Ok ok here's my witchy klaine au idea for the spring 2026 fanzine. I've had this au idea for YEARSSS and it's just been rattling around in my head like a the last tictac left in the box lol
Magic is a normal part of life, everyone knows about it, but it's treated similarly to how we treat tradework (welders, electricians, plumbers, etc etc). High society doesn't bother with it, bc they can just pay someone to do magic for them. If you wanna learn magic, you go to magical trade school.
Kurt is in such a school, learning magic, working mostly in potions (skincare, hair treatments, as well as more fantastical stuff like prism hair dye that shimmers like holographic glitter that he's trying to invent). He also works in enchanting textiles. He's in his final year at trade school and so he's an apprentice at a potioneer's lab, working on perfecting his prism hair dye, and he needs ingredients.
Since he's new in the area, his boss (SJP's character, the one that hired Kurt at vogue.com in canon, can't remember her name right now) recommends Anderson Apothecary. So Kurt goes to check it out. Thing is, Kurt HAAATES going to apothecaries, they're always messy and crowded and run by some old fucker making cures for acne out of bird shit or whatever.
So Kurt finds Anderson Apothecary, it's some hole-in-the-wall establishment with an old wooden sign and creaky wooden floorboards. But it isn't a mess inside, everything is labeled and organized alphabetically, it smells like a fresh breeze through a clover field, and there's a HELLA cute guy at the counter grinding up herbs with a mortar and pestle. Aka Blaine lol
Blaine took over the family business bc Cooper took off to LA to be an actor, and Blaine loves working with plants and has always had a knack for it over the spellwork taught at trade schools. The shop has been in the family since like 1800 or something.
Anyway Blaine is happy to help Kurt find the ingredients he needs for his work (regular stuff like rosemary, pine tar, osage bark, arrowroot, etc), as well as suggest some rarer/harder to work with plants to experiment with for his prism hair dye (some fictional flower called Aurora Iris that changes color, snake root, jewelweed) and some minerals/crystals (labradorite, rainbow moonstone, quartz pieces with prismatic fracture inclusions)
Basically Kurt keeps coming back under the pretense of perfecting the recipe for the hair dye, even after he's gotten it to work and only needs to adjust the alchemy of the ingredients and the incantation when mixing them (aka stuff that he can do on his own without the help of an apothecary). Blaine notices of course but humors him bc cute
They get to know each other, start hanging out, doing fun magic stuff together (other than making magic hair dye and skincare Kurt uses magic to fix Blaine's torn jeans, and outside of his apprenticeship he's also really good at charming objects so he charms a little tin bird to sing and gives it to Blaine; Blaine keeps it on his windowsill in his apartment above the shop đ„°)
Blaine isn't as good at actual spells, but he can do a few. He's especially adept at ones that he uses at work; IDing the ingredients used in a potion, or singing to plants to weave magic into them so they produce a particular effect. One that he's been good at since childhood, however, that he is kind of embarrassed about but Kurt loves, is manifesting snow. Like really pretty sparkly soft snow. Obviously it doesn't impress much in the winter and any other time of the year the magic fades and the snow melts before it can build up much. But Kurt just loves it lol.
Blaine also makes talismans with minor enchantments; one that makes you feel slightly warmer (for winter), or cooler (for summer), one that keeps you from getting hungover (results may vary), one that boosts your confidence, etc.
Anyway. Kurt gets his hair dye perfect; it's like a top coat for your hair and makes it shimmer in rainbow colors in the light. It becomes hugely popular, Instagram influencers are desperate for it, and Kurt can't make it fast enough. His boss is thrilled, and Kurt is happy he got his idea off the ground. His boss wants to send him to some distant city where the company has a factory to start production on mass-producing the hair dye, and Kurt is torn. He would need to withdraw from the apprenticeship program he's in with his trade school to do it; he could pick it back up later, but it's never ideal to leave a program like this before finishing. Apprenticeships are hard to come by, and he was very lucky to get this one, and there's no guarantee that he'll be able to get another. Even if he did, it's highly unlikely it would be in this same city (I'm imagining Boston or for some reason, some city with a lot of old infrastructure and businesses still standing).
Obviously he doesn't wanna leave Blaine either, who he's long since fallen for, probably dating at this point. But also, he doesn't want to mass produce. He's never liked mass production of magical products, as there's ethical ambiguity due to working conditions in magic factories and some of the quality of the product will be lost in the process. Blaine tries to convince him to go through with it, as this a huge opportunity.
Eventually Kurt decides not to do it, opting to finish his apprenticeship and continue making the prism hair dye by hand. He sells it out of Blaine's shop. He and Blaine end up living together above the shop.
After graduating trade school and finishing his apprenticeship, Kurt starts his own line of hair and skincare potions, continues selling the now famous prism hair dye, as well as making some new effect hair dyes like glittery ones and color-changing ones. Blaine keeps running the shop, which is now more popular than ever due to Kurt's products, and his talismans.
They live happily ever after THE END :)
Idk if I should write the fic or draw a thing for it, I genuinely do not think my drawing skills are good enough to be in the fanzine so maybe I'll write it.
