On April 18th, 2024, the official Instagram account of The Walking Dead shared the post shown within my edit in the left pane of the first of the photos shown ☝🏼here☝🏼. Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) was on a relatively short list of deceased characters from the series with this query—if we (the viewers) could bring back any character, which one would it be??? There goes that often annoying TWD account… trolling yet again in regards to Beth. *SIGH* 🙄😑🤨🤔

But I was so heartened when I looked through the comments and saw the huge volume of fans of the series—and not just Beth/Emily stans or Beth x Daryl shippers—stating that it is indeed Beth Greene whom they would want to see come back… ALIVE. This coming November will mark TEN YEARS since Beth was tragically shot in that heartbreaking episode of “Coda.” And there are still SO MANY Walking Dead fans who would have been thrilled to see her return during the run of the series. THAT is a true testament to the impact of Beth as a character and how she has enduringly resonated with so many people… with her sensitivity, her empathy, her beauty inside and out, her strength, and her spirit. The faint Team Delusional fire within me sparks a fantasy of her showing up in the second season of Daryl Dixon. Hey… stranger things have happened, right? Just the fact that Daryl floated all the way across the Atlantic to France(!?!) in the first place certainly demands a substantial suspension of disbelief on the part of the viewers. 😐

Anyway, feeling inspired by the sight of the voluminous outpouring of love and devotion for Beth, I combed through the comment thread on the post and took screenshots of any comments of Beth positivity that I could find. I then took all of those comments and poured them into a total of 17(!!!) separate Instastories (shown here in the above photos) that I shared on my Instagram—doeroseq. I tagged Emily Kinney on each story. Because I wanted her to see just how much she and Beth are both beloved and still missed by TWD’s fandom… all these years later. 👱🏻‍♀️💚🐞

And I later saw the confirmation in my Instagram messaging that she saw at least one of them. So that made me feel really good. 🥰

When I saw @bethiscomingsoon’s recent tumblr posts about their similar observations of the Beth/Emily adoration within the post’s comments, I decided to share my Instastories here too. 😁

We Beth/Emily and Bethyl fans need to stick together. 💞

Thank you for offering your askbox. I've been thinking that Izzy being just a side character whose story wasn't main plot thread makes even better proof that not everything was well planned? If I was a writer and this would be easily the most discussed topic about the finale, I'd reflect on storytelling decisions I made. There's a good reason why Izzy's fate overshadows everything despite that he wasn't the point of the show.

TLDR: Vague characterization from historical records means Jenkins is free to bend history without a lot of guilt. During early days of casting and during scene changes Jenkins got inspired by Con's audition tape. Con was told to play this shit as a Jesus/Judas relationship. An amazing performance in S1 keeps the character relevant in fandom spaces in the hiatus, and in Jenkin's mind for S2. The S1 season finale accidentally reveals a really interesting dynamic in Ed/Izzy's relationship. [Speculation from this point on] Jenkins feels like he needs to explore, with little plans to fully explore it. Fleshing out both Ed/Izzy abuse and love.

Jenkins realizes 'Oh shit, Izzy wasn't supposed to be this' midway through S2. But he still follows his original plan in killing him off, because he's not needed for the story in his outline, leading to him accidentally killing off a character as they're growing and healing. Leading to what some consider a move SO off-brand for the show, they are leaving the fandom.

[*Tin Foil Hat On*] I expect the original cut of S2 to include more scenes of the crew. I bet for every other Izzy scene, we got a crew scene. So when 'extra' not plot-relevant scenes had to get cut, they kept the Izzy scenes due to Izzy's stable arc, the fact that he'd die at the end either way and Con's amazing performance.

EXPLINATION AND DEPTH BELOW! It's a long one. A lot of this post will be speculation, interviews from Jenkins, and highly dependent on if you were in fandom between seasons 1 and 2. If you need me to hunt for sources, I can do that for you.

I'll separate everything into a chronological timeline as much as possible.

Before we touch on why Jenkins wrote Izzy to stick out in the story, we need to assume how he outlined this entire show.

Pre Con O'Neill:

I am of the personal belief that Jenkins likely wrote out an imagined arc for Ed and Stede. Including a lot of cool set pieces, fights, etc. for the three seasons he wanted vaguely based on the real lives of Stede Bonnet and Edward Teach(watch a YouTube vid documenting their history, it's a wild ride) turning it into something explicitly romantic. This is easy enough to do, as most of what we know about them was written YEARS after their deaths.

Next was filling in the cast. This is where we get our crew, mostly characters Jenkins made up, as very little is known of the men either sailed with.

Izzy Hands being a pirate under the age of 18 whose notable actions with Blackbeard include- Captaining his own vessel, running a ship aground, being Blackbeard's first mate, and getting shot by Blackbeard maybe on accident.

[THEORY] So. If you're any writer you see that and think 'cool a side character we know almost nothing about'. You slot him in as being Edward's one thing keeping him to the pirate lifestyle. Not necessarily romantic, but a serious Boss/underling relationship. This is a bit of how Izzy was written in S1 UNTIL-

Con O'Neill is cast as Izzy.

