so my thoughts on obey me as someone whos completed both games and played for maybe 4 years

Things I liked:

I always enjoyed that every character is unique in personality and design and that everyone is datable so there Arnt any routes. I loved seasons 1-3 of the og game, I always look fondly on season 3 though because of how it took place in the human world, was more domestic and we got nice lore drops that didn't feel shoved in. I liked the stakes of season 1 and 2 so but id have to say season 2 is my second favorite because of how it expanded more on the first season. I do wish there was a little more worldbuilding and consistency, but I'm not too pressed about it since it does leave things open ended enough for the fandom to exist creatively in.

Season 2 of nightbringer was also good up until the end, which is where my grievances start appearing.

Things I didnt like

There was a LOT retconning in Nightbringer, which made things so confusing that I just disregard most of it as non-canon if they dont fit with what I had imagined in the first game. My two biggest peeves though are

1.) The focus on forgiving the celestial realm/ their father).

-It felt really weird how hard they were pushing the idea that the celestial realm wasn't that bad and disregarding how oppressive it was and how their father literally tried to execute their sister. I understand missing the realm (it was their home after all) and any angel living there being good people, but I'm definitely not okay with forgiving their father (god?). That guy is abusive asf, if there was ever a villain of the story, it has always been that guy. I wish I could have seen more of the characters talk about their familial (religious) trauma and not exclusively Lucifer or Simeon (which was already rare enough and the retconned at the very end).

2.) The lack of a overall plot.

-We started the story with the goal of being the one to master them all, as well as achieving Diavolo's goal of bringing peace to the 3 realms. Problem is that we never got there. The celstial realm is still oppressed, I dont even think the majority of the human world knows demon and angels exist, nor do anyone who knows seems very interested in peace. Diavolo is still the crown prince (which is fine I guess) and we never got to meet Michael. Luke still dosent seem to understand the prejudices of the Celestial Realm and we still dont know much about Solomons past, eg: who was his first aprentice, how did he meet Barb, how did he fight all of the Devildom, what was his time like as king, his family.

We never actually made any big changes, and now the games over.

Miscellaneous thoughts I have:

Don't like the same gag being used excessively for the same characters

I wish I could have seen Satans birthmark :/ its on his back

I would have liked to know more about what happened during the war, but it probably might have been too drab for the game

I think Simeons arc of not being an angel should have just left him a human

The sibling interactions in the game are hilarious

Wish there were more characters, even briefly, the cast feels a little lonely :(

Now I too love the characters I have such a soft spot for them all especially since I found the game right when covid happened and I had to be inside all the time so the game is such a comfort thing for me. I love the designs but Satan's sweater is fucking annoying ngl but other than that no complaints! I also loved that Obey me! allowed us to date everyone but I remembered people being upset about there being no routes so I'll probably have a lot of routes so people can just pick, "do I want a harem?" "Do I wanna only be with 1,2,3,4,5,7 of them?" Ya get the point!

I truthfully haven't moved past season 3 so everything I know about both that and Nightbringer is from media or my friends but I do in fact also love 2 and parts of season 3 I feel like they were just so cute cause everyone was still figuring out their feelings and it gave us more info on how everything was going on after we left and stuff and season 3 is so domestic in the human world (also how did they get a place like I know they are the top 1% in the Devildom and it's said they can persuade humans, ➖ Mc, sorcerers and witches. But like come seriously?! How!?) I love seeing them all interact cause it's so cute and funny.

I agree the world building definitely needs to be expanded on and more fleshed out we only go to a few different places and when we do it's like we were the only people there lol, no I interactions with anyone outside the cast fr.

Again I haven't played Nightbringer I will now that I plan on writing but Irdgaf in the beginning cause everyone was like "ehhhh" "why's there need to be another game??" "Tf?" So I decided to just kinda ignore it especially since people said they didn't really like it and as you said didn't agree with where it was going so I'll talk more on that when I subject myself to that.