#klaine fanzine spring 2026#kurt hummel#blaine anderson#klaine#i love modern magic and urban fantasy#this is basically a coffeshop au but with an apothecary instead of a coffeeshop lol#let me know if this is a terrible idea đ

â hello, anne. â it is late in the afternoon, the sun beginning to dip in the sky, and the counter shows it, with many of her wares sold out. layla is glad that she will be closing, soon, glad that she'll be able to get ready for tomorrow and then go home. this job may be everything she could have dreamed of, only a few years ago, but that doesn't change that it is tiring, too. perhaps she'll have to ask marsaili if she can start working the counter an extra half day. if nothing else, layla would like to be able to spend a little more time with her daughter. and rest. the rest is important.
but now she smiles, leaning her elbows on the low counter. â it's good to see you. what can i get you? what do you need help with today? â
@clevererthan (anne) liked for a starter
#clevererthan#LAYLA KIM / ic.#LAYLA KIM / verse / main.#layla's main verse is modern urban fantasy but i can absolutely throw her in more of a dnd-esque fantasy world if that works better#she's a very typical npc magic baker#i just think she would love anne so much and they're both unfailingly kind and seeing the beauty of the world#hello it has been so long since we wrote together i miss it

What No one Tells You about Writing Fantasy, #2!
I did this list about 7 annoyances about fantasy, but I write in this genre for a reason! Fantasy knows no bounds, it can encompass all other genres within it. You can write a fantastical murder mystery, fantasy horror, fantasy romance, political drama, slice-of-life, comedy, whatever youâd like!
Whether itâs urban or high fantasy, supernatural or scientific, hereâs seven great benefits of writing in this genre:
1. No modern means of communication
Unless youâre writing a world with phones or phone-adjacent devices. Phones and instant communication seriously inhibits the plausibility of dramatic irony and tension when you have to keep coming up with reasons to keep your characters from calling or texting each other everything they know. Itâs exhausting, I tell you, and such a relief when phones arenât a factor.
With that said, without phones, you have complete freedom to design your own magical channels of supernatural FaceTime, as weird and zany as you want. But without instant connections? Your character who knew too much canât pass on the intel before they die. Your hero team canât call for backup in their darkest hour. Otherwise easily preventable tragedies and deadly miscommunications are now very real.
2. The Monster Allegory
Fantasy and sci-fi tend to overlap more than theyâre set apart, and in that overlap sits the monster allegory. Everything from werewolves to vampires to witches, reapers, demons, angels, goblins, trolls, wraiths, fairies, mermaids, ghosts, to Eldritch horrors and your classic Hollywood cast of mummies, creatures from the black lagoon, and Frankenstein.
Most of the time, the monsters arenât just monsters, they represent a monstrous aspect of society the author wants to challenge and caricaturize in a fun and entertaining way. Or, the monsters are the good guys and the humans are the real terrors. Or, youâve got two kinds of monsters to allegory two human sides. Sometimes they represent metaphorical demons, like vampires often representing addiction and werewolves repressed identities.
What all of this boils down to is the hyperbolic nature of science fantasy that allows you to go over-the-top with your metaphor and allegory in a way that a book grounded in reality just canât.
3. Magic Systems!
Do you love world building? Do you love filling pages upon pages with your cool and unique set of superpowers you want your characters to have? Do you dream about your fight scenes and dramatic slow-mo shots?
Then Fantasy is for you!
There are zero limits to how you want to define your magic system. You can go classic with the familiar archetypes of elemental magic, wizards, sorcerers, and witches. Or you can step off the beaten path and design a whole new funky system of power sets. Best part? Your readers will have an awesome time imagining themselves with those powers, and debating endlessly about how it works.
4. Real-World Politics, who?
Amazonâs Rings of Power was twice-doomed when they only got the rights to adapt the appendices of The Silmarillion and when they decided to inject current political problems into a timeless story written purposefully to be divorced from those politics. You *can* write about human politics, but in fantasy, you donât have to. You *can* interpret Lord of the Rings to be an allegory about the World Wars, but no matter how hard you argue, it wasnât written with that intent.
Which means: Even if your story is set in the reality-adjacent fantasy version of 1543, you are free from the following: Racism, homophobia, sexism, religious bigotry, mental health bigotry, gender norms, anti-feminism, toxic masculinity, and more. âBut thatâs how it was-â
Nope. This is fantasy. You built this world, you decided to keep in the discrimination. Or⊠You can fill your fantasy world with a rainbow of gays, POCs in power, women in power, men unafraid to be compassionate and caring, a religion that doesnât foster hate and division, the list goes on. You. Are. Free.
5. Nothing is too âunrealisticâ
Both that you will always have people whining about how X would never happen so write the book you want to read, but also because fantasy is fake. Fairies arenât real. Mermaids arenât real. There are no rules for how they must be written and thatâs how we have so much variety with so much room for interpretation by so many creators. Twilight made how much money writing about vampires that sparkle like diamonds in sunlight and crack like marble?
This is fantasy, itâs supposed to be unrealistic. Yes, your plot should make sense, but donât be afraid to get weird. Write at least some of your story dependant on those fantasy elements. Write a story that canât just be told in the real world minus the spectacle. Donât be afraid to be sincerely fantastical and weird. People love weird. People love loving weird.
6. You are in complete control
But you do still need to research, unfortunately. Unless this is urban fantasy that depends at least a little on the human world, yours is completely your own to govern like a god tweezing weeds from their garden. You get to design your own geography and weather patterns and seasons. Your own countries and kingdoms and politicians. Your epic pre-canon fantasy war and the stakes that it was fought over. Your species, races, and ethnicities.
Itâs a shame that a movie like Avatar (2009) set out to be this wholly unique take on aliens with music completely divorced from earthly bonds, new languages and a visually and culturally distinct alien species⊠and ended up a largely generic blue Pocahontas in space. It forgot that it was fantasy and didnât go weird enough. They have horses, monkeys, wolves, rhinos, and deer just re-skinned with some extra limbs and colors. Itâs pretty but itâs so, so shallow.
It could have become a cult classic like many a positively *weird* 80s off-beat fantasies, and now it just⊠exists. It makes a whole lot of money but its impact on the cultural zeitgeist is negligible. Iâm the only person I know that can name every major character in the movie, and Iâm no Avatar obsessor. They had complete creative control, and this is what they did with it. Donât be Avatar. Take your creative freedom and run.
