Since being able to play ffxiv, I ended up making my hosie fankids because I Am Weak to character creation lol

But also since I created my hosie fankids here, it got me thinking about what jobs Hope and Josie would have (along with the kids too). So I'm going to put my musings here under the read more if anyone is interested lol

Additionally, the jobs I'll be writing below for the kids are the jobs I will be giving them in the game once I get to unlock it (they're currently in their base class right now and I gotta lvl them up to 30 and do some quests before that)

Hope, even though she's a tribrid, I decided that she would have Dragoon as her job. I also did play around with the idea that her second job would be Red Mage since they use both magic and melee, but I definitely prefer the idea of her as a Dragoon way more. I mean, think about it, Hope with her lance/spear, jumping at great heights, and then plummeting down on her enemies to land hits? Hot.

For Josie, I was stumped between Black Mage or Blue Mage. Black Mage because that would be the obvious choice since it's a magic class. But Blue Mage was also appealing since Blue Mages--from what I've read--mimics the abilities of their enemies, and that felt really fitting since Josie is a Siphoner. However, I decided to stick with putting her as a Black Mage instead. It just felt better to me.

For the kids:

Lana is the first born between Hope and Josie and is a Tribrid like Hope, so my thought process for what job Lana would be is the same as Hope. I just think them being Dragoons is neat and totally not because I am biased lol (okay maybe I'm a little biased, but you cannot tell me Dragoons like Fang from ff13, Aranea from ff15, or even Dion from ff16 aren't badass as hell). Currently her base class is Lancer.

Hayley never inherited the magic genes and is a werewolf. So for her, I picked Monk for her job. She's a tough fighter and is always the one to rush into the front lines. Plus, with the training she got from Hope, Hayley is one powerful opponent. Plus, she has a mean right hook lol. So Monk made perfect sense for me when I chose her job. Currently her base class is Pugilist.

Jay was the same as Josie. Debated between Black Mage or Blue Mage, but I ultimately went with Black Mage foe him. I did think about picking a melee job for him since Jay is also an exceptional fighter when not using/relying on magic. But in the end, I decided to stick to my gut and keep him as a Black Mage. Currently his base class is Thaumaturge.

Leo is the last of my Hosie fankids! He was adopted by Hope and Josie after they found him scared and alone in an alley around Mystic Falls. He's also the only human in a family of supernaturals. He always felt like he's missing out in all the cool things because he's only human. Leo ends up learning about magic and can only create potions that don't require him to use magic or spells, only dumping and mixing ingredients and that's it. So anyways, I decided that with that logic, his job woukd be Scholar. As well as Summoner. Scholar because it would be the closest thing I'd think would fit with what he wants to achieve. And Summoner because I just think it'd be neat for him to be able to summon creatures. Plus, I honestly feel like Leo is just that personable to the point where he'd be befriending all sort of creatures (and giving Hope and Josie mild heart attacks when Leo comes home with a hell hound or something lmao). Currently his base class is Arcanist.

Edit: WAIT I NEED TO ADD ONE MORE THING FOR LEO! I think he'd also be great as an Astrologian as well!!!!!!! I mean I think that job fits pretty well, maybe more so than Summoner if I'm being honest.

Oh! And because Leo is adopted, I chose to give him a different race than the other three in the game. Lana, Hayley, and Jay are all Hyur and Midlander clan. When I was creating Leo, I originally wanted him to be an Au Ra Raen, but the shortest i could go for height was like. 5'7" or something? So I picked Miqo'te Seekers of the Sun instead and then I had a realization: Leo = Lion = Cats = Miqo'te. Unintentional Galaxy Brain lmaooo

headcanons for klaroline being endgame and lizzie josie and hope being sisters?

A/N: I just want to carify this is far far away from any universe where I ship Hizzie or Hosie.

The Mikaelsons happily welcome the three newest members of their family.

Especially after seeing how happy Klaus was on his and Caroline’s wedding day.

Hayley and Caroline patch all the high school drama up and often invite each other to have drinks as they bond over how much of a handful Klaus can be.

Meanwhile Klaus and Alaric refuse to be within less than ten feet of each other.

But Klaus loves the twins like they're his own.

The twins just admire Hayley.

And Caroline assures Hope that she’s not trying to replace her mom.

Freya loves to help Josie with her magic.

She’s also the one to sit down with both her and Lizzie to talk about the merge when they’re old enough.

Rebekah thoroughly enjoys taking Lizzie shopping any chance she gets.

Partly because she loves hearing all the gossip and shit talking, especially about Dana.

Neither Hayley, Marcel, or the rest of the family mind looking after the girls when Klaus and Caroline are away.

Klaus has offered the twins their own rooms but they’re content with sharing.

The girls make for an interesting dynamic.

“Lizzie, I told you to stay out of my room!” Hope angrily barges into the twins’ room.

“I didn’t go into your stupid room.”

“Then how did my headphones go missing?”

“Sorry,” Josie says shyly, putting her book down. “I lost mine so I borrowed them.”

Hope definitely has a bit of a bias towards Josie.

They just get along easier.

 On the other hand, she and Lizzie are always bickering and throwing remarks at each other.

And with the amount of peeple who’ve tried to come after Hope, Lizzie has definitely told her “I too find your existence annoying.”

 Klaus wants to rush to every argument he hears but Caroline says that they need to work it out themselves.

Lizzie and Hope constantly throw the “you’re not my real sister” card at each other.

Until Hope accidentally takes it too far and says “And Caroline’s not even your real mom!” in front of Caroline and instantly regrets it.

Klaus scolds her for it and tells her to apologize.

Since Hope doesn’t rely on Alaric to fulfil a father figure role, his relationship with the twins is healthier.

But with them slowly spending more and more time in New Orleans, that mixed with his resentment towards Klaus, Alaric starts drinking.

Which Caroline finds out when the girls  get back and Lizzie  goes straight to her room without saying a single word.

“Dad’s drinking again,” Josie says before going to cuddle with her sister.

Klaus is ready to tear him a new one but Caroline beats him to it.

Then she files for full custody.

Hope tries to comfort them with ice cream but just ends up joining the cuddle session.

There’s one time where Klaus finds Lizzie in the aftermath of an episode and rushes to make sure she’s okay.

“Do you think I’m broken?”

 His heart aches at the question, “If you’re broken then are a mosaic, your imperfections are what make you beautiful.”

And he later hangs up a mosaic above her bed.

That was their bonding moment.

 For Klaus and Josie’s moment, it was after she went dark.

She isolates herself for a while until Klaus comes to comfort her.

And makes a joke about her still being  a saint on her worst day compared to Elijah on a good day.

Caroline and Rebekah bumping heads when it comes to planning events, like the twins’ birthday party.

Family vacations.

Klaus pushing for Hope to tag along on family excursions.

Klaus being equally over protective of the twins’ dating life.

Josie, as embarrassed as she may be, tries to get her partners to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Lizzie on the other hand decides that sneaking around is the better option.

Until she gets caught.

“You’ve been sneaking out?!” he says, catching her climbing out the window.

“And skipping class,” Hope chimes in.

Which leads Lizzie to bring up Roman to throw some heat off of her.

In your opinion, why do you find Hosie so special?

Good question. I was debating on the approach I should take when answering this. I didn't know whether I should talk about the canon aspect of the show, the sub-textual aspect, the inherit creation and fruition of both Josie and Hope as individual characters, or the LGBT ship factor in today's tv scene - and then I realized, what makes this ship truly special is the combo of all those factors, so I am just gonna go one by one and see where this leads.

WARNING!!! It might get long lol

CANON ASPECT - One of the main things that distinguishes Hosie from many other non-canon ships out there, is that there is a canon element to them. They aren't purely sub textual like, let's say, Supercorp or Swan Queen. And what I mean by that is that IN CANON both Josie and Hope have been confirmed to have liked each other romantically in the past - which not only makes shipping them that much more enticing but it also gives us hope for the future (whether this hope is pointless or not, we have yet to find out). We have proof that they CAN like each other romantically because they already HAVE liked each other romantically.

The canon aspect doesn't stop at them having had romantic feelings for each other though. It continues on in AU episodes where we see them flirting with each other, in dream worlds where one suggests the other should kiss them, in characters teasing them about potential sex dreams they might have had about the other - and this is just the extremely explicit/in your face parts of canon. We could also talk about how the plot line of everyone losing memory of Hope was build as a Hosie focused storyline or how Hope actively sought out Josie's friendship when she isolated herself from everyone else. I could continue tbh because one thing Hosie has is the canon factor in their favor in order to actually pursue a canon romantic relationship and potential endgame.

SUB-TEXTUAL ASPECT - This is by far the biggest factor, as it is with any non-canon (and non-crackship) ship. The subtext in Hosie is heavy, and I will most likely miss a lot of points in this topic but I'll pick the major ones that stand out to me, ok? Like how Hope is the one that keeps giving Josie the push she needs to fight for what she wants - just off the top of my head: Talisman in 1x06; Dream world in 2x16; Josie's speech to Finch in 4x03. Or how Josie is the one Hope always seeks out when she needs someone she can trust, which for a loner like Hope, it's HUGE. Or how they keep framing Hope being in between Landon and Josie, and Hope never liking Josie's love interests, etc.

I won't keep this segment too long. I'll just redirect you to The Edit which puts a lot of this subtext moments in perspective and explains it far better than I could in a far more entertaining way. Enjoy!

INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERS - This segment is about how Hope and Josie, as individuals, compliment each other. You take out all semblance of their relationship - this is not of influence at all in this segment - all you get is the description and bases of each character and you'll see how they just make sense.

Hope is a loner with a big heart, but who has been hurt too much and has lost too much to ever allow people to get close to her because her getting attached to someone means risk of losing them, like she lost her mother and father. On top of her trauma related to death of those close to her, you have the incredible isolation that comes with being the only one of her kind and the knowledge that she is unkillable and will live for all eternity and see everyone she loves die. And to end it short and sweet, she is also loyal to a fault.

Then you have Josie, a siphon witch, who understands the burdens of being one of the few of her kind but comes with the daunting knowledge that she has a death sentence on her back. While Hope has trauma of losing those she loves, Josie has abandonment issues - from her absentee mother, a father who barely pays attention to her, several relationships that ended with her love interests abandoning her, etc. This trauma, doesn't stop her from opening her heart to people, even at the risk of being abandoned again.

So, when you combine these two characters you have someone who is terrified of the death of those she loves vs. a character who is sentenced to die in her early 20s. This leads Hope to have to deal with her trauma of loss instead of staying in the comfort of dating someone who can't die, while on top of that Josie is also one of the few witches on earth who CAN turn into a vampire without losing her magic which means that while Hope would have to deal with her trauma, it doesn't mean she would actually have to suffer losing Josie in the future.

You have someone who isolates to protect themselves from pain vs someone who puts their heart on the line in spite of the pain. Hope and Josie would balance each other out and it also shows that both would fight like tooth and nail to make sure they don't lose each other.

You have two people with the burden of being one of the few/only one of their kind aka an understanding and common ground that not many out there could relate to.

You have someone with abandonment issues vs. someone too loyal and loving to ever leave the ones she loves, no matter what.

And obviously, can't leave forgotten the tormented girl with a heart of gold vs. the sweet girl with a dark side trope.

These two characters were literally created to be soulmates, even if the writers are not aware of it. It's right there in the character description.

REPRESENTATION IN MEDIA - And lastly, the importance and rarity that comes with making this ship canon. We have yet to have a true slowburn LGBT relationship between a lead female character and second lead female character. We ALWAYS get the side characters with a rushed relationship development, usually with a minor character that, if we're lucky, will get a bigger role later on in the show. Or we get the bury your gays trope.

We have had LGBT female leads before, that's not new. It's rare but it's not new. What we never had is the natural progression endgame between two lead characters, who have been developing a relationship since season 1, who have had individual growth throughout the seasons, significant screen time both together and apart, who were not planned as endgame but due to natural development of both the characters and the chemistry between the actors, made the writers actually pursue that relationship.

We NEED this ship to not be another queerbait ship. They have the groundwork to go there and make history. The true question is "will they?".

Kaylee Bryant On "Legacies," The Importance Of Queer Rep On TV, Hosie, And More

"I have so many people constantly telling me that watching Josie on the show has made them feel more comfortable in themselves."

This week, Kaylee Bryant squeezed us into her schedule to talk about their role as Josie Saltzman on Legacies. As a huge Josie fan, I couldn't think of a better way to spend a morning than talking to Kaylee about The Vampire Diaries, Hosie, our favorite books, and more! Here's everything we talked about:

1. What was your audition for Legacies like?

My audition process was very interesting because they kept a lot of it a secret. I had no script and a fake character name. And then I had my second audition, a chemistry read, which Jenny Boyd [Lizzie] wasn't even at. I walked in and immediately just flat-out asked, "This is for the twins, right?" So it was long, but short and intense at the same time.

BuzzFeed: Wait, did you know which twin you were going to be playing?

I initially auditioned for Josie, and then during chemistry reads, they started asking me to read for Lizzie. And then we had our final callback where I finally met Jenny and we both read for both roles. They never told us [who was playing who] until Jenny had her appointment to go dye her hair blonde.

2. What's a typical day on set like?

Gosh, it changes every time. If it's a busy day on set, we're talking like 8 a.m. call time where we spend about two hours on hair and makeup and go straight into rehearsals. If it's a big sort of episode that involves stunt work and wire work, you're talking about doing maybe two scenes in a day. But if it's an average day, we can do anywhere from three to five scenes and we can start at 8 a.m. and wrap at 8 p.m. It really depends. I'm surprised if I'm not surprised.

3. You’ve said you’re a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries. Josie played Elena in the musical episode — what was that like?

It was surreal for sure. They had talked a little bit about doing a musical episode since Season 1. And I always thought that they were joking when they talked about doing Salvatore: The Musical!, so when they said Josie would obviously play Elena, I was like, "Hahaha." And then I got the script and realized I actually was playing Elena. The musical aspect of it was the easy part. The difficult part was, I think, getting into the iconic Elena attire and trying to feel normal. Because we have a lot of crew members that worked on The Vampire Diaries, and they kept coming up to me being like, "This is weird. I feel weird."

4. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve filmed with Courtney Bandeko (Finch) this season?

I really did love the scene that we had in the town square [when] we got on a moped. There were so many fans in the town square that were huddled in the rain — it was pouring rain, freezing cold — trying to snap photos of us. And it was kind of one of those surreal moments where it felt full circle, that I was on a Vampire Diaries spinoff in town square. It was a lot going on, but it was a lot of fun. It's always fun working with Courtney.

5. You and Danielle Rose Russell (Hope) also have amazing chemistry — what’s your favorite scene you’ve filmed together?

Oh gosh, we have a lot that are pretty amazing. Honestly, I'd say [Season 3] Episode 14 — we finally got to do a lot more scenes together. And it's always fun, especially when it's Josie, Lizzie, and Hope, because we have so much history character-wise. Any time you really get to dive into that, we love it.

6. I know Josie and Finch are working through some things right now, but I gotta ask — how do you feel about Hosie?

I love it. Danielle and I loved the idea of Hosie starting from Season 1, and we kept asking and asking and asking for it. So it's kind of funny and full circle that now the fans have kind of taken our side with things, and now they won't stop asking for it. All we want is this beautiful, dynamic relationship. And I think that the fans want that as well.

BuzzFeed: Yeah, I mean, people have even been asking me about Hosie, and I don't work on the show!

Oh, I'm sure! [Laughs] Obviously I love it, though.

7. Is there a particular Josie moment you’re really proud of?

Josie has a scene coming up in Episode 18 — or 19? — I don't know, but it's good. It's sort of the pinnacle of everything that Josie has felt over the past three years kind of culminating into one moment. So, I'm excited for people to see it.

8. You recently came out as queer. How has playing Josie, who’s pansexual, impacted you personally?

I felt a lot of pressure when I initially booked Josie because I was still figuring out who I was and what my label was. And playing a character who was so comfortable in who she was, it was inspiring [to me] in a way that I think a lot of other people watching the show have been inspired. I have so many people constantly telling me that watching Josie on the show has made them feel more comfortable in themselves. It's kind of amazing that we all have the same experience in that having queer representation makes you more comfortable.

9. You’ve been vocal about your Asian identity, and your character has spoken Japanese on the show. Did you have a hand in incorporating that into Josie’s character?

No, not at all! So, I spoke Japanese a few times on the [Instagram] Live and one of our writers, Penny Cox, saw me speaking Japanese and immediately went to Brett [Matthews] and was like, "We need to make this happen somehow." And then all of a sudden, I had a script in my hands. So it was a surprise, but a fun one.

BuzzFeed: Are you fluent in Japanese?

Gosh, no! I'm barely fluent in English. [Laughs] I would say I speak at the level of maybe a second-grader on a good day, though.

10. If you could pitch any storyline for Josie, what would it be?

I always joke that I want an episode that takes place overnight. That way, we all have to be wearing pajamas the entire episode. I just want to wear some comfy clothes for a whole two weeks, that's my main goal. So we can have a pajama episode, that's my pitch.

11. What's it like getting into character for Dark Josie scenes?

It's different in the sense that I know Josie so well. And knowing Josie in turn makes me understand Dark Josie. I have a whole different playlist of music that I listen to for Dark Josie — and I have the wig, which helps a lot with getting into character.

BuzzFeed: Well, now I have to ask what music is on that playlist!

I think "Bury a Friend" by Billie Eilish is a great one for Dark Josie. Also, "Villain" by K/DA is a prime example of a perfect song for Dark Josie, so I listen to that one as well.

12. What's your go-to Starbucks order?

Plain black iced Americano. Aria [Shahghasemi, who plays Landon] says I drink coffee like a sociopath. [Laughs]

13. What TV show are you currently binging?

I just finished watching Alice in Borderland, which is a Japanese show on Netflix. And I know Feel Good Season 2 just came out, so I think that's my next binge.

14. Damon or Stefan?

Stefan! They're both beautiful and I love them very much, but I'm Team Stefan when it comes to Elena.

15. If you could work with anyone from The Vampire Diaries, who would it be?

Ian Somerhalder has a lot of dogs. So, maybe I want to work with him for the sole reason of just talking about dogs. [Writer's note: Kaylee revealed she has two rescue dogs, one whom was sleeping right next to them during the interview! Kaylee described the dogs as "both complete and total nuts," but said she misses them about five minutes after getting into the car to go to work.]