In interview, Jenkins has admitted that Con's audition tapes influenced how he wrote Izzy. As a writer, this shouldn't necessarily be ringing red flags. But he has gone on record as admitting to changing the script before shooting to suit Con. IN SEASON 1. My guess is Izzy at the end of episode 10 was meant to be more of a side character. Another Frenchie, or Wee John, who serves their purpose and then gets pushed to the side by the plot.

But at some point, Jenkins wrote how important the dynamic was between Ed and Izzy. Describing Izzy/Ed to Con before filming S1 of a 'Jesus and Judas' relationship like in Jesus Christ Superstar.

If you tell a (then closeted) queer actor who has been playing queer roles since the 1990s that his leather daddy character was having a Jesus&Judas JSC dynamic in a TV show that respects and celebrates queerness? 🤩 MY GOD.

[Speculation] That's how we get an Izzy Hands who is watching the man in front of him slip away, trying to dig his heels in. Hell, if I were Jenkins, I'd be adding a few more lines for Izzy to be pissed just to see Con have fun in the role. Let him be mad. Let him be in the background of scenes just glaring. Let us see a man slowly lose something he's built up his whole life.

[As mentioned from Comic Con- From Con O'Neill] This was important for me to bring up as Jenkins could have said 'henchman' but he didn't. Hell, when Taika and Con did hair and makeup they'd listen to the JCS cast album. It was a choice on both their parts.

[ovservation from here on out] Con plays it up, and a lot of queer fans saw this and grabbed hold of a man so desperate to keep the man he loved close that he sacrifices almost everything for it (Izzy also signs the Act of Grace to get Ed out of there).

Izzy, in a show full of openly queer people, is still on the fringe of society. SO MANY queers saw this and said 'OMG me'. ME INCLUDED. With a super supportive actor who genuinely is respectful of the fandom? Of art, and fic and meta? The Izzy 'Canyon' became so loyal because Con is a Queer Elder we didn't know we all needed in our lives!

Jenkins accidentally wrote into what could be an amazing story of a queer character living in a homophobic society where he learns to open himself up. All without ever writing a 'coming out' scene for Izzy. Jenkins knows this. Hell, since S1 Izzy fans have been telling him how cool that type of arc would be.

Now here comes the issue of where to take a side character, when you have loose plans for them.

S1 IS TIGHTLY WRITTEN ONTO ITSELF... S2?

Something we might forget now is HOW tightly written Izzy's falling out with Ed is tied into Stede and Ed falling in love. Beat per beat, Izzy is shoved away as Stede takes his place. That's really fucking smart. So smart, it was planned in the writer's room. The fact that some took it as romantic, that Ed could ever really love him back? Well...this is where Jenkins had a decision to make.

So he dips his toe. Let's make Ed even more violent than at the end of S1ep10. Let's include the bit where Blackbeard shoots Izzy Hands. Let's have Izzy confess his love for Ed and have it not be enough for Ed to change his mind. Let's show Izzy rising like a phoenix reborn after a failed suicide attempt where Izzy chooses to mutiny on Ed to protect the crew. Let's see Izzy growing. Because Jenkins loves Con's performance. Everyone in the cast enjoys him as a person. Let's give Izzy one last hurrah.

Jenkins knows this character meant a lot to Con. It's obvious in the way Jenkins recently confessed he told Con about Izzy's death midway through shooting. Sadly we likely will never be told when Con was told. But imagining Con filming the AMAZING character change of S2eps 1-2, then AFTER being told Izzy would die anyway? Oh. I wouldn't be alright. Not after all his fans had spent the last year telling him how much seeing a character like Izzy 'being accepted because they are worthy of love'.

This is the 1 thing that fucks me up. Not telling Con until midway through shooting, Versus his belief that writing Izzy's death was a fitting way to end his story. BOTH CAN'T BE TRUE. Right? If Jenkins felt the need to take con aside and go grab a meal to announce Izzy was dying but then market the ending as a 'Good Idea'. Then...What? If Con felt it fit the character, then he would have likely guessed Izzy would die. But that wasn't the vibe in the fandom at the time. It feels like a decision Jenkins made this season.

Because yes, some general audiences predicted that Izzy would die. But when your core fanbase for a character don't expect it, you didn't plan the death correctly. Fuck, I thought Izzy was trying to RECOVER this whole season. Not that Izzy was hiding how hard he was struggling. That's not a good sign when I've ALWAYS called Izzy as some brand of suicidal/depressed.

[Quote from Jenkins Entertainment Article: Oct 26 2023] 'What's the best journey we can give him(Izzy)? And what's the most interesting thing we can do with Con, who can do just about anything?'

That is not the quote of an author who has planned everything out. That's a writer who knows points A and E and is fighting to find everything in between.

The Fly in My Ointment

There's a point most writers know when a character or story slips out from under you. You didn't mean for this to happen. Hell, I write Scene by Scene outlines. My stories change. When Izzy Hands' growth arc became the most interesting part of S2, Jenkins had a choice.