7. Even if it has been done before, do it again
You can say this about any genre, particularly romance, but fantasy and sci-fi, by the gatekeep-y nature of their fans, can be a lot less forgiving when it comes to claims of âunoriginalityâ. No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. Fans of these genres can get⊠concerningly attached to their favorite stories (mostly because the people who like them had only their fictional heroes to protect them from very real bullies).
But Game of Thrones exists because the author likes Lord of the Rings and went âyes, but what if it was an R-rated parade of misery?â Dungeons and Dragons exists because people wanted to roleplay in an LotR-esque world. Legolas and Gimli single-handedly defined what a badass elf and dwarf looks like in high fantasy. And people still gobble up media ripping shamelessly, or even good-naturedly, from this one story.
So on my other list, I argued that the sum of your parts is still original, even if the components arenât. On this list, I implore you this: Itâs not stealing or appropriating to write another Legolas if you love Legolas. Everyone loves Legolas. How many generic buff action heroes do we have and love? How many Hallmark romances tread the same predictable path? Who gives a damn if itâs unoriginal? Just make it entertaining and have something fresh to say in the end (or donât, thatâs fine too), and people will read it.
And when people say âOh, you mean like Legolasâ, take it as a compliment, not an insult. Yes, exactly like Legolas. Hereâs my new elf because I adore this other book, now watch him go on a new adventure that I wrote for him.

Do you have any recommendations for fantasy books where the woman isn't a warrior, assassin or someone who fights physically (might fight magically tho)? Where the man isn't a growling macho. Something with a strong romance plot that's not insta love. Not modern, like it should be a fantasy fantasy, not urban fantasy (unless it's some historical fantasy). Might be a series but not more than three books.
I'm so particular but it's what I crave xD

I think the reason that Dimension 20 really scratches all those itches in my brain is that it really shows what you can do with D&D---and TTRPGs as a whole.
Fantasy High, by itself, is an incredibly compelling concept. What would D&D look like in a semi-modern setting? What would a high school that's all about teaching teens how to be adventurers look like? And the way it's done is beyond inventive, especially if you look at all the encounters in the first season---we've got a literal food fight, a high-speed road chase with tiefling greasers, a nightclub brawl with zombies, vampires, and werewolves, a skating match with a bunch of dwarven middle schoolers and a concrete golem, a high-stakes game of football (ish) with undead jocks that give off major teen slasher vibes, a fight done in an arcade where characters can get trapped in the consoles, and the final battle is done at prom. PROM! How cool is that?
And then we get to the Unsleeping City, which takes the urban fantasy elements that Fantasy High already had and elevates it. The way the D&D lore and magic is interpreted in a modern New York setting is excellent, as is the whole take on the "American Dream," magic literally coming from dreams, ideas, and the imagination. I know that I need to actually finish the UC saga, but from what I've seen and experienced, it is truly fantastic.
And the same energy carries through to the other seasons---my personal favorite outside of Fantasy High being A Court of Fey and Flowers, just because I'm a sucker for any Fey Realm content and I've been raised on Jane Austen---where the genre mashups shine through in the best way possible. I'll admit, I haven't seen A Crown of Candy, purely because I know how heartbreaking and devastating it is and I don't think I can physically handle it, but the concept of Candyland Game of Thrones is so beautifully bizarre that I totally get why people love it so much. Escape from the Bloodkeep hitting that workplace comedy vibe that we love to see in villains. Misfits & Magic being a love letter to the "magical boarding school" genre while also calling out all the weird contradictions inherent in it. A Starstruck Odyssey literally being an homage to Brennan's mom and exactly the kind of madcap and unhinged energy I need from my sci-fi. Neverafter perfectly encapsulating the true horror of fairy tales. Mentopolis hitting my noir-loving heart and personifying hyperfixation in the best way possible.
I'm not even kidding when I say that, if it weren't for Dimension 20... I probably wouldn't have even started my own campaign. I'd had snippets and ideas ever since officially getting into D&D and joining a game with some old friends (and getting back in touch with them in the process), but after I saw the Mentopolis trailer, I realized just how much variety TTRGPs had to offer. I could do a time-blending, history-meets-future campaign. I could go out-of-the-box. I could have endless amounts of options available to my friends and still tell the story that I wanted to tell. And when I sat down and watched Fantasy High---and when I got that Dropout subscription so I could consume whatever I wanted---it felt like the show was actually giving me advice. It's fantastic.
Also it helps that the episodes are usually only roughly a couple hours instead of being, like, an entire afternoon long. And that each season is 20 episodes, tops. No offense to Critical Role, but the sheer amount of content literally makes it impossible for me to get into it.
#dimension 20#dropout tv#fantasy high#the unsleeping city#a court of fey and flowers#a crown of candy#a starstruck odyssey#neverafter#mentopolis#i just love this show so much you guys

The forgotten boy - Geto Suguru | Chapter 01

Words: 3k
Summary: He made a deal with the devil, over 1,000 years ago. Just for the sake of his loved ones but the deal came with a condition. Everyone he met from now on, would forget about his existence within minutes, and will be like that for the rest of the eternity
Like that Geto Suguru has lived for the last 1000 years being forgotten but everyone he met, not being remembered by anyone and being alone.
"You remember me?"
You nodded. âOf course I do.â You smiled. âYou have been coming here for a few days now. Always at the same hour and always asking for the same coffee.â
ac: _3aem
Tags: fantasy au, modern settings and historical settings, angst, fluff, eventual smut, hurt/comfort, magical themes, use of y/n, no physical appearance except for some freckles reader has.
