this one. took awhile. also this isnt a list that like,, shows which one i hate?? i love, all of them! just some a little less, but if i had to rank em, this is how id do it! So this is more of a “most favorite to i still like them, but i like these guys more!!”

(1) Yancy

i like him the most honestly because hes just.. he means so much to me?? ive got no clue as of why i attached to him so hard, but something about the way he sings and dances, his daddy issues, his past, the way he smiles and just how dramatic he is. he makes my heart soar, i want to give him all he deserves. hes an amazing person to me.

literally couldnt pick one favorite. warfstache was the first ego i fell in love with, due to his complex character and lore!! i love how in WMLW hes sincere with abe, and i love how kind he is before he goes “insane”. i love how hes a loyal man as william J barnum, and hes just AUGHHHH!! hes got so much to him and i love him so so so so much!! hes SO cool!! LIKE SPACE!!!

eric is a hot and close second. i love how timid and nervous he is, and i love how he canonically comes back, and somewhat gets over that!! i LOVE characters with a tragic past, which is why yancy and wilf are first!! i love eric sosososo much, i wanna kiss his head and hold him, he deserves the world!! hes only second cause yancy and warf are some of my BIGGEST hyperfixations.

ironically loved him and now i unironically love him. i love the confidence and the stupid fucking suaveness, it makes me laugh! i also headcanon hes a genuinely nice guy, and often teaches at the prison because he works with a program and such!! i like to think he genuinely loves his job, and is maybe (100%) is autistic over archaeology. i love his energy!!!

i love him. i just, i do! i love how sincere of a man he is, how soft and serious he is, BUT HE CARES SO FUCKING MUCH FOR WILLIAM AND IT HURTS!!!! i hc him as such a nice man, who is genuinely doing his best to make everybody happy. he also deserves the world.

I FUCKING LOVE THE JIMS I LOVE THE HCS THAT PEOPLE COME UP WITH I LOVE READING THEM IN FICS!!! they are SOSOSOSOOO silly!!! devilish little bastards, rats!! rats in my walls!! I LOVE THEM.

hes a stupid brat man child and i love him. hes such a smart guy, and yet so dumb and adventurous, i love his energy, and i love how hes basically captains puppy???? he really comes in close with damien for me, but we dont get much of his character in ISWM, so honestly its hard to form a solid opinion on him! otherwise i think hes absolutely fucking hilarious and i adore him and his personality.

i love you. i have the hc of him being edgy and evil, but hes also doing it mostly all for show. i love how its literally all out of spite because he fucking hates actor, and i love how hes just there to fuck up his plans. i love thinking hes just— HES A CAT, MAN. A SNARKY LITTLE SHIT, I LOVE HIM, HES GREAT. i also love the hc that he goes by most pronouns!! mostly he/they, but sometimes she/her and im absolutely fucking here for it. slay girliepop!!!!

do i. do i have to explain? hes a douche! i fucking love him! over confident idiot, who looks epic?? dude, thats just me!! i just fucking adore his vibe, love how you see him interact with google in fics and shit, i just, THERES JUST SOMETHING ABOUT HIM THAT MAKES ME LAUGH IN SUCH A GOOD WAY!!!

hes a dumb egomaniacal asshole and i love it. hes fucking stupid and greedy, is also a man child, and i can absolutely see him pouting and stomping his foot when upset. HE ALSO KILLS HIMSELF FOR FUNSIES I JUST THINK THAYS FUCKING HILARIOUS??? literally dies and says to damien “hey i want you to be my villain, bye!!” and RUNS OFF TO MAKE ANOTHER UNIVERSE?? HELLO??? also hes evil and im here for that, slay king, fuck things up!

hes funny as fuck and ive read a few fics with him. love how people think he interacts with Bim and the jims, i also think he would be good friends with eric, considering they both LOVE animals!! love his outfit too!! hes just silly, and i like to think hes this nice energetic guy whose just really passionate over squirrels :)

show host. thats it. cannibalistic show host. love it. its me core, i love him. i like to think hes a nice guy, but also has manic undertones and a slight sinister feeling about him and OH BOY AM I FUCKING HERE FOR IT. im a sucker for the over dramatic show host type, and its a reason why i actually love spamton too! i love the “always have a professional smile even though im clearly extremely angry at you, so ill just be as passive aggressive as possible, haha!!” GOD I LOVE HIM

OF COURSE I THINK HE MATCHES WITH YHE HOST!!!!!!! their dynamic is so cute in fics dont even fucking get me STARTED. anyways, i love how much of an asshole he is in the skit(s??), but i also love how people write him as this caring and hardworking man. he would get along well with eric, dark, and the host in my eyes! maybe even yancy, because theyre both kinda a reserved character in my mind!

hes cool!! i love that hes a sinister sentient AI, and is always a fucking smartass. i love smartasses that are always serious and always follow the rules. Tenya iida core, iykyk— uh, love the guy!! again, love how hes an asshole, yet i still hc he cares about the others and alla that, he just doesnt show it and blahblahblah. also love his design, its something so simple yet, it really pops!! love the art people make of him, and i also love the asshole confidence hes got—

Any Supernatural muses. Would love more TFW interactions, with the boys or with her dad, Cas. Would also love to write her being a big sis to Jack. Also open to OCs too, throw your hunters and supernatural being as Alexis.

