'zel doubts his story due to his rustiness and unfamiliarity with Githyanki culture and customs)
Tumblr media
Freeing Gale
Having been isolated from other Githyanki for most of his life with his only contacts being his Githyanki handlers, he feels doubly estranged from both his own culture and the broader society of Faerun. (I was very inspired by stories of undercover agents having trouble re-integrating back into their home countries.)
He views others primarily as sources of information. While his main goal is to get rid of the tadpole, he also sees this time as an opportunity to gather more "sources." The tadpole gang becomes his targets, valued only as potential assets (particularly Wyll), yet he ultimately regards them as expendable.
Tumblr media
Making Conversation
Even though he can come off as affable and charming, his true personality is almost frighteningly calm and detached, traits that initially put him at odds with Astarion and Karlach, who he views as a loose cannons.
Since he is Gith he is skilled with a blade but he prefers not to get blood on his hands. He is a huge germaphobe. (This makes the tadpole even worse for him. Not to mention camping in the woods every night.)
I think he'll likely get along well with Wyll and the Emperor. He can relate to the Emperor's longing for freedom and level headedness, he also appreciates Wyll's impeccable manners and potential high value as a tool. He and Shadowheart would have a mutual respect despite his being a Githyanki, he and Minthara would be cordial, and he and Gale would enjoy discussing illusion magic together. I also think he has a bit of a soft spot for my friend @upturninginkpots's Tav and will eventually come to see her as something of a little sister, he'll give her advice on questioning her own beliefs.
Tumblr media
Here he is with @upturninginkpots's Tav, I'll allow her to introduce her. :)
Lae'zel's aggressive demeanor initially repels him, not least because of his own complicated relationship with Githyanki culture, and due to what he perceives as her "bull in a china shop" personality. She initially thinks he is a puny example of a Githyanki and she finds his cynical attitude to be blasphemous. He sees her as naive and foolish. They may eventually start to realize they have more in common than they think though and he will hopefully become something of a mentor to her in the future.
Tumblr media
Githyanki Reunion
Upon discovering more about Vlaakith's plans, I think he will fully commit to defection. I think at this point he would also tell the other companions his true mission. (I know I can't actually do this in the game but it will happen in my head haha) The challenging thing is whether he is willing to put aside his complacency to help free other Githyanki from her grip, potentially betraying the Emperor and risking his own life in the process. Another consideration is whether a certain headstrong Githyanki warrior will start to question her beliefs and defect as well.
Thank you for reading and thanks for the tag @grenanigans ! If anyone sees this post and you end up making your own Tav post please tag me! I'd love to see it. :)

WIP WEDNESDAY
Minthara was sitting on the floor with Fren, patiently guiding the tiny half-drow through the graceful motions of drow sign language. The little girl's eyes were wide with rapt attention, her chubby fingers mirroring Minthara's delicate gestures as she signed each word slowly and deliberately. "Very good, Fren," Minthara murmured encouragingly, "now, can you show me 'danger'?" The toddler furrowed her brow in concentration, her tiny hands rising to form the familiar sign. Minthara nodded approvingly, a rather large smile playing on her lips. "Excellent," she praised, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're a fast learner."