Notes: first chapter of this new Suguru fic. A few things I have to say about this fic is that it has more text, more inner dialogues and information. Flashbacks. Itâs also dual pov or more like external pov, we will be able to see what both main characters think. Also sorry if there are any mistakes or typos, English is not my first language. I hope everyone enjoys this story.

"In any lifetime, I swear I will find you. I swear."
Ëâ§Ë°.â¶â âč âËâ§Ë°.â¶â âč â
Suguru got out of the bus and walked across the street. He always took the same route. And for some time now he had always come across the same faces, whose names he did not know but he did remember his faces. Unlike him, those people could meet him a million times and never remember his name or his face.
But it was the price he had to pay for the sins he had committed 1,000 years ago and would continue to pay until the end of the world.
His feet stood in front of the coffee shop that had recently opened its doors. The coffee they served was the best he had tasted in the city, and today he had decided to go there again to drink that same coffee again and feel like he belonged to that reality.
He waited in line, like a mere mortal, and when a boy of only about twenty years old arrived at the counter, he was greeted with a smile. Suguru without saying another word asked him for a coffee and retired to wait for it to be served. He sat at one of the many tables that the cafeteria had until his name came over the speakers.
"Kento"
It wasn't his real name, but with the curse besides from not aging and being forgotten by everyone. It also happened that Suguru could not say his name, nor say it, nor even write it, if he tried it would disappear as if nothing had ever been written on the paper. That is why he changed his name constantly.
"Enjoyed it"
You with big eyes and freckles crossing your face smiled at him, Suguru smiled back and took the coffee from you.
He sat back down at the table he was before and looked out the window. It was April, a month that brought back distant, very distant memories of his childhood. Where the snow had already disappeared from the roads of the village where he lived and the flowers were beginning to bloom, ushering in spring and the beginning of his countless afternoons of fun with his best friend. But those were just memories now, nothing more than that. Memories that only he remembered and that those who appeared in them had long since left.
The world continued to rotate, change and evolve, while he continued to hope that one day he would once again be the boy who went to the banks of the river to hunt tadpoles.
He finished the coffee and left the tip on the table and then left that cafeteria. And he began to walk, aimlessly and without any rush, since what mattered least to him was time, because he had plenty of that.
He had returned to what had once been his home village and had now become an urban metropolis, just a few years ago. After being cursed, Suguru decided to leave his beloved home behind, nothing and no one needed him there anymore and the only thing he could bring was bad omens. And that's why he traveled the world, using different names always being forgotten on the same day. He had spent the last hundred years in the UK, but he had decided to return to Japan after so long and see how it was.
His blood ran cold when he got off that plane and began to walk the streets that once seemed familiar to him. Everything was different, everything except a hill where he used to go with...
Suguru shook his head and turned to look in the direction of the hill, which remained the same. As if nothing had changed. People who were going for a walk or run, walked by there, and with his hands in his pockets, he went up and up. He remembered the hill being much bigger, but that was probably because everything seemed so much bigger to him as a child. He sat on the bench there and simply watched the horizon as the hours began to pass.
Something that the curse brought is that he did not feel tired, hungry, or sleepy. The first time he noticed it, he stopped eating for too long, a time where no human being could continue living. It was then that he understood that at that very moment he made the deal, he had stopped being like the rest of humans.
The sun had set hours ago and those who were walking or running on the hill had long since left. He got up from the bench and began to walk with a specific direction, this time. He entered the luxurious building and clicked on the floor where he was going. When he reached it he walked down the hallway, dragging his feet until he reached the door. He entered the code he borrowed months ago (as he liked to say) from that âfriendâ of his and entered on that apartment.
He knew the apartment would be empty, he knew the owner's schedule well. He considered him a friend, if that was even possible. But Suguru didn't care, or at least that's what he told himself.
Shortly after arriving in Japan he had met a man named Nanami Kento, he was a businessman and they had met in a cafeteria, the conversations flowed normally and safely. The next day when Suguru found him there again he showed up again and had another different conversation. Perhaps under different circumstances Nanami would have also considered him his friend.
Suguru sat on the couch and closed his eyes. He knew that Nanami wouldn't be coming home for the next two weeks, so he might have a place to rest for at least two weeks. You might think that what he did was low, but he had lived for more than 1,000 years and during all that time he had had to find ways to live, like a normal person. Even if that meant lying and manipulating others, but it didn't matter because they would forget about him.
He looked up at the ceiling and felt the comfort of that apartment. It was warm there but he couldn't call it a home. When was the last time he had a place to call a home?
Probably around 450 years ago. He was living in Italy, in a remote house that was long abandoned, it was just him and the dog that welcomed him the first time. He always wondered if animals could remember him or just like anyone else they would forget about him. He didn't know but that dog would always show up in front of that abandoned house and move it's tail whenever he welcomed him.
But soon enough, the dog died and he was left alone once again. He lived in that house for another 100 years, a lot of time for many, short for him. It was then when he decided to move to America and lived there, in different places, different countries and then he moved back to Europe, to England to be exact where he witnessed the changes of the world and cruelty of the humanity.
Suguru had lived too long, he had learned different languages, known different cultures, and heard thousands and thousands of stories. But he was tired, living so much and not having anyone to share his experiences, or moments, was exhausting. And frankly, it crossed Suguru's mind more than once to end everything, he even tried it, but when that demon appeared before him the first time he tried, he warned him.
"If you end the contract we sealed, you will become a curse and for the rest of the centuries, I will make you torment the reincarnations of those you once loved."
He never tried it again.
Ëâ§Ë°.â¶â âč âËâ§Ë°.â¶â âč â
"I will give you anything, but please grant me that wish, let me save them."
"Anything eh?"
