(buddie) (s8 spec) (1.1k) already wrote some buck-gets-hit-by-a-car spec, so how about some buck-gets-shot? kept thinking about "take eddie [to the laker's game] and die" and uh... here we are. cw: mass shooting/ gun violence (described vaguely), somewhat graphic description of a bullet wound, blood edit: now featuring a companion piece

Buck is smiling when it happens. Grinning at Eddie like he hung the fucking moon as he points out what must be the hundredth interesting play he’s seen on the court tonight. Buck’s smiling.

Eddie registers the screams before the gunfire. He smells the metallic scent of spent shell casings before he sees the shooter. He tackles Buck to the ground before he realizes he’s already hurt.

Buck was smiling, but now his face is inches from Eddie’s and his eyes are wide with pain and panic.

“Eds,” he says, and it’s barely above a whisper but it’s still too loud.

Eddie shakes his head, a tiny, sharp movement. Buck takes a shaky breath and presses his lips together. He understands. Eddie hates that he understands. Thank God he understands.

There’s something warm and wet slowly spreading between them, and it takes Eddie several wasted seconds to realize it’s blood. He’s almost completely certain it isn’t his, which—

God, that’s so much worse than if it was.

One of Eddie’s hands is still cradling Buck’s head, an instinctive act of protection before they hit the ground. With the other, Eddie slowly begins feeling his way around Buck’s abdomen. His fingers brush against torn fabric and he feels nauseous.

I’m sorry, he mouths before pressing down hard.

Buck gasps in pain. A muscle in his jaw ticks with the effort it must take him to keep from screaming.

“You’re doing so good,” Eddie breathes into Buck’s ear. “I’ve got you; I promise.”

The bullet caught him somewhere along the fifth intercostal space on the right side of his chest. Eddie doesn’t have a way to feel for an exit wound, not without letting up pressure on what he knows is there.

At best, the bullet glanced off a rib and tore through nothing but skin and muscle. At worst…

At worst, Buck is dying beneath him and there’s not a damn thing Eddie can do, not until the shooter is dead or gone. All Eddie can do is pray. Pray and hope like hell that God has forgiven him for his incomplete confession.

Another spray of gunfire echoes through the arena. It’s nearly impossible to identify where it’s coming from, but Eddie’s got a vague idea based on the direction people seem to be running in.

Buck takes a ragged, watery breath.

For the first time in his life, Eddie hopes he’s crying. He draws back, just far enough to look Buck in his eyes. His eyes, which are clouded over in pain but free from tears.

Fuck, fucking goddamn it.

Eddie presses his cheek against Buck’s.

“Slow, steady breaths, okay?” he whispers. “You have to breathe through it, even if it feels like you can’t.”

The tiniest whimper escapes Buck’s chest.

“You have to, Buck, I can’t—” Eddie squeezes his eyes shut and takes a shuddering breath. “I just need you to hold on,” he begs.

A single shot rings out, and nearby, something falls to the ground with a dull thump.

“Suspect is down!” someone shouts. “We’re clear for EMS.”

Eddie carefully extricates his hand from behind Buck’s head. “Hear that? We’re so close, Buck.” He brushes a thumb across his cheekbone, then sits up and raises his hand in the air. “Over here!” he shouts. “I’ve got a penetrating chest wound that needs to be on the first ambo out of here!”

Buck’s eyelashes flutter as he fights to stay conscious.

“Come on, eyes on me,” Eddie says.

With his free hand and his teeth, he tears a strip of fabric from his shirt to wad up and press into Buck’s wound.  The skin there is ragged and torn, almost certainly an exit wound. Eddie curses.

“I need EMS now!” Eddie roars, not tearing his eyes away from Buck for even a second.

“I’m coming to you!” someone calls back.

Buck’s eyes slip shut.

“No!” Eddie commands, rubbing his knuckles across Buck’s sternum. “You’re staying right here with me, you got it?”

Buck groans weakly. His eyes flick back open.

“That’s perfect, you’re perfect,” Eddie babbles. “Just keep—c’mon, Buck, just keep fighting. I need—you have to be okay.”

Buck’s lips part. “Hurt,” he breathes.

“I know,” Eddie says desperately, “I know it hurts, I’m sorry.”

A pained sound falls from Buck’s lips. He lifts one of his hands just high enough to ghost his fingers along the ruined hem of Eddie’s shirt.

Behind him, Eddie hears a gurney roll to a stop.

“Here!”

Eddie turns and find a young woman, no more than twenty years old, wearing a polo that declares her part of a private ambulance service. He doubts she’d weigh even a hundred pounds soaking wet.

“Alright,” he says, turning back to Buck. “I’m going to get you onto that gurney. Let me do all the work, okay?”

Buck’s eyes widen. He makes a strangled sound. “Hurt,” he coughs out again, fingers scrambling uselessly against the concrete floor of the arena.

“They’re gonna give you the good stuff at the hospital,” Eddie reassures. He lets go of Buck’s wound and pulls him into a seated position, then rolls him awkwardly onto his back. “I got you,” he says as he stands.

Eddie staggers beneath Buck’s weight but manages to get him down three rows worth of steps and onto the gurney without the young EMT’s help.

“We’re staged just outside the north entrance,” she says as she begins to push Buck toward a set of doors.