Modern verses for Merlin muses maybe, could be reincarnation or brought back to life (like Arianna). Would also love more knights to write with, whether canon or oc.

Dungeons and Dragons muses in general, can be original characters, from Critical Role (I've never watched it but know of the characters), Baldur's Gate 3 (I've played a little of Act 1 with Ilidaria) or from the newer movie. Just let my girl go on adventures and make friends.

Just more One Piece muses in general, especially more Strawhats (I haven't written at all with Usopp, Franky, Brook or Jimbe yet). Also would love other characters too, just anyone you wanna throw at her (would kind of love a Bepo because Kimiko would befriend him straight away). OCs too!

Just any Bleach muses. I haven't written her really at all yet. So any muses canons or OCs would be really awesome.

As much as I would love Dark Matter canon muses, I know it's kind of an obscure show so I know they probably aren't really out there. So just give me some good sci-fi stuff. Or I would love to write her Zombie AU verse as a Last of Us verse with some Last of Us muses (can be show or game based, I love both)

Just more Marvel muses, would love a Torres to write with or just more new Team Cap shenanigans. Or family threads with Sharon, Steve and Peggy. you do NOT wanna get me started on chrono stone bc i'll never shut up abt its wasted potential 😭there's a reason it's my least favorite season of the entire ina11 franchise out of the ones i've watched (we'll see if galaxy steals its place when i'm done with it lol)

i also would have loved to see more interactions of kinako with the rest of the cast. i'd say the entire season has this problem - between all the new concepts and world-building introduced in the season, new characters and the unnecessarily convoluted time-travel plot, there is no time for the story to slow down and let us sit a bit with the characters; watch them interact, get to know their thoughts on the situation, let them feel things and have those feelings matter.

in my opinion GO in general suffers from the lack of filler and lower stakes subplots, but while it felt like season 1 at least tried, chrono stone barely does.

additionally, i think fei has the same problem, with that he primarily interacts only with tenma, and when he does it's rarely not about the time travel mechanics or the vague idea of "saving soccer". it's so draining to watch.

and hard agree abt kirino being put on the backseat after the france arc. other characters who aren't the gryphon trio or fei (maybe kinako but honestly, i think the narrative doesnt prioritize her and her motivations as much as fei's): taiyou, nishiki, shinsuke, kirino and fucking torb all get left behind after their arc is done. and i'm aware that they're supporting characters, but it doesn't feel like it was planned, it feels rushed.

to take kirino as an example (bc he's my fave, unsurprisingly): ideally after the france arc we'd see moments that highlight the transformation of his character - his confidence growth, how comfortable he finds himself in a supportive role now that he has realized that this is where he can shine and contribute to the team. show him directing and rallying the defence on field and show him leading and caring for the team off field, slowly showing how in the future he will take on as raimon's captain. show him and shindou being a dynamic duo, the front and back leaders, maybe you could even have tenma notice kirino's growth and have that affect his self-esteem when he's doubting how well he does as a captain.

there is so much to be done with what they had already established, but they don't do anything with it.

as a sidenote, since i mentioned torb before - what a useless character. i literally screamed after he joined the team because WHY. "oh he's a member of the strongest eleven-" idgaf this should have been kurama. this should have been someone from the og cast, we don't need another character to fill up space here i'm begging you. i literally keep forgetting about him because he is that irrelevant.

and lastly, keshin armed. once again, hard agree. my jaw straight up dropped when i saw characters just doing it in the final matches out of nowhere like okay, so we don't care about anything huh

i love this scene so bad, kirino walks up to this nobleman with no fear, tells him like it is and when kinako sees it she jumps in to support him, letting him do the main talking and have his moment while she gets to taunt the guy (and use her upperclassman as a shield skshfhfkjs). her support of kirino during this arc was SO sweet. she liked jeanne too, she connected with her as well but she saw that as much as she wanted to miximax with her, it was not something she needed. but kirino did, so she selflessly decided to help him achieve that :( screaming crying throwing up

truly the duo of all time, if chrono stone bothered to give them more moments together

finally finished Mashin Sentai Kiramager

for those who don’t know i burned myself out bad on super sentai so i took a break from it and it presented the best way to watch Sentai and Rider for me now. as opposed to at the same time, i’m going one by one now.

I watched Zero One entirely on its own. once that finished i kicked on Kiramager and enjoyed it immensely. it just felt refreshing and fun, it was a good time!

i don’t really do “reviews” since i end up saying mostly the same things but i enjoyed it. i found it a little odd that out of the 4 main villains, the heroes only took out one (Yodom) since Garuza switched sides, Yodom betrayed Yodonna and Kurantula switched sides. then it got me thinking of Ryusoulger where the last two villains (the one from space and the magician one) escaped at the end of the show

Garuza’s whole thing....well. i kinda wish he remained main villain simply because sealed evil / overseeing but never present main villains aren’t that good. Garuza stealing Yodom’s throne to become the main threat was cool we’d been invested in Garuza as a villain for a lot longer so it felt earned in that way. i cared for Yodom as much as I cared for the Ninninger main villain. Not at all.