How far was he willing to bend his idea to keep a character that wasn't 'essential'? Not that fucking far apparently. Because for some reason, Jenkin's labeled Izzy in his mind as 'Blackbeard' and tied Ed and Izzy's fates together. Ignoring how this season Izzy died to separate his old life with Ed from his new life with this crew.

Your question poses it perfectly- If I was a writer and this would be easily the most discussed topic about the finale, I'd reflect on storytelling decisions I made. There's a good reason why Izzy's fate overshadows everything despite that he wasn't the point of the show.

That's a trick they teach you in some writing podcasts. That in the end, you are telling one story. You can have twenty side characters and a romance arc, but in the end, you are telling one story. Each side character is going to show what happens when you fail or succeed at the central thesis.

What do we have in S1? What does Frenchie sing to set up where our story STARTS-

"A pirate’s life, [it’s] short but nice,” -“we won’t live long,” AND “to death we go, a certain death we go.”

Our characters expect a short simple life of what most pirates EXPECT. In my mind, this story has ALWAYS been about survival. From the extravagance of Stede's ship, and a crew ready to throw him overboard, to the barebones Shark eats Shark type of survival described in Ed's own fleet. OFMD is about living in a world that doesn't want you there. About surviving and thriving. About these two men from different worlds coming together and forging a life of kindness for them and for their family.

Saying fuck you, I'm here, I'm still alive, and I'm going to THRIVE. I deserve kindness, happiness, love, and a fully lived life. I deserve to spend my short time on this Earth happy.

IN S2? The ONLY character that matches this thesis is Izzy. After scenes of Izzy struggling. Of finding himself. Of crawling up from his own personal hell, Izzy dies. He dies from a random bullet wound in the same spots that didn't kill Stede or Ed in the previous season. Breaking the one established rule for wounds in this universe that the left side is the safe side so that Izzy can die.

Even if Izzy spent this entire season wanting to die, he tried to live. For a few days after a breakup of over 20+ years of casual intimacy. Of a bond where Izzy was the murderer, the brawn. The dangerous right hand. Where Izzy dying meant not just his death, but likely that of Ed. Given the man's constant depressive moods, crews that didn't like him, and reoccurring suicidal tendencies. Ed didn't need Izzy Hands anymore. Ed had Stede now. He was ready to finally leave Izzy for good. What will Izzy Hands do now?

He gave up. He tried to move on. He listened after being told he was too rough, too loud, too mean. He tried. He tried to survive this new way of life surrounded by people who supported him. But he was tired. After so many years of putting up a mask, tearing it down was too much work. So he wanted to die. In the end. Izzy died in the arms of Edward surrounded by his family.

Buried on a plot of land Jenkins has already told us Stede and Ed will leave when things get boring. Left behind like the corpse of a pet the family has forgotten. Buried without his ring and cravat, items Izzy is only seen without when he's naked. Without the prosthetic gifted to him by a family that cared about him.

Izzy wasn't mourned for more than five seconds, before Stede and Ed were making jokes on his fresh grave, and then the episode moves on to a wedding.

RIP Izzy Hands- a man who loved more than he was ever loved in return.

Was this the right message? FUCK No. But for those of us who believed that theme of queer survival and community- We saw framing Izzy's death like this as a fucking betrayl.

Izzy Hands isn't buried with his most prized possessions- they're left out to be stolen or rot in the front yard. With only one man crying over his death and a silent funeral. He leaves this world without more than a 'he was intense'. Which...isn't great coming from the man Izzy loved for most of his life.

The reason why we're mad about Izzy isn't that it's Izzy. It's that when we boarded this flight we were given a set of rules to follow. It's a comedy about men falling in love on a boat that sometimes gets serious. That's it. To watch a character start to grow only to die for NO PLOT SPECIFIC REASON. Is insulting. If your death has no tie to the narrative (sacrifice or it comes with a revelation) it's a death just set up for shock. Izzy and Ed could have had that deathbed confession talk at the start of episode 7.

A REASON WHY I'M MAD BEYOND THAT SPECIFICALLY. [Very Personal Gripe]

A SALUTE TO CON O'NEILL -AGAIN!

I had the privilege of hyper-fixating on this show from the entirety of S1 ending to S2 beginning. During this time I explored the catalog of Con O'Neill's work on Tumblr under the tag 'Conography'. I watched this man play queer roles since the 1990s. Genderqueer/somewhere on the Trans spectrum, Gay, Bi. This man loves to play a queer story, even if it's sad. If it's tragic. He will breathe new life into their lungs and express their moments of Joy. Of love. Of community.

After the filming of S2 at a con, Con he felt comfortable publicly coming out due to the love and support he felt from our fandom. Do you know JUST how crazy that is? That Con KNEW Izzy was dead, yet he loved our fandom so much he let himself be vulnerable, and come out as queer? It's fucking INSANE to me, and shows just how much this show means to him.

He's not just Queer. He's a Queer fucking elder whose been protective of this entire community since S1. This 57-year-old man has proudly stood up in the name of Trans rights this entire time. Treating everyone, but especially Trans Izzy fans with so much fucking respect. Trans Izzy is a common headcanon partially because of how comfortable people feel knowing they won't get harassed because they interpret Izzy a certain way. That trans people feel at home seeing themselves as a misunderstood character with a chip on their shoulder.

