I'm so heavily anti-advertising that all pitches sound goofy silly to me/I can never take them seriously, so I have no idea how I'll manage to to advertise my game even if I do finally finish it soon-ish lol...
Tumblr media
#Especially how so much modern media advertising is like... getting people excited about random tropes and stuff like#''Do you love enemies to lovers? Do you love sad stories that make you do a heckin CRY? Do you love big stupid dumbo muffin cake#sinnamon roll babies who are too good for this world? Have you ever wanted to read a blah blach blah" whatever stuff and it's like#... i cannot type that... I couldnt do it.. I couldn't even think of how to do it ghbjhbjh#I am such a literal person... Like I love when an advertisement is just like 'This product works well. Look at it. Buy it if you want. Ok'#You know what makes me want to read a book or watch a show or play a game? Reading a detailed plot synopsis or the full wiki page#for it and then deciding 'yeah I wouldnt mind sitting through seeing the events I just read about happen in more detail' lol#OR aesthetics. since I do often watch things JUST for the set/costume design. Sometimes I will watch stuff literally#just because I saw a picture of a costume in it that looked really cool and I want to sketch costume looks whilst watching#But aside from appearance like... little bullet point break downs of things that are in a story just ... do not do anything to me at all.#And i just hate 'selling' things to begin with. I don't want to have to convince people to like something.. they should just... like it...#LOL.. like.. just be born liking it. just like it automatically please. Dont make me beg to you like a weird little freak. So many commerci#als seem weirdly desperate and manipulative. Like those Truck/Car commercials that will have like a freaking dog crying and#a war vet in a wheelchair with the american flag in the background and a family hugging around a christmas tree or some shint and its#just like oh my GODDD... shut UPP.. you could literally not be MORE blantant about just trying to prey on peoples emotions to build#some sort of fabricated positive association with your product/brand.. begone.. Or brands having their own twitters where they post#~~relatable content~~ as a means of shallow audience endearment GGGRR..... ANYWAY.. hhrgh...................#Maybe that's something I can ask playtesters I guess like.. I feel like I don't know my own audience very well because I am not#much of a media person?? ironically.. Like I do enjoy MAKING media. But I've never been in a fandom. I've never read fanfiction. I've never#spent much time in those spaces. I've just never really had the inclination and don't personally derive much joy out of stuff like that#(since I'm already so focused on my OWN world and projects its like.. hard for me to even find the time and mental energy to expend on#others). Even when I finish a movie or game and really like it.. I just kind of like...move on? and don't really dwell on it much? At most#I will get into the worldbuilding of a piece of media and read the wiki for a while or watch Lore info or critical analysis videos. But I#never really care for or attach to the characters or the plot itself very much. So I feel like.. the way my brain works. I'm just not as#good at approaching things from that angle? Kind of like how if you're a lifelong vegetarian whos never eaten meat - you might#struggle to write an ad for fancy brand of steaks bc you'd be like... idk what meat eaters are even looking for? whats the selling point??#Which I'm not saying that I wouldn't play my own game. i AM definitely the audience for it. But it's more like.. I would play it for my own#very niche specific reasons that I think are different from what MOST people might want to play it for. So I need to somehow#tap into the minds of the Majority who play things for Normal Reasons than pure lore collection or whatever lol.

once again wishing Guz was an OC and not a pre-existing character because I feel like ppl who selfship w OCs are seen as cool outside of the selfship sphere but ppl who selfship w pre-existing characters from media are seen as weird and cringe >:[ (perhaps this is just true of the specific people i have seen though and not indicative of the wider culture outside of what i've seen)

#I'm a bit late but :)#Mmmhh lots of thoughts about this episode. Nothing really relevant though lol#I like it... Mostly. Well‚ I like Atsushi‚ and I like Atsushi screentime.#I always forget that there's actually a one week timeskip within the Guild arc#I think these chapters were generally better executed in the manga.#But even then it's just...#Why do the make the Guild / Fitzgerald so. dumb. Why do they make them act so wildly irrationally and at the protagonists' advantage#It really gives villain acting entirely mindlessly to make the plot advance and the heroes win. It's really sensless.#I mean especially when Atsushi yielded. Why didn't Fitzgerald take his offer. For real!!#For real. He had NOTHING to gain from proceeding with his plan. He already obtained for Atsushi and the ada to collaborate.#Now they are NEVER going to help him‚ and that's agreat loss for him.#And idk. i hear that little Tumblr post in my voice saying “why would you complain about characters acting irrationally!#Do people irl never act irrationally?”#And yeah I get Fitzgerald was frustrated for losing Mitchell and his fight with Hawthorne. Okay I understand.#But that's definitely too much. That's him acting downright stupid at the heroes' advantage and it's just pretty underwhelming to read?#That said. It's just general notes I'm not particularly annoyed because like. That's just b/s/d to you. Dumbing down the villains a second–#so the author can escape the trap they put themselves into. Very Marvel-esque move lol.#On that exact same note WHY WOULD LUCY HAVE THE DOLL.#The doll is the whole premise for your plan working why would you not protect it with everything 😭😭😭#I'm not getting in the Lucy / Atsushi scene itself. I love Lucy but I swear every time that scene gets played a femminist dies#(it's me. I'm the femminist dying every time.)#Mmmhh a couple more things. I dislike the ost choice in the scene where Steinbeck is torturing Q it feels so out of place#And I really don't get what's the deal with the Hawthorne / Fitzgerald convo it's so confusing to me. Like it It looks like Hawtorne is–#blaming Fitzgerald for Mitchell's condition (both in health and for her family status) but...#Objectively neither of those things are Fitzgerald's fault? Idk maybe I just have very little media comprehension for this arc because–#a lot of things just seem to happen with no sense. But it's okay#Im complaining a lot lol but its mostly irrelevant things (or like with the dumbification of villains things I've learnt to live with lmao)#But the episode was generally nice. The animation this season is consistently very pretty.#random rambles

