I'm not into The Dragon Prince at all (I've seen the first 5 seasons but only remember the first 3 clearly, now that my sister and I live apart she can't force me into watching it anymore lmao), but my sister was ranting about the latest season to me yesterday and...

Look. I'm the kind of person who doesn't get too emotional over media that isn't of my own creation. There are notable exceptions (LoK Book 3 finale, Tomorrow was the War, The Dawns Here Are Quiet, just a few that come to mind) but for the most part, it's rather hard to get to me. My sister is the same, I don't think I've ever seen her cry over a show or movie or book.

i keep thinking about the fact that the only person who didn't see claudia's death was louis. i keep thinking about the fact that claudia died in a room full of strangers that wanted her dead and the only person horrified was the only person familiar to her, who still ultimately played his part and refused to help her. claudia died with no one else in that room left who ever loved her, except for whatever little lestat had ever given her, and so she had to turn to the man she always hated for his abuse and cruelty to see her in her final moments for some small amount of comfort bc he was still the only person in the entire room she could say ever knew some piece of her that mattered. lestat. lestat of all people.

I do find it a tad odd how Claudia and Louis knew they should only communicate telepathically while planning their murder, yet they're just regularly talking about how to lie over having murdered Lestat, in their apartment, while the coven members freely roam about outside and could easily overhear their conversation? Especially since obviously they couldn't just talk about murdering Lestat while living in the same house with him, but even then, Claudia knew he had a mole planted next to them and kept the entire plot to herself in order to mislead even Antoinette. She also knows how to spy on other vampires, like she did with Lestat and Louis, and still not be perceived while listening in on what they're doing. So why are they being very blase about talking over such a dangerous topic even after they know that Lestat is considered to be their co-founder, which would mean that they may likely get into trouble should anyone find out?

Unless this is supposed to be deliberate and a clue for the coven likely already knowing who their maker really is and what happened to him (which was also the case in the book), but I'm still surprised at Claudia not having considered this option.... Unless she's being very much in denial about the dangers of this because she's so desperate to form any community with these people.

The ending of that chapter was quite angsty but Louis pretending he's not being catty by noting how inferior Anselm's dick is made me burst out laughing

I think relentlessly about how Louis felt the need to make sure Daniel knew Antoinette had a flat ass, so it just felt right, haha, although you know he'd never acknowledge it. I also actually lowkey think he would be cattier about men he knew Lestat was hooking up with than women too, funnily enough. I think they'd be harder for him to just dismiss, so he'd need to go search and destroy, haha.

Which on second thought isn’t even that out-there because it’s just the natural opposite of Claudia/Julius 🤔 but you get what I mean

i like to think that this was claudia both cursing lestat and just her being a scared daughter looking to her father for comfort while in agony in a room full of people who cheered on as she burned.

on one hand i think this is her passing her own judgment on him, forcing him to face the consequences of his actions, of what he put her through. i do think she believed his version in the end (if her questioning louis and then changing her wording to "even if it is true" is anything to go by) but of course she does not forgive him. she cant. his explainations arent an excuse. none of it justifies what he did to her specifically, and both of them know it. i think its also why lestat doesnt even try to apologize to her.

and on the other hand, at this point madeleine was already dead, louis had been taken away and no one in the coven had any love or sympathy for her. lestat was all she had left, and he was the one who made her. we keep being told over and over how strong the vampire bond is in regards to louis and lestat but lestat made claudia too. he's watching his own blood die and he feels it, and she knows it, and knows that bond, that shared pain is the last shred of love she will ever feel.
