Among Drip Drop Galaxy
Season 5 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume GS
Ripped by Myeauxyoozi
youtube
Honestly, out of all the jokes in current rotation on SiIvaGunner, I feel like Among Us edits are just about the most consistently good rips on the channel? The absolutely hysteria and chaos surrounding the game's release, legacy, and meme infamy is just never going to go away, and there's so many legendary audio sources to take from already. There's of course the legendary Big Gay's ranting call-to-action to make us stop posting about the game, which I covered with the excellent Big Sus Chocobo, there's the hit sociopath streamer Jerma986 who still holds the title of "the Sus guy" and appears in rips like Going Somewhere Jerma?...yet perhaps most famous of all, and one I've somehow not yet covered until now - are the rips using the legendary Among Us Trap Remix. Rips like Among Drip Drop Galaxy.
Part riding the popularity of the game, part riding its slow descent into ironic shitposting, part actually catching the attention of kids who do think "Among Us Trap Remix" are the coolest series of words ever put together by man - the result is an anthem that has effectively become the theme song to the game itself. If you're deep in the internet trenches to know about SiIvaGunner, deep enough to be reading this very blog post, you KNOW about the Among Us Trap Remix, its associations with the meme of "Among Us Drip", and have likely seen dozens upon dozens of edits using the theme already.
Yet even with that said, Among Drip Drop Galaxy is such a perfect use of the meme, that it blew my mind it hadn't been made by someone else than SiIva beforehand. There's of course the name to start - the word "Drip" in "Drip Drop Galaxy" will likely never be looked at the same way again by the modern internet user due to the sudden explosion of using the term to refer to cool-looking, fashionable people or characters, once taken seriously but now wholly drenched in meme-laced irony when used. Drip Drop Galaxy, fittingly enough, also already sports a sort of ominous, haunting melody and sound, akin to the ambience and sound design of Among Us itself, and by extension the sound building the foundation to the Among Us Trap Remix. I recall I first called something a "Perfect Rip" when describing Bowser is Coming., but the sentiment absolutely applies here just as much. Myeauxyoozi leaped headfirst at an idea that feels too obvious to not have been done before, yet also just an absolutely brilliant rip idea, and executes it with his trademark love for quality applied to the absurd (remember Shaky Mountain?). The results speak for themselves.
All the pieces of Among Drip Drop Galaxy just come together so effortlessly in its 75-second runtime, from the suspenseful opening only teasing the introduction of the Among Us Trap Remix, to the pausing of the main music to allow the "beat drop" to play out as intended within silence, to having the Among Us Trap Remix lead instrument play the melody of the original song for the back half of the song - it allows the two songs to feel truly mashed together in the most seamless way possible. Althewhile, of course, my childhood discomfort with the original Drip Drop Galaxy world and its atmosphere clashes brilliantly with the comedic value that I immediately associate Among Us edits with upon first recognition.
I may, just like always, be overthinking all this, but...there's simply not many other rips on the channel that manage to make quite as much immediate sense in my head as Among Drip Drop Galaxy. Simple as it may sound, it truly does represent my idea of a perfect rip.

Totally Shaaking Out Right Now
Season 6 Featured on: The Harlem Shakeover
Ripped by Myeauxyoozi
youtube
Well, I've coincidentally been covering a lot of corners of the King for a Day Tournaments recently - so I figured it best to wrap this whole thing up with something I've been waiting to write about for a while. We've seen the winners and losers, the happenstance heroes and the shining stars, and all the different emotional reactions that the tournament's contestants gave us. All except one - one I've only previously alluded to with Shaky Mountain and later A New Threat. It's about time we look at the last remaining piece of the King for a Day Tournament. The Disaster.
As part of the initial 16-character roster of Season 3's King for a Day Tournament, Ajit Pai was immediately recognizable as a complete joke inclusion to most viewers. His source list was pretty shallow compared to a lot of other contestants, and he only got a single rip to promote his potential - the forebodingly titled Harlem Shakeover. It wasn't long until he was defeated at the hands of Thanos, turned to dust to float away in the wind, seemingly destined to forever remain a one-off joke amidst a sea of other figments on SiIva. Yet as I covered in A New Threat, the King for Another Day Tournament aimed to actually bring Ajit Pai back as a serious contender for the top, with a buffed source list and an actual twist to his character - reincarnated within a suit of armor, clinging for life after his defeat at the hands of Thanos.
After all of that, after going from joke, to actually trying, to losing and sitting the entirety of Season 5 out - it came as a complete shock to see Ajit Pai return for Season 6, and for him to bring his long-promised Harlem Shakeover with him. Yet I think there's something really poetic to be mined from it, story wise - there's something to be said thematically about someone like Ajit Pai just refusing to let go of life on SiIvaGunner despite having so little to actually offer, such a small fanbase to appeal to, and simply refusing to move on with life. Coincidentally already happening in Season 6, the Season all about grief, loss, and the need to move on, Ajit Pai's 10-day Harlem Shakeover was a great change of pace with a lot of levity, yet still left me with far too much to think about. The guy is canonically literally just ashes, and gave us 10 days of LITERALLY JUST ONE SINGLE JOKE to be repeated into the ground - yet still refused to move on. In a way, it prepared us all for what would happen by the end of the Season - the end of the SiIva AI itself.
Anyway, yeah, uh, sorry about all that - Totally Shaaking Out Right Now is fucking great, as are tons of the other rips from the Shakeover. I covered it in Shaky Mountain, but rippers like Myeauxyoozi really did work their asses off to ensure that these 10 days of torture were as impressively varied as possible within the constraints they worked in, and showed so many fascinatingly good examples of how to use the meme in. Inbetween the joke rips and shorter gags, there are rips like the two mentioned in this paragraph that just genuinely lend themselves fantastically to the wub-wub sound of the Harlem Shake.