Still thinking about the anon from yesterday and the more i think about it the more mad i get like you're insane for calling kaeya mid i hope you blow up. Bitching in the tags ft arguments my smart sexy boyfriend brought up yesterday while we were talking about this so credit where credit is due
#🗨️#LIKE.#kaeya-diluc brotherly issues are interesting because kaeya is by far the most interesting character in the game sorry#like. genuinely i wanna know what they meant by the two of them having a “trope that's been handled better by other media”#because their deal is not just ougj brothers fighting#it's specifically about kaeya being adopted and about his conflict with belonging to a nation and a community and a family#and his loyalty to his duty and his birth family vs his loyalty to the city and family who took him#the only thing i could think of that has handled similar themes better is the untamed but that's literally a show based on a novel#so i feel like comparing them is a bit unfair#like ofc i know there's sibling drama out there 🙄 but that's not why kaeya brotherly issues are interesting#there's his dynamic with diluc his dynamic with crepus AND diluc's dynamic with crepus too#other than kaeya'#s whole thing with his birth father#idk. kaeya haters need to die a thousand deaths#i am Not articulate enough rn I'm still dying from back pain but you get me. you agree. if you don't you can fall over snd exlode#like there's a specific power dynamic at play in regards to the adopted child survivor of a fallen nation being rejected for that fact by#his adopted brother. on the night of their father's death. like yes i know diluc is stupid yes i know they still love each other as brother#even if their relationship is tense i know it's set up for eventual reconciliation#but just kaeya's whole deal IS about family. in general.#a bunch of characters' deals are about family in general like i could start listing them and it wouldn't end it's just like kaeyaaaaa#kaeya. is the guy of all time

I'm feeling kinda guilty... I love your blog, I'm glad I'm searching for information and I care about good representation (of any kind of minority). But, at the same time, I absolutely love The Phantom of the Opera. I'm in love with this story, I love Erik, and actually he was the character that opened my eyes about people with facial differences when I was a litte kid. And I want to make an adaptation of POTO myself. And to make it, obviously, Erik is a tragic, traumatized person with violent tendencies and that wears a mask, and because of his trauma, he hates his own body... I want to give him a happy ending, a chance to heal, and genuine sympathy for his mental state rather than a lot of versions (and even the fandom itself) does. Is there any non offensive way of depicting this? Because, although Leroux intented Erik to be a sympathetic "villain/anti-villain", the story is outdated (1910!) and a lot of Erik's "villainy" is pretty forced. Help me pleeeease😭
Hey,
so, in discussions of disfiguremisia and offensive media portrayals of facial differences, Phantom is like the gold standard when it comes to comparisons.
"How bad was it?" "Phantom-of-The-Opera-bad." "Oh OK."
It's kinda what you just mention when you want to say that something sucks, since Phantom has basically no redeemable features when it comes to depicting disabled people. It's the OG disfiguremisia in media since it's both old and really popular.
I don't really think Phantom is fixable. Don't get me wrong, there are some versions of it that I have genuinely liked, but ultimately, it's a flawed story from the concept. You can make it better, but I don't think you can make it good.
So, how to make it better;
give him an actual, specified facial difference and research how it works,
make him explicitly a human being,
get rid of that stupid ass mask,
get rid of that stupid ass scary disability reveal,
tone down on the freakshow backstory,
IDK you can maybe make him live in the Opera because he's phrogging/squatting it because he's experiencing ableism when it comes to employment and is therefore homeless if you want to keep that part since it's kinda important,
at least imply that he has known other people before who weren't comically evil towards him for being visibly disabled,
don't make him a murderer,
like, make him less evil. I don't know.
I don't see any other way of making Phantom better rather than fundamentally changing major parts of it. It's fundamentally ableist, what can you do.
You need to be aware that you're an outsider (I presume so, at least, apologies if I'm wrong) trying to fix a story that is based on being disfiguremisic. Would you be comfortable trying to "save" a story that was biased against a different minority? Because it's not really a matter of "finally fixing POTO", it's extremely popular*. It's something you're doing for yourself, and, presumably, for people with facial differences. You need to be aware of what you're getting into and if you're actually willing to do that. If you aren't then that's fine, there's 1000 adaptations out there already.
*- that is to say, one more less ableist or more ableist retelling changes nothing in terms of the Phantom's impact, that much has been done. You can just adapt it.
Followers with facial differences are welcome to give their suggestions.

