i just read a TERRIBLE sakura slander i have to actually sit down oh my god
#did we....... read the same manga???????#the way people said s.akura mistreat nrt and ino and thats smth they have in common#WHAT#maybe thats smth that was perpetuated further with anime additions but ?????#as solely manga reader i cannot fucking remember one time sakura was ever purposely cruel#or even being petty about her feelings#maybe when she was 12 years old before shit went down??????? WHICH??? UMMMM????#HELLO?????? SHE WAS A CHILD ????????#everything ABOUT what she's doing after shes 12 and ssk defected and how shes responding was a DIRECT response to the circumstances#she was enduring#i cant remember ONE time she was EVER mean to any of her comrades#she was always so overly caring. so fucking READY to help them#my best example was how she was with sai. like my girl PUNCHED him when he badmouthed ssk#and still she was also the FIRST to genuinely ask sai abt his questions and hobby etc#shes both loyal AND curious / open enough to new friendships and bonds#i try not to divulge so much into the fanon lens of sakura#but if u think she's just this one-dimensional petty and jealous bitch to satisfy ur own narration of an event ...... IJBOL#take care of urself fr cause idk how it is at ur side but where i am? i'm fine and replenished#and sakura is still much more than the girl who couldn't succeed her teammates.#gen: out of character.

Episode 36 reactions!
I don't think one single minute passed this episode without me bursting out in laughter XD
I will get what interesting details I can, though! And here we have soap opera male character who has a Betrothed in the West. Interesting! Why did they separate, and how did she end up in Westalis, or he in Ostania? Did she defect and is waiting for him to join her? I need the full context, Berlint in Love!
Looks like one of the things that make Becky rush to be a grown-up is how she can't wait to have romantic feelings and relationships. Gurl, you're six. Pick up a doll or a ball.
The way the next scene was shown (hilarious) it looks like it was Anya who first picked up the phone, and didn't even make a sound before Becky started off her rant. Picking up the phone as a kid is quite a responsibility!
The music suddenly went full humor shoujo there XD
I love how Martha is already onto Becky.
She's like "Yo maybe reel it in a little"
The way all three of them are in completely different wavelengths is hilarious. I guess Twilight, the honey-trap master, sees Becky as the girl she is and cannot imagine she'd ever have such passionate imaginings with him.
The hell, though. I've met my favourite actor from up close in a convention and that was pretty much my reaction while being close to him. I feel Becky but someone needs to tell her of this thing called parasocial relationship--
WHAAAAAT
I had my eyes glued to the screen for this. It's definitely not surprising that the Blackbells would hire such an experienced bodyguard for Becky, but it's very interesting how it was pointed out to us! I wonder what we'll get to see next with her! (reminder: anime only!)
Becky really thinks she lives in a shoujo story doesn't she XD
I mean, Anya thinks she lives in a Spy Wars story so it's not that surprising XD
I love how in the "new" family photo Wiesel is added in front of Bond!
This episode is full chaos and I love it.
Seriously, the way Anya's powers work for her character is amazing. Usually, we'd get to see those imaginings even if she didn't have telepathy. But since she can see them with us, she gets a fair place as - almost - an audience proxy. And I mean, yeah, why wouldn't Anya be excited at the idea of super tasty food all of the time (even when papa is super busy), not having to do chores, and having fun family outings all of the time?
Completely different wavelengths, I tell you. How does this show make me love misunderstandings XD
And then a fourth wavelength is added and it's just! You don't know where to begin!
Poor Bond was heartbroken that Becky didn't notice him! Poor boy!
I find it really funny that this episode happened now, just a little after we got heavy hints that Loid is falling hard for Yor, and Becky is still like "I will win his heart with my six-year-old charm!"
If you count Bond dealing with getting rejected, that's five different wavelengths in one single screencap. No-one knows what's going on, not even Anya the telepath or Twilight the master spy.
Those are not the family teacups! Interesting choice. Also Becky's face, yeah that's exactly how I was when approaching my favourite actor for my photo shoot with him. I was smiling from one ear to the other, though XD
Also, I remember getting sent manga screencaps with Loid in such a cardigan! And I guessed right that it would be a beige one! I mean, it's a pretty common colour for a grandpapa cardigan, but has he maybe worn this before?
I wonder how he'd react and adapt if he knew Becky is having a crush on him. Like, what would he do? He'd definitely avoid anything inappropriate for all the obvious reasons, but here he's trying to pull back because he thinks Becky is getting suspicious of him XD
Send this to a friend without context and ask them to guess what the actual fuck is going on here. This is Misunderstandings: the Right-Before-Holidays Special.
Pure Chaos and it just
keeps
going.
This is exactly what I signed up for when I watched the very first episodes and was like "please tell me the entire show is like this"
Poor Yor, though. Her very first instinct was to blame herself and think of herself as incompetent. I guess old habits die hard.
Simp alert.
YEAH DEFINITELY NOT SCREAMING AT THIS
Seriously, though! She remembers what he told her there (though, weren't they supposed to repeat the conversation the next day?) and I hope she remembers how vulnerable he made himself with her.
OH BOI I DON'T SHIP OFTEN BUT WHEN I SHIP. I SHIP.
LOID BROUGHT YOR'S COAT WITH! MY GOD!
I mean! This isn't supposed to be a twiyor-centric episode and yet!
BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T RICH AS A KID AND THEN YOUR CHILDHOOD WAS VIOLENTLY RIPPED AWAY FROM YOU 😭😭
If you thought I wouldn't grab even this opportunity to make this angsty, well, you were wrong
The highest prize in the hammer competition thingy is... a q-tip?
We stan. Everything for the ultimate q-tip.
Becky sees Loid's ._. face and she's like
The way he said that "Yoru-san" there, though! This was the cherry on top of this entire hilarious part!
It was weird to see there was an entire small part on Nightfall, considering we haven't seen her in the entire season. However.
WHO THE FUCK IS THIS. WHY IS HE WATCHING THEM LIKE THAT.
(again, anime only here)
And I'm like, whoa. That's a very suspicious guy thrown in the middle of a filler part (I was told this is anime original) and not shown again. Since the next episode is the last of the season, I assume we'll see him again in that one?
I remember that in episode 20, when Loid is in the hospital, we see a moment from afar with a moving shadow, like someone was watching them. I noticed it on a rewatch and up until now I thought that was Nightfall. But now?
Seriously, though, are they not noticing him??
What he doin
I love how Handler said she doesn't want to overwork her agents... I wonder if she says anything relevant in the manga but I dare not look into the chapter after the one with Becky XD I'm guessing she actually took to heart the reprimand from HQ to be more lax with her agents.
Nightfall shows an almost audacious level of self-confidence in front of her boss... and Handler doesn't deny it. She trusts her and actually thinks the same - that Nightfall is probably the only one capable of handling Twilight's missions.
Anyway, Nightfall is going all "Senpai will notice me" and I'm like
ADDITIONAL CRUISE FOOTAGE???? 👀👀👀👌👌
Another hopeless suitor, Nightfall goes like "Did you spot any flaws in that Briar woman yet or" having no idea he was looking at Yor like the yearning simp he is <3
Nightfall being all "Pick me. Choose me. Love me." and then Twilight is like "Wow she did all of that hard job while I was gone. Guess she deserves the leftover souvenirs."
Like. I'm crying laughing over this. He didn't even think about getting a souvenir for her, not even as a cover. Nightfall couldn't be more hopeless.
And then she gives him that look
And the little hope she didn't even have is thrown out the window.
I love how Twilight turns around in shock and goes like "Why is glaring at me like that?!" because you idiot you gave her "leftovers"
Like I know he thinks they're not supposed to actually connect as friends but still. For a master spy he's so dense XD
They do kinda make you feel bad for her, though. She is trying really hard, and it would be hypocritical to blame her social awkwardness when we're here shipping Mr. Emotional Constipation and Ms. Naivete Personified. She would have actually been sympathetic if she wasn't so aggressive towards Yor (and in her mind, Anya too).
Anyway. Very funny and unhinged episode but there's only ONE EPISODE LEFT. I'M NOT READY FOR THE HIATUS 😭😭

My outrage given voice: The Shittenou were done so dirty!
It's very damn annoying to me and I hate it! Why the hell were the Shittenou not given a chance for a 'normal' life like Usagi wished for in the 90's anime; especially with the implication of the time of the first season repeating for the second and thus meant that they hadn't been nabbed for Beryl's/Metallia's purposes? Or even in the manga/reboot rather than kept as the stones they became after their deaths?