They literally were exiled from their home and were forced to become a whole other species and they lost their wings/had their wings changed completely. Lucifer gave fucking birth from his back apparently which is how we get Satan and Satan is obviously wearing Lucifer's 2 lost wings and I mean imagine your so fucking pissed you have a god damn child from your anger. Like apagejsjakaopahaiqkqh. Their status in heaven? Gone. Family? Besides each other, Gone. Lilith? Dead. Their home? Not their home anymore. Anyone else they love, who fr weren't a real one low-key. (Kinda looking at Simeon but it's obvious he regrets it so I'm blinking slowly) BUT Raphael? Michael? Actually I don't think Michael is god. God is god. Michael is a seraphim. So they are the children of God or Seraphim? Either way, BULLSHIT! everyone turned their backs on them. And that war I think it's a testament to how strong they are cause they went against ALL of heaven and still held their own granted they lost but they were against ALL of heaven and I think they only really lost cause of Lilith being hit by an arrow and Lucifer giving birth. (Still can't get over that). And I mean they got punished from heaven to hell, literally. So they are still being punished? Does Michael wanna be forgiven or not? Bitch ass fr. NO SYMPATHY.

I will come back to this but the Brothers definitely have religious trauma and I think that Simone started realizing that right before the war was happening when he had to fight Lucifer and saw he was on opposite sides of the battle filed and it's obvious he regrets it and wishes he fought on their side. I think it's a tell tale with how Luke acts and angles are told that God is great and Michael is great and everything they do is right. I mean look at how Luke admires- no, idolizes Michael. I think whenever he brings up Michael the brothers get really quiet and just nod along to just get him to shut up. I think there is super manipulation going on in heaven and only the higher angles, archangel and seraphim are aware of what is going on but not ALWAYS aware which is how Simone got started to officially realize just how wrong Michael's mindset is and started to oppose it silently and when he started getting louder and started falling for Mc this God and Michael got mad (idk fr its a thought tho). But I don't think heaven is it fr.

Now on the lack of plot everything did feel everywhere some times like some things we're just happening just cause and I feel like Dia's dream was kinda side tracked and after Mc got pacts things were just kinda happening lol. Ngl I think Michael's bitch. Not sure if y'all could tell but yeah. Still I'd like to know more about him too. Now Solomon the shady sorcerer we know and love. Now I heard some people say that they think he was Lilith's lover, the one who she and is the whole reason the war happened, fell in love with and tried to save with a potion which is why Solomon has lived so long. But I'm not too sure about that cause other sorcerers and witches also live super long probably because they are more than likely taking potions or casting spells and he'd probably do that too cause he's one of the great sorcerers and I think it was said that it was another guy Lilith was with but I don't remember. Also irrelevant but, It's said that man got like 300 wives or some shit so he's a whor- Truthfully, I need to think about him a bit more cause I feel like I could say anything about him for real cause that mf is SHADY! lol but I think Asmo would be a bit easy for him to get a pact with since, well, he's Asmo, and I mean look at their relationship. but Asmo did also give the Mc a hard time when they were trying to get his pact so idk. BUT what I wanna know is how that mf got Barbatos to get in a pact with him CAUSE I KNOW THAT MF HATE THAT SHADY OLD MAN I SWEAR- but it's obvious Babs has some sort of animosity towards Sol so I don't know what to think about that.

When Satan came out of Lucifer he took 2 of his wings with him. Satan has a birth mark on his back in the exact same spot Lucifer lost his wings and both the scar on Lucifer's back and Satan's birthmark look exactly the same.

Ngl I'mma flesh out that whole war and all those bitch ass angles fr. With all their eyes and shit and apparently can't see the BS right in front of em. ALSO there has been so many games/shows where angles are these fuckass manipulative oppressive hypocritical beings who are like kinda crazy and they throw a lot of religious trauma in there fr and I'm not mad at it. Also I think angle's true forms are ugly/scary (I don't know the feeling honestly) . Like uglier/scarier than the demon's true forms. Maybe that's just me. I don't know.

Simone....I'm not sure if I wanted him to be a human or demon but I definitely don't think he should have gone back to being an angel. There was no point in that and it could have helped emphasize how he loved the brothers and wanted to be with his brothers and he should have been in the first place on their side. It could have shown how he was learning just how wrong the war even happening in the first place was. Him going back to being an angel just, like for me at least, completely ruins that while plotline. It's stupid. I'm not sure which is better for him to be, demon or human, but he won't end an Angle that's for sure.

