does anyone want to join me on the aventurine/argenti train. it's got all the perks of being as funny as any other argenti ship - especially given the random absurdity of their first meeting. what the hell was argenti doing in the depths of the nihility? who even knows anymore man. but like also i think it has the potential to be really sweet?

aventurine hasn't let anyone In since his sister died. he's long since forgotten how to Trust, and Love, and how to BE Loved. and this, combined with enormous amounts of survivor's guilt and trauma and being treated as an object, has really done a number on his self-esteem. he doesn't act like it (because he's learned that it's dangerous to be vulnerable; it's the one gamble he's not willing to take), but 2.1 gave us that glimpse into his inner dialogue and it is Bad in there

between his conversation with acheron, the note veritas left for him, and finding a sense of closure in the apparition of his younger self, he's on track to becoming better. we can see it in the way he pretty much immediately reaches out to the trailblazer to get some things off his chest once he gets his phone working again. and the way he's accepting what is basically a form of therapy from the doctors of chaos. but his self-hatred has been building up for years, and it's going to take a long time to unpack and unlearn all of that

so like, in comes argenti, right? he's a loud show-off, but he is SO earnest. he sees the beauty in everything and everyone. he's kind, and gentle, and so full of love. he also comes off as a bit... lonely to me? he's spent so much of his life chasing after idrila's shadow, and only catching a glimpse of them in his many near-death experiences (and isn't that something to think about...........). he's not like, secretly miserable or faking or anything - i think his exuberance is 1000% genuine. but humans are social creatures; everyone wants and requires at least some form of closeness and intimacy. to have a love to pursue in This realm... someone he can see and hold without needing to have one foot in an early grave . i think that would be good for him. that's all

anyway, it's clear that argenti was pretty enchanted by aventurine

like yeah that's kind of just how he talks normally but !?@,%&#& that's a lot of awfully romantic things to say about one specific person out of the several you apparently rescued (??????? god i love this guy he makes no sense. literally why are you even here bud). it seems that aventurine's more subdued state left an impression on him too, and well wouldn't it be pretty in character for him to start popping in randomly... as he does, because he can apparently just go wherever the fuck he wants. to check on this sad yet oh so beautiful peacock.. to try to bring a true smile to his face... to show him how kind and beautiful the universe can be......

i think aventurine might have a hard time laughing off offers of comfort and company and the beginnings of a courtship if it comes from someone like argenti. this man couldn't be disingenuous if he tried. he doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve as much as he rips it out of his chest to show you. it'll be a learning curve regardless - aventurine is too used to needing to constantly prove his worth to keep anyone around and to keep them from hurting him

but do you see it. do you see the vision. do you see how Sweet this could be. aventurine is about to receive more roses than he'll know what to do with

   Clark knew Batman wasn’t human, even before that disaster of a mission where he had let it slip to the others. 

   He’d known for a long time, from one of their early meetups, when Batman had first referred to him as Clark Kent instead of Kal-El, and he had panicked. He hadn’t ever lied to his teammates when he said that the cloak prevented him from seeing his body, but his ears still worked. 

   He’d tried to listen to a heartbeat, to see if his at the time temporary ally was lying when he stated he wasn’t going to tell anyone and… Nothing. There was no heartbeat, no breathing, nothing even remotely human, and if he didn’t know any better, nothing even remotely alive about the silence. 

   He couldn’t help but to pay attention more, to seek out the strange almost silence-feeling that accompanied the Gotham vigilante each time he felt it. It was… almost comforting, like the swaying of branches and the rustling of cloth over stone. Familiar, compared to the hustle and bustle surrounding him in the city. 

   The first thing he had noticed, physically that is, was Batman’s ears. Previously he’d thought the man unemotional, what with the rough voice, expressionless white eyes, cloak-covered body and the gas mask covering a good chunk of his face. 

   Yet the longer he watched, even idly, the more he noticed that while the man’s face or body didn’t show much, his ears did. 

   While Batman could stay silent and still for hours, the long ears twitched and swiveled, catching on the hood that he’d always wear around them. They’d pin back sometimes, a near silent sound he couldn’t quite place accompanying the movement, while other times they’d twist a near full three-sixty, as though searching for whatever sound it had caught. 

   Sometimes, when he’d startled the other vigilante, there’d be rattling noise, like wood and metal clacking together before it was cut off. It was a strange sound, one he’d not heard anywhere else, except with his… friend. 

   Were they friends? He’d like to think so. 

   The next time he was reminded that his friend wasn’t human was when he saw him get injured. It hadn’t been a bad injury, even if the Gothamite’s head had hit the wall with a very loud cracking noise, but he’d still smelled what he’d eventually come to recognize as blood. There was an almost pickle-like scent to it though that wasn’t quite it either. 

