My Thoughts on Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Trailer

ITS HERE. AFTER NUMEROUS RUMOURED RELEASE DATES, THE TRAILER IS FINALLY HERE. GUYS I DREAMT THIS TRAILER LIKE 4 TIMES THESE PAST 6 MONTHS I WAS GOING INSANE. SPOILERS FOR THE TRAILER BELOW!!

THE DETAIL?! I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I JUST KNOW THE SHADOW ESCAPE SCENE IS GOING TO BE FIRE.

Ok so I love how compared to Sonic's soft-looking quills which looks more like fur, Shadow's quills look more spiky and rough. It's so clear that they are parallels that even their designs beautifully contrast.

"Shadow's story began a lot like yours Sonic. But where you found family and friends, Shadow found only pain and loss"

This gives me hope that they will actually adapt Project Shadow in its truest form. Especially seeing the G.U.N agents point their guns at Shadow and Gerald Robotnik who appear to be grieving. While I don't expect them to show Maria's death, I hope they at least imply it. (I feel bad for the actress but a lot of fans will cheer for her character's death because it shows that the writers care about following the source material lol)

Okay so one thing that is different is that instead of Sonic being framed and hunted by the government, he is instead asked for assistance to track down Shadow. Makes sense for their universe given the first two movies. However, I do hope Team Heroes end up betraying the authorities and let Shadow escape.

Shadow is definitely the star of the show here. The detail on his quills, his voice, and his behaviour is all so good. I'm sure they'll give Shadow's character justice. I'm assuming Project Shadow will be the prologue in the movie before the title card drops but thats just me predicting stuff!

A SHOW IDEA THAT I WANT TO MAKE REAL ONE DAY (really long post)

this is gonna be a HUGE little rant thing because i love talking about my ideas, future ideas, concepts. etc etc

i just realized i never said anything about this but uhh, for months ive been dreaming on wanting to make this string (I've always had in mind) come true

at first it was going to be a joke play with the huge inspiration of gumball. hes based on this joke episode i made called "Lil H". a baku inspired series (by sethical)

at the first point, he was literally gonna be called Lil h, LITERALLY. but I thought of a different name for him, and i named him "douglas dinget". it was a stupid name. the first image is the first concept idea i had for him if i actually wanted to take his design seriously . (its uhm... pretty old!). second image is the actual concept drawing when i thought of him having his own show (not a serious design take obviously LOL)

for 2nd image, he's just sonic but with a square cap hat, long gloves, basically a frickin recolor/edit LOL. it was funny when I imagined how he would look if I animated him and the background is just a realistic school. and then i thought of making his name "douglas tucker". i think him having that name is pretty cool and funny

his inspiration is a mixture of a chibi figure (like gumball) and his animations would be peanuts esque. like the way how he would walk, run, slip, etc etc. BASICALLY how peanuts characters are animated. i really loved imagining that as a test animation for this design, never really did it tho. im still learning animation

now this is where i suddenly had a new idea. i imagined "what if douglas had a girlfriend and she was a cactus? because cactuses and hedgehogs are spiky.." and this is where the design comes in

her name is KATHERINE STERLING!!!!! OMLLLL!!! (also a HALF redesign on Douglas)

this was the third character i thought of tho. second character is a "My melody" rip off LOL. (which she WILL be redesigned soon)

(unless if a team is formed for this show and someone knows how to put a 8 bit pixel character in a high resolution show, just like ocho)

okay now i want to show you the months that went by with DT's design, i just cant type any longer to show this i geniunely wanted to say all of that just so you can get on the path before i, PROBABLY, make this show a real thing

PERSONALITIES!!!

DOUGLAS: Douglas is normal about almost everything. it would be VERY rare to see douglas scared. he is extremely calm about stuff. he is tough. he doesnt take his rage out on anyone. even if some people would try to start a fight with him. he's a strong teen and he KNOWS he would knock someone out with one punch. its rare for him to get angry because he knows how strong he is. Lets just say hes kind of the opposite of gumball. Gumball can sometimes get scared when someone is raging at him (mostly people he knows who are STRONGER than him.) hes basically a wimp LOL. douglas is the opposite of that basically. douglas just does his own without meeting any new kid unless if they want to meet him (its best for him to wait if someone wants to be friends with him first)