The bg3 community has a big problem with not thinking the characters are pansexual, when they clearly are, here's all the bad takes i've heard (this from queer people) on tiktok/twitter/etc "Minthara is a lesbian and HATES men" "Gale only like women, and only feminine ones" "Wyll is a gentleman, he would only date women" "Karlach clearly only has dialogue talking about men because of her heteronormative upbringing" These people are insane
Where is that post about how bitchy or mean women in media are always headcanoned as lesbians
Minthara hating men is funny to me though because ingame she openly admires and respects both Ketheric and Gortash for their leadership and/or war mindset
Gale 'i quite enjoy your musk' Dekarios suuure likes only femenine women
I'm standoffish around Wyll so I might be reaching here, but to me it sounds like calling him a Gentleman is just a nicer way of calling him boring. (Also, why couldn't a gentleman date a man??) But also Wyll openly fawns over how pretty Astarion is and about Halsin, more than once, and that's just from the top of my head
Oh wow, a big muscular lady is a lesbian? Call the news, we have something groundbreaking. (I'm still playing a Wylach romance so I do have a bias but cmon) Idk what heteronormative upbringing they're talking about though. Having a mom and a dad? In a world where homophobia doesn't exist and never has? It's so stupid, especially with Karlach whos whole thing is being open and honest about her feelings; but sure, make up straws to reach for that explain away her straight up stating that she wants to fuck a specific man
Headcanons are one thing (like personally, i see Minthara as being slightly more into women than she is into men, and opposite with Karlach) but ffs I don't get it why people need to argue about canon so much when it's literally spelled out for them
Tbh I didn't know this was such a big problem, but i guess it just means I'm happy here in my oblivious corner where people make sense

Stupid and incomprehensible (/srs) ii rant incoming. This post was fact checked by REAL American patriots ✅✅✅
The people that are shitting on ii and saying it's ruined are so fucking funny to me. No, ii16/ii17 wasn't contradictory or out of character. You literally just created your own story in your head and then got mad when it didn't come to fruition. Like dawg that was all you. You created your own problems to be mad at. Just admit your interpretations were wrong. It's not that hard.
NO BUT YOU GUYS ARE SO FUCKING MISERABLE. IT'S A KID'S SHOW. GROW UP. YEAH IT'S NOT FUCKING SHAKESPEARE BUT YOU'RE ACTING LIKE THE FINALE IS THE WORST THING THAT'S EVER GRACED THE EARTH. You guys can't enjoy ANYTHING AND IT SHOWS. "Oh my godd my sugar plum is SO out of character!! The twist came from NOWHERE" are you on the writing team? Have you been planning this for a DECADE? No?? Shut up. Your writing opinions are about as valuable as five Nickel plushies. Just please shut the fuck up. It's not even that they're objectively wrong, it's that they're so fucking annoying. Like the confidently wrong "if you think differently you have no media literacy" type of annoying. I'm in like five other different fandoms and none of them make me feel drained after interacting with them like the ii fandom. Yes I'm separating them from the osc entirely cause they're a different breed. Hell, the ONE community reacted better to their ending than how ii fans are rn. Which is saying a lot because iykyk.
HOWEVER. I am NOT saying I want the ii community to become an echo chamber where everyone believes that Inanimate Insanity is a gift sent down from the Gods because it isn't. There's definitely things wrong with it. And even if it was a gift sent from the God's we are NOT gonna have a massive circle jerk because our favorite show is so cool.
Again, however, the criticism that ii receives isn't even criticism. It's just people bitching and moaning and it's so draining reading their massive walls of text because they're so fucking CONDESCENDING. Oh yeah you're definitely superior because your take on why the past two episodes are the worst lemme just bend over and suck your dick because that's what you want right?? To blow smoke up your ass and say that you're so amazing and smart and that everyone who disagrees with you lacks media literacy?? I FUCKING HATE THE PHRASE MEDIA LITERACY AND I'VE ONLY STARTED HATING IT BECAUSE YOU GUYS GOT YOUR GREASY FINGERS ONTO IT.
Anyways that's it. I've definitely talked about this before but idc people need to stop being miserable and start frolicking in the flowers. Yes, recognize that your favorite show has flaws, but get your head out of your ass and stop having a superiority complex. And stop making shit up in your head. Write an au fanfic or something instead idk just stop whining about how the show is somehow wrong. You people were literally complaining about ii17 the same day it came out. Why do you have so much hate in your heart.
Btw it's late for me. These are just all of my unfiltered thoughts so I'm like really annoying rn and I definitely would have worded this better but idc lol. Definitely going anon for this one.