I'm pissed for every in universe thing listed above AND NOW THIS. Because our Queer Elders are dead. There is a generation of Queer people we can never get back. They died from a mix of society pressuring these people into the closet or an early grave. Of disease running wild in communities unchecked. Of media ruining the careers of anyone who dared to come out. To see Con O'Neill So Fucking Happy and having it cut short because Jenkins thought Izzy was better dead than being an actual background character makes me see fucking red.

No. Jenkins probably didn't know Con was Queer when writing S2. But I'm assuming he still saw how happy Con was at Izzy fans before S2 was written which still makes it feel shitty.

Sure. Give Izzy all the amazing speeches about family and belonging and rip that right from his hands as soon as Izzy realizes it's something he might want for himself. Let's have Con O'Neill say all the prominent lines that are a blatant metaphor for why the Queer community needs to stick together.

Izzy's arc isn't just overshadowing the conversation because it was mismanaged and feels unplanned, it also just feels cruel to the central arc of this series. Add that to an actor who was so vocal about loving this community, it feels pointed to give him a tragic ending.

Jenkins doesn't need to consider why people hated this finale. Because there are SO MANY Ed/Stede fans who just don't care. They put Izzy in the box with every other side character and decided to put their effort into the protagonists and point and laugh when we suffer. Jenkins won't rethink anything because he can just say the 'Izzy community was passionate and are sad their favorite died'. Ignoring how this season made Stede into a shittier, less sympathetic captain and gave Ed an interesting arc only to give up before the finish line.

I didn't bring up how viewing Izzy as being useless post disability ALSO pissed people off but there are posts everywhere about that #physical disability is not my place so I don't overstep #THE WAY IZZYS DEATH WOULD WORK SO MUCH BETTER IF HE STEPPED INFRONT OF A BULLET MEANT FOR STEDE #Or that post floating around of Ed getting shot for Izzy. Showing that yes. Ed cares. that they're both fucked but are working on it #If most of the fan base hates the *implications* for S3 thanks to this ending it wasn't the right move #GOD I DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT THE DAD/MENTOR THING. Why Writing Marinette Is So Hard For Me (and maybe you will relate)

I'd talked with my friend about MLB characters, particulary miss Mari Sue Bread-Maker here. Even though I cast aside my salty behaviour to her and trying to see her as a plastic doll figure to write as a character, I still can put a finger on her base personality. But I'm drawing blanks here. It's because when I look at her throughout the seasons, the writers always trying to stick cool things to her, never actually developing her base that would make a decent start in writing. It's like they got a bulletin board of her with some of her base personaliry being overwhelmed and stacked brim full with sticky notes of "cool", "quirky", and "not like the other girls" things because she is sooo amazing she needs to be good at everything except being near Adrien, teehee~

All I can think of is something her stans would call "personality" (which is quite questionable if you really want to meet that kind of person in real life) on this list :

Clumsy: This one is not a personality but a motoric problem and needed to get treated asap before you are flying down the stairs. Where's all the bruises she got if she falls for the nth time that day? Girl's skin are thinner than boys.

"Loving" Adrien: Again, not a personality but a problem that needs to be treated asap before she got jail time. That fireman is insane to help a teenager becoming a criminal early in her life. Don't tell me that's how he approaches his wife...

"Overly Planning": Thrice of again, go to therapy asap. We only see her doing this to Adrien, not even her mom got a ready gift for the next 20 years. You might say that it's different kind of "love" but nah. If she is a real planner, she would swipe out a gift for her mom asap from under her desk. If you follow with her having ALL of her classmates schedules, she would be burning through her textiles to get them presents for their birthday for at least another 2-3 years.

I asked again to another friend of mine who usually write ideas and AUs. He said that even though Mari Sue's talents are admirable in handiwork, it even got corroded when the seasons stretched out. It only got passing mention of a few minutes screentime of certain episodes, but there's nothing that can ties her "passion" to her personality. She doesn't examine the texture of textiles, saying that it feels appropriate for [project] (eye for details); she doesn't take notes or inspirations from a painting, feelings, or stories ; heck, she doesn't even carry her needle and threads everywhere she goes in case of something; not even excitedly rambling about fashion like freaking Alya rambling about her scoop of journalism. The little details is to build importance of her passion, and it shows that the writers just don't care.

No wonder all I can think of when thought of her is her creepy, stalkerish, obsessive, and control freak tendencies because it's what apparently stay coherent throughout the seasons.

Seriously. All I can do is making an entire whole new personalities for her and I don't freaking wanna do that because I want to go straight to writing with a decent base. I would lose my drive to write just to remember to separate Mari Sue canon self and what personality I think would fit in.

Just last month, when covering Super Mario 64 Submarine Ending, I first discussed just how ridiculously good SiIvaGunner's ripping team has gotten at using Super Mario 64's instrumentation for rips. Hell, its far from the only rip of its kind I've covered here on the blog - Earth, Wind & Bombs, Harder To Breathe 64, slideless, Blessing the Dire, Dire Rains - and today's rip likely won't be the last of its ilk either. One could argue I feature these rips a bit *too* frequently, but...can you blame me? Super Mario 64 music is both essential to SiIvaGunner's legacy, and just exceptionally fun-sounding in its own right no matter what its arranged to. It feels like the clearest comfort-zone type of game to rip from, where almost anything you do with it is bound to sound somewhat authentic.