KATHERINE: Katherine Is a very nice and polite person. but she can overreact sometimes and get mad at douglas if he says or does something that she doesnt like at all, especially if douglas makes a joke compliment to her. she basically hits douglas multiple times on the head. usually when she does that to her friends it hurts them but douglas barely feels anything when she does it to him LMAO

HADIZA: She trys to act tough like douglas despite the fact that douglas doesnt even try to act tough at all. she basically has the personality of gumball a little bit. she trys to stand up and be a more "scarier" person, trying to scare the big character. but when the big character makes a furious noise back at her, she would bunny hop away from them fast

CLAIRE: Claire is a pixelated happy girl living life in the world. nobody could ever ruin her mood except for one person. she mostly likes to keep the mood flowing and loves to interact with some people. she is pretty hyperactive at times too. she likes viewing the world as cupcakes and rainbows full of lollipops.

JACKSON: Jackson Is, to put it in short, a bit of a asshole. LMAO. basically jackson is always tired and can sometimes have aggresive tones. its very common for him. douglas has gotten use to his aggressiveness because theyve being friends ever since they were in kindergarten. Jackson has been getting tired of the world throughout the years.but luckily douglas and jackson are always staying communicated everyday. they never missed a single day not communicating. they are basically BEST best friends.

THE CLASSMATES & TEACHER (W.I.P.)

the level design of the Sonic Overture '95 demo

been wantin 2 show da level design idid 4 sonic overture .. startin with granite act 2. altho some tiny tiny bits were referenced from sly's level design concepts , and lake did his own edits and added decorations , idid everything else

this level is oneof the largest levels ive ever made , andit was really fun makin it and playtesting it .. i like making HugeAss levels , but with this one i tried 2 make sure to make it have both engaging ,difficult platforming and high speed sections. i wanted 2 make it Feel like marble zone without bein as tedious , and i like how it came out (even if i didnt intend on makin it as huge as it was ... in fact it was actually goin to be Even Larger ,but cus of clickteam limitations and also the level being nearly 5 minutes long , it had 2 be cut down , LOL ! its probably 4 the best tho , cus the level already has tons of very intricate stuff goin on (especialy with the stuff it does with the marble and the pillars)

next is granite act 1 , which is mostly based off sly's level design concepts , but is heavily changed and expanded both to flow more how iwanted it to and to make it more complex .. i had a lot of fun with da later half of da level , makin all sorts of silly challengez...

something i did for fun was hide a bunch of hidden Silly Areas.. these are at the Very , Very top of the level , and require you to be very precise to even Access them , so they dont get in the way of the rest of the level ... but i did it cus i Love making silly dumb kaizo stuff

lake added decorations to granite act 1 as well ,but he also added his own silly secret areas at the very very top of the level that are difficult to get to , which i really like LOL !!! i think more video games need silly parts of the level skilled players can discover

last thing 2 talk about is sunrise gate zone , which is just based off the original demo. act 1 combines the 2014 demo's act 1 and act 2 , only addin a few tiny extra routes and little changes to make it flow a little more

act 2 has a bit more done to it , with it being based off act 3 from the original demo , but has a few new routes at the very top of the level , including ones that make heavy use of the totem pole mechanic. somethin we decided to do is to make the blocks on the walls into top-solid platforms , so i specifcally designed the level so that , if youre clever , you can use the blocks on the walls to get upto places or find secrets...

Behold the Fallen King, reduced to a measly Jester. He lost his monarchy, his authority, his dignity, but gained joy and freedom, now running as free as the wind despite the shackles of entertainment. He's seen as nothing but a mere show – a performance – for people to feast their eyes on the magnificent spectacle before them. King Arthur is long gone, only the nameless Jester is known.

tldr Arthur got dethroned and forcefully became a jester instead lol (in this context arthur and sonic are two diff people, js with the same appearance. yk js like how shadow and lance are diff but look the same)

how does this tie to my kinsona? why did i choose this lore? simple rlly: burnt out gifted kid. that's all im gna say. i fell down SO FAR it's not even funny.

i relate to sonic himself in many ways but one thing i struggle to relate to him is our experiences. while king arthur in canon satbk is well 'dead' (or nonexistent per se), what if sonic's alt exists in satbk (like shadow and lance). that's where im coming from. still was king of camelot, js dethroned. someone else took over idk who but that's not impt for now.