16. Do you think you’re most similar to Josie, Lizzie, or Hope in real life?

I would say I'm an eclectic mix of the three. I can be very headstrong like Hope, very outspoken like Lizzie, and I try to be as loving as Josie, but sometimes that doesn't always work. But I'd like to think all three.

17. Is there a role people would be surprised to learn you auditioned for, but didn't get?

I've been auditioning since I was eight, so there's quite a few Disney Channel shows and movies. And I'm sure people would be surprised because I think I auditioned for like, all of them. It's very funny, one of the first jobs I ever booked in television was Kickin' It with Leo Howard [Ethan]. Talk about full circle — going from being 12 years old and having no idea what I'm doing to being a series regular on [Legacies] and welcoming Leo to the set.

18. Who's your favorite Disney princess?

Oh, I love Mulan so much. She was, like, my first crush ever. I also love Moana, but it's Mulan 1,000%.

19. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I mean, I do eat rice every day. So maybe just white rice — you can make rice into candy and...yeah, let's go with rice.

20. If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one book, what would it be?

Oh no! I recently read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, and I really enjoyed that book. Oh god, Is that the one that I want to bring, though? I mean, I really enjoyed it and it has many different aspects to it. I don't know. Or should I go with Harry Potter? I go through different genres too, like right now I'm in a big sci-fi phase, but other times I'll go the opposite direction and only read biographies. Yeah, that's super hard. I don't think I would know!

21. On that note, what's your Hogwarts house?

Initially, when I was younger, it used to just be straight-up Slytherin. And now, I recently took the Sorting Hat Quiz and I got Ravenclaw. So I'm going to go with Slytherclaw.

BuzzFeed: What's Josie's house?

Josie would be Slytherin. She tries very hard and, you know, not everyone in Slytherin is evil. She just, you know, has her way of going about things.

22. Has anything super funny or embarrassing happened to you on set?

I trip a lot on set. I get scared very easily — if I come around the corner and somebody is walking the other direction, I get scared. Everybody knows to walk slowly around me because I get scared so easily.

23. What's your wildest fan story?

I've had people cry before. And I'm an empath, so if somebody starts crying, I immediately am like, "Please don't cry, because I'm gonna cry." And then it turns into this whole thing. Once we were shooting in the town square and this young girl with her mom started crying, and I just hugged her and I didn't know what to say. So there's a lot of that. There's also the occasional, "Where's your twin?" and...I don't have one, sorry! But yeah, I would say the people who cry always throw me for a loop.

24. How do you unwind after a long day?

I have an hourlong drive home from work, so I usually listen to a lot of music. And by the time I get home, taking off all of my makeup is very therapeutic. Because over time, we're working 13-hour days, 16-hour days, and it's just powder constantly building up on my face. So, washing my face is always very therapeutic. And then just laying back and reading a book and petting my dog is the best.

25. Is there a celebrity you get told you look like a lot?

Most recently, Sara Waisglass [from Ginny & Georgia and Degrassi]. We follow each other on social media now and I completely messed up because I don't know how Twitter works at all. I forgot that there's a DMing interaction, so we followed each other and I was like, "Oh, that's nice." And then just recently, I saw that she had messaged me being like, "We're twins! We should be friends!" And I immediately messaged back, "I'm so sorry, let's be friends!"

26. Who's your biggest celebrity crush?

Oh, I have so many. But consistently since I saw Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany. Hands down.

27. Finally, have you ever caught someone watching a TV show or movie that you're in on a flight or anywhere else?

We were all, as a cast, flying to — was it New York Comic Con, or San Diego Comic Con? — one of the Comic Cons. And we were all sitting there and we saw that Legacies was actually on the airplane as an option. And we were all just uncomfortably staring at each other. Yeah, that was surreal.

whyyy are the writers being so weird about this phone it's giving the same energy as when they had josie say to alaric that caroline had told her they had a friend in town she could stay with and that specific way it was said made it sound like just one person who she didn't know at all.... and then went on to reveal that it was delena

like to me it felt pretty blatant that the phone call was josie cause why else would it open with him talking about how he was missing his daughters that day (so therefore i'm glad that you my daughter josie have checked in) i don't really get how other hizzies can read that differently. it is weird to not confirm it the next episode when hope turned her humanity on like what purpose does dangling that serve the story? esp when obvi the writers know hosies accuse them of baiting every day

i feel like in that other instance people were guessing mfg members, namely elena or bonnie, but yeah. and in this case, i understand some ‘omg who!!’ (namely from alaric using a detached tone), but the asking about lizzie makes it more likely than a lot of these other guesses. i understand people hoping for caroline as well though.

either way, if it’s meant to be a surprise/still vague/something meant to be explicitly addressed at a later episode, i feel like it’s better to (1) not respond to people begging for clarification (2) say exactly what layne did. because if it’s so ‘obvious’ and ‘shouldn’t be a question’, why not answer them, lmfao? some of them aren't even being particularly rude about asking, they just want to know so they and everybody else can stop arguing about it, and i'd be frustrated with a goofy non-answer as well.

She’d been feeling off lately… After coming back to school she felt lonely. She’d brought Ethan with her after she realized he’d triggered his werewolf curse but  he’d been swept up by Jed and the pack. She was happy for him… really she was. He found a family there just like everyone else did but she couldn’t help but miss him… The two of them had become really close. He was like a brother to her and it made her sad that she didn’t spend as much time with him anymore. 

As for everyone else… they were busy. While she was away Lizzie and Hope had practically become attached at the hip, welcoming in Cleo and quickly becoming a tightly knit group that Josie just didn’t seem to fit into. Lizzie had even moved into Hope and Cleo’s room leaving Josie all alone when she came back. Josie was happy for her sister… she was glad she was prioritizing her mental health and becoming a better version of herself.. It just hurt that it was all happening without her.  MG, Jed and Kaleb had all become quite close as well… Josie felt Raf’s absence a lot more than she wanted to… The two were a lot alike in many ways and she missed her friend. 

A knock at the door pulled Josie from her thoughts, she quickly wiped the tears that fell from her eyes before inviting whoever it was to come in.

It was Hope

“ Hey… I didn’t see you down at the party and Lizzie said you were up here so I figured I’d come see how you were doing and maybe convince you to come down “ there was a tone of hopefulness in Hope’s voice that made Josie want to cave and give into whatever she wanted.

“ I don’t know Hope I just- “ Josie paused… she didn’t want to burden Hope with her stupid problems… Hope was dealing with a lot. She’d lost Raf and now Landon… she was finally happy and at peace and Josie couldn’t ruin that.

A look of concern spread across Hope’s face… she knew Josie like the back of her hand so she knew something was wrong. She quickly made her way over to Josie’s bed motioning for her to move over. She took off her shoes and climbed into bed next to Josie, facing the younger girl and snuggling under the covers. 

“ Hope please go- I don’t want to ruin your night “ Josie whispered 

“ Not knowing if you’re okay is what would ruin my night Jo…. we haven’t really been the same since the whole Landon thing but you're important to me and I need you to know that and I need you to know that I’m always going to be here for you… no matter what “ 

Josie sighed as she felt tears fill her eyes. 

“ You don’t have to keep everything bottled up Josie… I’m here “ Hope reassured

On the rating of 10, how do you rate the writing of each legacies characters, why and who deserves better? What aspects should be improved?

I updated some of the opinion for clarity and also added Finch because I forgot her originally

I'll just make a list and go down it and I'm sorry in advance I love responding but I'm horrible at grammar/punctuation and also I might tend to ramble but I'll try to be as concise as possible. It should also be noted anything I state that might possibly relate to ships is a personal opinion and I have nothing against any ships/characters gay or straight/Good or Evil. However would it be said that I definitely mean more towards the gay/Badass with a Golden heart side of shipping with any fandom.

Hope Mikaelson- As of now I would rate her writing at about a 6. And I only say that because as we know a majority of her characters personality slightly has always but this season especially related to her relationship with Landon. And I wish we would see the Badass Tribrid Hope we've been promised since season 1 I mean sure there are no lack of examples of her bravery and martyrdom. But I am tired of her always feeling down on herself and like she's a cosmic mistake when it has literally been proven by Lizzie's wish in season 1 that their life would be infinitely shittier without her. What they can do to improve it is have her focus on friendship and herself instead of trying to always focus on Landon. She deserves more than just to be a boy obsessed character I mean she's the daughter of Klaus F****** Mikaelson for Pete sakes she literally descends from the most powerful supernatural family ever to exist and is rightfully the most powerful being on the f****** planet.

Note: I found Handon's relationship cutesy in season 1 but now not so much especially since they use him dying as a plot line way too often it just doesn't have the same effect that used to***

Josie Saltzman-As of now I would rate her writing at about an 8. I like how her character at least for a while had her own storyline going off the mystic falls High School plotline and how she lived with delena because it was a good call back for us TVD fans but I think it could have definitely lasted longer than a few episodes. We all know it was just used as a lot device to introduce Ethan as a series regular and as an introduction for her to Finch's character. But overall I feel throughout the seasons she has experienced at least some personal growth as exhibited even in 3x15 where she admitted she has to stop saying sorry especially to Lizzie for not always jumping to do what she needs / she wants all the time. Whereas before Android AU version aside because she literally had to do what she was programmed to do. She has an exhibited that she's starting to do what she needs to do for Josie before others most of the time or she's trying to. And as far as her relationship to Finch well I don't see them being endgame I have no problem with them and I do see Finch being one of her major loves of the series that teaches her whatever lesson she needs that leads her to whoever her endgame love is. With her relationships I will always miss Posie and I wish they could get Lulu back at least just for one episode. Also I feel these last two episodes of the girls being a trio they have a really Been serving Hosie with the looks but also I feel like in general Josie and Hope have been really in f****** tune. In conclusion I just don't know because Kaylee's acting skills and just turning general I would rate a billion she could choke me and I would literally thank her.

