okay so a little bit ago i was asking for people's ideas on the cornley character's birth order positions (thank you to those who contributed). i'm still wildly unsure of quite a few, and because of that, i'm going to talk through my thinking processes for each right now, because that helps me out.
chris: probably one of the hardest because i can see him as an oldest, youngest OR only child. like all of them make sense to me. the oldest/only child vibe of trying to live up to parents expectations vs the youngest child always in the older siblings shadow vibe. i cannot make up my mind. if he's the youngest, then it's an older brother for sure, if he's the oldest i have no idea.
robert: youngest or middle, i see him with two siblings. one's definitely a sister (the one chris was with in accgw — she's the one who could be older or younger than him) but i'm not decided on the other one (lucy's parent). logically given that lucy's last name is grove, it would make sense for it to be robert's brother (given that's usually how names work in our society), but it's not impossible for it to be a sister, and that has a specific vibe that could relate to family stuff for robert (feeling like he has to "be a man" from his father etc)
max: almost fully certain on him being an only child, but i keep on getting the urge to give him a little sister, just because i think it'd be cute.
sandra: definitely the youngest. i also imagine her having at least three siblings (maybe more). i am stuck between her having all older sisters (that desire to prove herself and outshine her perfect sisters) or all older brothers ("mummy's little princess" vibes, a little bit spoiled).
dennis: stuck between middle, youngest and only. i could see him as the middle child who's always forgotten/undervalued because he's not the special oldest or the cute youngest, but i also see him as having an older sibling (or siblings?) who he's constantly compared to and told "why aren't you more like them?". BUT i also see him being the only child and his parents just being disappointed in him. if he's the middle, i see him having a brother on either side. if he's the youngest, i see either one sibling (brother or sister) or two (either two brothers or one brother one sister).
annie: middle child with quite a few siblings vibes to me. probably on the older end (eg one older sibling and like three younger). this one i've always been pretty solid on, but i'm willing to reconsider this. unsure about the genders of her siblings.
jonathan: pretty solid on him too, due to headcanons i have about his family i headcanon him as an only child. i know quite a few give him a younger sister (the fanfic influence) but those roles people put on her i usually just translate to his daughter. not much else to say.
vanessa: i am the type of person who goes "identical twins" when i see two people played by the same person in a universe, so she's got a twin sister to me (bryony's receptionist in accgw). i also think she has a younger half brother.
trevor: a group of us on the mischief discord kinda came up with a solid family for trevor, and i think it fits so i'm sticking to it! second youngest out of four, two older sisters — tanya, who trevor is heard speaking to on the phone at the beginning of ppgw stage version, and tessa, who is usually just the girl version of trevor in the shows but who we have developed into her own character — and a younger brother dale, who is from trevor's twitter account.

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.
Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.
Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.
And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.
All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt leo#rottmnt headcanons#rise leo#listen Leo loves his family SO MUCH#and like it’s no accident that Leo is consistently the one to give pep talks that#very notably#are less ‘everyone as a group’ and more ‘all of you individually’#it’s heartening to see honestly and like#it works with how he is as both a person and as a fighter#he knows people he knows them so well he knows how they work what they’re like#which is SO USEFUL for subterfuge AND portal/teleportation strategy#my guy is charming his charisma comes from his understanding of people at an individual level#when he wants to be he is very very good at that#he’s still a teen who is too cocky for his own good at times but that does not negate his stellar other moments#he can be selfish he can be mean he can be rude but when push comes to shove he is so quick to stand up for his family#Mikey’s statement at the end of the movie about how Leo NEVER gave up on THEM is so important because it’s not JUST about the movie!!#that’s Leo as a whole he will never give up on his bros#portal jacked is telling of this too because although it has a lot of comedic moments#never once does Leo stop looking for a way to get his bros back#they’re everything to him#he’s the face man he’s a people person and he’s the number 1 pet turtle which I will discuss the implications of in this essay-#Will also say that when Leo does these moments of standing up for his bros he’s never expecting praise for it#he’s just glad they find Raph he just smiles when Mikey tells him he loves him he never mentions defending Donnie#leo has a tendency to show off fancy glittery moves but his real actions and feelings are sooo much more lowkey#that you have to be actively looking for them to catch them all#and I really really like that about him it’s so interesting HE is so interesting

The feminine urge to write a one shot where it’s just Wednesday and Yoko trying to figure out why their girls are mad at them together.
Yoko: She is giving me the silent treatment.
Wednesday: She said she’ll be spending time with someone who “cares”, whatever that means.
Yoko: We’re fucked.
Wednesday: Decidedly.
Yoko: We might have to swallow our pride and beg Thing to tell us what he knows
Wednesday: Or we could threaten to snap his fingers one by one.
Yoko: I like the way you think

