Caleb Love and deep space thoughts- SPOILERS AHEAD

Second update of brain dumping my thoughts as I play through the game… this time entirely Caleb focused

Ok so I’ve been reading Caleb’s anecdotes, dates, every scrap of info that becomes available to me…. And holy shit he’s such a simp!

Man almost fucking died, was lost in space for 2 weeks, and he’s just like “haha hey pipsqueak! Yea secret training mission, sorry, I’m back online!” As he’s in a hospital bed. Like baby boy not letting mc know he almost died???? And then the card/memory/whatever it’s called where he’s sick, and she has to basically beg him all day to let her in? Man wants to be Superman for her. Seriously, he’s out here becoming a pilot cuz it would pay well and help provide for mc, and if anything happened he could just whisk her away.

He literally worships the ground mc walks on. Obsessed with the necklace he gave him, kissing the pendant before each flight, not letting her lift a finger at the house when it comes to chore type things, using his evol to win her plushies at the claw machine… also he’s soooo obviously into the domestic life with mc! His house is bare bones before the reunion. Then MC shows up and there’s the scene where he’s surrounded by boxes, setting things up….. I picture him totally kicking himself for not having everything set up sooner, bc he got a house just so she could move in. I see him just living in an apartment that’s part of the officer barracks. There’s no reason why he has a whole ass house if not for mc. He just didn’t expect her to have infiltrated his ranks as a spy and to pop up so soon…. But hey she’s here now and so he’s totally buying everything and having a hot ikea build sesh in that slutty little tank top of his.

Oh and you know he’s a cheeky idiot about the fact that mc picked his room when deciding where to stay. Like we got that from the gameplay obviously…. But I just want to take moment to appreciate how hard that man must have been grinning on the inside. I also think it’s so cute that mc really is just making his place a second home. She’s got a little garden going at his house! She talks about the little yellow flowers she planted there in one of the text messages, and when he mentioned restocking his snacks on a community post mcs already planning on raiding it.

Also he’s been so obsessed with her since they were kids. Like he’s got some weird amnesia brain trauma shit going on after his deep space incident, and he scored poorly on the mental health portion of his exams (not him answering the “what’s the greatest challenge with flight missions?” Question with “it’s hard to get home on time”), and I’m assuming he was also an experiment by ever like MC is (but I haven’t gotten to the point where I can say that for sure), but like. That isn’t why he’s the way he is. Man was out here protecting her from bullies, the thing where he’d buy two of everything for mc, think he said something like “I wanted to grow up to be the most loyal… well you know, I could be” LOYAL HUSBAND? But from the jump he’s been doing everything for her. It’s so interesting getting this background from all the memories and whatnot. Like he’s made it such a source of pride to take care of mc in every tiny way, and so when she says stuff about not needing him, or uh, I don’t remember what thing it was part of but she fixed some electronic and was like “damn that was easier than I thought, guess I gotta stop bugging you for every tiny little thing, I can just figure it out.” and he PANICS! Like no baby- that’s his comfort thing. No matter what else is going on, at least he can feel needed and wanted when you come playfully whining to him that you can’t find your favorite mug. He’s the walking advertisement for acts of service. Also one last thing.

Yall noticed how he put his hat on mc like right after the reunion? The only thing I could think of is what it means when you put on a guys cowboy hat. Like damn Caleb. She’s still in shock that you’re not dead. But get it ig.

If you like crafting and making jewelry, you best bet JJ is wearing every single thing you make him even if it looks tacky or childish. He will wear that colorful beaded bracelet with pride and tell everyone that his talented girlfriend made it for him.

You had started making jewelry half as a joke and half out of boredom. You figured you’d make some silly little bracelets and give them to your friends as a gag gift.

You were just working with beads for now, so you weren’t being fancy by any means.

Of course you had made one for jj. It was full of different shades of blue beads, some white, with some little ocean themed charms. Plus, a few hearts, of course.

When you gave it to him, you would have thought you gave him a fucking Cartier bracelet or something.

“Holy shit, you made this?” He was dumbfounded, his mouth agape as he studied the little bracelet, immediately sliding it onto his wrist.

You laughed quietly, unsure if he was being overly dramatic as a joke.

“Uh, yeah. I mean, it’s nothing crazy, jay. I was bored yesterday and found a case of old beads I had from when I was a kid.” You explained, genuinely not expecting him to be so excited.

“You kidding me? This is sick. You make any more?” He asked, nodding his head in the direction of you cluttered desk, where you did indeed have several more that you made.

“Yeah, but these ones are silly. Seriously, I was just messing around.” You told him, watching as he walked over to your desk, studying all of your other creations in awe.

He was immediately drawn to one you had made for yourself. Pink beads, hearts, butterfly charms, and your name was spelled out.

He grabbed that one, holding it out to you.

“Can I have this one, too?” He asked, dead serious.

Your heart raced at his words, damn near wanting to cry at how sweet he was being. He was being so genuine and supportive and you had never felt someone show you so much love and pride for something quite literally so small.

“You want that one?” You giggled, and he nodded in response, already sliding it onto the same wrist as his other one.

“Baby, you got some real talent here. You gotta start one of them Etsy shops or somethin’.” He pulled you into him by your waist, kissing your lips a few times before pulling back and holding out his wrist to you.

