i don’t dislike isha as a concept. i think she could have been a good character and her relationship to jinx could have been something unique that took jinx’s character in a new direction.

but instead, she was never really her own person, she was used as a plot device. they didn’t do anything new with either their dynamic or the actual progression of how their story went.

oh, this person who used to want to fight against piltover has found themself in charge of a young child, and this child is now their priority above their past mission. we’ve already seen that, multiple times. a huge part of season 1 was showing how that same situation affected vander and silco in different ways. they just made jinx into vander 2.0 in a way that felt too heavy handed and too much of a 1 to 1 copy to actually be an interesting parallel.

and they didn’t bring anything new to it, like showing how the parental figure losing the child instead of the other way around would change them and their motives, because after jinx loses isha, her story is pretty much over. she puts her suicide on pause to help with the final battle, and then she dies. yeah, they’ll probably bring her out again briefly in a future show, but by then there’ll be a massive timeskip and her character will just be whatever they need it to be for the new region.

also, giving jinx someone close to her who loves her unconditionally and wants her to be what they see as her best self, who then dies in a way that she has some degree of responsibility for? that already happened too. it’s, again, not just a parallel, but an almost 1 to 1 repeat of what happened last season.

isha is a conglomeration of vander’s story with his kids, and silco’s story with his daughter. what she doesn’t get the chance to have is her own story.

I’m sorry but I will truly never get over Ekko who lost his mentor and all his friends at a young age, then spent the rest of his childhood building a beautiful and strong community that helped get shimmer addicts off the streets and give them a new life that thrived off of trust, respect, and loyalty while slowly watching the girl he loves lose herself to her psyche and become an unhinged suicidal terrorist who he is unable to save despite repeated attempts at it. And THEN gets booted into an alternate reality where he learns he could have had EVERYTHING, the beautiful and thriving community, the education, his family, and the girl he loves and he heartbreakingly leaves it all behind because he knows he doesn’t belong there and he has to go back to save his people which he DOES multiple times at great risk despite knowing what overextending his z-drive could do only to end up completely alone in the end. The most selfless character in the entire series. That’s my boy savior.

guys i should have realized that everything in arcane that seemed to just be bad writing could actually be explained by their microexpressions. can't you see that the one scene where caitlyn slightly furrows her brow at a 5 degree angle clearly indicates that the class divide between zaun and piltover has been completely resolved. didn't you see it

it’s kind of amazing how vi had absolutely no character arc this season. like i don’t know if that even counts a character at all. feels like ai tried writing her. she became a cop, cried, served cunt, got an ugly haircut, cried and then fucked caitlyn. 10/10 writing 😍😍😍 so complex and thought provoking and definitely addresses all the interesting aspects about her identity and violence in s1

i wil be honest. I think tje addition of noxus as the stereotypical big bad is horrible and a cope out of actually developing the conflict of piltover and zaun. not only that, the black rose sublot is useless and takes away screen time from characters that NEED more development. Ambessa is a great character when she is there for Mel's development and then becomes a big bad tyrannical villain. Canonically in lore Noxus dgaf about Piltover. Idk why they thought it was a good idea to make it the main villlain. The conflict should remain between Piltover and Zaun.

No fucking way are Caitvi shippers happy with this writing right? No way are lesbians happy with this representation? A straight couple that never even took off in the main timeline got a whole episode set in an alternate universe just to explore their relationship and it was cute, tender, romantic, and had the best song in the entire series. The lesbian couple gets a rushed sex scene in a dirty dungeon with some generic spicy pop song while both women's characterization are dogshit (so Cait doesn't care that Jinx escaped? Vi isn't worried about Jinx or wants to go after her?) Vi's character is completely disrespected. She is just made to accept Caitlyn fucking Maddie while Vi was suffering through an alcoholic mental breakdown and Caitlyn never looked for her or thought of her. She is made to completely forgive everything Caitlyn did while in power. She is made to brush aside her own sister, friends, family, and home to only focus on Caitlyn. All her brains scooped out and replaced only with Caitlyn. And there are Caitvi fans who are actually happy with this shit? Am I going insane??