Eddie nods sharply. “He’s got a perforating chest wound, probable pulmonary laceration, and a history of pulmonary embolism. Allergic to naproxen,” he rattles off as he pushes the gurney alongside her.

“Um, okay, that’s—are you a doctor or something?” she asks.

“Firefighter,” Eddie corrects. “We both are.”

The closer they get to the exit, the harder Eddie has to work to keep pace with the EMT. He must be coming down hard as the adrenaline fades. A few spots cloud the corners of his visions. He blinks them away.

The doors to the outside fling open, revealing two paramedics from the 136.

“Diaz, is that you?” one of them asks.

The best Eddie can do is nod.

“Shit, and that’s—”

Eddie’s ears start to ring.

“Diaz, were you shot?”

No, he tries to say. One of the paramedics grabs him under the shoulders, and the other pushes his t-shirt up until—

Oh.

Huh.

He has been shot.

The paramedic in front of him is saying something, but Eddie can’t quite understand it. Over his shoulder, the EMT looks blurry and horrified.

The spots in his vision return with a vengeance, and in his last few moments of lucidity, it occurs to Eddie that the bullet in his abdomen is probably the same one that ripped through Buck’s chest.

Then, the world fades to black, and Eddie thinks nothing at all.

So.......I'm....angry and devastated and I can't deal with this so I'm going to vent a bit....

Bobby, a suicidal character who is once more in a good place just killed himself so another character could live.

Athena lost her 3rd husband (idgaf if she wasn't yet married the 1st time they were going to be, it fucking counts) and 2/3 are permanently fucking dead and the other one is....idk somewhere fucking probably. They never even got to live in their new house, never got to start this new chapter of their life or whatever was next for them.

Chimney, if they want to be true to his character, will probably take years to get over his survivor's guilt if he ever does or they'll ooc him and have him have no problem in 2 eps. Bc fuck chimney right?

Buck just lost the only decent father figure he ever had after he and Athena did everything they could to save the 118, and in the end, while it matters bc everyone else is alive I doubt it's going to be in any way shape or form a comfort and it will not like nothing short of a personal failure.

Eddie is NOT HERE in this episode. They've kept dragging shit they started for so long and they didn't even have the decency to add one of the main characters reacting to THE FIRST MCD OF THE SHOW? AND IT WILL NEVER BE ADDRESSED BASED ON THE INTERVIEWS?! HE WILL JUST BE TOLD OFF SCREEN? ! AND WILL DEAL WITH IT OFF SCEEN?! THEY BARELY SHOWED EDDIE WORKING ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIS ON SCREEN WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU TIM?!

Hen hasn't had a peaceful moment to breathe in most if not all of S8. And with the way the bobby-buck send-off was written, I see mean black lesbian is trying to dei her way to captaincy over poor white cis straight presenting man in her future storylines.

Maddie will have to balance pregnancy, a child, work, and being there for her husband and brother, even separated from how the whole thing impacted her.

The 118 just lost someone they loved and cherished bc tm wanted there to be....stakes....right.....

And to make matters worse, the "reformed" racist was there...he was in that episode. We saw his reaction, whatever there was of it in any case. But a MAIN FUCKING CHARACTER ISN'T?!

And based on the bts, GERARD WILL ALSO BE IN 8x16?!

In what world is any of this what the audience wants? Just for the sake of fucking "stakes" and fucking "realism"....yeah okay.

Hi i had a couple of thoughts about BTs and their shipping, which i posted on my own blog a while ago, but I'd like to throw out here for your thoughts -

BTs and T stans' love for BT seems to be based on a LOT of assumptions and unfounded headcanons, the primary one being that T's racism and sexism and his entire unpleasant personality is not really him, it's all a facade, a self-defence mechanism he developed in response to the discrimination and repression he's suffered, but now that sunshine Evan is in his life, he's going to learn to open up and love again and be vulnerable and transform back into his true self, a sweet kind gentle warm affectionate compassionate loving man who's perfect for Buck - basically they think he'll turn into Eddie (and they're already writing fics like that).

(and some of them think s8 Eddie will turn into T - a lackey and Yes Man for Gerrard)

I feel like the other misconception/assumption that BTs make, which leads them to imagine and root for endgame BT, is that caring about and validating and accommodating buck's feelings and reassuring him and affirming him when he's insecure and showing an interest in and enthusiasm for things he's excited about (you know, like Eddie does)-

Doing all that is actually infantilising him and is bad for him! and what he REALLY needs is someone who doesn't particularly go out of their way to make him feel safe and comfortable and heard and understood. It's time for buck to grow up and mature and get over himself! and T in all his cynical snide casually dismissive condescension is the perfect partner to do that!! This is an ADULT relationship (with lots of sex), as BTs like to say ad nauseum

I think the reason why the perception to Tommy's character is so divided is due to multiple things. First is Buck is bi! This is a great thing to be confirmed and a lots of people got so happy about it that they didn't really cared about Tommy (who is quite literally a plot device during that moment. Any male character could have replaced him and the scene would have stayed the same).

Second: many bt stans started to watch the show after the kiss and refused to go back and watch the rest of the show. Or they went back, but somehow missed the whole point of the Hen and Chimney Begins episodes. If you look into the tag for those episodes, it's filled with gifs about Tommy, raving about how good he looks and don't mention the fact that he was an asshole. There is also a mandela -effect happening and people are trying to make it seem like Tommy was actually in the background and did nothing wrong, when he was the most vocal in the whole group. Chimney Begins shows that Tommy was the one to start the racist comments. They're literally saying that Sal DeLuca (a guy who wasn't even in Chimney Begins and looked annoyed through the whole Hen Begins) was the one who acted like Tommy did in canon.

