Whats wrong with predator 2018?

it’s been like 10 days i’m tired but i CANNOT stay silent anymore The world deserves to know. you will not believe how awful this movie is

1. the moment the movie starts you just understand that it…is not going to be good. it was made in 2018 so of course it has that edgy self aware marvel humor of Uhmm he’s right behind me isn’t he ? (and then you check shane black’s other works and he directed iron man 3 and everything suddenly make sense) LIKE IM SERIOUS there’s just a scene in the first 10 minutes where this Woman In Stem character goes Lol why did we name this thing The Predator? it’s more like a Hunter or a Huntsman it’s more like a Bass Fisherman LIKE WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? WHAT AM I HEARING RN? it’s so fucking stupid and i hate this type of humor so much like CAN U BELIEVE WE’RE IN A MOVIE? ABOUT THE PREDATOR (DUMBASS NAME (LOL))????

2. i mention the Woman In Stem character specifically because she is. also not good. i’m not going to act like the predator movies have always been the best with female characters (even 1987 has its issues) but at least they were actually BEARABLE. But especially autism. like what if we made a movie about how autism is the next step in human evolution (?!) and autistic people are like superheroes basically (?!?!!!?) and the entire plot hinges on the fact that The Predator wants to become autistic by stealing the autistic character’s autism dna (?!?!?!?!?!?!?? 7. the worst thing is with the finale. you see every predator sequel loves to reference the original 1987 movie because well, it’s iconic! it has a lot of meaningful moments and lines! Specifically in the ending of the original movie, where the main character asks the predator “what the hell are you?” and the predator echoes it back at him. Supposed to symbolize us army = monsters who kill without meaning yadda yadda u get it. anyway so in the 2018 movie finale they start to reference this moment too. the main character asks And what the fuck are you (ooo f bomb we’re SOOOO edgy and 2018core) and when the predator starts asking it back the main character just goes SHUT THE FUCK UP😂 and shoots him. it’s like. my hatred for this movie was indescribable at that moment. I’ve never actually genuinely watched a marvel movie so i just took people at their word when they said it was a genre of movie that fucking hated movies. but after watching the predator (2018) which is basically a marvel version of predator? yeah i get it. What if they made a movie that hated its source material and had 0 respect for it. and also hated its audience. and hated being a movie

I like never make posts on here but I wanted to scream into the void about heartbreak high. Since s1 I've seen like really strange takes and half the time I'm like is it because people don't know how Australian school is different or is it a lack of critical thinking.

Like in s1 I only saw people either hating or loving spider and don't get me wrong either of those is valid but the way people were explaining it was strange to me.

For me I didn't like spider but not because he was some unrepeatable arsehole I actually think he was a great representation of a lot of Australian guys I knew growing up. Like he says dumb shit but then when things are serious he does the right thing like he helped malakai with the cop (then said fucking stupid things after) and he helped amerie at the festival, he wanted to help harper and let her in even though it would mean he and American would have to stop hooking up.

In comparison I swore people liking dusty who in my eyes was way worse than spider. He acted all woke like he said the right things and then did shitty things like shaming harper and deciding to frame jojo.

Like theyrr both shit but I would trust spider with my drink over but maybe not dusty.

Then ant I understand if you like ant and spider together but I think people maybe don't understand how touchy guys are with each other in Australia. Like gay straight bi whatever guy friends hang off each other and I think it's actually healthy to show that. I also saw someone complaining about spider and ant doing gay shit but only as a joke but I never saw that like I don't think any of it was a joke it just wasn't gay. Like spider calling him pet names them cuddling and stuff is just affection which is actually great especially for men who often don't know how to have affection that's not sexual.

I was a bit disappointed with all the bisexual characters ending up in straight relationships but that's mostly because I really wanted an ant malakai and I liked Rowan Malaysia before it went to shit. But at the same time I dont like how people critiquing it often feels like Bi erasure. Like I'm a bi woman whos first gay relationship ended because my gf (lesbian) cheated on me with a lesbian because she constantly thought I was cheating on her with my guy friends and for a long time I just dated guys because I didnt know many bi women and lesbian girls kept being horrified that I would go near a dick (not all of them my ex was very understanding and actually encouraged me to embrace my sexualising when I was just a baby bi) but my point is I totally understand how having a straight relationship when bi can actually be more understanding (at least in mine and my friends experiences) and it's totally valid even though the relationship is straight.

Also people angry about not as much quinni (I agree more quinni she and cash are my loves) I'm actually happy they took a back-seat with her on the relationship front like her and Sasha were a big deal/quinnis first relationship and I think it wouldve really messed quinni up with how it ended. I also love that they're not just centring her storyline around being the gay girl you know like she I a multifaceted queen.