“You gotta make me some more, babe, seriously. Next paycheck imma take you to the craft store so you can get some more stuff.”

He wore his two bracelets proudly, going about his day as usual, not taking them off, even for work.

That was when someone made a comment.

“Shit, maybank, I like the new ice. Didn’t know you had a baby sister.” Someone snickered at him as he bussed tables, causing him to set the buss tub down harshly, turning to face the guy that was talking shit.

“Shut the fuck up, man. My girl made these. Do we have a fuckin�� problem?” jj challenged, ready to fight for your honor.

Say what you want about jj, but don’t say shit about his loved ones.

Fortunately for the other guy, he wasn’t in the mood to fight over a bracelet, even though jj was. So he just held his hands up in surrender and backed away.

“Whatever, dude. Don’t get your panties in a twist.” He concluded, making jj clench his fists as he inhaled sharply, his heart racing in anger.

He didn’t want to let some random asshole get the last word, but he could see his boss from the corner of his eye, so he forced himself to take a deep breath and continue working. He couldn’t afford to get fired, he had to take you out to get more craft supplies.

Thoughts about Hades 2 as a tech test player

Everything is under a read more bc. 1. Long post. 2. Spoilers for Hades 2.

1. The game is fucking s m o o t h. Loads quicker and everything feels more stream lined.

2. It’s somewhat harder than Hades 1. Idk if it’s bc of not having a super buffed character but I am definitely finding it a little more challenging. Not a bad thing though!

3. Melinoë plays a little different from Zag which is to be expected! We now have a sprint, spells, and new weapons. Already loving how regular casts and specials don’t have a cast limit. Also love the twin blades. Fast weapon go brrrrrrr.

4. I’m definitely interested in seeing what they do with gathering, farming, ect. Great way to add more stuff to do in and after runs.

5. This ties into 4 but, I love how there’s a bunch of stuff to do in Crossroads! In Hades 1, I never spent too much time in the house. I was always dashing through to do another run when not stopping to talk to people. The Crossroads is definitely a nice cool down area for after runs!

6. THE ART. Man everyone looks so good!!!! I can tell some of the sprites are still being worked on but everything still looks so damn clean. I love how everyone has backgrounds in their portraits!

7. APOLLO, HEPHAESTUS, HESTIA, SELENE. All of them look and sound so cool. Really looking forward to seeing their full boon lists and how they play with different weapons ect.

8. I’m really happy to see some of the OG gods returning. All of them look so sick and every time I see a boon from the first game I go “YOOOOOO”. Also Artemis physically appearing is sick as hell.

9. Really excited to get to know the new crew better! They’re all really compelling already!

10. The areas seem to be shorter. Like, I’m going through less rooms to hit the boss room. Idk if it’s bc it’s a tech test or if it’s intentional.

Speculation and questions

1. WHAT DID CHRONOS DO. ARE THEY DEAD? WHERE ARE THEY? Istg if Zag is dead I am going to c r y.

2. WHERE IS THAN, MEG, ACHILLES, NYX, EVERYONE FROM THE FIRST GAME? WHERE ARE THEY?

3. Hecate said something about Hermes trying to find a way to get from the underworld to Olympus. There was also some stairs going blocked by a ward in the weapon/training room. I wonder if there’s gonna be more areas to go through. Like. Erebus, Elysium, Asphodel, Tartarus, House, then Olympus? Maybe Olympus is gonna have its own areas completely. This would make sense for why the areas are shorter. Really interested to see what they do.

4. If the game looks like this already in its tech test stage….. this might be my game of the year if it gets a full release this year. (I love you P3RE but holy shit Hades 2).

Hi, me again. I'm just curious, when/why did you first get into Monkey King? I'd been aware of him for while (I kinda knew who he was, where he came from, that he inspired certain other characters like Goku in DBZ and Saiyuki and stuff) but only started learning more about him recently after I watched Monkey King: Hero is Back and fell in love. I watched an entire playthrough of Black Myth Wukong and, even though I had no idea what was happening storywise, absolutely loved every minute of it! Since then, I've gotten more familiar with the characters and story of Journey to the West, and devoured the three live-action movies, the Netflix movie, Monkey King: Reborn, New Gods: Nezha Reborn, and the Lego Monkie Kid series. I can't get enough of this guy! He's such a lovable little gremlin. I think my fav versions are Hero is Back Wukong and the Destined One.

I am so happy to get asks like this, thank you for fighting thru your shyness to send them!! Fair warning, I do get rambly (I'm an AuDHD writer, it's very hard for me to turn off my info dumping lolol) 

First off again, I really really do appreciate getting asks like this!! I put my writing and silly ideas up because I want to interact with other fans!! Sadly within the past few years interaction with fan works has depleted, and so it does make it a struggle to keep up with the creative process. (I've honestly been feeling like I'm speaking into the void sometimes when I post my Wukong stuff. The thing that keeps me going and writing is the few individuals who consistently interact with me with their own ideas and comments. Other people's ideas fuel my ideas, so if you or anyone else has a thought they want to share I will love to hear it and respond to it.) With that said, on to my past!!!

Now, I've always been a massive fan of mythology, and I hyperfixated on Greek myth for years (like, this year is my 16th anniversary kind of hyperfixation). And I always told myself that at some point I would branch off into other mythologies. 