Third: Lou and his cameos. Not really talking about the fact that he kept raising the price to exploit the fans (though what were we expecting from a nepo baby, who posted pictures of himself lusting after women's asses to insta. Absolutely disgusting). He was the one who set the precedent when he called Tommy's behaviour teasing. He's the one who keeps coming up with tragic backstories to Tommy to excuse his behaviour. He was the one who lied multiple times on his cameos to make his character more relevant. He was the one who decided to fuel all the headcanons by confirming them as long as someone payed him 150+ dollars for a few minutes long video.

Also, I find the whole self-defense mechanism stupid. Tommy was a grown white man during Chimney and Hen Begins (he had to be 28 at the youngest during Chimney Begins for his military backstory to make sense). He could have protected himself by just staying in the background and not participating in the racism. He shown no sign of being uncomfortable with Gerrard's behaviour and the only time he looked annoyed was when Hen was giving her speech. It makes more sense that he just stopped saying bigoted things out loud because the captains after Gerrard were not tolerating it. There is a reason neither Hen or Chimney kept in touch with him after he left the 118. Chimney calling him once for assistance was for work reasons, and in s3 they both make very clear they don't keep in touch with anyone from the old 118.

All of their characterization of Tommy is only fanon. They totally disregard canon. In canon Tommy couldn't care less about Buck's feelings. He left Buck standing on the curb after he annoyed him (and I 100% believe Buck did nothing wrong, that was his first time on the date while being out) and somehow put the blame on Buck for it (which he tends to do a lot. He also blames the enviroment and Gerrard for his racism). Then he totally ignored Buck's planning of the bachelor party (how you show an interest in someone when you couldn't do the fucking minimum), made condescending comments (the henley comment). Being on call is not an excuse, he had to change anyways. Yes, he was in the hospital, but he probably was going there anyways.

I'm not gonna touch the last paragraph with a ten feet pole, because I hate that part and I fear I wouldn't be able to stay civili if I started to talk about that, however if you say things like "fuck the sad out of him" when Buck's dad is in the hospital and how concerned about Tommy is about him, I think it's pretty clear you're only fetishizing them

Idk about you, but I am constantly thinking about how fucking written in the stars smalletho/boat boys were. How crazy it was that their first proper interaction would be in boats, how crazy it is that Joel died alone and burning, how crazy is that Etho built a wool castle and still mourned it burning. How crazy it is for them to be soulmates who actually care about each other in Double Life, how crazy it is that the ship burned and then everything burned, including them. How crazy it is that something changed in them after Double Life and they couldn't stop seeking each other out, becoming obsessed with each other more than they ever willing to admit.

I never quite got over the Ranch, never ever I will be able to not think about "It's over. Go home". Never I will not think how fucking healing this experience was for both of them. To not indulge in self-destruction, to not indulge in the negative thought, to not suppress true emotions either. How they absolutely changed each other’s paths that cannot be undone, like a true soulmate would. How insane that it all started with Tango's death killing Jimmy. How insanely pathetic of a team unit they were, but they had each other and that's what always mattered to them. And maybe they will come to each other again, because they do want to, it's just yet to happen. You could say it's also in the stars.

Always thinking how Grian was probably the main person who kept Joel company in Last Life, even if Joel killed him. They were both red now and on the server full of greens and yellows who killed who didn't matter, there are people that need to be killed, traps to be set, even if they won't work. It's for the the taste of gunpowder and smoke, it's for the thrill of the hunt. And hunt is much more fun when done in the pack. The way Grian always find his way to Joel when he wants people dead, when he needs somewhere to go. When he says he would give his life for him.

The inherent tragedy of Grian being connected to all his teammates' deaths. How he kills them over and over and he hates it. But most of all he always mourns Mumbo, poor Mumbo that keeps leaving him alone like this. Mumbo who has betrayed him, who attacked him. The same Mumbo that ate his soul on hc s8 and declared to be his butler for the session, the same Mumbo had always known as a goofy spoon man, from the unsuccessful mayor campaign, Sahara, always basing near each other. And in his own games he can barely get a read on him. He let's his guard down and he dies to him. "We can still be friends. You can join me".

OKAY Yes, I do have consistent headcanons, and I’ve never properly listed out all my updated headcanons! So I’ll do that here

Grian: Shapeshifter, visually changes every season (S6 = Cod, S7 = Blue Macaw, S8 = Dragon, S9 = Warden Horns, S10 = Cod again)

Bdubs: Undead Human/Plant hybrid. His bones are held together by vines, his teeth are unnaturally pointy, and he grows flowers out of his hair. 

Ren: Cyberdog. He turned into a Dog Hybrid during 3L (after his ears got replaced with dog ears in S7) and then he was turned into a cyborg by Renbob at the end of “Stargazer”

Pearl: Shapeshifter, but not the same as Grian. Her form changes easiest based on how others perceive her (this is why she had demon features in Double Life)

Scar: Human/Vex Hybrid. He was a pure Vex, but his replacement body (via resurrection chamber) was half human

Joel: Beanish. (Yes. Like in Mario) His appearance used to be more human but he lost the charm Lizzie gave him that kept this up due to Double Life’s magic interfering with it 

Zed: Watcher-Eldritch Void Goo hybrid thing possessing a custom made body that resembles a sheep hybrid. He isn’t actually a sheep.