Just. Need to vent, kinda rambling sorry,
I hate how much transandrophobia discourse has made me afraid to just...have normal conversations and share perspectives with the rest of my community, for fear that it'll be interpreted as speaking over transfems (doesn't help that I'm autistic and super socially inept so I don't fully trust myself not to ACTUALLY speak over transfems by accident 😭)
Like, for example I saw a post about transfem subtext/coding in media, and I wanted to add something in the tags about how sometimes the subtext can be interpreted as both transfem and transmasc coding and it works either way, but I ended up just scrolling past because I was afraid of overstepping. And maybe in this case it actually would have been overstepping and it actually is one of those "valid point but make your own post" moments (I mean there were a couple people in the tags who felt transandrophobic because they were like, rebutting characters who are sometimes read as transmasc, but I'm not familiar enough with those characters to know if they were right or not, and that wasn't on the version of the post that I was going to reblog anyway), but this is just the most recent example of something that I've felt on several occasions at this point. And I feel like maybe it...shouldn't be like this? Like we should be able to all talk about our differing perspectives and go "oh I hadn't thought of it that way" and learn from each other and just, you know, be a fucking community
In a similar vein, I get nervous about discussing these sorts of things with my friends because my main friend group has a lot of transfems, and it's stupid because I absolutely trust these friends to not be transandrophobic, but I'm still scared for some reason :( like, I would have talked about this in the discord server with them if I didn't feel so anxious about messing things up somehow
idk. Maybe I need to step back from transandrophobia discourse for a while, I don't know if that will help though because I was noticing and being bothered by it since before I realised there was a word for it and actual discussions happening around it so discovering that the discourse was happening was kinda just a "holy shit I'm not just going insane!" moment, so idk if stepping back would even help really. Maybe I should just take the leap and be direct with my friends so that I don't have to deal with that slight lingering doubt (which is almost definitely irrational but like, I have trust issues 😔) but I can't think of a way to do that that wouldn't be rude or something. I just hate being so on-edge whenever I see discussions about transmisogyny
I just. need to say this somewhere, idk if there's any advice or reassurance anybody has I'm just too scared to vent about it without anonymity right now :( thanks for listening
( - 🐈‍⬛♠️I think this was the emoji combo I used last time I signed one of these?)
Well, I am a trans woman, and I don't see that or talking about your perspective as "talking over" me. I've had a lot of conversations irl and online with trans guys and I've always seen it as an educational/learning experience. I love hearing about the views and experiences of those not like me.
That's not talking over, that's just conversation. If you are told that this is "talking over" transfems, then that person wasn't worth your time anyways.
If they're not open to hearing you talk, and only want to talk themselves, that's a red flag and worth avoiding.

Hi! My name is Arrow! I noticed you're a fan of the Boyfriend's Webtoon (Dw, I'm not here to be hostile, I'm simply curious) Could you explain why people think it's problematic? I didn't enjoy it that much while reading it, mainly due to the grammar and the weird stereotypes, but I'm curious to what your opinion is!
hiya arrow! a lot of people are waaaay more eloquent than I am. I know its not for everyone and I don't want people to feel obligated to like something that just isn't a good fit. however, I'll do a lil overview of all the shit refrainbow's been accused of. warning, will make you want to slam your head into a wall!
Tumblr media
drawing porn of a bts member when Ray was 17 and the BTS member was also 17 (I think it was Jungkook). while Real Person NSFW art seriously icks me out on a personal level, I need to say that there are currently 61,508 EXPLICIT FICS of the BTS boys on ao3. the culture of sexualizing them is really fuckin weird and I'm not touching it with a ten foot poll, but odds are if you're a specific age, you or a person close to you has been somewhat guilty of this sin.
Tumblr media
Using the N word in a tweet over a decade ago.
there's no real defense for this except the fact that while a lot of people are making fun of him in the comments of this tweet, there is a majority of black fans commenting about how they forgive him and how they're eye-rolling at all the non-black fans who are clutching their pearls about this. also, he is not a native english speaker and would have been about 14 in the post...
Tumblr media
Drew Venti in a sexual-ish way
Venti is a 2,000 year old loli situation who honestly looks anywhere between 13 to 21 depending on the artist, and you really need to get into his lore to figure out what he is. whether or not sexualizing him is okay is a masterclass in it of itself...anyway, refrain apologized
Tumblr media
"Anti semitism"
I am jewish so this one feels particularly stupid. in simple terms, a hate group in indonesia was trying to ban pokemon go because they thought it was a part of a jewish conspiracy. in an old tweet, Refrainbow was making fun of this thought process, but his tone might've seemed a little flippant. he apologized. this was dumb.
Tumblr media
apparently as a joke in a deleted tweet nerd was said to be a pro-shipper? I cannot find the tweet and I'm currently of the opinion its just a rumor? refrainbow has never reblogged or made art of anything bizarrely "problematic" to the best of my knowledge, and the original tweet is often referred to as being a poorly received joke. idk what to tell you, I don't think its currently canon if its been deleted, or if it ever was. refrainbow's media opinions are vanilla as can be.
Tumblr media
"having an all white cast" - no they aren't
Tumblr media
"being a white woman projecting fantasies for fujos to get off on-"
THIS IS A TRANSGENDER QUEER MUSLIM ASIAN MAN FROM INDONESIA, A COUNTRY NOTORIOUS FOR BEING SHITTY TO GAY PEOPLE. LEAVE HIM THE FUCK ALONE
ahem anyway
the boyfriends webtoon is NOT problematic, it never WAS problematic, and it's probably never going to get the chance to be problematic because the internet successfully cancelled it!
if the stereotypes are a problem, tbh I'd reccommend skimming the first season and then getting into the second with fresh eyes. the characters do have a few subtle traits that go outside their basic personalities, but those get fleshed out more in the 2nd. and sometimes something isn't for everything -- doesn't mean you gotta be an ass about it tho!
whenever I see hate for this comic, I take a moment to look at the pictures of refrainbow that he sometimes posts on his twitter, and think that's a person who is being emotionally impacted by actions on the internet. that's not anonymous, that's a guy.

