i know people like the idea that the rat grinders are actually ineffectual at combat and the bad kids could wipe the floor with them because all they've been doing is grinding rats, but i don't actually believe that to be the case?

i mean, disregarding the fact that they've still gone on SOME actual adventures (logging multiple trips to the mountains of chaos for instance), it feels like the whole point of the rat grinders is that they are power gamers. these guys have min-maxed, grinded, and optimized their play through every rule and loophole they can find. they have mary ann adding a plus 20 to her athletics checks, kipperlily is nigh undetectable as a rogue when spying on them, ruben is clearly very gifted as a bard with his song of the summer. barring some convoluted circumstances like the rat grinders meticulously lying and conning people about their prowess for all of this, they clearly have substantial skill. they're the epitome of that one type of player with meticulous spreadsheets calculating the exact xp to monster killed ratio whos decided to kill monsters for 8 hours instead of do dungeons because thats the fastest way to max level.

and you could say that the bad kids are closer as friends and work better as a team, but i dont really believe that is true either? or at the very least i don't think that was always case (i.e. pre-lucy frostblade's death). now, there's some evidence of cracks in their group (kipperlily hiding her dealings from oisin, the latest episode with oisin, ivy, and the others trying to break up the fight with the bad kids) but we're also not privy to every instance of the rat grinders' lives, and honestly i believe they've been conspicuously absent enough that its hard to get a read on how they act as a group. whatever it is they are doing with the dead god clearly requires a lot of coordination and whenever we see them they are still ultimately working together. you can't get a group of people to go out and grind rats for hours after school and even more on the weekend if you didn't have full buy-in.

plus, and this is purely personal preference, but it is more interesting to me having the rat grinders maintain their status as a narrative foil/dark mirror to the bad kids if they were still ultimately skilled adventurers and players who have simply become misguided. their hatred of the unfairness of aguefort's ruling system would hit a lot harder if they were still excelling in some way but being held back by the rules, as opposed to just petty unfiltered jealousy of the bad kids (not that that isnt also a factor lol).

Non TSC stans really want a LI calling his girlfriend’s Dad his own Dad 💀 Jace was calling Clary’s brother his brother while being romantically involved with Clary. Just because he was adopted by Valentine as a kid didn’t make it normal for Cassie to have Jace call himself a Morgenstern or to call his girlfriend’s brother his own brother.

for me the incest thing is a plot device and it frusterates me how no one wants to engage with it that way. could it have been done differently? probabaly. but they don’t even try to examining why it’s there at all! they don’t bother analyzing or asking, hey, does the author have any particular reason for putting this here, or writing it the way she did? they just dismiss it as gross and go away. but i really do think it has a purpose and point in the story that gets lost on a lot of people

Meanwhile, Jonathan who has been a good guy all his life and did one thing wrong that they make out to be something it wasn't, is evil and a monster and worse than Vecna a serial killing child abuser. And in fact-they even like Vecna. Talking about how hot he is and justifying his actions because ''his mom was mean to him''. They even defend VECNA over Jonathan. VECNA. Because why? Because hes hot and hes sexy and powerful. But Jonathan? eww.

They support Jonathan's abuse. They support him being abused by his father as a child and being locked in a trunk and thrown around. Saying he deserved much worse. They support Joyce treating him badly and think she should be worse to him. They justify him being bullied and tortured by people and claim his bully was the victim in it. They take the sides of people who have tortured him in the past. They make up lies about him to make him look like a monster. Things they know not to be true. And then back each other up on it even though we ALL saw what really happened. They have said he is worse than Vecna multiple times said he's worse than a child abusing serial killer.

Let's not forget Jonathan was abused and bullied and tortured all his life and those people have said many times that he deserves a lot worse. Cheering on his death. And I want to start standing for Israel. Before I’ve always kinda stayed out of it but something just really made me absolutely angry. It really made me understand why Jewish people need a homeland and need to protect it, why “never again” is so important. Honestly if I were in that situation I’d do the same, I’d protect my home. I find people know very little people know about Mein Kampf, even though it was the blueprint for H*tler’s future plans. He lays the groundwork for the justification of persecuting multiple groups. Most notably Jewish, Black, and Romani people. And, like you quoted, these groups were tied together in his eyes. He thought we were working together to “stain” the Rhineland, and Europe at large.

This attitude started well before H*tler took power. The second Reich involved Germany taking control of parts of Africa and subjugating the people there in much the same way as during the Holocaust. Forced labor and extreme violence was commonplace.

So yes, we definitely share a common enemy. And it’s an enemy that spans back longer than most people realize.