That one story decision aside, i enjoyed everything else for real. I think Tametomo wound up being my fave tho Takamichi was always entertaining. SHINING!

tho can someone explain to me the resolution of episode 40? cause it left me depressed and i dont know if i misinterpreted it. i just don’t get it.

now that its done i’m moving back to kamen rider for saber which is now about 20 episodes in. tho i have to say...i really wanna see zenkaiger cause i’m very confused and excited about the lil passing of the torch i just saw

see usually at the end of a series there is a very brief like 15 second scene where the current red warrior and the next one interact.

so imagine my confusion

when i saw this

what the actual fuck and whomst is this? is he the zenkaiger red warrior? cause he’s white.

and he’s got a 45 on his head! FORTY FIVE!? Is he related to AkaRed?

i of course took more look at his design. i freaking love it. the really retro looking visor, the colored lines for the warrior colors, in his case red, yellow, green, blue and pink then of course the stark white everywhere. the V sentai symbol on his belt, the 45 on his head. there gotta be some link to AkaRed who we haven’t seen since Gokaiger.

AkaRed first appeared in the Boukenger VS Super Sentai Crossover as the red warrior representing 30 series, AkaRed returned in Gokaiger as Captain Marvelous’ teacher, there he had an additional V on his designs for 35. Jyuohger was 40 but there was no anniversary anything for that series and now we’ve got this. I am very very excited for Zenkaiger. Very much so.

high school au is basically kimetsu gakuen au for idiots squad and i have so many things i wanna write about it heheheh

Kimetsu Gakuen!AU

- actually i'm behind on the kimetsu gakuen series so i can't remember the exact name of tanjirou's class, but just know that he's the vice president of the class to ayame's class president

- ayame is actually very very busy. she's also vice-captain of the kendo club, she has an acapella group with zenitsu, nezuko, kanao and genya, on top of her class duties

- i feel like the only time ayame actually relaxes is when she's hanging out with tanjirou, zenitsu and inosuke. i mean, there's still plenty of shenaniganery happening there, but it's the kind she doesn't have to think about, and she finds it relaxing

- tanjirou does not find his friend group relaxing at all. they're his main source of stress, actually

- he still wouldn't trade them for the world

- ayame and tanjirou, naturally, grew up as neighbours, but in that kind of detached way where they just kinda revolve around each other rather than actually interacting with each other

- they only became actual friends after tanjirou's father passed, actually. the kamados practically lived with the higuchis after tanjurou's death. by the time their first year of high school started, tanjirou and ayame definitely saw each other as friends

- they're the only ones who think they're only friends

I've noticed that you've been reblogging a lot of The Untamed recently and I have just finished The Untamed & literally cannot think about anything else. I'm obsessed. Anyway, I've also noticed from your blog that your favorite seems to be JGY and I find that *fascinating*. He's very much not my fav, but he's such a complex character that I would love to hear your thoughts & feelings & analysis?

And to be completely clear, I will never try to debate with you or say your opinions are wrong or immoral or anything. I'm not an anti, I've stanned plenty of villains in my time. I'm just genuinely curious. I think the fact that you have such different feelings about this character is part of the beauty of stories and a testament to how complex and smart this particular story is.

Hello friend! First of all, thank you for your ask -- I love talking about my fictional faves, so there’s no need to apologize at all! There are definitely people out there who have already posted much more cohesive and succinct character analysis for JGY, but I’ve sat down for a bit to find an answer to the question of why I, personally, like him so much. I ended up finding six possible ways to answer this question, which I’ll list below and then go into (a lot) more detail under the cut. Hope you enjoy!

1) I like him because his motivations as a villain are complex and understandable

2) I like him because there’s no easy solution to his conflicts

3) I like him because he interacts with the story in a unique way

4) I like him because when we see him on top of his game, it’s fun to watch

5) I like him because LXC likes him

6) JGY is very small and has dimples

So, onward! (2.7k)

1) I like him because his motivations as a villain are complex and understandable

One possible way of looking at JGY is that throughout the entire story, his end goal is to eliminate all of the Jin family and come out on top as sect leader, chief cultivator and most powerful person in the cultivation world. However, I personally find it more intriguing to think that his specific plans shifted throughout the story and that he didn’t follow a long con the way NHS did, but that the common ground in everything he does is that he’s motivated by wanting security. Then, everything that he does afterwards is a step-by-step escalation when no matter what he does and how far he comes, his goal is always dangled right in front of him, but ultimately impossible to reach.