I made a post on Reddit titled "Hot take but I feel like many if not most Stolitz antis are either homophobic or just hypocrites" and I even had to clarify at the end that not all Stolitz antis are like that. Cue the replies harassing me, taking it as a personal attack on them and making baseless accusations about me. One of them even sarcastically said "Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong and bigoted" as a way to make fun of me. I never said anything remotely similar to that. I don't think they bothered to actually read past the title where I explained that Stolas and Blitzø meeting as children is compared to a bad fanfic when that never gets said about straight couples in media who met as children and that people who hate Stolitz for what it is now only tolerated it when it was just a running gag, as if they can't stand it when gay relationships are being taken seriously. I also mentioned that even non-homophobic Stolitz antis complain about how toxic it is and then turn around to ship Blitzker. (Blitzø x Striker)
I had a similar experience. It's so stupid because like, some of them aren't even subtle about it. Same for chaggie antis. I remember seeing a post talking about how much Charlie doesn't get enough dick, so she's unsatisfied and needs Alastor. Like... I'm sorry, what?
A lot of the arguments stolitz antis are literally inherently bigoted. Like how they want Stolas to be paired with Stella instead even though he's gay. And STILL hating him for "cheating" after The Circus even though he's a gay man being forced to marry an abusive woman? Idk, that's... a red flag 💀 The same people saying stolitz is one sided were the same ones saying that Stolas and Stella were in love not to long ago... sounds like heteronormativity...
And a lot of them are Stella defenders? Sorry that I came to the conclusion that the people doing mental gymnastics defending the cishet abuser calling the gay male abuse victim the abuser may be homophobic 😭
Like, it's not that different from female characters who get hate while the same people shitting on her praise fictional men who are worse or do the same shit. There are clear double standards here. These people turn around and praise cishet media with very similar writing, characters and tropes as Helluva Boss. And not only that, but it's not even just about their relationship specifically. Like, I have a theory that the whole controversy about Stolas being an "abusive" father is because of the stereotype that queer people can't be good parents. And the whole "child and parent have conflict but make up in the end" trope happens in fiction all time (example: Danny Tanner, Jeff Morales, Doofenshmirtz, ect.) Weird how it only became abuse and neglect with Stolas and Via.
Some people are blantly saying they wanted stolitz to "stay a joke", and it feels obvious to me that a lot of them just like queer characters who are queer in a goofy "dark humor" way and not an actual character with queer struggles and/or queer relationships.
People who say "but I disagree and I'm not homophobic!" Be expecting you to give them a pat on the back or something, I swear 💀 Like... good for you? Thanks for not being a bigot? Do you want a reward?
What I don't think people understand is that if they're not homophobic, then the post isn't about them. The fact that they're getting so defensive about posts directed at no one in particular is just weird because it looks worse than it would be if they just kept scrolling. Now it just kind of seems like Freudian Slip.
No one was looking at you until you said something
Of course they're not all the same, but I've seen people straight up call them the f slur
Sorry that happened to you. Just remember that Reddit is INFAMOUS for being toxic, so don't take what people on that app have to say to heart. Like, it's up there with Twitter and Tumblr...
And wouldn't you know it? Those are the 3 sites I see the most Stolas and Blitz hate.
Interesting