Impulse: Human turned Ender Dragon hybrid. He lost his wings after S8, but one of his horns grew back. It’s pink due to the Amethyst he’d been eating during S8

Tango: Netherborn. He was human as a kid but he was lost in there for so long his Code eventually changed to protect him. He’s got a mix of Ghast, Strider, and Blaze Code in him. His injured arm (S8 finale) has some of Zed’s weird Eldritch Void “blood” in it, as a sort of weird “blood transfusion”

Skizz: Enderhybrid. He was turned into an Enderhybrid during 3rd Life and has been that way since. He has to be careful around water, and he has to avoid eye contact with a lot of people because it can easily aggro him. 

Gem: Enderhybrid, but not the exact same as Skizz. Some of her Ender Bits resemble an End Portal. She also is a magic user, and charms her clothing to change her appearance for different SMPs (S8 = Deer, Empires 2 = Butterfly, S9 = Elf, S10 = Sea Creature, etc…)

Cleo: Eldritch Horror possessing a corpse. Their body is a ship of Theseus at this point Joe: Human, but now with a silly puppet. Yes Joe is the server’s only human.

Cub: Sheep hybrid, but he got goat horns in S7 (during HCBBS, he swapped with Doc and ended up also gaining the favor of the Goatmother). He also has Vex magic, as well as some Skulk scarring from Empires S2

Mumbo: A demon possessing a robot body. He rarely leaves the body, mostly because he finds it more comfortable than using a glamour to disguise himself. He also feels closer to his Redstone machines this way

Jevin: Slime. He has bones in there to keep him stabilized. He definitely got the bones from Cleo. Because she just has that kinda stuff

Etho: Basically a Frankensteined zombie. He was human, and then he ended up being caught by the S5 jungle, and eventually woke up in S6, alone in that hole with Scar’s alien. Which are pretty much his entire body alive. Before the season ended, Doc went back for Etho’s head and kinda begged Cleo to fix him. His limbs can fall off but they’re easily fixable

Beef: Prawn hybrid. Yes, like from District 9. I liked Beef’s S8 skin so much I kept it as part of his lore

Keralis: Shapeshifting Alien. He’s not actually the original Keralis, he accidentally swapped universes with the original Keralis (who was human) when popping up in S6. They’re both chill with this, they’ve probably met at some point

Xb: Guardian hybrid. Since guardians aren’t fully organic in nature he doesn’t need water 100% of the time. 

Hypno: Rabbit hybrid. Nothing to say here

Wels: Pegasus hybrid. Cause. Uh. I like giving him wings

Xisuma: Starborn. He can breathe in the Overworld unlike most Xisuma designs.

False: Bat hybrid, cause I thought it was neat.

Doc: Creeper Cyborg. Creepers are nature-y so he’s got leaves and stuff

the way lou hasn't interacted with anything bt related and yet he continuously interacts with SWAT stuff is certainly interesting, also the way Oliver refuses to follow him or discuss BT ever lol. Lou seems like he's less enthused as well about BT. I think even he knows they're bones.

I've been wondering if Lou got the info he isn't coming back already or that if he is coming back it will be for like one episode. It's just his weird behavior online doesn't make sense for an actor hoping to stick around long term on successful primetime show.

People had been calling out his old racist/misogynistic insta posts for a while and he hadn't said anything but for some reason he chose that particular day to respond to that one with a very creepy screenshot about spitting on blind children. Then he blocked Buddie shippers. Deletes some of those old insta posts. Then apart from liking one of the posts where people made him out to be the victim:

he has basically stopped even engaging with his minions now. He's even stopped making cameos. And I don't know if that's because he was told to or just because those fans served their purpose for him and he's moving on to other things.

Buddie or not I've always gotten the impression that Lou doesn't seem too invested in playing T*mmy and even less in playing one half of a queer relationship long term. I think he thought he was signing on to play T*mmy for a few eps and he'd be done by the end of s7. Which I think was originally the plan.

Look at these older cameos from Lou and how he talked about T*mmy and Buddie. Not saying I believe every thing he's said in any of his videos but these were some of the early ones he put out and I think initially he was going more off of where the script was going vs his own headcanons.

But basically he makes it seem like T*mmy is just there to stir things up a bit until Buck and Eddie figure things out. Only they decided to push Eddie coming out and Buddie feelings realization back until s8 (I wrote a post about my thoughts on that here). So they kept Lou in for a few more eps than he was initially signed on for. This also explains why after ep6 we don't see or even hear about T*mmy again until ep9.

But back to Lou based on the rumors floating around my feeling is that he's getting more of prominent role on SWAT which if he's still being asked back for s8 of 911 and the two shows conflict with one another I 100% believe he'd chose SWAT anyday over 911. Not just because SWAT seems much more his style but also like I said I don't think he's invested in playing T*mmy. He's also just not a good dramatic actor especially not for the soft, intimate, emotional moments. Plus why would he take being Buck's bf who only features on the show occasionally and doesn't really get to do the action scenes that the 118 get to do when he could be a main on SWAT and get to do so much more.