Wedding ask! Can I ask for your 1, 15 & 18? Any ship that you feel like doing ♡♡
omg you grabbed one of the ones I haven't figured out yet but I really need to lol So some of this is locked down and some of it is me being like "idk! I have ideas!"
Wedding, or something else?
Dani had always considered marriage one of those idealistic things that only happen to madly in love people, or else it was a political arrangement. Her mother never married and her sort-of-foster-dad/mentor never remarried after his wife died, and she didn't expect to ever fall into a long-term romantic relationship. Gale changed all of that and the moment he proposed she realized she wanted nothing more in the world than to be his wife and officially become part of his family.
(Bonus: Freyr never thought about marriage until Minthara suggested that they join houses and take over the world under his name. But he doesn't have a last name/house name. So Minthara gives him one; I wrote about that moment here. That basically becomes their marriage, but who knows, maybe they make things official with a ceremony later.)
Vows and Unity Ceremonies
I'll admit this part is hazy for me, because I kind of hate writing vows for some reason. I've written weddings before, but without an actual liturgical script...idk some of it comes across as campy to me? And sometimes vows can be boring. So this is the one part I haven't figured out fully because I want it to be good.
I do know that Dani and Gale write their own vows to each other. Gale's a poet (a headcanon I have FULLY accepted, thanks to @sorceresssundries and others) and Dani is a songwriter and amateur poet. So of course they write their vows to each other.
I feel like for a unity ceremony, they'd probably just do a simple handfasting. The same sash they use to dance their first dance with is probably also used to bind their hands or arms together during their vows or during a priest's blessing. I'm not sure if they do anything else, since their ceremony is pretty quick. But I could see them doing that much, at least.
I also saw someone suggest a Tymora wedding ritual where the couple flips coins until they both get coins that come up as "heads," and I like that idea too? I want to play around with this part more.
I Now Pronounce You...
Dani 100% takes Gale's last name. Zavrai is her mother's last name, but there's no urge for her or her mother to keep it going, and the minute Gale suggested that there be "two Dekarioses" in Baldur's Gate, it was all over. She dreamed of being Dani Dekarios every day after that. Technically her new "government name" is Meridan Dekarios but Dani Dekarios rolls off the tongue and she absolutely loves it.
(Bonus #1 - Freyr and Minthara share a new house name. At the moment, it's Deviir, because I was using old drow lore books to make a name and completely forgot that Viconia's last name is DeVir, but I might just change it to Daeviir and call it a day. But them both taking it on is the easiest decision either of them made.)
(Bonus #2 - Ardynn and Halsin don't get married because Halsin isn't a marriage kind of guy. That said, she is sometimes referred to in the Reclaimed Lands as Miss Silverbough or Mistress Silverbough by newcomers, and she doesn't really correct them. She answers to both Silverbough and her actual last name, Harrow. Also, any children she has with Halsin take his last name rather than hers, so...there's that.)
I appreciate you asking, friend!!