speaking of dr, there's something that really annoys me about how shallow the ship discourse around kr4lsei is. I'm not sure I'm 100% behind this for the same reasons i doubt toby will go full in with noelle's mom being abusive, ie "those are very delicate and complex topics to handle, does he have the time and space to deal with them in deltarune's story?" so take this with a grain of salt.
(warning for brief mention of incest, so I'm putting this under a readmore)
i think the discourse being framed as "thinking ralsei is presented as a romantic interest" vs "thinking ralsei is compared to kris' brother or like a family member" is incredibly stupid because those are... both true at the same time. yes, there's an unskippable "tunnel of love" scene, and it looks like ralsei could have somewhat of a crush on kris. but ralsei still 1) looks just like a dreemurr, 2) clearly plays, as a character, on our feelings and memories of asriel from playing undertale, as evident by their designs and their names being anagrams 3) i am 99% sure Noelle was going to say "that kinda looks like asriel" while looking at him eating cotton candy with Susie, and Susie herself suggests telling toriel he's "a long lost cousin". either way, if ralsei is meant to play on our feelings towards asriel, then as asriel's sibling, kris is likely gonna feel similarly.
are you uncomfortable? good! you should be. that's the point.
it's not random that the snowgrave route was framed and portrayed with the imagery of a wedding. first the freezering, then the thorn ring are explicitly compared to wedding rings. "we're just friends"/"we're something else". "YOU'VE BEEN MAKING [hyperlink blocked (...LoVE?)], HAVEN'T YOU?" noelle with whom kris had a strained relationship, whose feelings (platonic? romantic? we don't know) we brute force in what is the most chilling, manipulative, cruel iteration of chapter 2's story we could take... it's almost as if deltarune uses kris being forced into romantically coded situations they're deeply uncomfortable with as a way to showcase their lack of agency in the story.
and being pushed into romcom-like situations with a guy who looks like their brother works pretty darn well to follow that pattern, if you ask me.
now, if a forced romance with noelle represents their lack of agency in regards to the player, then... a forced romance with ralsei could represent their lack of agency towards Fate. The Plot/Story. unskippable cutscene, remember? not to mention ralsei's whole purposepilled shtick he clearly has a complex about.
this does raise a couple of questions about susie though, as the third option in the "who would you take to the fair with you" question, the one option kris seems to agree with, as well as being a character who is actively resisting the narrative.
because there's people who are very much FOR krusie, just as there are people against it, i doubt their getting or not getting together would work to represent kris gaining their agency back. and i believe i speak for everyone when i say that susie is going to play a huge part in that arc. either way, i'm curious to see how this develops.
idk! like i said, I'm not sure just how much toby is gonna go into this because it IS a very delicate subject. but it's an example of what i mean when i say "there's more to fandom than shipping" and "fixating so hard on Shipping Good Things" can be detrimental to analysis. I'm not cancelling anyone with this post, go on doing your thing whether it's kr4lsei or r4lsusie or krus1e. but if your first thought going into this was "I'm gonna ignore the part where the game compares ralsei to asriel because that would make my ship incest and that is Bad and uncomfortable" then... that's a very cheap way to interact with media? lol. sometimes being uncomfortable IS the point. god knows utdr makes you uncomfortable on purpose sometimes. ok rant over :P

For the cold boys ask please tell me how you feel about Ned Little ❤️❤️❤️ Thank You!
THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!!
I am so normal about him you can't imagine how normal I am about that man.
Anyways:
First Impression: I think almost everyone has the same experience with this one: when you first watch the show you don't really register him for the first five episodes or so and then you either love him or are very much neutral about him. I vaguely remember the scene where he's standing next to Jopson looking like a kicked dog while Crozier yells at him and I think that's when I took note of him like "ohh poor boy let me give you a hug :(" I really fell for him in the second half of the season (first mainly bc hes pretty. Im a simple woman sometimes and im not afraid to admit it) and I cannot stress this enough how much the last scene where Crozier finds him half frozen with the chains on his face has altered my brain chemistry. That was the fr the point where I was like "okay so I'll never be normal again EVER huh"
Impression Now: I love him. I love him so so much on so many layers. For one I need him biblically bc I believe I can fix his ass and his sad energy and big cow eyes have bewitched me body and soul. Matthew McNulty was born to sport mutton chops and look increasingly disheveled while on a death march in the canadian arctic. But I can't put into words how much I relate to him. I am him, he is me. Genuinely if I was put on that stupid expedition in his place I would've made all the same (bad) decisions. I can literally name two other characters in media I relate to and those are Kat from Euphoria (only the first season version and I think if I watched the show now I would throw her off this list) and Connel from Normal People (him just,, big time). They just don't make characters that messy, pathetic and sad very often!! Or I'm not watching enough tv to find them but when I saw Ned throughout the season I was like "wow I relate to him so much and idk what that says about me". I feel like I went on a tangent there but I love him he is such a dear. He tried so so hard to do right and keep things under control bc he hates chaos but he was just so overwhelmed and had to deal with Croziers shit for way too long (I'm trying to sound smart rn bc people have very nuanced but sometimes also kinda weird takes on his character. Believe me I see him as more than sad wet puppy man but I don't have the words in the english language to express that)
Favorite Moment: Any scene he's in ever? Duh?? No but if I had to pick one I'd say the dundy intervention when he finally tries to put a foot down to rescue Crozier but they all just dismiss him. The way his eyes water. I. Mmh. I think I'm obligated to name his last scene as well bc that one makes me cry everytime even if I just see a gif of it, it's just so haunting and so so sad
Idea For A Story: Oh. Uhmmmmm. I'm really not a writer so I can't come up with anything cool on top of my head except let Ned be happy and comfy and warm. Tuck him into bed and give him soup. That's all
Unpopular Opinion: I can't really tell what's an unpopular opinion bc I've seen basically every take ever on him from "he is a pushover how did he even get his job" to "he's actually a meanie with big time anger issues" so. Maybe that I think he would've been a good lieutenant with a different captain on a more chill cruise. He'd do very well keeping order and the respect of the crew if he didn't have to be the doormat and errands boy for his alcoholic captain while starving in the arctic. I'd dare say 99.9% of life on a ship was more chill than the franklin expedition so maybe he wasn't the best lieutenant ever but he would've done a good job if the stakes weren't THAT high
Favorite Relationship: Started as a Joplittle stan, became a Sojoplittle truther and now my favorite is Solittle. I love my two dog boys, I love how they parallel each other (they were narrative foils your honor). But honestly anything goes, everyone deserves a bite out of nedward <3
Favorite Headcanon: That animals love him. Saw that on my feed a few days ago and yeah, agreed. He's definitely a cat person and they just flock towards him (extended hc that jirv loves animals so so much but they just hate him for some reason. So when the ships cat sneaks in during meetings jirv tries to get her to come towards him but the cat's like "ew no church boy" and jumps into Ned's lap who pets her but also prays he won't get yelled at by Crozier for this)