Also for the Sasha redemption, I get why people are calling for it but unlike spider and dusty like Sasha didn't really do anything wrong (except for how she treated quinni but they talked at the end of s1 and seem to be moving to a place of good friendahip) shes mostly just annoying and pretentious like the other idiots actually fuvked up. I don't really want a Sasha redemption I just want to see more of her character make her a bit less of a two dimensional hipster, which I honestly think they only didn't fo because they had a lot of characters to juggled Sasha had to take a back-seat so Missy could shine (and I love Missy so I'll allow it also her and malakais friendship means everything to me the indigenous representation that shows not just the aspects of country and family but also shows them as fully formed characters I LOVE)

Only those with excellent social standing and those from filthy rich families are lucky enough to spend their time here, at the elite private school Ouran Academy. The Ouran Host Club is where the school's handsomest boys, with too much time on their hands, entertain young ladies who also have way too much time on their hands. Just think of it as Ouran Academy’s elegant playground for the super rich and beautiful.

It’s a seemingly quiet winter day in the third music room. No events planned and only a few straggling guests left, finishing they’re refreshments and making small talk. All the host members relax in the surrounding chairs and sofas all idly talking to one another when a shrill chiming sound breaks the peaceful environment.

“Who’s phone was that?” Hikaru asks, the other boys just slightly saying not me when Haruhi hurriedly takes her phone out of her bag.

“Ohhhhh someone got a message” Kaoru chastates as he and hikaru try leaning over Haurhis shoulder to peek at her phone like the nosy boy they are.

much like last year some fuller thoughts on many of the films i watched under the cut

aight so the new film i watched that i liked the most was beyond a shadow of doubt late night with the devil. i watched it three times this october. i saw it and then tied everyone i knew to a chair and made them watch it with me too. fucking insane movie. i really really really really liked it and you should go watch it.

there were two films that made me actively mad while i was watching them and they were winnie the pooh blood and honey and beetlejuice beetlejuice. i thought blood and honey would at least be funny and to be fair in some places it was kinda funny but it was mostly just frustrating and boring. every single moment of action or tension is dragged on to pad the runtime to the point that the suspense gets beaten to death with a brick. there's also only pooh and piglet in the winnie the pooh horror movie which was a tad disappointing. further more there was so much gratuitous t&a in that movie i felt like i was watching something from 20 years ago. i get gratuity is still a thing in low budget horror but jesus christ dude

beetlejuice beetlejuice would have made me less mad if it was completely terrible all the way through but no a fair bit of the comedy still landed, the set and costume design were still spectacular, the score was good. but i hated sooooo much of the writing. i hated seeing jenna ortega on screen because every second she's on camera all you can smell is wb executives cumming themselves over casting "wednesday the tv series" as lydia's daughter for that sweet sweet "nostalgia + young actress relevant with The Youth". i thought making lydia into a sensationalist paranormal tv personality was stupid, i thought handwaving the maitlands out of the movie entirely was stupid, i thought giving beetlejuice a concrete backstory was stupid, there's a lot i could complain about but it should frankly be its own post.

m3gan was surprisingly really fun, the menu was UNsurprisingly really fun, chronicle was a movie i'd wanted to watch since i was a kid and i have kinda mixed feelings on it but overall i thought it was pretty neat if a bit hamfisted at times.

i didnt intend to watch 3 vhs movies im not crazy about the series but im nostalgic for the first 2 i guess. they were also anthologies so if i was running out of time in the day to watch my movie i could pop one on finish a segment then do the rest in the morning. i forgot the first segment of vhs2 entirely wow it sucks. novel concept but it sucks

the black phone was just aight to be it was a neat concept and it was well shot but i dont think it was an all timer like ive seen so many people insist. like i enjoyed it dgmw i think it was a good movie.

the haunting hour dont think about it is a movie i loved as a kid but watching it as an adult it is exactly what i wanted pooh blood and honey to be: astonishingly and HILARIOUSLY bad. i was high and laughing the entire way through the movie. i loved teen emily osment in her goth girl outfit crying and staring at the ceiling while listening to like royalty free emo music on her ipod. i loved the monster puppet looking cool and yucky but having a really limited range of motion so when it "devours itself" at the end of the movie one head just kinda clumsily bites the other until it flashes and explodes into yellow goo. so much amazing line delivery. and it smash cutting at the end to a completely unrelated song by emily osment that is also called "dont think about it" (which as a kid i feel like i remember airing on the disney channel entirely divorced from the movie). really fucking funny

all my rewatches were still good. i watched scream with chelsea and she liked it so scream is still the king baby ill watch it a million times.