But I was aware I couldn't just feature any old Super Mario 64 arrangement once more on the blog - I had to find something to truly make this one stick. And what's something else I've harped on about on the blog almost as much as Mario? That's right - rips with "escalating" jokes, ones that keep building on themselves to surprise and delight for a rip's entire runtime. Such is best exemplified with Story of Undertale, one of the channel's best ever rips which arranges the entirety of Lady Gaga's bad romance whilst going through a majority of Undertale's soundtrack - in chronological order of appearance.

You put these two golden aspects together, and you end up with Piranha Plantsom - a full arrangement of Lil Tecca's Ransom in the styles of close to a dozen different songs from the Super Mario 64 soundtrack. While its unfortunately yet another song I primarily know from meme edits, its sparkling percussion sound always reminded me of that of a music box - the same kind of sound used in Piranha Plant's Lullaby in Super Mario 64. Its pretty likely this is what inspired Myeauxyoozi to make the rip to begin with, and the music box sound from the rip's first segment sticks around for many of the others - its a binding thread that keeps the rip cohesive, in a sense. As it moves between all sorts of different tracks from the game, both intense, low-key and zany, that one soothing little music box rhythm keeps them all unified - despite just being three notes, its what sticks with you after every listen.

Its something I discussed already in Plains of Des-passing-to, but I am genuinely so happy to be rediscovering my love for some of these music tracks upon getting to hear them in different contexts. I was never really one who paid much mind to Ransom when I'd hear it in various meme edits - the same way I never cared much for Despacito - but my overexposure to the tracks has undeniably made me somewhat attached to them, which SiIva's rippers so expertly prey on. Piranha Plantsom is more than simply a fantastic arrangement - its a loveletter to the entirety of Super Mario 64, a celebration of a great source track, and a display of Myeauxyoozi's seemingly endless pool of talent.

Summary: After Finn dies, Kurt leaves everything he knows behind without a trace. His hometown, his family, his boyfriend. When his dad has a medical scare, he returns to Lima, one year after breaking Blaine’s heart with no explanation.

It’s a grainy video, and not long either, so it keeps looping in the player of his phone over and over again, not unlike the last moments Blaine spent with Kurt replay in his mind constantly.

Blaine’s been doing better—he thinks he’s been doing better—since starting medication. His therapist said it would be a few weeks before he felt the full effects of the medicine, but seeing one low resolution video on Kurt’s snapchat story has shot Blaine straight back to day one.

It looks like he’s at a party. Somewhere dimly lit and loud. He’d check Kurt’s snap map location, but the last time he’d done that, he’d caught a glimpse of Kurt’s bitmoji all the way down in New Orleans, probably having the time of his life while Blaine lay in the wreckage of him.

He’d clicked on it and accidentally swiped up, likely sending a notification that he was in the thread or typing. When Blaine tried to look at the map again a few days later, no sign of Kurt. Looking up his location was of course the quickest way to scare off someone who wanted to stay hidden.

What he wouldn’t give to be able to face Kurt and say, Come home. Come let me love you. Come love me again.

Blaine swipes out of Kurt’s story, deciding not to torture himself anymore. As he closes to the main menu of the app, it gives him a different notification.

Memories from October, 2 Years Ago!

Blaine doesn’t have to open them. He remembers all too well. It was Halloween, and they’d dressed up as Sonny and Cher, which was an absolute hit at the yearly New Directions party.

It might not be Halloween anymore, but the ghost of Kurt still knows how to haunt the fuck out of Blaine.

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? Honestly, I fell in love with Vasco at the beginning and thought about "what if I suddenly make a blog for him" since I wanted to make a new blog on Tumblr. As much as I love my previous blog (haven't logged into it for nearly two years now), I wanted something new and fresh. I am glad I did pick up my current muse. Now, for my oc, I've been struggling to put in energy and attention into new ocs. Every concepts were thrown to the side. So, I told myself that whatever concept popped into my mind first, I am sticking with it and it happened to be a cleric / high priestess. I forced myself to sit on the idea until I get more ideas.

is there anything you don’t like to write? I mean besides the obvious, I am down to write anything. So, there isn't much to add here.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? While I prefer to write fluff and angst, I am game for anything.

how do you come up with headcanons? It's a complicated matter. Anything and everything is my inspiration. I can be sitting there, minding my business and suddenly a HC comes into my mind. I can even stare at the wall for two hours and it will come to me. Usually I consume media (whatever I am watching at the moment) or playing that helps me a lot. Like, what if this character is put in this situation? What happens if they have to go through this?

do you write in silence or do you play music? Depends on my mood for the day. Sometimes I require silence to write. Sometimes I require some kind of background noise like a movie or a song. Usually I put on a tv show or a movie to help me because I tend to do two things at once while watching.

do you plan your replies or wing them? Depends on what kind of thread it is. Usually I wing it. But if I can't figure out how to reply and I want to reply, I will plan it out.

do you enjoy shipping? I do!! While it isn't my top priority, I can't deny how much it brings me joy to ship with people.