Yes as I said too lonely definitely needs more characters and will happily add them and will take any requests or oc's or anything. The mc is amazing lol

did he at all abstain from seeking courtesans or did the marriage not get in the way of his previous life style? did he care that she was fed up and wanted to leave him (had anyone ever left him before?) and no longer worship the grounds he walked on (has that ever happened before?)

did he feel hurt? offended? did he care at all that a posession of his demanded freedom? was he upset? amused? did they talk about it? if he were to reconcile would she accept of her own will or be coerced? by him or herself regardless. did he humor her? did he laugh?

i know its not the greatest to listen to en dub on first watch of something considering captions where are you who are you wtf is your name what is going on what did you say?? but in the end its really just a preference thing. like idk i struggle with telling what people are saying without captions but im sure some people are better at hearing. its just uh i dont really think that'll help when they burst into an entirely different language 💀

@pansear-doodles made a contest some time ago and since its over now i wanted to post my submissions and talk a lil abt them

Artificer

This is a costume of arti as Artemis from Hades. I love goddess Artemis and i thought it fitted arti pretty well, as well as hunter tho i had a different idea for them. I wanted to experiment a bit with maybe just being inspired by the Hades version, with some sort of creature bone/skull mask/helmet, as well as adding a bit more flare. I love Hades god designs, but Artemis was always my least fave ngl. tho i wasn't able to experiment much and stuck around to the Hades version due to time and not having many good ideas.

Im so glad the Once-ler Enot got through and the other shown costume ideas i love em so much. I love joke characters, but i'm clearly isn't the best at designing them heh. This is gamer Enot with all the cringe gamer merch, dressed up as their computer having an LED gamer keyboard and mouse. Maybe now looking at it i should have added maybe some consol (tho they struck me as a religious pc gamer) or some LOL or other popular game merch to sell the gamer look. Maybe also add some doritos and mountain dew.

I for the longest time could not decide, if i wanted to put gourm as dt asgore or ut asgore. Because it had to be asgore no questions asked, i mean look at the guy! I choose ut cause the way asgore is treated in dt just kill me internally. Also ut asgore family is much more functional. For the pups I wanted them to look like they’ve been face painted. Idk if chara and asriel really work for their personality, but i didnt really have any other idea with them. Also the one as asriel could’ve brought those like galaxy swords and some cool stuff from asriel dreemurr fight.

Also i wanted the drawing to resemble those monarch painted family portraits, so that’s why this style.

I didnt have any good ideas for hunter, until i was scrolling through my reblogs and saw puss in boots the last wish fanart. It worked so well with the hunter's personality i had to!

I had i lil moment wondering between srs and nsh and leshy and magnificus, but it was quickly resolved by pushing nsh into a bush. and 5p as po3 and lttm as grimora was a no brainer.

Monk and the lizards

Monk was always supposed to be a pokemon trainer. It works so well with them. At first i thought to give them Reds outfit, but then i decided to make them an N, a character from Black and White. His closeness and kindness to his pokemon, tie well with monk and their lizards.

Lizards are painted as spindas. i thought abt giving each individual pokemon, but i also wanted to make it quick and easy for the comics, so spindas! infinite patterns for an infinite amount of friends.

Okay so this reference is like really obscure. It's the main characters from the movie Mune: guardian of the moon. I think i watched it only one time, long ago, i think the plot is really basic, but the lore and the art from it is great. it's one of those: if it was 2d it would’ve been so beautiful.

Anyway i wanted to do a lil swap: survivor is mune and nightcat is glim, cause it worked better personality wise.

Big big thanks to @kociamieta, because i really could decide where i wanted to go with this. I had an idea for a shark hoodie, undyne, a sci fi speedster and perry the platypus. (if it comes up that someone submitted perry the platypus costume and it didnt go through, idk what i will do) So they were like: why not combine the shark hoodie and a sci fi speedster and jaga u are a genius. im not too proud of this one, the colors could be a lil better and the suit needs some work, but it was the last day of the competition and didn't have that much time.

Saint as snufkins, very original (i wanted for the Jessica Rabbit costume to win). i don’t have much to say here other then my 10000 environment brushes as always carry the piece

Very basic, jack sparrow inspired scav king costume, inspired by the helm comic part.

Spearmaster

My personal proudest one. A simple spray painter, but i put much care into this one. Now looking at it, I should rethink some colors, but i still like it. The spray cans could’ve been swapped out for needles (optional, not a correct). The tail is a paint brush with a swirl that isn't very visible in the colored piece.