Ëâ§Ë°.â¶â âč âËâ§Ë°.â¶â âč â
Suguru opened his eyes to the sunlight that slipped through the window, announcing a new day in the world. He stretched his stiff muscles and headed to the kitchen of the apartment. He took one of the fruits that Nanami had and ate it and then went to the bathroom and took a leisurely shower. They were those small moments that made him feel completely human again.
He left the bathroom and went to the closet. He was lucky to be wearing a size similar to Nanami's. He grabbed a white shirt and a black knit vest for the top and black pants for the bottom. Walking to the couch she grabbed the long jacket and some coins from the counter. Was he an asshole for doing that? Probably, but after so much time it was easy for him.
Just like the day before and the day before, he took the same bus, greeted the driver with a smile and sat in the same seat as always. Where he contemplated the city that dawned. He got off at the same stop and took the same route to the cafeteria. He waited in line for his turn to arrive. And he began to think about his current life, monotonous, gray and rotating.
He ordered the usual thing again and sat down at the same table again, until he heard that new name that he had chosen, because his could never leave his lips.
"Kento!"
The same girl, the same smile, the same freckles. All the same.
"Here you have." You said, hanging him the coffee.
"Thank you." Suguru took his coffee and smiled back at you.
He sat back down at the same table and watched out the window for who knows how long. But what difference did it make, right? If when they became aware of his presence again they would think that he had just arrived. The cafeteria went from being crowded in the early hours of the morning to being calmer.
"Do you want more coffee?" Suguru could feel his heart beating out of his chest when he felt the voice next to him. "I have noticed your cup is empty." You with your freckles crossing your face and a smile on you shiny face, pointed at his cup. "You want more?"
Suguru looked at his, now empty cup and then back at you. "No, it's okay."
You hesitated for a moment. "But are you sure? It's in the house, so please accept it." You smiled.
Suguru handed you the cup. "Alright." He knew that once you disappeared from his sight, you would forget him and a new cup of coffee would never return.
You smiled at him and ran to the bar counter. Suguru looked outside again and mentally told himself that he would wait 5 minutes and then he would leave.
Five minutes passed and Suguru turned to look at you, who were talking to your coworker. Suguru sighed and stood up from his seat. He didn't understand why after so much time he still had a modicum of hope.
He walked to the exit and left the small cafeteria. And again the same routine as every day, walking aimlessly until his feet got tired, even a little, sitting down to observe the landscape and returning to his "friend's" "borrowed" apartment.
And like that another day went by and another one began. Same routine. Wake up, shower, eat something, take the same bus, walk, wait in the queue for his morning coffee, wait at the table.
"Here." A voice he already heard before spoke. Suguru looked up meeting the smiley face of the same girl he met yesterday, you. "I'm sorry for yesterday. I got busy with my coworker Yuji and when I was going to give you your order, you were already gone." Something inside Suguru reeled. "That's why, this one is on me."
Suguru still didn't say a word. Was his mind playing with him? It was not possible that you remembered him? It was not.
"Is everything okay?" You tilted your head looking at him with curiosity.
"You..." He swallowed, trying to moisten his dry throat. "You remember me?"
You nodded. "Of course I do." And smiled. "You have been coming here for a few days now. Always at the same hour and always asking for the same coffee."
It wasn't possible, it wasn't, you couldn't remember. No one in 1,000 years had been able to do it. How come you were capable now? No no no. Suguru's head didn't stop spinning. Too many questions had accumulated.
"You are okay?" You moved closer to him with clear concern on your face.
"I..." Suguru tried to catch his breath, he felt like he was out of breath and in any moment he was going to pass out.
"Hey!" You touched his shoulder and kneeled in front of him. "Tried to follow my breathing okay?" Suguru nodded. He followed your instructions until he could feel the air entering his lungs normally again.
"Thank you." He whispered.
"It's nothing, but you scared me." You stood back up. "Kento..."
Suguru looked at you in confusion and then remembered that was his new fake name. "Yeah, that's me... You haven't told me your name."
"Y/n." You said with a smile to him and Suguru smiled.
Your name was called by the boy that Suguru had seen behind the counter, the days he had been coming, he had pink hair and was always smiling, just like you.
"I'm coming Yuji!" You shouted and turned around to look at him once again. "My coworker is calling me. But stay here as much as you want."
"I will." He said your name once again to say goodbye.
"Bye Kento!"
Suguru waved at you and stayed in silence, was he dreaming? For the first time in 1,000 years he was feeling alive. But he was also terrified. What if this was just a coincidence and everything would vanish as soon as he left that coffee shop? No, you said you knew him from the previous days, which means the curse didn't happen when he left the other days.
His knee moved up and down, nervously, he didn't want to leave, but knowing that you remembered him it would seem strange if he stayed there for many hours. You'd think he was crazy or something.
An hour passed by and then he stood but before leaving he went searching for you. He wanted to see you, wanted to know you, he wanted to feel alive like he felt when talking to you.
He swallowed and turned to the pink-haired boy behind the bar. "Excuse me."
The boy turned and gave him a smile. "Good morning, would you like something to drink?"
Suguru for a moment felt like a bucket of cold water was being dumped on him.
"Oh Kento!" There you were, once again smiling at him and remembering him.
"Hi." He whispered only you being able to hear him.
"Y/n, you know him?" The boy wondered.
"Yeah! He comes here every single day, at the same hour and orders the same thing." You kept on looking at him. "You literally attended to him all these days!"
"Did I?" He titled his head. "I'm sorry I can't remember."
"Don't worry." Suguru smiled. "A lot of people come here, it's normal that you don't remember me."
"With that face it is hard to forget about you..." Suguru heard you whispered for yourself.
When you noticed the gaze of him looking at you, your cheeks started to grew red.
"Oh." You covered your mouth. "Did I say that out loud?" Suguru nodded, trying to hid the smile that was forming on his lips. "Sorry! That was very inappropriate! But I think it's true...You are really handsome and a face like yours is not easy to forget."