Like, what thoughts went into that? Why were the various relationships of the Shittenou changed so drastically, and not just between each other but their Prince and their Love Interests too? Especially when Mamo got a, technically, third chance to be with Usa after the first season's finale. The girls themselves have other love interests, I know, but you'd think that they'd at least be given the option to see if they were still compatible and part (hopefully) amicably if they weren't, rather than just have the view that they'll never have love or even a family. And, no, I don't count the "Parallel" world of the manga because it seems that they're right proper clones of their mothers rather than their own persons with thoughts, feelings and dreams like Chibi is. Yes, she's annoying and a frickin' Obnoxious Brat, but at least with that we know she's not Usa's clone just with pink hair and red eyes.
I remember watching the show growing up and never, not once, thinking they used to be love interests of the Senshi during the SilMil. Just that they were at the front of the invading army once that episode aired. Not to mention how my perceptions were fucked with beforehand because two of the four were in a relationship with each other (after one of them had been 'gender-bent'. Just...why?!) and a third was romancing a side character that had disappeared after the one episode she was in during the third season. Hell, the only reason I found out Sen/Shi was a Thing was due to the internet a while after watching the 'last' (for the North America viewing audience) episode of the fourth season. That pissed me right the fuck off.
I believe that shouldn't have happened. They could've done so much foreshadowing, maybe even a bit of character development, about the tragedy that would've been the Shittenou being killed off as the season went on once the SilMil's Last Day came about.
Like, think about it.
With Jad's constant disguises and schemes, it could've been that Rei, being a trained Miko, always seemed to find and flirt with him, because he was cute no matter his disguises, and then get mad about it because why?! is it always him?! she does that with?! The fuck?! And Jad's just like, 'How the hell does she keep doing this?!' before putting together that she must be an informer to the Senshi with the way they always show up when she does so he tries to keep her distracted in one form or another so his youma can do its job because she's too passionate and fiery to want to hurt or drain despite getting in his way so much. Beryl actually kills him off after his showdown with the Senshi, not listening when he says how he knows who they are, instead of being iced for his constant failures. (I never did get why he was singled out like that.)
With Neph's civilian identity of Sanjoin Masato, instead of Naru being the 'victim' of his 'manipulations', Makoto could've been brought in earlier and get to experience being treated like the young woman she is despite how other guys were put off by her strength and stature and just discovered she could transform just as or after he died. He still dies to Zoi's schemes but it's because, due to being around his Lady so much more than Jad was with Rei, he's starting to question what once he hadn't, especially if some dormant memories he hadn't known about break loose from their shadowy bonds, and so Beryl made out that he was defecting or losing sight of their goals so she didn't have to get her hands dirty.
With Zoi, 'cause I found it real annoying that only he could extract the Nijizuishou when the Moon Wand could also track them down but not get them out, Ami could've used her palmtop to scan whatever residue might've been left on the Wand, to also help look for the Carriers as Zoi did the same with his own tracking crystal. It could go that, because she does take her duties as a Senshi seriously and she's not all about school/studying despite her grades and work ethic and she's gonna prove it, she might get in trouble for 'stalking' while Zoi's just wondering what this cute but annoying brat is doing following him where she could get hurt - the Great Demon he awoke might very well kill her! - when in all reality she's trying to get close to the Carrier but this jerk-wad with the beautiful blond waves, because those are not curls as far as I'm concerned, in a ponytail keeps getting in her way! Shenanigans are had where they try to outsmart, trick or distract each other to get to the Nijizuishou first without outing themselves or her comrades. Zoi's killed by Beryl because when Ren's revealed and Zoi takes that hit with the Ginzuishou it purified him and, like Mamo is later in the season, left weakened and considered 'delirious' by Beryl who doesn't care she'll lose another of 'her' Generals because it means she'll have enough energy to get Dymi onside and keep Kunz loyal to her and scared of the Moon Witch's power.
With Kunz, well... we all kinda-sorta saw how many times Minako seemed to fall into his traps meant to nab Usa, not to mention their own history while she was in London. And he's killed as in canon because he would not be tricked by the images and lies the Witches from the Sky tried to force into his head, an unintended side-effect of how the SilMil's Last Day was shown, especially regarding her (Venus), into betraying his Liege; completely unknowing that he, technically, already has!

RWBY volume 2 episode 1 rewatch thoughts
.Bold move starting off with two new characters, especially ones that attentive viewers would know are villains
.Something really weird is that the old shopkeep never speaks past volume 1 even though he does in the first episode
.Considering how a lot fairy tales that are mentioned in show turn out to be foreshadowing lore, I'm kinda bummed that none of the books mentioned here seem to be linked to anything
.The window darkening switch things are really cool
.And Emerald and Mercury just straight up kill a guy, how many people have they killed and why did Emerald not even get a slap on the wrist later?
.Society if the text on Blake's notepad was decipherable and you could see her thoughts on Adam at that point
.Nora shooting cherry tomatoes(?) into Yang's mouth is weird and stupid and I love it. Let them be dumb teens
.Is Ruby calling her team (minus Weiss) "Sisters" where that one quote of Monty wanting team RWBY to be a sisterhood comes from? Because that quote has no other source to my knowledge.
.Ruby why are quoting Richard fucking Nixon, and why do I think that's the funniest thing ever RN. Oh god she a gun nut who fight protesters, did you vote for Trump Ruby? Did you? (this is all a joke before someone takes that in bad faith)
.Ah yes, one of the two real puns Yang actually makes in the whole series. And every fanfic author proceeded to have her be pun machine anyway.
.Wow Didn't expect them to show Weiss getting Creampied, that's kinda inappropriate don't ya think :)
.Neptune looks like what would happen if someone tried to combine Rex Salazar (Generator Rex) and Ninja (The Fortnight guy) genes into one clone body and it turned out defective (Can you tell I don't like him?)
.Shout out to whoever yeeted Jaune
.Whichever writer said that the foodfight isn't "100% Canon" or whatever is fucking coward. I get it's ridiculous but so is lot's of other stuff in this show
.Wouldn't putting turkey's on your hands get really fucking gross with all the meat juice
.Ruby surfing with a lunch tray gets a hell yeah from me, let her do Sonic the hedgehog type bullshit. Also shout out to that one animation someone made her breakdancing with Crescent Rose. I might dig through tumblr to reblog that later
.That one joking shot of Ruby holding Weiss was edited to remove the silly stuff in this volumes trailer, which can be argued to be straight up queerbait. Whiterose being teased as a joke is oddly thing in this volume and only this volume (also the anthology manga's but those are written by fans so that's not surprising)
.The first time Ruby becomes the rose pedal sphere thing is a scene you aren't even supposed to take as fully canon, also they should have let her do the giant vortex thing as part of her "real'' moveset
.I like to think the one of the reasons Ozpin didn't get mad is that this shit is kinda normal for Hunters
.God I fucking love Roman
.Emerald please, she doesn't care about you
.Eme and Merc are blood thirsty enough for Cinder of all people to tell them to keep their hands clean
.I forgot how funny Mercury can be
.Cinder he's a committed man, that's not gonna work

Not that i mind but i wonder if some changes to the shown dynamic were purposeful? The ending especially showed a lot of Gojo's regard for Geto, it was very cute (although I did think that Geto's depressive state in it would influence anime-onlys to see him as this typical brooding teenager who is annoyed by Gojo... and also im still certain that Geto showing middle finger in the group photo wasn't really in character for him). The lyrics of the opening and ending also add a lot of context for sure!
Then in the last episode they did a great job of adapting Gojo's emotional reaction, going even further with the excellent voice acting, erratic movements and bleeding from clenching his fist too hard... And of course the ambiguous redness under his visible eye after the dream, i'm sure we aren't going to get any confirmation whether it's from tiredness or tears (or allergies, or artstyle) but the implication alone is enough.
But!! At the same time in that final episode they chose to downplay the scenes where Geto mentioned Gojo before defection. And they didn't erase those moments but instead chose not to show his face fully.
It's like... His last hidden warmth towards Gojo, only shown to the manga readers. I'm not sure what the animation team's intent might have been with this, but I have to say - to me the manga had felt more ambiguous in regards to their relationship, their emotional states and feelings remained mostly subtextual (and i don't only mean the romantic overtones but just specifically Gojo's attitude towards Geto in the backstory). Meanwhile the anime chooses to focus a little more on Gojo's appreciation for Geto, clarifying a lot of things on his end but leaving Geto's side of things a biiiit less apparent? Which might in the end be for the best in order to make the sealing moment unambiguous. As it is, it was easy to interpret Gojo's fatal hesitation as an understandable shock at seeing a person from his past that he had killed. One could imagine him reacting the same way to Toji, for example. This way, however, Gojo's feelings will be clear. Also, I do remember how before s2 a lot of people claimed that Gojo didn't care whatsoever, citing that as the reason he had missed all the signs and why he 'had no problem' killing Geto in jjk0 (as if he hadn't avoided it to the last possible moment). So I believe it's very important for the audience to see that Gojo absolutely did care, and their sincere friendship just wasn't enough to overpower the messed up world they were living in, at least not without Gojo understanding that the system required change (which he didn't fully get until after Geto snapped, and even then... haha...). This in my view makes for a more complex narrative than just Gojo being a narcissistic person without personal attachments? It wasn't a one-sided narrative, both of them really were friends and liked each other outside of just going on missions together, it just wasn't enough. Anyway yeah, it feels like the anime showed a bit less of Geto's POV when it came specifically to Gojo, but we got more of Gojo's emotions in return, so yay!