I think the problem is that this was a vent post that people were taking a discourse post, but OP’s goal wasnt nuanced discussion, it was to vent, so they took it as a threat and lashed out at any replies trying to have a discussion

The post was basically saying that it isnt fair that the rest of the world is under the authority of another government they dont even get to elect (the usa), which is absolutely true

A couple usamericans tried to say what im saying now but got about as misinterpreted as possible, i think. Because, again, responses were not welcome on this post. They werent trying to make everything about themselves, but were trying to defend themselves on a post attacking them personally. The post was already about usamerians, they didnt derail. They weren’t defending their government on a post attacking their government, they were defending themselves on a post attacking themselves

They (the americans) said “whos forcing you to care?”, that wasnt taken well, they ARE being forced to care, by the government. But i think what they were trying to say, what im trying to say, is that this is an institutional problem, not a personal problem. They werent whining about how much life in america is so much harder than it is in all the places that our government destroyed, they were trying to illustrate that we as people are doing everything we can to fix our government, for our own and the rest of the world’s sakes, not that we’re too busy with our own stupid american problems to care about all the genocides america is committing elsewhere, but that we know that us simply “caring” about whats going on isnt going to change it, what will change their situation is changing our own government, but just because we’re all doing as much as we can to make that happen doesnt mean we can just simply rebuild our country from scratch because we want to, it isnt that easy

What they were trying to say was that we’re in a similar boat of being oppressed by our government, youre punching laterally at us, not up. Not trying to make it about themselves, not trying to absolve their government, but just not being sure why this is being aimed at them as, ya know, not the government

I just dont think its helpful to make sweeping generalizations that everyone of a certain nationality is evil, one because thats just a shitty thing to do in general (not as shitty as everything our government is doing, obviously, but again, at us people youre punching laterally. please dont interpret this as an attempt to get involved in the Discourse. but like being friends with a few teachers is really, idk i feel like i have a lot of insight into the way schools are now, and like. it has changed a lot. and like you may not have been taught specific facts in school, but you were (probably, if youre an adult now) taught how to read. my friend who teaches 8th grade social studies has entire classrooms full of teenagers reading at a first grade level, like not just comprehension, but the actual literacy. or maybe you didnt learn about a specific country in school, but maybe you did a research project that required you to find, read, and cite sources, while i had to explain to a kid the other day (not in a formal setting) how to research a topic that he was interested in to find books about that thing to read, because he didnt even know how to *find* the information he was looking for. or maybe your gripe is that people "dont want to read anything other than fanfiction" but free reading classes, and literature classes have been cut down to accomodate more preparation for standardized testing, which reading classics or even just, a novel that a student has picked out, wont prepare them for. which means that kids arent being exposed to novels at their level and becoming interested in exploring literature because they dont know whats out there or where to start looking.

if your problem is with americans being privileged enough to remain ignorant about any other place or culture, while people in those other places are all but forced against their will to learn about america and american culture through tv shows, movies, books, or just the culture of the internet at large, and americans wont even put in the effort to watch "foreign films" or whatever. like, you can say that. but this is a bigger and different discussion than the one about "i didnt learn this in school" "well neither did i, i learned it myself using the things school did teach me, so youre stupid"

and i want to be clear, i do agree that american culture's ubiquity is probably annoying and its wrong, and i can understand the resentment that it builds when americans are ignorant of any other culture but everyone else Must learn about american culture, and i think this is a bad thing that should change. but i think thats a conversation that should be had explicitly, rather than in the form of insults or by discussing what is and is not being taught.

i definitely feel like at this point in my life, i dont think having blood from a certain place actually makes you of that place. my grandma insists we're irish, and while i definitely support irish independence and hate the english, thats more of a general anti imperialism thing and not really based on any perceived heritage on my end. ive never been to ireland, as far as im aware none of my family members have for any significant amount of time, pretty much everything i know about irish culture is either stuff that i've had to do my own research on or just stuff that's known via pop cultural osmosis; im not fucking irish, im a goddamn american. some of the most insufferable people ive known have been these canadian people who insisted they were dutch and were just insufferable about it at every goddamn turn, furthering my beliefs that canadians might just be innately insufferable people who deserve to be sent back to europe with all the indigenous folks getting their land back. but i digress. anyways, growing up my mom told me that i have a bit of romani in me (not the term she used, you can probably guess which one she did). being a stupid little kid who didnt know the world like i do now, i internalized the fact that 1/32 of my blood was allegedly roma. in a weird way it did make me feel like i should respect them, which thankfully has persisted well into adulthood, but the next time i meet one im not gonna be like "ohhh you know i'm actually 1/32 roma on my mom's side" when i'm out here with skin that you can color pick to show #FFFFFF, y'know, i feel like they should have the legal right to cut me if i pull that shit. i do wish i could find more resources about romani culture though, it's definitely a pain given how search engines are at the moment ya feel me. the way i was raised, for all its faults, did instill in me a love for learning about people and the cultures they belong to, yknow