Lizzie Saltzman-as of now I would rate her at about a 7. I feel as if she has had great personal growth over the series and hell even this season. I also like hell despite everything in her life especially her eternal struggle with her mental illness she is always trying to do better and not just for herself but mainly for others and some people would say that's not good but I like it because it truly shows what she stated in 1x03 during the gargoyle incident that she never wants to be the bad or evil one. She has all this s*** thrown at her being called broken, being seen as the lesser than sister, and not to mention the absentee parents. Yet through all this she manages to only get stronger especially once she builds a genuine friendship with hope. However what I will say is that I don't like the regression of her friendship with Hope in correlation to her progress of especially her mental illness. And what I mean by that is it's almost been shown that once she had even the seeds of a true friendship with Hope that Hope would never give up on her hell not but like even an episode or two into their newly formed friendship in S1 Hope went to Josie when she Lizzie was on the verge of a bad episode and "sweet" Josie was basically like fuck her she needs to fall on her ass for once and Hope ass was appalled y'all she was like Lizzie can't control her brain chemistry and was so defensive/protective it's like once they got over that hurdle that mainly Josie gave them everything clicked into place and they were almost instant bff's. So for them to do so good in season 2 and then it seems like it showed especially in these last several episodes black magic incident to bring Landon back aside that Lizzie's old issues of resentment and jealousy towards hope are starting to come back and I don't like that because the more Lizzie had A Friend in Hope it seems like the better she got at coping and doing better mentally.(sorry if this has been a confusing several sentences). And no by that I do not mean that Lizzie is mental progress has solely relied on Hope but I do think it has helped significantly for her to have a true friend. Also let it be noted now out of every ship though I should Hosie too HIZZIE is my #1 ship on Legacies two phenomenally beautiful woman also the enemies to friends to lovers trope *chef's kiss*which might be plausible as I always wondered what they meant in the Hosie crush confession scene of season 1 when Josie said that she always went after everybody josie liked hinting that Lizzie might be at least bisexual or maybe that was just what Josie perceived at like 12/13 years old. Also on the note of relationships Mizzie was a cute concept at the beginning but I do love the fact that MG is finally finding himself and standing up for himself but he did also do it and I kind of a******-ish way towards Lizzie. And that's all I can say for her. Actually I could probably write a novel on this women and also Hizzie but I won't lol.

Alaric Saltzman- As of now I would give him a rating of like a 4 . In the last several episodes I think he's been trying to make progress at being a better person but that's about all I can say I'm not an anti. But he definitely will not be winning the father of the year award anytime soon and like many people have pointed out he was a great guardian to Elena and Jeremy so he has the potential in parenting he obviously just ain't using it or lost it over the decades. I don't hate him but I do believe they're doing a discredit towards the better man he was in The vampire Diaries especially at the beginning.

Landon Kirby-His writing is like a 3. He is just there to be arm candy for hope. Until the last couple episodes where he became this for once realistic not optimistic hardened badass he literally brought nothing to The season other than someone for Hope to obsess over. And to be someone that they repeatedly kill for shock value even though it literally shocks no one anymore. I don't hate his character but he doesn't tickle My Fancy as much anymore. His character has a lot of potentialy especially if they ever bring back in his Phoenix side and truly explore it beyond his almost endless ability to revive and being a "Bird Boy" lol. I mean truthfully they're doing him a disservice Aria is a phenomenal actor who could take his character places if they just let him be more than a basic ass plot device. Also can we talk about how gorgeous of a man Aria is especially in these last few episodes looking love it and fine as f***.

As it has become apparent to me I ramble too much and I just don't have the capacity as it is now almost 1:00 in the morning my time to do anymore characters in depth so I will be doing a simple excerpt for the rest now that I have done the main 5 people.

Kaleb Hawkins- His writing is a 8. I do like how he's coming to himself over the years and is a a right hand man to Alaric now instead of being just a uncontrollable vampire(the only hate on this part not towards Kaleb but Alaric is that it shows he will virtually mentor/uplift almost any teen that ain't his own daughters). Though in my opinion he always kind of had a point on some things especially about the hypocrisy of Alaric in season 1 especially on the bmood drinking thing. Him and Mg's relationship is awesome I'm glad they made up in the last episode and our brothers again. Also I was rooting for him and Cleo I think they would be a cute little couple. Also I need his backstory immediately especially after saying to Cleo the last time he was vulnerable he died I need to know how he turned.

Milton Greasley(MG)- His writing is a 9 the season. I say that because he is really came into his own and stopped being the punching bag. Though I think the idea or used to think at least that him and Lizzie would be cute together I am proud of him for standing up to Lizzie finally even though I liked him always being there for her I was tired of him being a fallback for her when it didn't work with whoever however I do think he could have went about the rejection a little bit gentler especially with how he knows of Lizzie's emotional problems. And don't even get me started on Alyssa that was just a disaster that should have never even been brought to fruition her cheating with Jed was probably the best thing that could have happened. I liked his little side adventure with Ethan though I do think they could have wrote it a little better I was sad when he had to compel the memories away like they still could have been friends he just couldn't have known about the supernatural stuff also I'm still not convinced Ethan won't become supernatural later in the series if he stays on. And that's all I have to say on that one love my baby.

Jed Tien-His writing I can't really give a writing I don't think it's horrible but I do think overall they could give him a better plot line as a series regular other than just being used for the comical relief eye candy/mentioning how he's the alpha. Though it was funny the whole pool tournament to decide who was alpha will Finch was just exactly that so bad it was laughable. However I do respect the fact that he even admitted to her that he knew she threw the game and that he is a genuine man of his word and has become better over the series from like this dumb jock stereotype to this genuine dude the Alyssa incident aside. He is a cinnamon roll and I will protect him at all cost.

Ethan- Again as he just became a series regular this season and barely showed up in his premiere season. I will not be rating him in any traditional sense. His writing is not totally horrible I liked his adventures with mg they could have been written better and they still could have let him be MG's friend without supernatural knowledge instead of compelling the friendship completely away. And I am still not convinced he will not become supernatural in some way depending on how long he stays in the series truthfully it's actually almost inevitable unless they go the whole route of making him the Matt/Token Human of the show which I really hope they don't I mean he can stay human but don't make him a supernatural hater.

Cleo-her writing is 10. I say that because she has been a phenomenal character and I've never seen the actress before but she is obviously phenomenal as well. I like her whole connection to Malivore and how it's a legitimate one that seems to be interwoven with the story that's already been presented and add something new. I also like how she tried and really wanted to genuinely be friends with all the characters especially hope but at the same time she was also very realistic and new probably and truthfully the only way for Malivore to be defeated was for Hope to Go full Tribrid and she wasn't above actually trying to murder hope to save herself and just get rid of Malivore which I can't blame her.

Malivore-after the end of season 3 / the first couple episodes of season 4 which were supposed to be the original ending to season 3 I better never hear the name again I am so tired of it this should have ended like at least a season ago at this point it's dragging on. This was supposed to be a monster of the week type of series which is okay me personally I have always appreciated having one big bad of the season and then a couple of minor baddies that get their characters arcs and take a few episodes to defeat or something as like a B or C plot. Point being is that this character and plot line has gotten stiff as can be. To be honest I think half of us aren't even here for plot line anymore we just want to see which of our ships get together.

Finch-I am loving her character and I do think she's cute with Josie. Also I stan anyone who is a sarcastic b**** Queen. I think it's nice how her will backstory was different than the traditional one but also I hated how sad it was like she literally didn't even know what she was doing. Though I will say calling Lizzie the "evil" twin that she can fight me because you don't talk about my blonde cinnamon roll like that is based on one impression from something that was only meant and done out of a good place and Lizzie's heart trying to find out her backstory. But other than that I have no real qualms with this character and it is too early to have a real in-depth analysis/opinion of her.

How do you think the writers would approach Hosie in the show? Not what you want to happen but what you think the writers will do when the time comes to introduce a romance between Hope and Josie? Like how do you think they’ll legitimately hint that there is something going on between them and how their dynamic would change?

Ohhhhh so saying how i think they will make it happen instead of what i wanted to happen is HARD!!! but im gonna try, even tho with Julie we never know so i have 5% probabilities of guessing right jdfhsdjfdhf

I think that for now they wont focus on hosie, also kaylee said that there’s still jasie scenes, but once landon is back ( he’s probably gonna comebck as malivore but they will find a way to save him) i think his relationship with hope is probably gonna have some “problems”, in episode 14 hope already told raf that it seems like there’s always something between them + with all this raf killing landon will probably make hope sad because she couldnt save him and that will make their relationship even more complicated, because hope feels like she has to be the one saving him and if something happens to landon she always feels like she’s the only one to blame. So with that just like hope helped josie in so many things and was always there for her josie will also help hope going through all this. 