No matter what even if the rumours aren't true about SWAT and even if T*mmy comes back for s8 and even Buddie doesn't happen I don't see B/T making it past s8 at all. I'll be shocked if that ship lasts beyond one ep in s8 so there is no way it's lasting longer than Buck and Taylor.

Apart from whatever is going on with Lou Oliver doesn't seem to like him and I think more than anything that will be what ends B/T. Oliver is a talented professional but he's also one of the biggest reasons people even watch 911 and I'm sure ABC knows that. They're not going to force him to work with a scene partner he's uncomfortable with. Plus I fully expect if we see B/T in s8 the lackluster chemistry with them will be even more apparent than it was in s7. So why continue a relationship if the actors don't have the romantic chemistry together to carry it?

you were also literally just repeating what the actor who plays Eddie said, and yet people sent out a mob 😭. Your “staff-sergeant Eddie” prediction wasn’t some cockamamie “theory;” it was an observation made through an analysis of the show’s themes, narrative, and character backgrounds that also drew on supplemental material. And the fans who jumped you for it believe in things like “fridge-magnet tarot theory” where a tarot reader makes predictions and pulls cards that predict S8 based on the positioning of the magnets on Eddie’s fridge.

You weren’t even the only fan to say this! (Never saw any of the white fans who said similar things get jumped for it. 😒)

I do want to correct that there was no mob, just a screenshot of my post and a lot of vague blogs that I kept stumbling upon thanks to my For You tab. The original screenshot involved people who I know have made much worse “meta” (not naming names but someone who once said that Tommy wants to be with Buck so he can “feel like a good person” because the 118 is a “good person club” with the implication that he isn’t actually a good person, who also once said “hating love interests is a time honored fandom tradition” in order to excuse the rampant homophobia against Tommy) so like I’m not all that bothered but it’s wild that the people that participated in that post making fun of me still appear on my dash from time to time. One especially because they were the one to call me racist for that prediction and I saw them on my dash yesterday.

Do I actually want an apology? I could take it or leave it honestly, but I think the lesson to be learned is that these are, as the above person put it on the screenshot, “not serious people” and my opinion of them, as little as it really matters, has significantly lowered, which is a shame because I used to follow some of those people back before season 7

So for the tens and tens of people out there following my WIPs, I apologize that it's been ages since I posted another chapter. At first it was just a monster case of writer's block but then a potentially devastating health crisis came up--for now it looks like I'm at least not staring down the barrel of imminent doom, but it has been a teensy bit distracting. I'm trying to get the creative engines revving again, but it's slow going. I don't wanna force things and end up cranking out garbage chapters, but it's hard not to pressure myself. Protected. The Magicians, Queliot. Explicit but also full of romance and cuddles. If I had to pick one project as my "crowning achievement," it would be this baby. Had no intention of publishing, but in a sudden fit of daring I posted it to ff.net and it got such an enthusiastic response I kept going. Covers the whole Apocalypse and a few years beyond. Every fic I've written since then owes its existence to this one. 17 chapters.

Of Guilt and Victory. Heartstopper, Nick and Charlie. General Audiences. This one is strange in that the story is what it is because Nick can't bear the thought of finding out someone has un-alived themselves when he knew it might happen and did/said nothing to intervene. This is in regards to Ben but at NO POINT is he forgiven for what he did nor sh*tty behavior in general, but this idea just fell into my mind based on what a beautiful golden retriever of a human Nick Nelson is, and the story evolved from there. It's odd, but I'm proud of it. 7 chapters.

A Series of Odd Proposals. Heartstopper, Nick and Charlie. General Audiences. This is one of those WIPs I mentioned. 8 chapters so far. It follows them through adulthood. In the chapter I'm currently writing their daughter is sixteen.

Buck's Gonna Buck. 911, Bucktommy. Mostly GA, but there is a brief mention of sex toys to I tagged it teen and up. These three "chapters" are just short, ridiculous drabbles. 1) Buck's POV getting ready for a date. 2) Tommy's POV getting ready for the date. 3) The date. Just silly fun. We haven't had much time w/them yet but I'm hoping to write more for them in s8 when there's more material to work with.

All Roads Lead Back. Good Omens, Aziracrow. Teen and up. One of those obnoxious WIPs. Starts a few weeks after s2 ends. 11 chapters thus far and we're tits deep in a rebellion against The Metatron in Heaven and searching for the true Almighty. Also, Muriel is a badass.

The Long Way Home. The Magicians, Queliot. Teen and up. Eliot embarks on a desperate mission to bring Quentin back from the underworld. Angst, danger, adventure, longing, romance, humor. Even a musical episode ********Okay, so this one is unusual in that I was just about to start writing the LAST DAMN CHAPTER when the pandemic hit. And how had I planned to end it since the very beginning? Well our heroes would win the war of course, but as a last act of vicious revenge before defeat the Library was gonna . . . wait for it . . . unleash a deadly pandemic upon the world and kill millions. I came up with this ending long before the pandemic, but . . . yeah. Nope. But I couldn't think of a better idea either. So it just sat there without an ending and thanks to everything else going on in the world I totally forgot about it for like a year. And when I did remember I still couldn't come up with anything better than my original idea. Should I finish it and stick to the original plan even though it's SO on the nose? I am super open to alternative suggestions here, because if it had an ending I absolutely would have listed it right up there with Protected. Currently 12 chapters. Again, alternative ending suggestions super welcome!