Get To Know The Mun

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? ━━ So, given that I have way too many muses on my blog and Monkey was gracious enough to only ask me about Jinx, I am gonna talk about Jinx. Funny enough, it is really hard for me to pinpoint what made me pick her. Back when I first started writing as Jinx about a year ago, maybe two, nothing about her character was up my alley. Jinx was probably one of the most not my typical muses, I have ever written.

Yet, thinking back on it, I actually remember why I picked her. Believe it or not, it was her mental instability. Back then I was in a really rough spot mentally, like I was overwhelmed with anxieties and worries and a lot of difficulties in sorting out my thoughts. Writing Jinx felt like I could embody this difficulty in my head. She was almost like a pressure valve in that sense. And she kept having that function in my life.

Nowadays, with me having started playing League and getting more involved in that fandom, I cannot think her away from my set of muses. Jinx actually made me grow a lot more confident as I was able to tackle such an unusual topic with her mania and madness. Getting compliments for that really meant a lot.

Over these two years, Jinx has turned into a pretty significant and important muse for me. Likely because I wrote her during such a time of emotional shifts and turmoil. She has stuck by me and I really hope, she is not leaving soon. I am really looking forward to Arcane Season 2, but even so, I hope my inspiration sticks around for a long time.

is there anything you don’t like to write? ━━ I do not really like writing pregnancy threads, but then I never reblog anything, which revolves around that topic. So, it is not like it ever came up. There are some topics like politics and economics, which I have difficulties with when writing, but I don't hate writing those and instead rather embrace the challenge. I just prefer it if you do not throw me into something, without giving me the chance to back out when necessary. A courtesy, which I try to give my partners too. Simply because I know that sometimes I can get a little weird and creepy.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? ━━ I think it has to be gore or horror. I genuinely really love writing anything under the angst umbrella, though, I admit I am very partial to a predatory style of writing. Predatory by the way can both mean animalism but also something in the more non-con and dubious consent valley. In short, I enjoy writing stuff, which leaves you in a bit of a yiekes feeling. I also really enjoy scenes where characters have to confront uncomfortable or tough truths about themselves. I like writing moments when characters actively have to engage with the darker parts of themselves.

how do you come up with headcanons? ━━ Most of the time, when I write a headcanon, it normally is there to answer a big question, I have. I tend to pick certain tropes and principles, I want to portray with a muse, including things I do not want to creep into my portrayal. My first big headcanons normally are there to explain certain core traits or actions in canon. Because of how they tackle broader topics, this also tends to create a domino effect when it comes to headcanons. Ergo one headcanon ends up growing from another. Of course, there are also times when my muses just decide to do certain things and I cannot really pinpoint why they do it. All I know is, that it feels right. Naturally, I also incorporate outside sources for my inspiration, from shows to talk with friends or pictures.

do you write in silence or do you play music? ━━ I always have music on when I am writing. I am very used to the ambience music creates and I feel almost uncomfortable if I do not hear anything while I am writing. I also often pick specific songs for certain characters, themes, scenes or even genres.

do you plan your replies or wing them? ━━ I think I am a blend of both things. Usually, me and my rp partner have some kind of plan about what narrative arc, we are trying to tell. I try to lead my muses down that narrative arc, while also giving them the freedom to surprise me and my partner and let them do unexpected things. Do not get me wrong: I like exploring romantic dynamics, whether they be toxic or healthy, however, I am starting to come to terms with the fact that it seems that the dynamics, I thrive the most in, are familial and platonic dynamics. I feel like they often have a much bigger variety of possibilities and they can be just as powerful and gutwrenching as any romantic ship. Now, that does not mean, I do not like romantic dynamics, however, I realise that I have become far more selective with them.

Whether that be Don't Remember Me by HalaCG, Re-Align by Godsmack or Playground by Bea Miller; chances are if I hearted it for my Spotify fav list, I listen to it regularly.

last movie you watched? ━━ Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse. Yes, I recognise I am late to the party!

LMAO i didn't mean to sound defensive! i actually had so much fun with hannibal, i wouldn't say i hate it at all. but yeah you're so right about abigail. even the metaphors the show used with her were so, idk, dehumanizing? the football, the teacup. also the dreams will has of her where she's all placid, smiling (and also likes him). please sir this girl was an anxious wreck and she HATED your guts. i remember being the character's age when i watched it and being like 'wow, i would've hated all of these adults'.