Hollow knight gang! I think quirrel works well with wanderer. I mean the name, the character, the mission. They work well, I think.

Ended up fully fleshing out The 10 sonadow kids and the espilver and Blazamy kids:

Starting with the BABIESSS we've got the triplets with Pickels the Fossa, Snowy the Kinkajou and PaintBrush (P.B for short) the coatimundi (P.B's entire name is literally Paint Brush, but i just added the extra title so we know what he.. IS.)

Pickles and Snowy are "twins" in the way that they look similar but very much are not related.

They were all found at the same time (kittens in a box sort of deal)

Trixie was found a couple of years after Alberto but i just havent made an actual adult form of her yet- bur she was adopted at age 3.

My girl watched the pony show and yall should KNOW whos her favorite character

WATTZ my little adorable one- really wants to be cool like Sonic and Shadow but the heart is so big and pure its hard to look stoic and cold when you've got the sweetest little golden heart in the world

And Banjo (who i originally named Bongos bur decided to change it) who is the akward teenager that likes his alone time and music. Not nuch to be said here other than there is never a time where i shall pass up the opportunity to turn this guy into a little pangolin ball with his dads.

You can tell my favorite characters have got to be Luca. She was the first and shes a wrestler (luchador anyone?) Shes the big relaiable sister who will infact pummel you, and i love that.

Might need to work on Summer and Albetro but otherwise these are what i call the "guineapig group" in the sense that they were the first, thus the eldest out of all the kiddos. I dont have kid forms for them but the stuff her is simple- took after the other parent too much, with Luca be dabsmack in the middle of influence. They all have their own quirks and likings but overrall i love the "how many idiots does it take to fix a lightbulb" and the awnser is none because Luca broke it and then bought a new one.

Oh yeah and Greybelle's a crybaby did i mention that? Hes also a late bloomer when it comes to his powers (mostly bcs i dont know what powers to give him yet)

Okayy and for the OTHER ship babies:

I find Greybelle's (should i name him Turnip or like idk some cute plant name or just keep the watermelon name?) And Flares dynamic hilarious because its literally the direct opposite of Silver's and Blaze's dynamic in which these two fucking HATE eachother. Childhood freinds? More childhood enemies.

Flare has her powers early because shes just like that. She looks calm and collected like Blaze (but she seriously has the temper equivalent to a matchstick in a pit of gasoline- which means shes also a rage quitter)

Oh and more baby time with the unnamed baby because i cant think of a name

(someone help me please other wise im gonna name it something stupid like "slippers/chinelas/zapatos", "borzoi" or like.. idk just "BABY")

More comics stuff with THE BABY and like a poster of Trixies magic show (its her all grown up 😊) as well as Sonic teaching Banjo how to play guitar for the first time (the first step towards his long journey of become a musician 😊)

- but over the months i had a better idea of Findis, mostly thanks to @dialux 's AMAZING findis character study on ao3 !!! definitely read it if you havent already bc her findis is just,,, SO well written hhHHhh 💓 ngl she's practically my canon findis by now!

- so!! the parts abt feanor and findis' relationship, and findis' singing, and short-haired findis are all inspired and pulled from her fic (and she tackles it way WAY better than i could ever so AGAIN i would highly recommend reading it 🥰)

- admittedly from there i did end up diverging a little down my own path of hcs (e.g the songstress bit) so Dia i hope u dont mind !! 🙏

- i kind of played by ear with Lalwen, and so she just came to me as I was sketching... there were some other hcs i have of her that i physically cannot draw (such as her being a skilled equestrian) but tl;dr all u gotta know is that under her skirt she's wearing breeches and tall riding boots

- i wanted to give her a messier fringe, but in the end she's become my 13795th elf who has a middle parting :'D (is this a curse of morgoth's? somewhere out there the discord peeps are sighing in disapproval BAHAHA)

The way that Marc just straight up willingly dropped his chance of eternal paradise knowing that he'd have to continue fighting and would have to be Khonshu's fist again the moment he wakes from death because he was dead set on getting back to Steven

He really said "GIVE ME MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT NERDY DISASTER BACK OR GIVE ME DEATH LIFE"

His speech to Steven when he was talking to him about how much Steven meant to him and how he saved his life and gave him a reason to keep living is just 👌✨ MMM GOOD SHIT

STEVEN IMMEDIATELY BEING LIKE "YOU DUMMY WHY'D YOU LEAVE ETERNAL PARADISE?? FOR ME???"