They both had a crush on each other so somehow the feelings still there and we can see that because they’ve always been so soft with each other…clearly hope is the one showing it more often, she’s always there to save josie, she truly believes she’s strong and powerful and wants josie to belive in herself, she didnt said everyone she was back because she was afraid that josie would hate her, even tho she knew that josie was mad at her she went to her and helped her with the sandclock etc. anyway josie also shows how much she cares for hope, since episode 1..she helped hope with black magic even tho they shouldnt use dark magic, she knows how strong hope is and always belives in her! Even tho she didnt remember hope she was the one who got more affected with hope returning and she went to see freya because she wanted a push to do the right thing, she knew that she needed to bring everyone’s memories even tho the consequences of that. She wanted hope to stay at the school. When landon choose hope ofc she felt hurt but again she forgave hope and landon because she knew she needed them in her live (just like she said) She (as pig) suggested hope to kiss her…i mean…okay…and she wanted hope to leave because she didnt wanted her to get hurt! So clarly there’s feelings there.

Now ofc that if they start spending more time together that will make them realize their own feeling somehow (because i think they didnt realized yet) Josie doesnt even know that hope had a crush on her….i think if she knew that would have a big impact in her. I think that they will probably try to hide those feelings and fight them because they’re not even sure what they’re actually feeling. 

Hope is really closed when it comes to relationships, with landon she also tried to hide her feelings and tried to “hate” him so she wouldnt admit she had feeling for him because like she said 1000 times she’s afraid of getting close to people because she doesnt want to loose them. So i think if julie really is thinking about making hosie happen then would also be something like hope trying to hide her feeling so that she doesnt get hurt..also with landon Josie was so bold even tho she was shy lol but i feel that with hope, josie will just be shy and not wanting to admit her feelings + she already had a crush on hope (that she doesnt know that was corresponded) so she probably will be scared of letting herself feel the same again BUT EVENTUALLY THEY WON’T BE ABLE TO HIDE IT FOR TOO LONG and judging by how hope always approach josie and literally said she wouldnt go back to the school if that meant hurting josie + how she said “i miss you” like that!!! i think it could be hope the one speaking about how she feels first! 

Now after that 1) josie would also admit how she feels and they would be together (and all shy and that because i know they would) or 2) josie would push hope away because again she was confused about her feelings and also afraid of having another relationship and getting hurt.

All this if julie decides to make hosie happen, BUT if she doesnt make hosie happen then i will just cry in the corner and give up on humanity

Also as the anon asked this is what i think it could happen doesnt mean that this is what i want to happen (at least all of it lol there’s things that i want to happen just like i said here jdhsjfsdf) anyway this is probably a big mess im so bad at expressing my ideas they always look better when i think about them then when i actually write them lol so sorryyyy

“Me Again” chapter 1

here’s my Hosie fic that’s a continuation after 2:16 where the Mikaelsons put Hope into a new body until they can figure out how to wake her up. 

The rumors spread like wildfire throughout the school the moment that the Mikaelsons set foot on campus carrying a coffin. Josie heard the news within 5 minutes and in 7 she was running through the halls towards her father’s office, the super squad hot on her trail. The door was locked which normally wouldn’t have been a problem, she would have used her magic to open the door, but she didn’t have it anymore. She felt like she was missing a limb sometimes, but maybe she needed to figure out who she was without magic to learn who she was with it. 

Lizzie opened the door. It basically flew off its hinges, revealing the room packed with Hope’s assorted family members, some Hope recognized and some she didn’t, but the elephant in the large wooden box polished to a shine, with an ornate M carved on the top sitting where her dad’s desk should be. She didn’t have time to contemplate where her dad’s desk went.

Josie’s emotions got the better of her as she rushed into the room and she blurted out,   ” Hope isn’t dead she’s just asleep,” the thought of Hope in that coffin made her sick to her stomach, especially since it was all her fault. The guilt stopped her from sleeping at night, it also managed to stop her from getting out of bed most days, which just left her with a lot of time to think. “ please don’t do this,” her voice was shaking and for a moment she feared showing this much weakness in a room filled with the most vicious creatures to ever walk the earth, but she couldn’t stop herself. 

“We know that Josie,” Freya answered, being the only Mikaelson in the room that knew her personally,” but you have to trust us. We would never do anything to hurt her.” Josie knew she was right. 

“Kids you need to let us handle this,” her dad said, in an entitled voice, like he’s forgotten just who’d been the ones protecting the school and fending off all the monsters, and surprise it wasn’t the adults. “Please give us the room,” 

“No way, if this is about Hope we have a right to be here too,” Landon spoke up and they all pushed further in the room, shutting the door behind themselves. 

“Let the kids stay Ric, they obviously care about her too and what’s the harm,” Josie didn’t recognize the man who spoke up for them but he had his arm around Rebekah so if she had to make a guess she’d say he was Marcel. 

Her dad looked like he wanted to push this but Freya spoke up before he could,” Let’s get started. Where’s my niece Alaric?” as he moved to open the bookcase and get a still unconscious Hope, Freya turned to talk to the pretty brunette, small in stature, standing next to the coffin,” Davina will you prep the body?” 

Much to everyone’s surprise, the coffin wasn’t empty, inside lay an unconscious young girl with dark skin, dressed in clothes from an era that Josie couldn’t place but she knew it definitely wasn’t recent. Kol removed her from the coffin like she weighed nothing and laid her on the ground. Davina lowered to the ground so she was kneeling by the body, and placed her hands on the girl’s head. She closed her eyes and started muttering to herself. 

Her dad appeared with Hope in his arms but she was quickly taken by Rebekah and placed in the coffin. She closed the bottom half so only Hope’s face was visible, and she started murmuring,” Don’t you worry about a thing now darling, you are going to be just fine,” she touched Hope’s hair lightly,” and this old box is much comfier than it looks I promise, very spacious.” she was laughing slightly now, and Josie couldn’t understand how. Here she was putting her niece into a coffin because no one could figure out how to wake her up and she was laughing. 

“You can’t just do this,” Landon spoke up, his entire body was tense, clearly distressed by the sight of his girlfriend like this, and Josie couldn’t really blame him. “She doesn’t need to go into that box, we can help her, we can wake her up,” he was close to screaming now and had definitely caught the attention of all of her family members. 

It seemed like none of them were going to answer him so apparently Mg took that as his queue to talk,” so I think we’re all ignoring a very important thing here. Is Hope British?” Josie slumped against her sister, this was all too much. 

Lizzie seemed to be thinking the same thing,” Oh my god someone hit him for me,” she growled. Kaleb was more than happy to oblige by giving Mg an annoyed smack to the back of the head. Kol was laughing to himself but Rebekah didn’t find it nearly as amusing. 

“I’ve been called many things in my life but a Brit!” she exclaimed making a face,” I should eat him for that,” 

“Peace sister,” Freya interrupted, she was lighting sage and waving it over the body of the unknown girl,” These children know not what they say,” she and Davina were prepping the body, but for what? How could this random girl help wake Hope up? Freya has a thousand years of acquired knowledge and power if anyone can figure out how to wake up Hope it would be her. 

While Josie’s mind was spinning trying to figure out the Mikaelsons plan, her friends seemed to be stuck on the whole European accent thing. “Where are you from then?” Raphael asked. 

“Everyone just be quiet please,” Lizzie hissed. 

“We’re from Mystic Falls,” Kol answered. That wasn’t news to either of the twins, they’d grown up on the stories of this town, watered down of course, but as they grew they figured it out for themselves. However, Kol must have noticed the shocked looks on the other’s faces,” I thought you were supposed to be teaching these kids Ric. I guess they’re failing history class,”

“We’re ready,” Freya stated standing, effectively ending the conversation. Josie leaned forward in her seat. Her heart was in her throat, this was on her, whatever happened to Hope was on her shoulders. Hope was in this state because she was trying to save Josie, from herself, from all the black magic she’d consumed and Josie had done this to her. Some dark alternate version of herself, but still her. 

Davina moved to the far side of the room to stand by Marcel, leaving Freya alone to do the spell. She placed her fingers on Hope’s temple and began chanting, Josie didn’t recognize the spell, which was strange once you’ve learned the basics you can recognize them in most spells. She could pick up bits and pieces of words that she recognized, but none of these words were familiar to her. What kind of magic was this?

The body of the ground seized, and then sat upright, eyes flying open in panic and confusion. All of her friends shuffled around her, muttering and watching this new player in their strange game of chess. “What’s going on?” she gasped looking around at all the people around her,” Aunt Freya?”

“I’m right here sweetie, just breathe,” Josie’s heart beat out of her chest, and she brought her hand to her mouth as the realization of what had happened washed over her. “You’re going to be a little disoriented for a while but it will get better,” 

“I don’t understand. What’s going-” Hope stopped mid-sentence as she saw her body in the coffin. She scrambled back, sliding on the ground away from her body and her family. Josie could only imagine how strange this all was for her,” What the hell is this?” she screamed. 

Hope lifted her new arm up into her line of sight and examined it. Her fear seeped out of her as the pieces clicked together in her mind. “Your body is compromised, Hope, so we put you into this one until we can figure out how to wake you up,” Rebekah said and Hope sucked in a deep breath, before picking herself off the ground and going to the mirror. For a body that wasn’t Hope's, the look on her face was Hope to a T, concerned but curious and somehow completely pissed at the same time. 