ok now i understand what ur saying ha yeah i actually think her relationship with hannibal is very interesting and coherent in season 1 its her relationship with will and i guess any agency outside of this that leaves u sort of baffled like will projects onto her like if she is innocent he somehow feels like he is more innocent but she is rightfully kind of afraid of him and theres not really anything interesting but with hannibal it like both makes sense why people would trust him with her hes a respected psychiatrist and has gained the personal trust of everyone involved in her case vs will its like why is he here and also that she is the first person to realize whats going on with hannibal is fascinating like i love the scene when he invites her over to dinner and gives her shrooms mostly to mess with her and alana shows up and is like what the fuck and hannibal convinces her its fine and to stay for dinner and alanas sitting there enjoying her meal and theres just this split second look on abigails face you can tell she knows what the meat is and she looks at hannibal clearly putting the pieces together even more like obviously the second she put even a few pieces together when she was like oh and you be the man on the phone was of course when hannibal had to entrap her into his life again very vampirically that like killing and the secrets he will keep literally changing her that she cant fully escape him idk its an interesting thread thru season 1 of course thats also i think where like the weaknesses with her writing compared to like claudia who is also very much viewed as a vessel for louis and lestat to project onto but thats of course partially because its all being told from louis's point of view but also viewing her as simply a doll they can mold to their will which very much leads to the destruction of their family and growing resentment in claudia like shes never fully granted agency shes actually quite defined by lack of agency which is extremely difficult for her to deal with the older and older but idk shes a fascinating character to me that i really love and idk aggravating the inspiration was taken from her but i just dont feel like abigail is as clearly defined in the story even as a character confined by not being a main character and stuck in relation to other characters and mainly viewed through their eyes like she is successful as a puzzle piece in hannibals complex machinations to frame will but idk feels lacking in what does she want like i think dragging her story out to parts of season 2 and the visions of her in season 3 like idk i feel like its satisfying if she died in season 1 or if she actually survived into season 3 and wandered europe with will dsjklfda; which of course would be another parallel with interview lol i did enjoy wills conversations with mind abigail in season 3 like post season 1 her involvement starts to make a bit more sense she has faked her death left the world of the living behind and has few other options and sticking with someone else manipulated and messed with by hannibal her relationship with will would start to make sense as well but idk shes kind of a baffling piece of the puzzle but whatever ok sorry for this text wall <3

What is Patchwork Heart?

I’m replacing my pinned post with a new one I like better that hits a lot of the same points.

Patchwork Heart is currently my largest individual writing project.

At this point in development it’s a story with 4 main protagonists in two separate narratives that will come together later, the most major of these characters being Sapphire Valiant.

The story largely features monsters in the Sapphire half, and a mix of monsters and humans in the only narrative which follows the obsessive monster hunter Sabrina Oak.

The general plot of the two stories is Sapphire and the monster storyline’s other protagonist Faria Nightingale trying to survive humans as well as the environment to a degree with a group of other monsters, all while the two try to figure out what they are, as all the creatures are different unknown species. They are also frequently put at the mercy of larger than life adversaries seemingly working towards a bigger cause which seem to house at least some of this information.

For the Sabrina half of the story we follow Sabrina and her best friend Kim-Ly as they chase down monsters and try to find Sabrina’s missing older sister Sierra who has been missing since the girls were 8 and is presumed dead. Sabrina has dedicated her life to this quest, not letting herself have any “distractions”, Kim-Ly sticks around not because she believes Sierra is alive but because she knows she’s not and is trying to pull Sabrina out of her psychotic delusion.

The story has adult themes with large amounts of gore, violence, existentialism, occasional sexual themes (although never intensely), body horror, strong language as well as references to trafficking and abuse (in this world monsters are frequently trafficked to be sold off as pets, home defence, and other purposes).

Patchwork Heart is a LGBTQ+ story with many of the characters: Including Sapphire, Faria, Zero, and Infinity all being part of the community with Sapphire being a lesbian, Faria being bisexual, Zero Pansexual, and Infinity GayAce. However I do believe the story will hopefully be enjoyable for viewers who are not LGBTQ+ as well as those who are.

It’s most definitely not for everyone due to all of the themes mentioned.

This story is inspired in part by series such as Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel, and Murder Drones.

Patchwork Heart is a story that I will be putting a lot of care and love into and I hope some people will like it.

To get into technical stuff Patchwork Heart is a heavily plot driven story with a lot of lore behind it that currently I am the sole writer and artist for, however if you are at all interested in joining the project please contact me as I feel having a team would help with not only speeding up the project and making it generally better, but also getting different perspectives could help me with ideas for the story.

Art wise I currently do not have very much technical skill however I promise in the future you will likely be getting a pilot.

Patchwork Heart at this point is going to be a comic written like a TV show with 24 episode seasons, all of these seasons except the first having their own main antagonist for the characters to face.

This is an anti-proshipper project as I do not tolerate that kind of thing.

While this series might at SOME point have a price, the first season will be free and the later seasons will not be overly expensive because I don’t like the idea of restricting art or selling out, the only reason I feel I should have a price at all is because I feel like if I bring other people onto the team they would need to be paid, it’s really a passion project for me.

Patchwork Heart is in early development still and will take a very long time to reach completion.

LMK S4 THEORY TIME

So I was thinking about the box art that came out recently and thought of something we might see in season 4, involving Mei, the Samadhi fire, and her love for the game Monkey Mech.

[!This post contains MAJOR SPOILERS for previous seasons of lego monkie kid, especially season 3!]

Inspired by this thread by colesmonkies on Twitter!