I had always felt a connection with Daoism and Buddism because a lot of the philosophies made sense to me. I'm a zoologist, part of my job is teaching people at my city's science museum about nature and animals. A lot of Daoist philosophies are based on the ebb and flow of nature, but I just never found anything that actually hooked me to get me obsessed with it. It was more like a passing appreciation for what it represents and the ideals it holds. 

Now complete subject change, I love FromSoft souls games. Up until Wukong, I would write for other fandoms, and get a couple fics in before moving on (and even then it's not a lot. Wukong just…does something to my brain to get me writing) but I adore FromSoft games. I love the combat (I don't think I'm like���competitively good but I can beat the bosses and I have some decent skill) and I especially love the lore. Those games are so rich in lore, I adore it!! About gods and monsters and magic practices, all amazing! 

And back in February, a YouTuber I watch for mythology content did a whole video on Black Myth Wukong, explaining the lore of the different bosses. I was bored and hadn't heard anything about the game before, so I clicked it. 

I had my mind fucking blown.

That intro to the game? Sucked me in like nothing else. I didn't even get 5 minutes into the video before I was exiting out and looking up how much the game cost and everything I could to learn about it. 

Who was this sexy demon guy in gold armor flying on a cloud with this gorgeous music playing in the background? Holy shit this sexy demon guy is challenging a celestial army, he's so badass! Who is he!?!

I stayed up all night learning everything I could about Journey to the West. I bought the books that same night, I bought the game and started playing, I started looking up movies and shows, everything. 

And then it hit me, “oh wait, I know who the Monkey King is! I heard that name before!!” And I realized how many things this god had influenced! Characters from all different types of shows and movies and games, all with nods to this story!!

I think my first real moment of being aware of Wukong was actually from the game Persona 5, funny enough. I was never big on anime (believe me, I've tried. Never could get into it) but I did like the Persona 5 game, I liked the art style and story telling. Now for those who haven't played this game, there is a character named Ryuji, who is my fav character.

Ryuji is a brash ball of sunshine who's labeled as a delinquent and constantly looked down upon by the adults in his life because he tried to do the right thing and got fucked over by an adult who was supposed to help him, but instead abused him. He has a Persona (his personality/heart given magical form, essentially) that started out as a pirate based on Captain Kidd. When you level his friendship up enough, his Persona evolves into - you guessed it - Sun Wukong. A pretty funky looking design but I thought it was still fun and kooky and it was the Persona of my fav character from the game, so I was going to like it no matter what. That is technically my first introduction to Sun Wukong 🤣🤣🤣

Since I've gotten Black Myth Wukong and the OG Books, I've been devouring content for Wukong wherever I can get it. I haven't watched the live action movies yet, but I've been watching the 1986 show 💖💖 I want to watch Havoc on Heaven but haven't found a decent quality with Chinese VAs and English translations sadly…

But I've watched all the other animated movies I believe, and I haven't caught up on Lego Monkie Kid (I have…mixed opinions on it) but I just love Wukong in any form!! I have been asked before what my fav version is and I'm gonna give the same answer I did then, I like all of them for different reasons. They all have their charm and flaws and funny moments that make me fall in love with them 💖💖💖

I really really hope to see more of him in the future, especially Hero is Back!! Nezha and Nezha 2 are the highest grossing movies, could you imagine if the same director and writing team did another movie focusing on Dasheng!?! I would die!! Not to mention whispers of Black Myth dlc this year!!! I want all the content I can get on our beloved monkey husband, I love him so much 💖🐒💖🐒💖🐒

ANIMORPHS BOOK CLUUUB!

I've read the whole series, but it was a long time ago and my memory sucks, so there will be a lot of surprises along the way. I've tried rereading the series a few times recently, but my attention span also sucks and books have been challenging for me.

I'm not sure what I have to say about The Invasion. It's good? I like it?

It's so fucked up that Visser Three eats Elfangor, holy shit my parents wouldn't have let me read it if they knew. I told my dad relatively recently, and his O_O face was a wonder to behold.

But that's hardly saying anything new.

Unless you're reading this because you follow me, not because you're reading the Animorphs tags. If so, hi! There's an Animorphs Tumblr book club happening. The Invasion was published in June of 1996. I was… let me math this out… no, let me have a website math this for me…

I was twelve.

And this wasn't a "reading past my age level" situation, oh no. I was the target audience.

I love animals, so it's no wonder that Animorphs sucked me in. I also love body horror, so it's extra no wonder that Animorphs sucked me in. I also love stories that feature outsiders (Data, Odo, Tobias, Ax), and aggressive women (Ivanova, Rachel), so it's extra extra no wonder that Animorphs sucked me in. And I love scifi/fantasy so it's extra extra extra no wonder that Animorphs sucked me in.

Anyway, some scattered thoughts:

At the beginning, Jake says he won't tell us where he lives.

It's San Francisco.

The Invasion establishes that everyone lives close to a beach. Close enough that it's completely unremarkable for the Sharing to meet there, invite kids to meet there, and for kids to get there independently. Therefore, they live on a coast.

I worked out San Francisco from book fourteen, The Unknown. Short version, San Francisco's the closest coastal city to Area 51.

Side note: I've been there, I've frozen my ears off on the Golden Gate Bridge, why do I misspell it every fucking time?

Let's see, what else…

Early in the series, I don't much like Marco.

I like characters who jump into the plot the moment there's a plot to jump into. I don't like reluctant heroes.