"Thank you. I think you are the first person that has ever told me that." Suguru noticed you nervously looking around, like trying to hide somewhere after what you said. "I wanted to talk with you." You looked back at him. "If you have time."
You looked around and nodded. "Yeah, there isn't a lot of people around, so it's fine." They walked to the side, so they wouldn't disturb the people. "What did you want to talk about?"
"I was wondering when do you finish your shift."
You opened her mouth, forming an O in surprise. "In..." You thought for a moment. "An hour and a half."
"Great." Suguru nodded. "Then I would like to invite you to a coffee, if that's okay with you of course."
Suguru felt nervous for the first time in ages, but he liked it. He liked it because that made him feel more human, more real.
"I..." You hesitated.
Suguru wanted to slap himself, of course you would say no and think he was a freak. "Sorry, I probably made you uncomfortable."
"No, no it's not that." You shook your head. "We can go and grab a coffee without a problem." That made Suguru smile. "But I will have to leave early, I have other things to take care of." Suguru nodded, it was okay for him.
"It's fine by me."
"Then... I will see you once my shift is over."
"Alright."
Suguru said goodbye to you and left the cafeteria, it would be too strange to stay there so he decided to walk to that hill and wait. For the first time in a long time he felt truly alive. And happy.
Notes: end of first chapter, I hope everyone enjoyed it. Sorry if there are any mistakes, also if you see a âsheâ or âherâ please let me know, bc the fic at the beginning was written in the third person so there might be a mistake there.
Also I will try to be as historic accurate as possible when talking about Getoâs life during those 1,000 years. My notes on my phone are completely mess with names and dates, not to mess anything đ

all my 2025 refs for my ocs I would consider "active"! I post a lot of original designs on here but these are the ones I continue to work on and develope actively. a "quick" and dirty guide under the cut ;)
if you have a favourite, ur legally obliged to tell me so I dont do anything drastic.
VINDICT: a half-qunari Antivan Crow and mage who specialises in ice magic. She's based on the Dragon Age universe (specifically the Veilguard era). She's not very friendly but extremely ambitious and strategic, and craves leadership and authority. EDDIE: a DND character based on my DM's home-brewed urban fantasy setting. She's a human warlock adopted into a tiefling sorcerer family, and has a bit of an inferiority complex but dreams of being a great magic user and adventurer. Her squid-like patron is named "Blitz".
ALASTAIR LOVELYN: a tiefling fighter who's lovely and friendly but really not that bright. They're very optimistic and enjoy the little things in life, which is probably cope for the massive life threatening curse they've been carrying around their entire life.
DEANGELO: an aasimir paladin who grew up in a very toxic and abusive church environment, where he was used as a figurehead and enforcer. he eventually escaped after meeting the love of his life, though. his wings are disabled, by surgery, so he can't fly.
EBONY: my current DND pc, a half elf druid from the circle of spores. she deals with a plethora of internal struggles, mostly depression and alcoholism, but has a strong loving core and does not suffer fools. She's also insanely strong atp in the campaign. Her familiar is named Theo. TETSUO: a DND character sort of designed for a more modern or even dystopian setting. He's a cleric of the forge with cybernetic enhancements, which accomodate for the amputation of his limbs but severely limit his ability to feel and understand emotions. Still, he does his best to raise an adopted son. MASK: a tiefling (potentially half tiefling) bard who is sort of based on fairytales. Mask has a history of egotism and vanity, but after mocking a trio of hags and turning them away from hospitality, was cursed with a hideous haglike form of their own (not seen here but in their individual post lol), which they can unintentionally slip in and out of. WILLOMINA: a summer eladrin fighter who, in a contract gone awry, was accidentally sealed away in a stone tomb for over a century. this has left her with social anxiety and an extremely outdated vocabulary, but she maintains her chivalric moral code and empathy for all people.
#my art#my ocs#dnd#dungeons and dragons#dnd oc#dnd character#oc: ebony#oc: deangelo#oc: vindict#oc: eddie#oc: alastair#oc: tetsuo#oc: mask#oc: willomina#character sheets#character ref#god. its done for now. yayyy

Hello! Iâve been seeing a lot about your work on social media lately and would love to read your books. What series do you recommend I start with?
Thanks âșïž
That depends on your taste/interest. I don't really write the same kind of thing from series to series, because I get bored easily and often want to try new subgenres/styles/etc. So I'll just briefly list my series and you can pick the one that appeals the most.
There's the Inheritance Trilogy, (link goes to the first book) my first published novels. A secondary world that has enslaved its own gods deals with the repercussions of that, from the POVs of three mortals. There's an overarching plot arc for all three books -- and there are some side-stories for this trilogy, too -- but each has a different narrator and takes place at different times. First person past tense, if you care about that sort of thing. (I don't, but some people seem weirdly attached to/repulsed by particular persons/tenses, so I'm including that info here.)
Then there's the Dreamblood Duology, which were actually written before the Inheritance books but I couldn't get them published at first because publishing in the 2000s was hella racist, basically. (I know, it hasn't changed much... but that little bit of change was enough for me to break in.) These books are as close to traditional fantasy as I'm probably ever going to get, except that they take place in faux ancient Egypt instead of faux medieval Europe. The story follows priests of the dream goddess as they're forced to deal with a conspiracy that threatens to inflict horrors on their society. Third person past tense for both books.
Next up is the Broken Earth trilogy. That's my experimental one, with first, second, and third-person POVs, present tense, a completely non-Earth world, and some heavy themes. All three books form a single story spanning, oh, forty thousand years or so, but mostly they're centered on one incredibly angry middle-aged mother who is on a roaring rampage of revenge/revolution. Features earthbenders, anti-magic groomers, magic statue people, and the apocalypse (again). Lots of "dark" themes and horror moments (harm to children, systemic bigotry, people-eating bugs, more).