(notice how Steven and Khonshu only specified that they were talking about Steven and Marc being freed from Khonshu's servitude only tho💀 I know damn well that Khonshu knew about Jake and was oy agreeing to Stevens demands because he had that option)

Arthur was fr getting the shit beaten out of him it was hilarious I loved it😭 HE SAID SOME FUCKED UP SHIT THO😒

And I'm a little sceptical about Marc and Steven (AND LAYLA SHE SAW IT TOO???) just letting Marc clearly "blackout" and kill a bunch of people in defense when they all know it wasn't him or Steven💀

I guess they were busy/tired/in a hurry but still💀 they didn't even question it at all when they got back to their apartment??

Steven and Marc easily fronting with eachother and basically constantly co-fronting together is WONDERFUL and reminds me a little of the comics in that aspect! Even though Steven wasn't involved with the moon knight side of things in them😭

I know a lot of people were bashing on the fact that Khonshu was able to get big WITHOUT eating souls and stuff but like,,, it was night time and the moon was out🧍 that's explanation enough for me tbh💀

I LOVE LAYLAS OUTFIT, LOTS OF PEOPLE DONT BUT I DO😭 I admit they could have done more but I like the simplicity of it and just the overall design, I'm glad they didn't try to make a copy of the moon knight costume but also they definitely could have given her more armor😭 (LOVE THE WINGS SO MUCH THO)

Okay obviously I love Jake all of you know this by now but,, and HERE ME OUT OKAY DON'T JUST HEAD STRAIGHT TO THE COMMENTS TO CUSS ME OUT OR SOMETHING-

I don't really like how he was introduced.

Like the way he's introduced us just gonna keep those "Jake is the evil alter" people going and it's kinda frustrating

I guess it's understandable that we don't for sure know WHY Jake chose to continue to serve Khonshu (obviously I already stated my theories on that above) but would it really have killed them to maybe explain just a tiny bit😭

It was post credit and I get that completely! But when it comes to this situation where we already have negative and harmful stereotypes being placed on Jake from people misinforming/misinterpreting Jake personality even in the comics we get posts like "Marc Spector's evil alter??" Or other shit like that

Jake isn't evil and he sure as hell isn't some "villainous" alter trying to ruin Steven and Marc's lives (it seriously wouldn't kill some people to just listen to people who have DID on what is actually correct/respectful for once)

Jake is a protector through and through, he wouldn't put them in danger and he sure as hell isn't staying with Khonshu because he's some sort of killing machine that only wants to kill/beat the shit out of people

I need some of these people to actually read one of the comics instead of listening to news outlets who only talk about moon knight because it's popular rn💀,, like come on y'all I'm not even an old fan but I still know that some of the shit y'all say/do is unexcusable

I'm also very sad about his lack of mustache 😭 like Disney,, EVEN IN THE COMICS HE HAD A FAKE MUSTACHE HOW HARD WOULD IT BE TO BUY ONE FOR OSCAR💀 it wouldn't even have to look realistic

I think for season 2 we'll get more Steven and Marc bonding interacting and then them finally integrating Jake into their little bubble while possibly figuring out something with Khonshu?

Also bushman, I definitely think Bushman is gonna be there and we'll get Layla meeting (and beating the ass of) her father's killer

I love how they have the limo now, it must be Steven bringing in all that cash from tours or something😌✨ millionaire Steven is on the way y'all I can taste it

HOPEFULLY WE GET FRENCHIE TOO,, come on we saw him in the phone HAND HIM OVER!! AND THE MOONCOPTER!!

rating luke skywalker’s most iconic Looks

bc i’m bored and he deserves some love and some roasts

1. luke skywalker 103- for the initiates 

dare i say the most iconic of all luke’s looks? he really came in swinging. the simplicity of the outfit really lets his natural beauty shine; the tunic says unassuming farmer boy but the hair says disney prince. i wanna touch it. the plunging neckline makes him look more shirtless than if he actually took his shirt off- i can’t tell if i’m repelled or turned on. but he looks like he’d be great at holding hands :) final rating: 10/10 absolutely iconic