C'mon, Marco. (C'mon, Mat Cauthorn.) This is happening. I know it's happening, because it's a book and you're clearly a main character. Stop cluttering the page with trying to make this not happen.

I do feel for him. He knows the risks, and what his death would do to his father.

It hits a bit differently now that I've been processing some stuff about my teenage years and my mother. Then again, this is You're A Kid, This Should Never Have Been Your Responsibility: The Series.

For most of my life, I thought Tobias got himself trapped as a hawk on purpose and lied about it to the other Animorphs. The way he talked about morphing made Jake worried that he was going to, so that's not unfounded.

Plus, I'd be tempted. I wouldn't do it, but I'd definitely think about it. Dogs get to be happy.

I'd also spend a lot of time morphing other humans, and fuck the ethics of it. In my daydreams, I blend the morphs together like Ax does later on, so I wouldn't be impersonating anyone. But even if I were impersonating someone, fuck it. Autism is genetic, and mine is disabling.

Anyway, I've since decided that even though it'd be very in character for Tobias to trap himself as a hawk on purpose, it would've come up in his POV books.

Rachel. Racheeel! My amazing Xena, my beautiful badass. She shines more later on than now, but it doesn't take long.

Cassieee! Animal girl, heart and conscience of the Animorphs. No cover in the series makes me Feel Things the way the butterfly does. Again, she'll shine more later on, but she has one of the most beautifully heartbreaking moments in The Invasion.

Koumei looks pretty cool. "Apply a lot of statuses alert" is neat enough & will probably be pretty strong but it doesn't blow my mind, I guess. The dice roll stuff & the "do a riven challenge with a debuff to get a Duviri decree" had my eyes bugging out of my head with excitement! I like her weird haunted skeleton puppet look, I like the visible strings. Brella gun looks Fucking AWESOME.

Caliban rework looks hunky and I'm eager to sink my teeth into him. I already thought he was Fine to play, so making him stronger & giving him a more interesting / more synergistic kit has me happy. I wanna get more of / mess more with the theorem kitgun arcanes & see if buffing the summons is Anything now that they're better across the board. The Hildryn changes are exciting too!! Her 4th ability is Very Cute and I'll gladly take any excuse to not subsume it off.

All of that said: most exciting parts of the update to me are the changes to pets (Holy shit I've been wanting separate slots for Dog Damage forever... Holy shit I can try using more than just the Verglas) & the Nova rework / deluxe skin. I'm a sucker for the flower motifs, and the big back bow ephemera is so cute... I have like 3 or 4 different builds I want to try out on her now. Having speed & slow be on a toggle now is going to feel so much better in Duviri, & the forced orb drops has me excited to try out some wackier stuff. Her damn Ball might actually be better now... I always try to force that ball to work but you had to build basically entirely around it to justify it. The weird build synergies Nova had in the past were interesting on paper but felt kinda frustratingly limiting whenever I tried to build her. Which made me sad! Because I love the idea of her kit! Now it feels like I have more wiggle room to try shit out & slot in more Toys, which is exciting... I'm thinking about all her moves doing Blast & eyeing the orange archon shards. LOL

If the Nova changes are their idea of a "light rework" I'm super stoked to see what they do to Nyx (another frame I like the idea of but wish they would make some adjustments for) and Trinity (I already love her kit, simple as it is) in the winter.

I'm excited that it's coming out so soon after I get home from my vacation, haha. I feel like every time I've flown out to see my wife they've put on an event or held a really valuable Twitch drop campaign on days where I'd be stuck in transit. Digital Extremes is apologizing to me personally with Koumei. Now I just need Nintendo to apologize for all the "Splatoon 3" events happening on those same days...

Ok so last night I had a dream about startrek, it started during amok time pretty much going the same way except, T'pring didn't do the challenge they got married.

Only remember bits and pieces during this point but Kirk is heartbroken, he's not letting Spock know (duh) which isn't a problem because Spock is oblivious about Kirk's feelings for him.

I forgot to mention that Spock does have feelings for him and didn't want to marry T'pring but he was convinced that Kirk doesn't love him,whilst also doing this whole "It's Vulcan way" so he decided to just do it.

Anyways he went through Pon Farr with T'pring and ended up getting her pregnant

This is another point where memory doesn't like me, but anyway they have a son (his name was changing like every half a second but ima call him Telek since that's one of the only ones I remember)

ANYWAYS this child just sorta exists in the back of Kirk's mind for like 2-3 years till T'pring's work (I forget what she does but it's like similar circumstances to her being on the enterprise in snw) lines up with the enterprise, and she brought Telek with her.

So they meet the kid

Kirk is trying so hard rn but it's like that's Spock's child with the wife he didn't know he had so he's struggling.

Mccoy likes the kid and is doing a way better job of being normal towards him and T'pring ( whilst also comforting Kirk which I thought was really cute )

Anyways another time jump

T'pring dies.

This isn't even that much later cause Telek looked like 4.

I have no idea how she dies but she did, Spock is hurt but not like extremely?

Like he did care about her but he never really loved her and when they spoke it was really just him asking about Telek.

Anyways Kirk is like kinda happy about this but also very mad that he is happy about this because Spock's wife died and that's horrible so he's like trying to comfort Spock but it's kinda awkward because Kirk hated T'pring and they both know he hates her.