I think… Llorumi is an interesting ship with so much potential!

I will always say that Harumi is one of the greatest characters the show has given us. She really took herself from being a simple love interest to something so much more. She’s a girl with hate and vengeance completely directed towards Lloyd: she hates him, is jealous of him, but I also think in a strange way… Harumi kind of grew attached to Lloyd…?

Season 8, beginning to end, was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, and they kept and carried that quality into Season 9 with an even beautifuler (is that a word???) finish! I felt really pulled into Lloyd and Harumi’s “romance”. Every scene between them, even a small interaction at the side of the screen — looking at each other or touching each other’s shoulders — I really felt that budding romance and heart fluttering feeling of attraction, and the music accompanied with their words was so engaging! Engrossing! Captivating! Wow! I loved the betrayal and the big reveal, and the absolute shatter in Lloyd’s heart, I think, was really felt because we were also fooled into this heart-throbbing relationship that was just too good to be true.

Now, what makes me trip was when Harumi asked Lloyd to join the sons of Garmadon… and that’s what makes me think she kind of grew attached to him. After all her life of researching him and planning this elaborate plan with him in the very center; I don’t think she was ready to let go of Lloyd. I think there’s feelings inside Harumi for Lloyd that’s not necessarily romantic, but like… maybe obsessive…? It’s all theory !!

THE SCENE!!! Harumi on top of the crumbling building with no where to go — she’s going to die! I think Harumi knows that she’s going to die! She’s looking around — there’s no hope — she sees Lloyd straight ahead in the distance: they lock eyes! Nothing’s said and nothing’s spoken, BUT THEY’RE TALKING!! WITH THEIR EYES!!! With just their eyes, it felt like they were having a conversation that we are not a part of! It’s private! It’s personal! We are not invited! It’s only for them to know! And it’s meaningful!!! Harumi doesn’t even say anything, she’s not screaming or crying or asking for help or forgiveness… Harumi’s just… quiet. But Lloyd says something, he says, “Rumi…” WOWOWOWOWOW MY HEART!!!!! BROKEN INTO TWO!!!! That was something…

Now, I also don’t believe Harumi had romantic feelings for Lloyd in Season 8/9, keeping true to her words that, “there’s was never anything between us,” BUT: I do believe she gained feelings for him in crystalized. I mean… yeah, the Overlord confirmed that for us, but he implied it with a “still” like she had feelings for him since season 9 and that didn’t make sense to me (unless I interpreted it wrong). Crystalized had its strong and weak moments, (and quick mention that HARUMI’S COMEBACK WAS A VERY CHILLING, JAW-DROPPING SCENE WITH HER LULLABY) my only favorite Llorumi moment was when Lloyd’s trying to escape and considers jumping, but Harumi stops him and… she looks really sincere and caring about Lloyd there and she wants him alive (so she’s already disobeying the Overlord) and even warns him that he could die if he jumps, which is !!!! And I love how Lloyd says, in rejection to her request of joining the crystal king, “If you think I'd ever do that, you don't know me at all!” There’s something about that that I really like, it’s like… telling of something about their relationship — that they like each other, but after all that they’ve been through, they don’t know much about each other because their relationship was purely attractive-based in accordance to Harumi’s plan to fool him. I like how Lloyd says that to acknowledge that they need to grow and learn more about each other! And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE: Lloyd pulling Harumi WITH him ON him INTO him — THEY’RE HUGGING! HIDING THEIR FACES IN EACH OTHER — HARUMI HIDING IN HIS CHEST AND LLOYD HOLDING HER CLOSE!! AHHH!!! Great scene!

And then, when they returned to the jungle… that tension and sincerity, I feel, kind of dies out into meaningless back and forth fighting and flirting. I was honestly expecting, upon reaching that episode, a serious discussion about to go down, but… there wasn’t. And after that episode, Harumi doesn’t get much dialogue or attention, and she gets rushly redeemed. I kind of wish Lloyd had brought Harumi with him and she’s forced to work with him and the ninjas against the Overlord, and I’m sure she’ll probably fakingly agree just to screw them over because her loyalties lie with the Overlord, but if she’s in the middle of the mess she helped cause and see the families being torn apart AGAIN and being stuck with Lloyd more closely; I’m sure it would’ve been beautiful to see her guilt and confused feelings, and that could’ve been a more fleshed out redemption before she finally does switch sides and turn her loyalties over to Lloyd completely.

Anyways, I think it’s really great and mature for them to show us a relationship where they both feel hurt by the other but they still love each other… because that’s how relationships can be in real life! It’s not perfect — it’s messy! There’s arguments! We say things in a burst and we hurt other people’s feelings sometimes and we make mistakes and we miscommunicate a lot. Relationships are a struggle and I like how Llorumi can demonstrate that struggle. Not everbody has a relationship like Jay and Nya or Pixal and Zane, so I think it’s great for a cartoon to show us how to heal and grow in a relationship like Llorumi, to learn how to be a good boyfriend and (if Harumi is developed as a character) to be a good girlfriend, to communicate and be gentle after being so harsh, and I think through Llorumi, there’s a lot of potential!

These are just my thoughts and opinions. It is not my intention at all to start an argument or say my opinions are true over others.