Moriah Carey
Season 5 Featured on: The Inevitable Holiday Album
Ripped by Myeauxyoozi
youtube
Honestly, at first glance I kind of forgot why I even put this rip in the drafts of posts! All that I knew was that it wasn't one I've ever had in any of my playlists, yet I had no recollection of how it ended up here. As soon as I hit play to listen back to it again though, the memories of laughing to this stupid shit at 2AM a few weeks ago all came flooding back - Moriah Carey is a stupid idea that should've never been attempted, executed with such perfect gusto. This is a rip that'll haunt me forever in its sheer absurdity.
Mo Bamba by rapper Sheck Wes isn't exactly a tune I've been able to place a finger on until just recently - I knew it was a viral song in the same vein as Sicko Mode, but it felt so entirely out of my wheelhouse to even begin to try and look into. Yet without having done that research for either of those tracks - or indeed, music like Right Foot Creep, I suddenly found myself with an attachment to them purely through idiotic, ironic shitposting. Both of the two aforementioned songs are ones I've covered here before with SICKO TALE and Loopdeloop Griddy respectively, so I suppose its about time to close the trio out - even if, really, I don't have much constructive to say.
Because like, really - its just a damn funny idea! The droning, almost haunting beat of Mo Bamba, paired with the borderline obnoxious cheerfulness of Mariah Carey's played-out Christmas music, is juxtaposition in its clearest form, and works pretty much perfectly together for comedic effect due to that. Its a pretty fun listen unironically as well of course, the mix is done very properly despite its absurd concept, and there's a really fun little sprinkle tossed in halfway through the rip.
Myeauxyoozi, from all the rips I've heard of him, seems to just really have a great sense of humor and ability to capitalize off of those jokes (Shaky Mountain, anyone?). And it certainly worked on me, even if it was through me basically playing a sleep-deprived Russian Roulette with all of my downloaded albums whilst unable to go to sleep. Yet I really do remember it giving me a very genuine smile on my face - and hey, joy and laughter is just as much part of the holiday spirit as anything else, no matter how it's delivered.

Bramble Blast Collab

Hot off the heels of yesterday's celebration, I felt it only right to follow it up with yet more celebration. Wheras SING A SONG ABOUT HOPES AND DREAMS was part of a celebration of SiIvaGunner as a whole, today we're looking at a somewhat different celebration: the premiere of Season 6, Bramble Blast Collab, is an enchantingly unique collab even amidst the channel's long history of doing them.
Kickstarted by our good friend tunedlink back in Season 1, collabs like the File Select Fusion Collab were initially labelled as just that - "fusion" collabs, a carryover from the Kirbtunes remix project they were imitating. These proved to be immensely popular and loved by the community, and so the "fusion collab" branding stuck around, eventually morphing into a whole new, more clearly-segmented form of collaborative projects. I'm yet to cover any of these on the blog, but Season 7's Shop Fusion Collab is an excellent example of these collabs - each segment lovingly crafted by teams of rippers with visuals to match. In comparison, the old style of fusion collab may seem a bit messy, a bit unfocused and noisy. But amidst that noise, these have always been able to serve as incredible celebrations of so many parts of SiIvaGunner all at once.
While File Select Fusion Collab served to celebrate the good times had across Season 1, looking back upon all of its events and memes in a sentimental way, Bramble Blast Collab has always felt more...mixed, in its messaging. It has old memes, of course, be it Space Jam, Soulja Boy, or the introductory clip of Chad Warden's holy ghost, but...its filled to the brim with so much more, sources from the channel's recent history like Big Time Rush, Yankin' and Astronaut in the Ocean, amidst sources that are basically never seen on the channel such as Baldi's Basics and Smiling Friends. Its all delivered at a pace that's insanely fast even for the standard of these kinds of collabs - the result is a noise collage not just of SiIvaGunner's history, but of its possible future - the jokes we're yet to hear the full potential of, mixed in with small snippets of our old memories.
Althesame, it carries a slight sense of melancholy to it buried underneath all those funny memes: The track its built on *is* Bramble Blast, after all, one of the most emotionally poignant pieces of retro VGM out there. After rummaging around a zillion sources for most of the rip, the four-minute mark feels as if the song is breaking free of itself with the core melody re-emerging at full force, gradually built up by the increased prominence of the backing melody from the three-minute mark. Season 6, even as early as this, had the feeling of sorrow sort of engrained in it from the announcement of GilvaSunner - the original channel SiIvaGunner is made in tribute of - officially shutting down later that year. The fallout of which wouldn't quite be understood until I've won, but at what cost, but even as far back as the Season's premiere it was as if we were all gearing up for the inevitable.
Bramble Blast Collab, with its noise, its barrage of memes and its enchanting core throughline, remains one of my favorite season premieres the channel has ever done, and I feel it's not appreciated nearly enough for just how incredible of a collaboration it is. My hat goes off to the dozen rippers involved in its creation, for setting the stage perfectly for the ride Season 6 would end up being - althewhile keeping the spirit of the old Fusion Collabs alive and kicking.