AITA for asking my RP partners to censor their swearing better? This sounds so dumb because it is. I (17) roleplay on a kids pokemon adoptable site. No swearing is #1 on the rules. I’m fine with this because I really hate swearing myself, even in writing. Most of my rp partners are upper teens because we all have like 0 life and have been on this site for years (2-8) years. I have been on this site since I was 10 so I know the law pretty well. Recently, I’ve been having problems with some of them.

I have brought up my dislike of swearing (Honestly, for the most part I’m fine with reading swears, just I don’t want any of them to be in trouble with the mods) multiple times. Usually in the form of “Hey guys can you censor your swearing more?”

Today though, one character went on a long (albeit dramatic and unneeded) rant, and in it used two swears. Fucking and Bitch. They were censored as such fxcking and bxtch.

I bring this up in the group chat saying “Guys p l e a s e censor your swears a lot more” <— admittedly dramatic, I wanted to get my point since it seemed like they were ignoring me.

One of my partners (17?), the one who posted the rant, questioned how I would like them to censor it, bringing up how the censored swears don’t show up on the foul language filter provided in the rules (it’s known for a while to be faulty, such as saying pony was offensive for containing the German word po).

I told them that I would prefer them to not swear at all (The rules never say that censored swears are allowed), but that if they felt the absolute need for a character to swear (I don’t understand why, but again, I don’t like to swear so I dont get much of a say), to at least censor it in a way it is not instantly recognizable. My line of thinking was things as ****ing, ***hole, et.c.

Two other partners joined in, expressing sadness over not being able to swear (again. This is a chILDRENS SITE.) They all apologized for the swearing but. They’ve done it before. They felt annoyed. The final nail in the coffin was in the next post from the rant charater (directed towards mine) contained: “I'd express the depths of my hurt and anger, but you'd disapprove if the vocabulary it would require.”

My character has no qualms against swearing or foul language. It was a jab directly targeted at me.

So I guess, was I in the wrong? I know it’s a silly situation, but I genuinely don’t want them to get warned or even temp banned for breaking the rules (It’s well known that the mods are kinda crap at doing anything)

Additional info: even though we’re almost adults, it doesnt speak for the intention of the website. For example one of my partners (also one of the swearers) has only recently turned 13. When we first started interacting, they were 11. These are also not the first instances of swearing, but the first instance of what people would consider the bigger swears.

Wwx didnt work for Jiang, i think he is graphic design freelancer? The agrement for divorce is between the two of them, their family didnt know about their agreement. They choose how long they stay together before divorce after they think that the project between their family is finished so their divorce wont effect the project. WWX even has a plan after their divorce to open his own office. If i remember corectly, WWX realize he didnt want to get divorced is a few days before the day of their divorce. Like he is in his room and thinking that after their divorce, he cant listening to LWJ playing his guqin and spend their days together and he didnt want that.

OK SO HERES THE THING WITH THAT. obviously hes a swiss army knife of a man, jack of all trades, etc that much is clear. but its fully his choice to be this way. some stuff is coincidental of course, like his body type is just like that (although he does still work out) and some of his skills he learned as a necessity of being kanatas caretaker/bodyguard (martial arts probably, smuggling magazines for kanata to read), and traveling alone as much as he does, being fluent in multiple languages is not optional. but then theres stuff like operating heavy machinery.... and fighting with weapons... and basically everything else. why would he need any of that? well thing is, he hates himself. his self worth is entirely reliant on his ability to be useful to other people .

when you have a long term relationship with someone, especially if it spans a part of both your childhoods, you grow into each other like a skin graft. if one person is cut away from the other because theyre unable to be there for some reason, the place they occupied will eventually heal over.... and when they come back, there will no longer be a place for them. theyre replaced by new skin, or something like that. like, when madara was exiled and forced away from kanata, he eventually met chiaki, who filled every role madara used to fill (including the one in his family— i believe chiaki and madaras mother are on good terms but dont quote me on that i dont remember where i got it from) and when he managed to get back to japan, he was superfluous, which is a fate worse than death to him. so he learns how to do anything and everything, hoping that at some point one of his skills will be useful to someone and hell have a reason to live again.

tldr; madara knows how to do so much on purpose because the more things he can do, the more opportunities there are for being able to help people. and the more obscure skills he knows, the more irreplaceable he becomes, safeguarding him from becoming unneeded in his friends lives despite his constant absence .

as for the successor thing we still dont really know what rei means by that, cuz according to ritsu madara has been coming over their house for "successor business" for years, even before the war (i think) so it very well could have absolutely nothing to do with idol stuff . maybe its just an excuse to have crazy gay sex idk lol

He'd be both frustrated and amused. He would be able to playfight with you and not have to worry about you hurting yourself, but he'd be worried that you would be able to escape him easier now. If you weren't showing any signs of running away, he'd not think much about it and would enjoy getting lessons from you. If you could teach him how to be as good as you, he'd be able to protect himself and you better.