2. these aren’t his clothes.

what happened to the swoosh in his hair? we went from the most dashing look the 70s had to offer to......... what i actually picture when i think of 70s hair. i realize that luke probably didn’t have much of a wardrobe to choose from but the banana yellow isn’t doing him any favors. but he looks happy enough and i guess that’s what’s most important? final rating: 6/10 would take him to Target for his own clothes :/

3. fun times w/ the frog

two words: hot damn. those arms. those hands. that frog. the whole package. i didn’t know i was that into biceps before this motherfucker, true story. not really into the whole “sweaty training in an acid trip swamp” idea, but luke actually pulls it off here. the hair plastered to his forehead....... makes me feel a certain way. get into my swamp tbh pls dont quote me on that im begging final rating: 9.5/10 would bang but only if yoda’s there

4. “luke it’s a trap”

similar in color to his dagobah outfit- maybe luke just really rocks the muddy greenish-gray? it’s not much of a fashion statement but sometimes less is more. while i do miss the biceps, i can’t resist a classy man and the sleeves at least give the illusion of classiness. his hair’s doing the swooshy thing again and it really pulls the look together for me :)  final rating: 8/10 hot but not too hot 

4.5. he may be ur father but he aint ur daddy

sad boy. angry. hair has lost trademark swoosh. new holes in his shirt, and new lack of hand where hand once was. also a new dad! i love that for him. i’m not really attracted to him here tho because he’s so vulnerable- i feel like i’m watching something i shouldn’t :( if anything it activates my protect instincts- someone get him a blanket and a hot chocolate.  final rating: 7/10 might be ur dad lol

5. he used to live here, you know

luke’s out here serving us some emo looks and ngl i’m kinda here for it. the similarity to anakin’s costume design makes me think he developed a retro style between esb and rotj. i’m not mad; i just don’t think the leather vest or whatever it is necessary. but the wind in his hair makes him look very dashing, and the green lightsaber is nothing short of sexy final rating: 8.5/10 who’s that fella??? 👀

6. *incoherent screaming*

i.... i think this is the same basic outfit from jabba’s barge but without the leather? thank the lord. he really did decide to make a statement with the black shirt, black pants, knee-high black boots, and thicc black belt, but honestly the uniformity looks very sexy on him. epitome of class. again, you can tell luke has combed his hair recently; it’s lost its swoosh and it’s not my fave. BUT i’m obsessed with hand veins and gloves and he’s serving us both!!! sorry that he had to lose his hand but the glove makes it kinda worth it 

this look also marks luke’s character development from one hundred percent sub to a total switch. i dont make the rules :)

it’s definitely not that bad at first, i would think he could handle his alcohol pretty well but once he get a couple shots in THAT’S when moody kags come in

but lately, the more often you do things the more desensitized and bored you get of the same activities over and over again

in the end alcohol was alcohol and you both didnt care about the quality

this was the only case in which you had a lower tolerance than terushima as he could literally handle the strongest of liquors and still act sober

it’s kinda scary as sometimes you can never tell whether or not he’s actually drunk

but as he is a sober drunk, the only way you can tell that he’s absolutely blasted is that he becomes brutally honest with you

that brutal honesty sometimes comes with a childish offhanded joke that you would roll your eyes to

not to mention he sometimes becomes a bit of a perv too

“your ass looks better in the dress you wore last weekend” was one example

and because you both wanted some quiet for once on a late saturday night, you drove all the way to the park where it was quiet enough for you two to relax

terushima had held your hand to help you walk up the steep hill to the top of the park in which oversees a great view of tokyo

with it’s pretty city lights shining upon you two, you and terushima settle yourselves on a bench and crack open your beers

you and him cheers as you two silently sipped at the alcohol

by the time both of you were in your third can of beer, it was obvious terushima was completely wasted

“not gonna lie,” oh here it comes, “your driving sucks.”

you couldn’t help but laugh at his honesty

a laugh that he likes so much, it sounded like heaven to his ears and he wanted to make you laugh again and again

“i mean, you’re the one whose making me drive you everywhere all the time.”

he scoffs, humming in response as his half-lidded eyes flickered towards you, admiring how the moonlight reflected upon your face as you breathed in the sky