People give Valka a lot of shit which makes me sad bc her flaws are what make her interesting, and I LOVE thinking about her character.
Like, Have we considered how she had Hiccup at 20 and was married before that? Have we considered that, though she was in love with Stoick, marrying the Chief (or soon-to-be-chief) is a lot of responsibility? Have we considered how young 20 is and Hiccup takes after her in so many ways, not feeling ready for responsibility or wanting to settle down could be one of them? Have we considered she deliberately didn't come back because she maybe felt she wasn't ready to be a mother? Have we considered she loves Hiccup and Stoick so dearly but needed to live her own life? Have we considered how bittersweet the reunion really was because she realized she missed her chance to actually be a mother and how much the guilt of not coming back must've weighed on her?
I LOVE YOU VALKA HTTYD!!!!!!!

Dustplates concept where, after deciding to murder the Underground, Sans gives up his name. For reasons he doesn’t quite understand, he’s always loved his name, loved the idea of even having a name, so this is a form of self-punishment for him. He’s chosen to destroy everyone and everything he loves; he doesn’t exactly deserve to be referred to as a person anymore, does he? For a while, he tries to become entirely nameless, but it doesn’t quite work. He’ll think of something and his mind will slip. He’ll refer to himself, or Phantom will call him Sans. His mind won’t let him be completely nameless. So he settles for the next best thing.
A few years later, Nightmare visits Dusttale and recruits 1-S, a silent assassin with an unsettling grin. As names go it’s unusual, especially in a group with people named Killer, Horror and Cross, but the others generally accept it. After all, what’s in a name? He’s a skilled strategist and fighter with a past every bit as horrific as their own. Except.
Except every time they call him 1-S, he flinches. When you call someone’s name they should turn towards the sound; he recoils instead, vanishing into the shadows of his hood. In battle, everyone quickly learns not to use that name because when he hears it, he seems for a moment to forget how to fight, before pressing forward with the type of fear and anger that disintegrates strategy into chaos. As much as Nightmare feeds on the needles of negative energy summoned whenever 1-S hears his name, he is frustrated by this barrier that begins to form, the way that saying his newest recruit’s name abruptly halts communication, tearing at any sense of camaraderie. This can’t go on.
The first time Killer calls him Dusty, it’s an insult and a barbed joke. Looking for trouble, Killer makes a comment about 1-S’ scarf still being covered in his brother’s dust. 1-S launches himself at the other skeleton and the two have to be separated before they seriously harm each other. But even as Horror pulls 1-S off him, Killer sees the furious gleam in his eyes. So much better than the dull fear that rests there when he’s referred to as 1-S. So much more exciting.
Killer continues to call him Dusty. For the longest time, 1-S responds to this name with nothing but rage, but he doesn’t flinch. In day to day life, he looks up and glares at the speaker. In battle, it makes him grit his teeth at the most. So as time goes on, the others slowly begin to call him that as well. Not Dusty, no - that’s too infantile, too disrespectful. But Dust… that name works.
That name suits him well.

The world ends with you gave the depressed 2000s tweens so many gifts, and one of the greatest is introducing the player to a cast of fun, well rounded, and deeply human feeling background characters, only for the very premise of the game to be that all of these people are dead, leaving the player to grapple with the fridge horror and possibly fill in the blanks with their own ideas.