Piranha Plantsom
Season 6 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume DQ
Ripped by Myeauxyoozi
youtube
Just last month, when covering Super Mario 64 Submarine Ending, I first discussed just how ridiculously good SiIvaGunner's ripping team has gotten at using Super Mario 64's instrumentation for rips. Hell, its far from the only rip of its kind I've covered here on the blog - Earth, Wind & Bombs, Harder To Breathe 64, slideless, Blessing the Dire, Dire Rains - and today's rip likely won't be the last of its ilk either. One could argue I feature these rips a bit *too* frequently, but...can you blame me? Super Mario 64 music is both essential to SiIvaGunner's legacy, and just exceptionally fun-sounding in its own right no matter what its arranged to. It feels like the clearest comfort-zone type of game to rip from, where almost anything you do with it is bound to sound somewhat authentic.
But I was aware I couldn't just feature any old Super Mario 64 arrangement once more on the blog - I had to find something to truly make this one stick. And what's something else I've harped on about on the blog almost as much as Mario? That's right - rips with "escalating" jokes, ones that keep building on themselves to surprise and delight for a rip's entire runtime. Such is best exemplified with Story of Undertale, one of the channel's best ever rips which arranges the entirety of Lady Gaga's bad romance whilst going through a majority of Undertale's soundtrack - in chronological order of appearance.
You put these two golden aspects together, and you end up with Piranha Plantsom - a full arrangement of Lil Tecca's Ransom in the styles of close to a dozen different songs from the Super Mario 64 soundtrack. While its unfortunately yet another song I primarily know from meme edits, its sparkling percussion sound always reminded me of that of a music box - the same kind of sound used in Piranha Plant's Lullaby in Super Mario 64. Its pretty likely this is what inspired Myeauxyoozi to make the rip to begin with, and the music box sound from the rip's first segment sticks around for many of the others - its a binding thread that keeps the rip cohesive, in a sense. As it moves between all sorts of different tracks from the game, both intense, low-key and zany, that one soothing little music box rhythm keeps them all unified - despite just being three notes, its what sticks with you after every listen.
Its something I discussed already in Plains of Des-passing-to, but I am genuinely so happy to be rediscovering my love for some of these music tracks upon getting to hear them in different contexts. I was never really one who paid much mind to Ransom when I'd hear it in various meme edits - the same way I never cared much for Despacito - but my overexposure to the tracks has undeniably made me somewhat attached to them, which SiIva's rippers so expertly prey on. Piranha Plantsom is more than simply a fantastic arrangement - its a loveletter to the entirety of Super Mario 64, a celebration of a great source track, and a display of Myeauxyoozi's seemingly endless pool of talent.

Shaky Mountain
Season 6 Featured on: siivagunner's highest quality rips: volume
Ripped by Myeauxyoozi
youtube
Alright, I promise I will get to covering Season 6's Harlem Shakeover one day, but it's a big thing to unpack, okay! All you need to know about it for this rip in particular is that there was a takeover of two weeks where every single rip uploaded was nothing but the Harlem Shake. The takeover was as hilarious as it was torturous, and many parts of the fanbase celebrated its ending, or at least that's what I saw from the comments section. Yet in typical SiIva fashion, the joke refused to die: The harlem shake kept propping up every now and then in rips acting as if the takeover never truly ended. It created a sort of fear in the fanbase only really comparable to the infamous (and far worse) Bean incidents in Season 1.
What made it all worth it, though, was that these Harlem Shake rips, both ones during and after the takeover, are CRAZY good. I don't understand for the life of me why Myeauxyoozi decided to dedicate his time on the channel to making over 50 different Harlem Shake rips, but he's evidently a master of his craft. In Shaky Mountain in particular, every aspect of the original track is used perfectly, from the vocal samples to the intro sequence before the actual "shake" commences, to the lead instrument and its wub-wub backing...I just can't get over how perfectly placed out it all is.
I might be a bit biased toward this track in particular, as I've always had a fondness for how Kirby songs' high BPM lent themselves well to really fast jokes. High quality rips are very good at making you laugh as soon as they start, and that goes double for ones that move at such an insanely fast tempo.
