Fix-it fic

CN: Minor spoilers for a few BL series, including one from last year

Someday I will do the math on how much of my fic is fix-it fic, specifically divided by fandom/series/genre. Like...I'm pretty sure my BL fic is like 30% fix-it by volume, because a lot of BL series are, um, not great on things like consent and such.

And even the ones that are generally good on consent seem to think that if someone has been assaulted they must, by golly, just move on with no emotional repercussions. Because they're manly men, I guess?

For example, HIStory3: Trapped. Love that show and it's practically perfect in every way...except for the way everyone just ignores Tang Yi having been sexually assaulted. Have I written a fix-it for this? Yuuuup.

I just posted one for Love in the Air, because one of the two main relationships starts in a super non-consensual way and nobody ever says anything, FFS.

I feel like I also wrote some fix-its for various toku series, although probably not as many. I think there's a Zenkaiger one? Oooh, I'm pretty sure I wrote at least two for Boukenger. And one for Build? Maybe one for Wizard, depending on your definition of fix-it fic.

Now I'm going to wander off and try to figure out how I define fix-it fic before I do any counting :D

Forever eighteen.

I just finished HIStory3: Make our days count. And I'm absolutely broken, to say that I cried an ocean is an euphemism, i'm still crying while typing this. What broke my heart the most is that I felt like Xi gu didn't have the life that he deserved, his life had so much suffering and he struggle so much to go trough it. All he wanted to do was go to college, live with Hao Ting and make his parents proud, but he never got to college. His life stopped at the age of eighteen, he didn't get to fufill his dreams, he never went to Himalaia with Hao Ting, they never got married. He did make his days with Hao ting count, but what about the thousand of other days he lost? The graduation day, the wedding's day, the day they created a family together. Those days are gone, those are the days that he will never have. His time stopped at the age of eighteen. But what comforts me is that he has Hao Ting with him at the age of eighteen, he is living forever in that time when they were together. He is not alone.

HIStories were supposed to be a safe place. They were supposed to be the one place where we'll get a happy ending for sure.

And now this?

Why?

Has there not been enough death in all the LGBTQ+ films? Has there not been enough sad endings in all the LGBTQ+ series?

Why would they take away our one safe haven?

For storytelling purposes? To show that sometimes life doesn't go like we want it to?

Fuck that.

Just... fuck that.

I don't get it. I really don't.

This show has broken me

I haven’t stopped crying after watching the final episode of MODC. I thought they’d have a happy ending but this was just pure heartbreak. Did they kill of Xi Gu to give Hao Ting direction and purpose? To make him take school and life seriously? If so, I feel there are countless other ways they could have done that without breaking my heart. They could have had their happy ending just like Bo Xiang and Zhi Gang.

The most upsetting thing was that freaking doppelgänger. The phuck was that about. It made no phucking sense. Also, who the heck is Phoebe? This whole episode has me upset and was outta pocket. I demand a redo of this episode.

Possibly an unpopular opinion but I’m really glad that Hao Ting pulled Xi Gu out of the club.

I really don’t like the way handsome car guy was tucking in Xi Gu’s shirt - no matter how innocent it was he’s an underage person who is also working for him, he shouldn’t be that close.