lance still stays with him (COUGH self indulgent COUGH) bc he's too loyal to actl leave arthur's side despite him serving the new king. him and the knights of the round table are the only people who know about this new jester's true identity bc arthur didn't want to be known, not out of shame due to his dethronement but he simply wanted a fresh start. he doesn't want to be weighed by his past responsibilities anymore. he doesn't want to be seen as king. while power is great, it isn't for him. that's why he tries to make himself as unrecognizable as possible while keeping some hints of his charm. why? so people see him and go "why does he look so familiar but i can't put my finger on it" (he loves to confuse people)

Arthur is, you guessed it, trans 🔥🔥🔥 ftm as most hcs say. how does this work in the medieval realm? born female, forced to become male initially bc he's the only child and his parents desperately needed a heir for the throne. if the kingdom found out their new leader was a fucking girl they'll go on a riot for sure so. in a sense, arthur has been male his whole life. while initially he despised this whole ordeal, he's grown to feel comfortable with himself. he's denied it for so long but eventually embraces it. it's a bit of an identity crisis bc his external persona is male, but when no one is looking his parents treat him like a female. it messes him up a lot and eventually says fuck it "nah ima do my own thing"

^ js a disclaimer this is from my knowledge of society in medieval times. im not very sure how heirs work. ive heard that princesses CAN be queens w/o a suiter but again, im uncertain.

abt the dethronement thing? don't ask me abt that. why was he kept in camelot and turned into a jester? the new king wanted to make a fool out of him so. there ya go. Arthur simply goes by 'Jest' now. (i suck at names, as u can tell)

if it isn't obvious enough, my main inspo would be based on Jester Sonic himself. he's my absolute fav design so far it's wonderful. obv i would make some tweaks

(Spoiler Anon) I’m Just Happy Again That Sonic Finally Has a Family, and He’s Not Alone

I just love the direction the movie took of really showing what makes these characters family.

Really early on in the movie we have that lecture with Tom and Sonic, where Tom is being such a dad and just looking out for him, and then we have the small moment of Sonic setting up a fake security system like they’re at an airport, that has such son energy. They text throughout the movie updates about this day (even if sonic is lying lol) but you get the sense just how much they love each other.

And towards the end when Maddie literally says “Let’s go get our kid.” IT MELTS MY HEART. And they all held hands and said I love you. Sonic actually calling Tom ‘Dad’ I just-THIS MOVIE DUDE.

And then talking about Sonic and Tails, their brotherhood is one of my favorite aspects of the series. being able to see them bond, to hear Tails tell Sonic just how much he admires him and how it’s because of Sonic he’s able to embrace his two tails, to have them HUG, to have Sonic literally tuck Tails into bed (HE EVEN PETS HIS TWO TAILS BEFORE COVERING THE BLANKET WITH IT) and then Tails’ tails popped out to cover Sonic. That whole scene means everything to me.

I’ve always loved how Sonic and Tails’ dynamic started by Tails seeing Sonic being himself and admiring how cool and confident he is to the point Tails wants to be able to keep up with him and through that Sonic just casually takes Tails under his wing. So being able to see the start of this dynamic, I loved it so much.

And it’s because Tails got hurt that Sonic fled on his own to deal with Eggman and Knuckles. That little speech he gives Tom and Maddie about how Tails looked up to him and all he did was get him hurt so now he has to fix this and make sure no one else gets hurt? AMAZING.

The whole baseball scene of all of them playing together as a family and trying to teach Knuckles to understand Earth customs was not something I expected but I absolutely loved it and I would love to just see more Wachowski family fun.

A lot of this stuff are things within the series, the idea of friends becoming, found family and friends/family being power, but because of several different reasons (mandates, SEGA being SEGA, bad writers) we haven’t been able to really see this heart of the series in years. The characters haven’t really been themselves since like 2009, so to see the movie take this characters and do such drastic things (its not rlly drastic but i say that cuz lol I don’t think SEGA would ever let Sonic be this emotionally open in the games or even call someone his parents or even say I love you out loud) it’s such fun and refreshing take and a huge reminder of what made me love these characters.

pre-war prowl is such an interesting character. actually prowl in general is such an interesting character...I kinda wrote him off during my first read of mtmte (and even a little during my second readthru) as just this dude who’s an asshole (espec bc my prev tf experience involved watching tfa as a kid, and this prowl is very different from tfa prowl lol)...but prowl is SUCH a multi-faceted and interesting character, even in the relatively little we see of him in mtmte 

plus it was interesting to learn later that prowl was one of the characters that jro wanted for mtmte and didn't get, and MAN i wish he got prowl bc I would've loved to see what jro would've done w/prowl on the lost light, that would've been amazing. like, just imagine the arc he would have...I have no idea what that arc would BE, but I know it would be awesome. plus I’d be really interested to see how prowl would factor in, relationships-wise, amongst the crew of the lost light. so much potential!