When he joins the Nie clan, on a superficial level it seems that this place could offer him the security he wants and needs, especially with NMJ protecting him -- but on the flip side of the coin, no one apart from NMJ and NHS seem to respect him, and his security entirely depends on NMJ’s goodwill. It’s an exteremely fragile position that could probably only ever last for a limited amount of time. Even if JGY never killed the guard captain and wasn’t thrown out of the Unclean Realm, how would the future have looked like for him? NMJ’s life expectancy was low to begin with, and once he had died (of natural causes, in this hypothetical case), NHS wouldn’t have been able to hold the same protective hand over JGY as his brother, and JGY would have become the disrespected advisor to the disrespected clan leader. (On a side note, I personally don’t think JGY released XY to get the yin iron -- I think it makes more sense that he wanted to use XY as bargaining chips against WC, seeing how he goes to free him immediately after WC asks for NMJ to release XY, to save the Unclean Realm and, in extension, his own ass.)

After JGY is thrown out, he’s basically out of options -- it’s go big or go home, because which other clan would take him in now? So he sets his sight on being recognized by JGS once more, and in order to succeed, he derives the plan of becoming a spy under WRH and do something so “heroical” that after the war, JGS has no other choice but to accept him into his clan. And at first, it seems like he succeeds and that he finally gets everything he wished for -- his father recognizes him as a son and gives him a position, he’s part of the Jin clan, he has power, he’s secure! But then it turns out that he was wishing on the monkey’s paw. His father doesn’t truly recognize him, and even in the Jin clan he’s disrespected (by JGS, by Madam Jin, by Jin Zixun), he doesn’t truly hold power (he just has to do whatever JGS tells him to), and he’s not secure (JGS instrumentalizes him because he’s useful to him right now, but does that mean he’ll be useful forever? So there’s a constant threat there).

I think the only reason JGS officially adopts JGY is that it allows him to claim the victory over WRH for the Jin clan and to expand his own power. Instead of JGY being recognized, JGS instrumentalizes him from the very first second and to make it worse, he makes JGY his attack dog the same way WRH did. I think the things JGY does under both WRH and JGS are absolutely horrifying, but I can’t help but also feel horrified for him. Under WRH, I think he tells himself that whatever he does is the lesser evil because it’ll end the war quicker, and that it’ll all be worth it in the end, and as a result, he loses parts of his own humanity there. And then under JGS, it’s the same fucked up shit again, except that this time, he also wants so very badly for JGS to value him, and in addition, he’s also completely out of options now. Without wanting to excuse the things he does under JGS, the only alternative at this point is for him to leave the Jin clan and the cultivation world as a whole, and I do think there’s a definite possibility that JGS would have him killed if he did because he knew too much about JGS’s plans.

Without passing judgment on his involvement in JZX and JZX’s deaths, as well as him killing NMJ and JGS for now (the latter being the one thing that I’m personally most horrified of), I don’t see JGY as a villain who enjoys being the villain the way XY does. I think he’s constantly horrified at himself and compartmentalizes to a degree where he’s actually derailing his own plans. Him throwing out XY immediately after killing JGS reads to me as him wanting to close the chapter of everything they did under JGS -- I think he must have acted out of a visceral emotion there or else he wouldn’t have left XY to die at the side of a road so carelessly (and, in effect, allowed for someone to live on with detailed knowledge of his own deeds). After rising to power (and finally, seemingly, really getting the security he’s always wanted), he doesn’t use that power to become WRH 3.0, but instead to do genuinely good things (such as building the watch towers). That’s not supposed to mean that him not being a cruel despot makes up for everything he’s done, but I find it interesting to think about from the perspective of, what kind of person could he have been if this opportunity had been given to him freely -- if his own class and social standing didn’t prevent him from that? I think he’d have become an incredibly powerful cultivator and clan leader if he’d have the same privilege as JZX.

In a way, I see JZX, WC, and JGY as narrative foils. WC shows us who JZX might have become if JGS treated him the same way as WRH treats WC. But, JGS doesn’t -- he shields his own son from this part of the Jin clan, and basically allows him to live in a completely different reality as JGY! JZX’s whole character arc is one of personality development, and becoming a hero, and falling in love -- he doesn’t have a clue about his father wanting to get his hands on XY and the Stygian tiger amulet and arguably about at least part of the war crimes he commits against the Wen clan. It’s not part of his life. In a way, JGY is the sacrifice being made to allow him to live his life unaware because in him, JGS found someone else to do his dirty work.

2) I like him because there’s no easy solution to his conflicts

Sometimes, when you want to be a villain apologist, all you need to do is point at one or a few bits of the story and say, “well if they hadn’t done that...”. (See, for example, Anakin Skywalker -- you wanna write a RotS canon divergence fixit? Just have Obi-Wan come back approximately one hour earlier and you have it, because before Anakin kills the Jedi even the Younglings he’s basically completely redeemable.) With JGY, you don’t get to have that. There’s no single turning point where you could say, “if he had picked the other option, he could have had a happy ending”. And part of the reason for that, which makes him a tragic character in my eyes, is that he crucially lacks options at many turning points.