Firstly, I realized you are one of the people who reblogged my 049 art like almost half a year ago, thank you! Second of all, I saw your view on how 049 is made by other people from Snezkas post, and made me realize I'm slowly falling into that, like I stopped paying attention to the doctor part, and focused on relations with other SCPs. (Which I know isn't bad, just makes me worried I'll completely lose that part of him.) Since you said you've been in the SCP fandom for a bit now, probably longer than me, do you have any tales or stories with 049 you recommend? I would love to read stories that aren't just fanfic on social media, and hopefully get ideas how to stay consistent with him 💜💜
HI! Yes I love your 049 art, I have some of the rest of it liked, I love how you draw him! You make him so pretty. 😭🙏🏻💕
This ask startled me so much and also flattered me in a weird way, because I’m so insanely obsessed with the SCP foundation and 049 as a whole so I’ll take any chance to talk about him and the foundation as a whole, but also please don’t feel bad for having your own interpretations of him, or just having fun with him in general! You certainly don’t need permission from me or anyone else in the fandom to have fun with the characters you enjoy. Like I said, that’s the joy of a fandom is fan interpretations and creations.
I think the best way to stay in touch with his character is really to just go back and listen or read his original SCP log. I know what sounds basic, but really read into. Like REALLY read into it. The dialogue, his breakdown after killing Dr. Hamm, the way he had a stupid walking stick that the foundation had to take from him cause he was too dangerous with it and kept accidentally hitting people when waving it around while talking. Like just make head canons based off of certain things, that’s kinda what you have to do in this fandom if it’s not outright given to you lmao.
Another great thing to do is go and just look up “SCP-049” on the SCP website or the tale foundry. One of my favorite tales with him is “Pestilence in the Court of the Hanged King” which takes place with 049 slowly losing his mind in Alagadda. It’s a whole small series that’s a really fun but really bizarre read.
There was another entry in that small series that I think was removed, and I don’t know why, but it was 049 getting assigned to “cure” a man by the foundation, an older man who 049 deemed was clean of the pestilence, though he was dying of some sickness. And the old man just asked him to stay with him, and 049 just sat with him quietly in his last moments. I’m unsure of why it was removed but I really liked it, I might be remembering some parts wrong though, it was a while since I read that entry.
Another tale is “The Brothers Death” which gives you a look into someone’s idea of 049’s origins. Once again, kind of a series and hints and there being more masked beings like 049.
Also the sedition tapes on YouTube. Whether you want to see them as “official” or not is up to you, idk where they stand with that but I think they’re cool af.
But yeah, overall if you want more quote on quote “official” content of him, best thing you can do it just search and click around the official SCP wiki, cause some things just briefly mention him and you can gather stuff from that. If you find any tales that you think are neat please don’t be afraid to share them with me even if you think I’ve seen them before, I’m always hungry for content of this bird.

beyond the obvious issues pointed out here with that argument, I always think it's weird to act like writers have to personally experience something to write it convincingly? unless you're purely writing autobiography, every writer is going to write about things that they don't experience. the art of being a good writer is making it sound like you're in the character's head even if they're very different from you. that includes writing attraction you don't experience.
....but also, if people genuinely want to see what it's like when straight women try to write from the perspective of someone who is sexually attracted to women and fail at it, the place to find it is bad het romance. i specify "bad," because, again, good writers have no difficulty convincingly writing emotions they don't experience but that their characters do. But with the bad writers, you can really REALLY tell it in het when they write from the perspective of the male character (as is romance novel convention, to switch between perspectives) in a het romance, it feels so clunky. It's so obviously a straight woman's idea from the media about what men find hot in women, and it just feels so inauthentic to any real person's experience with falling in love. But again, good het romance writers who are straight women are fine here - because they don't actually have to experience attraction to women themselves to get into the head of a character who does!
It just always feels so condescending, and it only ever seems to come up for some reason when the authors are women, have you noticed that? IME even when you genuinely do have straight women romance writers try to dip their toes into f/f (the books mentioned in that video are not that though, like writers have bios usually or if they don't you can look them up? all the writers of the books that person is complaining about make it clear that they themselves are queer/non-hetero women of some stripe) the writing of the attraction still feels authentic to me. Probably because the hackier of the het romance writers are disproportionately less likely to try their hand at queer stuff? Idk. But that's what I've noticed.
Anyway, I'm all saying this as a lesbian who often finds mainstream F/F romance novels boring, but there's a distinct difference between "I'm not into this" and "these people don't experience this attraction." Your kinks and preferences are not universal! Also I think you've talked about this and I agree - a lot of what is off-putting to me about F/F novels is that a lot of them feel like they're more about community in-jokes than anything else. Idk how you would read that and think the issue is that the author doesn't like women. The other thing about that video that is stupid is that some of those books aren't even really "romances" in the genre sense. They are books that feature F/F romance as a major plot, but that are not written or structured like, or marketed as, romance novels. Like, Honey Girl felt more like a coming-of-age/personal-self-discovery novel than anything. The romance was important, but the protagonist's personal growth was the real story and got way more focus on its own (outside of the central relationship) than a conventional romance novel would give it. Along with that you can't really say "lesbian romance sucks and isn't sexy" and then use as examples books where being "sexy" was never the point in the first place, I also just think it's weird and homophobic to act like anything that has F/F romance content in it is therefore a romance novel? We don't assume that every story that has a hetero romance in it in anyway is a romance. People only seem to do this with queer stuff.
--
It's so odd because older queer lit was so heavy on coming of age and memoir-adjacent stuff.