   Honestly the closest he could think of describing it was some sort of formaldehyde. And once he focused, he could pick out other things beneath it. Maybe not flesh and blood in the traditional sense, but still. 

   There was always that scent of cloth and wood, but he could smell the black liquid, paint, a metallic thing underneath like iron and steel. No heartbeat, no breath, but life all the same. It was honestly beautiful in a way, like a part of the city the other vigilante called home had come to life. 

   And it wasn’t like Batman minded whenever his own human mask slipped. Clark may have been raised by his Ma and Pa, whom he loved, but it didn’t make his body any more human in nature. There were just some things that he couldn’t change, and it took effort to move like one all day as a civilian when his body wasn’t designed to do so.

   So he stayed quiet for the most part when their group of three grew, and people started to speculate. He diverted the conversations whenever it turned to him, lightly admonishing over the various rumors. 

   It didn’t matter if Batman wasn’t human, he was still his friend, their ally and teammate. Was he curious? Oh of course, he’d gone into journalism for a reason after all, but it was still his friend. If he wanted to tell, he’d tell, and Clark wouldn’t break his trust.

bond sickness with chika or umemiya... everyone expects it with chika given the way he is and acts, they warned you before you even got with him in the first place. but if you're with umemiya and get bond sickness? people think that can't possibly be what you have since he just seems like the perfect mate. it only happens because he's so busy with makochi, even missing some of your heats when he has other things to do that might take daysss. when chika realizes you're sick, he just gets endo to deal with your heats. makes it easier a lot of the time since chikas out often and endos willing to do anything for him. but when umemiya notices, he's absolutely distraught, and disgusted with himself partly, he can't believe he's the reason you're sick. he was so focused on making the town better that he didn't have to time make you feel better. there are also some other things wandering in my head but those are more smutty...

With Chika it's like sure you knew it would probably be like this but it doesn't make it hurt any less. No matter how many used shirts or pants of Chika's they throw in your nest for the scent, your alpha is still not there right? Yeah you've got Endo and he certainly scratches the itch enough to get you through heats, but I think you're operating on 'just enough' most of the time. I guess it also depends on what you consider Endo in this situation, but Chika probably has firm rules about what Endo can and can't do regardless of what he is.

And Umemiya? Oh boy it's hard being with the town hero sometimes, because it's like you can't complain. He's nearly perfect, at least to everyone else. I could see it almost ending up as a shame thing, where everyone thinks there's no way that's what it is, and if you were to say something when all Ume's trying to do is help the town, isn't that just selfishness on your part? To the point where you'd hide it until a breaking point, be it emotional or physical idk depends on how sad you want it really. In the end it's his fault, and he'd really take it to heart. There'd be a lot of talk over priorities and how he can make the relationship work so you don't suffer because of him again.

I have recently rewatched "Whisper of the heart" - and it's hard to put into words how much I adore this movie.

Yeah-yeah, a Ghibli movie is great - is there a more obvious platitude to say? But it IS. And in a way that almost requires to do something about it. Because it is a story about love, yes, but love towards art (and not some particular art, but creation in its most general sense). And from this more abstract love a romantic one is born - and dare I say, the purest, the most precious kid of love, born from respect and admiration.

Yeah-yeah, there are people who believe in passion, who call desire that overpowers sense the only true love. Unconditional. And I guess there is truth to that - at y to he end of the day there must be a reason for humanity to have been singing the songs for Eros for as long as we can look back.

But for me this madness of feeling just... doesn't exist. And at some points in my life I considered myself cold, emotionally frigid, emotionless. However, watching this film I see that this more down-to-earth, more based in reason feeling is in no way lesser. That it can be just as if not even more profound and deeply rooted. Its romanticized! And it deserves it!

One more point. Falling in love is often (at least in literature) makes people feel undeserving of reciprocated love. (important note here: this can often be a metaphorical or just plainly textual inner homophobia, and this is a very interesting and relatable for me personally topic, but that's also not what I'm talking about here - rather of a pretty universal feeling of inadequacy in face of someone you idolize). And the heroine of "Whisper..." even comes through this very feeling. However usually in such stories this fear is defeated by the feeling turning out to be mutual, while in “Whjsper..” it only occurs after the kids start their cute innocent dating. And I find the way our heroine overcomes her insecurity utterly fascinating: she turns not to the one she loves, but to herself. Yes, the boy may be a catalyst for her actions, but she has been a creator long before their meeting, her love feeds into her need to be and to make, not vice versa. It’s the “you can only love others once you learn to love yourself” in a nutshell.

And I think it's beautiful.