New Naruto plothole just dropped
Or at least it will be a plothole until we string together a theory.
NOTE: The colored version of the Naruto Manga is often INACCURATE. I am using a more accurate translation in this post because these specific panels are severely affected by the mistranslations.
As you can see in this poll, the majority of people think that Shisui's body was never found.
Tumblr media
The poll results probably speak for themselves, as there is also a significant percentage believing the opposite. The reason? There's an inconsistency in the manga. We know for a fact that Shisui's body can no longer be found and that Shisui himself intended for it to disappear.
Tumblr media
But the problem is, if Shisui's body was never found, then how does Yashiro know that Shisui jumped into the Nakano River?
And while we are at it, Itachi looks a little more surprised than he probably should be at the mention of Shisui's suicide. The conversation surrounding Shisui's disappearance was inevitable and should have been expected. But perhaps the mention of "Nakano River" was what surprised him here.
Tumblr media
EDIT: It is also not the case that the suicide note mentioned anything about the river (I checked the Japanese raws for that, too).
Tumblr media
But also, if Shisui's body was indeed found by the police, why does everybody conveniently gloss over the fact that his eyes were missing? After all, the lack of eyes indicates that his Sharingan was stolen. It's a piece of evidence that would otherwise point away from Itachi.
The Theories
I'm also curious as to what everybody else is making out of this. So far, my mutuals and I have already collected a few theories. I won't turn it into a poll this time, though, as the options are slightly more complex and I'd like to add more of them if anybody would like to share their guesses.
Of course, I am adding pros and cons, though, and will discuss any new theories, haha.
Shisui's body was not found but somebody else witnessed Shisui's death and informed the police
- Novel-compliant, as Obito manipulated Yashiro in the novel and may have informed Yashiro here as well
Shisui's body was found but the police omitted and disposed of the evidence
- Possibly because they had beef with Itachi and wanted him arrested
Shisui's body was found but the missing eyes were considered a diversion
- The police considered that the missing eyes might just be Itachi's attempt to divert attention from himself by making it look like another motive had been at play or to imitate what Shisui would have done
- The body was disposed of later, possibly by the police, Obito, Danzo, or another party that wanted to prevent Shisui's resurrection as an Edo Tensei
- It's weird that the eyes are not brought up regardless
Shisui's body was not found but somebody provided a fake body
- Itachi might have either faked the body or the eyes so nobody would suspect Sharingan theft
- I have no idea how he would do that
The police worked with ninja hounds or Sharingan to follow Shisui's trail
- Shisui's body was never found afterward as the trail ended at the cliff
- They should have encountered further evidence to incriminate Itachi, such as Itachi's (or some other person's) scent lingering on the suicide note and at the Nakano river or blood
- Itachi would know about these methods in the investigation and the evidence he's left behind, yet chooses to say "I haven't seen him lately" and the police chooses to withhold the evidence regardless
- They must have encountered evidence of a fight (between Shisui and ROOT) and Shisui's escape attempt that would be in Itachi's defense and don't mention or consider this either
- The police requests cooperation with ANBU which would require the exchange of any further evidence (exposing all the available evidence to Itachi as well)

The donghua adding in that Lan Wangji was waiting for Wei Wuxian to come back from the dead low key makes him look like an insane person, but it's fun to combine with the book lore of "He spent 13 years grieving" and turn into some maladaptive coping mechanism like-
"Lwj flipped back and forth between full confidence that wwx would come back and crushing despair over wwx just being dead. He collected alcohol for wwx to gift on return, but the only thing stopping lwj from just consuming it himself and getting alcohol poisoning was that he had to stay together enough to raise their son. Lwj incorporated wwx's ideologies and inventions into the Lan students teachings and worked tirelessly to make the world a better place, but could never simply enjoy the results as he was still waiting for the one he wants to show it off too (even if he's kept up at night knowing wwx will probably never see any of it). His hope that wwx could come back only made their time apart hurt more and made it so he was unable to move on"

The Dynamic Between Arthur and the Marstons (long post )
I guess I should say there are spoilers, just in case…
After playing the story through several times, I have to say, that Arthur Morgan is one of the best characters ever written. Aside from his development, there is so much depth to him, and regardless of his honor, there is so much to unravel.
I’ve been thinking about the relationship that he has between the Marstons, meaning John, Abigail, and Jack, and it really makes sense as to how Arthur acts the way he does around them in the beginning and all the way to the end.
A lot of his behavior, I think, stems from the loss of Eliza and Isaac. It is my opinion that he himself was torn between living a full life with them and remaining loyal to his gang, and before or by the time he had made a choice, it was too late, as they were killed in a robbery. This had haunted him since and it made him extremely bitter. Later in the game, he tells Rains Fall that he realized that he didn’t get to live a bad life and have good things happen to him. I also think that he was with Eliza after Mary had broken their engagement. I can get into my support for this later, but that isn’t what this post is about.
I think that Arthur was angry with John out of jealousy. He is the “golden boy” and clearly was Dutch’s favorite at one point. Not only that but after Arthur loses his own son and lover, John and Abigail get pregnant and he takes off for a year. He abandons his family, which Arthur takes personally. Arthur had tried to do right by Eliza and Isaac and still failed. So when John has Jack and is within the circle of the gang to help and support him, he takes off. Arthur gives up a potential life with Eliza and Isaac for Loyalty to the gang and John throws it all away. When John comes back, Dutch welcomes him with open arms, and Arthur believes that he would have been held to a different standard if he had come back after being with Eliza and Isaac for a long time. And it doesn’t help that John treats Jack like crap in the beginning of RDR2.
Arthur, imo, was a good father to Isaac when he was present. We can see this in how he treats Jack. In Arthur’s journal, he writes how he should have married Abigail, but due to his feelings for Mary, he didn’t. I’m not sure why after years of not hearing from Mary he would say this, but meh. Perhaps, the hope of starting over, or that she did pop in again at some point (which is how Abigail might have met her?). Anyways. I think he says he should have married her so that she would have someone to rely on and that he could be the father Jack needed. He cares about Abigail, but I don’t think it is anything beyond that. Arthur seemed to me not to be one to be with a woman without some sort of relationship, based upon how he treats women and the prostitutes in Valentine, so I don’t think he was ever with Abigail. Even so, Abigail relies on Arthur, and while he puts up a front, he gives her money for clothing and spends time with Jack. Heck, he even tells John to step up and be a dad. In some of Arthur’s conversations with John, he tells him that he can’t be two people at once. He’s speaking from experience. I think he’s subtly telling John he needs to make a choice as to what life he’s going to live. Hosea and Arthur both tell Abigail and John to leave at parts of the game.
When Jack is kidnapped, and eventually rescued, I think it is one of the most heart-wrenching missions and scenes. I can see it in Arthur’s body language that he longs for the family that he once had. He’s alone in his pain and when everyone is celebrating, Arthur doesn’t sing with the gang; there isn’t even the option to do it like it does other times. Even in my first playthrough, it seemed so sad to me. Everyone was drinking and singing, but Arthur just looked so sad.
So, it is at this point that John starts to step up, and Arthur starts to show symptoms of his illness. When he learns of his diagnosis, Arthur’s eyes open to the reality of the gang’s downfall, and he acknowledges the doubts/reservations he has about Dutch’s plans and schemes. He isn’t blindly loyal anymore. He tries to get John, Abigail, and Jack out, so that they can have the life that he had lost due to loyalty to the gang. He continually tells John to get out and that it would mean a lot to him. In his journal, after rescuing John from prison, he writes in his journal “…We’ve argued over the years, but I’ve grown to care a little for [John]. He’s less of a fool than he was, and maybe he can have the luck that has eluded me. Jack is an innocent little boy. In him, I see what I missed [meaning Isaac]. We did it.” This speaks volumes to me about how he feels about them in the end. He sacrifices himself to let John live. And though it isn’t forever, Arthur dies believing that he made it, and that matters. And hopefully, he could finally be at peace and see Eliza and Isaac again.
I could keep going, but I think I am too long-winded. I guess that helps when writing fleshed-out fanfiction stories, but not for posts. LOL
Would love to hear other thoughts or opinions, I’m always keen for a discussion.