In order to write a canon divergence AU for JGY where he comes out unscathed and redeemable, you’d have to go pretty far back in the story, and even then, you’d have to work hard to find a solution to his story that doesn’t a) rely on someone saving him (such as: LXC brings him to Cloud Recesses, or: JGS has a change of heart, frees his mother, and sends them a comfortable monthly pension), b) having him be dependent on someone else’s goodwill (such as: staying in the Unclean Realm in a delicate position).

If we don’t want to go back right to the very beginning or change fundamental parts of the story, well... As I’ve mused about above, if we let him stay in the Unclean Realm, he’d have never reached his goal of security either. If he never became a spy during the Sunshot Campaign, he wouldn’t have been accepted into the Jin clan and would have been out of options. If he never committed the atrocities for JGS, JGS would probably have kicked him out or killed him. (I do think there’s a lot of truth in what JGY tells NMJ in the empathy flashback, on that instance.) If he didn’t kill NMJ, there is a distinct possibility that NMJ would have killed him -- we see him try three times on screen, after all. (I’m leaving out the parts about him being directly responsible for JZX’s and JZX’s death in the show, as well as for controlling the corpses at Nighless City and JYL’s death, because it’s not in the book and I think it takes away from WWX’s character. As for QS’s and their son’s deaths...I personally do not see strong motivation for him to kill them, but in the end, we just don’t know which is, on a side note, a thing I really like about The Untamed/MDZS! Sometimes we just don’t know because the only people who know for sure can’t tell us anymore.) One option could be for him to confide to JZX, bring him over to his own side, and non-violently overthrow JGS, which would be a good and satisfying ending both to his and JZX’s character arcs -- but I also think there’s a high possibility JZX would hold JGY responsible for what he and JGS did, and never trust him with power again.

(Again, one thing I really do not wish to excuse away is how he killed JGS, and I just. Desperately wished he didn’t.)

I’ve been going over and over the possibilites for fix-its and canon divergence AUs, but in the end, I’ve arrived at the conclusion that the only real choice JGY has throughout the story is whether to remove himself from the narrative or stay in it. He could make the choice to give up his mother’s dream, reject his father, and leave cultivation world (and, on a meta level, the story!) to become a “nobody”. (Small side note, though -- living on which skills?) If he doesn’t -- well, as soon as he enters the game, the cards are stacked against him.

To pick up on the meta level comment, I do find it fascinating that in a sense, JGY not only has to struggle for respect and recognition within the story, but that what he does also serves to keep his character part of the story. He could choose to give up and leave (and thus come out of the story redeemable), but then he wouldn’t be part of the story anymore.

3) I like him because he interacts with the story in a unique way

Continuing with the last point, JGY interacts with the story in two unique ways that distinguish him basically from all the other characters. He’s not actually supposed to be part of the story, but that he basically claws his way in. But that also means that his class and social status cannot be removed from any of the conflicts he encounters in universe -- they’re at the heart of all of them. In the empathy flashback, he says to NMJ, “You always scold me for indecent scheming. You always say that you are just and straight [...] A decent man shouldn’t resort to devious stratagems. [...] You’re of noble birth and have profound cultivation. What about me? How can I be the same? First, I don’t have the foundation of cultivation. No one has ever taught me that since I was a child! Second, I don’t have any background. Do you think that my position is very solid in the Jin clan of Lanling?” What I find so intriguing about this scene is that he’s right when he says he’s different from the others both in text and on a meta level because most of the other characters are never faced with the same decisions and have a natural place within the story (apart, to some degree, WWX and XY, where also interesting parallels can be drawn). And the other characters are, in a way, self-righteous to judge him when almost none of them come out of the story without blood on their hands -- WWX’s revenge, JC torturing demonic cultivators after WWX’s death, and so on...The entire cultivation world (even NMJ! even LXC!) were complicit in the war crimes against the Wen. But when the cultivation world turns against JGY, they are the most appalled by the things I as a viewer would be the most lenient towards (murdering JGS), and don’t care at all about the thing that horrifies me the most (murdering the sex workers).

There’s an interesting post by @pumpkinpaix​ analysing how class dynamics work in the story, which I highly recommend! I don’t want to repeat what has been said there already in much better ways than I can, but among other things, it makes some really interesting points about how much JGY’s class is tied with his motivations.

4) I like him because when we see him on top of his game, it’s fun to watch

Aside from any analysis, part of the reason why I like him so much is that when he’s acting as a villain, he’s just so much fun to watch. When WWX breaks into his vault in paperman form and JGY has approximately 5 minutes to get rid of the head, the torture bench (?) and anything suspicious, contact and inform Su She, run to a different building and come back, and nonetheless he manages to convince everyone but WWX and LWJ that he’s the victim in this situation, it’s just. Peak entertainment? For a short time, he’s on top of the game, and then he’s backed into a corner and becomes sloppy, and finally loses it all due to sentimentality (if he didn’t want to take his mother’s body with him and say goodbye to LXC, I’m sure he could have fled the country). I think Zhu Zanjin did an amazing job as an actor to portray how JGY is constantly assessing everything, how 23638 emotions flicker over his face in half a second, how his whole body language shows the constant anxiety and pressure and stress and fear he’s under, and how we actually get to see in his microexpressions when JGY chooses a path and commits to the acting and emotional manipulation to follow it through.

