I actually love how ugly Merlin's outfit is in Merlin. BEFORE YOU YELL AT ME - I love his outfit, I think it's fun, but when you look at every other character, even other peasants, he literally is wearing ill fitting rags. Everything is too big on him (despite being like six foot but whatever) and his silhouette reeks of boring character design.

But like!! Yeah!! He is just Some Guy. I love how they never give him som epic mage robes or a cool outfit for more than thirty seconds. He is unassuming. He's over here, commanding dragons and controlling the weather in the medieval equivalent of stained sweatpants and a night shirt. It's great.

#I watched it today it was so good #im not big on dinosaur stuff but i like how it was used to approach the predator/prey conversation especially when both sides are sentient #instead of just defaulting to well since predators are meat eaters their actions are automatically immoral so their role in the story #has to match. and then when your characters /are/ meat eaters you just step around that whole topic #heart knows he has to kill and eat so there’s no avoiding it but even he knows he has agency over that #hell he even decided to hunt by himself so umasou doesn’t have to see him kill and eat another dinosaur a day after meeting him #and maybe its because it’s a kids movie but it also doesn’t make a big show over the act of hunting and eating. it doesn’t dwell on it #like yes you can clearly see them ripping into guts minus the graphic details but it doesnt go out of its way to censor it either #its played straight just like hearts mom having more kids like nobody asks who the father is or when that happened cuz it doesn’t matter #what matters is she still loves heart and encourages her kids to greet their big brother and they do!!! it’s sweet #Beckon was also an interesting touch bc they make it clear the only reason he doesnt eat umasou is bc he cant and not that he wouldn’t #but he’s still a funny and interesting character and that doesn’t get in the way of how we see him too much #same for baku he was pretty polite with heart esp from the start when he asks him if hes abandoned implying he would be prepared to #look out for him from the start. and at the end when he decides to spare him. I dont hate him at all hes just intimidating #you are umasou #doodles #I wanted to draw smth more detailed but I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go with the cartoony art style #or smth closer to realistic?? so this is like. some sort of compromise I guess

MY SON, GRUMBO

oh my gosh, I finished Maw and I am head over heels in love with him. This is my first time making a proper art doll where i had to construct the base itself which was really scary but I'm so happy with the result!

About the doll, Maw is made from socket armature and 14 gauge wire for his supports, then quilt batting and scuplty III for his ""flesh"", and finally he's wrapped in stretch pleather for the outer skin layer. All of his teeth are cosclay to make them flexible around his movement. He was painted using mostly acrylics, but this was also my first time busting out an airbrush in full force! i used that for the shading effects.

This character is a chainsaw man OC known as the Maw devil, who is centered around a fear of mouths. He has a goofy, upbeat, silly personality, but would not hesitate to kill and eat anyone, even teammates, if given the legal opportunity.

#the old guard #kaysanova #yusuf al kaysani #nicolo di genova #siggy draws #it ain't much but it's more than i've drawn in months. i miss this sort of cartoony style. like a dreamworks movie almost lol #my brain conjured an anime ending apparently and i can't explain why #maybe they're too girly looking but i didn't feel like using reference pictures so i guess they're bishounen sdfghfds #ahh i usually have director's commentary in the tags #yusuf is probably around 23-25 and nico is 19-22? though i can't say confidently that yusuf would be able to grow a full beard at 23 #but maybe he can maybe he's just that powerful #they're either very sad and lonely or very pensive. or both. maybe they're longing for something more... maybe a true love #i also dk what these clothes are. yusuf has some good clothes on. is probably flourishing as a merchant but still longs for More #nicolo is wearing... a tunic? but it could be a thin gambeson instead. maybe he's learning how to use a sword #i try to capture their best assets in this doodly style: yusuf's eyelashes and cute ears and weirdly shaped eyebrows #and nicolo's nose and heavy brow and the fact that he has almost no lips from the side lol