Anyways Kirk is like well he's not married anymore maybe nows my chance and Mccoy is like "She just died dude at least give the guy some time to grieve "

So Kirk does but like only for a month or so

and he's back to trying to court Spock, but Spock is still oblivious and thinks Kirk is just still trying to comfort him so it's not working that well. At some point Kirk decides fuck it I'll just tell him.

So Kirk invites Spock over for chess and partway through like thier second game ( gotta give him some time to work up the nerve) Kirk blurts it out.

And like at first Spock doesn't react so Kirk's like freaking out like "omg I just ruined our entire friendship " " why did I say that" " holy shit he hates me now doesn't he?? " all the while Spock is like fucking buffering because the guy he's been in love with for years just admitted loving him since like the first day they met and like ????? Holy shit?????.

Anyways Kirk started like apologizing to Spock which kinda snaps him out of his little trance and Spock is now the one freaking out cause he took to long to answer so he kinda panics and just like

leans over the chess board and like fuckin kisses him.

Anyways they're together (they also find out they are T'hy'la and it's really sweet)

And at some point ( not that much later come on its Spock and Kirk and they've been in love for years ) they get married and it's very sweet and they are both Telek's dads now and stuff and Mccoy is doing his whole " took you two long enough Jesus " but he's secretly stoked and not hiding it well.

Um anyways this is about were I woke up.

Its the most coherent dream (am I saying that right? ) I've ever had

- His favorite flowers aren't a specific breed(???) but he likes to lean towards yellow ones. Dandelions count too.

- If you, as a player, are naturally soft spoken, have the same beliefs about peace and harmony, or you're just really nice to him and play along, Doki will grow attached and eventually try his best to persuade you to "join him". If the player chooses to accept his invitation, they will naturally die of a heart attack. Sadly, Doki has never figured out how to put the player's soul into his game successfully, he's tried so many times. He always cries when this happens.

- Doki keeps badniks in the game, but he replaces their weapons / drills or whatever with softer objects. For example, if it's that one ladybug badnik with the drill hands, he'd replace the drills with bouquets of flowers.

- Doki takes place in a rom hack of Sonic 2. <== I originally was gonna make it Sonic Rush Adventure, but then you'd have to use a DS? I grew up playing that lol

- Doki's Tails is going to be designed soon, but they're also someone who plays along with Doki. Tails originally disagreed with the idea of making the world "safer", but Doki brainwashed / manipulated him so much to the point where Tails is pretty much is held at gunpoint to play along. I'm thinking of naming him Flutter (haha, not intentional bc it's part of my name, it's bc he flies and that's what your heart does)

- Eggman isn't deleted exactly, he's just locked away in a hidden file. He does have a love themed design, he actually hates it and wished he can change it but he can't. He's not super evil like the normal Eggman, if anything he's probably the most mature and well out together person.

-If a character in the game is sceptical, they're banished. I would say he'd try to somehow brainwash them into understanding it, but if they continue to fight back, they become locked up like Eggman.

- oh yeah this takes place in 2016, where the majority of content is edgy or adult humor. (Pink guy, idubbz, MLG memes, etc).

- his player is a young adult named Tyler, he's not ... A great person. He actually was told to play the rom hack by his online group of friends. He gave the challenge to fuck around and try to mess with the coding as much as he can to try to change it back to the normal game.

- Doki later on in the game, because of Tyler not understanding his motives, Doki would brick his PC. Doki dislikes it when people try to alter his plans or act rude. Doki also hates violence towards others, and he rarely ever does anything like that, even to players. If Doki gets mad at you, the worse he can do is brick your PC, or lock out his game.

Mmm so far the face LMFAO. Ok tmi I was so so so obsessed with drawing the face i had a really bad psychosis episode about it (in hindsight it was kinda funny/joke). But oh lord dont follow my example it was horrible. There are videos about learning how to draw the face you can just research that.

I find the face really fun bc you can play around with the features and stuff. Super fun stuff.

Ok this isnt anti fancy brush propaganda OMG. I love my fancy brushes but theyre only for convenience. I love using them and ofc they very much are crucial for my works (they wouldnt look the same without them) — But i know i dont nessesarily NEED them. Thats the difference.

Also its fun to just use the basic brush! sometimes having too much options and brush choices kind of gets overwhelming and makes you lose focus on the things you need to pay attention on. Sometimes simpler is better haha.

If anything using a basic brush helped me learn alot too. Because of the heavy resctrictions i get to focus on things that would normally go over my head because of how

Ok ok this is a really instresting question bc im not gonna lie with you on this one even i fuck this one up even now.

This applies to proper pieces where im locked in but when i have an idea i kinda sketch out some drafts and stuff. Like really really rough. As rough as possible literally scribbles, when i start focusing on a specific part of the sketch at this stage ive already failed BAJDHA. Its kinda just tl get the feel of the piece and where everything is moving, sometimes i put golden ratio and rule of 3rd overlays to help with the flow but thats just me BAHSVS. Then once i kinda fw the vibe i start doing the cleaner sketch

BUT where the "i fuck this one alot" is because i dont follow thay rule. Like 80% of the time BAUXBSJDB this is also a NOTE TO SELF. cause HOLY SHIT.