My most recent books are the Great Cities duology. Urban fantasy set in modern-day New York, third person multiple POV ensemble cast. Turns out cities come to life once they hit a certain point, and then they claim a human avatar to represent and protect them. New York turns out to have six. It's also got some very unwanted tourists in the form of Lovecraftian entities that are trying to destroy it, along with reality as we know it. I meant for these to be lighthearted and silly and I think they kind of are, but there are still some notable political elements in them. (I mean, it's set in modern-day New York, and I started them the year Trump got elected, so...) It's lighthearted for me, anyway.
So, pick your poison!

Touchstarved LIs and Fanfiction AUs They Should Be In
Haven't been able to stop thinking about the people who said Ais is "always the tattoo artist in tattoo shop/flower shop AU". I don't even like tattoo shop/flower shop like that but it was such a correct thing to say and I have to acknowledge that. So here's that plus AUs I've seen that I think the LIs should be in.
Ais
Flower shop/tattoo shop, as mentioned. This one is TOO good. Come ON. Ais as the hot-ass owner of the local tattoo shop? Him listening to your idea for a tattoo and then smoothly and easily inking it into your skin and telling you you're good when you don't cry? I don't even need to explain this one. It makes sense in like every way.
NASCAR/Formula One AU. The idea of him getting out of that car sweaty as hell in the full racing suit after crushing a track record? Like, taking off the helmet and shaking his hair out and looking like he couldn't give less of a shit about winning first place? Yeah. I am not immune to vroom vroom
Mermaid AU but he's a bull shark or an octopus, not a fish. IDK if I want his claspers or his tentacles more, but either way he should be lurking in the briny deep and protecting me from the real ocean monsters and threatening to eat me even though he probably doesn't mean it, probably.
Vere
Magic/Witches AU. - C'monnnn, he's already so witchy! He's got the sleeves and everything. And yes I know TS already has magic in it, but you know what I mean. He, like, lives in the spooky forest and the people of the village are deathly afraid of him, but you need his magical help, so against the wishes of family and friends you seek him out. And he forces you through a series of dangerous illusions as a trial and, when you successfully pass them, finally agrees to help you for a price...
Royalty AU as either the capricious king of a powerful nation or that king's advisor, formal or informal (smart concubine). I've never seen Game of Thrones but that kind of castle politics, shadowy backstabbing shit seems right up his alley.
Modern AU as an artist: I already talked about this with Vere as an artist and game dev, but I think it'd be so funny if Vere was just sitting in a coffee shop (local, Starbucks is below him) trying to finish his commissions in peace because his roommate(s) are annoying and/or distracting. Honestly, Vere would also rock as a modern AU witch, like urban fantasy type.
Leander
Barista/Bartender AU. He's so extroverted and congenial I have to put him in a drink service AU. He definitely has a "time to mix drinks and save lives" type of work ethic behind the counter. He remembers regular customers and their drink orders, he is LIBERAL with discounts, and he leaves little notes to the people he thinks are cute.
Serial killer AU. I am so basic and even though I have no desire to watch or listen to true crime now, I was raised on the Investigation Discovery Channel and I've never lost that. Look at his fucking face. He's asking for it to be covered in blood. Even better if this is combined with the above AU and he's a sweet server by day and a ruthless murderer by night but he keeps the same wide, pleasant, and genuine smile on because both things are things he loves to do. Even BETTER if he has an obsession with one of his regulars and starts killing people around them in an attempt to get closer with them.
Theatre AU. Siiiighs. Yeah, I'm a theatre kid. And I just know this guy would be one of those actors who wants to be a mentor/older brother figure for any new troupe-members. He's walking you through all the vocal warmups. He's offering to help you run lines. He's driving you home after rehearsals. He is a triple threat, but he doesn't prefer musicals because he doesn't like singing in front of an audience (even though he's an amazing singer). And I just know props absolutely hates him because he keeps touching shit that isn't his.
Kuras
Hospital AU and Angels/Demons AU is too easy. Instead, I'm giving him the flower shop owner in flower shop/tattoo shop AU. Anyone here like KurAis? Anyways, I think it would be sweet to have him be the super-tall, kind but a little awkward and very knowledgeable owner of a flower shop. He probably enjoys crafting bouquets that have meaning in flower language. And yes, he knows about the nice meanings and the rude meanings, so you can get a "fuck you" bouquet from Kuras.
Detroit Become Human AU as an android. I barely remember D:BH but it was one of the first things that occurred to me when thinking about AUs for Kuras. Maybe because he'd be the kind of android who was like, "Don't worry, I'm not a real person, it's okay if I get shot repeatedly," and wouldn't understand why someone would be concerned about him anyways.
Elementary school teacher/single parent AU but I don't know if I want him to be the teacher or the parent. Do I want him to look after a group of children, making efforts to understand their silly little words and communicate with them so they learn and feel cared for? Or do I want him to be the struggling single parent who is so happy to see their child finally getting the attention they deserve outside the house? IDK, but I'd be happy either way.
Mhin
Superhero AU. They're kinda already halfway to superhero gear with the hood and the cape and the tight pants, but I think it be cool for them to dart from rooftop to rooftop, saving civilians and fighting crime. IDK if it'd be cooler if they were half-hero half-villain (controlled by their bird-monster side and wreaking havoc) or if it'd just be nice to have a crow hero motif. Anyway they save me and I'm a reporter who uses my reporter contacts to try and track them down not knowing they're actually my upstairs neighbor who I bring shepherd's pie and strawberry cupcakes to sometimes.