your post about edgy/angst really spoke to me and I agree. Like for instance, people tag their stuff so if you don’t like it don’t engage with it??? I think that’s hard for people to understand. I also tbh k people need to understand the concept of balance cause being silly/goofy 100% of the time and not letting yourself feel negative stuff can be just as harmful.
Like even in terms of KND fandom, one can point to phenon’s works/AUs. A lot of their fanfics capture the goofy essence of the canon show yet at the same time there’s subtext of very real and fucked up trauma and angst? One fic in their AU can be about the kids fighting senior citizen spirits obsessed with coupons then the next fic in the same AU just slams you with Fanny’s slow realization that she’s gay and all the baggage that comes with that. Like, don’t be afraid of the angst! Like you said, there are creators in this fandom that can do BOTH. Rejecting angst completely is insanely reductive.
idk phenon’s just an objective example cause im reading thru their entire AU crying (/pos) yet i see some people prop them up solely cause they think all they write is comedy and im like “…this dude has literally writing the most evil and disgusting interpretation of Father yet somehow is keeping him in-character with the show’s vibe and is racking up a body count of kid characters in the background of the narrative. Are we not reading the same author???” Some people are just allergic to things that break their self constructed happy-fantasies and fragile egos.
This is so true and the sad thing is that I think the reason I get so much less attention than people like Zach (Phenon for those unaware) is because I make it clear how often I deal with sensitive topics, ESPECIALLY more sensitive and dangerous ones that aren't as common in media, which for some reason makes people think I'm some evil spirit trying to demonize their cutesy kids show and hate me LOL. I do write fluff sometimes but I've already gotten a pretty nasty reputation in the fandom from my no tolerance of bigotry/immorality vibe (which I've been told makes me appear "off putting"... Yeesh) and, of course, handling harsher topics... So people really try to ignore my content at this point and I've had a number of anon asks over the year tell me directly that they go out of their way to avoid my content in particular. I feel like that kind of avoidance is stupid, unless you're doing it because you're mentally unwell and can't handle the subject. But regardless of that, I still find it a bit silly. I don't JUST make edgy content, and I never had. There's numerous wholesome aspects in my storylines. But you make one piece of super sensitive content addressing a real life issue and now everyone is sending you death threats and shouting "_ WOULDN'T DO THAT!" because they believe everything is sunshine and rainbows and no one is allowed to make anything that suggests otherwise

Sorry to drag out more incest discourse! But to this anon: "two adult siblings dont naturally fall in love with eachother thats not an actual thing. most cases of sibling incest is abuse, typically from an older child to a younger one, and the reasons why is they are being abused by their parents or taught that incest is ok." ...I know. I know how real life incest works. "two consenting adult siblings who fall in love is so rare and not a real view on how or why incest is the way it is, its abuse first and foremost." ...I know. I am not trying to read about real life cases of incest. I'm reading about fictional characters in a setting where they know what they are doing is fucked up and for whatever reason they want to keep doing it, both of them. "if you want a story about a couple having to worry and hide their love thats just a gay couple for the past 200 years lmao." ...I read that too. I literally specified in my post that it's just one of many of those dynamics I read. "there are millions of people hurt by sibling incest and saying "idk what the big deal is its not morally disgusting" is stupid and ignorant." People are hurt by murder, people are hurt by cheating, people are hurt by jealousy, people are hurt by violence, and these are all themes people explore in fiction without nearly as much scrutiny. I don't hold moral superiority because I am okay with reading about incest. I genuinely do not think it's "that bad" in FICTIONAL MEDIA for ADULTS. "you understand why parent incest is wrong but cant get your head around sibling incest? you can like your taboo stuff, but defending it is just stupid" It's a personal gripe I have, if someone else enjoys it I'm not going to go on a moral crusade against them just because it makes ME feel bad.