Also last night I wanted to finish Rebirth main story (chapter 14)... and then sephiroth came with 10 phases... and I finally lost my patience and gave up on 3 hours of gameplay to free me from this torment... now one day I'll tackle it, really. But that very last phase with Aerith and Cloud ... I'm here for the main story and not try harding bosses 😭 playing on normal was a lovely experience, some fights were challenging in a fun way, while a few others actually made me question everything. I of course understand the impact od it all, Sephiroth is the strongest existing rhing in this world so yeah he's strong but after legitimately 2 hours of just fighting I was drained... yeah. Still gonna make a post about ch13 and of what I playesdin ch14. I must have gotten really close to the actual end, which sucks even more, but I'm just a normal human, it was getting late, I had work that day and the next one after...

For now I have catch up on genshin and hsr because both games are getting new content soon and I wanna complete the current maps before new stuff comes out.

Maybe for Rebirth this is also a noce opportunity to actually go back and complete all content I had left... side quests and battle intel I missed. Get Thorin. Play the mini games. Then go back to the end. Will probably do that. Also will 100% replay Crisis Core and Remake some time this year.

I also listened to 12/16 tracks of TTPD before work this morning. Like the sound and overall vibe of the album. Favorite track so far is probably Florida with Florence. Has to stop doing my make up while listening to the song. Then I went on instagram and saw she announced The Anthropology. Holy shit can't wait to get home to listen to the rest of the tracks.

Also I am a whopping 2 chapters into the sunshine court. It should be a breeze to get through once I have my days off, but I can't hold back from reading a few bits every now and then. I'm not the biggest fan of reading things digitally though, so I hope we can get physical copies of the book soon too :)

Raw 9/5/22 Edge starts off with a promo and his is pissed at Dom and Rey tries to calm him down. Rhea finally has her updated theme with the singer. And she comes out with Dom. Dom does not look comfortable yet. Lol I love the Eddie’s son chants. Dom is mean mugging this whole time lol. 

Rey has a backstage interview where he says he’ll never put his hands on Dom and that one didn’t quite age so well. Rey also challenges Damian or Finn. 

Rey vs. Damian(w). Damian big boots the shit out of Rey lol. Obviously when Rey starts taking control Judgment Day comes out and Finn is wearing the bandana here lol. Lots and lots of panning to Dom. HOLY SHIT THAT CLOTHESLINE FROM DAMIAN WAS WICKED. Damian wins partially because of Dom. Rhea cuts a post match promo and she is so papi. 

Raw 9/12/22 Ok the show starts with Seth Rollins with a promo and riddle attacks him before he has a match with TJD. And heel seth clears face seth easily. Shot game take a shot every time they say bro in this promo.

Riddle vs. Finn(w). Why did people even like that fucker Matt? Damian interfers and distracts riddle and balor takes advantage. Riddle screaming “my neck!” is giving “MY HOLE!”. Rey attacks Damian giving Riddle a chance to win but then seth distracts Riddle and Balor takes advantage and wins.

Dom cuts that promo you know the one. Fuck rhea… she makes me…

Rey confronts Dom backstage, Dom just ignores Rey the whole time. 

Rey confronts Edge but Edge is not having Rey’s shit right now lmao. 

Edge(W) vs. Dom. More of a beat down than a match in the early goings but because of Rhea Dom takes advantage. Rey interferes he doesn’t want Edge to hurt Dom. Edge wins via dq because Finn attacks him. Then dom beats the fuck out of edges leg. 

Raw 9/19/22 Rey has a backstage interview, and Rey is like ‘pwease come back to me dom but the others are dickbags’ and then riddle shows up and is like ‘bro lets tag together bro… bro bro weed bro i beat my wife and kids.” 

Judgment day come out together and I think I have the same harness as rhea is wearing here. Pre-match promo from the Judgment Day, Damian has an evil ass laugh. Dom is already being booed by the crowd here. They take that cute ass ‘family photo’ I love them. This great moment is interrupted by ‘Mr. ThisGuyTouchedMeInTheAirport’ Matt Riddle. 

Riddle + Rey vs. Finn + Damian(w). Why was Riddle over? Rhea screams lol. RHEA HURTS A MAN! Rhea suplexes riddle. TJD wins off of an interference from seth rollins and a distraction from Dom. 

Raw 9/26/22. I’m starting with a rey interview backstage where he talks about Dominik, and it’s all him saying he loves him and stuff lmao.

The Judgment day has an interview backstage where Finn mentions he wants AJ in the Judgment Day. Also Damian just roasts the fuck out of Matt Riddle the whole time then evil laughs.

Sami and AJ Styles have a match against eachother where sami wins and after Judgment day comes out to talk to him but I can’t help but laugh that Dom gets scared by the pyro here. Finn tries to recruit AJ with a ‘too sweet’ AJ flips him off and damian has the reaction image of all time. TJD start beating AJ a ton but then spares him from the chair. 

Priest vs. Riddle(w). Damian lookin fine here ngl. As much as I hate Riddle him and Damian have a fuck ton of chemistry in the ring. That also means they’ll fuck eachother up. Love matches like this. STOP GIVING ME SO MANY CLOSE UPS I’LL GO FERAL! Lots of kickouts. Riddle wins via rollup on Damian. After the match TJD beats up riddle but then Edge saves riddle and then turns into william afton I guess. Edge challenges Finn to an I quit match. 