Yeah, I know people don’t want to hear this but it’s not really that impactful. Particularly not in the wake of the war in Ukraine where we saw a lot of dead people. It also won’t be the most important experience on politics of the 21st century. That’s just short sighted. Like I get why it feels that way but I really just get the feeling everyone writing annons like this is 12. Like they just don’t have the experience. That doesn’t mean stupid but just not experienced and haven’t seen this shit happen and seen the bigger picture. They think these evens are special, and have unreal expectations about what protesting and a hashtag can do. Also Palestine is not anywhere near being liberated. It’s closer to being wiped out than liberated. And people protesting when their governments aren’t going to step in doesn’t matter. Egyptians may protest but their government doesn’t want to be flooded with refugees either because they’re Palestinians(xenophobia isn’t just an American thing) or for economic reasons. It makes a lot of governments come off as cold and inhuman but it’s not always for no reason when their duty is to their people.

And being able to not see the impact Taylor Swift had is just willful ignorance. It was the big impactful thing that people were talking about for months, more months than the war has been happening. Just because you have a narrow source of information and should broaden your horizons of media and information doesn’t remove that reality.

Okay so i have a few thoughts sorry obviously you don't have to answer i just want to write them down and you seem like a really sweet person so i thought i'll send it and maybe you or someone can add something to it🤗

Firstly we know that the band didnt expect atvb to go viral on tiktok and the really big popularity on the internet and i think matty once said that the play doesnt work well like that bc you cant film a play and im sure they're gonna count on satvb going viral and im really interested what kind of changes that would mean (maybe know phones but i dont think they would do that especially since the team75live's thing is to go live every concert and we know matty talked to them personally). But on the other hand after this year it seems like they only go viral if matty does something particularly stupid and/or offensive (i really hope not) so idk if it could influence the show in any way or exactly how but obviously the goal is to entertain the audience there not the internet.

Secondly atvb was 26 songs plus 10 minutes consumption and satvb is 22 songs then that would leave like what 25-30 minutes and im really really curious what they will do but i know we wont know it until the 26th but thats interesting i think bc it seems like too much time for me.

Okay lastly it seems like after the vegas show that atpoaim isnt over and thats really great but then it wasn't just something in between atvb and satvb and it'll continue and i had a thought bc tobias ryder said that satvb will continue what atvb started which was the on and off stage playing a character and atpoaim could be like a fourth wall break but after the north american tour announcement it didnt seem like it will be that but i hope at least

So, in terms of Atpoaim, here’s what I think about it’s relationship to the shows and it’s span.

As for the show itself, I do think that it’s going to evolve the ideas that began with ATVB, but I’m not entirely sure what direction it’s going to take. I think you are right. One of the first and earliest signs of Matty’s desire for change was when he would say stuff like “this show wasn’t meant to go viral” and stuff like that. And, in a sense, I get that. He’s never had to think about this additional layer of engagement. Usually, his work is within the context of the fandom. I think maybe this time around he’ll have the scenes be related to as specific theme or idea, but not entirely identical every night. Like he might still have a message behind what he wants to do/say, but he might try to approach it from different angles.

Also, yesterday, he used the words “introspective,” “Kafka” “joy division,” “Freud.” So I’m trying to think about what each of these concepts might have in common with his project and make a few guesses.

I would say, I can kinda see the hot division element. They’re very punk inspired but rather dark. Their lyrics were inspired by a lot of dystopian commentary. Taking the personal and connecting with the social. In exactly the ways that Matty’s show started out being about himself and turned into a show about being a man and the state of masculinity. And Kafka? Well, he’s the king of irony and absurdity. So, my guess is, matty is going to stretch that persona to new heights. The Freud reference and the “introspection,” make me think he’s going to draw on his ugliest and most personal feelings / thoughts and try to dramatize them. But of course inferiority is impossible to share publicly, which I’m guessing is where the irony comes in. That paradox of like how do you make the personal public without losing the authenticity. Usually, his answer to that is to lean into how ridiculous the whole rockstar persona is, but the question is, what makes this time different? What’s the point? Is it gonna be like super dystopian and depressing? Is he going to gesture towards a better future? Are we just fucked? Where does he stand right now? How does he feel about it all and how is it influencing his work?

I feel like this is where it’s all headed but idkkkk. Haha I’m super pumped to find out.