#satosugu#jjk#gojo satoru#geto suguru#i also wished we got the wink and closer leaning in the beach scene but#the feeling of it was still preserved i guess so#text#jjk is so bad at emotions it's a wonder that geto turned out so great

Hector was ready to give up his life twice in the span of a few years.
The first time, it was after the fight against Isaac. There are two versions: in the MF manga, Hector simply collapses after Isaac falls off a cliff, with enough lucidity to muse that he'll die alone.
(the wiki also implies that Hector lost his will to live when he defected from his mission, but I doubt it)
But it's much worse in the PtR version, where Hector uses the last of his strength to walk away from a defeated Isaac and die alone under a tree, not after discarding his Devil Forgemaster vest:
There is something profoundly sad that I can't quite put into words. Hector could have collapsed next to Isaac, or he could have healed himself to continue his journey, but his priority was to get away from his former comrade, throwing away every last vestige of his former life, and find an isolated spot to die like a wounded animal (which would have taken him a long time, I presume, considering that Hector survived being thrown off Dracula's throne room). Did he feel like his life was no longer worth living for, after all the sins he had committed, after abandoning what was his purpose for years? We are left to interpret this scene for ourselves. But of course, fate had other plans for him.
The second time, it's right at the end of CoD. Hector has defeated Dracula before he could wreck havok again, he neutralized his Curse, and most importantly, he got his revenge against Isaac: he technically died from his hands, but there's little satisfaction Hector can feel from this, as he now knows that all this time, they were both mere pawns, neither of them in control of their thoughts because of the Curse. Let's not forget the likely sense of guilt he feels over being used like a puppet by two people, which is more apparent in the Japanese version: "[Isaac's] fallen so low... and so did I".
So he decides to let himself be buried under the falling rubble (ironically, he would have died together with Isaac's body this time, no running away to die alone). In English, it sounds like he was already planning to give up: "I feel I can let go now, and die in peace." In Japanese, it sounds like a sudden realization: "To die like this... it wouldn't be so bad." Good thing for him that Julia has precognition powers and at this point she knows Hector well enough to know that he'd do something stupid like this :')
Hector, in general, doesn't seem to care much about his own life, which makes perfect sense for someone who used to be one of Dracula's tools and had to come to the realization that he is a person after years of service. It also puts this cute quote in a more bittersweet context:
Rosaly saved his life the first time, and a simple act of kindness made him completely devoted to her. After she was killed, he set himself to throw it away in her honor. I hope, for his sake, that his time spent with Julia can help him accept that his life is worth living no matter who and what.
#castlevania#curse of darkness#hector castlevania#everytime i see one 'hector is a boring protagonist' take i make one extra post about him#this poor man. please let him be happy for more than 5 minutes

Okay, you know what I'm gonna say it- I am personally mad about the Haruka verdict this trial like on a very personal level and I'm gonna explain why. I feel like I need to preface this with I don't really like getting personal that often online, but I feel like people won't understand my point on this without me explaining myself.
As no one may know, because I don't get personal often on my blog outside of rare occasions, I had a somewhat similar circumstance to Haruka coming up. During my upbringing I was basically treated as defective from the start. However, even though I recognized this within his first trial song I wasn't like oh vote him innocent. In fact, when I saw Weakness, I believed he should've been voted Guilty, but he was already Innocent at that time. Just because of what Weakness centered around. So, this isn't just a case of oh I relate so I won't be critical. Because the more I relate to something the more critical I am likely to be. Eh-hem Mikoto sorry weird cough there.
So, tragic anime-esque backstory time I suppose which is not tragic or anime-esque since things like this happen all the time and continue to. So, I believe people should really stop this weird belief that abuse such as this can only happen in fiction then balking when they find out oh people just really be out here like this. I'm the youngest and last daughter of an incredibly self-centered woman. Since she had a daughter one year before me, she did not want a second one. She would tell me multiple times in my life that she really wanted a son not another girl. Stating the reason behind that desire was because sons tend to be more loyal to their moms (momma boys) and girls their dads (daddy girls).
Even went out of her way to give me my legal name just to later give me the nickname Lee. This was a failure of a plan because in the US you don't plan a nickname, it either chooses you when you come to age like a rite of passage, people just randomly start calling you something in your family and it sticks, or you actively pick one for yourself. What this did do is actively fuck me over in small social ways repeatedly since my legal name is still not even considered a real name due to its spelling and has zero meaning since if you go back to point one it is not a recognized name. If I looked it up right now google might tell me to fuck myself. I looked it up and Google told me I spelled it wrong. Been alive 27 years and still can't spell my own fucking name right I suppose.
This has caused some of my documents to be wrong cause she just didn't bother to tell me or anyone else for that matter how it was legally spelt until I was out of high school. Don't worry there's a great excuse for this in her own words, she was just taking a "hiatus" from parenting that included dropping off the face of the earth and popping back up randomly to force me to get braces because my teeth were just too crooked, missing every birthday I had but at least calling my sister on most of hers even showing up unannounced a few times for my sister's. Her birthday is a month before mine by the way. So, that was super fun, no way one could take that personally at all. Just to then reemerge when I was sixteen to be a parent again and explain it like she was taking a break from writing a manga. It's incredibly funny cause she just assumed I wouldn't know the meaning of that word, but I'd seen it a lot by that point so lol.
All that to say when I saw Haruka's second trial video it recontextualized a lot. Again, I already thought he should be voted Guilty on Weakness alone. Him being weak didn't really explain to me why he was killing any of the things he clearly did in that video. I just thought he was doing it just because fuck it's Tuesday why not. Like his first mv made it pretty clear he was killing animals and people. Also, that the person could have been a sibling. Like I'd been talking to friends about how he did that for a year now.
So, seeing it shown more blatantly was not like a oh whoa that's horrible because I'd gathered that already. There was nothing new to me in Haruka and Yuno's videos to be honest. I was actually very annoyed with Yuno's mv in a "Okay, tell me something I don't know way!" Like all of this is old news come on. So, really didn't rattle me in my core. I don't really think Mu's will shock me at all either but I'm dying when I love you comes out. I can feel it in my bones Mahiru is gonna be on some shit.
So, with Haruka I was like ah okay yeah, no innocent that's a failure in parenting. He killed a lot of things though hm unfortunate where was his caretaker when he was doing that? Also why is there an isolation room in his home? Like bro I can recognize someone's individual behavior is wrong and then consider the circumstances/environmental factors that may have led to that course of action. That is kind of something everyone is very much capable of doing. I can even just detach myself from my emotional sentiments on the issue as a whole and go, "Well wrong is wrong so not a big deal if he's voted Guilty he did kill someone after all."
However, even doing that I was just like this is still a stupid way to vote. Not just because having Haruka undergo something like this could very well be retraumatizing but as I've said before if his mom using negative reinforcement did not work why would it work here? He seems to actively respond better to positive reinforcement given his protectiveness of Mu and how he's been picking up words more through being patiently taught within Milgram.
However, Milgram isn't about rehabilitation, that's not the purpose but if I have a choice between rehabilitating and demonizing, I think the former should be chosen. Of course, for any progress to be made there are times when people must be told their actions were wrong. I think given Futa's second trial a Guilty verdict the first one was a good choice. I just don't think that sort of firm punishment is necessary in Haruka's case. Since we've gotten a great illustration of how he responds to negative reinforcement in general.
I feel like people greatly underestimate what being in an accepting, positive environment can do for someone mentally and the damage that being in a place the exact opposite of that can cause a person. How it affects their confidence, impacts the lengths they'll go to get attention, and how they view positive and negative attention overall. I hope this verdict doesn't negatively impact Haruka too much but as someone with those sorts of experiences I can see how this might just cause him to regress.
Well, didn't think I'd say this when the second trials started but at least he has Mu still hopefully...