5) I like him because LXC likes him 

Here’s a secret: Actually, LXC is my favourite character. And LXC loves JGY a lot. So I’m kind of contractually obliged to at least love JGY a little bit as well?

On a more serious note, I’m very intrigued in their relationship because I do think what they had was genuine. I view it as two people being very open and honest and true with each other, while placing a lot of things outside the brackets and crossing them out. LXC even says that he was aware of some things JGY did (which ones? how? I need to know) but that he justified them to himself. I think they both realised that they could have had something very special, but under the given circumstances, LXC wouldn’t have been able to help JGY (see: point 2) even if he knew everything. Still, they were obviously very close and trusted each other as much as they could. I think in the end, when LXC seemed to have decided to stay and die with him, JGY pushed him away because he was the only genuinely good part of his life, and he felt like he couldn’t rightfully deprive the world of LXC. It’s all very tragic, and I’m very intrigued to explore what they could have been in a slightly softer world.

6) JGY is very small and has dimples

I can only speak for myself, but when I was watching, I was so prone at any point to believe in him no matter what was revealed. Look at him! Could this man do something wrong?

(pasted from prev answer) not so much a specific theory but i disagree with the general idea that anything of consequence went on with the captain and havers. i think it was meant to come across as just a snippet of the captain’s poor sad gay life and, as several brain geniuses have pointed out, due to the timing of germany invading france + the captain’s medals the flashback must have been from a good few years BEFORE he died. and i think the flashback was the last time they ever saw each other, so i don’t think that a) havers has any link to the captain’s eventual death or 2) anything romantic ever happened between them

history3 ep 17 summary - we’ve been kind of robbed, but this was a good ep

okay first things first, this episode was fucking INTENSE like usually i’m laughing out loud and everything but today i was more or less silent even during the romantic scenes between jack and zhao zi - those were cute don’t get me wrong but there’s the underlying shady thing that jack is doing - in any case, you guys will both love and hate today’s episode, and if you wanna turn back now and wait for subs etc. to come out, this is the point to do it, otherwise: SUMMARY TIME BELOW!!

CWH + TY/SF confrontation aftermath

we start off first with the scene in the preview, where TY is facing SF while SF explains that LZ is his mother, and CWH, who’s standing a little bit further away with his back faced to them 

also: thank you line tv, for making hong ye totally disappear without you know, letting us know what happened to TY’S PRECIOUS SISTER WHO GOT KIDNAPPED YOU KNOW?! she literally just disappeared - what happened? where’s dao yi? did CWH get his lackeys to send her home by curfew? you know?!!!!

back to the scene - TY is catatonic and just staring angrily into the distance, and CWH is all: “you must be wrong, you must be lying to me, LZ wouldn’t have lied to me”

flashback to the prison visit by LZ and TGD - TGD turns up to visit CWH and CWH looks to be badly beaten up, and TGD obviously looks very guilty but trying to be smiley, he tells CWH that he cooked some of CWH’s fave dishes and brought it for him today and CWH is obviously pretty mad as he accuses TGD of getting the other prisoners inside the prison to beat him up - TGD tells him to calm down but doesn’t have a chance to explain himself, and one can probably understand CWH because i think he wasn’t expecting to be in prison for so long, and he asks TGD when he’s going to get him out, but TGD says that the other gang, Si He Hui, has a hit on him and it’s safer for him to be in prison, and CWH gets mad and yells: “you’re the damn boss of xing tian meng, don’t fucking tell me you have no way to get me out!” basically

that’s when TGD reveals that he brought LZ with him, and rmb that CWH when he decided to take the rap for TGD and go to jail in his stead, he told TGD to take care of LZ and not let him know where he is? WELL THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN OBVIOUSLY - CWH begs for forgiveness from LZ, saying that he didn’t mean to lie to her etc.... and LZ asks: “how could you lie to me?”

and then she says: “i’m pregnant”, and CWH is so happy, and then he looks to TGD who looks back at him with a smile and approving nod - and like 10 seconds later, LZ says: “i went for an abortion, you and i are from different worlds we can’t be together, it’s over”

then CWH goes ballistic and even TGD looks a bit confused and stunned, and LZ walks off and outside the prison she sobs and cries, while TGD is looking at CWH yelling and being dragged off

comment - srsly?!!! so many loopholes that are with this scene srsly

back to the present: TY thinks that SF is lying to him and that even if it was true this changes nothing - he still killed TGD, and he knows this because CWH was actually the one to shoot TY and he remembers it

TY back on that day, he heard two gunshots while he was waiting for TGD, and when he ran up the stairs, he saw TGD and LZ dead already on the ground and TGD holding a gun, and when he yelled for TGD, CWH shot him

CWH says he really wanted to kill them, but before he could do anything, he heard the gunshot, and the first thing he did was call out for LZ and run over to them both and they were alr dead

TY doesn’t believe him and now pulls a gun on CWH, and SF is so desperately holding onto him and trying to stop him - he reasons that if CWH really was the killer, then why would he be standing here like this? SF: “finding the real killer is more important than you venting your anger like this, right?”