I don’t have any headcanons for them, but thank you for this ask and wanting to know my thoughts!

how did you decide which species to use for your centaur scars? :0 some are self explanatory like camel but i'm REALLY interested in giraffe and antelope

Honestly it was just based on vibes dkgkdkgkd

I picked out some animals with hoofs and sorted them to each life series based on what I thought would fit. There's no proper research because I am lazy and couldn't bother FJVKDKGKDK

My first picks were:

3l- Llama or a camel. I decided to go with camel and thought s8 scar could be a Llama because that would make him dying to a Llama even funnier.

Ll- mountain goat or a reindeer. Reindeer didn't really fit the vibe for ll scar.

Dl- zebra or okapi. Went with zebra because I knew I wouldn't be coloring them and okapi would look better colored.

Liml- gazelle or a bison. Gazelle... well. Those legs would NOT support him. They'd crumple under him. Bison was another fun option I wanted to go with but it didn't really fit. I kept looking for different animals and found out about the antelope and thought it fit perfectly.

Sl- honestly no clue how I thought of that one. That one was the first I drew and I had that design for a while. That's also the design that made me think of this whole idea in the first place!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, i went down a rabbit hole (what’s up australian/nz tumblr friends) about if australia was a top sheet or no top sheet country and then i deleted the entire scene anyway because it was useless. i keep having the same fucking conversation happening and i’ve decided to lean into it and pretend it’s intentional. i’m at 9k and the idea that i am supposed to have a happy ending is making me sweat nervously; i think the deleted bits are probably another 2 or 3 thousand words. i read an actual medical journal article and i don’t know why. i’m also writing in a slightly different style than normal, let’s call it mauve? prose?, which just adds another layer. when i finally finish this thing ya’ll better pat my ass so hard me and this fanfic are fighting to the absolute death. i don’t even really ship cameron/chase guys.

here is a scene i cut out of the story entirely, in part because it sent me down another rabbit hole: park does mention she knows chase was once married to a coworker early in s8, but how much do the new kids know about cameron and how much of it was taub gossiping:

Adams comes into the conference room all frustrated, which means she’d swung by the ICU before work again. “I wish you’d try and visit Chase after work and not before,” Park says; she finds Adams’s post-visit huffiness supremely irritating.

House isn’t in, and although Park had seen Taub’s car in the lot when she’d come in, he isn’t around either.

“You haven’t gone to see him at all,” Park says, sitting as far diagonal from Adams as possible.

“He’s made it pretty clear he doesn’t want visitors.” Park makes a face, despite wanting to be neutral and cool about it: truth be told, this bothers her just as much as it does Adams; Chase is her friend. “It isn’t like our presence is speeding the healing process.” Even though it feels like it should, somehow: Park is a scientist and she knows better. Even still. Truth be told, it makes her feel better that he doesn’t want to see Adams either, and anyway, Adams is probably only going because she feels guilty, and because she’s very pretty and Chase is very pretty and, well, Park knows how these things happen.

She flips resolutely through a textbook she’d grabbed off the shelves. House kept it there specifically to taunt Chase, because it had been written by Chase’s dad — the dust flap did confirm Dr. Rowan Chase was based out of Melbourne — and if Park really tries it almost feels that by reading it they’re connecting.

“He had one yesterday,” Adams confides in an eager half-whisper, leaning towards Park, distance forgotten.

“One of his girlfriends?” Park frowns: except for the odd nurse he hooks up with at work, Chase usually keeps his floozies far away from the hospital.

“I don’t know,” Adams admits. “When he kicked me out, he said she was taking care of him.” She leans back, considers Park closely, although for what Park has no idea. “I think she was his ex wife.”

Park ponders this revelation. “Huh.” Chase had briefly been married to one of the doctors here, she knows: it was sort of common hospital gossip, usually brought up whenever a newer nurse was starting to make eyes at him. The warning went to the effect of he’s only looking for sex: he got married once, it lasted all of a month, look out. Her name was Cameron, Park knows, because House occasionally — but not as often as she would have assumed — likes to insult Chase’s intelligence by bringing her into things. When Park imagines her, she assumes tall and blonde and huge boobs, which is unfair: not that doctors can’t be stacked, but it is statistically unlikely Cameron was formerly a stripper.

i don’t know why it surprising to me that empires is ending so soon😭😭 on one hand i feel like it’s sudden and rushed but also i think i’ve been able to tell that some people in particular haven’t been feeling it for a while or were struggling to find passion for it. my perception could be off but in my head it kinda feels like they never really recovered from the holiday-induced content break tbh. logically i know the season’s been going for a while but it just feels so short

I think it's always gonna be hard to end a lore-based server. Frankly, HC S8 did it best, but moon big was in the works for months and people still felt it was "rushed." Even the empires season one ending seemed a bit random to me, but I also only really watched Jimmy so idk what other signs there were leading up to it. I also know what you mean about some people not being fully into it--it's just that late season slump that happens to a lot of SMPs. It's easier to find passion and interest with a fresh start. I'm personally not too sad about the prospect of it ending because I always kind of preferred S1, and as a Jimmy main I was getting a bit bored of the toy thing. Like I love the concept of Tumble Town and the cowboy aesthetic but at lot of the episodes weren't gripping me the way I wished they would? The faeries really interested me, but I haven't kept up enough to really know the full plot details on that (yes, i know i should watch the recap). Other than that, the crossover was definitely the highlight of the season, but now it's over. I do think that the crossover event ending just around the content break time sort of threw the momentum off everything because then it's a question of "where do we go following that massive event?"