hello friends :-) below the cut are the summaries of the verses for my original characters as well as some info on them. it doesn't include all of them and i'll be working on a follow up with the rest! it also does not go SUPER into details about backgrounds or personality, because i personally find that those things are more fun to introduce during threads. if its not enough however and u still feel a little lost when / if i send u an ask meme / ask for a starter, pls feel free to send me a dm!
kirin keyes. 30. she / they pronouns. keke palmer fc.
main verse: ex (?) - scam artist lawyer working out of miami, shamelessly inspired by the one and only saul goodman. good person deep, deep, deep down but undeniably materialistic and desperate for success. superficially charismatic, tends to become a stuttering mess when there's real feelings on the line. alt. verse includes them working in (insert town name where your muse can be found) after their involvement with a miami crime org. went sideways and put them on the run. the boys: works as either a reporter for vought news international or as an in company attorney. they're either unpowered or has the ability to manipulate time, working similarly to curtis’ powers in the show misfits e.g. their power only triggers when a strong feeling of regret occurs. bridgerton: probably working as barrister to one or several of the families within the ton, trying to sell themselves into other families. might also be trying to scam them out of their money, who knows! cyberpunk: this verse is seriously underdeveloped but i think it could be fun to write them as being a fixer, idk! baldurs gate: hailing from waterdeep, they were ( prior to being kidnapped by the netherbrain ) an eloquence bard involved with a legal organization known as the lawyers. i imagine them as a companion rather than tav in this verse, and their approval goes up when the pc: avoids combat through charisma based checks, tricks an npc into giving them something, is nice to the elderly and to children. while in the party they can be overheard getting along well with most of the other party members, exceptions possibly being lae’zel, shadowheart and minthara. lots of stupid banter hehe
rune floyd. 30. they / them pronouns. katy o’brian fc.
main verse: left their suburban hometown with their adoptive father after the traumatic death of their mother. they end up owning and living at a farm, isolating themselves from the rest of the world and only interacting with other people through trading various goods. they're quiet, hard-working and have a good head on their shoulders - also a little bit of a saviors complex. the kind of person that would stop to help a stranger stranded on the side of the road. the boys verse: either works as security personnel / a personal trainer at vought or could still be a farmer the same as their main verse, interacting with a character through said being on the run and stumbling across their farm, etc. their powers include superhuman strength and invulnerability, think luke cage. various apocalyptic verses: even in their main verse, rune and their father are preppers. the same stands for these kind of verses. maybe your muse could end up stuck w them by stumbling into one of the traps set out around their farm? maybe they get trapped together during a storm? etcetc (-: ( if u cant tell i love forced proximity plots ) baldurs gate: nothing super established here, besides them being a barbarian class & a tiefling who can be found in the emerald grove & traded with. maybe they offer to join tav after the goblin camp is dealt with??? maybe theyre simply a reoccuring traveler who the party runs into throughout the various acts
ophelia han. 23. she / her pronouns. song yuqi.
main verse / the boys: the youngest and newest addition to the seven. grew up in a christian household, put in the limelight early through various pageants and such. was in a car accident involving her older brother as a teen, in which she was the only survivor. this, combined with her childhood — and her neurodivergency makes ophelia come across as cold, robotic; fitting to her powers which are essentially that most of her body ( beneath her skin ) is mechanical, though simultaneously alive. she regenerates at almost any injury and can shape her limbs into various weaponry. she does what vought tells her to do, because it's what she's used to, but her loyalties are fragile. gen v: the ice princess of godolkin. would be at the top of the rankings if they were solely based off skill and studies, but she lacks in charisma and popularity with the other students. would most likely side with cate and sam at the end of season 2.

Get to know my OCs: Siblings dynamic:
So you may have noticed that in my fanfics I love writing sibling dynamics, like, a lot. So here's some quick facts:
Tumblr media
Sentry Ojeda:
Siblings: Orin the Red(canon character obviously), Gabraela Grimmaldi(OC), Jakael 'Jackal' Silk (OC), and Tomi Kisaragi (OC)
Dynamic inspirations: Disney side kicks, The Firefly family (House of 1,000 Corpses), The Usher Family (Fall of the House of Usher), The Largo Family (Repo! The Genetic Opera)
Tumblr media
Gabraela Grimmaldi:
Love interest: Minthara Baenre
Backstory: born to a mortal mother who had been impregnated by Bhaal, Gabraela had a normal life for twenty eight years, joining The Flaming Fist and having a successful career, marrying a kind and loving orcish man and giving birth to happy, healthy daughter. But when her daughter was eight years old, father's whispers told her to kill her loving family as well as her Flaming Fist unit. She has been devoted to the Bhaalist temple ever since, though she regrets what she did.

Tomi Kisaragi:

Backstory: the result of a dalliance between Bhaal and an ancient fey being native to Kozakura. Jakael 'Jackal' Silk:
Love interest: one sided obsession with Astarion
Jackal was born to a lesser noble family in Menzoberranzan, a third son, he was not gotten rid of because his family was known for handsome boys and as a lesser house traded on their ability to essentially whore their sons out the matriarchs and high born women of families that outranked them. When he was still quite young, Jakael was sold as a plaything to a wealthy, much older woman who abused him horribly for fun. One day he pushed her away from him in fear, sending her tumbling to her death down the grand staircase. It felt good and led to him making his way to the surface, killing more women along the way. Eventually he made his way to Baldur's Gate and committed murder after murder until he was caught and sent to an asylum. He was freed by Tomi and Gabraela, who revealed to him that his true father was Bhaal and welcomed him to the temple.