so TY runs off, and SF calls TY a gazillion times but TY doesn’t stop and heads straight for the car - SF catches up to him outside of the car but TY pushes him back and shouts: “why are you doing this to me?!”

heart. break.

he gets into the car and drives off, locking SF out of the car (and this is really inappropriate but i wondered - this remote abandoned place does grab or uber or lyft even reach this area for SF to go home you know)

SF+TY - In the house scene where we hoped we’d get bed scene but...

and SF obviously managed to get a ride somehow because he turns up at TY’s house, yelling for him from downstairs and he finds him curled up in the bathtub

they struggle because TY is obviously mad at SF for doing this and he wants to be alone and the truth is hard to bear and he’s trying to get out of SF’s grasp but SF is holding really damn tight and refuses to let him go, he back hugs him and tells him: “shhh... it’s okay, i know how you feel, i really do” and he tries to calm him down, which TY does for a moment, but he struggles again, and SF kisses him to calm him down, and then TY gets on with the program and starts kissing back desperately, and SF is telling him not to do this to himself as TY kisses his way down SF’s body - and then he kisses SF on the lips again, and then he just... stops

and TY goes back to crying on the floor, falling to his knees against the bed as SF holds him

HEART. BREAK. FUCKING HEART BREAK.

Jack + Interpol Chief

jack passes interpol chief a thumb drive containing xing tian meng’s information and details and says that since this mission is done, they should move on to the next one, i.e. dismantling CWH’s drug network

interpol chief says that CWH’s network in cambodia is difficult to dismantle and at this point i think interpol chief is shady as hell and jack seems to be talking in rounds to him, i really don’t believe jack betrayed XTM and TY

and then jack says that now they can, because CWH just invited him into his group and he’ll take the job, and interpol chief and jack shake hands on it

so we get confirmation: jack is NOT a police officer, he’s a mercenary for hire and interpol paid him handsomely for this ‘job’ with XTM and TY in a sense

Zhao Zi + Jack

zhao zi goes home and sees jack’s motorcycle at his door but no jack in sign, and he looks so confused, and then jack was actually crouching behind the gate and pops up and says hi

ZHAO ZI’S face LIGHTS THE FUCK UP and he goes up to jack with his umbrella and im gonna gif this in detail don’t worry, so i won’t say too much here, but anyway he lets jack into the house and jack cooks for zhao zi

and yes, that preview scene happens here, and zhao zi doesn’t really give him an answer until when they’re inside

so yes, this happens - i have to say i totally called this, because it really does fit his character, that he would be overridden with guilt and that’ll make him turn himself in 

the scene with his daughter and the daughter’s fiance was really sweet i think, and it really reflected the dilemma and conflict captain shi has with this entire thing, and @ctl-yuejie mentions this to me as well and i agree, and that is that i wish he would’ve thought about SF as well? because SF... i feel like he treats chief as his dad almost and chief dotes on him a lot

so yes, he also emo walks to the police station and oh god okay i really gotta say, i almost cried - chief you’re damn good

and the next day, jun wei runs into the office calling for zhao zi, and says: “shit’s happened, chief turned himself in!!!”

everyone: “WTF?!” except ah zhi, who literally packs up and leaves

Domestic TY and SF

SF comes downstairs in the morning and handsome TY has cooked breakfast for him, and SF looks cautious and apprehensive, but TY has obviously decided not to think about ytd’s whatever, and just insists on SF eating breakfast with him

totally NOT a healthy coping mechanism but what can they do? anw SF sits down to eat, and then he’s trying to convince TY to not go for revenge on his own and to pass the person to the police, and TY, cryptic, says: “you investigate on your side. i’ll investigate on my side”

and then jack comes in and says they’ve caught He Hang, the asshole dude from the episode before, and SF is all: “tang yi, no, you can’t-”

and tang yi compromises more or less on this at least: “once i’m done with him, i’ll pass him to you, promise.”

and then SF acquiesces for a moment, that is until his phone rings and he picks it up and goes: “what are you saying? chief has been arrested for dealing drugs?!”

tang yi looks up. THE END.

and you can feel the stress and tension and the foreboding sense from this interaction and i hope this does not mean anything bad for our beloved TY and SF!!!! in any case... we’ll probably get jack x zz tomorrow IF LINE TV DOESN’T CUT IT OUT YOU KNOW?!!!! and yeah SF gets shot tmr - we see shots of him in that baseball jacket in three scenes currently: a scene with zhao zi where he’s investigating something, another scene where SF’s in a restaurant/cafe and finally the shooting scene

very likely ah zhi is discovered as the culprit tomorrow - although my theory is that interpol chief is in on it as well!!! it’d make sense because now if u think about it, if CWH didn’t pay police chief off, then who did? it has to be someone higher than him in position and interpol chief has a standard bad guy vibe, and this would mean that jack is moving interpol chief into a trap as well!!!! LOVE IT

this was a frickin good episode i think. thank god it was 30 min. any shorter again i would have rioted. but all remains to be seen for tmr!!!!

this is a weird ask but here goes. i'm not a peter parker fan - he's great in the comics but mcu peter isn't really a character i enjoy. i know you're not so much of a pepper fan (which is fine, i like her but everyone can have their own opinions) but i know there are some people in this fandom who don't think that's the case - like some of the asks you've got regarding pepper. there's so much pressure to fit in with everyone's opinions and i admire that you haven't. what are your thoughts?