#milgram#sakurai haruka#tw abuse#hopefully this doesn't get too much attention cause it is pretty personal but i feel it needs to be said soooo aaaa

Yuuka/Miyu Lore Deep Dive
Yuuka (formerly known as Miyu) is an original character that gets zapped to the one piece universe via.... (drum roll).. you'll know later!
I haven't really written anything for them yet. uH, more like I'm on draft 3 and ideas are coming in real slowly. That's okay though! Because it means I've thought a lot about Yuuka and their story, and how I want things to play out.
our story will start with Yuuka and Luffy during the first like ~fifty episode events. Yuuka, by this point, has been living with Luffy in windmill village for over ten years since getting transmigrated.
that's right, you heard me. Trans. (gender-)Migrated. Yuuka has died once, like every other mc in every other isekai manga ever. I'm planning for Yuuka to have died by their boyfriend's hands, but its not suuuper important lore nor is it final.
side note: as Yuuka has been with luffy even before meeting ace and sabo, i imagine Luffy will force them into the first mate role against their will.
So, as we get introduced to Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, we will slowly get tipbits of information about Yuuka and their life on dawn island, and what they've been doing in their spare time there. Things like sending letters to marine headquarters, obtaining a rare devil fruit, and claiming to be a prophet.
Yuuka presents themself as an eccentric person, basically.
As the story progresses, we will learn that Yuuka woke up in the one piece world with one wish, like a genie wish I mean. And they used that wish on the Yami Yami no Mi. This, pretty obviously, changes a few important plot points in the one piece timeline.
no defective blackbeard < no witch hunt for defective black beard < no ace getting captured by marines < no execution < no whitebeard dying < but also, no luffy meeting whitebeard? < no sabo???
we'll see about that last one. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not even really at marineford yet so I don't know all the details about how everyone gets there and why. I do have a very detailed wiki at my disposal, and no qualms about spoilers. I will mention that I don't care at all about sabo, and I know nothing about him or his story.
So, back on track, Yuuka obtained the Yami Yami no Mi after first appearing in one piece, and ate it nearly immediately. Yuuka did not have control over their body, simply looking at the devil fruit put them in a daze.
That fruit is pretty rare and powerful though right? who has the ability to both bring another soul into another universe, and grant them such a monumental wish like that!? Aren't you making Yuuka a little overpowered!?
Okay so, Luffy can literally turn into "sun god nika", granted nika isn't actually the sun god he's just called that, but still. dont talk to me about over powered when he literally just exists over there.
secondly, the person to bring yuuka into that world is actually an important plot point!! Yuuka was granted a wish by none other than nika actually. And now, they're cursed with having to have nika follow them wherever they go since they're tied to him. without nika, they would have no anchor in that world.
"but didn't you just say nika isn't actually the sun god anyway?" im using the theory of if you're worshipped as a god after death, you become a god.
So nika is a constant presence beside yuuka, who would love nothing more than for him to fuck off because frankly, im going to make him annoying (in a luffy kind of way, not in a bad character way.)
nika also claims yuuka as his "prophet", and uses that as an excuse to come in and remind yuuka of things they clearly already remember anyway. just because he's silly like that. with that claiming in mind, anyone that hurts yuuka is sort of 100% doomed because they will be targeted by both the power of god and anime mc.
yuuka will also eventually be revealed to have saved the life of Donquixote Rosinante, who like idk, ill probably make into a pirate??? im not there yet in the anime, I don't know the logistics of that idea.
i just really really like corazon and i would eat moldy cake for him, so shut up.
anyway.
plans for the far future, nika will probably disappear for the short while that is luffy, gear 5. its just sort of a given, but its a detail i wanted to mention because, reminder, nika is yuuka's anchor.
so, plans for that are either yuuka gets pulled into the fight with Kaido or yuuka gets sent back to their universe temporarily every time luffy goes gear 5. actually, that second one would be a good plot point to reveal that they're from a different world...
anyway im done lore dumping, i just got really excited because i was thinking about this before going to bed last night.
thank you for reading all that,
signing off,
- Yin.

How come kisshu's in love with ichigo
Oh boy I wish I knew xD The anime(s), manga never explain why he's attracted to her. So I'm gonna give my analysis on the topic.
INCLUDES TL DR AT THE END
At first (to me at least, in my point of view) it didn't start out as LOVE but it did grandly evolved into that He's on a mission and ichigo is a target to be take down. Ichigo is a pretty girl (all the mews are), she must be different from the girls of his species / planet
I've always seen the flirt and kisses as an attempt to get her angry, ready to beat his ass. She's the enemy and you gotta know how your enemy fights in order to bring them down. So far until up this point I don't see it as love. He reminds me of a predator playing with its prey before killing it, that's why he addresses her as his TOY.
To him she's just a plaything, something he can use, abuse and re-use until it's no longer working and throw it away or killed it
New keeps his psychopath, narcissist and manipulative personality pretty sharp, despite all his plans failing, he takes this opportunity to study the enemy, he's quick to admit defeat and leave
And HE KNOWS exactly what makes the enemy angry and takes pleasure in seeing them suffer.
VILLAINS WILL DO VILLAINS THINGS.
His problems all started when Aoyama approached Ichigo
You won't play with me to hang around with a human? What a bad toy, you're defective Ichigo. At this point he's still more interested in killing her
BUT ( I feel like) he completely changed once he saw Ichigo started hanging more with Aoyama and they were becoming closer.
Because Ichigo is Ichigo, to him no other human is so interesting as her.
With Deep Blue awakening to be soon, the Earth and humanity completely destroyed, he feels the need to protect his most precious possession
"IF I DESTROY HIM, YOU'LL ONLY HAVE EYES FOR ME"
Yes Kish, she will completly ignore your red flags and fall high in love with you <- he's so narcissist he doesn't see the errors of his ways (for now) and forces the other half to be in his possession
IF I CAN'T HAVE HER NO ONE CAN.
This is slowly leading to him kidnapping her (next episode) Where he kinda give us an insight to why he likes her, because she defies his approaches and because both are so different from each other BUT are faithful to their mission. The harder to get the better
ONLY WHEN THEIR SAVIOR BETRAYS THEM (that was Deep Blue plan since the beginning)
He come to understand that its better to fight alongside the enemy instead of against them. And if that means betraying his planet, he's not gonna let the person he loves be killed.
If I make the ultimate sacrifice, put my needs beside, she will understand how I really feel.
Even if it costs him his life. If he can't save his planet then someone else will and he knows Ichigo has the power to do that.
TL DR: I think that's why he ended up loving her:
Both have a mission to fulfill
Both will do everything possible to accomplish their goals
Have different ideologies
She's different from other girls

a/n: 1.2k. post defection geto, manga spoilers, a little angst, reader also believes in geto’s flawed vision. inspired by above the chinese restaurant by laufey ♡
“(y/n)-san! (y/n)-san!” the girls’ shouts cut through you and suguru’s conversation, and your lover turns to them with an amused smile — about to speak up about something along the lines of interrupting the ‘grown ups when they’re talking’ — but mimiko and nanako doesn’t care one bit, not when they’re finding out about a new dessert place down the street.
life is simple; that is if you factor out the sorcerers at jujutsu high trying to weed you out and kill you, but among the squeezy apartment above the chinese restaurant and the delicious smell of dumplings, you think that life was well this way, even if it was inconvenient. you still remember the bags under suguru’s eyes, the hair that stuck out of all places, and the regret swirling in geto’s irises when he returned bloodied and frozen.
(“i killed them… my parents. i did i—” it doesn’t take long for geto to break down, because you know that he went through all of that, numb. you hold him all through the night that day.)
“(y/n)-san! did you hear what we said?” nanako tugged on your arm and snaps you out of the daze, showing geto’s phone that displayed the colourful crepe store, albeit upside down. giggling, you flipped it around for her and her twin, ruffling her hair.
“yes, i did, honey,” you’re pleasantly surprised when you glance back up at suguru to find him already smiling at the three of you, fond and satisfied. he looks at you like you’re his saviour. “when do you want us to take you?”
that godforsaken day, seeing two young girls caged like animals made geto snap, it made him question if he was actually protecting the right people. and that night as you hear him explain his vision in hushed tones and passionate words, you still his pacing with warm, hypnotising hands on his cheeks. you pull on his heartstrings with your loyalty and love and he promises that he’ll do everything he can for this little broken family.
and do everything he did.
from sourcing for apartments that were out of range of jujutsu high’s radar, to building twin beds for the girls, to debating desperately over what to name the two. seeing suguru in unexpected fatherhood made you smile to yourself all the time, you didn’t think you’d be this lucky to witness all of it. the chair scrapes across the floor before geto stands up, walking over to your side and feeling his arm snake around your waist along with a kiss to your cheek.
