Luckily I had a bit of extra time this week to do thumbnails!#I knew I wanted to have a comic dedicated to this very emotional scene (He's back! The boy is back!).#However. Was this tender moment also derailed by my realization that throughout all these tender tears of joy...#...LWJ was standing there silently. He had no prior relationship to Wen Ning besides the fact WWX knew him.#Meanwhile everyone is having *so* many emotions over him reassuming his consciousness.#Audio formats are so fun when moments like this happen. You can very easily forget that LWJ is in the scene. Silent. Dying of awkwardness.#But this isn't just about him! Our beautiful boy returns!#No longer is he this physical reminder of broken promises! No longer is he forced into acts of violence her abhorred when he was alive!#This is the kindness of necromancy - of truly bringing someone back.#But we all know there is always a cost. No one comes back the same after dying.#Even if you were perfectly put back together - you died! Wen Ning was tortured to death! He was never going to be the same gentle boy again #And dear god I love how he parellels WWX's own death and rebirth. Not once but *twice*.#Of coming back from death but colder and resentful. And then coming back from a second death ready to heal and move forward.#They are both creatures of violent change who still choose kindness when they can.#MXTX keeps on cooking with the parallels and I am overwhelmed at the buffet.

been thinking about jason being petty towards bruce. like, oh, you spend time with your other kids, but not me? tire privileges revoked! it would be over stupid shit too.

like there’s one time bruce decides to take damien to the movies, and jason is just beside himself.

like the conversation would be like:

JASON: So, let me get this straight—you took Damian to a movie.

BRUCE: He asked.

JASON: Oh, and I wouldn’t have wanted to see Kung Fu Panda 4 with you?!

BRUCE: You were busy.

JASON: Busy taking down a cartel. Which, by the way, I learned from you. I deserve quality time!

BRUCE: Jason—

JASON: No. No excuses. You’ll learn.

Jason storms off. Five minutes later, an alert pops up on the Batcomputer.

BATCOMPUTER: Warning: Batmobile rear tires have been removed.

BRUCE: …Jason.

Cut to Jason outside, rolling two Batmobile tires away, cackling.

#this isn’t the last time jason steals the tires #bruce keeps doing stuff with the other batkids #and Jason is like look at this opportunity #like imagining if tim gets arrested for something bc i mean come on tims a menace #then bruce just bails tim out and just the week before jason was arrested and bruce let him sit in jail for like two days #jason blew up something so like bad jason #either way jason is like i warned you batbitch and he steals the tires from the batmobile again and then who knows what happens to the tires #unfortunately it gets worse #bc bruce then takes dick to a fancy ass dinner #and it’s to one of Jason’s favorite stakehouses #Like it was the only fancy food place he could stand #good steak is good steak #and jason’s like this is crossing a line #so instead of stealing the tires again #he just takes the entire batmobile #how? no one knows #no one sees the batmobile again or the tires #at least until Batman gets a call from various members of the JL asking him why pieces of the batmobile have been popping up in the city #however it’s about the car itself #no one knows where the tires are still #jason calling Oliver up and saying like i don’t like you man but like we both don’t like batman want his tires?#jason todd #bruce wayne #dick grayson #tim drake #dc universe #batman #batfamily #batfam #damian wayne

“can you stop eating that?”

your eyes snap to the red-head in-front of you, abruptly stopping your chewing. he’s looking at you and it was very clear he was quite disturbed of the sight of you—you eating fries.

to spite him, you shove the rest of the golden stick (how do you describe fries without making it awkward what) into your mouth to deliberately make him even more annoyed. the furrow of his brows quickly made it’s appearance and it feels agonizing to stop your laughter because is he really that bothered to you eating fries?

look, you know he has confessed his hatred or dislike of the food. either it was from one of his many interviews or he straight up told you himself, but it didn’t affect you because that was his preference—not yours. “andd if i say no?” you ask as a shit-eating grin threatens to show through your facade.

he shrugs, “i’d rather snatch it away from you anyway.” now you were the one to be bewildered by how serious he sounds. is this guys alright? is he actually upset… “don’t you dare!” you scramble to pick up the bag of fries you were eating from but he was always faster—swiftly snatching it before you could.

okay well that was not what you expected to happen. your hand was still hovering to the place where you precious fries once stayed but you were looking at him with a look of confusion and surprise. never once has he done this before (but to be fair, you never ate things like this in-front of him either).

his fist is clenching the bag and without context, it just looks like he stole it because he wanted to eat it.

“…sae?” you’re asking him slowly because this is probably the most emotion he’s shown you in a week. like he was in a trance, he’s suddenly slapped back into reality to look back at you. “sorry.” he says as he places your fries back onto the table, silently shoving back in your direction.

deciding against picking another fry up.

neither of you speak.

silence fills the room.