The other tattoo artist in tattoo shop/flower shop. You know how there's always some other character working in one or both of the shops? Ayeah that's Mhin. Number one, I think it'd be hot if they had tattoos. But even if they don't they're still hot when they give the tattoo because focus and skill are attractive. They're talented enough that Ais keeps them around even though they hate him. They never talk to him even though he's their boss. Over the course of the fic Mhin and Ais get closer b/c Kuras is friends with both of them and he wants them to like each other.
Angel/Demon AU as an angel because I want them to be corrupted :) I want them to be forced to submit to their own worst impulses :) and eventually realize that being evil makes them feel good and more importantly liberated and in control :) also maybe they can get wrecked by a demon please :)
Aaaand the DLC cast gets one as a treat!
Sen
Pacific Rim AU but PLEASE don't ask me why. I don't even REMEMBER Pacific Rim. But the clarity with which I could imagine Sen in a Pacific Rim AU is startling. She's gruff and she doesn't want to partner up with you, a rookie, but somehow you have perfect chemistry in the mech she doesn't want to acknowledge. She's too reckless out of disregard for her life, and you reel her in; you're inexperienced, and she fixes your mistakes. Then one day she starts to notice that she's guarding her own life more fiercely than ever before...because of you.
If that's not what Pacific Rim is about shhhh don't correct me /j
Elyon
Easy answer is pornstar/industry AU or camming AU but I'll never take the easy way out. And I know we don't know shit about the guy but I think reincarnation AU would kinda hit with him. His promo talks about wanting things money can't buy? Like possibly the ability to save his soulmate from dying and forgetting him over and over while he retains the memories of every life they've both shared and lived separately, as friends, lovers, enemies, and strangers? That would go hard imo.
If you read all of that, thanks! I hope you enjoyed~

I had an idea for a g/t story but i'm probably not going to take the time to write it out any time soon. In the meantime, enjoy this list of concepts i have rattling around in my brain
Takes place in a world where humans, tinies, and giants all exist and are all familiar with one another
It's technically an urban fantasy, with things like modern technology and societies existing alongside magic and medieval cosmology (don't worry too much about what that entails, it never really comes into play besides brief references)
There are more humans than there are giants, and more tinies than there are humans
Since everything in this world is "human sized," humans are the functional majority
Mixed societies exist, but are in their early stages, so non-integrated communities are still just as common
Growing/shrinking spells exist, but are only permanent on non-living things (organic materials that are no longer "alive" still work, though)
Finally, the actual focus of the story: a human streamer/youtuber (from a non-integrated community) making content focused around spending a day as a giant/tiny
Video titles include "I SPENT A DAY LIVING AS A GIANT (NOT CLICKBAIT!!!!!!)" and "24-HOUR BORROWER CHALLENGE?????"
In the latter scenario, there is an actual borrower living in their apartment, who has to try and hide from the human while the human is going around trying (and usually failing) to do borrower things
(Borrowers are a known phenomenon in this world, but humans and borrowers rarely encounter each other
Borrowers are often seen as "backwards" and "savage" by humans and the "more evolved" tinies who live in integrated societies)
The human streamer inevitably finds out about the borrower when they explore the walls of their apartment and find the borrower's home in there
The borrower is worried that the human will react badly when they find out about them, and is especially scared about what they'll do when they go back to their normal size
But the human also has a secret: they aren't a normal human under a temporary shrinking spell, they are a size-shifter
(size-shifters also exist but are extremely rare, and their abilities are poorly understood, leading them to be viewed as dangerous and out of control
it is possible for size-shifters to control their abilities, but it takes a lot of time and practice)
Since the size-shifter is used to be A. small and B. misunderstood, they allow the borrower to stick around as their roommate
and then they fall in love
Also since the streamer had a lot of uncontrolled shifts before they learned to control their abilities, they're mostly playing up their reactions to being giant/tiny for the "first time" for the camera
That's all for now. I've got more ideas for this story, so let me know if you want a part 2. And maybe I'll find the time/motivation to write this story out for real at some point. I want to use the clickbait-y video titles as the titles for two different stories, so look out for those sometime in the future.

How about this?
Urban fantasy modern AU Grimmorning fic. Everyone is still their species, and everyone still has magic, they just also got phones and cars and social media.
Gricko is a monstrosity zoologist. He goes into this almost untouched mountain, that Frost's monastery is on, because they say there's some rare species of monstrosity there. He steps into a trap set by Frost, who finds him dangling in it (similar to their canon first meeting), and it's slow burn falling in love shenanigans from then on.
Any takers? Because I'm already writing it and if there's people who wanna read it I might publish it~

Love your version of snow white so far, 2 notes
1. When reading I imagine your troll narrator sounding like david tenant (to me specifically as scrooge mcduck)
2. The line about immortals being very weird about change- made me imagine an urban fantasy world with magic creatures living alongside humans jn the modern day. You have a few elves and high fae moaning about âthe dying magic of the ruined old kingdomâ, but those are said to just need therapy. Thereâs a support group.
All the other creatures adapt to the modern world surprisingly well. Trolls who own shops, goblin bus drivers, nature based fae like fairies and gnomes tend to parks and gardens.
Some fae have adaptedâŠ..perhaps a little too well.
There are apartment buildings filled with gremlins who spend all day playing video games, and only send a few of their fellows out every few days to stock up on snacks and soda.
You'll find out his name in the next chapter :)
I did not expect David Tennant! I think in my head he's more unconsciously influenced by Chilchuck from Dungeon Meshi. He's a Union Man, haha.
Those are all fun ideas! I don't really see myself writing Urban Fantasy though. I mean if I did it would very much be in the Spiderwick Chronicles/Guillermo Del Toro's Hellboy/Whimsigoth vein of things.