Jaina Thalassia:
Siblings: Tiburon "Tibs" Thalassia (OC, her twin)
Dynamic inspirations: Vex'ahlia and Vax'ildan(Vox Machina), Jaina and Tandred Proudmoore(World of Warcraft)
Tumblr media
Tiburon 'Tibs' Thalassia:
Love interest: his wife
Tiburon and Jaina have been close ever since they were born. They always played and explored together as children. Tibs wanted to wield a sword one day like his father until the day he accidentally killed Jaina while they were playing. Although she was resurrected safe and sound, it stuck with him and since then, he has switched to blunt weapons in close combat, though ultimately preferring ranged weapons. He became a Flaming Fist junior trainee when he was twelve and joined up fully at fifteen. When he was sixteen, he met and fell in love with a fellow officer and married her, having a daughter. His family helps Jaina whenever they can and Tibs also helps her get rid of predators who would harm Jaina's students, using his pull with the Fist to cover up the disappearances.

MINTHY <3 Where to begin with Minthara… I guess by stating that this will be colored by the fact that everything I know about her is through osmosis from the wiki and x readers. Would she be a good fit for me? Doubtful. Would she think I'm too sensitive for this world and would not survive the winter? More likely. That being said, when I was thinking about buying the game I was fully prepared to commit atrocities for her.
No judgment to others intended, but I really like how you write her as more than just a cruel, sadistic dom. I mean, she can be cruel but not to me >:) This line from your "how would they drink your blood" drabbles says it best, I think - She takes great care of her belongings. Just love how she can show her softer side (soft for her, at least) but never loses that possessiveness~ And in the "romantic gifts they'd give you" piece - showing you her tender heart and then following that up by giving you the disembodied heads of your enemies? Hooooooo boy that's what it's all about!!!!
Homewarming Gift was the first fic of yours I read? It's funny bc I don't typically go for modern aus or slutty reader but I took a chance on it, and, well, it was good and it was hot, and enough to make me want to try A Beautiful Webbing, which is not only really well-done and atmospheric but also. Hot.
And like I know reader is under the influence of the venom but the kisses at the beginning are so adorable - "giving you one short kiss after another" come on that's so cute. Glad there was a happy ending; I don't normally care about reading marriage stuff but it really worked in that story. And as usual the smut was excellent. I cannot quote this but uhh the last paragraph of this post? https://www.tumblr.com/sorcerous-caress/733264235859181568/driderminthara-dont-do-this-to-me-i-already?source=share I am not normal about it 🫠
https://www.tumblr.com/sorcerous-caress/731664242126864384/will-never-be-able-to-move-again-but-fuck-it-its?source=share You're so real for this. Jaheira is underrated. If there's one thing Pathologic is missing, it's a gilf.
🐿️ anon
There is truly no better feeling than when someone fully understands your vision in an art piece you made.
You get her, you see her like I see her. With all of her beauty and ugliness, her merciless eyes and soft heart. Because both parts will always be part of what makes Minthara herself, the harsh exterior and tender interior. They aren't in contrast nor conflict, they seamlessly work in unison to make this complex character.
Minthara feels like a love letter to every single drow character that has ever been created, the stereotypical ones especially that were brushed to the side. She embodies the controversial drow culture because it is embedded within her deeper than Lolth ever could reach that even when she forsaken the spider queen, she found herself still singing to the rhythm of her people.
I always wrote her with care, a balancing to give each of her traits a chance to shine. Push her bluntness and brutally in the reader's face before subtly illuminating her tender moments.
Moments where she chooses to allow herself to be "weak" within your presence, bestowing upon you the highest honor a drow could ever grant another soul, one that even their parents never receive.
Love is the best kept open secret in the underdark.
If you want a perfect summary to Minthara's love then look at her attitude when it comes to having children. It's very normalised in drow culture for the kids to overthrow their parents and murder them, the parents always mistrust their kids and keep precautions in place because of it.
Yet how does Minthara approach it? as an honour. A reserved right for her eldest daughter to kill her by her own hands.
Minthara doesn't cower or run away. She clearly is still down to having children despite it all. To birth your own murder while aware, to take care and nurture the weak infant who will watch you choke on your blood with cold eyes as you grow old and vulnerable.
