A character looks straight into the camera and says "I'm not interested in romance" and people will still say "No, it's not confirmed they're aromantic!!!" "They could change their mind!!!" "it's a challenge for them to overcome!!!" "They'll have character development that makes them fall in love"

It's like they are given the most blatant answer to a character romantic orientation and they actively ignore it. all the while all it takes is subtext for people to speak as if it is fact for a character to be any other sexuality.

The teachers at Casper High are in Washinton DC for a teachers' convention.

Lancer: Lord of the Flies, I hope the school is still standing when we return.

Tetslaff: If anything happens I'll whip them into shape.

Lancer: *Sigh* Do not harm the children. But at least we are getting a vacation, even if it's a working vacation.

The two of them are sitting on the second floor looking over the convention. Chatting away about several of the things they've seen and learned.

Tetslaff: So far none of these booths have anything to say about what to do in an attack. What weapons students should carry. Kids need to learn how to deal with ghost attacks and the like.

Lancer: Not everywhere gets attacked, there is a panel in an hour titled "Executive Safety Planning" that I've signed us up for. It seems like it may be helpful for us.

Tetslaff: ha Students should learn to be prepared for-

BOOM

A giant hole is blown in the side of the building. Several armed goons are coming through the hole. Panic ensues.

Tetslaff: *turning to Lancer* Not everywhere gets attacked huh?

Lancer: Moby Dick.

Wonder Woman is soon on the scene.

Tetslaff of course is armed herself and will not be taken lightly, she helps deal with the goons. Lancer is helping people evacuate.

The Goons are a distraction for Cheetah to steal something that's being held at the convention center. Some new technology for learning that can easily be turned into a weapon.

Is that canon!?! Was Machete just really naive/didn't really understand the implications of his relationship to Vasco? Did his mentor ever find out about them or discuss such things with him? I assume bc he didn't have parents, he kinda didn't get educated on sex or anything. Was it a big shock to realize he was "sinning"?

#eh I was just exaggerating it for comedy because the page was so unintentionally funny and fitting #he might've been a little bit naive but was painfully aware he was in a relationship with a man and that it was forbidden #his mentor was all about asceticism and mortification and extreme self-denial #and had drilled it into his head that practically all romantic feelings let alone sex were foolish and sinful and should be shunned #so his feelings about the whole thing were complicated but in the end Vasco was more important #not to sound corny #but there was a hole in his heart that he had desperately tried to fill with god that never seemed to care about him #and once he got some of that love he had been aching for #from another living person #he had to do what it takes to make room for that in his belief system #how could such a tender fulfilling and healing thing be wrong #answered #anonymous #his mentor did eventually find out about them and wasn't very happy about it #to put it mildly #but by that point Machete had managed to mostly inch his way out from under his heel #he was graduating and getting ordained and wouldn't be going back to Naples #if it were up to him he'd never want to see him again