She paused for a moment examining her face and her hair,” we can’t just do this. I can’t just take over this woman’s body. What’s going to happen to her?” Hope exclaimed, unlike the rest of her family she was not ok with living inside someone else’s head. 

“She’s completely safe, her mind has been tucked away and when we get you back in your body she will go back to normal.” 

“Trust us, Hope,” Marcel started with a grin,” this is much better for her than where she was before,” Josie wasn’t sure what he meant but she didn’t like the way he said that. But by the look on her face, Hope had figured out whatever he was trying to imply. Instead of confronting whatever was going, Hope turned back to the mirror and brought her hand to her teeth. Her back was to Josie, so she couldn’t see what Hope was trying to do. 

After a moment she was satisfied and turned back, now ready to pick a fight,” Please- please tell me you didn’t dig this woman up from the garden and stick me in her body,” Hope was trying her best not to scream, she was physically shaking as she spoke. Josie’s mind spun, everything they said went over her head but she imagined that was a good thing. The silence that followed was the only answer Hope needed,” Oh god I’m in the body of a criminal,” 

Hope wrapped her arms around herself, making herself smaller. “She’s not a criminal, she was a scapegoat for a family of criminals,” he said it so nonchalauntly like it didn’t matter. 

“That’s horrible,” Hope exclaimed.

“That’s politics,” Marcel responded,” but once you’re out of her head, her sentence is over and she’s a free vampire again,” 

A lady Josie hadn't even noticed standing in the corner spoke up for the first time,”Besides, you’ll like this more than the other option, one of the crescent wolves volunteered,” 

Hope paled and her eyes widened,“You’re right Keelin I do prefer this plan,” things settled after that, everyone started cleaning up and preparing the coffin for travel. The super squad stayed pushed back into the corner, staring at Hope like she was the new monster they needed to fight. Hope turned from them, refusing to meet their eyes. Josie’s heart hurt, this was all her fault and Hope was suffering the consequences right now. 

After everything was ready to go, Freya turned back to her niece,”It’s time to go now sweetie,” the way she said it implied that Hope was leaving with them. Hope made a face, she didn’t like this suggestion either. 

“Wait- wait I’m not going with you, not right now,” Hope stammered. The room was tense, it was Hope’s will against her family’s and Josie couldn’t imagine the fallout. The Mikaelsons all exchanged glances, like they knew this was coming. 

Freya sighed, resigned, and Kol looked like we wanted to say I told you so,” We figured that’s what you’d say love, so you can stay but under one condition.” 

“And what’s that?” Hope asked. 

“Absolutely no monster hunting,” Rebekah answered, crossing her arms.

 Hope surged forward, upset,”No that’s not fair, I have to protect this school” she waved her arms motioning to everything around her desperately. 

“That is not your responsibility Hope,” Freya said,” and besides if something were to happen and this body died, the original owner would die and you would get sent back to you’re original body,” 

It was Hope’s turn to be resigned. Her aunt made a good point, she lost half of her defenses and the one she still had she had no clue how to use. She was effectively a baby vamp. The school lost its best defender too, they would have to learn to handle the monsters without her. Without Josie too, Hope always told her that Josie was stronger than she knew but right now her magic was just too unstable, she was too unstable. Leaving the school undefended was just another thing Josie could add to her guilt list. 

Hope’s family left after a long goodbye filled with hugs leaving them all alone in her dad’s office. For the first time Hope turned to face her friends, she wouldn’t meet their eyes. She curled in on herself, making herself smaller, it was the smallest Josie had ever seen Hope look, which was strange considering that this new body was taller than Hope ever could be. 

Josie wanted to go to Hope and take away all the sadness and discomfort in her eyes, but Landon spoke up before she could,” Will someone tell me what the hell just happened,” he yelled. His words shocked Josie but they made Hope shrink into herself even more. How could he do that, couldn’t he see how shaken she was right now. Him yelling would only make this worse. 

Hope turned and ran from the room, barely stopping the tears from rolling down her cheeks. Josie remembered all the hurt Hope had been through as a child, how she dealt with it all alone, choosing to push people away instead of letting them in. Josie couldn’t let that happen again, after all Hope had done for her, she couldn’t let her go through this alone. So she followed her from the room, leaving everyone dumbfounded, hopefully her dad could explain everything, but right now Josie didn’t need to know the logistics she just needed to know that Hope was ok.

Hope was much faster than she used to be, she disappeared quickly and Josie went all the way to her room without ever catching sight of her. Hope’s door was closed but unlocked, so when Hope didn’t answer Josie let herself in. Hope sat with her back turned on the bed, she’d changed from her period clothing into comfy clothes that suggested that even though it was still early in the morning Hope had no plans of leaving her room.

“Hey are you ok?” Josie asked slowly making her way across the room. 

Hope turned to her putting on a good face,”I feel like I should be asking you that,” she joked lightly. 

“I’m serious Hope, “ she pushed, stopping a few feet away from the bed,” It doesn’t take a genius to tell you’re upset,” 

“I’ll be fine,” Hope said, finally turning to face her, her face softened when she saw Josie. She sighed ,” Come here Jo, you look like someone just kicked your puppy,”

She wanted to laugh but she just didn’t have it in her, instead she just moved and sat across from Hope. “I’m so sorry Hope, this is all my fault,” the words spilled out of her. She’d been carrying this guilt for so long, she just needed her to know, not that an apology would make this any better. 

“It’s ok Jo, I knew what I was getting myself into when I went inside your head,” she shrugged her shoulders and met Josie with a soft smile.

Josie scoffed, unable to believe what she was hearing,”You can’t just do that, forgive me, I don’t deserve it,” 

“Then it’s a good thing that you don’t get to chose when you’re forgiven,” 

She reached and grabbed Josie’s hands in her own, trying to make her feel better, but Josie couldn’t handle it. She pulled away and made to leave,” I better go, I’m sure you want to be alone,” 

She was halfway to the door, desperate to get back to her room and hide back under her covers, letting herself drown in her guilt again, but Hope seemed to have a different plan,”Are you planning on going to class today?”

“No,” Josie whispered. Truth be told she hadn’t been to class since she became herself again. 

“Well then why don’t you stay here with me,” she asked,” we don’t have to talk or anything. I just have the feeling that neither of us should be alone right now.”

Things have to be said about the Legacies Musical episode...

When this episode was announced as a tribute to TVD and TO’s music, I was super excited but, as soon as they came out saying it was actually gonna be a musical about TVD and TO, I had a feeling it was gonna be a shit show.

I am happy to report that it was actually better than I thought, although it had quite a few misses for me - but let’s start with the good.

Fair warning, this post is Anti-Handon

One of the things I liked about this episode was the Monster of the Week. I am honestly done with the format of a new monster every episode but at least this one was refreshing and it had me guessing his true intentions all through the episode. He was charismatic, funny and just interesting to watch. Plus, his initial sequence with MG was one of the funniest the show has ever done lol 

He did break Josie’s arm and for that he will never forgiven but at the same time he gave Hope some very much needed comfort and he got bonus points for that.

Another positive was Caroline’s ‘cameo’. I feel like it’s a long time coming and I don’t know why we didn’t get it sooner but it warmed my heart to see her help Lizzie going through all her insecurities of feeling like she isn’t as good as her mother or even her sister. My baby is a powerful witch who can do whatever she sets her mind to, but she needs a hug every once in awhile!!!!

Also, JASIE!!!! Jade finally came back and I swear to you, I screamed at THE scene. I am a Hosie shipper first and human second, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t lowkey ship Jasie. That whole scene hit so many key elements but, at the same time, it hit all those elements because they weren’t trying to rush Jade’s leaving - which I understand but it can’t go unspoken.

Now come the bad parts. Although the singing was amazing in this episode (Kaylee, Jenna, Danielle, Chris and Ben blew me away with their singing) the songs were very... meh. I was expecting something up to par with “Stepping Into the Light” that Kaylee sang in season 1 but it was just... not. Were they horrible? No. Will I listen to them again? Most likely not. Which is a shame because this is a Musical. You want your songs to be good and catchy and to stay with the audience after the show ends.

Another not good thing was how they dealt with Handon... AGAIN! 

Look, I am so damn tired of them breaking up one episode only to get back together in the next without ever fixing the problem of why they broke up in the first place. I . AM . TIRED! Not only was it rushed but it also made no sense with what they did in the episode. Landon spent the whole episode disregarding Hope’s feelings. Hope deliberately asked him to not write about her family. What does he do? He writes about her family. Then, not only does he write about her family, he uses one of Klaus’ letters for Hope, PRIVATE letters, to write a music for a musical that Hope didn’t want her family to be a part of. Only for Hope to have a conversation about her dad with the MOTW, that although made complete sense for Hope’s development in relation to her family but not at all related to the problem at hand with the musical, and all of a sudden she is okay to be in the musical that she has been condemning the entire episode - and, not only is she okay with the musical, she is so okay that she uses that moment to sing to Landon and make up... out of nowhere.

There was quite literally no talking about their MANY problems before reconciliation. NOT ONLY THAT! But a song that was meant to be an emotional song about her father, ended up becoming about Landon. They are really doing their best here to make Hope’s character all about Landon.

Legacies needs to learn how to stick with a story line and develop it and build on it, so characters can evolve from it. Every time they break up Handon, the very next episode they put them back together. If you want to break them up and get them back together again at least drag it out for a few more episodes, so it feels like them getting back together was earned and not given jfc.