You know these stories and fables about kings receiving bad omens or prophecies on how their next child will overthrow them early? on how fear and greed to keep their seat atop the throne for some extra years drives them into paranoia and they send the infant away to be raised in some nowhere village so they me never be a threat to them?
How most of that time that ends up being counterproductive as the child grows up and fullfills their destiny, murdering the harsh parent which abandon their own flesh and blood for a golden crown.
How Minthara never even considers the idea. Not only does she accept it as a fact of life, but she encourages it, looks forward to it.
The proudest she could ever be, that's how much she would've loved her children.
I don't think her kids would want to kill her, despite it all. Especially since she left the underdark and with reader or well tav around as a romanced option, I think the love she desperately tries to hide will be contagious.
That she will be loved out of spite, whether she likes it or not, she will be treasured and her life will remain preserved.
You see, this is magnified ten times by the fact Minthara isn't just some random drow with a harsh life. She was destined for greatness. She was a Baerne princess, in line to become a matriarch to the most infamous and powerful noble drow house there is.
She could've easily been written as a product of her environment, yet she held herself every step along the way. The way she treats us is extremely soft in normal drow standards so imagine how it would be for a drow princess whom only known respect, reverence and being feared all her life.
Even if tav is a male or an elf, she is still romanceable. She still falls in love with us, she still tries to adjust to the surface ways and reach a comparison by her own self without the need for an intervention or a talk with her.
She could've easily been so so much worse and it would've made sense, Minthara already sacrificed a great deal and changed so much. But because it was done behind closed curtains since she is far wiser and more self-willes than any average person, we take it for granted and don't truly comprehend the amount of self-discipline and work it required her to reach this point.
Drows attack others on sight, any different race. There is a prime example of it ingame when you free the drow group from their stone curses, they immediately go for your throat.
Minthara broke through generation curses and decades of propaganda, racism and sexism by her own self.
It wasn't a cheap character development where her falling in love with us suddenly made her wake up and blah blah blah. No, she didn't need us to begin with, she didn't need anyone to reach that revelation. She found the path herself out of sheer cleverness and perspective.
It takes humility to acknowledge that you've been raised wrongly all your life, that everything you stood for were lies built on bigger lies by some mad sadistic goddess who got off on watching your people tormenting.
That's why I like the fact she is a paladin, noble in essence and soul.
I wrote beautiful webbing in a single day, none stop from sunrise to the middle of the night. It was as if I was possessed from how much the sentences weaved themselves and the visions kept coming.
I changed the ending and meeting scene multiple times. The decision to make it a happy ending happened last moment, I had a much more grim twist in mind but decided this one fit better.
She does take great care of her belongings after all.

Your praise means a lot, thank you. I wish I was in a better state to show more enthusiasm or appreciation for your kind words. I genuinely didn't accept you'd actually leave a comment after that ask I answered, I thought I must have gotten over in my own head and I should apologise for snapping at someone who didn't do anything wrong.
The funeral hit me hard, I haven't slept in two days as of writing this. I'm waiting for the sleeping pills to work rn, I don't know how I can still read and write without problems.
Or maybe this is all gibberish and I'm not actually writing anything comprehensive? I'm not sure, I hope not.
Either way, I'm sorry. You deserved more grace and courtesy from me, I'll do better in the future.
I hope your day is amazing squirrel anon, I just remembered there is infact a squirrel ingame in bg3 and that made me smile.
It's also so ego boosting that you liked my Minthara pieces despite not knowing anything about her before? It's such a great compliment oh god do I even deserve it? It implies I really did her character justice, that my fanfic didn't rely on the reader's previous knowledge of her character as a crutch, that it could possibly stand on its own as a story.
I'm really happy, thank you for making my day better.
Please do take care of yourself. I may not have talked about each topic you mentioned but I reread your ask many times, and I'm thankful for every word.