“why would you need a dessert when we have (y/n) right here?”
you roll your eyes and laugh as you push him away, opposed to the girls who just pull disgusted faces at your display of affection.
“geto-sama, we don’t love (y/n)-san the way you do,” nanako speaks up, grabbing your hand and pulling you from the chair so much that you’re forced to sit on the floor between the two girls. they’re getting stronger by the day. “we love (y/n)-san like a parent, right, mimiko?”
mimiko was more reserved than her sister, but she gives her verdict anyway, nodding to her sister’s prompt as she curled into your side silently with a small smile. “yeah.”
the failures of jujutsu high — they would often call you, but you hardly felt like one when you hear the laughter of your boyfriend with the girls. you’d even call it content when you hear them playing tag in the living room or feeding each other noodles at the dining-table-slash-kitchen. the proximity felt loving, the thought of giving them a second chance felt right.
because at least if you had your youth taken from you, it was fair that you made sure that no one took away theirs.
“do you think hell is waiting for us?” you mumble to the other that night after putting the girls to sleep, swallowing nervously at the challenges that would arise before the four of you. it seems like geto understands your anxiety, taking your hand and squeezing it softly. even without looking, it feels like the sky is your shared space of vulnerability and camaraderie.
beside you, suguru takes a deep breath before turning to you and placing his forehead on yours. the moment is tender and soft, and below, you can hear the chinese restaurant winding down and closing shop. it’s the end of the day, supposedly calm and still, but your eyes are blurred from the vision of the girls covered in blood, from the vision of the strangely vivid image of geto clutching his side that’s stained his hands red.
“hey, hey, sweetheart, what’s wrong?” you sniffle, blinking away the tears before your eyes finally lock onto him. they’re downturned and hold the glow of the moon, and you think you can see how his eyes (and him) resemble the floating rock: often wrongly overlooked but striking. you remember how the girls like to pull you along while suguru rests at the back like a tired dad, how they wake you up in the morning and go to sleep in his arms.
they find fun in you and solace in geto.
“nothing— j-just,” you sigh, “i don’t know. i’m just scared.”
geto frowns, hands from your face dipping towards your waist, “will it do you any better if you sit in my lap? hm?”
he’s skillful at using his words, but today he’s a little quieter, settling rather for the feather-like touches of his arms around your middle and the similar kisses upon your jaw. his mouth maps out your skin, a memorisation of something that he can do with his eyes closed, and his embrace tightens when he feels you stifling a smile.
“that’s that smile that i love,” suguru mumbles, finishing his journey and coming to face you again. “i’m scared, too. nothing worries me more than losing the three of you, especially when we’ve only begun this small family.” the word makes you smile, no matter how fucked up it was, but if geto was determined to give you the world, so would you.
“we’re awfully young for a proposal, but i accept it,” you laugh, pecking his forehead. he savours it, eyes closing and breath halted, and when they open again, you think suguru at the end of the day is the most beautiful — it was what he was the epitome of. the opposite of calamity and the jujutsu world, tranquil and undisturbed like the soothing tides of the night’s oceans.
“i love you.” suguru doesn’t think love is a curse at that very moment despite what his classes before at jujutsu high have taught him. your lips are an inch from his, already sensing his contagious smile before he mutters the confession again. it sounds like something forbidden, but it isn’t. “i love you.”
it is geto suguru’s curse to bear even if he falls and indulges and loves too hard, but it’s a curse he will never forget the taste of even if he lives a million lives and dies a million deaths — it will always lead back to you.
geto is a mass murderer and id still defend my little babygirl. anyway this fuckin hurt to write i wanna give him a hug so bad

Why do you love Gojo so much? I’m sorry if this question has been asked before
Anon, don't worry about asking twice or even three times...
Are you prepared for this answer though? I don't know how long this answer will be... I'll try to keep it rather short though because otherwise it would entail a full analysis of Gojo's entire character...
TL;DR: Love me a man who's a little yum yum, a little cray-cray and uwu uwu.
Manga spoilers?
The superficial aspects I really like in fictional characters: appearance (especially the hair), the strength and teasing attitude. Gojo just happens to have all three of them.
If I take a look at my MAL favorite character list, I have 9 characters on there and 4 of them have white/silver hair. And yes, all of them are super strong in their respective verse, so at this point the formula is "white hair = strong" in my head.
Gojo is also a tease. I like that about him because he's not over the top where it's just mean, unless he's talking to an enemy or someone he hates.
His confidence is something I admire and long for because I lack it. His sweet tooth is also something I personally vibe with because I, too, have an insatiable sweet tooth.
On top of that... a character voiced by Nakamura Yuuichi-san? How can I say no?
On a rather deeper level?
From the first moment I got to know this man called Gojo Satoru, I just knew that his cheerful character hid something deeper. (Most of the characters I'm drawn to do.)
And of course, my hunch proved to be right: Gojo Satoru is such a deep, complex and multi-faceted character. He's also one of the few characters that are not defined by the series but instead, he defines the series. It's shown in the fact that the enemies wouldn't make a move just because he exists.
On the one hand, we have the goofy teacher that annoys the living hell out of Megumi simply by being himself and regularly giving Ijichi a heart attack. He also seems to be super cocky and pretty close to having a God complex or something like that (before you ask: no, I do not believe Gojo has a God complex but that's a post for another day... maybe).
That's what we all see at first.
On the other hand, if you dive deeper into his character, you'll quickly notice some other things.
First of all, he's a "shitty teacher". Gojo sucks at traditional teaching, alright? In that aspect, I think Utahime and Kusakabe do better. If you think about it though, Gojo does not suck at teaching at all.
He simply nurtures his students in his own, sometimes twisted, way, with the intention of bringing out their highest potential for growth with each mission or task he assigns.
He uses uncommon methods for this but not before making sure the students are as safe as you can be as Jujutsu sorcerer. After all, he treasures his students a great deal (as can be seen in pretty much every interaction he has with Yuji and also when Yuji dies).
I've said he strives to nurture his students' growth, yes, but he's also respectful about it: He expects great things from Megumi, yet doesn't train him but instead waits for the younger one to approach him.
Yuji is a different matter in this case. Gojo - as busy as that man is - takes in the student without judging him for being Sukuna's vessel and chooses to personally supervise his growth as a sorcerer when he didn't have to - it just adds one more burden onto his already stuffed plate - yet he did. Because he cares. He cares about not unnecessarily throwing another life away (Yuta + Yuji). And he cares about Megumi's opinion or else he wouldn't even ask?
As much as caring Gojo goes, he's also very much capable of being unhinged and feral, if there is need (Shibuya).
He doesn't seem like your typical shonen anime hero that protects people/is on the side of 'justice' "because it's the right thing to do", but rather, he recognizes the faults within this so-called 'justice' and tries to uproot the cause of it. He's capable of thinking and judging for himself and chooses to constantly go against orders that he doesn't think are appropriate - the execution of Yuta and Yuji are one example. Another one would be him and Geto deciding to call off the merger (and you know how important that was), should Amanai Riko express the desire to live on as a normal teenage girl.
Moreover, the drastic change in character is what makes him interesting as well.
At first, he's a cocky teenager who thinks of himself oh-so-highly, with every right. For the longest time, he believed he was undefeatable, only to be proven wrong in a battle against Toji, a man without cursed energy.
This fall from graces shakes him to his core because what? He's been defeated? And thus, he enters a mindset he probably never experienced before: instability and vulnerability first cloud his mind - and he's not capable of processing it at first, leaving him in a delirious state, to the point where Toji questions himself: "Is this man high?"
On top of all this, his best friend 'betrays' the side he is on and defects; that's gotta be a huge blow mentally... and then he has to finish of said friend as well.
That didn't go without consequences.
After Geto's defection that ultimately lead to death in later years... for the first time in Gojo's life, he displays a weakness that is exploitable, used against him in Shibuya.
His fall from grace is a fall from being the strongest to 'oh, maybe I was wrong'.
Gojo went from being a teenager with no apparent goal to being an adult that wants to change the world to one where his (already deceased) best friend can laugh from the bottom of his heart.
On a more personal note:
Generally, his (pretty easy-going) attitude just makes me happy and has actually brought me comfort in harder times.
Obviously, this manchild is also my biggest muse. I have written fanfiction for other fandoms before but I have never published them but Gojo just makes it so easy, I'm having a lot of fun with his character. Plus, without JJK and Gojo, I wouldn't have come to Tumblr at all and therefore, wouldn't have met the wonderful people I call my friends now 💕
All in all, I love the tragedy in his character as the strongest but his unyielding resolve of staying strong, being strong, being the best he can be. The cruelty he, without a doubt, witnessed over and over again, yet he stays kind and caring throughout all of it. Oh, how easy it would be for him to simply destroy everything? "But nobody would support a mass murderer," he is so big-brained for this.
I don't think there's a single aspect of him I do not love? I really adore this man so much.
-
And yes, this was rather short and I am sure I missed multiple things but I do hope my answer helped.
Maybe, MAYBE, I will post a full one on another day. But that one would be long as fuck...

>:) at long last:
So much to talk about in this scene, first and foremost that the anime actually moved the return-to-court bit around a little; in the manga ten’s initial unveiling of the coded message is paired with the ‘why are you standing’ line (as a chapter ending), but here we get her whole explanation of the code itself before checking in with its mastermind, and then the entire declaration-of-intent as one scene :D and what a scene, omg, the dead silence in the room as ryo fui begins his interrogation and gets his answer, the weight of every little motion… it’s the perfect staging for a sequence that is first and foremost about shou hei kun’s extreme dignity and composure, despite the fact that this as an absurdly dramatic situation that he’s orchestrated himself (sai taku’s comment on his unexpected boldness lol. but, as with most of his other plans, it’s just a matter of the most grandiose route also being the most practical one in this situation — his conversation with shou bun kun outside of court definitely suggests that it would actually have been unsafe for him to defect from ryo fui’s faction earlier — though he also could’ve done it like years earlier, up to and including Literally During The Coalition Invasion, but for all that I think the loyalty ri shi was discussing here really did linger..), especially with ri shi’s tantrum about his betrayal to emphasize it lol
tho I will say… ryo fui is just as much the star of the show here, once again. His response to shou hei kun’s wonderfully understated statement-of-intent is one of his finest scenery-chewing monologues of all time..
Even with so many odds against him and such a wide variety of circumstances bearing down, he’s still definitively a man who hasn’t lost yet :-)
I also want to discuss his goofy metaphor abt the four pillars just being useless trinkets to him, though, specifically just this one line of it —
— because i think this is as close as he ever gets to acknowledging that he really has lost not one but two of them here :) If I’m recalling correctly, mou bu’s withdrawal from the pillars is never litigated or even mentioned, it’s just implicit that he (like sai taku) seamlessly becomes a member of sei’s faction after ryo fui’s fall from grace, but I think ryo fui knows both him and shou hei kun well enough to know that losing shou hei kun’s loyalty naturally means he’s also lost mou bu’s along with it, and that he’s realized that when he says this line :~) which especially funny considering that his plan in large part relied on the timing of the mou bu army’s arrival (just a little too late to save the royal family, which is such a tasty parallel to the hi shin unit’s primary goal of Not Being Too Late This Time) — they won’t make it on time, but shou hei kun will!
Also, the anime staff gave us a little original additional sequence this week —
A little check-in with rou ai, in case you’d forgotten where he was located on the battlefield, or what a miserable time he’s having there :’)
also here’s a ruki cap for the road because i’m continually floored by how endearing han oyako are in the anime lol
Cute!!
#when I rewatch this season I will be keeping a sasuga chichiue tally lol#txt#kingdomposting#sooooo much in this episode omg… I also LOVE the scene outside the court where shou bun kun and shou hei kun are discussing their alliance#and after shou bun kun praises shou hei kun and talks about how glad he is to have him there’s a sequence of shots where:#shou bun kun clasps his hands and salutes. heki salutes. kai oku salutes them back.#and then shou hei kun just starts talking abt their plans without saluting him back fhdhffn#I know he didn’t have to the anime framing just really really underlines the way he Didn’t and it made me laugh#also funny is hearing ten’s explanation of his coded message out loud it’s truly some red string on corkboard stuff#the leap from ‘he says the weather will change’ to ‘its a rebellion’ lol…#altho of course#I do believe she Can read his moods like that. number one student :’)#uwaaa also I will say. rewatching coalition this week is making me so appreciative of the pacing of this season#in s3 usually several lines per convo would get cut & we’d often lose entire scenes#but so far this season literally Nothing has been cut like not a single line of dialogue & often we get additional content#idk. feeling blessed grateful etc today

Oh it absolutely did land! I was eating that dynamic of Jonathan being Dracula's unwilling thrall and servant <3 also I didn't say it in the ask, but I find beyond impressive that you always stick to a rounded number of words, mostly in the multiples of hundreds - and yet I could never notice that there was an abundance or lack of certain words! I once tried to write a 500 word fic, and finding the right extra word to put in the proper place is much harder than it might sound. It seems that it comes natural to you, and it's certainly a distinctive quirk!
Anyway, if you may allow me to gush more about my problematic rarepair :'D
in the show, Dracula goes to specifically hire Hector and Isaac for his mission to exterminate mankind. In the game (as a reminder, by "game" from this point on I mean Curse of Darkness and its two prequel mangas), Hector and Isaac went to seek refuge to Dracula when they were boys, long before Lisa's death: Dracula took them in and gave them their first proper home, in exchange for their general services (studying dark arts). This changes their dynamic from boss/employees to Lord/knights, and apparently knights that Drac raised in some form :) it's very important to me that those two chose Dracula first.
in the show, Dracula seems to be good friends with Isaac, but doesn't think much of Hector (he had to lie about his true objective to hire him, and he mocks with Isaac his habit of resurrecting dead animals). In the game, it's the complete opposite: Dracula respects Isaac just fine, but Hector is explicitly his favorite General, to the point that when he goes missing, Drac sends Isaac to go and find him, even if that left him unprotected against Trevor and the gang (bonus for Isaac's underlings whispering to themselves that "the Count cherishes Sir Hector that much" lmao). Isaac himself is quite bitter about this :P at one point he raves that "[he] managed to get closer to Lord Dracula than I", which does not drive me insane or anything :^)
While Hector and Isaac were born "cursed", their Devil Forging powers come from Dracula imbuing them with his own magic. They are his creations, in a way. And Hector is the better one of the two :)
There are plenty of parallels between the two: they both lost their beloved ones in a sham witch trial which drove them mad with anger (but Hector manages to overcome his murderous impulses); Dracula used to be an alchemist in life and Devil Forging in the game is basically very advanced demonic alchemy; both Hector and human Dracula were voiced by Crispin Freeman; Hector kinda looks like a younger Dracula; and they even sit in the exact same, distinctive way.
While Hector hated to be a pawn in Dracula's "ridiculous plot for revenge" and defected, he still respected him. In one manga, he admits that "being recognized and needed filled him with joy", and in the other, he says that he and Isaac "respectfully obeyed, to cling to". In the game proper, he still calls him Lord Dracula in English, and in Japanese he uses the respectful pronoun anata.
bro. bro drac literally calls him precious what are we talking about here
:)
(I sadly cannot convey through screenshot the way Drac squirms against Hec's neck here because boy let me tell you it doesn't look like he's sucking his blood. I just want to point out that, of all the opponents Dracula faced in the games, Hector is the only one that he attacks like this. Just sayin'.)
So yeah, that flashback in the show is interesting in its own way, and while I have some complaints about show Hector and his overall story, the rotten part of me can't help but notice how much the man cares about his Lord's wellbeing and how at first he really just wanted to help him :) but I find more meat to chew on in game canon. It's not really vampire/human lackey, more like Lord/knight and a general story of a victim of abuse freeing himself but still carrying the scars of his past life.
And yeah, going back to Harkula. Something about Dracula's suave yet creepy abusive mannerisms, the way he'd subtly put Jonathan down and make him uneasy, the iconic "Yes, I too can love" line that says so much about Drac's way of loving in general, Jonathan's drive to free himself as that big, comfy castle became a giant prison for him, the anger that accompanied him after his brain fever moment... gave me a Lot to Think about. Love me some terrible old men having complicated relationships with their younger beloveds/preys <3
Again, I'm very sorry to dump you with all of this if you're not interested! I just couldn't help finding the coincidence very amusing and I thought you'd find it amusing too 😭 and again I'm glad I found your blog because somehow I never noticed it lol. Now I must return to my binging to absorb your writing style because it's *chef's kiss* <3
psst, sorry to bother you but. Saw your post and my brainrot was activated lol. While there is a certain dynamic in the CV show (Hector does seem to care about Dracula, although sadly it's not reciprocated), I can guarantee you that the Hecula from the games has more in common with Harkula, mainly the vampire being a tiny bit too attached to his favorite human who at first is enticed but eventually breaks free from him :3 (although I suppose that if you prefer the human to be more obviously attached to the vampire, the show has more of this dynamic)
yeah when I was reading the Jonathan sections in May my brain was blown lol, I was trying to move on from Hecula but Harkula only solidified my obsession for manipulative, obsessed vampires who too can love :<
btw I was browsing your blog and I just noticed that you wrote some of my fav Harkula fics! Esp Ladybugs Don't Fly At Night! I didn't know you had a blog! Thank you for reminding me to catch up with the rest, you have such a way with words and descriptions <3
Oh my god, ahh, thank you so much for this lovely ask!
I don't know, I was just kinda drawn to that scene with the two of them where Dracula comes to ask for Hector's help. Him, looming over his shoulder, the soft voices, the handshake. It just scratches a certain part of my brain. Also I didn't know there was more to go off from the games, so color me intruiged! I honestly do love me such a vampire/human lackey (?) dynamic 👀
Also thanks for the super kind words regarding my fics, so happy to hear you like them! Very deeply appreciate!d Ladybugs was such an interesting fic for me to write, I wasn't sure how it'd work out but I am glad it landed for you! 🖤
#hecula#harkula#<- really should have made myself a tag for this#alas i open up very slowly#i may have. a type

(This is technically in response to the post right below this one, as world building totally counts for it, right?)
Anywho, more fandom thoughts, but for BLEACH this time. I recently started rewatching the anime again for the nth time as part of my language practice (and having the Japanese subtitles on while watching it in Japanese is an experience) and reached that episode where Aizen and co. get rescued by Menos Grande after declaring their intentions to Soul Society. And then a few things hit me.
The first: Rukia says, the first time Ichigo sees her sending someone on via Soul Burial, that one neither feels hunger nor gets sick in Soul Society. We know that this is false for a few reasons.
Those who can become shinigami definitely need to eat and all souls need water which implies that they can suffer from thirst (and perhaps heat exhaustion).
Captain Ukitake is suffering from an unknown disease that makes him literally cough out his lungs. I’ve read something about it being a defect in the make up of his soul that is only not killing him because of the pact with the Soul King’s arm, but I cannot recall if this was canon or fanon (as the Blood War arc was just like that). If so, does this mean that sickness does occur in Soul Society, but so rarely as to not be mentioned? Or does it occur more in the outer districts? Why does it occur?
Hisana died from a sickness as well. Yes, it’s stated to be exhaustion, but I feel like that doesn’t make sense? Like, the flashback in the anime has her abandoning Rukia after she collapses while carrying her around. And she collapses later when she regrets this and goes to look for her sister. And then she dies.
Seriously, why does it occur? It’s weird. And it cannot be an Aizen thing as I’m pretty sure Aizen is younger than Ukitake. Is it because of what happened to the soul king? Does it have something to do with when people get sent on (like if they were close to being a hollow)? Is it because they died while sick? Is it because of their resolve?
...Do we never see sick souls in Soul Society other than them because they usually just. Die pretty soon after arriving?
And if spiritual power leaking is what causes spiritual pressure, and the “vents” can be closed... do people in the districts sometimes close them by mistake and then blow up? Is spontaneous combustion a thing in the afterlife?
The second: I’m pretty sure “Ichirin no Hana” is a love song that Byakuya is singing to Hisana’s memory.
Someone has probably stated this before, but the lyrics of the song literally say how some one, a “single flower,” is precious and can’t be replaced. How that flower bloomed despite being stuck somewhere dark and how they looked lovely but like they were about to wither away. And that the singer would accept all of their pain if only that person would smile and stay with them...
The title of the song also matches the title of the chapter in which Byakuya reveals to Rukia the secrets he’d been keeping from her about Hisana. He uses the same words, “ichirin no hana” to describe the season in which she died
Literally his whole dilema during this arc, the entire way he interacted with Rukia up to this point, was that he was conflicted between his sense of duty (to his parents, his wife and keeping his word) and his feelings for his beloved Hisana. Rukia’s physical resemblance to her sister is almost uncanny and the lie she is told when she asks why she was adopted was, “You look like Byakuya’s late wife.” How much must he have hated that? A person whom he had sworn to protect that, had she arrived two years earlier might have saved his wife’s (after)life? A person that looks just like his beloved, who reminds him of her every time he sees her (for those first 50 years), but is not and never will be Hisana. And then. To know that she’s going to be executed for crimes, that she felt she could not rely upon him enough to even let him know she’d encountered trouble in the human world when he’s been doing his best to ensure she’s safe (because that is one of the few reasonable explanations for why Rukia hadn’t been promoted yet, and then was promoted during the 3 year gap)? To see her stripped of her rank, her strength even (with that collar and the stone of the prison tower). To see a small form who so resembles his beloved all listless and soon to die, wearing a white yukata like his wife had in her last days...
Watching it again made me feel things, okay? Like yeah, it seems like it’s a stupid dilema from some perspectives. Especially considering Central 46 had a run in with Aizen by then, but. Byakuya was raised in the Seireitei. He was raised knowing that his life was the Seireitei’s tool. That his duty, his reason for existing was for the sake of his family’s honor, so he must be composed, must act as the family and Soul Society bid him. That’s some mighty powerful brainwashing/indoctrination right there. And he broke it once already to marry some nobody from the slums. He did something not only against the norms, but something selfish. Maybe if she’d had high spiritual power this would have been accepted, but she was sickly and likely did not. He went against the clan elders who had probably instilled obedience in him since birth and was afraid of doing it again.
(And if you count the filler arcs, you can bet that they held that one Kuchiki who went traitor against him too. Like: “he married that Hisana girl against our orders? What next? Will he betray Soul Society too?”)
And maybe I’m making a bigger deal out of his upbringing than I need to. Maybe it wasn’t really like this. But I feel like it really was. (Moreso with the filler arcs and what I’ve heard of the light novels.)
Also, this song and the way that the opening animation fit together really solidifies the whole “Ichigo and Rukia were always meant to have a tragic romance” vibe that I kept getting the first time I encountered this series.
The third: Rukia was likely younger than six months (physically) when she was abandoned, but I’m pretty sure that she was older than three months when she and Hisana died.
Her blanket was pink in the flashback.
Sure, the above might not seem to have much significance but it’s been proven in canon that clothes are part of oneself. I reblogged a post a while ago that went into detail, but to sum it up, clothes are part of your self image and your self image determines a bit about what you look like when you die.
Babies are usually no longer swaddled by the time they’re six months old, and some places recommend that you stop by the end of their second month.
Babies have pretty bad vision when they’re born. They take four to six months to reliably track objects in motion and use binocular vision decently. They take about four months to see across a room, and about two months to see farther than maybe 30 cm away. And around the three month mark, they start having decent color vision. Around then is when babies supposedly start showing color preference.
Babies tend to have poor long term memory. (To be fair, they’ve got a lot going on compared to being in the womb and sensory overload sucks.) Their memory by the age of six months is only a few weeks. Two months old had a memory span of a few days.
If she’s been consistently wrapped in a pink blanket, then by the time she’s old enough to see color, she would be old enough to remember what color her blanket usually is— or if it was a different color that particular day.
The fourth: when Gin raises his spiritual pressure on Aizen’s orders, Chad remains standing. This raised a bunch of questions as Gin is stronger than Yammy (to the best of my memory).
Chad remained standing. Yes, his whole fight with Captain Kyouraku was about his resolve and how he would stand by his friends and fight for their safety/ideals but. Like. Earlier that year, his spiritual strength was on par with Yuzu. He’d been friends with Ichigo for years which was why he was even that strong. He’d been in a Hollow attack maybe three times before Rukia was arrested and could only barely see them the time Ishida pulled a stupid and used Hollow Bait. Sure, he has experience fighting and he’d trained under Yoruichi, but it feels sus considering how the others fared.
Orihime fell to her knees pretty quickly after Gin turned up the pressure. She’d also fought against high-ranking shinigami at that point, and trained under Yoruichi, and fought off Hollow (alone even! And she was the reason why Sora moved on, despite Ichigo’s Blade purifying him) before. And yet... It could just be a lack of resolve, as that had come up in earlier chapters but it doesn’t feel right.
Ishida is excused from this due to circumstances.
Tatsuki has been friends with him for ages. Sure, it seems like they weren’t as close after his Mom’s passing, but by then they’d already known each other for quite some time. I’m pretty sure that they were hanging out semi-regularly through junior high/middle school, at which point he got close with Chad and she got close with Orihime. She also has experience fighting (admittedly in martial arts rather than the street fights Ichigo and Chad get dragged into). She experienced at least one hollow attack during Ishida’s Stupid Day. But she collapses as soon as Yammy shows up? That feels off.
In contrast, Ganju was struggling about the same amount. He was born to a noble family— who are known to typically have decently high spiritual power, like his older brother Kaien and his cousin/uncle Issin. He was raised in the Rukongai, meaning he likely came across Hollow attacks. (And those definitely occur.)
Makes me wonder things about Karin’s strength. Like, she managed to escape from the hollow who attacked their house to run for Ichigo’s help (manga) or lived long enough while alone with it that Ichigo and Rukia could come save her (anime), both of which are quite impressive for an eleven year old. She also kept up with Hitsugaya when they played soccer and he’s a captain. Based on Ichigo’s experience, it’s likely that she too will become stronger as she grows up. And does she have an inner hollow too, or is that Ichigo only? If White was simply a parasite and decided to stick to Ichigo I could accept it. But as a hollow Ichigo is a Vast Lorde, and hollows of that level can split into parts (like Starrk and Lilynette).
Does Yuzu not really have any spiritual strength because she inherited more of the Quincy genes from her mom and the hollow genes she inherited don’t balance out that same way it does in her siblings...? Food for thought.
TLDR: how and why is sickness as thing in Soul Society? Byakuya listens to rock music and I’m p. sure the third opening song is him angsting over his wife’s death; it also gave me strong feelings about how he was prolly brainwashed growing up so his angst over Rukia’s fate is not actually stupid. I continue to have IchiRuki feels. Rukia and Hisana died when Rukia was about 3 months old. And I am more confused now about how spiritual power works than I was before I started rewatching the anime for language practice. Also, more questions have arisen about hollows.

can you tell me what you think about the kids at 1a?
hi anon, I'm sorry that I took so long to answer this, when I saw your ask I felt really lazy, because there's too many people in the class lol
this is going to be a long post, since we have 20 characters to cover, so I'm putting it under the cut
okay, first of all I want to say that I don't hate any of the kids at 1a besides mineta, BUT, I do have a feeling of indifference towards at least half of them and do dislike some, I always thought that the story would been benefited if there were less people in the classes, since hori would've been able to develop them better, so don't expect me to talk a lot about everyone. also, don't take everything that I say too seriously, this is not a character analysis, I'm just doing it for fun.
anyway, the order that I'm using to list them is their seating arrangement in the class, so let's start
yuga aoyama: I already said this here before but I really like aoyama, he's ridiculous in the best way possible, he feels like a character that horikoshi took away from ouran high school club or something. since the chapter where he and deku became friends were released I felt like he deserved more screentime, because his backstory about him thinking of himself as different than the other kids in the class because of his quirk being "defective" is really interesting, I always wanted to see more of his friendship with deku and he overcoming his fears (since he was shown to be easily frightened)
mina ashido: I LOVE mina, I think that her design is so cool and her personality is really likable, when we had the kirishima flashback and we saw her protecting her friends from machia even though she was scared too was the moment that I decided that we deserved to see more of her in the story, I really liked to see she having a bigger role for a female character in a shonen, I wasn't too bad in the war but I still want more
tsuyu asui: okay, this is going to be controversial because I feel like everyone likes her, but I feel really indifferent towards her, maybe I was influenced by one of my friends that really doesn't like her but since that scene where she says that going to rescue bakugo is the same as acting like villains I started to not care about her all that much, and yes, I know that she admitted that she was wrong and everything but yeah, I don't really click with her personality (but I don't hate her, please don't be mad at me kdbdgsusj)
tenya iida: ah, what a respectable little man iida is, I really like him, I think that the way that he take everything so seriously is hilarious, like him acting super dramatically in their exams to be as similar as possible to his vision of what a villain is. I really like how he grew since the stain arc and how he decided to be a hero that prioritizes the safety of others in detriment to fighting the villains. I'm really happy that he became the focus of the story lately and that he was the one who could hold deku's hand, I want him to have a bigger role in the story for now, maybe even encountering with stain again and showing to him that he's now a great hero
ochaco uraraka: I love her personality, she's really cute, and her fight with bakugo at the beginning of the story was a highlight to me back then, but, I feel like her character became too much attached to deku after aoyama made her realize that she likes him, almost felt like her personality was gone and her only defining feature was having a crush on him, anyway, thank god that apparently she's going to have importance right now in the story because she's too much of a cool character to become just the romance interest for the male lead
mashirao ojiro: denki playing with his tail is cute, I think that is funny how horikoshi always describes him as the plain one, it was cool when he refused to participate in the sports festival because he didn't felt like he deserved
denki kaminari: oh this sweet dumbass, I love him, he's so funny and cute, I think that is that funniest thing how he just decided to call bakugo "kacchan" and is super overly friendly with him and bakugo just lets him, I actually don't think that he's "stupid" as part of the fandom seems to think, I strongly believe that people can be smart in their own ways, maybe he's not the brightest in math for example but he already showed to be able to come up with strategies, I feel like denki has a lot of anxiety inside of him because of his quirk, but i also feel like he's really genuine in trying to be a hero, overall I really like him, he's really sweet
eijiro kirishima: this swee- I mean, super manly man is amazing, I feel like kirishima is for bnha what rock lee was for naruto, I really really really like him, I love his personality and I love even more his backstory, he's really a great person and he deserves all the love that he get from the fandom, I hope that we're going to see even more of him in the future
koji koda: he's adorable, his voice is really adorable the japanese dub, his quirk is like a disney princess
rikido sato: he bakes, I like cakes and pies, we would've been best friends
mezo shoji: since I saw that hori said that he uses his mask because people are afraid of him I'm impatiently waiting for his face to be shown, and if he doesn't look like a junji ito monster or something I'm going to be pretty disappointed, anyway, I like his personality, he was really cool at the forest arc (I clearly don't remember the arcs names, I'm sorry lol), and I feel like he could have a bigger role in the story if hori finally decides to address the prejudice against people with mutant quirks
kyoka jiro: she kind of reminds me of a girl that used to bully me in middle school because of the way that she treats denki but I still like her lol I liked how she learned that is okay liking to sing and music in general and being a hero at the same time, because after all a lot of people were saved by music and/or their favorite artists, but since I find her quirk so cool I wanted to she her fighting more
hanta sero: he's funny, even funnier than denki, he has a really relatable sense of humor and I love him for that, his quirk is really cool, but I feel kind of bad for him because deku now has practically the same one and he's not the only spiderman in the story anymore (his quirk being similar to spiderman was actually what made me like him in the first place because peter is my favorite hero ever)
fumikage tokoyami: my 12yo emo self shakes inside of me every time that I see him, anyway, I really like him, how would I not? he has a bird head, he's nice without being overly friendly and dark shadow is really cute, I don't really remember everything that happened in the war but I remember him saying to hawks that he believes in him, so I really wanted to see him frustrated at his mentor because of what he did to twice please horikoshi address the consequences of twice's death, I'm tired of waiting
shoto todoroki: ah my angel, shoto was the reason why I started reading the manga back in 2015, I knew that he was going to be my favorite just by seeing his character design. I love shoto, I want him to become the happiest person in the world because he really deserves it, I know that everyone thinks that deku is what an ideal hero looks like but o me it is shoto, he's kind, sweet, forgiving, has a heart made of gold and is just genuinely a good person, I could talk about him for a whole week without pause and still find more things to compliment about him so let's move on before I write over 10000 words about how much I love him
tooru hagakure: she... exists...
katsuki bakugo: while shoto is my favorite, I have to admit that bakugo has the best character development in the hero side of the story, I used to hate him at the beginning of the series but now I love him, a lot, he shows that horikoshi knows how to write a compelling redemption arc if he planned it since the beginning, I love that he started only having "fight" points at the entrance exam for ua to now having his first priority at saving people, bakugo is other that I could talk about for hours so let's move on
izuku midoriya: I like deku when he's not putting his nose at the todofam business, he's a good kid who needs some self esteem urgently, the way that he never seemed to care about his own well being always made me nervous, even though I never felt like he was in real danger, he's the mc for a reason, to summarize: I like him personality wise but some of the narrative choices that hori made for him are not my favorites
minoru mineta: I don't care, I hope for him to vanish from existence
momo yaoyorozu: she's the stereotypical anime girl with glasses (but without glasses in this case), I like her personality, she's really cute, her quirk is neat and she's super smart but, everytime that she puts her hero costume on... I feel super uncomfortable... this is not her fault of course but I think that I would like her even more if she was less sexualized
I could write more if I take more time to think, but I'm not going to do that today, if you want to know my opinion about other characters or something more specific about the kids feel free to send me other ask
also, I'm sorry if there's any atrocious grammar mistakes on this, I didn't reviewed the text and wrote just what I had in my head in the moment at four am
#ann replies#anonymous#there's too many characters to tag...#so im going to just#class 1a#yeah that's good enough#bnha spoilers