Anyway, to end on a positive note... The best part of the episode was Josie telling Landon “you gave up on Hope, like, twice.”. Yes he did, Josie. YES. HE. DID. Call out the hypocrisy.

Hosie "you keep stealing my clothes"

She didn’t notice it at first. It was something subtle like a mosquito bite or a dull ache after a long day on her feet. Hope never paid much mind to what she wore- because what she wore was always embedded in gold and blue. Always stamped with the crest of the Salvatore school. It was easy to misplace something when everyone had the same exact thing in their closets.

But when she started to circulate a couple of t-shirts (and on occasion a blazer that was telling of her brief foray with the Stallions debate team) she knew something was up. Maybe a mix up in the extensive laundry rooms. Hell, Hope even considered gnomes that got off on pilfering random objects that happened to take from in her wardrobe.

She breathed in a steady heaping of the soap-soaked air and frowned down at her half-empty basket of clothes. There was no stock in that saying about the half-drained glass. The way she saw it, she was losing clothes and whoever was stealing them was gaining something.

“Oh! I’m sorry I didn’t know someone else was in here.” A soft voice sounded from behind her. It made her skin prickled with heat. “I can… leave.”

Josie Saltzman was struggling with her own bag of unwashed clothes. They weighted her down from one side and her cheeks were reddened from the journey down here. The basement was cold, she wore a flannel that looked oddly familiar over a Stallions hoodie.

“No, it’s okay,” Hope said, offering up a sort of smile. “I’m just finishing up.”

“Oh, okay” Josie let out a breath of relief, walking towards the washing machine as Hope reached down and grabbed a pair of pants and another t-shirt from the dryer. She could feel Josie’s eyes flick to her every couple of seconds.

“Have you had any clothes go missing?” Hope shut the dryer with a small click.

“Huh? No-“Josie’s words rushed together. “I mean, not me personally but anyone could have sticky fingers around here. It’s a big school. Really big.”

Hope had let the conversation die and left Josie to it before she ascended the stairs to the old Salvatore school. It had always been extravagant and dark and gave her a good picture of the brothers who owned it before it was turned into what it was today. Still- she wished it was a little more up to date with a laundry room on the actual floors instead of what used to be an old wine cellar.

There was an instant warmth that enveloped her as soon as she walked down the hallway towards her room, laundry perched on her hip and thinly veiled discontent on her face. She set the basket down and went to open the door, pushing her way into the room.

A crimson and black flannel sat draped across the nicely made bed. Hope blew air out of her nose and picked up the piece of clothing. Gnomes, yeah, definitely gnomes.

The next time Hope noticed something missing, it was a sweatshirt. One that wasn’t marked with anything blue or yellow, instead it was a simple gray sweatshirt that had an embroidered M against the front. She had never understood her families need to brand everything- but when she stole it from her aunts closet one spring break, she couldn’t help but to sleep in it every night.

Tonight, when she started to rifle through her closet, she noticed it was gone. Admittedly she had stripped herself of it earlier in the day and left it on her closet floor. But she still expected it to be balled up in the corner where she had left it.

Hope let out a grunt of frustration and pulled the closet shut again, settling on pulling on a t-shirt and flopping down on her bed. These gnomes were going to get it, she decided right then and there, as soon as she saw them pilfering another item of her clothing, she was sure to drop kick one.

“Hope?”

She shot up quick enough to see stars in her eyes. That didn’t’ sound like a gnome. In fact, it sounded like Josie Saltzman. She stood, leaning against her doorframe with a guilty look on her soft features and something grey clenched between her fingers.

“I wanted to… I think this is yours?” She thrust her hand forward with the sweatshirt in it.

“Oh?” Hope stood and crossed the small expanse to meet Josie halfway. She sheepishly handed over the sweatshirt. “Where’d you find it?”  

“I uh, I’m kind of the one that took it.”

“Oh,”

Her voice was less leaden that time. So, Josie was the one that had been lifting all of her clothes these last few months. Shrinking her wardrobe drastically. It was hard to feel any type of anger towards someone who looked so innocent. Someone who always seemed to color inside the lines no matter how hard Hope, or even Penelope, tried to lead the marker away.

Lizzie. Lizzie, she expected this from.

“I’m really sorry,” She rushed out in a breath. “You left your shirt the other month and I accidentally brought it up to my room and it was super comfy so I just kind of fell asleep in it. Then I took your flannel and promised I wouldn’t take anything else after that but then I saw your sweatshirt and-“

Josie took in a long heaping of air, Hope studying her “It’s really hard to sleep sometimes. And somehow… I don’t know, it just helped.”

Josie had been an insomniac since they were kids, but Hope hadn’t paid much mind to it before. She was fine for a long while, sleeping through most of the night if not to wake up just as the sun peaked over the horizon. Hope would struggle to sneak in late at night, all the while avoiding the third floorboard from the front door because it moaned. And Josie would always be sitting in the kitchen bathed in warm light. They had a silent agreement.

Hope realized she was still talking, taking her shoulders and squeezing them slightly. “Jo, it’s okay.”

“What?”

“I said it’s fine. I’m not mad.”

“you’re not?” Josie let her shoulders slump in relief as she stood up straighter. “Wait, why not? I physically stole something that’s yours.”

“mm, you’re not helping your case.” Hope let her hands fall to her sides. She grasped at the sweatshirt she had thrown onto the bed. “But in all honesty, you taking my sweatshirt is better than the alternative. If it helps you sleep, then you can wear it. Never hurts to have something comfortable around.”

Josie narrowed her eyes. “What was the alternative?”

Gnomes. “Don’t worry about it.”

Annndddd we’re back witches! 

So let’s get started.

We start with a flashback to a year ago when we met the Necromancer. He was transported to Texas and is in a human form. Therefore, he looks normal and possess no powers.

In the present, Hope returns to the Salvatore School and is surprised to see that she now has a roommate. Her name is Alyssa and has all these rules. Will Alyssa stick around long? I hope not because where the hell have Ethan and Maya been? And Kalebs sister?

Ric is determined to know more about Sebastian since they have a strict admissions process. And then Lizzie came down fixing her clothes in a hurry, so that probably didn’t help.

11 months ago, the Necromancer (or Ted, according to his name tag), is working at an ice cream shop. He and we meet Chad.

Josie goes into Rics office and takes the hourglass that we’ve seen before.

Landon is tasked with showing Sebastian around and spending time with the factions to see if he is fit to stay. Sebastian witnesses what they call “teen drama” between Josie, Landon, and a little bit of Hope since Josie yeets away from Landon once Hope comes.

10 months ago, the Necromancer revived a cockroach in front of Chad, and 7 months ago, he tries to revive a cat in his apartment. Chad asks why Malivore would screw the Necromancer over and while he starts explaining, he can’t remember who he stole the knife from. He says he remembers the “man with anger issues and an impressive jawline” and while lost in thought, the cat briefly revives. Angry, he yells and leaves.

At the Salvatore School, Lizzie is reading comics with MG (specifically Crisis on Infinite Earths for those of you who might’ve gotten a little excited like I did). She tells him that she is trying to avoid having sex with Sebastian...again because since the first time they’ve just been going at it and her body doesn’t register that she’s a feminist.

Landon takes Sebastian to the werewolves first and they all get along.

Five months ago now, the Necromancer and Chad visit Malivore and discover that it has been closed. Knowing this, he knows he must make a sacrifice. He essentially slices Chad open and uses some cream to make his face white and like recreates the scar or whatever that was on his face. A month ago, he revives Chad and gives him a red cloak and tells him his plan to go to Virginia.

MG sits with the witches at lunch and tells them that he doesn’t like Sebastian. Alyssa then tries to help him make Sebastian fail his tests by cutting her hand. It backfires by MG being the one tempted by blood and Sebastian helps him calm down.

Josie is doing magic with the hourglass and I guess sees the future? The school burning, herself evil.

3 months ago, Chad and the Necromancer arrive at the cemetery in Mystic Falls. He tells Chad that he’s going to murder someone innocent in order to like stake his claim or something.

In the Stefan Memorial Library, Josie is with the hourglass and Dorian comes up to her. He asks her what she’s doing and she says it’s an old assignment that Clarke assigned and that she’s working on getting rid of it (lies!) He is suspicious because it is advanced and she needs another witch. Hope steps in so Dorian leaves. She tells Josie that her friend Vincent (!!) told her about the hourglass and how dangerous it can be if it breaks and has a spell that can be a barrier around it.

Sebastian is with the witches in his final test and Lizzie tries to play it cool. Alyssa has a crystal ball that reads feelings that are buried deep down. She reads Sebastian and he’s not happy at all at what’s being said. He’s getting riled and Landon puts his hand on his shoulder and Sebastian throws him across the room. The witches do the head thing an Lizzie yells at them to stop and to let him go. And I hope he gets the boot out of the school because I. Don’t. Like. Him.

Sebastian goes to the gym and Landon finds him there and asks if he’s okay. Sebastian says no and tells him how he was sold when he was 8 to merchants.

Hosie are doing the spell and Josie thanks Hope for her help. Josie asks why Clarke chose her and Hope says it’s because she’s trusting and really powerful. Hope tells Josie about how she came to the school after she came out of Malivore and saw Jandon at the Mill and they have an understanding now. Small smiles were exchanged.

Landon tells Ric that Sebastian is good to stay and sometimes people just need a chance to get things right. While Landon leaves the office, we see Ric reading a book opened to ‘Chapter 14 Sebastian The Merciless’, so...big oof.

In classic TVD style, while someone is running in the woods, a vampire makes its attack. In this case it is Sebastian and Ric crossbows him.

While the Necromancer is sleeping, Chad tries to kill the Necromancer since he said he was going to kill Hope and her friends which are kids. The Necromancer says that Chad he is no longer in control of himself and that the Necromancer now controls him. He makes him kneel, and Chad wonders if Malivore made the Necromancer human so that he could have a shot at peace. Necromancer tells him not to call him that and that his name is the Necromancer. You know. Like he’s done this entire episode.

Sebastian asks Ric how he found him and Ric explains that he has an active locator spell on him. Ric says that he’ll give him a second chance if he follows the rules to which Sebastian responds that he doesn’t follow orders and that if he goes back in the box then he’ll be let out by Lizzie. He says he can control her mind and implies that he’s had sex with her all over the school. The only way to protect Lizzie from him is to kill him.

Yesterday, the Necromancer is ready to execute his plan. Or at least finish it. With Clarke’s body, he makes a new portal.

AYO ITS KALEBS SISTER. AS DORIANS INTERN.

Jandon talk and Josie admits that she pushes people away when she needs them most. Landon admits that he misses talking with her like that and that he wants them to be friends. Hope walks in and sees that they were making her side of the room look kind of like last time.

Lizzie asks if Ric kicked out Sebastian and he explains how he chose not to stay. Lizzie cries in his arms while repeating that it’s a good thing he left.

In the end, the Necromancer gets a Gollum (?) or something from the portal and tells him that he has a better offer than peace.

And with that, we are one episode closer to seeing Kai!

The Full Picture

Summary: The dock scene at the end of 2x06 but Hosie, AKA: Josie and Hope finally get to talk about their feelings. Pairing: Hope/Josie Length: 1,568

Deep down, Josie had known something was off. She and Landon could never really work out, not because anyone or anything was standing in their way, but because they weren’t quite right together, like two puzzle pieces cut slightly differently. They look like they’d fit, but when you try to match them up, the edges bend and fray as they chafe against one another.

Josie knew she’d been pushing the wrong pieces together, but what was she supposed to do? She didn’t see any piece that fit better, and Landon was kind and handsome and reminded her of something she couldn’t place. She felt some kind of love for him that she hadn’t felt with anybody else.

But now he remembered Hope, and she couldn’t imagine him choosing to stay with her. What confused her was that she didn’t mind, especially considering how overbearing and possessive she’d been lately. What had possessed her to do that? It all seemed so trivial now that she had her memories back. Now that Hope was back. The last few weeks spent fuming over her, thinking she was some pretty stranger to be jealous of, felt like a fever dream.

She didn’t want to look at Landon when he approached her at the dock. She could only hope that however this conversation turned out, they could still be friends.

But it wasn’t Landon who sat down next to her. She watched, surprised and somehow relieved, as Hope swung her legs over the dock and twisted her fingers in her lap. She’d expected to feel some kind of bitterness the next time they saw each other, but all she felt was warmth and familiarity.

“I’m sorry you had to find out like this,” Hope blurted. “About me and Landon. I mean—I know you already knew, but that was before…” She shook her head. “Anyway, I’m sorry. I really tried not to let you get hurt.”

Josie tilted her head. “You’re worried about my feelings?”

“You seemed happy.”

Even in the darkness Josie could see the pain in Hope’s face. Of course this was harder for her; she’d come back to see her boyfriend and all of her friends had moved on, entirely forgotten about her. She’d kept it locked away for weeks. Josie couldn’t even imagine the feeling. She looked down and picked at a stray thread on her jeans.

“You should have told us who you were,” she said. “You should have—as soon as you got back, you should have told us.”

Hope shook her head. “You wouldn’t have understood,” she said. “It doesn’t matter how real it was. You had no idea who I was and I couldn’t come crashing into your lives claiming to be someone you knew. I thought it would be better to shoulder it alone.”

“Okay,” Josie said. “I get that. But then, why did you do it in the first place?” She looked up and met Hope’s eyes for the first time, and she felt tears threatening in her own. “What about all of the people here who care about you?”

Hope grimaced, and Josie knew what she wanted to say: how it wouldn’t matter who cared about her when they wouldn’t remember her anyway. She must have known that reason would mean nothing to her, because she didn’t say it.

“I thought I could kill Malivore,” she said. “That—keeping you all safe—would have been worth it.”

And Josie didn’t say what she wanted to say: how it clearly didn’t work, how it was a hasty unnecessarily sacrificial decision, and how there had to be another way they could have been looking for together. But it was all said and done now. She tucked her chin into her knees.

“I’m just glad you’re back,” she murmured. “But…shouldn’t you be talking to Landon?”

Hope sighed. “He doesn’t want to talk to me yet. I don’t blame him.” She glanced at Josie. “He’s not my boyfriend anymore. I’m surprised he’s not talking to you right now.”

“He doesn’t know where I am. I just figured I’d spend some time alone before dealing with all this.”

“Oh.” Hope moved to get up. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have bothered you—”

“No, wait.” Josie reflexively grabbed Hope’s wrist to keep her where she was, then quickly let go. “Can you stay for a little while?”

Hope hesitated, but settled back down when she saw Josie’s expression. “Yeah, of course.”

“Look,” Josie said. She shook her head. “I don’t know how to say this. And I’m kind of afraid of admitting it out loud because I don’t want anyone to get hurt and I don’t want to make anything weird, and—” She sighed. “Landon’s amazing. He’s a great boyfriend. I know you know that. But when I got my memories of you back…”

Hope frowned. “What?”

“I just don’t love him like that,” Josie said. “I think…maybe I loved that he reminded me of you somehow? I know that sounds ridiculous. I mean, I shouldn’t have had any idea you were gone, and I didn’t, really, but I knew something was missing.”

“Um.” Hope laughed nervously. “I don’t really know what you’re saying.”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Yes, it does.”

Josie furrowed her brow and studied Hope’s face, but she couldn’t tell what she saw there. Would it really be so disastrous to say it? She already knew part of the truth.

“Do you remember what I told you last semester after we fought that mummy?”

Hope nodded. “How could I forget?”

Josie shifted and picked harder at the thread on her pants. “I know I kind of implied that was all in the past. And I thought it was, I swear, but all of those memories hit me and I saw you and I realized what I’d been missing, and I just…” She took a deep breath. Nope. She couldn’t say it. She couldn’t tell Hope she loved her when she’d barely had any time to process it herself.

Hope stared at her for a moment, and then broke into laughter. Her smile was so radiant that Josie almost forgot that laughter was probably a bad response to what she’d been trying to say.

“Sorry,” Josie said. “I shouldn’t have—”

“No, no, it’s not you,” Hope said. “I didn’t even realize, not until today…”

“Realize what?”

“The croatoan had us cornered before you showed up earlier.” Hope pulled her legs onto the dock and crossed them. “We were telling each other secrets to try to keep it away, and I, um…” She paused. “I told Lizzie I used to have a crush on you.”

Josie blinked. “What?”

“I know,” Hope said. “It’s ridiculous. I had a crush on you for a week in ninth grade. Why would I bother keeping that a secret for this long? Why wouldn’t I let myself tell you when you told me about yours? It shouldn’t have been a big deal.”

Josie sat up straighter. This wasn’t where she’d expected the conversation to go at all. “But…?”

“But it wasn’t just a week.” Hope hesitated. “I didn’t understand why you were suddenly avoiding me all the time, and I told myself to let it go, but I don��t think I really did. I just didn’t realize how much I still felt for you until I came back and had to deal with being a stranger to you.”

“Okay, now I’m the one who’s not really sure what you’re trying to say.”

“I don’t know, either. Everything’s been so confusing.”

“Hey.” Josie reached out to take Hope’s hand. Was that inappropriate? She almost let go, but decided not to. “I know I couldn’t be there for you before, but I am now.”

Hope looked up from Josie’s hand to her face, pursed her lips, and nodded. “Thank you,” she said.

Josie could tell she was about to tear up and instinctively pulled her into a hug, and she burrowed her face into Josie’s chest. She didn’t say anything, but Josie could guess how she was feeling. Everyone remembered her now, but she probably still felt alone if even Landon wouldn’t talk to her. Why else would she have been wandering alone behind the school?

She suddenly felt fiercely protective of Hope and hugged her tighter until she began to pull away, silently wiping at her eyes.

“Sorry,” Hope murmured. “I don’t know what came over me.”

“It’s okay.” Josie paused. “You know, the Commonwealth Day celebrations are probably still gonna be going for a few hours. Do you want to go get your mind off everything?”

Hope hummed. “I don’t know,” she said. “I’m not really in the mood for a lot of fanfare, you know?”

“Yeah, me neither.”

“What about a walk?” Hope stood and offered her hand to Josie.

Josie smiled and let Hope help her up. She expected her to let go right away, but Hope only continued to hold her hand as they walked.

So this is what it feels like, she thought as she watched some of Hope’s smile return in the moonlight. This is what the right piece feels like, like her frayed edges were soothed and locked comfortably into place with Hope’s. She felt some of the heaviness that had been weighing her down lately float away, and she knew that as long as Hope was in the picture here, everything would be all right.