HMM…sadness and anxiety :3c
ohohoooo that's interesting! I do feel like Sadness and Anxiety could be friends in the aftermath of the 2nd movie, despite all the things Anxiety did to Sadness. Sadness is just...the most understanding out of every one of them, in my opinion. Sadness could give Anxie a place to vent, and that could help her process her thoughts better. Anxie probably learns a thing or two from Sadness and her empathy.
I sometimes wonder if Sadness saw a bit of Joy's old self in Anxiety, with how much Anxie tried to seize control for the good of Riley. I also think Anxie would try and make up for Sadness (like she would for the rest of the OG crew). They'd make some good tea together and have a little talk to wind down.
Mixing their emotions could be a little messy, because of Sadness's pessimism and Anxiety's tendency to catastrophize the future. There's a possibility that Riley could freeze up because it might look like she can't do anything and things look bleak...but when Sadness has the tendency to stop and wallow, I think Anxiety still has the motivation to power through and avoid the worst possibilities, maybe even because of how bad things seem to look. Because yeah despite her being an overthinking mess, I think Anxie's quite the determinator who doesn't really give up in her desire to protect Riley (well, for better or for worse,,, as we've seen in the climax of IO2). On the flip side, Sadness could help reel her in if Anxie's pushing Riley too hard, and maybe help her realize that maybe giving up in some situations could actually be the best course of action. It's a good mix of low energy/high energy emotion I think!!

Remi and Swimming
Tumblr media
Why can’t Remi swim?
That’s a genuine question. Why does Remi, at seventeen years old, not know how to swim?
After some quick research, I found that being unable to swim is actually way more common than I thought. Still, I want to speculate on Remi’s reason.
The Red Cross lists fear as the top reason people cited for not learning to swim. Other reasons I can think of for not learning to swim are: couldn’t afford lessons, didn’t live near a pool or body of water, disability, or simply never made time to learn.
However, in Remi’s case, I think it’s much more likely because of her ability than anything else.
It could be because her parents wanted to wait until she had better control of her ability before putting her in water with other kids. This of course, raises the question of why she didn’t learn before her ability developed. It could also be that someone in her family had an incident in the water, and the family was very cautious after that.
I personally like to believe that Rei had an ability-related incident when Remi was quite young, and her parents wanted to keep Rei out of the water until he could control his ability better. Because it would be mean to take Remi swimming and make Rei stay behind or on land, Remi’s lessons got put off indefinitely until they were forgotten about.
Of course, this scenario also means that Rei never finished learning to swim either.
I also like the idea that their mom was the one who had a swimming accident, and was somewhat traumatized by it and therefore extremely paranoid about putting her kids in the water. This explanation would also mean that Rei probably couldn’t swim.
I will now kindly place here for my own enjoyment, a reminder that Blyke was the one who taught Remi to swim and it was cute as fuck:
