I'm honestly a little disappointed in Breyer's quagga. Quaggas had black stripes on their heads, blurring and fading out on their bodies, and a brown base color on their bodies, fading to white on the head. The specimens in museums are all faded to brown, but they would've looked like this while alive:

Even the zebra farm that Breyer was inspired by has black-striped animals with white heads

I don't know why that pattern is so hard to understand, but I've seen Breyer's mistake plenty of times. Lots of companies/artists seem to assume that quaggas were solid brown with white legs and white stripes, from Breyer to Mojo to 2/3 of the artists who show up when you google "quagga sculpture"