If you feel that it's hard to use your eyes, he will go to every doctor to try to find some kind of glasses to help you and if there are none, he'll be your eyes. The same with spelling and reading. Despite them not being too affectionate, Tweek is defiantly clingy to you, having you in his arms practically always, he will never let you go any where by yourself. Rarely, when you're not in Tweeks arms you're by Craigs side

They are quite strict, yeah. They wont let you to o to parties that go over 10 pm and will not let you do multiple things you friends' parents would.

If you were to move out and or go to uni, they would be very reluctant to let you go, but will the promise of you visiting as much as you could they let you.

If you died, however, they would be heartbroken beyond belief, Tweek would never be able to get over your death even with his husband's help and support. You mattered the world to him. Craig would never get over your death either but he'll try to move on, whats done is done, you're never coming back, even though he really wants you to come back.

I was kinda curious about something. From what I‘ve seen in the Fandom it looks like Bruce was heavily judging and talking down to Stephanie when he found out about her Teen pregnancy, and he also used her to try and make Tim jealous about having a new Robin?

Considering Bruce never even wanted a Robin/dislikes his family also being Vigilantes (even if he is simultaneously proud of them) I don’t get why he would try and lure Tim back like that.

Especially his treatment of Stephanie seems wildly out of character. He wants to help Gotham as a whole, he doesn’t judge prostitutes, desperate criminals, or anything of the like, AND specifically has a softspot for Kids and teenagers, so his behavior makes ZERO sense.

But I get that canon does what it wants and sometimes goes for shock/drama for the heck of it and writes characters in a way that is more "interesting" (it really isn’t).

So what I really wanted to know is; is this also accepted as canon in the more Bruce friendly circles? Or is it more like Bruce cutting Jasons throat with a Batarang, where it was rightfully so decided that that‘s stupid.

Ok so this is actually multiple questions and i love all of them because while i hate canon’s treatment of Stephanie and Steph-and-Bruce i love the core concept of the characters - which is, how do you deal with a alternate version of yourself? (Because i will never shut up about Steph and Bruce being parallels).

So to start, you mention fandom writing Bruce as judging her teen pregnancy which i cant speak to because i avoid those fics with prejudice and i havent read/dont remember if the canon ever even deals with that - but long story short No He Would Not. It does not fit his character or his stated goals to act like that. I dont really have more to say on that because the idea is absurd to me, so its kind of lighting up ??? When i try to imagine it.

(Also Bruce absolutely had a teen pregnancy scare/scandal are you joking? Easiest way to get your hands on the billionaire babies fund.)

The “make Tim jealous for Robin” is unfortunately, true but also that era of comics is so confusing. Tim is in boarding school with Alfred, he specifically asked Stephanie to take over Robin and for Bruce to train her, Bruce finally thought he was done with baby vigilantes but no, this kid arranged for a babysitter for him … bonkers.

The thing with Steph is that she was already a vigilante. Spoiler was an independent actor for almost as long as Tim was Robin, she didnt need Batmans permission or approval to start (but lets be honest she probably wanted it.) or continue what she was doing! So the thing with Bruce being harsher during training or refusing to train her … it wouldn’t work. It didnt work. It in fact led to the eventual confrontation with Black Mask and her “death”.

Majority of the Bruce and Steph fics ive read have done some serious frankensteining with her backstory and their relationship - for good reason. A lot seem to cut the teen pregnancy storyline entirely (a fact i feel neutral about. Its interesting and adds depth to Steph, but the way we talk about teen pregnancy has changed a lot since it was written.) as well as the idea that Bruce was trying to make Tim jealous- instead its about Bruce trying to convince Steph that being a vigilante is too hard, too dangerous, and too limiting for her to continue, which is mean yeah but at least its in character, especially for post Death in the Family Bruce who just wants these dumb kids to stop taunting death.

Its unfortunate that canon basically confirms Bruce’s fears with Stephanies death and its mildy infuriating how fandom treats it.

I cant speak for all of “Bruce friendly circles” (love that btw) but thats what ive seen more of, when their relationship is even discussed. I personally prefer fics that focus on her being Spoiler, and more independent of Bruce because of it - like Robin was an internship for a position she ultimately rejected, because it wasnt something she wanted. Also Barbara being more of her Batman with Batman being support staff. If that makes sense.

Was there a “good” or “understandable” reason Bruce acted like that? Grief, fear at what could happen if he let Stephanie keep vigilanting, Steph being unwilling to operate within Robin rules after being independent, and the usual “can you please go to bed its a school night” could work if you retconn his worse moments tbh. Was there a good or understandable reason Bruce was written like that? Misogyny and the inability to conceive of a female character who doesnt need him.