For me, honestly, I hate fandom policing. Hate it with a passion. People saying who/what you should and shouldn’t like, people bullying and harassing people for liking certain ships or NOT liking certain ships,,,, it’s all just such idiocy to me. Sometimes u don’t need a Woke Reason to not like a character. Sometimes u just don’t vibe w them. Something that irritates me HUGELY in fandom is how fans of ships and people will do EVERYTHING in their power to turn those who don’t like what they like into bigots or racists or sexists or whatever, simply because they don’t appreciate their faves enough and it makes them bitter lol. In reality, it’s... just.... not that fucking deep. At All. I’ve had literally dozens of anons and even previous mutuals calling me misogynistic for disliking/ being ambivalent toward pepper or vageuing me abt being ‘dissappointed in me for not seeing my own internalised misogyny’ (yes this was said by a mutual lmfao),,, and I never fucking understood why. I am going to drop an immediate disclaimer here that you are absolutely welcome to ignore any and all canon details in the Dresden Files. I’m up to date, the details just suck. 

(ETA: you know, it occurs to me that I phrased this poorly. So, take 2: I love the Dresden Files. It’s a concept I find incredibly compelling and a world I love to see people play around in. Molly! Molly is probably my favorite Dresden Files character. I love how her magic works so differently to Harry’s, and how that forces her to approach problems differently. I’d love to see some of Molly’s earliest attempts at magic, or slice-of-life during the time she’s Harry’s apprentice, or your take on how her life as Winter Lady works (canon short stories? Butters! I love Butters’ outside view on magic. I’d love to see some of Butters’ experimentation with magic both before and after he acquires Bob, or to get a glimpse into the functioning of the Paranet when wizards aren’t around. Also, if you’d like to take on the ending of Skin Game, go for it.

Maggie interacting with the magical world! I’d especially love to see Maggie as a wizard, or Maggie not being a wizard and having emotions about that.

Imperial Radch Series - Ann Leckie

Does Anaander Mianaai count as an evil vizier? Also, because no one in this series is strictly a woman, I’m going to assume everyone counts :D

Anaander Mianaai! There’s something really interesting about such a large percentage of a corrupt system being a single corrupt person. If you’re interested in biotech worldbuilding, I’d love to get a look at the infrastructure that allows her to function, and how it is similar and different from ancillary tech. I’d also love to see Anaander Mianaai slice-of-life, whatever that means for her.

Justice of Toren! Breq obviously gets a lot of love, but I’d love to see some pre-canon JoT or One Esk. Show me previous annexations, or how JoT as a whole feels about One Esk, or some favorite officers through the years. 

Sirix Odela! Sirix is really fascinating to me because she’s an example of the Radchaai system working. She was trouble, she was reeducated, now she’s not trouble. And, critically, the process from her end sucked. I’d love to see a look at the reeducation system, or a glimpse of Sirix before she was reeducated.

Vorkosigan Saga - Lois McMaster Bujold

Alys Vorpatril! I love Alys, and I love seeing glimpses of her in her element and as one of the most powerful people on Barrayar. I’d love to see more of the women’s culture of Vorbarr Sultana and the way they interact with male politics, or Alys’s relationship with Illyan, or Alys and Cordelia’s interactions and the way they work together.

Taura! We see so little of Taura as just a normal part of the Dendarii. I’d love to see her interacting with her squad, or the process of her adjusting to the Dendarii and the Dendarii adjusting to her, or her continued explorations of identity and femininity.

Lily Durona and the clone squad! The Durona Group is such an unusual structure for a family, and they a lot of very interesting work. I’d love to see more of their day-to-day life, either on Jackson’s Whole or Escobar. Now that they’re not owned by a Jacksonian House, have any of the clones decided to go off and make their own way in the world? What interesting projects are the Duronas working on now?

The Strange Case of Starship Iris (Podcast)

Violet! I love how perceptive Violet is, and how quickly she updates her beliefs based on evidence. I’d love to see her relationship with the Rumor crew, or Arkady specifically, or her time as a paramedic, or any of the events of the podcast from inside her head.

The real other Violet Liu! Obviously, other Violet has a lot of stuff going on. Tell me about her work. How did she get involved with anti-regime work? What’s her relationship with Thazia? Or, write me the recruitment pitch that she sent the crew of the Rumor.

Sana Tripathi! I love how much Captain Tripathi cares about her crew, and how willing she is to show it. I’d love to see her backstory, particularly what she was doing before Cresswin’s Landing, or more of her relationship with Arkady. I’d also love to see how the Rumor crew came together or any of the previous jobs they’ve done.