OH MAN i cry at EVERYTHING, lemme go through the episode list and get the things i remember crying at: the end of the world, school reunion, doomsday, voyage of the damned, journey’s end, vincent and the doctor, the doctor the widow and the wardrobe (every. damn. time.), the angels take manhattan, the time of the doctor, death in heaven, face the raven, hell bent, the husbands of river song, and the doctor falls. i know i’ve prolly cried at more and just don’t remember.

ten because of (YES I KNOW THIS IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF HIS ARC DON’T @ ME I’M STILL ANNOYED) the way he so easily believes he knows better than everyone else and doesn’t hesitate to manipulate time if that’s what he thinks is best (ruining harriet jones’s career and reputation over her legitimate concern for the safety of britain, thus robbing britain of its planned golden age and allowing the master to take over the world, torture the entire population, emotionally scar the jones family [I’M STILL SALTY]; saving adelaide brooks and ruining her legacy)

i literally don’t know like i guess it would be funny if each regeneration complained about it a bit or maybe if they eventually did get to be ginger like idk mate it’s not a huge deal to me.

31. Thoughts on the sonic glasses?

so cute and cool!!! i love it so much, i think it’s a really cool thing to do because, like moffat said, it means any little kid with a pair of dark sunglasses can pretend to be the doctor, which is so much easier than actually having to go out and buy the props which can be quite expensive, so it’s just. a really rad thing to do.

lockscreen is because i told a friend who’s a Hawks fan that Crawford deserved making the ASG this year and his regular season play definitely did! I mean, I still don’t agree that Pekka is overrated as has been implied, nor do I think that they should’ve had FOUR FUCKING BLACKHAWKS in the goddamn thing. and i mean...I like Crawford, as a goalie! he’s got interesting style and has made some phenomenal saves as well as been interesting to watch but it’s damn hard to watch him when he’s always y’know, playing for the Blackhawks!

last selfie is one i posted already, i have a huge deal of self-consciousness about my face so we can go BEHIND THE MUSIC with this one and i took it in part because i wouldn’t have to worry about my face being a focal point in it as much, i worry about blemishes and stuff and like, it’s really bad that i worry so deeply about it tbh, it’s kinda like, i know i need 2 get over myself?? but whatever lol

i dont use my iPod or any music-listening device i can rlly screenshot? i have weird compulsions and fears about linking my computer to my phone because i worry i’ll accidentally link it to the wrong iCloud and somehow end up revealing the artifice of the phone-as-inner-Self to my parents so like...I don’t have games on my phone or anything

but Andromeda is so so good, @tealrallythong told me about all the background info on it and like, i was reading old Pitchfork reviews as one does when waiting on an artist, and the way that they describe the early work of Gorillaz on the singles collection (as well as the anachronism of a singles collection in 201?) they describe the manner in which Gorillaz was Albarn branching out and making music influenced by the sort of turn-of-the-Millenium genre-bouncing that every artist thought they could do, so that every artist was looking for the Y2K version of Walk This Way, while Albarn actually made it. The way in which you find so much GENUINENESS in what structured Gorillaz from the beginning is in fact part of a larger way that they have expressed a sort of change of their own realization: from “Gorillaz” to “Plastic Beach” it was less and less and less artifice, the Band was sort of falling apart so that Gorillaz could make music, it was continually Albarn and Hewlett expressing this sort of artistry and by the time of Plastic Beach, the artifice of the Imaginary Band had sort of entirely been made secondary, it was just a sort of name for the collective of music and art being made under that name. And what we’re seeing now is a sort of simulacra-album, more sonically and thematically coherent than any they’ve attempted yet, almost as if they asked the question of what a band like Gorillas would do on an album they were making this far into their career, a simulacra of an album, almost. And I missed the chance to preview it but I’m so, so excited.