Raw 10/3/22. MY HOMETOWN!!! Judgment day starts off raw. Dom Dom finally seems more comfy with Rhea and TJD. The Judgment Day cut a little pre-match promo. Rhea really wore a suit in my hometown and I wasn’t there damn. LOL I love dom dom so much. During this promo Finn fucks up and he says “I was so mad I accidentally said last night.” Aj interrupts TJD.

Styles + Mysterio vs Finn + Damian(w). The match starts off with a brawl. Damian takes a nut shot but the ref doesn’t do anything, FIRE THE CORRUPT ANTI-TJD REFS! Rhea pulls Rey off the apron lol. Dom distracts Rey and then Rhea flattens him and now Rey is out of the match and Finn stomps AJ to win. After the match AJ gets mad at Rey and pushes him. And after that TJD attacks AJ. Edge has a little promo where he tries to be ‘real’ or whatever and he says he won’t quit.

Extreme Rules 10/8/22. Only one Judgment day match makes me sad.

Balor(w) vs Edge. (I quit match) The crowd is pretty dead for this match. Finn pulls edge into the apron and it's kinda funny I won't lie. So Finn has edge by the commentary table and there’s this guy screaming ‘you suck’ at Finn and then Finn slams edges head into the table over and over and after every time he does that the guy yells ‘you still suck!’. They fight in the crowd for a bit. Rhea handcuffs edge to the top rope lol. Rey comes to save Edge. Rey gets fucked up by Dom lol. Beth comes out to save edge and she has a kendo stick and Rhea gets in the ring with Beth and the crowd goes nuts. Poor Dom takes a nut shot from Edge. Mami knocks out Beth with brass knucks and then Priest chokeslams Edge which allows Finn to stomp on Edge 3 times. But Edge doesn’t say I quit. Rhea threatens to conchairto Beth and this finally makes edge say I quit but Rhea hits Beth with the chair anyways.

now I'VE FINISHED outer wilds 🙏

I've loved it. I really like exploring games but I get lost a lot and spend too many time at one place etc so I found outer wilds perfect for me in this aspect, because I can explore and discover interesting things while having some limits and being very well guided. The way the info I discover is presented to me at the ship makes everything reasonably easy to process and understand. Many people I know struggled with controls (specially at zero gravity) but I got it quickly so perfect... no problem at all.

The DLC though, despite being perfectly fit at the game itself, felt like playing a different game tbh It's a lot harder (to play and to understand / know what to do) and the vibe is very different, but I liked it a lot too. But it was very challenging...

The story is very cool, I enjoyed every detail, everything is a big puzzle that fits perfectly. I fell in love with every creature there, really, everybody is so cute (except the strangers... holy shit they are so scary... at least the prisioner was nice) 🥺 So for me the end felt pretty sad. I've talked to some friends about it, and I understand that it's not exactly sad. It's a bit hard to process but life ends so it can start again and everybody accepts it and it's for the best etccc so it should feel even happy, and I get it, but aaaah for me personally was hard. Just seeing all the nomai skeletons after reading so many things about them was very sad during the game. I feel so bad for them because after everything they've done... they all die 😭 they never get to know the truth they were chasing so hard 🥺 same for the hearthians but I kinda feel worse about the nomai xD Anyway I'm beating around the bush xD TO SUM UP: I understand the good things this game wants to tell but my depressed ass just feels sad and empty because it's very hard for me to have hope and see the value of small things and the worth of life ahh but despite making me sad I still love the game!!!!

my bf has been a huge outer wilds fan for a long time and we knew that I was gonna like the game so I played with him watching (but silent...) and he could re-live the experience through mine, that made me more happy! so that's it, I just wanted to talk a bit about the game, just my personal opinion and experience!

So I've finished Outer Wilds. That means that I'm going back to do other stuff at my free time, including spending more time here. I'd like to work a bit more at my music so maybe I'll be still not very much around but who knows... :)

Some thoughts about TTRPGs, and the ubiquity of DnD.

As someone who does not *love* DnD… it is still the only game I’ve tried with that particular vibe. And I don’t mean “medieval fantasy”.

I mean, an achievement fantasy underscored by mechanics built around an individual success-and-improvement narrative, with a large social component. (You win as a team, but you improve and grow as individual characters.)

This is mechanical, independent of what your DM may or may not put in the game.

Let me list it out.

DnD has no standard mechanics for detriments.

As much as there are possibilities for certain monsters and afflictions to permanently harm or alter a character against the player’s will, a DM has to actively choose to put those in their game, and even then there are typically ways to heal or fix them. In a typical game, there are no permanent, mechanically enforced negatives for your dude; no lingering injuries, no madness, no disabilities, etc.

Recovery mechanics are also simple and accessible (looking at you, Long Rest) and resources are not really set up to be scarce and/or a slog to track and ration.

(Mind you: I’m talking about mechanics that impose a permanent debuff or handicap on your character against your will as a feature of the game, not about playing a disabled character as your own choice.)

Simple, straightforward ability growth as a central mechanic.

DnD is almost entirely designed around characters becoming cooler and stronger over time. This ability growth is straightforward: no complicated skill tree system where you can get screwed over by your own suboptimal choices.

There is also no standard mechanic to lose abilities you’ve gained, nor is your degree of improvement every level left to chance. (The closest DnD comes to a chance mechanic in this area is rolling for HP, and even that’ll let you take average if you roll below). The game is set up to reward your character with ability growth just for continuing to play it.