My main reasons I wasn't surprised was how it is getting longer than S1. Both S1 and S2 started in June, but S1 ran June-January and S2 ran June-now, May. So while Hermitcraft has a precedent for doing long seasons, Empires does not, and I was wondering if they were going to keep it going past the one year mark or wind it down. I also noticed they brought back the crown plotline, which was a late-story addition in S1 as well. So I was already wondering if we were in final weeks/months.

Anyway, I'm interested to see where it is going. Do we know if they're doing a S3? I assume they would? I'm fine with a fresh start but not ready to let go of empires as a whole!

You're making me put them in order??!! That's just cruel. But I'm taking this task very seriously and pulling up pictures of all the male islanders to make my very scientific observations. And let me tell you: Lewie doesn't even get consideration for the top 20

Also, I think it's unfair to base this on design when the designs vary widely. It gives a distinct disadvantage to S1/S3/S5/S7 and an advantage to S6. So I'll give you this list, but just know that if I were basing it solely on which characters I think would be the hottest irl, it would be different

Top 5 hottest male islanders (completely objective, any other answer is wrong):

Roberto. I truly do think his design is top-notch (except his hand but we won't consider stuff like that because they've all got issues), and if I saw someone who looked like him irl I'd be drooling out of both corners of my mouth. He's literally one of the main reasons I played S6 in the first place, and the more I look at him, the hotter he gets

Marshall. Another one who if I saw him irl, I'd be melting. But he's hot from Roberto in a different way - Marshall is all sexual chemistry, Roberto has that but also has a wholesomeness that makes him perfect. Also as I said last night, if Marshall shaved/cut his hair, he'd look like Ozzy 🤣 and Ozzy's not in my top 5. It's the mouth, sorry - Marshall loses points for that

Oliver. djklfjds that is a good-looking man, and he's tall, and we all know he's packing

Levi. even with the S1 art style, he still makes the list. He's hot, and he gets extra points for the little red shorts. He put me through hell in S1 but I stuck with him anyway because he's so hot

I'm stuck between a few but I think I'm gonna go with Andy. He's just really cute and the design is really good

Other strong considerations: Jude, Lucas, Noah, Miles, Hamish, Will

Additional honourable mentions whose designs do them no favours:

Jake - he would be way up there if not for his design. The vision is there, and I've said a million times that I'd love to see him in a cleaner, updated art style

Suresh - I know a lot of people love him and think he's so hot, but I think his sprite is actually pretty middling. BUT he has a ton of potential, and I've seen an incredibly attractive faceclaim for him, so he could've been way better in a better style

Rafi - my looooove I seriously considered him for the top 5 but I just couldn't justify including his cartoony art style. The boy is objectively hot, but the design means there are better options

Theo - the S8 art style was fine, but he's kinda... bland? Like I think he could be so hot, but just looking at his sprite doesn't do much for me

Kobi - very hot man, but the more I looked at his headshot, the more I was like, nah something's missing

Joyo - I think he's the hottest S7 character but his pose is off and I hate the S7 art style in general

What I learned from this is while I still love the S2 art style, something about it kept me from including any of the characters in my top 5. Lucas and Noah were strong considerations because I do think they're both very hot, but when I was considering design, I couldn't put them in the top 5.

teeveedee had the habit of casually throwing around terms like "your girl" as if women are supposed to be property of men.For e.g in the sc wedding episode, Damon called Caroline Stefan's "your girl" while in the same episode Dorian referred to Caroline as Ric's (🤮) "your girl" .

Yeah they did this throughout the show I felt, in S4 Alaric kept saying the same thing to Damon like "you got the girl" or whatever. It actually doesn't bother me that much, I felt like it came from the fact that the show thrives off of love triangles and the whole "one special girl" thing. Also the fact that show always valued women more based on the amount of men that cared about them, not saying that was a good or not misogynistic it's just how the show worked. I mean look at Caroline in S8 she's got Stefan who wants to marry her, Alaric still hopelessly in love with her (VOMIT), Matt being her assistant, Damon protecting her and calling her family and you've got Klaus still hanging around as a possibility based on what happened in S7.

When they based together in s8 i didn't know either of them too well so i kind of assumed they were already like very often hanging out together welp turns out it's not really true :[ Etho spent very little time in s8 and Iskall was a little burnt out at that point I'm pretty sure? Also i never finished Iskall's POV ^^; but i like that Iskall just kept giving Etho more diamonds and Etho kept spending them all KDKKDKFKKDKFKK

THEIR BASE TOGETHER COULD'VE BEEN SO GREAT. I'm so freaking upset they built so little there. They're both very creative builders and redstoners, if they worked on a project together IT COULD'VE BEEN SO HYPE.

I like a moment from the very beginning of s8, where Iskall wants to get books for an enchanting table, and he thinks what if searching for a village and stealing their books would be more efficient? So he spends hours exploring and comes back with very few books, and sees that Etho has already got a full enchanting setup going, and a super efficient, TNT-powered cow farm :"D at that point i still barely knew who Etho was, but that was a good introduction to him i guess LMAO

Lastly, i don't ship them and i don't like this ship much 😔 i think they would sleepy together platonically (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠)