The thread above talks about how season 4 might take place inside a video game, specifically Monkey Mech, or maybe even the unnamed game that Wukong made from S2E6 "Game on". This theory is supported by the fact that Monkey Mech has been a big part of the show since the very first episode, and that it inspired MK's physical monkey mech power - which is the sole thing that separates him from Monkey King as his successor.

This journey into the game (instead of actually traveling to the past) would help tell the story of Monkey King's adventures that were never covered in Journey to the west, like his relationship with Macaque. Because let's be honest, that monkey would never talk about his past problems out of his own free will, especially not that part of his life.

Some people have pointed out that it was suspicious how MK's arcade machine was highlighted next to MK's staff and the scroll in the end scene. We know the latter is definitely going to be important in season 4, and we know Pigsy removed the game from his store when it kept distracting MK from his work too much.

So why does Wukong have it? Did he just want to have the game for himself to play? Or maybe there's something special about it? And most importantly, how would they get INTO the game in the first place?

Mei has a big role in MK's Monkey Mech obsession. It's also her favorite game and she's an expert at it, easily beating him (or anyone else, really) every time they compete against each other.

Very early in the series, in S1E3 "Coming home", she reveals a bit about her childhood, her personal life and her family, and obtains her dragon sword. She has grown a lot since then, going through character development comparable to that of MK himself and other major characters.

In S3E6 "The first ring" she is shown to be able to create, or at least modify, other vehicles and transform them into her own, very much like MK's physical monkey mech. She does this by plugging her dragon sword into it like some sort of overpowered USB stick. This particular vehicle is white gold and blue instead of her usual green, the same color scheme as her Monkey mech horse character (and her outfit on the new box art).

Also why did Red son have an input specifically for Mei's dragon sword in his car? I could go on about this but that's a topic for another post

Mei is insanely powerful even without the sword, or her dragon powers. She has created a fully stocked futuristic secret base, owns multiple personalised motorbikes, put a totally-not-creepy digital tracking system on all of her friends, and probably much more i forgot about while writing this post. She is a massive tech nerd much like Red son, the previous holder of the Samadhi fire.

Thanks to him, Mei has now learned to make the fire her own. This is a huge development, something i assume they won't just gloss over in season 4. I fully expect to see more of her abilities now that she has the fire under her control, especially combined with her dragon powers. We've only seen a snippet of what she can do with it (Including nearly cooking MK alive on like... three separate occasions).

I was watching the season 3 specials again, and one thing Red son said stuck out to me:

The samadhi fire is more than just an inextinguishable flame. It's an interdimensional weapon, with the destructive power to burn through the very fabric of reality."

Season 3 put emphasis on the fact that the fire could destroy reality. But what if through some training, the fire could also modify it, BEND it? We know Mei can teleport now, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to assume she could use this INTERDIMENSIONAL weapon to travel between realities.

We've seen that Mei can plug her sword into things to give them a "power up". So what i think might happens is that she will use it on the Monkey Mech arcade machine, and using the samadhi fire's interdimensional abilities, somehow transport herself and her friends into the reality of the game where (a big part of) season 4 will take place. She will need to leave her sword plugged in while being in there, which could explain why she doesn't have it with her in the box art.

TLDR: My theory is that the plot of season 4 will be about Mei plugging her dragon sword into the Monkey mech arcade machine, and transporting herself and her friends into the game thanks to her new samadhi fire powers.

I don't really have an idea for why they would enter the game and how the scroll could to this. Maybe they just wanted some fun, or it was an accident? Either way, they would need to find a way to get out back to their own reality, either by finishing the game or with help from outside. (Red son on Guanyin? Flying Bark? pls?)

EDIT 3/12/2022: MORE THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS BECAUSE MORE SETS CAME OUT!

The man antagonists of the new sets are the yellow tusk elephant, azure lion and golden-winged eagle which are minor characters in Journey to the West. The Rhino king was a character from JTTW that made a cameo in Wukong's game in S2E6, so it's likely that these three new animal-based characters will have a similar antagonistic role.

But what stood out to me are their sidekicks, called "ink demons". These demons are original characters, never appearing in JTTW. @/sonofwu on twitter pointed out that heir names imply that there's a possibility our main cast will dive into the world of a book (the scroll from S3E14?) instead of a video game, or that the characters in the book come alive into the real world of Monkie kid.

Since Mei gets a lot of focus in the sets, and her and MK being the only ones not as their past selves unlike Pigsy, Sandy and Tang, I believe there's still a possibility of her using her sword to take MK and herself into this dimension (either into the book or the game) instead of traveling to the past.

Something that stood out to me as well was the backgrounds for these sets, which appear very similar to the scenery in Wukong's game from S2E6. This could support the theory that they'll travel into this game instead of Monkey Mech.

In one set, MK, Mei, and the original versions of Pigsy and Sandy are shown to be vendors of some kind of stores (for example, Mei being a blacksmith). Maybe this implies that they'll take part in the game as NPC's too, like how the original Tang did in Wukong's game.

Also, you know how I said Pigsy, Sandy and Tang looked like their past selves in these sets? They also have VERY similar outfits to their game counterparts! I wonder if this means anything....