Success narrative dominates.

The primary completion path in all DnD modules is “the characters win the day”. That’s what the game is about. And as much as some modules may try to subvert that with little bits of flavour text here and there, they’re doing so for show. The very manner a DM has to set up sessions is all about making the challenges appropriately levelled for the players to overcome. If you’re playing, you’re *supposed* to overcome the challenge. A game where everyone dies is not considered expected or desirable. And while a creative DM may occasionally set up an encounter the characters are expected to flee from… if it’s not telegraphed properly, the odds are they WILL die. Because the game is not set up for players to expect unbeatable challenges.

Significant character agency where it matters.

Agency is about more than just being able to make choices in-game. In DnD, you have the ability to make choices that feel situationally impactful. You’ll rarely have a situation where you consistently do everything “right”, roll well, and yet the enemy is entirely unaffected. Your abilities aren’t vague in power level or usefulness -even if you aren’t a particularly creative player, the stuff that’s on your character sheet that you can do is going to be at least moderately useful in most situations a typical game throws at you, even if applied with little finesse.

Like I said, I don’t *love* DnD. I’m not super sold on medieval fantasy to begin with, I’m pretty bad at basic number math (I have dyscalculia so this shit is hard for me), and I like supporting indie and less popular titles on principle.

But holy shit.

Can somebody tell TTRPG designers to please make a game that just lets me be cool and win at something?

I want to play a badass vampire! But in Vampire: The Masquerade, that’s kinda… Not Great. I want to be a faux-Victorian era paranormal investigator! But, ehm, Call of Cthulhu? Having my character die or go insane kinda sucks. I like scifi! But everything from Cyberpunk RED to the various iterations of Warhammer 40k RPG is bleak as fuck.

Mörk Borg? Dark and bleak. Candela Obscura? Dark and bleak. The Laundry? Dark and bleak.

(I’m not counting Pathfinder, as it’s basically just DnD with more math and a less straightforward character builder.)

I know I’m only scratching the very top surface of less ubiquitous TTRPGs here, but still. All these relatively well known and oft recommended titles completely fail to capture what makes DnD appealing to me -and I suspect, to many others.

In TTRPG spaces I often see people ask “Why modify and reskin DnD to be (insert aesthetic) if you can play (game designed in that aesthetic)?” And my answer is always the same. Because I want to have the DnD-style success experience, only with (cool aesthetic thing).

I want to play other games! I’m not hung up on medieval fantasy or the d20 system or spell slots or anything! I just… don’t want to play some bottom-feeding cannon fodder character in a Misery Simulator, engage with complex ethics as a game mechanic, run a one-person accountancy department to keep track of tons of scarce resources, have the other players as my de-facto opponents, be faced with challenges my character can’t do anything to overcome, invest hours into building a dude who gets offed in the first encounter, put my time in a game that progressively stacks detriments onto my character to shrink their success chances while the stakes keeps growing, etcetera etcetera.

Just, none of that edgy shit. Life’s plenty edgy already, I just want some easy escapism.

Anyway.

If anyone has recommendations for a TTRPG that sort of matches my list of requirements… I’m all ears. I like most stuff aesthetically tho I’m not super into either pirates or contemporary military as a theme. I also prefer games that don’t employ a gimmick (like jenga blocks, an hourglass, burning candles, etc).

I'm taking a hiatus from doing Pokemon comic stuff! ArtFight is also in play right now, so half my art spoons for the rest of July/early August are going to making art of cool characters. Additionally, my attention shifted back to Among Us, and with the amount of asks I've received for my precious Cyan bean (seriously holy cow!!), it will likely be there for a while c||

Longer, less kind and more emotionally blunt answer?

I lost a good amount of my motivation to do it, in no small part because it felt like- for lack of a better word- nobody really gave a shit? There's lots of Mewtwo and Mewtwo-related fusion blogs going around, so I think my stuff got lost in the fog. I know, I know, 'two cakes' and all that; but when you bring a cake to a party, and it feels like everybody else has someone enjoying their cake while yours gets ignored on the table, it sucks. That's not to say I'm entitled to people giving my blog any attention; hell, I jump hyperfixations all the time! And all those blogs are fantastic, I follow several and continue to enjoy the journey they've taken! They deserve every bit of credit to contributing a huge following and love for Pokemon and Mewtwo on Tumblr, it's a wonderful thing they're all doing. But to pour a substantial amount of time and effort into my own pieces over weeks and months, pushing myself to try and make full comic pages with backgrounds and challenging angles so I could improve... to be met with crickets? It really sucks, and takes an ice cream scoop out of your motivation every time someone passes it by. It feels like yelling into an open canyon, and hoping there's hikers down below who will yell something back to you. I just got unlucky, and haven't had any hikers in the canyon pass by. There's only so many times you can scream into the void and get silence before your voice grows hoarse and you stop trying.

I got more follower engagement telling funny stories with my Among Us bean in the first week than I did for the first month of making Pokemon comics. So, my spoons are going there for now- I'm simply enjoying it more right now!

I still have a story I badly want to tell, but I have to think about my own emotional wellbeing and ration my spoons promptly. I do still work a full-time STEM job, so priority must be given to work, but my art priorities on the side have temporarily shifted. Rest assured, I do plan to return to the comic I started one day- just not now c:>
